Once upon a time in [[AlternativeCalendar New Universal Era]], humanity reached its golden age and began making plans to travel between spaces... until they encountered an object that instilled such a serious fear within them that they abandoned their old plans, entering a new age of stagnation and corruption referred as the 'Twilight Age', mired with corruption and warring between factions. The progress of mankind came to a halt, and the spirits of people were filled with despair. In the midst of this stagnation, a group known as VTX Union made its name and tried to survive the harsh age, while hoping to ensure that mankind can resume its advance. This is where our story began, from the point of view of two particular {{Salaryman}} of the VTX Union with differing personalities: The by-the-book professional Saizo Tokitou, and the carefree, easygoing Sagiri Sakurai... along with the company's newest product, the mecha Tyranado, and according to the NewMeat Rami Amasaki, there's more than meets the eye about this product...

An ExpansionPack for it was released on June 27, 2019, detailing a few months after the Daybreak War, and finally bringing Earth back into its Golden Age, a new threat dubbed [[LegionOfDoom Atrum]] looms over the horizon, and [[spoiler: features a [[CrisisCrossover team-up with the protagonists]] of ''V'' and ''X'' to deal with the new threat.]]

''T'' brings the ''Getter Robo'' and ''Nadesico'' series back after their absence from ''X'', as well as ''G Gundam'' post-''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsOE'' (its last console appearance was ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsNEO''), and includes the first voiced and console appearance of ''Gun X Sword'' since its first appearance in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsK''. ''T'' marks the first franchise installment to feature two entries of the ''Anime/BraveSeries'' in one game, a MagicalGirl[=/=]{{Shojo}} series for a traditional ''Super Robot Wars''[[note]]The first MagicalGirl[=/=]CuteWitch to appear in the franchise is ''Franchise/LittleWitchAcademia'' in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsXOmega''[[/note]], and a technical debut of a series that used to debut in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsXOmega''[[note]]''Anime/MazingerZInfinity'' was not grouped as 'new series' during the reveal trailer since it was a One-Time Event Unit in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsXOmega'', but the game is actually its debut in traditional ''Super Robot Wars'' games. The next series given this treatment is
'' Anime/{{Zegapain}}'' in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsDD''[[/note]]

----
!!''Super Robot Wars T'' provides the following tropes:
* AbusiveWorkplace:
** Deliberately averted with VTX, as demonstrated by the VTX values quoted by its employees. Among other things, VTX offers generous terms for overtime and night pay, and is very flexible in regards to what jobs it takes. Contractors like the crew of the ''Bebop'' are also offered performance bonuses. A problematic employee who'd harassed Aimes was shown the door once she made a report and the HR department completed its investigation.
** Zigzagged with the Company/ UND. Its members like Rudi Pixyzalto offer various characters employment, promising their talents would be recognised. Even the UND grunts will occasionally comment in combat that victory in battle will directly lead to higher status and success within the company. However, the UND also has a very much WeHaveReserves mentality, and any employees unable to live up to their contract will either find themselves dropped or [[YouHaveFailedMe subjected to harsh punishment]]. This is sometimes played for humour, as defeated UND grunts may scream in terror at the thought of a blemish on their record rather than the fact their mech is exploding around them.
* AcceptableBreaksFromReality: The Rune Gods are able to equip targeting calculators and engine parts to make themselves on par with the other mechs. How? Who cares.
* ActionGirl: Notably, this installment provides a lot of headlining ActionGirl from the licensed series. In this game, [[Anime/{{Gunbuster}} Noriko]] will be joined with [[Anime/ExpelledFromParadise ex-DEVA Agent Angela]] and [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth the three Magic Knights Hikaru, Umi and Fuu.]] Several supporting cast members also consist of considerable ActionGirl such as [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Allenby]], [[Anime/GunXSword Pricilla]], [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Marvel]]. Even [[spoiler:[[Characters/SuperRobotWarsT Rudi Pixyzalto]] joins in on the fun when she rescues [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack Char and the Rewloola crew]] on foot.]]
* ActorAllusion:
** During a training session, [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico Akito]] mentions to [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Domon]] that the latter's voice chord is very familiar to him, as a reference to how Domon has [[Creator/TomokazuSeki the same voice actor]] with Akito's deceased best friend Gai Daigoji.
** [[Anime/CowboyBebop Spike]] has several lines directed towards those who has [[Creator/KoichiYamadera the same voice as him]] like [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack Gyunei]] or [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico Hokushin]]. For Gyunei, Spike compliments his voice or points out how much they're together unlucky. Against Hokushin, though, Spike is disgusted that such an evil man is sounding like him.
** In one scenario, the Gundam pilots spar with the Gundam fighters, and [[Manga/MobileSuitCrossboneGundam Tobia]] was paired up with Sai Saici. They are both voiced by Creator/KappeiYamaguchi.
** If pitted against a Zonder, [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Umi]] might mutter, "I'm not afraid... I'm not afraid against any Zonders!", in reference on [[Creator/KonamiYoshida her voice actress']] most recurring role in ''Anime/GaoGaiGar'' as Hana who often mutters "I'm not afraid" as a SurvivalMantra.
** [[Manga/CaptainHarlock Mr. Zone]] tends to have reference lines against Gundam pilots, especially [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack Amuro Ray]], and can even state that his Photon Battleship 'isn't just for show', since he shares [[Creator/ToruFuruya the same voice actor as the White Devil himself.]]
** One of [[Anime/GunXSword Michael Garret's quotes against Van]] is "Begone, Joker!" This has a double allusion, both to the series (Van was referred as such once) and to another role of [[Creator/SoichiroHoshi Michael's voice actor]]; [[VideoGame/{{Persona 5}} a certain Goro Akechi who squared off against someone codenamed Joker.]]
*** Similarly, both of [[Anime/GunXSword Saudade of Sunday]]'s attack animations have direct references to the [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny Strike Freedom]], in allusion to Michael's voice actor's famous role as its pilot.
** In the prelude to Chapter 29, it is implied that [[Anime/GunXSword Wendy]] got picked to take [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico Yurika]]'s place in the 'Nadesico What! And Why' show (and failed to replicate Yurika's energeticness). There's only one possible reason for Wendy to get picked for this: [[Creator/HoukoKuwashima She has the same voice as Yurika.]]
* AdaptationExpansion: Significant expansion is made to the timeline of ''Anime/MazingerZInfinity'', including condensing Tetsuya's BadassInDistress period to a single two-parter in favor of letting him spend most of his time in the party. ''Anime/MobileFighterGGundam'' is expanded with a new post-series plot outright, albeit one in which HistoryRepeats quite a bit.
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Rabaan Zaramand]] starts out the same but [[spoiler:the breakdown of the "World's Order" in ''T'' causes him and Shion to start remembering their past lives and while Shion manages to retain his individuality, Rabaan becomes slowly consumed by Bern Bunning's personality bleeding through.]]
* AdaptationalBadass: [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Primera]] in the original material served only as a comedy relief [[ClingyJealousGirl jealous]] [[TheLoad nuisance]] whose role is to be the MomentKiller between Hikaru and Lantis until Mokona interrupts her. All these traits remain in the game... though she also takes a more active role in battle by being Lantis' sub-pilot and loaded with useful support-based Spirit Commands, making their dynamic more similar to the [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Show-Chum and Shion-Silkie]] pairs.
* AdaptationalCurves: During the second Rune Gods' CombinationAttack, [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth the Magic Knights]] were shown in a transformation stance and even with BarbieDollAnatomy (like usual), they seem to have an increased breast sizes (even if they do not bounce) to be at least on par with someone like [[Anime/GunXSword Priscilla]], being moderately-sized. This is despite in the original, Hikaru at one point mentioned that [[ACupAngst she hasn't grown any boobs and it would be nice to have them big]].
* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance:
** Both [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Eagle Vision and Geo Metro]] appear during the time frame of the first season as opposed to waiting until the second season. Inverted with the Flashing Sword combination: In the original series, it appeared as early as the climax of first season, [[spoiler:being the attack used to kill Emeraude]]. In the game, [[spoiler:the Magic Knights used Spiral Flash instead, which was originally used to kill Zagato.]] The Flashing Sword itself made its debut during the final battle against Debonair when originally that was the second time the Magic Knights used it.
** ''Anime/GunXSword'' made a big deal about the development of Saudade of Sunday and a chunk of the early and middle section of the anime is dedicated to Michael proving himself and gaining the resolve to serve the Clawed Man and prove himself worthy to deploy with Saudade, only at the near end of the anime. In this game, Michael can already use the Saudade of Sunday during the time Van defeated Gadved.
* AdaptationalHeroism: [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Zagato]] initiated an invasion to Earth in order to [[spoiler:ensure that the people of Cephiro can migrate to Earth when Cephiro eventually crumbles due to Emeraude not praying for it. While he will still be seen as an invader of Earth, at least it shows that he actually cared for the people living in Cephiro, as opposed to the original version where he looked like he didn't give a damn to its people, just focusing on Emeraude. And exclusively in the game, he also spared enough time to copy his Rune God for Lantis to use for the purpose of protecting Emeraude (for a good reason, since in the past, they waged war against [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Mycenae civilization]] in Cephiro's defense) before things went out of control.]]
* AdaptationalNationality: In a similar fashion to their debut in ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsK K]]'', the cast of ''Anime/GunXSword'' were from the faraway planet of Endless Illusion in their home series, but are Earthlings here. Specifically, they are inhabitants of a terraformed Mars this time around.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Lantis]] is already a NiceGuy and still is in this game. However, in the source material, he constantly ignored Primera and acted like she didn't exist (although Primera is kind of asking for it by being kind of obnoxious). In this game, he actually recognizes Primera's existence and acknowledges her as his battle companion, treating her fairly as much as [[TheStoic his personality]] allows.
* AdaptationalNonsapience: [[Anime/GunXSword Wendy]] has a pet tortoise named Kameo that she wears like a pendant around her neck in her anime. In this game, she never brings up that she has a pet, but she has a pendant in her character sprites that resembles his shell. Kameo's role is replaced by other contrivances that occur (e.g. In the anime, he [[PocketProtector blocked a bullet]] intended for Wendy with his shell but in this game, her gun blocked it)
* AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul: Due to having OneeSama and CoolBigSis characters to look up to, [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Hikaru]] becomes less ObliviousToLove than her canon counterpart, and thus is able to understand and acknowledge her romantic love for Lantis, allowing her to recipocate and get in a relationship with him. As for Eagle Vison, he becomes a very staunch ShipperOnDeck for the two.
* AdaptedOut:
** Despite ''Armageddon'' representing the ''Getter Robo'' franchise for the game, the exclusive characters in that installment (Go, Kei Kuruma and Gai) aren't included in ''T'', leaving Ryoma Nagare, Hayato Jin, and Benkei Kuruma to carry the torch with the Shin Getter Dragon from ''Daikessen!''. [[spoiler:{{Justified}} since the failed nuclear strike on Shin Dragon story element was omitted, therefore the second half of the ''Armageddon'' OriginalVideoAnimation couldn't happen, so Cohen and Stinger has to take over from the first half's end]]. Because of this, another staple of the ''Armageddon'' OVA, the Black Getter, is also omitted, and Hayato uses his younger appearance from the first three episodes throughout the game.
** Due to the modifications of the ''Manga/MagicKnightRayearth'' plot, only the Autozam faction is present as the Cephiro invasion force. Chizeta and Fahren do not appear. Additionally, the only Autozam mecha is the FTO here; the GTO is nowhere in sight.
** Only the core cast of ''New Story of Aura Battler'' - (Shion, Silkie, Reml, Rabaan, and the Northern Sage) are present in ''T'', with the original ''Dunbine'' cast and some of the ''[[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Rayearth]]'' cast substituting for all the secondary characters such as Rabaan's subordinates and the anti-Black Knight [[LaResistance resistance]]
** As with its previous appearances barring ''GC'', none of the enemies from ''Tryder G7'' appear. As such, Watta and the Takeo General Company mostly hang around and act as extra support for either the GGG or Brave Express Team, much like [[Anime/{{Daitarn 3}} his Invincible series predecessor.]]
** While ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack'' is not a PostScriptSeason, it still cuts down the roster into just Amuro, Bright, Char, Quess and Gyunei. Other characters, in particular Hathaway Noa and Chan Agi, do not appear.[[note]]Chan being AdaptedOut makes sense since she was supposed to replace Beltorchika in the movie, but the novel, which is featured in the game, restored Beltorchika's place. However, Hathaway is present in both media, and he's still not in the game while Quess is. Since Hathaway is confirmed to exist in ''T'''s continuity (Bright mentions him by name if the Ra Cailum battles during its first map) despite his absence from the game, then he is by proxy SparedByAdaptation, since the death of Quess in both continuities is one of the catalysts of [[Literature/MobileSuitGundamHathawaysFlash him becoming Mufti Navilles Erin and then dying.]][[/note]]
** Due to the death of his voice actor long before this game's announcement, [[Anime/{{Gunbuster}} Captain Tashiro Tatsumi and the Excelion battleship]] are not present in this game.
* AesopAmnesia: Subverted. [[spoiler:[[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Master Asia]] came BackFromTheDead with all his memories intact about how his last fight with Domon went and the lessons he learned. He took this lessons at heart, but still brought some DG Army to eliminate some really evil humans not worth living and ruining the Earth. He certainly learned that humans are part of nature that had to be protected, but [[LoopholeAbuse really evil men are out of the equation.]]]]
* AgeGapRomance: Discussed; after Scenario 48, when Lantis asks about combat data on [[Anime/MagicKnightRayearth Nova]], the VTX girls believe that he feels that protecting the Magic Knights is his duty. [[Manga/CaptainHarlock Kei]] on the other hand realises that the Magic Swordsman is romantically attracted to Hikaru. The office ladies find that somewhat disconcerting as even physically Lantis looks to be a good five or six years older than the 14-year-old Hikaru. Kei states that due to Cephirans [[OlderThanTheyLook hardly looking]] [[YoungerThanTheyLook the age that they are]], age really does become nothing more than a number for them and thus [[DeliberateValuesDissonance their culture learn to love without such stigmas]].
* AllYourPowersCombined: The Shin Getter Dragon from ''Daikessen'', similar to the Shin Getter Dragon from the OVA, morphs itself to accommodate its pilots. Unlike the latter, instead of morphing itself into a different form, the Shin Getter Dragon stays in "Dragon form" and morphs equipment onto its body. In the second trailer, when Hayato is piloting it, the Shin Getter Dragon's hands turn into a drill and claw and two gigantic boosters appear on its back, mimicking Getter Liger.
* AlliterativeName:
** This installment's ThemeTune is "[[Music/JAMProject Tread on the Tiger's Tail]]". The same goes to the official squad name, so it's shortened as "T3".
** The female OriginalGeneration PlayerCharacter is named ''Sa''giri ''Sa''kurai.
* AlternativeCalendar: The game starts off in the year New Universal Era (NUE) 200.
* AlternateDimension: The game takes place mostly in Earth's Solar System, but there are two extra dimensions that were involved in the verse, located in a place far away from contact with Earth: [[Anime/ArmoredTrooperVOTOMS The Astragius Galaxy]] (which is also home to [[Anime/ExpelledFromParadise DEVA]]) and the combined world of [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Byston Well]] and [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Cephiro, with Autozam nearby.]]
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter:
** How Shion feels about Show and why he's always frustrated with him. He gets over it [[spoiler:after finding out that he's the {{Reincarnation}} of Show yet Show tells him that he's his own person.]]
** One of the minor recurring jokes of the series is how small the Takeo General Company is when compared to [[Anime/TheBraveExpressMightGaine Senpuuji Concern]] or even [[OriginalGeneration the VTX Union]], to either Watta's annoyance or frustration, especially during the "Today is Bonus Day!" DLC, where he became desperate to collect all the bounties from a group of criminals all on his own so that he could afford to give the rest of the company workers bonuses because the other companies could afford to give bigger bonuses for theirs. Watta gets over it or goes along with the joke outside the DLC.
* AnachronismStew: Like ''V'' and ''X'', ''T'' combines roughly fifty InUniverse years of the Universal Century ''Gundam'' timeline. The [[Anime/MobileSuitGundam One-Year War]] occurs in NUE 189, the [[Anime/MobileSuitZetaGundam Gryps]] and [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamF91 Cosmo Babylonia]] Wars occur in NUE 198, the [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Neo Zeon]] and [[Manga/MobileSuitCrossboneGundam Jupiter Wars]] happen immediately after the Gryps War ends in NUE 199, and a ceasefire is reached with Neo Zeon in February NUE 200 following the conclusion of the Jupiter War, which is where the game picks up at. The game itself is mostly focused on the second half of ''Gundam ZZ'', except with Jupiter Empire remnants hanging around and elements from ''Char's Counterattack'' eventually being blended in.
* AntiFrustrationFeatures: The game has an indicator that lets the player know if an attack, allied or enemy, has the potential of shooting down its target.
* ArcWords: "[[HeroicWillpower Willpower]]". Throughout the story, it's shown again and again that "willpower trumps all else" is not something exclusive to [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Cephiro]] only.
** [[Manga/GetterRobo Dr. Saotome]] was able to remain human even after he was infected by the Invaders, and Musashi was able to [[spoiler: temporarily take control of Getter Ray itself]], all because of their willpower.
** [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Master Asia]] came back from the dead [[spoiler: when he was infected by DG cells post-mortem]]. However, he was able to [[spoiler: absorb it into his body and control it at will]], becoming stronger as a result.
** The [[spoiler:[[Manga/CaptainHarlock Golden Goddess]]]] was interested in the members of T3, more specifically [[spoiler:Harlock and Zone]], because of their willpower.
* ArmsDealer: Initially the OriginalGeneration just wants to promote and sell their {{Mecha}} to various governments, bounty hunters and pirates. They're more upscale than most examples.
* ArtifactMook: The mud golems that appear in the promotional trailer whenever ''Rayearth'' is being showcased is actually the same mud golem that appeared in Episode 2, but it's now coming in droves, being the main {{Mook}}s of Cephiro when Zagato was in charge.
* AscendedExtra:
** [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Inova]] this time transforms into his wolf form and takes on the battlefield earlier than in the original anime and [[RecurringBoss survives many encounters]] with the Magic Knights and the T3 as opposed to being defeated at his first fight.
** Due to the overhaul to [[Manga/GetterRobo Armageddon's]] plot, Musashi no longer is killed off in the prologue and sticks around far longer, even getting to pilot the Shin Getter-3 for a considerable amount of time before Benkei takes over.
** In the original show, [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Allen Brady]] was an unimpressive Battler who just served as a stand-in opponent for Show whilst Todd and Bern were temporarily absent and he is quickly killed off to demonstrate how much stronger Show and Todd have become with their MidSeasonUpgrade. But in ''T'', Allen is given the vastly more powerful [[AceCustom Leprechaun]] to pilot and is treated as a credible threat for a while [[spoiler:and even joins the UND and is only slain at ''the last scenario''.]]
** [[Anime/ExpelledFromParadise Dingo]] didn't sell Angela's first Arhan after its first fight and it lasts until the stage when it has to be replaced by the New Arhan.
* AscendedMeme: [[Anime/CowboyBebop Spike]] occasionally has lines about 'carrying some weight', as an acknowledgement of the meme "You're gonna carry that weight." from his original series.
* AscendToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: It's implied that this happened to [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Ciela Lapana]] at the end of ''Aura Battler Dunbine'' and she still exists within the Aura Road. [[spoiler:In fact, she was the one who entrusted Show with the Bellvine, summoning it to him directly through the Aura Road, with Show believing that he heard her voice.]]
* AssistCharacter: Several characters do not appear as separate units, but nonetheless will appear in another character's attacks. Up and including:
** Both [[Anime/CowboyBebop Faye Valentine and Jet Black]] for [[Anime/CowboyBebop Spike Siegel]]
** [[Anime/GaoGaiGar Goldymarg and Mic Sounders the 13th]] for [[Anime/GaoGaiGar Guy Shishioh]]
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMoments: [[GameplayAndStoryIntegration Integrated into gameplay]] InUniverse: Amies and Meryl record all of T3's battles for later analysis. Particularly awesome moments either provide them with valuable data that they turn into a bonus supply of [=TacP=], or Amies knows the right people to sell the footage to for extra cash.
** The concept also comes up as an important story element: [[spoiler:Domon's final showdown with Master Asia is ''so'' awesome that the sheer excitement it generates in everyone who sees it is enough to help lift humanity out of the depressed mindset of the Twilight Age, which was Master Asia's goal all along]].
* AwesomeButImpractical: In the DLC mission ''Decade-Long Trio'' staring Amuro, Koji, and Ryoma, Mazinger Z's Scrander was disabled in a surprise attack. To deal with a flying Kikaiju, the trio decide to do it again "like the old times". First, Amuro would jump with his Gundam as high as possible and bombard the Kikaiju, then Musashi in Getter-3 would use Daisetsuzan Oroshi to launch Mazinger Z into the sky, where Koji would finish off the Kikaiju with a rocket punch. Afterwords, Ryoma would mention that the combination attack wasn't perfect without [[Anime/MobileSuitGundam Hayato and Kai]] to provide covering fire, and then we get this convo from Hayato
-->'''Hayato:''' ...
-->'''Musashi:''' What's the matter, Hayato?
-->'''Hayato:''' Y'know, I've always wondered... Why didn't we have Getter-1 carry Mazinger? That would have been faster and more efficient.
-->'''Koji:''' I...never thought of that!
-->'''Amuro:''' It's because being launched in the air with the Daisetsuzan Oroshi is so unorthodox the enemy never sees it coming... I think.
-->'''Ryoma:''' Y-Yeah, that's totally it. Don't sweat the small stuff, alright?!
* BabiesEverAfter: Just like in ''Beltorchika's Children'' novel, it's revealed near the end of the game that Beltorchika is pregnant with Amuro's child after he senses the life growing inside of her. By the ending he looks forward to being a dad.
* BackFromTheDead:
** Several villains that were already dead due to their stories being PostScriptSeason return from the dead. To wit:
*** [[spoiler:[[Anime/GunXSword The Claw]] used certain methods to revive both [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Master Asia and Wong Yunfat.]] Wong quickly converted into Claw's follower, but Master Asia is a little more skeptical, eventually becoming a WildCard.]]
*** [[spoiler:The UND saved [[Anime/TheBraveMightGaine Exev]] in the last minute and then hired him. During the battle of Jupiter, Exev threw himself to the planet to activate [[Anime/GaoGaiGar The Power]], resulting the resurrection of Black Noir.]]
** [[spoiler:Despite dying during the ''Dunbine'' TV series, Show, Marvel, Todd, Allen, and Jeryl are alive, finding themselves 700 years in the future]].
* BaitAndSwitch: Just like in ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsX X]]'', a ''Dunbine'' character attempts to activate the "[[MakeMyMonsterGrow Hyper]]" transformation, but instead of the player having to fight a giant boss like in the classic games that featured ''Dunbine'', the threat is resolved in cutscene and you just fight the boss normally.
* BagOfSpilling:
** [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Domon]] and the other G Gundam characters have lost the ability to use their more advanced techniques and abilities because of their emotional turmoil making it impossible to maintain a serene state of mind anymore, something that all of their most powerful moves rely on.
** [[Anime/TheBraveExpressMightGaine Maito]] has sent Might Kaiser and Might Gunner off on another mission, leaving him with just Might Gaine's basic form until he reclaims them. The same goes for [[Anime/GaoGaiGar Mic and Goldymarg]].
** [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Show and Marvel]] retain their Billbine and Dunbine upon joining, but just like in ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsX X]]'', Todd has lost his [[AceCustom Wryneck]] and has to use a [[RedemptionDemotion mass produced Vierres instead]] until he inherits the Billbine.
* BashBrothers: Crossover-wise, [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Hikaru]] and [[Anime/{{Gunbuster}} Noriko]] form a quick bond when Noriko became impressed with Hikaru's upbeat personality in the face of danger, which inspired her to do brave things, and meanwhile, Hikaru is enarmored with Noriko's motto of believing in hard work and guts so she decided to adopt it as well. [[spoiler:This gets hilarious later on when it is revealed that [[GreaterScopeVillain Debonair was responsible for the Space Terrible Monster Creatures]], so Noriko's main enemies were born from Hikaru's main enemy.]]
* BilingualBonus: A minor recurring joke features a minor one-shot character from ''Anime/GunXSword'', a quirky sailor named Kaiji who likes to spout out how much he loves sea and sea/ocean is the best... and somehow this creeps out [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Umi.]] With even small knowledge of Japanese language, the joke becomes clear: 'Umi' means 'Sea/Ocean' in Japanese, and she ends up thinking that Kaiji is creepily hitting on her.
* BlackAndWhiteMorality: Like the series [[Anime/MagicKnightRayearth they're from]], Hikaru, Umi and Fuu all suffer from this. [[spoiler:They become so caught up in the legend of the Magic Knights along with the duty that it entails and what they've been told that they never bothered to look at things from another view point and Zagato was just the BigBad that they must defeat to save the world. This bites them, hard, once the awful truth is revealed.]]
* BlindIdiotTranslation: Mistakes in translating such as repeated words and other errors are a lot more common in ''T'' compared to ''V'' and ''X''.
* BolivianArmyEnding: [[spoiler:[[Anime/CowboyBebop Spike]] missed out the farewell party to those departing from the Solar System because he had to confront Vicious and the Red Dragons solo one last time, just like the finale of his own show. Faye has faith that he won't die from it, but the game makes it even more ambiguous, since we're not even given [[SignatureScene the iconic "Bang" scene]]. Fortunately it's revealed that he survived according to the ''Expansion Pack'', but all of it ends up being an OffscreenMomentOfAwesome instead.]]
* BrainBleach: A carryover from ''Manga/MagicKnightRayearth''. While Umi does not have to see the muscular djinns of Chizeta due to them being AdaptedOut, she still gave out a disgusted "Eww, gross...!" when facing things that may be worse than them visually. Like [[Manga/GetterRobo the Invaders.]] Or [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Baron Ashura.]]
* BreakOutTheMuseumPiece: When the Kikaiju resurfaced after 10 years, Koji responds by re-activating Mazinger Z, which is outdated, mothballed and used to test out new Photon Power technology. Subverted because it had received numerous upgrades and now far surpasses its original power.
* BreakingOldTrends: [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico The "Prince of Darkness" Akito]] is playable as early as Stage 4 and while he leaves in Stage 8, he returns in Stage 15 and remains playable the entire game except for route splits. This is a significant change compared to ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsW W]]'' and ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsMX MX]]'' where he does not join permanently until almost the end, giving him LateCharacterSyndrome. ''R'' has his "Prince of Darkness" version playable at the start temporarily before using his original design again. Downplayed with ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsV V]]'' where he joins permanently early in the mid-game.
* BrokenPedestal:
** [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack Amuro]], [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Koji]] and [[Manga/GetterRobo Ryoma]] are aware their legendary status will lead to this when the younger generation of pilots actually get to know them as people, and all three make efforts to let them down gently. Judau still gets hit with it when he first meets Amuro due to the latter being AchillesInHisTent at the time, [[RebuiltPedestal but the pedestal's rebuilt]] when Amuro finally finds the strength to take the field and demonstrates the skills he's legendary for.
** [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Domon]] almost became one to [[Anime/GunXSword Van]] when he attempted a suicide attack to save Rain from Devil Gundam. On seeing that, Van revealed that he looked up to Domon as an inspirational figure thanks to the miracle of saving Rain in the 13th Gundam Fight, a man who made miracles with ThePowerOfLove. And Van used to think that if he was like Domon, even just a bit, he could've saved Elena. But seeing Domon concocting that kind of suicidal plan disappointed him and he resigned to just sit on the sidelines and watch him die. Thankfully, that was just Van's way to [[GetAHoldOfYourselfMan snap him out of his suicidal plan]], and the rest of the T3 cheered for him en masse, enabling Domon to pull a similar miracle that saved Rain and preserved Van's respect on him.
* CallBack:
** The Dynamic Reunion DLC makes reference on what the [[Manga/GetterRobo Getter Team]] and [[Anime/MazingerZ Mazinger Team]] [[CharacterizationMarchesOn were like during the classic 70's series]], such as Koji being much more prone to LeeroyJenkins tendencies, Tetsuya being an overcompetitive jerk, and Ryoma and Hayato bickering with each other at the drop of a hat, the last one apparently still remained even to the present.
** In Chapter 35 Earth route, since [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Dr. Hell ends up being the one to personally capture Tetsuya]], he appears in the map in an old form that didn't appear movie: the [[Anime/GreatMazinger Great Marshall of Hell.]]
** In the Beautiful Criminals DLC, the sight of girls bickering and having to hold a contest to decide who's the best, with her being forced to participate had [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico Ruri]] uttering a [[CharacterCatchphrase catchphrase]] that she has abandoned for a long time: [[SurroundedByIdiots "What a bunch of fools"/"Baka bakka"]]
* CallForward: [[Manga/MobileSuitCrossboneGundam Tobia]] commented that [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Judau]] will become a feisty oldster just like the [[Anime/GunXSword Eldora Team]]. Canonically, he became Grey Stoke, met the Crossbone Vanguard, and met [[Anime/MobileSuitVictoryGundam Usso Evin]] more than a decade later before setting out for deep space.
* TheCameo: [[spoiler:[[Characters/SuperRobotWarsV Soji and Chitose piloting either the the [=GranVang=] or [=VangNex=] depending on who is chosen as the lead during the cutscene and two Nine's who are the sub pilots of both machines, Velt in the Huckebein, and Lotte in the Grungust]] appear in one secret stage fighting against the Gardim while [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsX Amari, Iori, and Hopes in the Xelguard]] and [[Characters/MasouKishin Masaki and the Cybuster]] appear in another secret stage fighting against the order's golems. They have no bearing to the storyline of ''T'' and looked more like an EasterEgg to maybe promote their games... [[SubvertedTrope Or so we thought,]] [[{{Foreshadowing}} for these two secret stages set up their appearances as main characters in the Expansion Pack DLC.]]]]
** Even though ''Anime/CrossAnge'' didn't make it into this game, the nameless thug from the final episode makes an appearance in Scenario 2 as a wanted criminal, since he was credited as a generic NPC rather than a Cross Ange character back in ''V''. Also even more fittingly considering the situation in ''Anime/CrossAnge'', in this game he's given the name [[PunnyName Schown D. Rell]], just like the majority of 'humans' in that anime (while he's listed as 'Civilian', [[Anime/CowboyBebop Faye]] said his name out loud).
* CanonForeigner:
** ''Shin Mazinger'' may be absent, but this won't stop developer B.B. Studio from reaching beyond canon to expand on a Dynamic Productions series with the Shin Getter Dragon, whose only appearance was in ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkyURXKhVzA Getter Robo Daikessen]]!'', a Platform/PlayStation video game.
** In another instance of ''Super Robot Wars'' resurrecting a design left on the cutting room floor[[note]]Like the [[Anime/BlueCometSPTLayzner Layzner Mk-II]] and [[Manga/HadesProjectZeorymer Great Zeorymer]] in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsJudgment''[[/note]], ''T'' includes the Bellvine, an Aura Battler intended for Shion from ''New Story of Aura Battler Dunbine''.
*** The in-story reason is that while the Billbine was just a high specs Aura Battler that Queen Ciela Lapana had gifted to Show, the Bellvine was built specifically for him but had been left behind when everyone was transported to Upper Earth where for 700 years it sleeps as the ''Holy Maiden's Treasure''.
* CherryTapping: Harlock joins the "humans killing giant robots in a dynamic kill" group with the Arcadia's final attack where he steps out of the ship and points his sword at the enemy and fires a laser. This is based on scenes from the anime when the Arcadia's tube anchors are launched to {{board|ingParty}} enemy ships and Harlock fights off the intercepting crewmen.
** You can defeat the FinalBoss with a mere [[{{Mook}} Jegan.]] [[https://youtu.be/iW42c9ugV6s Using nothing but the Vulcan Cannons.]]
* ChildrenForcedToKill: Taking a leaf from [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsX the previous game]] with [[Anime/MashinHeroWataruSeries Wataru]], the game also averts this for the most part, as it's explicitly noted when [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth the Magic Knights]] first have to fight normal humans that they'll avoid hitting the cockpits. [[spoiler:Then it's played straight when they have to kill Princess Emeraude.]]
* CloseOnTitle: The title of Scenario 25 isn't shown until after both the map and the post-battle cutscenes have been completed: [[spoiler:"Project TND, Shelved"]] if you got the DLC giving you early access to the Gespenst, [[spoiler:"Final Days of Section 3"]] if you didn't.
* ColonyDrop: One happens early in the game where the heroes attempt to [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ stop one of the colonies]] from dropping to Earth. And in the IF route (no colonies were dropped in the normal route), [[spoiler:[[OriginalGeneration The UND]] end up being the ones to drop Axis on Earth, with [[Anime/GunXSword The Claw]] supporting them for his own reasons.]]
* CombatMedic: Amongst the [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Magic Knights]], Fuu is the only one who has a special Magic command, since she's the only one with utility spells like Winds of Healing and Winds of Protection.
* CombinationAttack: There were less than some of the previous games, but it's still there. The rules of the previous games also apply to this. The combo attacks available include:
** [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Double Mazinger Fire]]
** [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Shuffle Alliance Fist]]
** [[Anime/TheBraveExpressMightGaine Joint Dragon Fire]]
** [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Spiral Flash and Flash Sword]] (these combos follow the same rule as Joint Dragon Fire that it can only be initiated by Rayearth)
** [[Anime/GaoGaiGar GenRyuJin & GouRyuJin]]
** Full Staff Volley (Tryder G7 and Shuttle)
** While not an actual usable attack, in the DLC scenario, ''Decade-Long Trio'', Amuro, Koji and Ryoma does two, a Jet-Stream Attack as well as another involving Getter-3 launching Mazinger Z into the air to deliver a flying rocket punch while Amuro provides covering fire. Ryoma muses that the combination attack isn't complete without [[Anime/MobileSuitGundam Hayato and Kai]] to provide further covering fire.
** Tyranado's Combination TND is one between itself and the Carriax that supplies its weapons, while Tyranado Rex has two: Combination VTX and Quark Cluster Nova.
* ComesGreatResponsibility: [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth The Magic Knights]] realized that despite not being in Cephiro, they still possess the power as Magic Knights. Hikaru urges Umi and Fuu to use it for good things anyway, stating that there has to be a good reason why they're given such power [[spoiler:[[ItWasHisSled (though not exactly what they think it is)]]]]. The two immediately agreed.
* CombatPragmatist: A given with [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack Amuro Ray]], but one of the new attacks for the Hi-Nu Gundam showcases this with Amuro firing missed shots with the [[AttackDrones Fin Funnels]] and Hyper Bazooka at the enemy while leaving an E-pack on the field as he moves. As the target is led towards the discarded E-pack, the Hi-Nu fires at the latter and detonates it next to the enemy (complete with a color-negative freeze frame at the moment of impact).
* ContinuityNod:
** The encyclopedia entry for [[Anime/GaoGaiGar Sueo Ushiyama]] mentions that the second Ushiyama brother, Tsuguo, "[[Anime/{{Betterman}} appears in other works]]" without naming names.
** The entry for [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Mokona]] mentions that it has a [[GodWasMyCopilot much more important role]] in the manga.
** The entry for the [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack Musaka-class]] mentions that it also saw use during the [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamUnicorn Third Neo Zeon War]].
** While [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity the movie]] made subtle hints of throwing ''Anime/UFORoboGrendizer'' into CanonDiscontinuity, the game acknowledges its existence within the Mazinger history without any name-dropping. Including Amies wanting to [[https://youtu.be/YLwqAhafyaA?t=1451 interview]] Kouji's time in a certain ranch, Kouji himself [[https://youtu.be/_koRYKKLoUo?t=1314 reaffirming his promise]] to Duke Fleed to protect Earth in his absence (since he had to return to his home Planet Fleed to rebuild it in the epilogue), and Amuro and Ryoma threatening to expose his [[https://youtu.be/SQZqkaeC5QU?t=336 temporary romance]] to Maria Grace Fleed to Sayaka.
** When [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Elle]] complained about having to pilot a Jegan instead of her Gundam Mk-II, Astonaige told her that the Jegan is a machine that will go down in the history books [[Anime/GundamReconguistaInG centuries later]].
* ContrivedCoincidence: Lampshaded at one point by Spike and Faye, when Might Gunner and Might Kaiser show up not long after Joe starts wondering why Maito isn't using Great Mightgaine to fight him. Akito tells them to deal with it, because "that's how heroes work."
* CoolShip: The player gets access to four of them: Ra Cailum, Arcadia, Nadesico-B that upgrades to Nadesico-C, and NSX.
* CutscenePowerToTheMax: The [[Manga/GetterRobo Stoner Sunshine]] debuts by taking out several Metal Beasts at once in a cutscene. When it's actually used by the player, it's not a MAP attack.
* CuttingOffTheBranches: Averted with the returning OriginalGeneration characters from ''V'' and ''X'': before each stage in which they appear, the ''T'' characters discuss hypothetical situations that are basically the plot of those games, and allow the player to pick which of the two main characters was the protagonist. In the case of ''V'', the second [=VangRay=] has also been upgraded into the powered-up form that didn't get picked for the protagonist, so the player doesn't have to choose between [=GranVang=] and [=VangNex=].
* CycleOfHatred: [[spoiler:The Bern Burnings side of his soul overwhelms Rabaan and for much of the story, he saw himself as Bern, obsessed with continuing his past life's vendetta against Show. It took until just moments before his death to be freed from his past hatred and be himself again. He laments that he was not strong enough to learn from his past mistakes and yet, hopes to meet Show and Shion again in their next lives, this time, as friends.]]
* DarkerAndEdgier: PlayedWith. When compared to its [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsX predecessor]], ''T'' is definitely more serious and less lighthearted, as much more serious things happened. However, compared to [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsV its further predecessor]], it IS a bit lighter, making ''T'' the middle road of the SlidingScaleOfSillinessVersusSeriousness of the International Era games.
* DemotedToExtra:
** [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Rain Mikamura]] is a support-only character as opposed to the previous titles where she could be deployed inside the Rising Gundam.
** Since she didn't pilot anything in the original movie as well, this can also apply to [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Sayaka Yumi]], who in other games featuring a Mazinger entry could be deployed with either Aphrodite A or Venus A. And unlike Rain, Sayaka is not even a Support character, but she still have a good deal of presence in cutscenes and story. Boss is also reduced to Support GuestStarPartyMember rather than riding his Boss Borot and joining the team like usual, considering that he actually rode it in the movie (even if it's just for a strategic diversion), and only if you take the Earth route for Stage 36, otherwise you don't even meet him.
** [[Manga/CaptainHarlock The Illumidas]], despite being the villains of ''Endless Orbit SSX'', never actually appear in the game, with the DLC stage 'Wandering Strangers' giving the only mention that they even exist in this universe. Due to this, their role as "the alien forces that Mr. Zone joins up with" is given to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adKJbx7wzjE&feature=youtu.be&t=2839 the Company]].
** [[Anime/TheBraveExpressMightGaine Shogun Mifune and the Shadow Army]] are only represented by their mechas being Zonderized, and Kochou/Luna Naito already settling as Hamada's girlfriend and the UND did not bring him back, since [[spoiler:he's the only major villain that was arrested at the end of the show, so he's basically still in jail or on the run from the Nouvelle Tokyo police with no resource to exploit.]] Hoi Kow Low and the Asian Mafia also shared a similar treatment, but at least Hoi and Chinja Rose still appear in one DLC where they're still running their restaurant business (and being afraid that Maito would pound them flat if they get back to crime business).
** Due to the changes to ''New Story of Aura Battler'''s plot, Reml Jilfreed is no longer a main heroine who assists Shion and instead spends most of ''T'' as Rabaan's DamselInDistress.
** Vicious, the BigBad of ''Anime/CowboyBebop'', only appeared in one scene and then became TheUnfought along with the rest of his Red Dragons. Judging with how ''Cowboy Bebop'' is already stretching the requirement entry of a series in SRW, this may be an inevitable result.
** Despite being part of the NSX crews, [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Zazu Torque]] only appears in cutscenes, not even being a part of the NSX Spirit Command list, nor is he part of the Support crews.
** In spite of [[Anime/GunXSword Wendy]]'s pet tortoise Kameo being present in her character sprites and mentioned in her Character Archives entry[[note]]which may be unreliable sometimes as it leans more on the anime's canonical events instead of the game's[[/note]], he isn't brought up in conversations unlike some of the other {{Team Pet}}s like [[Anime/CowboyBebop Ein]] and [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Mokona]].
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: [[Anime/GunXSword Van's]] {{Revenge}} obsession doesn't escape [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Lady Debonair's]] notice and [[EmotionEater she's more than happy to feast on it.]] Van tells her[[spoiler:, an EldritchAbomination created out of the negative emotions of mankind,]] to buzz off his revenge quest and calls her "a wrinkled old hag in an ugly dress" for good measure.
* DinosaursAreDragons: Downplayed. After the [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Rune Gods]] join the team, in an intermission, Rami compared them with the [[Anime/TheBraveExpressMightGaine Bombers Team.]] It's a spot-on comparison, except comparing Selece (Dragon) and Dino Bomber (Dinosaur). However, in case of the original Japanese, it makes much more sense when you consider that the Japanese word for Dinosaur is 'Kyoryuu' (Fierce Dragon)
* DoggedNiceGuy: Reconstructed. [[spoiler:Turns out [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Allenby]] hadn't really gotten over the fact that she [[DidNotGetTheGirl didn't get Domon]], [[IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy letting him end up with Rain.]] These feelings were bottled up long enough that she ends up being manipulated and entering Berserk Mode again. After she recovered from that, she fully accepted her role and even mastered the Berserk Mode for her to use because of it.]]
* DoomedByCanon:
** Due to its importance with the ''Manga/MagicKnightRayearth'' plot, [[spoiler:you cannot avert the tragedy of Emeraude and Zagato.]]
** Also, due to [[TheyKilledKennyAgain his reputation]] and the game continuity only lasting for one title, you know [[Manga/GetterRobo Musashi]] isn't going to be with you until the end of game.
* DubNameChange:
** The English version uses the altered names from the North American run of ''G Gundam'', such as "Burning Gundam" instead of "God Gundam", "Dark Gundam" instead of "Devil Gundam", and "Noble Gundam" instead of "Nobel Gundam". Like ''X'', which changed original character "Hopes" to "Spero", the undubbed audio makes it obvious the names were changed. Excepting one InconsistentDub occasion (see below), the name changes are pretty consistent throughout the game.
** ''Rayearth'' also uses the slightly more fanciful spell names from the English version instead of directly translating the Japanese names.
** ''Dunbine'' follows the dub and uses the term "Aura Battler" for the pilots as well instead of "Holy Knight"[[note]]In the original Japanese script, "Aura Battler" was only used in reference to Humanoid-Model Aura Machines[[/note]] which creates a bit of LostInTranslation when it comes to meeting the [[Anime/MagicKnightRayearth Magic Knights]].
* DroppedABridgeOnHim: Combined with HeelFaceDoorSlam. In the Normal Route, [[spoiler:at the finale of ''Anime/GunXSword'', both Michael and Fasalina realized their love with each other and thought they could move on beyond the Clawed Man's plans. Thus, they offered a surrender to the T3... and suddenly, [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Dr. Hell]] arrived and opened fire to the field since he saw the Clawed Man as an obstacle and the T3 just removed it for him. It is implied that Michael and Fasalina were caught in the crossfire and slain.]]
* ElementalPowers: Another given thanks to ''Magic Knight Rayearth'', meaning there will be [[PlayingWithFire fire (Rayearth)]], [[MakingASplash water (Selece)]], and [[BlowYouAway wind (Windam)]] among the Magic Knights, though [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsGaiden this isn't the first time]] ''Super Robot Wars'' has dabbled with this. Adding to that are the [[Anime/GaoGaiGar Dragon Siblings]], which has all those in addition to [[ShockAndAwe lightning]].
* EndOfAnAge: A major theme is that Earth, Jupiter, and Mars are in the "Twilight Age." Multiple disasters from all the series have resulted in a lawless time full of bandits and corrupt government, with society stagnating. Technology had not only stagnated but also regressed. [[Anime/CowboyBebop Spike's Swordfish II]] is suspected by Meryl to be from the pre-Twilight Age and, despite being a 20-80 year old customized civilian aircraft, is comparable to current state of the art military technology.
* EveryoneHasStandards: [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico Akito]] has been robbed of his sense of taste and even beforehand, had witnessed [[LethalChef horrific cooking results by Yurika, Megumi and Ryoko.]] Take all those, and even he was ''baffled'' with what [[Anime/GunXSword Van]] usually made to eat ([[https://youtu.be/yNKuk29_QJc?t=125 pick a good meal, put all the condiments they had...]])
-->'''Akito''': This is an [[InsultToRocks affront to cuisine...]]
* FaceYourFears: Phobias do not go away instantly just because there was one event that made the scared one overcome it. [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Chibodee]] learned it the hard way when he ended up facing [[Anime/CowboyBebop Tongpu]] in an attempt to save [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico Ruri]] and failed since his phobia against [[MonsterClown clowns]] still existed despite his victory against Jester Gundam in the past.
* FamedInStory: Owing to several members of the cast having either already completed the events of their series, coming from sequels, or otherwise being part way through them, they are often recognised for their feats by others. To wit, [[Anime/GreatMazinger Tetsuya]] is introduced as the hero who saved the world ten years prior; the crew also realise that 'the highest bounty in the solar system' could only refer to [[Manga/CaptainHarlock one man]].
* TheFirstCutIsTheDeepest: In the [=DLC=] scenario "Armored Fight, Ready Go!" as well as the irregular route reveals that Allenby hasn't really gotten over her attraction to Domon, but being reminded about it is something of a BerserkButton for her [[spoiler:enough so that it is used to fuel the new Berserker System in Scenario 33]].
* FishOutOfWater: [[https://youtu.be/zS1sR155u8k?t=54m30s Shion exhibits this once he gets transported from Byston Well to Earth]]. Umi finds it amusing that he exhibits all the cliche reactions one would expect from a person in his situation.
-->'''Shion:''' Hey, slow down! How is that picture in the box moving?!
-->'''Umi:''' Oh wow, a bona fide cliche reaction from Shion! I love it!
* FishOutOfTemporalWater: Since the events of the original ''Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine'' happened 700 years before the game started, Show, Marvel and Tod ended up rather startled with how technology has advanced much further than in their time when they got back to Earth for the first time.
* FlamingSword: [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Hikaru]]'s final solo attack, Flame Sword (which was never named in the original anime), turns her sword into literal fire. It's more powerful than her traditional spells like Flame Arrow or Ruby Lightning.
* FlashStep: Units from Dunbine return with their "Off Shoot" ability to dash around the air at high speeds which is reflected in several attack animations as well as an evasion mechanic.
* ForeverWar: [[Anime/ArmoredTrooperVotoms The Astragius Galaxy]] has been at war for 100 years. It had lasted for so long that the people had forgotten exactly why they were at war in the first place.
* {{Foreshadowing}}:
** It may surprise you to see that for some reason, [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Zagato and Emeraude]] are familiar with the terms [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Mazin or Mycenae]] (less so in the Japanese version for the former; see LostInTranslation entry below). Way later near the end of the game, Dr. Hell revealed that [[spoiler:the Mycenae civilization used to invade Cephiro, but was repelled by Emeraude, Zagato and the Rune Gods. In retaliation, they created Mazinger Infinity based on the Rune Gods, since they believed that it could destroy the order of nature, in a similar way that the Rune Gods are the only beings capable of killing the Pillar that provided order and stability in Cephiro.]]
** Way back in the beginning scenarios of the game, [[https://youtu.be/WadUQIw9cYU?t=891 Spike and Faye followed a terrorist group in a world with only a yellow sky]]. They couldn't find their way out till Ruri and the Nadesico was able to get to them to bail them out. [[spoiler:It's where the real Arcadia, Harlock's final destination, resides.]]
** [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Show and Shion]] has the exact same spirit commands and nearly identical stats, but Shion's Skill stat is a bit lower and he doesn't have Show's Break Morale Limit skill. [[spoiler:This is because Shion is Show's reincarnation and had inherited his abilities, but as a new Battler, he lacks the experience and resolve of Show who had already gone through the events of ''Aura Battler Dunbine''.]]
** When [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Master Asia]] first appeared and was fought as an enemy, when the name Dyma was mentioned, Master Asia scoffed at it, declaring that Dyma has no idea about what a Gundam Fight truly meant, while Dyma has so far presented himself as a heroic, supportive, encouraging man with his best interests directed at mankind. [[spoiler:By the time Dyma showed his true colors as [[ItsAllAboutMe an egotistical man]], suddenly Master Asia's warnings made sense.]]
** Near the end of the game, it's revealed that [[spoiler: a small part of the [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Devil Gundam]] lived on inside Rain's body and continued to grow and evolve.]] This is almost exactly the same as [[spoiler: how EI-01 implanted the New Machine Species into Mikoto, which eventually became the Zonuda]].
** After [[spoiler:Goldwin's HeroicSacrifice]], it's briefly mentioned in the intermission that he was born on Mars, [[spoiler:meaning he too can initiate the Boson Jump.]]
* FunWithAcronyms: The OriginalGeneration of ''T'' hails from the "[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsV V]][[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsT T]][[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsX X]] Union". Each of the letters were used as the titles of the preceding ''Super Robot Wars'' installments, including this one.
* FusionDance: [[spoiler:When playing the Hard route of the ''T Expansion Pack'', the FinalBoss will be a fusion between [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsV Nevanlinna]] and [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsX Ende]] named "Nevanende".]]
* FusionFic: RevisitingTheRoots to focus on one Earth and universe, unlike ''V'' and ''X'', forces more {{Commonality|Connection}} and AdaptationOriginConnection between the involved series.
** Rather than as a separate planet, [[Anime/GunXSword Endless Illusion]] is now simply a part of Mars. However, it is later revealed that [[spoiler:the whole Solar System ''is'' Endless Illusion, at least from the eyes of the natives of [[Anime/ArmoredTrooperVOTOMS Astragius Galaxy]], since the Clawed Man is actually from there and stumbled on the Solar System while searching for a world without war, and simply named it as such.]]
** [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico Ruri]] notes that Dann of Thursday can Boson Jump by itself. [[spoiler: Because the Original Seven were made by the same ancient civilization that invented the calculation unit]].
** The first Zonder Human to pilot [=GaoGaiGar=]'s EvilKnockoff is [[spoiler:[[Anime/TheBraveExpressMightGaine Professor Wolfgang]]]].
** [[Manga/CaptainHarlock Tochiro]] created the [[Manga/MobileSuitCrossboneGundam Peacock Smasher]].
** [[spoiler:[[Anime/TheBraveExpressMightGaine Black Noir]]]] turned out to be the legacy of the Black Planet, a civilization management system created as a countermeasure to the [[Anime/GaoGaiGar Zonders]], until [[spoiler:[[AIIsACrapshoot it gained sentience and delusions of godhood.]]]]
** After the finale of ''Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine'', [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Byston Well]] has decayed so much that it merged with [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Cephiro]] to continue its existence, a status quo that lasted for 700 years.
** The story of ''Manga/GetterRobo Armageddon'' feels like combining aspects of the first half and the classic [='70s=] anime. The most visible examples of this is Musashi [[AscendedExtra sticking longer than in the OVA]] and dying [[spoiler:in a HeroicSacrifice that had the team grieving for him]], and then replaced with Benkei in that same time. Meanwhile, they still fought the Invaders instead of the Dinosaur Empire, Ryoma was still falsely accused and thrown to jail whereas Prof. Saotome went rogue and aligned with the Invaders [[spoiler:somewhat]].
** [[Anime/{{Gunbuster}} Coach Ohta]] is no longer the only person that has a space radiation sickness. [[spoiler:[[Manga/CaptainHarlock Tochiro]] also has the same sickness.]]
** Why do the people of the [[Anime/ArmoredTrooperVotoms Astragius galaxy]], including the inhabitants of [[Anime/ExpelledFromParadise DEVA]], look exactly like humans? [[spoiler: Because they are the descendants of the Frontier Setter project, a top secret interstellar exploration project that started during the Golden Age, which used untested technologies to transform its members into computer personalities. However, the leaders of the project made a deal with Wiseman, who erased their records and memories of Earth.]]
** The [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Mycenae civilization]] is a multi-dimension invading clan that also targetted [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Cephiro]], but was thwarted by prayers of the Pillar of that time, Princess Emeraude, assisted with her high priest Zagato and the Rune Gods. In response, [[spoiler:they analyzed the Rune Gods, realizing that they had the power to destroy the natural order, and based on the data, they created Mazinger Infinity. After they finished Infinity, however, they were preoccupied with invasion of other places until [[Anime/GreatMazinger they targeted Earth and fell at the hands of Tetsuya Tsurugi]], so they never got to use Infinity for its original purpose.]]
** [[Anime/CowboyBebop Mad Pierrot]] is stated to be a [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico Martian Successor]] genetic experiment.
* TheFuture: Given [[Franchise/{{Gundam}} the]] [[Manga/CaptainHarlock install]][[Anime/CowboyBeBop ments]], pretty much a given. Though it's actually given a solid date here, specifically, it's noted that TokyoTower (which was built in 1984) was built 700 years ago, thus pinning the game some time in the late 2600s.
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: The whole plot started with VTX trying to sell the Tyranado to the Earth Federation Forces as its next mass production mobile weapon. However, as the story progresses, it becomes more and more clear what a ridiculously impractical design it is compared to BoringButPractical weapons used by the EFF, like the Jegan: It's too difficult for the protagonist to pilot solo, while a mass production unit needed to be accessible to anyone. Most of its weapons have to be launched from the Carriax, meaning mass producing it would have to involve mass producing the Carriax as well. Also, it requires two pilots ''and'' a whole crew in the Carriax just to be used effectively, raising the cost of pilot training exponentially. None of these problems are addressed in the story.
** In fact, when [[spoiler:Dyma mass produced the Tyranado as the Tyrando]], he had to [[spoiler:replace the pilot with AIs and launch the weapons from his fortress instead of Carriax]]. It's telling that so many alterations had to be made just for it to work as intended.
** As was common in previous games featuring ''Anime/ArmoredTrooperVotoms'', the unnamed AT pilots all share the same recorded in-battle dialogue, which normally isn't a problem. However, ''T'' features a line where the pilot wonders if any non-''Votoms'' unit is "a new Balarant weapon," a line which makes little-to-no sense if said pilot is from Balarant.
* GoingNative:
** Like the [[Anime/ExpelledFromParadise movie]], Angela slowly grows to enjoy her life in a Material Body and the culture of Earth. While she had done amazing things within DEVA, from listening to gamma ray bursts 10 billion light years away and feeling subatomic particles against her fingertips, after living in the real world, all of it feels fake and she can no longer believe anything anymore unless she can feel it against her own skin.
** Dingo of course, adapts quickly to Earth culture. Justified since ''Expelled From Paradise'' originally took place on Earth where he's from.
** Subverted with [[Anime/ArmoredTrooperVotoms Coconna and Vanila]], who while they enjoy Earth's culture, they still prefer it back in the Astragius galaxy.
** [[spoiler:Rudi Pixyzalto rather enjoys her time on Earth and has even prefers to wear Earth clothing, much to the annoyance of her superiors. In the true ending, she decides to stay and live on Earth.]]
* GrandFinale: The Expansion Pack is basically this trope towards the International Era ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWars'', reuniting the protagonists of the [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsV previous]] [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsX games]] with this game's protagonists and taking the game's current included series to [[spoiler:tackle on the enemy faction and final bosses of the previous games that seemingly came BackFromTheDead.]]
* GreaterScopeVillain: In this continuity, [[spoiler:[[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Lady Debonair]] works on a global scale rather than contained within Cephiro only, and also responsible for the creation of the [[Anime/{{Gunbuster}} Space Terrible Monster Creatures]] as her extension on normal Earth, and they became one of the catalyst of stagnation of mankind and the start of Twilight Age. In addition, anything she ever breathed on will become wicked, including the [[Manga/GetterRobo Invaders coming out of Getter Rays]], [[Anime/GaoGaiGar Zonders coming to Earth]] and why [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam the Ultimate Gundam malfunctioned and turned into Devil Gundam in the first place.]] She's also responsible for the creation of Atrum, resurrecting herself after being slain in the main game and then summoning the soul of Ende, who in turn summoned the soul of System Nevanlinna, all of which decided to work together to get revenge on their respective casts.]]
* TheGreatestStoryNeverTold: The events of ''Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine'' are reduced to a legend and referred to as the "Aura Battler Incident" due to lack of further evidence proving Byston Well's existence. All research remained in the history books and those who only know it are military personnel like [[Anime/MobileSuitGundam Bright]] and [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico Ruri]], {{Otaku}} like [[Manga/CaptainHarlock Tochiro]], and curious researchers like [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Fuu]].
* GrowingUpSucks: Invoked by [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Dr. Hell]] in the IF route. He basically bid his time to appear and the young, rash Koji Kabuto actually grow up, learn about the limits presented by the harsh reality and that of science and logic, and because of that, he forgot his old daredevil attitude that ignored logic and enabled him to prevail against odds in the past, all of it plus the overwhelming presence of Mazinger Infinity sent him straight to HeroicBSOD.
* GuestFighter: Like the Grungust and Huckebein in ''V'' and Cybuster in ''X'', a black-colored Gespenst is playable in ''Terra'' as the secondary protagonist's unit.
* GuestStarPartyMember:
** [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Master Asia]] flirts with this status on a fair number of stages before either leaving forever or becoming a permanent ally, depending on the player's choices.
** A pair of secret stages allow the protagonists and supporting OG characters of ''V'' and ''X'' to join the party as guest stars. Sadly, they leave as swiftly as they'd arrived.
** Taking the Earth route in Scenario 35-36 will give you [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Boss, Nuke, and Mucha]] as a Guest Support in Scenario 36. Afterwards, they leave your Support pool.
** King J-Der, Haman, Char, Gyunei, and Quess are all temporarily playable on at least one stage before their proper recruitment. Only the first three are guaranteed to join you later.
* GuideDangIt: The SR Point requirements are displayed in the Objectives. Bonus [=TacP=] requirements are NOT, so to know what else you need to be doing to get those bonuses, you need to consult a guide.
* HarderThanHard: In addition to the "Expert Mode" introduced in ''X'', patch 1.03 introduces the new "Super Expert Mode" where enemies as early as ''Scenario 0'' will have at least ''five bars'' in their stats. EarlyGameHell at its finest especially if players attempt to play this mode on a fresh file. Meanwhile, patch 1.04 introduces the ''T Expansion Pack'' where players can only start playing it by loading a clear save file of the main game. It has its own exclusive difficulty where it combines the Super Expert difficulty of the main game with its own difficulty, "Hyper Custom" where starting enemies have at least ''15 bars of upgrades''.
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: Owing to ''Anime/TheBraveExpressMightGaine'' being a PostScriptSeason, this is what Joe's life revolves around. He started out as an antagonistic rival with Maito, until he found out about the murderer of his father and that person being linked with the murder of Maito's parents, so he teamed up with him and eventually left in a good note. Come in this game, however, once he avenged his father, he lost his purpose and only had his 'might is right' philosophy to back on, so he ended up on the UND side for another chance to fight Maito, lost, and then joined him for good.
* HistoryRepeats:
** [[spoiler:[[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Rain]] gets turned into a DamselInDistress and grafted into the core of Devil Gundam ''again'', despite the events already happening in the 13th Gundam Fight]]
** Show dejectedly notes that the same thing is happening in Byston Well as it did 700 years ago when he was summoned as a Battler. Tod also sees this happening at the beginning with him joining Rabaan, only to decide not to waste his second chance at life and become a better person.
* HotBlooded: Notably for several reasons.
** This title unites characters in the 1990s having this specific trait in a standout manner, such as [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Domon Kasshu]], [[Anime/GaoGaiGar Guy Shishioh]] and [[Anime/{{Gunbuster}} Noriko Takaya]]. To date, Domon has yet to interact with the others in any standard ''Super Robot Wars'' game[[note]]They only met in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsXOmega'', which does not have the typical interaction and game-play[[/note]]; the last time Guy and Noriko met was in ''Alpha 3''. Additionally, if there is one trait [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Hikaru Shidou]] (also from the same decade) is well-known for, it's this trope.
** This is the first ''Super Robot Wars'' instalment to include two ''Brave Series'' entries in one game: ''Might Gaine'' and ''[=GaoGaiGar=]'', the latter known for its {{Mecha}} action forefront. Both series' protagonists are voiced by Creator/NobuyukiHiyama, largely deemed to be at the peak of this trait in his role as Guy. Adding to this, the [[Anime/GunXSword El Dora V]] is purposefully based on both titular machines, whose pilots are just as passionate as Guy.
* HopeCrusher: [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Lady Debonair]] either takes cues from or improves the despair-spreader schthick from [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsDestiny Perfectio]], as when her Morale reaches a certain number, all units within 10 space radius from her gets a -10 Morale penalty.
* HumansAreSpecial: Around mid-game, it's revealed that [[spoiler: what UND really wanted wasn't the Quark Drive, but humanity itself. They possess a hidden potential for piloting mobile weapons that can be unlocked with a little training. To prove this point, Rudi cites numerous examples of [[FallingIntoTheCockpit pilots with little to no prior training]] able to keep up with ace pilots.]]
* InconsistentDub: The Dynamic Kill of Domon's Sekiha Tenkyoken had him follow up with Sekiha Tenkyo... ''God'' Finger? This is despite the rest of the ''G Gundam'' terms consistently using the DubNameChange.
* IncurableCoughOfDeath: Notably, [[Anime/{{Gunbuster}} Coach Ohta]] has a special sprite showing the aftermath of him [[BloodFromTheMouth coughing blood]] and his glasses coming off as a sign of his space radiation sickness. And meanwhile, one of [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Eagle's]] sprites is him covering his mouth like he just coughed, showing his terminal illness. [[{{Determinator}} Both of them don't let it get to them and continue to support/fight for the T3 as best as they could.]]
* TheIngenue: [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Hikaru]]'s innocence is played further in this game, as apparently, she doesn't even know what the word 'philanderer' means.
* InNameOnly: The final battle for ''[[Manga/MobileSuitCrossboneGundam Crossbone Gundam]]'' is named "The Steel Seven". However, since ''Steel 7'' is once again unit-only, the only thing it has to do with the source material is the premise of [[spoiler: Jupiter Empire trying to destroy Earth with a colony laser]], and the titular Steel 7 is actually [[spoiler: Kincade and Tobia plus Amuro, Kamille, Judau, Haman, and Char]].
* InterfaceSpoiler: Having learned from their mistake from ''V'', the developers have made it so that profile of the original enemy characters and units cannot be viewed during gameplay until their true identity is [[TheReveal revealed in the story]]... Unfortunately, they forgot to do the same for their entries in the library, which can be viewed immediately after their first appearances.
* TheKnightsWhoSaySquee:
** [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Hikaru Shidou]] met [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Kouji Kabuto]] during her trip to Tokyo Tower and she's ''really'' pleased, acknowledging his history of piloting the Mazinger Z. So is Umi Ryuuzaki, except she prefers ''Anime/GreatMazinger'', and [[ClosetGeek requires a bit more close-association and less public place first before gushing]].
** [[Anime/GunXSword Pricilla]] became an Armor Fighter and made it her goal in life to challenge her idol in Gundam Fights, [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Allenby Beardsley]] in a match. [[https://youtu.be/oN_LOybNB_I?t=896 The next thing she realizes, she's instead fighting side by side with the Gundam Fighter]]. Of course she's happy.
** Really, in general, a good portion of the cast fawns over their predecessors.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: [[spoiler:The appearances of ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsV V]]'' and ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsX X]]'' originals in the base game's secret stages and the Expansion Pack come with the cost of them being hit with partial amnesia due to dimension-hopping to ''T''[='=]s universe. This is to make sure they don't confuse the heroes in ''T'' by recognizing the heroes from the series that were featured in their games as someone they're familiar with ([[Manga/GetterRobo the Getter Team]], [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico Akito and the Nadesico Crews]] (''V''), [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine the Aura Battlers]] (''X''), the UC ''Gundam'' crews, [[Anime/TheBraveExpressMightGaine the Brave Express Corps]] (both), and to an extent, [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity the Mazinger team]] (both met [[Anime/ShinMazinger another version of the Mazinger crews]]). This is lifted in the Expansion Pack's ending, and the first thing they discuss with T3 upon regaining their memories is indeed the recognition of said heroes as alternate universe incarnations of people they knew.]]
* LateArrivalSpoiler: The hidden stages that feature [[spoiler: the protagonists of ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsV'' and ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsX'']] contain blatant spoilers regarding [[spoiler: the true identity of the two game's antagonists]].
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall:
** In Scenario 1's post-battle dialogue, the protagonist walks in on Rami and tells her that she's "really taking [her] time putting [her] face on" when she's BehindTheBlack because [[spoiler:the colors of her eyes and hair have changed]]. The protagonist in-universe may be talking about getting ready or applying makeup, but it is {{literal|Metaphor}} for the readers.
** The Ace Interview of [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Lantis]] ends with Rami thinking that he looks like a character from a shoujo manga. ''Manga/MagicKnightRayearth'' is actually classified as a shoujo series.
* LegionOfDoom: After the Company/UND experimented with recruiting three random people to be their pilot, they resorted to recruiting a group of villains and {{Anti Villain}}s to do their bidding, a group consisting of [[Anime/MobileSuitZetaGundam Yazan Gable]], [[Manga/CaptainHarlock Mr. Zone]], [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Eagle Vision and Geo Metro]], [[Anime/TheBraveExpressMightGaine Professor Wolfgang, Joe Rival and Catherine Vuitton]]. The not-so-villainous ones like Eagle, Geo and Joe [[DefeatMeansFriendship got beaten and talked down to joining the T3.]] Eventually, they replaced those who booted with [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Rakan]], [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico Hokushin]] and [[spoiler:[[Anime/TheBraveExpressMightGaine Exev]]]]. And in the final stage, they also drafted [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Allen and Jeril]].
* LeeroyJenkins:
** Discussed during ''Anime/GaoGaiGar'''s debut. [[Anime/{{Gunbuster}} Noriko Takaya]] stood to beckon the Zonders despite having no fighting experience, using just a weak mech and basically disobeying orders, buying enough time for Guy to make his entrance. When she came back, Guy praised her for being brave, but Coach Ohta reprimanded her to not let it get through her head, because [[MoralLuck she only looked brave because Guy was coming.]] If Guy didn't come, she would've been slaughtered and considered reckless instead.
** Played more dramatically in the climax of ''Manga/GetterRobo Armageddon'' plot. Ryoma is extremely blinded by vengeance against Saotome for being falsely accused that he charged straight to the Shin Getter Dragon, ignoring everything else, against his team's wishes, just for a shot against Saotome. [[spoiler:It took a HeroicSacrifice by Musashi to get him to calm down, since it also enabled him to see Saotome being GoodAllAlong and secretly guiding the team to stand against the Invaders.]]
* LetsGetDangerous: [[Anime/GunXSword Carlos]], the last sub-pilot of El Dora Soul, is [[HeavySleeper always asleep]] and only had a 30-cost Flash as contribution. But if you deploy the El Dora Soul at Scenario 51, not only you get the [=TacP=] bonus, Carlos will decide to stay awake until the struggle with UND ends, therefore getting a boost in his SP points and a different SP command list (10-cost ''Foresee'' (Flash on anyone you like), Daunt and Disrupt). There's a good deal of difference between sleeping and awakened Carlos.
* LetsSplitUpGang: Once again, route splits exist, but there are variations.
** The first split is the traditional Earth vs. Space split, where the RealRobot Gundams head to space and everyone else stays on Earth.
** The next two splits follow an OrderVersusChaos thematic: On the Chaos side, [[Manga/CaptainHarlock the Arcadia]] will have [[Manga/GetterRobo the Getter Team]], [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Gundam Fighters]], [[Anime/ArmoredTrooperVOTOMS AT Pilots]], [[Anime/GunXSword Van's group]], [[Manga/MobileSuitCrossboneGundam Crossbone Vanguard]], [[Anime/CowboyBebop Bebop Team]], [[Anime/ExpelledFromParadise ex-DEVA Agents]] and [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico Akito]] alone; whereas the [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico Nadesico]] on the Order side will have [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack the]] [[Anime/MobileSuitZetaGundam Londo]] [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Bell]], [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Mazinger Team]], [[Anime/TheBraveExpressMightGaine Brave]] [[Anime/GaoGaiGar Robots]], Takeo General Company, [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Aura Battlers]], [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Magic Knights]] and [[Anime/{{Gunbuster}} Top Squadron]].
** The penultimate split-up channels the thematic of ''V''[='=]s final split and every split in ''X'' of "''Gundam'' guest-starring another battleship and/or RealRobot series vs. everything else", where all the RealRobot Gundams and the Nadesico are stationed in space to witness Char's rise from the shadow, while everyone else stays on Earth due to extra firepower required to face off Dr. Hell.
** The last route split is an aversion. The T3 gets to choose a route split between siding with either Char or Haman or remaining neutral but none of them involve splitting their groups, they just affect the order of battles and who will temporarily help them before they backstab the T3 (or in case of remaining neutral, both Char and Haman immediately teams up to attack T3).
* LostInTranslation:
** A lot of the Magic Knight's interactions with the Dunbine cast and talking about their titles makes more sense when you consider how "Aura Battler" was originally "Holy Knight." So Magic and Holy Knights.
** The significance of ''Rayearth'' characters calling the Mazingers as "Rune Gods" and ''Mazinger'' characters referring to Rune Gods as "demon gods" is lost to those who aren't aware that the Rune Gods are [[DubNameChange called]] "[[UsefulNotes/JapaneseRomanization Mashin/Mazin]] (demon 魔, god 神)" in the original Japanese.
* LostTechnology:
** The story treats many technologies from the Twilight Age as incomparable to that of the Golden Age. The explanation was that with mass recession, humanity became disinterested in space travel along with multiple back to back major wars that led to a regression of technology. Examples given are:
*** [[Anime/CowboyBebop Spike]]'s Swordfish II, a beat-up customized civilian aircraft being comparable to modern state-of-the-art military machines.
*** Manga/CaptainHarlock's Arcadia, which the Earth Federation is so desperate to acquire that they're willing to falsely label Harlock as a pirate and pursue to the ends of the solar system.
** The events of [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Aura Battler Dunbine]] took place 700 years prior to the start of the game and was noted that like the series, Earth was completely helpless and could only watch on as both sides of Byston Well tried to kill one another, before they mysteriously vanished. It was discovered that Aura Battlers had also completely vanished from Byston Well and for 700 years, technology in Byston Well had stagnated. When Aura Battlers re-emerged, they were the exact same models from 700 years ago and are still more than a match for modern state-of-the-art mecha from Earth.
* MagicalGirl: The first traditional ''Super Robot Wars'' game to include a series from this genre, although ''Rayearth'' is an atypical example[[note]]It mixes with HeroicFantasy adventure and HumongousMecha, and its heroines do not have the archetypal frilly dress[[/note]]; it also counts as MagicalGirlWarrior.
* MagikarpPower: [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth The Magic Knights]], similarly with [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsX the previous game's]] protagonists, starts out underwhelming that they would struggle to kill. However, they have several event-based upgrades that would boost their performances and they will gain new attacks as well. By the end game, they will become far stronger if you have been keeping tabs on them, and also possessing one of the strongest CombinationAttack available. In battle as well, their stats are further boosted with their exclusive skill Magic Knight, which scales with their Morale, so as they gain Morale, they get even better bonuses than the normal Morale bonuses.
* {{Magitek}}: Like the preceding ''X'', ''T'' leans towards this with ''Dunbine'', though ''Rayearth'' is an explicit example; even both ''Brave Series'' trend toward this territory per its setting.
* MidSeasonUpgrade: The Tyranado later gets upgraded into the Tyranado Rex. Despite its name, no [[UsefulNotes/TyrannosaurusRex certain famous gigantic dinosaur]] was involved, nor puns about it. [[NonIndicativeName In fact]], it remains a medium-sized Real Robot instead of becoming a huge Super Robot.
* MoodDissonance: Averted. If a pilot just attained an Ace status when the scenario ends in a sour or sad note (Example:[[spoiler: the protagonist getting shot down and hospitalized just as Special Section 3 looked as if it's about to be dismantled, or [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth the death of Princess Emeraude]].]]), there won't be any Ace congratulations during that intermission, they'll get congratulated in the next scenario when the situation is lighter.
* MotionCaptureMecha: The [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Gundam fighters of course]] as well as [[Anime/GunXSword Pricilla's Brownie and Van's Dann of Thursday]] utilze this function. In fact, it's implied that the system used by the Gundam Fighters in fact came from studying ancient Armors. The Rune Gods, by the loosest definition of mecha, also count.
* MythologyGag:
** During a route split, when the [=T3=] ends up transported to [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Cephiro]], [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico Saburota]] points out the possibility that they're TrappedInAnotherWorld kind of like in anime-ish stories, to which [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Judau]] reminds him that "This isn't anime, you know.", basically name-dropping his own series' first AnimeThemeSong, "Anime Ja Nai".
*** In a similar vein to this, during the final arc of ''Manga/MagicKnightRayearth'', when accepting Nova back and confronting Debonair, Hikaru thought and declared her resolve about "embracing light and darkness", also referring to the show's third AnimeThemeSong, "Hikari To Kage O Dakishimeta Mama", also available in-game with the Premium Anime Sound edition.
** Following in the steps of Armageddon's [[Manga/GetterRobo Shin Dragon]], Shin Getter Dragon's Shine Spark directly references the animation for [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsZ Super Robot Wars Z]] Getter Dragon's version of the same move, which in turn was Banpresto's faithful recreation of the move as seen in Getter Robo G's anime.
** When fighting against [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Master Asia]], [[Anime/GunXSword Nero]] might refer to him as [[spoiler:his real name from ''Fight 7th'' manga, Shuji Kurosu.]]
** Two of Domon's new quotes for the Hyper Mode activation during the God Finger and Sekiha Tenkyoken's attack animations directly quote the names of the theme songs famously used for the Shining and God Gundam's finishing move sequences in the anime.
** After being encouraged Beltorchika to fight and get out of his HeroicBSOD, Amuro utters the line back from the original ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam'' after he was [[GetAHoldOfYourselfMan slapped by Bright twice and then Frau Bow offered to take his place in piloting Gundam because he's 'someone who cannot take credits for his actions']]: "It's tough, but... I guess I AM a man after all."
** [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Show Zama's]] final attack in the Bellvine is a giant callback to the climax of Dunbine. From absorbing the multi-coloured auras of his allies, to quoting his own final words to Bern during the attack, to a cut-in of him striking with his own sword ([[spoiler:how he killed Bern after their Aura Machines were both destroyed]]) and story-wise in ''T'' he first uses it to purify an opponent's Aura to prevent them from going "Hyper".
** Zagato's invasion to Earth and succeeding in at least bringing Emeraude's castle into Antarctica may also give similar vibes to ''Anime/RayearthOVA'', where Cephiro was merged into Earth and is seen as an invasion force, [[spoiler:both of them also under the reasoning that their world was crumbling and they're looking for another world to settle. Although Zagato wasn't the perpretrator in the OVA, it was instead done by Eagle who was given an AdaptationalVillainy there.]] Another element harkening back to the OVA can be seen in the Expansion Pack, whereas Clef whisked away everyone from Cephiro into a pocket dimension so they're safe from Debonair who this time was backed up with Atrum; he did the same to the people of Earth in the OVA.
** Kamille getting a private message from [[spoiler:Char to help him build a new era for mankind is a nod to the original draft of ''Char's Counterattack'', where Kamille would be in the movie and a member of Char's Neo Zeon.]]
** When confronting the FinalBoss, [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Master Asia]] might quote one of [[NarmCharm his hilariously awesome]] famous BadassBoast that he is the Undefeated of the East, West, South, North, Center, '''SUPER ASIA'''.
** In the DLC ''Beautiful Criminals'', [[Anime/{{Gunbuster}} Jung Freud]] is pitted against [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Allenby Beardsley]] and the former dedicated her match to 'avenge' Argo Gullsky, because they're Russians[[note]]Soviet Union for Jung, but in this continuity, she would count as Russian after the dissolution of the Union[[/note]] and in the 13th Gundam Fight, Nobel Gundam debuted by [[TheWorfEffect defeating Bolt Gundam.]] As a result, unlike the other Gundam Fighters, Argo didn't cheer for Allenby, but [[PatrioticFervor his fellow friend from the same Mother Russia as well.]]
** One of the save-skits is [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Chum]] telling Show that she was the one who invented the Aura Slash. This is actually a meta-joke to ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWars'' itself as Aura Slash and Hyper Aura Slash never existed in the ''Aura Battler Dunbine'' anime. It was an attack created by the ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWars'' series. The idea for it though, came from an episode where Chum said ''"Hisatsu, Aura Giri!"'' as Show did a completely ordinary leaping-downward sword swing. Banpresto took this line and turned it into an actual attack.
** [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Jeril Kuchibi]] being made into Rabaan's subordinate is a nod to how his original right hand woman Bereena was an {{Expy}} of Jeril.
** If [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Umi]] dodges an attack, she'll say that the enemy fell to her [[IShallTauntYou taunt.]] This is actually a reference to how she played part in defeating the sole Golem in the original anime (in-game, the Golem is an ArtifactMook), taunting it for distraction while Hikaru pulls a white sheet over it and then smacks it to a pool of water, where it dissolves.
** The events of ''Anime/MazingerZInfinity'' is modified that Tetsuya is conscious and unable to do much as he's forced to pilot Mazinger Infinity since his Great Mazinger is grafted into Infinity and everyone else tries to pull him out. This made the scenario rather similar to what happened in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsV'', when Kouji got grafted into a rampaging [[Manga/ShinMazingerZERO Mazinger ZERO]] and was made to attack the Earth Fleet Tenku and everyone else tried to pull him out. Furthermore, the music playing during that scene was originally Mazinger ZERO's leitmotif in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsX''.
** When [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Glemy Toto]] made his declaration of independence and leadership of Neo Zeon, [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack Char Aznable]], who was watching the broadcast, made a response to Nanai Miguel that while Glemy certainly had strategy and charisma, he lacked something vital... "Because he's a SpoiledBrat". This is exactly the same reference he stated towards [[Anime/MobileSuitGundam Garma Zabi]] (whom Char tricked to die) during his funeral.
** Though some characters and events from ''Anime/CowboyBebop'' are AdaptedOut, its main characters' participation in certain events from other anime and original stories created close recreations.
*** Though Teddy Bomber doesn't show up, in spite of his fellow debuting character (Andy) in "[[Recap/CowboyBebopSession22CowboyFunk Cowboy Funk]]" appearing in a DLC, an OriginalGeneration named Schown D. Rell called Spike as the "No.1 Bounty Hunter You Don't Want to Get Captured By."
*** Ed beginning a correspondence with [[Anime/ExpelledFromParadise Frontier Setter]] on Freedom Route's Scenario 17's Side Plan epilogue is a reference to "[[Recap/CowboyBebopSession9JammingWithEdward Jamming with Edward]]," with their friendship resembling that of when she contacted MPU/Emphu, a similar {{Ridiculously Human|Robot}} [=AI=] that the government wants to get rid of because of its hacking into their facilities.
*** Spike expressed disgust at the clumps formed from Zonder Metal, DG Cells, and Invaders on Scenario 23. The amorphous mass depicting it resembles the BlobMonster from "[[Recap/CowboyBebopSession11ToysInTheAttic Toys in the Attic]]."
*** They used Ein to infiltrate into [[Anime/ExpelledFromParadise DEVA]], just as they did with [[Recap/CowboyBebopSession23BrainScratch SCRATCH]]. Both groups promote BrainUploading to their networks and have religious motifs.
*** In a [=DLC=], the Red Dragon under Vicious targeted [[Anime/TheBraveExpressMightGaine Hoi Kow Lou]], reformed former leader of the Asian Mafia, just like the two syndicate bosses in "[[Recap/CowboyBebopSession5BalladOfFallenAngels Ballad of Fallen Angels]]." Thankfully, he survived unlike the others.
** One of [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack Hi-Nu Gundam]]'s attacks ends in a karate chop. [[spoiler:In the manga version of ''Beltorchika's Children'', the Hi-Nu hits a karate chop onto the Nightingale's head, damaging it and exposing the cockpit capsule inside it.]]
** In the Expansion pack, when presented with the AlternateUniverse possibilities, Benkei remarks that maybe in one certain universe, the Ryouma there is a nice and friendly sports player, which describes Ryouma's incarnation in the LighterAndSofter ''Manga/GetterRobo'' 70's anime that has constantly appeared in the ''Super Robot Wars'' franchise up until the first ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsZ''
* {{Nerf}}:
** Averted in an interesting way. Unlike ''X's'' more direct attempts to nerf the TAC system, ''T'' doesn't meddle too much with the skill costs, and in fact takes out the Skill Tree requirement for unlocking pilot skills. The caveat is that many of the later secret stages now have a TAC Management Grade requirement, incuding the ending route split on the first playthrough which requires the maximum Grade of 6; achieving Grade 6 requires ''12,900'' [=TacP=], which is close to half a playthrough's worth of points that will be going to the Grade system instead of being spent overloading your pilots' skills and stats. Played straight however with certain parts like the [=ExC=] Bank that restores a unit's [=ExC=] gauge back to ''V's'' 5 compared to ''X's'' 10 or outright removing the [=ExC=] Laser[[note]]Whenever ExC is increased by 1 count, it is increased by 1 more count.[[/note]] part in previous games.
** Going from [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsV the previous]] [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsX games]] with [[Anime/ShinMazinger the more over the top Mazinger continuities]], the Mazingers in this game felt more down to Earth and [[RevisitingTheRoots going back to basics]], at least visually. This is subverted from a gameplay perspective where both Mazingers have powerful attacks and both have access to "Mazin Power"[[note]]Increases damage by 1.2x at 130 morale.[[/note]] rather than it being an ace bonus exclusive to Kouji (though it isn't available till halfway through the game).
* NewWorkRecycledGraphics: A large portion of the cast is culled from previous HD ''Super Robot Wars'' games, including ''X'', ''V'', and the ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsZ Third Z]]'' duology. To the game's credit, while there are only four "official" debuting series, there is a higher ratio of returning series making their HD debut than in ''T'''s immediate predecessors.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: The Metal Beasts from ''Getter Robo Armageddon'' are a rather horrifying result of doing this with Invaders, Zonder Metal, and DG Cells, all three of which are constantly evolving to try and eat the other two. More than one faction thinks they can control the results, although the Metal Beasts are always swiftly dispatched before anyone can find out if [[EvilIsNotAToy evil is a toy or not]].
* NoSell: Van's sense of revenge cannot be consumed by {{Emotion Eater}}s like the Zonder or Lady Debonair.
* NonIndicativeName: As opposed to the anime, [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth the Magic Knights]] can cast spells just fine in the so-called "Forest of Silence". The only presumable explanation on this was that with the silencing aura of the forest was disabled by the stronger aura from the people of [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Byston Well]], which was why Caldina and Ascot can also use summons there as well.
* NotSoDifferentRemark: When he was dragged to Upper Earth along with the others at T3, Show/Marvel/Tod and Shion notes that despite their differences, they're effectively in the same predicament; that despite being natives of Upper Earth, 700 years had gone by so not only had everyone they known had long since passed away, but technology and culture had advanced so much that their world is now effectively alien to them. It is because of this that convinces Shion to stick with the other three to survive in Upper Earth.
* OffWithHisHead: A dynamic kill with [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Fuu's Emerald Cyclone]] will leave the enemy's head (upper half of the body, if they're lucky) ripped away from the body. [[BewareTheNiceOnes Yikes.]]
* OlderAndWiser:
** With ''Mazinger Z: Infinity'' together with ''Getter Robo Armageddon'' and ''Char's Counterattack'', this marks the first time Koji, [[Manga/GetterRobo Ryoma Nagare]] and Amuro, the stalwarts of the franchise since its inception, are depicted as the seniors for the younger generation. Two DLC scenarios even banks on their relationships in this.
** Domon has developed into a well-adjusted, mature adult after the 13th Gundam Fight and guides the vengeance-seeking members of the team because he's been there. For a while though, teasing him with his issue with Rain shows that he still can't properly deal with romantic issues.
** [[Anime/MobileSuitZetaGundam Kamille]] is there to guide Judau through the pain of losing loved ones after having gone through it himself.
** During the Earth route at Scenarios 35-36, we get to see [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Boss]] who's now more down-to-Earth and mature as opposed to his younger comedy relief bully self. The crowning moment of this trope is after Scenario 36, where Boss' support made the T3 offer him membership. [[HumbleHero Boss politely refused]], stating that [[RetiredBadass his battlefield is now running the Boss Ramen.]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: One scene involves [[Anime/ExpelledFromParadise Angela]] correcting about her body looks, that despite her teen body, she's mentally in her twenties... towards [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Hikaru]], who looks like a preteen but actually 14 years old.
* OldFriend: Koji, Ryoma, and Amuro first met and fought alongside each other during the One Year War (which coincided with the battle against Dr. Hell) over a decade ago, and upon reuniting years later, are quick to bring up past memories, such as how Koji and Ryoma had to search for Amuro in the desert after the latter ran away.
** Tetsuya is friends with several people; including the [[Anime/GunXSword Eldora Team]] and [[Anime/GunBuster Coach Oota]].
* OldMaster: The [[Anime/GunXSword Eldora Team]] are revealed to have been this for much of the super robot side of the cast, their reputation as the local heroes of Mars having apparently garnered much interest in their services. They're also old acquaintances with fellow OldMaster, [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Master Asia]].
* OneSteveLimit: Averted. There are two Hikarus in this game: [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico Amano]] and [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Shidou]].
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Unsurpisingly, [[Anime/CowboyBebop the cowboys]] exemplify this trope to the letter, only joining with the T3 on a contracted basis that they get a fee for a every ship brought down and if there's no money to be made, they'll jump ship to Captain Harlock's crew for having somewhat similiar mindsets. Sagiri is a downplayed example seeing how she considers herself a textbook office worker, with paychecks and bonuses being her "lifeblood."
* OrderVersusChaos: This is the theme of two early-to-mid game route splits, with the more Chaotic heroes traveling with the [[Manga/CaptainHarlock Arcadia]] instead of sticking around the Lawful types headed by the [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack Ra Cailum]] and [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico Nadesico]]. Meryl and Amies hang a Lampshade on how odd it is for Special Section 3 to join the Arcadia if the player chooses that route.
* OriginalGeneration:
** The protagonists of this game are members of the VTX Union - Saizou Tokitou, Sagiri Sakurai and Rami Amasaki. Players can choose between Saizou or Sagiri to be the primary protagonist, who will serve as the Manager of Special Section 3 and pilot of the Tyranado; the one not picked will be the ace of Special Section 1 and pilot of the Gespenst, who ends up working alongside the protagonist. Rami, meanwhile, is a support member for Special Section 3, serving as the Tyranado's sub-pilot.
** [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Lantis' Rune God]] is stated by the Encyclopedia as something exclusively created for the game, since originally Zagato never had a spare Rune God for his brother to use and Lantis always fights on foot (or sometimes riding a HellishHorse).
* PaletteSwap: ''V'' introduced the Mass Production Gundam F91 as a way to have the F91 without having to include [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamF91 the entire series]]. ''X'', which features ''Mobile Suit Gundam F91'' proper, lightly modified the MP F91 sprites to create the original F91 and came up with new animations. ''T'', which again features ''Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam'' but not ''Mobile Suit Gundam F91'', applies the MP F91's sprites from ''V'' to the original F91's animations from ''X''.
* PostScriptSeason: The plots of the original ''Dunbine'' series, the ''Votoms'' TV series, ''Zeta Gundam'', the original ''Crossbone Gundam'' manga, ''G Gundam'', and ''Might Gaine'' have all been concluded before the game's start, but they still have some new original plots to follow through.
* PraetorianGuard: When Show receives the Bellvine, the ''Aura Battler Dunbine'' cast debates about its status as a royal guard Aura Battler. The Bellvine was called the Holy Maiden's Treasure, and as it was built by Queen Ciela Lapana, it would belong to the Land of Na, whose personal color scheme of the royal guard is white, the ''Whiteguard of Na''. Chum insists that the Bellvine isn't white because it was made just for Show, and has the same camo color scheme from Billbine's final sortie.
* PretenderDiss: Since [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity the Ichinana]] is a mass-produced Mazinger unit, locked in two attacks and couldn't use a combo Thunder Break with Great Mazinger like in the movie, Shiro is not exactly a stellar unit, though it doesn't stop him to be confident anyway, which led to this line when he faced Count Brocken:
-->'''Count Brocken''': ''Even the pilot is a poor man's Kouji Kabuto! I think we know how this will turn out.''
** Earlier on, when Todd encountered the Sirbine and Shion at helm, he referred it as 'a second-rate Dunbine'.
* PromotedToPlayable: Inverted for [[spoiler:[[Anime/GunXSword Michael Garret and Fasalina]]. As opposed to ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsK'' where they could be recruited after fulfilling several requirements, there is no way to recruit them. They either die in the normal route courtesy of [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Dr. Hell]] or being SparedByAdaptation in the IF route, but not joining you for the last legs of the game. Likewise for [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Glemmy Toto]], who got a more positive portrayal and being unlockable in [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsX the last game]], and [[Anime/MobileSuitZetaGundam Yazan Gable]] and [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Rakan Dahrakan]], both were at least playable in DLC scenarios in [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsX the last game]] but not this game, while the former was also a secret character in [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsV the game before the last one.]]]]
* {{Pun}}: The official website's address is "'''S'''o'''R'''e'''W'''a'''Terada'''[[note]]"Sore wa TERRA da" = "That/It is TERRA" and the series producer is named Takenobu Terada[[/note]].suparobo.jp".
* PunnyName:
** Spike and Faye's debut was about them chasing a bounty from a dude named... Schown D. Rell [[note]][[DontExplainTheJoke Scoundrel. Get it?]][[/note]]
** The game finally addresses the PunnyName of [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Mashin/Rune God]] with [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Mazin]], with several Cephirans sometimes addressing the Mazingers as Mashin/Rune God [[spoiler:with good reason, as revealed later:They used to fight against Mycenae civilization that invaded them and then copied the basics of the Rune Gods to create their own Mazins, with Infinity being their biggest one.]]
* RedBaron:
** PlayedWith: Pretty much everyone in VTX Union have a nickname, but they're always insults, much to the owners chagrin.
** For winning the 13th Gundam Fight, Domon and the God Gundam got themselves the title "Gundam of Gundams"
** The Rune-Gods were usually called either by 'Rune God', or their names. In this game, even in the menu screens, their specific titles are always listed next to their names. Therefore, you would see: "Flame God Rayearth", "Sea God Selece" and "Sky God Windam".
* RedHerring: [[spoiler:For much of the story, the players are led to believe that the reason why Rudi and The Company she works for are so interested in recruiting Saizo/Sagiri is for the Quark Drive powering Tyranado. While the Quark Drive is a powerful power source, the UND's Antiproton Cycle is much more cost effective. What they're really after is humanity themselves due to their natural affinity using mecha, to use the entire race as galactic mercenaries.]]
* RedemptionRejection: After hearing all of [[Anime/GunXSword the Claw]]'s plans from Fasalina and her admitting that if she met Manga/CaptainHarlock before, her fate would have turned out differently, Harlock himself offered her a chance to defect from the Claw and fight for him, as long as one was strong at heart and dedicated themselves for freedom, he's OK with it. Fasalina actually was flattered with the offer, but rejected it because she admitted herself as weak woman without the strength that Harlock sought.
* RefusedTheCall:
** For a long time, Shion refuses to become a Battler, a word originally used to describe Aura Battlers pilots and would later be used to describe those who would fight for the sake of the world because he will only fight for himself and Remul. It wasn't until Queen Ciela Lapana entrusted Show with the Bellvine along Shion feeling the Aura Road that he finally understood that life and the world is the same, that to fight for survival is the same as fighting for the sake of the world. Shion's aura then radiates with his new-found resolve.
--->'''Show:''' Queen Ciela Lapana... Right now, a new Battler has been born.
** Following the Gryps War, Char was killed and Amuro debated whether or not to take up his cause of uniting humanity and purging the Federation of its corruption, but ultimately could not do it and despite numerous attempts at pursuading him, decided to live his life in seclusion.
* {{Reincarnation}}: [[spoiler:Like the OVA, Shion, Rabaan and Remul are all the reincarnations of Show, Bern and Riml.]]
* {{Revenge}}: One of the main themes of ''T'', as many protagonists from the included series have an explicit desire for vengeance.
** [[Anime/GunXSword Van]] prioritizes against The Claw for killing his soon-to-be-wife [[RevengeBeforeReason over anything else]]; likewise, Van's rival Ray Lundgren, who's [[NominalHero in an even worse scale of the hunt]].
** [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico Akito Tenkawa]], after being tortured and turned into an EmptyShell pre-''Prince of Darkness'', and having his wife Yurika Misumaru put into stasis all by the Martian Successors, is looking for payback against them.
** [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Domon]] wanted vengeance against his brother Kyoji Kasshu for allegedly ruining his family while taking on the Devil Gundam with him. Due to ''G Gundam'''s being given a PostScriptSeason, Domon has already gone through that phase, allowing him to be more mature and reasonable, and he now seeks to help Van through his phase.
** There are also those who were in a perfect position to demand blood for blood, yet [[AvertedTrope refused to]]: [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Lantis]], whose brother Zagato was killed by the Magic Knights, refused to take vengeance, but instead shift the blame to [[InherentInTheSystem the core problems of the Pillar System]].
** [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Judau]] temporarily entered this phase when he debuted, being pissed off at Neo Zeon for allegedly killing Ple and his sister Leina. He got better very early after an encounter with [[Anime/GaoGaiGar Arm Primeval]] and turns out that if he continued, [[spoiler:it could've been for nothing: Ple actually lived and [[SecretCharacter can be recruited if the conditions are fulfilled]], and [[HesJustHiding Leina is just hiding with the help of Londo Bell crews]], coming out of the hiding spot in the ending.]]
* RevisitingTheRoots:
** Most of the series entries originate from before The2000s, thereby giving the game more focus to earlier HumongousMecha and SpaceOpera titles.
** Between the games released during the International Era, series producer Takenobu Terada stated the story in ''T'' involves only one Earth setting instead of having [[AlternateUniverse multiple Earths]], something the ''Z'' saga popularized for the franchise, including ''V'' and ''X''; this change is akin to older ''Super Robot Wars'' titles that didn't have a focus on {{Dimensional Travel|er}}ling.
** Similar to the previous point, older Universal Century ''Franchise/{{Gundam}}'' series took a back-seat in this era (and the ''Z'' saga) to give newer ''Gundam'' properties like ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamUnicorn'' and ''Anime/GundamReconguistaInG'' the limelight. ''T'' has the classic ''Gundam'' trilogy of ''Zeta'', ''Gundam ZZ'' and ''Char's Counterattack'' take center stage for the Universal Century-driven plot, the latter half of ''ZZ Gundam'' in particular getting much of the limelight. [[note]]For perspective, ''T'' is the second traditional ''Super Robot Wars'' installment since the debut of ''Gundam SEED'' in this franchise to exclusively use 20th-century ''Gundam'' titles, the first being ''NEO'', where the God Gundam was the only ''Gundam'' unit in the game, included solely to keep the franchise's tradition of having at least one ''Gundam'' series.[[/note]]
*** In addition, [[spoiler:[[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Elpeo Ple]] has to be unlocked instead of being given to the player automatically, something that [=SRW=] has not forced the player to do in a very long time.]]
** The Gespenst returns in a licensed-''Super Robot Wars'' title: not only is it a "classic" unit, but was known for showing up in multiple continuities until ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration'' was established.
** The switch to the original ''Mazinger Z'' {{Continuity}} via distant {{Sequel}} ''Infinity'', after multiple ''Super Robot Wars'' installments of using the ''Shin Mazinger'' plot. Just like the [=SRW=] games that use the '70s ''Mazinger'' series, the Mazinger pilots can be swapped around at will.
** Despite the ''Manga/GetterRobo'' cast being modeled after the ''Armageddon'' OVA, elements of the classic '70s ''Getter Robo'' anime, one of the main staples of older SRW titles, are implemented within the plot. In particular, Musashi Tomoe is around for half of the game and his role was either being [[TheHeart the glue that links the team together]] or 'the underappreciated pilot between the trio', and [[spoiler:his death was similar to his original death in the '70s anime, a HeroicSacrifice that got the rest of the heroes mourning, though refitted to be in context with the ''Armageddon'' plot.]]
** The villains of this game, the UND, harkens back to the style of the [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWars3 Inspectors]]/[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWars4 Guests]] in the Classic timeline: Humanoid aliens whose advantage was cutting edge technology, as opposed to otherwordly and terrifying EldritchAbomination as seen in installments such as ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsAlpha'' series, ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsZ'' series, or ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsX''. The FinalBoss, [[spoiler:Dyma Goldwin]], also follows suit with this, [[spoiler:a mere human with a hi-tech advanced mecha]].
* RoyalRapier: No less than two of the available pilots are being high class fencers that uses rapiers in their attacks: [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam George de Sand]] and [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Umi Ryuuzaki]]. And on the villains' side, there's also [[Anime/GunXSword William Will Woo]]. On the unplayable side, George made his debut by challenging Manga/QueenEmeraldas, who has a rapier... [[SwissArmyWeapon which can double as a rifle]].
* {{Salaryman}}: Saizou is a wild example, working under the same VTX Union division as Sagiri, who also claims herself to be this, but is closer to its {{Distaff|Counterpart}} [[OfficeLady Counterpart]]. Also {{Invoked}} with the Tyranado - the unit is designed to look like it has a neck tie on its chest.
* SecretCharacter: Most of the secrets involve having the characters join earlier than usual, such as [[spoiler:Master Asia]]. Additionally, most of the secrets are majorly UC Gundam characters, with some exceptions like [[spoiler:Black Might Gaine, which took cues from how it was like in ''V'', if you do not reach the secret level involving him, he's PermanentlyMissableContent]].
* ShadowArchetype: [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Allen Brady]] ends up being one for [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Tod Guiness]] since the former relished in his battle lust and never tried to do better in the second life given to him, while the latter realized the futility of constantly fighting and tried to be a better man in his second life. When Allen finally bit the dust, Tod noted that if he misstepped even once, he would've ended up like Allen.
* ShoutOut:
** One attack by the [[Anime/ExpelledFromParadise Arhan]] involves calling a railgun, then striking the [[SignatureStyle oft-referenced]] "[[SwordPointing Brave Perspective]]" used frequently by Creator/MasamiObari.
** There's also a ShoutOut to [[Website/TVTropes this very wiki]]: During the confrontation against [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Dr. Hell]], Watta declared that he'll never lose to a CardCarryingVillain like him. Yes, he literally said the trope name word-by-word.
* SidelinedProtagonistCrossover: Downplayed with ''Anime/CowboyBebop'''s debut in this installment. The protagonist Spike Spiegel and his [[CoolPlane Swordfish II]] appear as a playable unit, but the titular ship isn't and was PutOnABus for majority of the game as it needed repairs, leaving its crew to hang around ships from other series.
* SneezeCut: The BeachEpisode DLC starts with ''Anime/GunXSword'' one-shot character Kaiji, the sailor that loves ocean, admiring the greatness of oceans. In Japan, ocean is written as 'Umi'. Then we cut to Ra Cailum, where [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Umi]] promptly snooze.
* SomeoneElsesProblem: Both [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Shion]] and [[Anime/ExpelledFromParadise Angela]] expresses this attitude upon being transported from Byston Well/The Astragius Galaxy, not wanting to get involved with Earth's problems. [[Anime/MagicKnightRayearth Umi]] calls Angela out on it, but can't exactly say that she's wrong. Subverted with [[Anime/ArmoredTrooperVOTOMS Chirico]], who decided to help out on the condition that T3 help him find a long term cure for Fyana.
* SparedByAdaptation:
** Since the early events of ''Manga/MagicKnightRayearth'' got compressed, Ascot and Caldina pulled a HeelFaceTurn before the Magic Knights reached Presea, therefore Presea did not die [[spoiler:and get replaced with her BackupTwin]] like in the anime. Eagle also lives on [[spoiler:after the fight against Debonair, contrast the anime where he dies.[[note]]Even moreso, the game enforces this. Eagle (in FTO) is a mandatory unit in the whole mission and him getting shot down triggers a game over.[[/note]] This, interestingly, makes it closer to the original manga, minus TheReveal about Mokona.]]
** While the game uses the TV series version of ''Anime/MobileSuitZetaGundam'', certain elements of ''A New Translation'' was used. Therefore, when the game treated ''Zeta'' as a PostScriptSeason, Kamille appears healthy and sane instead of brain-fried thanks to the last battle of ''Zeta'' (though ''SRW'' has AdaptedOut the brain-frying several times even before the release of those {{Compilation Movie}}s).
** Unlike in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsK'', [[Anime/GunXSword Ray Lundgren]]'s survival is practically guaranteed this time.
** In the IF route, [[spoiler:[[Anime/GaoGaiGar Mikoto]] took Leo's place in revealing the weakness of Z Master and then getting shot down, causing her to transform into Zonuda in the same map. But because of this, Leo survived the events, and unlike in ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWars W]]'', where he ended up dying in the events of FINAL, the story ends shortly after, so he'll continue on living.]]
** Here's a big one in the Expansion Pack: [[spoiler:That BolivianArmyEnding entry that refer to ''Anime/CowboyBebop'''s very ambiguous ending? Spike survived that. [[AscendedMeme SPIKE LIVES!]]]]
* SpellMyNameWithAnS
** For ages, the generally accepted spelling among fans for ''トライダーG7'' was "Trider G7", but the debut trailer in English uses "Tryder G7" instead, implying this spelling was approved by Creator/{{Sunrise}}[[note]]The show did see a release in Italy, where the robot's name was spelled "Trider", leading to the tentatively accepted name, since they also called Mazinger Z as "Mazinga Z"[[/note]].
** The "[[AMechByAnyOtherName Rune-God]]" used by [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Umi Ryuuzaki]] has been called "Seles", "Celes" and "Ceres" throughout the years, with some recent printings and publications using "Selece". The game ultimately uses the more recent "Selece".
** With ''Dunbine'', alongside ''New Story of Aura Battle Dunbine'', the translation team had the [[SarcasmMode "fun"]] task of picking names for the cast when almost every character has 3-4 English variations to their names. Perhaps this time Bandai Namco won't [[InconsistentDub change them]] through game updates as they did in ''X''.
** In the English version of the second trailer, Jung's name is spelled the way it sounds as "Yung," which ruins the references to RealLife psychologists UsefulNotes/CarlJung and UsefulNotes/SigmundFreud. Thankfully, this is fixed in the final product, she's back to Jung.
** [[Anime/GaoGaiGar Leo Shishioh]] is rendered as '[[JapaneseRanguage Reo Shishioh]]'.
** Reading through the Character Encyclopedia might make you raise an eyebrow when they rendered ''Manga/CaptainHarlock''[='=]s [[Creator/MakioInoue voice actor]] as 'Maquio Inoue', which is also the spelling used by ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsIII''[='=]s Japanese version ending credits earlier in 2019. To be fair, the voice actor himself use that name as his StageName in [[https://twitter.com/InoueMaquio his Twitter account]] as well.
** Zig-zagged with a particular attack of [[Anime/GetterRobo Shin Getter 1.]] On the attack select, it's written as 'Getter Laser'. But when the attack is actually executed, it's written as 'Getter Razor' and looks more accurate since it involves Shin Getter 1 elongating the razor spikes on its hand to slash the enemy than firing another laser than the signature Getter Beam.
** There's also a case of the original mecha "E-Phas" vs "Eephas", the former being what it is called on the map and the latter being what Rudi calls it in her attacks.
* SubordinateExcuse: [[Manga/CaptainHarlock Kei Yuuki]] knows that Harlcok will most likely never get over his [[TheLostLenore lost love]]; however, that doesn't matter to her. So long as she can be near him, even if it's as a crewmate, she feels that her love is still requited. The girls of the VTX union are somewhat jealous of her for having such a resolve.
* SuperDeformed:
** The cast of ''Manga/MagicKnightRayearth'' and ''Anime/{{Gunbuster}}'' are capable of going this mode in free times like the save-skit gag, owing to ''Rayearth''[='=]s tendency to slip into this mode at times due to being penned by Creator/{{CLAMP}}, and ''Gunbuster''[='=]s post-episode skits involving Noriko learning science. And then there's a DLC mission involving both series somehow getting cursed to be stuck in that state, which provides a {{Deconstruction}} of the trope: When a golem attacked, both Noriko and Hikaru found themselves unable to control their mechas properly due to their new body size and thus in actual danger; SuperDeformed looked adorable and cute when the setting complied with the tone, otherwise it could be debilitating, deadly state.
** One of the save-skits harkens back to the ''Anime/GunXSword'' omake extras, ''Anime/GunXSword[=-=]san'', featuring both Van and Wendy in this state, if a bit more blocky.
** During her confinement by the DEVA System, [[Anime/ExpelledFromParadise Angela]] gets turned into a blocky person thing, but it seemed to be styled to be a SuperDeformed style, since Angela has a '>_<' face.
* SupportPartyMember: ''T'' introduces the "Supporter Command System", where characters who are neither pilots nor co-pilots like [[Anime/GaoGaiGar Mikoto Utsugi]], [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Rain Mikamura]], [[Anime/GunXSword Wendy Garret]], [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Mokona]], [[Anime/CowboyBebop Ed]], and [[Anime/ArmoredTrooperVotoms Chirico Cuvie's entourage]], can activate passive effects that grant bonuses towards all allied units for one turn.
* TakeAThirdOption: One late-game route split has the team choosing whether to ally themselves with [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Haman's Neo Zeon]] or [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack Char's Neo Zeon]]. They can also choose to side with neither.
* TheTeamBenefactor: Like in ''V'', and ''X'', [[Anime/TheBraveExpressMightGaine Might Senpuuji]]'s CEO skill provides the team with extra [=TacP=] just for deploying him, a perk that he now shares with fellow CEO Watta, who had the skill first. Acing him causes Might to also take over Banjo's old role of providing a cash bonus at the end of any stage where he's deployed, by virtue of being just that rich, while Watta instead doubles the amount of [=TacP=] he provides the team. In the story, VTX President Dyme Goldwin is this to the team as well, with their financial backing provided primarily by him.
* TitleDrop: [[spoiler:At the end of the Expansion Pack, [=T3=] decides to convert Dyme Goldwin's Mobile Fortress VTX into a frontline base for the Second Deep Space ''Expansion'' Project.]]
* ThanatosGambit: [[spoiler:Just like in the OVA, the Northern Sage is seeking to end his punishment of immortality through any means possible. To that end, he collaborates with Lady Debonair and manipulates several characters into place. His absorption into Debonair and subsequent destruction along with her implies he finally got his wish.]]
* TrappedInAnotherWorld: During the second route split, this can end up being played straight or downplayed, when Rudi uses the Company weapon to send off the T3 somewhere:
** In the Independent Forces route, this is downplayed. Rudi's attack succeeded and the T3 along with the Arcadia is stranded in the [[Anime/ArmoredTrooperVotoms Astragius Galaxy]] with [[Anime/ExpelledFromParadise the Cyberspace]] eyeing on it. It's not exactly another world, but they are still trapped in a different solar system that has no Earths in it.
** In the Security Forces route, this is played straight. Rudi's attack failed because the T3 ended up also hearing [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Princess Emeraude]]'s distress call to the Magic Knights, [[SpannerInTheWorks so the T3 ends up being thrown to Cephiro along with the Magic Knights.]]
* TokenGoodTeammate: [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine The Black Knight and the Northern Sage]] [[spoiler:[[BackFromTheDead revived some dead Aura Battlers]] and had those who used to serve under Drake Luft to collaborate with [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Zagato]]. Yet, [[AntiVillain Todd Guiness]] clearly had reservations in unnecessary killings, as opposed to Allen Brady and Jeryl Kuchibi, who reveled in the chance to kill more people in their second life. As a result, [[HeelFaceTurn he ended up defecting to the T3]] the next time he appeared, and unlike [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsX his last outing]], he's no longer a SecretCharacter.]]
* TokyoTower: Visited by T3, with its location being in [[Anime/TheBraveExpressMightGaine Nouvelle Tokyo]], although the name didn't change into 'Nouvelle Tokyo Tower'. [[Anime/GaoGaiGar Guy]] also mentioned that [[ContinuityNod the Tower was once used by EI-01 as a hidden base during his past exploits.]] As expected, visiting the Tower initiates the ''Manga/MagicKnightRayearth'' plot, though the situation is more somber since a ColonyDrop just got initiated and prevented, but otherwise ruined the surrounding environment, making it unfitting for [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Hikaru]] to gush over looking at that via telescope. But at least she gets to meet [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Kouji]] in exchange and [[TheKnightsWhoSaySquee making her visit worth it.]][[labelnote:*]][[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Domon]] was not in the group there, so he didn't get to mention that one time he had to wreck the whole Tower to root out his BrainwashedAndCrazy friends by the Devil Gundam.[[/labelnote]]
* TookALevelInBadass: This is the only continuity where [[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam Allenby]] is capable of executing God Finger solo. Beforehand, she would need to tag team with Domon for it.
* TrailersAlwaysLie: [[spoiler:The second promotion video, as well as one of the final stream before the official release, featured Shion as the pilot of the Bellvine. The game itself, however, has Show as the default pilot, and he's the only one who can utilize its Hyper Aura Slash.]]
* UnderestimatingBadassery: As the [[Anime/MagicKnightRayearth Magic Knights]] explore the Forest of Silence alongside [[Anime/GreatMazinger Tetsuya]] and [[Anime/GaoGaiGar Guy]], they were ambushed by Caldina and Ascot, who promptly spawn golems to attack them. The two quickly dismisses Tetsuya and Guy, believing that normal people from another world that are not magic knights won't be able to harm the golems, but were shocked that the two had swiftly destroyed all the golems off-screen. Justified as one had been raised since he was a child to be a soldier and pilot of a SuperRobot, and the other is a combat cyborg with superhuman abilities.
* UselessUsefulSpell: Some of the Supporter commands are less than helpful, or are outclassed by other commands. [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Mokona]] is a particularly notable example for most of the game, providing 1 [=ExC=] for a single unit for the same cost as [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Lisa]], who provides ''3'' [=ExC=] as well as a one-turn damage buff. It's not until the last five stages that Mokona upgrades into providing his smaller boost to ''all'' allies, giving him a proper niche.
* VillainDecay: [[Anime/TheBraveExpressMightGaine Black Noir]] [[spoiler:went from one of the endgame bosses in ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsV V]]'' and ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsX X]]'' into a mere mid boss in this game, and it went down much easier, and narrative-wise, it wasn't manipulating anyone at all]]. Justified due to ''Anime/TheBraveExpressMightGaine'' being given PostScriptSeason treatment so it wasn't at its prime. It can also count as a series-wise DegradedBoss.
* VillainTeamUp:
** An alliance has been formed between [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Neo-Zeon]], [[Manga/MobileSuitCrossboneGundam the Jupiter Empire]], and [[Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico the Martian Successors]].
** [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Drake’s Army and the Black Knight]] have joined up with [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Zagato]].
** [[spoiler:[[Anime/ExpelledFromParadise DEVA]] is a pawn of [[Anime/ArmoredTrooperVotoms Wiseman]]]].
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: In the IF route, [[spoiler:the fate of [[Anime/GunXSword Michael Garret and Fasalina]] is even more ambiguous than canon. Unlike in Normal Route, [[Anime/MazingerZInfinity Dr. Hell]] didn't sweep in and [[DroppedABridgeOnHim open fire to the area, implying their deaths]], since the final battle with The Claw takes place in Axis. Fasalina managed to appear one last time not to fight, but to give exposition on the state of Devil Gundam without any further malice to the team. But afterwards, the Axis got pushed away and we don't hear what happened to them again, whether there was a falling debris that killed them during the chaos or they survived and made a good word to surrender and not bothering the T3 again were not clarified.]]
* WildCard: Whenever Master Asia shows up, it's either to pick a fight with Domon or to [[EnemyMine help him fight another force that threatens Earth.]] Sometimes at the same time.
* WillfullyWeak: Great Mazinger spends the first dozen stages with its Photon Reactor and weaponry restricted, since Tetsuya's retirement from the military made Great too powerful for a civilian machine until the resurfaced Kikaiju prompt him to take the gloves off.
