!!Tropes shown in this game:
* AdaptationalBadass: Most of the characters are this.
** Susan is much more proactive in the game than she ever was in the movie. In the movie, she did very little while trapped in the hidden base, ran from the alien probe before fighting it when she had no other options and didn't TakeALevelInBadass until she had to fight it. In the game, she actively arranges an escape from the base (and is only stopped at the last possible minute) and goes out of her way to fight not only the alien robot but another, much larger scorpion robot as well. All while demonstrating some pretty flashy karate moves too!
** The Missing Link kicks butt all throughout the game, whereas in the film he got knocked around until the climax. Notably, he plays a major part in defeating the alien probe, while in the movie he was knocked out early on and contributed nothing to the fight.
** Even B.O.B. gets in on the fun. In the original movie, almost everything he eats gets digested in seconds. Here, he can carry objects in his literal StomachOfHolding, help him hold still over grates, and fire them at will, allowing for more tactical usage for his blobby nature.
** While it was no slouch in the movie, the Robot Probe is more active when chasing Ginormica, firing lasers at her, making mile-wide leaps to try to get to her and is tailed and defended by hundreds of smaller robot probes that attack her and the rest of team monster.
** Gallaxhar's own military gets much more variety. In the original movie, it's either a mere MesACrowd {{Mooks}} situation or an army of miner robots that can go toe-to-toe with the military. Here, Gallaxhar has a lot more up his arsenal, with smaller, more specialized droids designed for offense while invading enemy regions as well as defensive ones meant to protect the stronger ones from parasites such as Missing Link and B.O.B.
** Gallaxhar himself puts up ''way'' more of a fight in the FinalBattle after the ship is set to self destruct. While movie Gallaxhar was easily defeated by a depowered Susan after a short confrontation, game Gallaxhar pilots a giant mecha to fight a fully-powered Ginormica head-on and refuses to give up even after a long, grueling battle.
* AdaptationalIntelligence: In the movie, B.O.B. was a brainless nuisance who almost never contributed to the group's plans, but occasionally had rare flashes of brilliance. Here, he can solve complicated physics puzzles with minimal guidance from Dr. Cockroach.
* AdaptationalPersonalityChange: Gallaxhar's computer goes from sounding like a seductive date in the movie, to sounding like his catty teenage daughter.
* AdaptationalWimp: Though he's quite physically capable in the film, on top of cobbling together hi-tech gadgetry on the fly, Dr. Cockroach sits out the action as the game's MissionControl.
* AdaptationExpansion: The game features two additional story arcs that weren't in the movie: one involving the monsters trying to escape from the containment facility a day before they get released to fight the alien probe, and another involving them fighting a giant scorpion robot before Susan gets abducted by Gallaxhar.
* AdaptedOut: Derek is completely absent from the game's storyline. Although it is mentioned she was mutated on her wedding day, Susan never mentions him at any point and the scene where she sadly sits on a gas station roof instead has her sulking about having to fight another alien robot.
* BehemothBattle: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]] whenever Ginormica fights an enemy her size or larger.
* BodyOfBodies: The Drone Golem, a large drone made out of other drones joining themselves together.
* CanonForeigner:
** Veronica Shapely, one of the reporters originated from this game.
** The U.S. Avenger also originated from the game.
** The Scorpion Robot which attacks the monsters in place of Gallaxhar's ship in Chapter 3.
* ColossusClimb: Much of the Missing Link’s levels are climbs up the large robots encountered through the game.
* CoOpMultiplayer: The game can be played cooperatively with up to two players, with the second player playing as Dr. Cockroach's multiplayer robot.
* CreativeClosingCredits: The player shoots an endless wave of flying robots as Dr. Cockroach while the monsters cheer them on.
* DiesDifferentlyInAdaptation:
** The alien robot dies not by having its head cut off by the Golden Gate Bridge as in the movie, but rather by having B.O.B. blow up its CranialProcessingUnit, causing its head to explode.
** Insectosaurus still suffers a DisneyDeath, but in this case, it's due to being whacked on the head by the scorpion robot instead of being hit with an energy blast from Gallaxhar's ship.
* FinalBoss: All 3 playable characters face one of these during the end of Chapter 4.
** For Link, it's a DualBoss rematch with both the Large Drone and the Drone Golem.
** For B.O.B, it's the ship's core as it is a LoadBearingBoss and triggers the self-destruct sequence after it's destroyed.
** For Susan, it's Gallaxhar himself after he releases his FlyingSaucer after her.
* GrindBoots: Ginormica wears them to grind on rails.
* HumongousMecha:
** Both of the alien robots and the U.S. Avenger.
** Ginormica faces numerous ones closer to her size as regular enemies.
* ImADoctorNotAPlaceholder: Dr. Cockroach says "I'm a scientist, not a roller derby enthusiast!"
* InCharacterCommentaries: They can be unlocked in the [=DNA=] mapping, but some are from the development team as well.
* InsistentTerminology: For some reason, Link is always referred to as ''The Missing Link,'' never just ''Link.''
* {{Irony}}: B.O.B., the [[TheDitz stupidest of the playable monsters]], is the one with gameplay based around solving puzzles.
* MarathonLevel: "More Aliens", the final level for the Missing Link. Not only does it have multiple long segments, but it also has a rematch with both the Large Drone and the Drone Golem and another segment after that!
* MissionControl: Dr. Cockroach assists Ginormica, the Missing Link and B.O.B. via a communicator.
* NonActionGuy: Dr. Cockroach becomes this.
* PressXToNotDie: There are {{Quick Time Event}}s to open doors and dodge attacks as Ginormica. As always, failing them usually results in instant death.
* RevoltingRescue: Susan/Ginormica falls off a rocket. Insectosaurus notices this and [[GiantsDropletHumansShower shoots out a very long snot rocket]] for Ginormica to grab onto like a rope.
* ScoreMultiplier: There are [=DNA=] multipliers found throughout the game.
* ShaggyDogStory: Twofold with the monsters' attempted escape from the military base. Not only do they get caught [[HopeSpot right at the exit]], but they end up being released a day later to fight the alien probe anyway.
* StarterVillain: The U.S. Avenger is the first antagonist the monsters face. It is a large treaded robot that General Monger created to help keep them contained.
* TailSlap: One of Link's attacks is a swipe with his tail. It knocks all enemies around him away and deflects projectiles back at their sender, making it a great crowd-control option if Link is overwhelmed.
* TinfoilHat: In the opening cutscene, Cuthbert wears a tinfoil hat to prevent aliens from spotting him.
* UnlimitedWardrobe: Ginormica wears a different outfit in each chapter:
** Chapter 1: the grey-and-orange monster uniform she wears for most of the movie;
** Chapter 2: a red-and-orange version of her monster uniform seen in advertising but not in the movie itself;
** Chapter 3: a completely original outfit consisting of a green shirt and blue jeans;
** Chapter 4: the SensualSpandex she wears upon being abducted by Gallaxhar for the last third of the movie.
