''[[http://www.godlimations.com/monsterbasement.php Monster Basement]]'' is a PointAndClick Flash game created found on Creator/{{Godlimations}}. A sequel, ''[[http://www.godlimations.com/monsterbasement2.php Monster Basement 2]]'', details your character trying to escape the actual house the basement was attached to and expands on the previously-hinted information about the house's residents.

!!''Monster Basement'' has examples of:
* AdventureGame: Not as contrived as ''VideoGame/TheTrappedTrilogy'', but it has its [[GuideDangIt moments]].
* BigBad: The first game has the monster[[spoiler:/infected human]] who kidnapped you. In the second, the Butcher and the Brother serve as your primary obstacles to escape.
* BittersweetEnding: The second game has this for [[spoiler:the Daughter. She's cured of her condition, but her mom ran away and she's still stuck with her butcher father so there's a chance she might contract the infection again. Also both her brother and uncle are dead.]]
* CallBack: At the end of the second game, the Protagonist gives the Daughter [[spoiler: what's left of the healing potion he used to revive his friend, curing her]].
* ChildrenAreInnocent: [[spoiler:The Daughter is the only infected human who displays any hesitance or remorse about their actions, and she actually ends up helping the main character.]]
* CreepyBasement: Where the first game takes place.
* CuteMonsterGirl: In the second game, [[spoiler:the Daughter is adorable and harmless]].
* DarkIsNotEvil: [[spoiler:The family's daughter. She's plenty creepy, suffering from the same infection the rest of her family is and enjoying the taste of monsters just as much as them, but is frightened by the changes in all of them and wants her mom to come back for her.]]
** [[spoiler:Also, both you and your friend are [[TomatoSurprise monsters]], but you help the Daughter cure her illness.]]
* DistressCall: The first game has a phone in the basement that you can use to call 2 different numbers; a handyman, and the Salvation Army. In the second game you find a cell phone, which you can again use to call a handy man.
* EvilSoundsRaspy: Subverted with the handyman who talks in a deep, gravelly voice, but isn't evil at all as he provides you with tools to help you escape.
* EyeScream:
** The first item the handyman sends you is a screwdriver with an ''eyeball'' as the handle.
** The BigBad goes down when [[spoiler: your revived monster friend stabs him through the eye with the tip of his own axe.]]
* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: It's a game about a monster's basement. [[spoiler:Also, about a monster ''in'' a basement]].
* {{Expy}}: The Brother is a pretty blatant expy of [[Film/TheTexasChainsawMassacre Leatherface]], being a chainsaw-wielding psychopath who wears a sack over his face.
* FatAndSkinny: [[spoiler:The protagonist is the skinny to his friend's fat, as seen at the end of the second game]].
* FeaturelessProtagonist: The player character is never seen, what with the game being a point-and-click. [[spoiler:At least, not until the ending of the second game, where they're revealed to look very similar to their friend, just skinnier]].
* GainaxEnding: The ending of the second installment is so short and full of jump cuts, with no real explanation of what it's depicting, that it's a little hard to follow. [[spoiler:Apparently, the Goliaths escapes back to their world, and give the Daughter the remnants of the healing potion from the first game, curing her.]]
* GuideDangIt: In the first game you find a note saying "Call Salvation". Which is actually what you're supposed to do in the game. The game doesn't provide you any hint of the phone number though. You either have to know it or look it up online.
* HumansAreBastards: [[spoiler:Subverted- apparently they didn't become more violent or turn into monsters until they started eating the monsters.]]
* InstantHomeDelivery: Whenever you call the handyman or salvation for help, an envelope with a tool inside arrives within seconds after you made the call.
* LateArrivalSpoiler: The second game spoils a few things about the first, like that [[spoiler:the "monster" was an infected human man who kidnapped monsters for eating]] and that both you the friend mentioned [[spoiler:are [[TomatoSurprise monsters]]]]. Oh, and also that the protagonist survives the first game.
* MissingMom: In the second game, the little girl's diary mentions that her mom left the family [[spoiler:to save herself from being infected. The poor kid waits for her to come back and save her]].
* MonstersThatEatOtherMonsters: [[spoiler:The infection your kidnapper picked up and spread to his family causes this - they became zombie-ish and found monsters to be delicious, so they began kidnapping and eating them.]]
* MuckMonster: You have to fight one off with an axe in the first game. According to [[spoiler:your kidnapper's diary]], it's called the Mud Vile, and seems to be naturally mindless and unreasonable. [[spoiler:It makes a brief cameo in the second game, where your friend defeats it and it leaves an item for you to continue.]]
* MundaneUtility: Somehow the family's daughter has a device that allows her to ''teleport''. She just uses it to hop around the house, instead of [[spoiler:using it to escape or get help]]. Justified in that she's very young and probably isn't able to think of more practical applications for it.
* NotQuiteDead: In the first game you have to attack another monster with an axe, seemingly kiling it. In the second game the same monster shows up again, with the axe still sticking out of its head.
* PointAndClickGame
* TomatoSurprise: [[spoiler:''You'' are the monster!]]
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds:
** The BigBad in the first game: [[spoiler:a UsefulNotes/WorldWarII–survivor who — while hiding from enemy soldiers — discovered an EldritchLocation inhabited by monsters, who were even more hostile to him than the soldiers were]]… resulting in [[spoiler:a TechnicallyLivingZombie infection that made him ironically crave monster flesh]]. After that, can you blame him for his [[AxCrazy Ax-Craziness]] [[spoiler:toward monsterkind (even if you yourself are one)]]?
** His [[spoiler:similarly infected]] family, in the second game. [[spoiler:Especially the daughter, who just wants to be cured so her mother will finally return.]]
* YouWakeUpInARoom: As with many such adventure games from this era, the plot starts with the protagonist waking up in a basement and unaware of how they got there.
