''Jurassic Park: Rampage Edition'' is a licensed Franchise/JurassicPark action game with a platformer setup for the UsefulNotes/SegaGenesis, and a sequel to [[VideoGame/JurassicParkSegaGenesis the first Jurassic Park game]] on that system. However, it basically throws all the rules of the first game out the window. As with the original, the game allows the player to choose between Dr. Grant or the ''Velociraptor''. If you choose to play as Grant, by default you start out with a dart gun that has infinite ammo. But there is a wide selection of weapons available for the player to obtain throughout the game. The variety of weapons in the game include an assault rifle, shotgun, taser, flame-thrower, grenades, rocket launcher, and shock rifle. As Dr. Grant you travel through fighting military type men, possibly private [=InGen=] protection, and dinosaurs until you are able to escape the island by boat.

If the player decides to play as the Raptor you win battles with physical attacks such as biting and whipping your tail. An interesting bonus for the ''Velociraptor'' is if you collect enough Lysine Cases you are able to go into "Rampage Mode" where the screen turns red and you become invincible for a limited amount of time. As the Raptor you play all the same levels as Dr. Grant allowing you to escape the island by hiding on a cargo boat.

Instead of the linear gameplay of the previous game, Rampage Edition allowed players to choose from three levels to complete before they were allowed to proceed to the final levels in order to win the game.

!!Tropes:
* ActionizedSequel: ''Rampage Edition'' eschews the previous game's slow, clunky gameplay style and ratchets up the action and tension.
* AdaptationalBadass: In the books and movies, Grant was just a paleontologist who was only ever able to scrape by on his wits. In this game, he's a OneManArmy who knows how to wield a plethora of weapons, and takes down legions of dinosaurs and armed mercenaries all by himself.
* AllThereInTheManual: There is some story about how Grant has postponed his escape from the island to put a stop to the [=InGen=] mercenaries looking to collect dinosaur eggs and DNA samples to build a new park, but it only exists in the game's instruction manual. Otherwise, there's no context given for why Grant is fighting both dinosaurs and military personnel alike.
* ArtisticLicensePaleontology: The raptor can eat chocolate bars with no ill effects whatsoever.
* EverythingTryingToKillYou: Yes, everything, even other humans in Grant's mode for some reason. A popular fan theory is that they're guards trying to keep the whole incident under wraps. Another one is that they're Biosyn agents, similar to ''VideoGame/JurassicPark2TheChaosContinues'', ''Rampage''[='=]s sister game for the SNES. The Manual however states that they're both [=InGen=] guards trying to gather DNA samples and the Costa Rican army(green) blowing everything up to kill the dinosaur threat.
* GuideDangIt: No, you're not supposed to kill the T-Rex final boss. You can shoot at it until the cows come home but nothing will happen. You're supposed to outrun it while shooting whenever it gets close so it doesn't eat you.
* HorseOfADifferentColor: In Grant's version of the savannah level, he must ride on horseback, or rather, on "Gallimimusback" to complete the stage faster.
* HyperactiveMetabolism: There are scattered chocolate bars in all the levels which both Grant and the Raptor can eat to regain some more health. They're particularly useful when your health bar is almost empty.
* InfiniteSupplies: The dart gun's infinite ammo. Best of all, if you have a turbo controller you can make it shoot as fast as the ''machine gun''.
* LogoJoke: At the beginning the T-Rex's roar as it stands below the Sega logo sounds like it's saying "Sega!"
* MadeOfExplodium: Everything explodes. Try shooting even ''butterflies'' as Dr. Grant.
* {{Mayincatec}}: The subject of the Hidden Ruins level, which boasts huge Olmec-like heads and Inca-like stepped pyramids. How ruins as large, extensive, and well-preserved as these went undiscovered on Isla Nublar all this time is never explained.
* MirrorMatch: The final boss for the Raptor is another ''Velociraptor'', with all of the same moves.
* MonsterIsAMommy: The Raptor is actually searching for a place to nest; it just so happens to be on a cargo ship that will take it to the mainland.
* MythologyGag: The scattered lysine boxes, which can only be eaten by the Raptor to go into [[SuperMode Rampage Mode]], are a throwback to the original novel and by extension, the first film, specifically Wu's (or Arnold's, in the film) claims about the cloned dinosaurs having been created to be [[ArtisticLicenseBiology unable to produce lysine by themselves]].
* OneHitKill:
** The taser gun does this, able to reduce humans and raptors into skeletons before disintegrating into dust. However, [[NoSell it has no effect on the T-Rex]].
** If the T-Rex so much as touches you with its jaws wide open, you're instantly eaten and it's game over.
* RiseToTheChallenge: At the end of the cargo ship level in Dr. Grant's mode he must flee rising water as the ship presumably sinks.
* ShortRangeShotgun: Grant's shotgun weapon puffs out a huge cloud of buckshot that clears about half a screen length before vanishing entirely.
* StockScream:
--> Ooh! Ooh! Ooh! AAAA!
* SuperPersistentPredator: The seemingly invincible T-Rex in Dr. Grant's last level will keep chasing Grant to the end no matter how many grenades or rockets are hurled at it.
* SuperMode: The Raptor can enter into "Rampage Mode" after consuming enough lysine boxes, giving it limited invincibility for a while.
* TerrifyingTyrannosaur: T-Rex only appears at the very end of Dr. Grant's last level, serving as the FinalBoss. And it cannot be harmed at all by Dr. Grant, at best only stunned temporarily. The only viable strategy against this terrifying dinosaur is speeding up your boat to the exit and stunning the T-Rex if it gets too close to you.
* TookALevelInBadass:
** Dr. Grant certainly has. Who knew a paleontologist could be so trained in handling weapons?
** The Raptor enemies have had their AI tweaked heavily from their sluggish, lumbering behavior in the previous game. Velociraptors are now just as fast, aggressive and deadly as the film made them out to be.
* AWinnerIsYou: After beating the game all you get is a shot of Dr. Grant escaping to a cargo ship offshore in his raft, with a volcano in the background for RuleOfCool and a catchy guitar riff also heard at the intro of the game. You get almost the same screen when playing as the Velociraptor.
