''Deus Ex: The Fall'', an Android, iOS and [=PC=] game, is a sequel to the novel ''Literature/DeusExIcarusEffect'', and a spin-off to the 2011 game ''VideoGame/DeusExHumanRevolution.''

During the six months in which Adam Jensen from ''Human Revolution'' was in rehab after the attack on Sarif Industries, ''The Fall'' focuses on the main character from the ''Icarus Effect'' novel, Ben Saxon. Originally developed for mobile platforms, the game was re-released on PC in March 2014... [[PortingDisaster poorly]].
----

!!This game provides examples of:

* AbortedArc: Was originally intended as the first episode in an episodic series. However, the game performed poorly and no additional entries were ever released. Ben Saxon is briefly mentioned in a Juggernaut Collective text log in ''Mankind Divided'', and supporting character Alex Vega plays a prominent role in that game.
* AncientConspiracy: [[spoiler:The Illuminati from ''Human Revolution'', and ''Icarus Effect'']].
* AdaptedOut: Gunther Hermann doesn't appear despite being a prominent adversary during Saxon's defection from the Tyrants in ''The Icarus Effect'' which the game's prologue is a re-telling of.
* ArbitraryGunPower: Weapons in the game are relatively weak compared to HR unless you get a headshot or upgrade them. Some of the unique versions available in the shop have higher damage but smaller magazines.
* ArmorPiercingAttack: The armor-piercing mod for the pistol returns.
* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler:In ''Icarus Effect'', Sam Duarte, Ben Saxon's friend at Belltower, was described being gunned down by a drone in the Australian outback. He got better, mainly because the Illuminati nursed him back to health, gave him new augmentations, and brainwashed him (or at least we think) into joining the Tyrants.]]
* BigBad: Bob Page acts as the behind-the-scenes villain of the game, just like in ''Human Revolution''.
* BoozeBasedBuff: Much like in the original ''Deus Ex'' and ''Human Revolution.''
* BoringButPractical:
** Keeping in with the ''Deus Ex'' tradition, the pistol. Most enemies carry one for most of the game for free ammo, and ammo is cheaper than the rifle ammo if one needs to buy it.
** Considering the lower enemy counts, upgrading to have two batteries regenerate actually makes melee this as even the game's relatively tankier enemies still go down in a single melee attack and having two regen batteries means two quick melee attacks available at the start of each encounter for free.
* CliffHanger: The game ends on one, as it was intended to be released episodically. As there has been no word from the developer in several years regarding a part 2, and given the rather sketchy history of episodic gaming (especially for First Person Shooters), it doesn't seem like there's going to be a resolution any time soon, but with the recent reveal of the Dawn Engine that Square Enix says new ''Deus Ex'' games will run on and a press release from the developers saying that they are working on "Deus Ex Universe", which will include upcoming console games, books and comics, and mobile spin-offs, perhaps there will be news in the near future.
* CoDragons: Both Jaron Namir and [[spoiler:Sam Duarte]] are this to Bob Page, especially demonstrated when [[spoiler:they both debrief him at the end of the game]].
* CoolestClubEver: Nightshades club in Panama.
* CosmeticallyAdvancedPrequel: Compared to ''Deus Ex'', set 25 years later.
* TheConspiracy: [[spoiler:The Illuminati is creating a shortage of the Neuropozyne drug for augmentations and a competitor corporation, Zaaphire Biotech, is rolling out a new product soon called Riezene, which claims to do the same thing. However, the Illuminati (through their PrivateMilitaryContractor Belltower and their shipping front company XNG) is flooding the slums of Panama City with Riezene to test the drug and disposing the bodies of anyone who dies from it. Someone in the World Health Organization is in on it and an inspector who tries to publish the truth is assassinated right in front of Saxon's very eyes. At the end of the game, the protagonists fly off to Australia to find out exactly why and if there's more to it.]]
* CyberPunk
* DevelopersForesight: If you go to the LIMB Clinic before getting the LIMB Card, you'll be turned away and when you return later with a LIMB Card, Saxon will admit Alvarez gave him one, causing the receptionist to get annoyed but letting him through anyway while if you only head to the LIMB Clinic with the Card, Saxon won't have to admit Alvarez gave him the card and the receptionist will let him through without incident.
* EliteMooks: [[spoiler: Belltower Spec Ops troopers appear as the opposition in the final section of the game. These include Belltower's augmented EliteMooks, the Sneakers and Ogres. Even the regular Belltower Spec Ops are noticeably tougher than the gangbangers and security guards you've been dealing with previously, having more health and being equipped with combat rifles.]]
* EverybodySmokes: Deconstructed, a line of news will mention that lung cancer is now on the rise.
* EverythingFades: Or at least people you've taken down does it - even if you performed a non-lethal takedown on them! This even allows to kill or disable a guard within a camera's range with the right timing, as he will have disappeared by the time the camera turns back in that direction.
* GameBreakingBug: The Pacifist achievements cannot be obtained on New Game + at all, you have to start a completely new save by resetting story progress in order to qualify for it.
* HeavilyArmoredMook: [[spoiler: You'll face a few Belltower Ogres in the game's last level. They can soak almost a hundred rounds of combat rifle fire to the torso, but can be taken out immediately with a melee takedown as long as they're not aware of you.]]
* IncrediblyDurableEnemies: Relatively compared to ''Human Revolution'' (or ''Mankind Divided'', for that matter). Even the basic Mooks take several pistol shots to the torso to kill, compared to just a couple in the mainline games. This is likely a holdover from the mobile version's pay-to-win weapon upgrade system, though in practice, headshots/explosives still instantly kill most enemies and /melee takedowns/Stungun still takes them down instantly.
* InterfaceScrew: Neuropozyne withdrawals will do this to Ben.
* InvulnerableKnuckles: If he performs a non-lethal takedown to a single enemy from the front, Ben will always knock him out with a punch from his flesh-and-bones hand, even if he's heavily armored.
* KarmaHoudini: [[spoiler:It's implied a sequel is going to be made, but Bob Page, Jaron Namir and Sam Duarte get off scott-free. Subverted in the case of Namir, since you kill him in ''Human Revolution'', and Page, since he's the BigBad of the original ''VideoGame/DeusEx'' and you can kill him at the end of that game too]].
* MadeOfIron: Even basic enemies can shrug off anything thats not a headshot. Including a point blank blast with a shotgun. This often results in being horribly murdered because the [=NPC=]s are able to shrug off damage, but you cant.
* TheMafiya: Saxon fights them at the beginning of the game.
* NewGamePlus: After beating the game, you can replay it from the beginning, at a higher difficulty level, with all your weapons, items, and augs though an annoying oversight means it won't reset your pacifism status and you'll have to start a brand new save file for that.
* {{Prequel}}: To ''Human Revolution'' as it takes place during the time Adam Jensen spends in recovery before the main events of the game, as well as to the original ''Deus Ex''.
* SequelHook: At the end of the game, [[spoiler:Ben Saxon, Alex Vega, and Anna Kelso all head off to Australia to uncover the truth about the Riezene conspiracy and Zaaphire Biotech. Meanwhile, Jaron Namir and Sam Duarte assure Bob Page that they will hunt Saxon down and kill him. The screen then flashes: {{TO BE CONTINUED}}.]]
* ShoutOut: In the XNG Data Center you find an e-mail talking about a guy called [[Film/OfficeSpace Milton]] who just turns up but there is no record of his employment.
* TasteOfPower: The tutorial mission allows the player to have the stealth aug, upgraded assualt rifle and crossbow for free. Afterwards, the player has to work up to get them back again.
** If the player takes the Riezene early on, the player will temporarily gain the effects of all the energy augmentations, with inceased max energy and quicker regenerating energy, while it eventually goes away (It's unknown if this is by progressing the main plot or just time) it does provide the player with a bit of a helping hand in the early game if they haven't already purchased those augmentations as you essentially get their effects for free [[spoiler: though considering what's revealed, it's likely this would have negatively impacted the player later had the game continued.]]
* TheTeaser: The game opens up with the tutorial mission through the Russian Mob hideout and Ben's defection from the Tyrants before the title sequence.
* TwentyMinutesIntoTheFuture: The game was released in 2013, and is set in the same 2027 setting as Human Revolution.
* UnwinnableByInsanity: If you fail the conversation, you need to pay 500 Credits for a LIMB from Alvarez to continue the game, if you waste every ''single credit you pick up at this point'' including the 1000 credits reward from a sidequest Alvarez offers after this conversation that you can do before buying the LIMB card, you are stuck until you either buy credits via microtransactions (Mobile) or reset your save data in the settings (PC), though since Alvarez literally gives you double the required amount for a sidequest you can only take after being told as well this being the very first quest in the game, you have to be trying to get stuck here.
* WholeEpisodeFlashback: The opening mission.
