* AcclaimedFlop: Downplayed. While the original game failed to meet sales expectations, its low budget allowed it to still be profitable.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: In addition to never being dubbed in English, the second season of the anime was also never released on DVD in Japan. Oh, and it only aired once. Though Chinese subs of the first few Season 2 episodes crop up from time to time and the Spanish dub is readily available, you'll never find high-quality recordings for the Japanese track of Season 2, especially the later half. Trust us.
* TheOriginalDarrin: After being replaced by Matthew Kaminsky for ''VideoGame/DevilMayCry2'', Drew Coombs returns as the voice of [[VideoGame/DevilMayCry1 Dante]].
* TheOtherDarrin: For the anime adaptation:
** None of the English actors of the games reprised their roles. The anime was dubbed at Plastic Cloud instead of Soundelux Design Music Group, where the game was recorded.
** Creator/BobPapenbrook, the English voice of Captain Blue, succumbed to chronic lung problems in 2006 (in fact, Blue was Papenbrook's final anime voiceover credit). He was replaced by Creator/PaulStPeter for the rest of the series.
** In Red Hot Rumble, Dave Fennoy takes over from Kevin Michael Richardson as Hulk Davidson and Fire Leo.
* RoleReprise: Drew Coombs, the original voice of Dante, reprised his role for the first game.
* ScrewedByTheNetwork:
** The video game series was intended to be a trilogy, but didn't end as planned due to the closing of Creator/CloverStudio.
** The anime got a very poor treatment when it aired on Cartoon Network in Latin America. It only aired during the late hours of the night (12:00 AM and 01:00 AM) due to the channel screwing over anime series on purpose to favor their original shows. If it wasn't for fans recording the episodes, the dub would be completly lost today.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** ''Viewtiful Joe 2'' would have had a co-op mode where one player plays as Joe and the other as Silvia. This was implied in the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zVS1AimC1Q first teaser trailer,]] but Creator/{{Capcom}} decided to remove this early during the development process.
** There was also supposed to be a second sequel, but instead ''Double Trouble'' and ''Red Hot Rumble'' were released while the third was being planned. Clover then was shut down.
