Context Trivia / Tweenies

Go To

* ActingForTwo: Bob Golding voices both Milo and Max, while Justin Fletcher voices Doodles the dog as well as Jake, and in the final series, Colleen Daley voices both Fizz and Izzles, the new dog.
* AdoredByTheNetwork: The show was one of the BBC's biggest cash-cows of the late 90's and early 2000's, almost as much as Series/{{Teletubbies}}.
* BannedEpisode: The Creator/JimmySavile scandal has rendered "Favourite Songs" -- an episode featuring a parody of ''Series/TopOfThePops'' -- banned. Bizarrely, it missed the initial cull on Savile-related material.
* CrossDressingVoices: Milo is voiced by a female in the US dub. Averted in the UK dub where he is voiced by a male.
* DistancedFromCurrentEvents: The BBC were forced to apologise after a January 2013 rerun of a 2001 episode that featured a spoof of ''Series/TopOfThePops'' and Max dressed as its most famous host, Jimmy Savile... as the rerun came just days after the official police report on Savile's crimes (he was a real life DepravedKidsShowHost who allegedly used his fame and reputation to molest hundreds of underage girls and boys).
* DuelingDubs: There's both a UK and a US dub, though the latter [[KeepCirculatingTheTapes has largely been lost]].
* DuelingShows: With ''Series/WimziesHouse'' on Creator/NickJr in the United Kingdom, which premiered in the country the same year as this show and also followed the adventures of four preschool-aged kids at a home daycare.
* IWantYouToMeetAnOldFriendOfMine: The American version of the show was an adaptation of a BBC show produced by Rick Sigglekow that had Creator/AlysonCourt and Creator/JamesRankin voicing some of the characters. ''Series/TheNoddyShop'', the American adaptation of ''WesternAnimation/NoddysToylandAdventures'', also shared these traits.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes:
** Although the BBC still owns the right to the series, many of the VHS and DVD releases were compilations that didn't have much of the episodes in order, and nowadays are out of print.
** The American dub has never seen any home video releases unlike the original British version.
* KidsMealToy: Red Rooster had a set of four plush keyrings; Fizz, Jake, Bella, and Milo.
* LiveOnStage: The show has had several touring stage shows performed throughout its' run, as well as some shows produced long after the TV show's cancellation.
* MarathonRunning: On Bank Holiday Monday in August of 2002 and 2003, Creator/CBeebies had an all-day Tweenies marathon titled the Tweenies Funday. This is one of the rare occasions where [=CBeebies=] have had a marathon of one show on their channel.
* MissingEpisode: The series' spin-off series, 'Be Safe with the Tweenies' (which evidently focused on teaching children about safety) had one of these that was about being safe around knives. Said episode was banned by the BBC themselves due to the inclusion of the object in question. It would eventually be found in May 2023.
* NonSingingVoice: This trope was used in the American English dub. This was because while the voices were recorded in Canada, the songs were recorded in Nashville and used local talent to provide the singing voices, the same method employed by another series Rick Siggelkow had a hand in, ''The Noddy Shop''.
* TheOtherDarrin: Bella was voiced by Sally Preisig in the first two series. Emma Weaver voiced Bella for the remainder of the series after Preisig took maternity leave.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Original concept art shows that there was going to be a fifth Tweenie: a green-skinned boy named Sid/Syd, who was described as a "sensitive chap". It wasn't confirmed why he didn't make the final cut, but it seems that his sensitive traits [[CompositeCharacter were passed over to Jake]] and Judy took on his skin colour.
** Bella and Fizz were both going to have twintail hair styles. In the final product, Bella wore her hair down with a red bow and Fizz had braided pigtails.
** Bella originally wore a red shirt with a print of flowers and had a blue skirt and had green hair. In the final show, her hair is yellow, and her outfit was a yellow shirt and overalls.
** Fizz originally wore a green flower-print dress with a belt, before this was changed to the same thing, but in pink.
** Dave Benson Phillips was originally offered to voice Milo, but his manager wouldn't let Tell-Tale Productions hire him, because Dave was "too talented to be inside a suit". Bob Golding, a friend of Dave's in real-life, instead did the voice for Milo.
*** The reason why was that Dave's manager ended up mishearing what his role was actually going to be.
** [[http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/3715313.stm A Tweenies movie]] was supposed to be released in the summer of 2005.
