Context Trivia / TransformersAlignedUniverse

Go To

* BadExportForYou: Only the first two seasons of ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime'' and the first two seasons and the Starscream arc of ''WesternAnimation/TransformersRobotsInDisguise2015'' were released in Japan, meaning huge chunks of backstory and plot-important things were left out. On the flip side, ''Anime/TransformersGo'' was not released in the U.S. and Hasbro has refused to acknowledge it save for Gaidora and Budora making a couple of appearances.
* CreatorBacklash: A lot of the creative teams behind the various entries didn't want their work in the Aligned continuity in the first place, which goes to explain a lot of the [[BroadStrokes creative license]] and [[ContinuitySnarl various continuity issues]] between each entry. By the time ''Prime'' ended, the Binder of Revelation, the UniverseBible, had ended up completely ignored (and even before then, the IDW comics had already established too many character backstories for it to have been feasible to use anyway).
* FlipFlopOfGod: Hasbro had earlier stated that the Aligned universe wasn't part of the larger Transformers multiverse. However, they've since changed their minds as works like ''Rise of the Dark Spark'' and ''WesternAnimation/TransformersAnimated''[='=]s ''[[AllThereInTheManual The Complete AllSpark Almanac]]'' have since placed it as part of the larger multiverse after all, just unknown to it until the events of the former.
* GodDoesNotOwnThisWorld: Despite wanting to create a cohesive narrative with the Aligned continuity, Hasbro didn't retain creative control when licensing the franchise to other studios, more or less allowing the various creative staffs to do whatever they wanted and openly ignore established plot points from other parts of the continuity
* TheOtherDarrin: If a character isn't named [[Creator/PeterCullen Optimus Prime]], chances are good they have a different voice actor in the games and cartoon--and even then, Optimus has been recast in ''[[WesternAnimation/TransformersRescueBotsAcademy Rescue Bots Academy]]'', twice at that.
* RefittedForSequel: Despite the implosion of the overall Aligned continuity, enough groundwork has been laid out for Hasbro to establish the Aligned lore as the “default” lore for the franchise. ''WesternAnimation/TransformersCyberverse'' and the IDW 2005 and 2019 continuities both ended up drawing heavily from it, and behind-the-scenes featurettes for ''Film/TransformersTheLastKnight'' make it clear that when the story group asked Hasbro for franchise lore, they were given the Aligned mythology verbatim to try to make the films adopt it. This is despite the utterly massive ContinuitySnarl caused by trying to pave over the movies’s backstory with the Aligned continuity’s lore.
* StillbornFranchise: Though individual parts of the continuity were successful, pretty much every longterm plan Hasbro had for the IP went off the rails very quickly. The Binder of Revelation was mostly ignored, and the various factions within the company had little interest in staying consistent with each other, if only because they wanted to tell their own stories. Rik Alvarez, the main architect of the whole thing, left Hasbro not long after, and seems to have not done so on good terms (his only real peep since being convention panels where he talked about WhatCouldHaveBeen, and the failed crowdfunding campaigns for Play With This Too). In any case, ''Rescue Bots Academy'' was the last thing to come out of the franchise, with it barely clinging on to life by the time it got there.
* TroubledProduction: [[https://web.archive.org/web/20160814060738/http://sunnybutte.tumblr.com/post/131367083128/that-explains-a-lot-of-the-mess-that-was As shown]] [[https://web.archive.org/web/20151222112459/http://sunnybutte.tumblr.com/post/131368170623/and-if-you-were-wondering-why-beast-hunters-was in these panels]], the current Aligned continuity is the result of many disagreements and miscommunications between the different story teams, resulting in the BroadStrokes and [[ContinuitySnarl Continuity Snarls]] on each medium.
