[[folder:Voice Actors]]
* ActingForTwo:
** DJ, his momma, and Chef are all voiced by Creator/CleBennett. In ''Pahkitew Island'', he voices the beard buddies Beardo and Leonard.
** Kevin Duhaney voices both Cameron and his mother.
** Creator/CoryDoran voiced all of Mike and his five personalities, creating a unique voice for each of them.
** The identical twins Amy and Samey share the same voice actress, Creator/BrynMcAuley.
** Creator/PeterOldring voices Ezekiel, Tyler, and Cody.
** Creator/ScottMcCord voices Trent and Owen.
** Creator/StephanieAnneMills voices both Lindsay and Katie.
** Creator/NovieEdwards voices Leshawna and her cousin Leshaniqua.
** Creator/AlexHouse voices both Alejandro and his older brother José.
** Creator/ChristianPotenza voices Chris [=McLean=] (up until ''Pahkitew Island'') as well as his cousin Jerd.
** Creator/BarbaraMamabolo voices Zoey and Millie.
** Internationally:
*** In the Spanish (Latin America) version, Trent and Sam, Gwen and Dakota, Lindsay and Zoey, Katie and Blaineley, Bridgette and Axel, and Heather and Staci all share a voice actor.
*** The Quebec French version has Owen/Sam (voiced by Patrick Chouinard), Lindsay/Katie (voiced by Geneviève Cocke), Trent/Justin (voiced by Sébastien Delorme), Noah/Cody (voiced by Creator/PhilippeMartin), Ezekiel/Tyler (voiced by Creator/HugolinChevretteLandesque), Eva/Sadie (voiced by Camille Cyr-Desmarais), Chef/DJ (voiced by Widemir Normil), and Beth/Bridgette (voiced by Marika Lhoumeau).
*** In Poland, Owen and Noah are voiced by the same guy, which becomes very notable in ''The Ridonculous Race''. Duncan and Ezekiel had the same voice, as well. In Ezekiel's first appearance, he was voiced by Tyler's voice actor. Justin's only lines in ''Island''[[note]](not counting the special[[/note]] was voiced by Chris' voice actor. Emma and Kitty have the same voice in ''Ridonculous Race''.
*** European French: Aside from Jay and Mickey (the twins), Ellody/Mary; Rock/Spud; and Emma/Kitty in ''The Ridonculous Race'' are voiced by the same person. Another example (this time not from Ridonculous Race) Lindsay/Sugar.
*** Hebrew: In the season finale of ''The Ridonculous Race'', Rock was voiced by Spud's VA Saar Badishi, rather than his usual actor.
*** Russia: The Russian dub has Courtney/Lindsay/Izzy/Jo/Staci/Eva/Zoey (Revenge of the Island)/Leshawna/All Stars Zoey, and Duncan/Lightning and Dmitry Filimonov does Cody/Dave/Ezekiel/Harold/Geoff (Total Drama Island)/Tyler/Shawn/Topher/Brick.
*** Sweden: The voice actors who voices more than one character are Gabriel Odenhammar (Cody/DJ), John Maxe (Trent/Harold), Jamil Drissi (Noah/Justin) and Claudia Galli (Eva/Katie).
* ActorSharedBackground: Cameron was originally designed as a Caucasian character, but was changed to a black character after Kevin Duhaney was cast in the role.
* AllStarCast: This happens in many aspects in the world.
** The list seems big for the original Canadian version. In the English version, Owen and Trent are played by Creator/ScottMcCord, Creator/EmilieClaireBarlow is Courtney, Creator/StephanieAnneMills is Lindsay/Katie, Creator/NovieEdwards is Leshawna, Creator/AnnickObonsawin is Sierra, Creator/MeganFahlenbock is Gwen, Creator/{{Brian Froud|Actor}} is Harold/Sam, Creator/CoryDoran is Mike/Mike's Personalities, [[Series/PowerRangersDinoThunder Kevin Duhaney]] is Cameron, Creator/CaitlynneMedrek is Dawn, Creator/ZacharyBennett is Shawn, Creator/DanielDeSanto is Dave, Creator/BrynMcAuley is Amy/Samey, and others to name.
* CastTheRunnerUp:
** Creator/KristinFairlie originally auditioned for Gwen, but was cast as Bridgette.
** Creator/ChristianPotenza auditioned for Ezekiel, but was cast as Chris.
** Creator/BrynMcAuley originally auditioned for Ella, while Creator/SundayMuse auditioned for the twins, but they each ended up getting the roles the other auditioned for.
* TheCastShowoff:
** ''World Tour'' really allowed Creator/EmilieClaireBarlow to show off her ability to sing.
** Ella was the perfect excuse to show off Creator/SundayMuse's singing.
* CrossdressingVoices:
** DJ's Momma is voiced by Creator/CleBennett, who also voices both Chef and DJ.
** Kevin Duhaney voices both Cameron and his mother.
** Creator/CoryDoran voiced all of Mike's personalities, which included the female Svetlana.
* CrossRegionalVoiceActing: All of ''Total Drama'''s voice actors record from Toronto, Ontario, with the exception of Creator/CaitlynneMedrek, the voice of Dawn, who instead recorded her lines from Calgary, Alberta.
* TheDanza:
** An interesting case where they're all Chrises: Chris [=McLean=] was voiced by [[Creator/ChristianPotenza Chris(tian) Potenza]] up until ''Pahkitew Island'', and his AscendedFanboy Topher is voiced by [[Creator/ChristopherJacot Chris(topher) Jacot]].
** Julia is voiced by Julie Sype.
** In the Quebecois dub, Don (named Joël in French Canada) is voiced by Joël Legendre.
* DawsonCasting: Surprisingly for a show with so many teenage characters, there is not a single actual teenager in the voice cast, and they are all instead voiced by adults who were at least in their 20s.
* DescendedCreator:
** Creator/LaurieElliott, one of the main writers for the show from ''World Tour'' onwards, provides the voice of Jo.
** Creator/TerryMcGurrin, who also wrote for those seasons and served as executive story editor for ''All-Stars'' and ''Pahkitew Island'', would go on to voice Don in the the ''Ridonculous Race'' spinoff (where he was also the series developer, story editor, and executive producer, as well as a writer), as well as Chris starting with ''Island (2023)''
* FakeAmerican: Justin is Hawaiian but his voice actor Creator/AdamReid comes from Ontario.
* FakeAustralian: Canadian Creator/CoryDoran voices Mike's alternate personality Manitoba Smith, who is Australian.
* FakeMixedRace: Heather is half Asian, but voiced by Caucasian Creator/RachelWilson.
* FakeNationality:
** Many non-Caucasian characters like Noah, Dave, Courtney, Lightning, Justin, and Jasmine are played by Caucasians.
** Zoey is white but is played by the black Creator/BarbaraMamabolo.
* FakeRussian: Creator/CoryDoran voices Svetlana, one of Mike's alternate personalities who claims to be Russian. She speaks with a thick accent, [[NotEvenBotheringWithTheAccent although it doesn't really sound very Russian.]]
* MultipleLanguagesSameVoiceActor: In the Castilian Spanish and Catalan dubs, Owen is voiced by Aleix Estadella.
* OnlySoManyCanadianActors: Under Canadian content law, ''Total Drama'' can only use Canadian voice actors in its production. Given the series' large cast, even early on, it's quite impressive that Fresh used as many Canadian actors and actresses as they did, although some did [[ActingForTwo play multiple roles]].
* TheOtherDarrin:
** In ''Island'', the Psycho Killer was voiced by Creator/ScottMcCord (Trent and Owen). In ''All-Stars'', Creator/{{Brian Froud|Actor}} (Harold and Sam) voiced him.
** In ''All-Stars'', Creator/AlexHouse replaced Marco Grazzini as Alejandro. And prior to that, Keith Oliver (co-director of every TD related project since ''World Tour'') did his voice while inside the Drama Machine.
** After voicing the character for 7 years, Creator/CleBennett is replaced as Chef Hatchet by his voice actor from ''WesternAnimation/TotalDramaRama'', Creator/DevenMack, due to Bennett moving to the United States.
** Starting with ''Island (2023)'', Chris [=McLean=] is voiced by Creator/TerryMcGurrin, ending Creator/ChristianPotenza's 15-year run as Chris from 2007 to 2021. [[WordOfGod According to Terry, this was a creative decision, rather than an executive one.]] Christian Potenza would [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNsrf_Vii2w clarify]] that, while [[TheOtherMarty he did originally record lines for Chris]] in that season, the decision to recast Chris was a mix of the sexual allegations against him caused by Sonya Cote that caused Fresh TV to cut ties with him and him losing interest in the franchise due to [[IAmNotSpock disliking being associated with voicing Chris]].
** When the Tennis Rivals make a cameo in the second season of "Island (2023)", Pete is the one to speak, but instead of Creator/AdrianTruss, his line is provided by Gerry's voice actor Creator/DavidHuband.
** In the Hebrew dub of the "Ridonculous Race" season finale, Rock and Kelly were the only characters to be voiced by someone other than their regular voice actors. Rock was voiced by Saar Badishi, who was already Spud (his partner) and Gerry. Kelly, on the other hand, was voiced by the same lady who was voicing Josee (Anat Niv).
*** Meanwhile, in the Spanish version, Creator/RebecaAponte (Katie and Blaineley) took over Marycel Gonzaález's role of Josee for the rest of the season/spin-off.
** Half of the cast get recasted in the Hebrew dub of ''[=DramaRama=]''; some with new actors and others who already voiced a past Total Drama character: Gwen (Hilly Israel -> Lauren Savir, who was Amy and Kitty), Jude (Eran Mor, who was Dwayne), Beth (Orly Katan -> Maya Mittelpunkt, who also voices [=MacArthur=]), Harold (Tomer Geler -> Tomer Levy), Noah (Jonathan Magon -> Uri Salzman), and Owen (Daniel Magon -> Gilan Shahaf, who voiced Lightning).
** In the Spanish dub, Chef Hatchet and Beth are among the many charactes to end up with new voice actors for ''WesternAnimation/{{Total DramaRama}}''. Guillermo Martinez (Chef's 2nd voice) died in November 2014 and was replaced with Roger Eliud Lopez (Brick). Mariana Gamboa (Beth) retired from voice acting and was replaced with Gabriela Belen (who voiced Amy, Samey, Ellody, and Crimson).
** Starting with Brazilian dub of "All-Stars", Marcela Duarte replaced Silvia Goiabeira as the voice of Lindsay, and Rodrigo Oliveira replaced José Luiz Barbeito as the voice of Owen.
** For now, the only characters confirmed to be recast in the Brazilian Portuguese dub of ''WesternAnimation/{{Total DramaRama}}'' are Courtney and Noah. Iara Riça was denied the chance to return and was replaced by Hannah Buttel, while Ettore Zuim moved from Rio de Janeiro (where the series is dubbed) to São Paulo and was replaced by Hércules Fernando. Ana Lucia Menezes died on April 20, 2021, meaning the role of Bridgette would be recast for the rest of the franchise. In one episode, Don was voiced by Raphael Rossatto instead of Daniel Muller. While ''Total Drama'' was announced for two new seasons, it is not known if Hannah Buttel would resume her [then-new] role of Courtney for the new seasons, especially after Iara Rica's unexpected death on April 27, 2021.
** In the Italian dub of "All-Stars", Lindsay and Gwen ended up with new actresses. Creator/ValentinaMari for Lindsay and Roberta de Roberto for Gwen.
** A few of the Italian voice actors were also replaced in ''WesternAnimation/{{Total DramaRama}}'': Bridgette (Creator/IlariaLatini -> Creator/ValentinaMari, who had voiced Lindsay in All-Stars), Izzy (Creator/MicaelaIncitti -> Creator/RossellaAcerbo), Jude Lizowski (Creator/AlessioWard -> Creator/ManuelMeli, who had voiced Lorenzo), and Owen (Creator/FabrizioVidale -> Creator/MassimoDeAmbrosis).
** All over the place in the Polish dub of ''[=DramaRama=]'' - the only characters who got to keep their old voices were Chef[[note]]and even then only for two first series, though that's because the original voice actor, Miłogost Reczek, [[CharacterOutlivesActor succumbed to cancer in 2021]].[[/note]], Owen and [=MacArthur=]. Some of the new voice actors had already voiced other characters in different TD installments: Agnieszka Fajlhauer (Courtney) previously voiced Zoey, Scarlett and Miles, while Maksymilian Michasiów (Duncan) voiced Mickey and Jay in ''The Ridonculous Race''.
* QueerCharacterQueerActor: Bowie, who is gay, is voiced by Brandon Michael Arrington, who is part of the LGBTQ community as well.

[[folder:Fandom]]
* AscendedFanon: In Action, a recurring intern attracted attention and, because someone thought he looked a bit like Billy Idol, was nicknamed "Billy the Intern". Not only does he appear a lot more in the third season, the show's official blog refers to him as "Billy".
* BeamMeUpScotty: The meme in which Chris says "Alright campers, I heard from an anonymous source that [=SOMEone=] is [doing blank]. Not. Cool. Dudes." is not an actual line of dialogue in the show. The screencap commonly used alongside the quote is from the ''World Tour'' episode "Broadway, Baby!" when Chris yells at Sierra to "zip it" about his embarrassing past. This makes the quote even ''less'' accurate in spirit, since the contestants are not called "campers" in ''World Tour''.
* FandomLifeCycle: Currently at stage 3, but is nearing the brink of stage 4.
* FanworkBan: While fanfiction tends to get off lightly, Creator/FreshTV doesn't take kindly to other kinds of fan projects based on the series and has taken down several particularly high-profile ones:
** ''VideoGame/{{FusionFall}} Legacy'', a fanmade continuation of the now-defunct ''[=FusionFall=]'' was originally planned to have ''Total Drama'' characters, with Chris [=McLean=] being shown off as an [=NPC=] before a claim from Creator/FreshTV requested that he and the ''TD'' universe be removed.
** Creator/FreshTV has taken action against several ''Platform/{{Roblox}}'' servers based on the show, forcing those servers to either be taken down or change the character names to legal-friendly substitutes.
** Infamously, the non-profit WebAnimation ''Total Drama Reunion'' was taken down by Creator/FreshTV a mere ''day'' after the first episode went up, with Creator/ChristianPotenza himself going on record as calling the web show "plagiarism".

[[folder:Production]]
* AccidentallyCorrectWriting: As contentious as the show's portrayal of [[SplitPersonality Dissociative Identity Disorder]] is, some aspects of it reflect some less well-known aspects of the disorder, such as the presence of a headspace. While Mike [[spoiler:deleting his alters while retaining some of their skills]] is pretty cartoonish, it does resemble the concept of [[https://did-research.org/treatment/integration.html integration,]] where a system learns to integrate into one being (though it's obviously a much more lengthy and complex process than [[spoiler:pushing a button]].)
* AdoredByTheNetwork:
** ''Total Drama'' was Creator/{{Teletoon}}'s highest rated show ''of all time'' when it debuted on the channel in the summer of 2007, so it should come as no surprise that the network was quick to order new seasons and transform the show into their biggest franchise once they got word of the first season's huge success in the United States. Throughout the late 2000s and early 2010s, Teletoon gave ''Total Drama'' plenty of healthy airings at accessible hours for its audience, lots of visible advertising, opportunities for young viewers to interact with the show (see [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voPTC1EtGzI here]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-rx4oqIoo8 here]]), and even cross-promotion of the series with other shows like ''WesternAnimation/{{Stoked}}'' (see [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpaMuI0-2GA here]]) and ''WesternAnimation/{{Skatoony}}'' (where the contestants appear as guest characters). Even after ''Total Drama'''s initial run ended, ''WesternAnimation/TotalDramaRama'' was promoted under the impression kids would already be familiar with the parent series (see [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L86UCmNPFW0 here]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HM45_D2W8Q here]]). To put it simply, it's safe to say that ''Total Drama'' is the biggest success story to have come out of Teletoon ever.
** The show has also been treated very nicely by Creator/CartoonNetwork ever since it came to the channel in the summer of 2008, and has since proven to be Teletoon's most successful series in the United States. Throughout the late 2000s and early 2010s, the show always received heavy promotion and plenty of airtime during the spring and summer, with the network even sacrificing time usually reserved for major airwave hogs just to prepare for a new season and make room for reruns of the previous seasons. Heck, the success of the SpinoffBabies show ''WesternAnimation/TotalDramaRama'' even resulted in the original show making an unexpected return to the channel.
* ChannelHop: In some countries, Total Drama Island was aired on Creator/DisneyXD.
** In Britain, the show initially ended at ''Action''. However, the show would rerun on Kix, although only ''Island'' was reran.
** In the Netherlands, the show ended at the original ''Island'' until Creator/CartoonNetwork continued the show starting with ''Action''.
** In Canada, the show moved to Cartoon Network starting with the spin-off ''The Ridonculous Race'', after six seasons on Creator/{{Teletoon}} (which continues to fund the series' production). However, Total Drama would return on Teletoon with ''Total [=DramaRama=]''. This leaves ''The Ridonculous Race'' as the only installment in the franchise to not air on Teletoon in English-speaking Canada. However, ''The Ridonculous Race'' did air on Teletoon in French-speaking Canada.
* ChristmasRushed: ''Pahkitew Island'' was not only produced at the same time as ''All-Stars'', but supposedly also underwent no rewrites or revisions before going into production. This would definitely explain some of the more questionable writing decisions made during the season such as the way that [[spoiler:Scarlett was defeated]].
* ContentLeak:
** The second half of [[Recap/TotalDramaSoUhThisIsMyTeam So, Uh, This Is My Team?]]'s storyboard was leaked online months before the episode's premiere.
** A recap from the second episode of the second season of the reboot, which included mentions of the first elimination, [[https://youtube.com/watch?v=t_CrPrSaGpA was leaked]] by Chris's Venezuelan voice actor months before the season's premiere.
** The first episode of the second season of the reboot was accidentally posted on the Italian feed of Discovery+ a week before it was meant to come out.
* CowboyBebopAtHisComputer: Creator/CartoonNetwork and Creator/{{Netflix}} classified ''Pahkitew Island'' as Season 6, despite it being the second part of Season 5. Likewise, ''The Ridonculous Race'' was considered Season 7, even though it was a spin-off.
* CreatorBacklash:
** Tom [=McGillis=] has admitted that Ezekiel's mistreatment is the worst thing he had ever done on Total Drama.
** Despite preferring Gwuncan over Duncney, allegedly Drew Nelson (Duncan) wasn't too keen on the way that the former couple came to be in World Tour.
** Megan Fahlenbock (Gwen) supposedly said that she wasn't proud of Gwen's overall behavior in that season, mainly her handling of the love triangle.
** Christine Thompson (an employee at Fresh TV in charge of their social media profiles) was greatly against the producers' decision to have Gwen and Courtney's friendship fail once more in All-Stars, in order to keep the drama between them going.
** Christian Potenza (Chris) has [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNsrf_Vii2w said]] that he had grown to dislike how increasingly sadistic Chris had gotten in later seasons to the point where it was a factor in Chris being recast for the reboot seasons.
* CreatorsFavorite:
** Owen to Tom [=McGillis=]. As confirmed in a Reddit interview, he also likes Duncan, Heather, Noah, and Beth.
** Cameron to Ed [=MacDonald=].
** Apparently, Duncan to Todd Kauffman and Alex Naussbaum.
** Izzy to Jennifer Pertsch.
** Max to Creator/TerryMcGurrin. He confirmed on [[https://twitter.com/standupmonkey/status/1611155181835624449 Twitter]] that his other favorites include Owen, Leshawna, Heather, and Izzy from first generation, Jo and Sam from the second generation, Samey and Leonard from the third generation, the Goths, [=MacArthur=], and Chet from the ''Ridonculous Race'', and Beth, Gwen, Duncan, Harold, Courtney, and Chef on ''Drama Rama''.
* DigitalDestruction:
** The remastered version of "Trial by Tri-Armed Triathlon" cuts out the "D x C" that Duncan carves on the back of wooden Courtney's head.
** The remastered version of "Hawaiian Punch" removes a gum stuck to Harold's shoe sole when he motivates Heather to continue the challenge alongside Cody.
* DistancedFromCurrentEvents: ''Revenge of the Island'' takes place on a polluted Camp Wawanakwa that has become a toxic dumping ground since the events of ''Total Drama Island'' (2007). It was originally set to come out sometime in 2011 but the nuclear disaster in Japan that year as a result of a tsunami forced the show's Canadian producers to delay the season and edit it extensively to mitigate any sort of insensitive reference that could be tied to the disaster, like renaming the "Radioactive Rats" to the "Toxic Rats". As a result, the season suffered from a ScheduleSlip and had to be halted until 2012.
* ExecutiveMeddling:
** The higher-ups at Creator/{{Teletoon}} asked for the break-ups of Gwen & Trent in ''Action'' and later Duncan & Courtney and Owen & Izzy in ''World Tour'' because they wanted to show kids that "First loves don't always last".
** Creator/MeganFahlenbock (Gwen) confirmed in a now deleted Facebook post that it was a decision made by "the network" (meaning either Teletoon and/or Cartoon Network) to not only not have her reprise Gwen for ''[=DramaRama=]'' but fire her from the role entirely.
* FlipFlopOfGod: Regarding Courtney's ethnicity, Todd Kauffman has said that she's Hispanic, while Tom [=McGillis=] has said that she's Asian.
* GodNeverSaidThat:
** It was widely believed that Lindsay was meant to be a finalist in ''Action'', but due to her voice actress having scheduling issues, it was changed to Beth. However, none of the creators have said or hinted at that being the case.
** Another commonly believed rumor was that Courtney was intended to be a finalist in ''All-Stars'' after redeeming herself for her actions in prior seasons. Not only was this never said by the creators, but they explicitly said that they had no intention of redeeming Courtney.
** It's frequently circulated that Tom [=McGillis=] was forced to make Gwen/Trent and Duncan/Courtney break up and to have Gwen date Duncan, and that he explicitly disliked both decisions. The [[https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkx8Jp6YFm1zff1Q7cAadWMRCf7D7ZAVVro?si=ir2znvd0YbWOWf relevant interview clip]] does confirm that the breakups were the form of ExecutiveMeddling to show the realities of teen dating, but Tom shows no indication of disapproving of this decision, and even refers to the executive who requested it as a "friend" and claims she thought hard about the decision. He also claims to be "ambivalent" about the Gwen/Duncan ship (though his tone indicates he skews negative about it), but also says it was a "''writing room decision''", not part of the ExecutiveMeddling.
* HeAlsoDid: Graeme Cornies, the singer of "I Wanna Be Famous" and a composer for ''Total Drama'' in general, also did vocal work on the soundtrack of ''VideoGame/MetalGearRisingRevengeance''; "Dark Skies" (action theme for the first two levels), "I'm My Own Master Now" (Bladewolf's theme), and "The War Still Rages Within" (the credits theme) were all sung by him.
* InspirationForTheWork: The concept for the series came about after a discussion between creators Jennifer Pertsch and Tom [=McGillis=] on how children were increasingly watching reality TV over animation at the time, leading the two to decide that an effort should be made to get kids interested in cartoons again by making a cartoon with all the most popular elements of reality TV.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes:
** While Australia has yet to release ''The Ridonculous Race'' on DVD, ''Total Drama Island (2007)'' remains the only season to be released on DVD in North America from Warner Bros Home Entertainment. And even then, it's the CN version with edited dialogue and the episodes cropped to 4:3 instead of their original 16:9 aspect ratio. It also lacks the reunion special "Total Drama, Drama, Drama, Drama Island", despite the back of the box claiming to have it, and instead has the "TD Rundown" recap short in its place. The series periodically shows up on Creator/{{Netflix}}, but certain seasons are sometimes cut from the show package.
** The European French dub of ''Pahkitew Island'' only has the first 3 episodes on [=YouTube=], none of the others are found.
* LateExportForYou: The Turkish dub of ''Total Drama Island (2007)'' was released in May 2015, roughly 8 years after it was released in Canada.
** While the Catalan dub initially ended after ''Revenge of the Island'' (which premiered in 2012), later seasons of ''Total Drama'' would be dubbed in Catalan in 2019, 4-6 years after their initial airdate, most likely as a result of ''WesternAnimation/TotalDramaRama'''s success.
*** ''All-Stars'' premiered in 2013, but its Catalan release was in 2019.
*** ''Pahkitew Island'' premiered in 2014, but its Catalan release was in 2019.
*** ''The Ridonculous Race'' premiered in 2015, but its Catalan release was in 2019.
* MilestoneCelebration: "Zeke and You Shall Find" the 100th episode in the series, not counting the specials. The main plot centered around [[{{Sadist}} Chris]] finally being on the receiving end of punishment, with Feral Zeke threatening to dump him in a pool of toxic waste.
* NoDubForYou: None of Total Drama's seasons were dubbed in Germany.
* NoExportForYou: While Britain aired the first two seasons on Disney XD, Cake Entertainment has never sold the rights to the ''Total Drama'' franchise to Japan.
* ProductionPosse: The vast majority of people who have worked on the series and its spinoffs had also previously collaborated on ''WesternAnimation/{{Sixteen}}'' and would later work together on Creator/FreshTV's next two shows ''WesternAnimation/{{Stoked}}'' and ''WesternAnimation/{{Grojband}}'' (the latter even being created by the director and character designer for ''Island'' and ''Action'').
* RealTimeTimeskip:
** ''All-Stars'' (which aired in 2013) took place one year after the events of ''Revenge of the Island'' (which aired in 2012). Chris lampshades this when he berates Chef for betraying him in the season 4 finale, and letting him get arrested for dumping toxic waste on the island. Alejandro even implied that the events of ''World Tour'' and ''Revenge of the Island'' took place in the same year, when he mentioned being in the robot suit for one year.
** ''Island (2023)'' takes place 15 years after ''Island (2007)'', which is not only stated by Chris himself, but Priya also mentions her parents being huge fans since the very first season and training her from birth (literally) to win the show in case there ever was a reboot.
* ScheduleSlip: ''Revenge of the Island'' was originally to air in 2011 as evidenced by its original teaser. However, the 2011 earthquake and subsequent nuclear disaster in Fukushima caused the production to be delayed to change and remove elements of the season that would've been seen as being in poor taste in light of the recent tragedy. According to Creator/ChristianPotenza (Chris), the season was originally set to air in July 2011, then September before ultimately having its English premiere delayed until January 5th, 2012. The season still had its world premiere in December 2011, but in France and in French only.
* ScrewedByTheNetwork: Between ''All Stars'' to ''The Ridonculous Race'', Cartoon Network promoted the series less and less. Reruns almost never ran unless there was a season currently airing, and when they did air, they'd usually be during school hours. Both ''Pahkitew Island'' and ''Ridonculous Race'' had their premiere schedules changed from weekly to every weekday, which meant there was hardly promotion and reruns for both seasons. Despite the fact that it was a hit on Cartoon Network, many fans thought the channel would no longer be producing any new content related to the series after the spin-off (which was billed as a ''Total Drama'' season in the U.S.) anytime soon, as the seven seasons had not reran between 2016 and 2017, likely due to the fact that ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitansGo'' reruns dominated the network. However, the series did return at some point in 2018 to promote the SpinOffBabies cartoon, but were taken off schedule again in 2019. It is currently unknown if the seven seasons[[note]](Pahkitew Island was season 6, while Ridonculous Race was billed as season 7 in the U.S.)[[/note]] will rerun again to promote the upcoming HBO Max reboot.
* ScullyBox: Cody is actually drawn a couple inches above the ground whenever Sierra uses MarshmallowHell, to make up for their [[TinyGuyHugeGirl height differences]].
* ShortRunInPeru:
** The first episode of ''World Tour'' premiered in its native Canada on Creator/{{Teletoon}} in June 2010 as a sneak peak, but Creator/CartoonNetwork in the US kept premiering new episodes weekly. Then came Creator/{{ABC3}} in Australia, who aired ''five'' new episodes a week. For comparison, Australia started 18 days later than Canada, and finished 8 days before Canada aired episode 2.
** USA got even further ahead of Canada (although not as bad as Australia) by having the Aftermath episodes online exclusive.
** ''Revenge of the Island'' had its world premiere in France, while ''Pahkitew Island'' was first shown in Italy. The USA was the first country to broadcast ''[[WesternAnimation/TotalDramaPresentsTheRidonculousRace The Ridonculous Race]]''.
** All seasons after ''Revenge of the Island'', as well as [[WesternAnimation/TotalDramaPresentsTheRidonculousRace both]] [[WesternAnimation/TotalDramaRama spinoffs]], debuted in the United States on Cartoon Network before they debuted in Canada, possibly due to the fact Teletoon became less and less involved with the ordering of new seasons as the series went on while CN started to take their place.
** The 2023 reboot was released in Italy in April 2023, while not having aired in Canada or America yet. However, it did have the English dub available at release, allowing English-speaking fans to follow along.
* ThrowItIn:
** Creator/KatieCrown improvises some of her lines as Izzy depending on the situation. This became especially common later in the series' run; Izzy's dialogue was entirely scripted in early episodes, but as production continued and the writers got a better feel for the actors' performances, [[HarpoDoesSomethingFunny more and more of Izzy's dialogue was left up to Katie Crown to ad-lib.]]
** In "Monster Cash", Owen was originally to tell everyone that he's fine after eating all the prop food. However, Creator/ScottMcCord improvised the line "Nope. Call 911." which the producers found so funny that they kept it in.
** Another example from Scott [=McCord=]. According to Noah's voice actor Creator/CarterHayden, during Team Chris is Really Really Really Really Hot's commercial in "Super Happy Crazy Fun Time In Japan", the script simply called for Owen to make "monster noises", but Scott [=McCord=] ad-libbed the performance to have Owen literally shout "[[ReadingTheStageDirectionsOutLoud Monster Noises]]!", which the producers found so hilariously in-character for Owen that they kept it that way.
** And another one: In "If You Can't Take The Heat...", Scott [=McCord=] improvised the line "Purple gerbil fish bag!" when Owen passes out after getting stung by a hive of bees.
* TrollingCreator: When the season directors of ''World Tour'' were asked in an FAQ about the ending of the season and how things ended with so many loose ends, their reply was, "What loose ends? Ha ha ha!"
* TroubledProduction: As mentioned above, ''Revenge of the Island'' had to be heavily reworked out of respect for the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster which ultimately delayed the season by at least half a year after its intended July 2011 premiere.
* UnfinishedDub: The Castilian Spanish dub of the show only aired ''Total Drama Island''. The Catalan dub, however, aired later seasons and would end at ''Revenge of the Island''.
* WordOfGod: In later years, Creator/FreshTV started revealing facts about characters or situations in the series that were never stated on-screen. Several of these tend to come across as an AuthorsSavingThrow in regards to addressing some of the more questionable aspects of the series:
** Trent's full first name is "Trenton", Samey's is "Samantha", and Max's is "Maximillian".
** Cody no longer has romantic feelings for Gwen following the end of ''World Tour''.
** Lightning's real name is Rudolph Jackson.
** The contestants who were inside the balloons in "The Final Wreck-ening" that floated away safely landed in the water after their balloons popped.
** The crew didn't create an audition tape for Shawn, he drinks large amounts of caffeine to stay awake and alert and like Ezekiel, and he's homeschooled.
** According to former community manager Julie G.: "Gwen comes from a single-parent family due to an unfortunate divorce. Rodney's mother was the victim of an unfortunate event involving a stampede of cattle, a water tower filled with molasses, and a civil war-era cannon that still had a surprising amount of functionality left in it." 184* WorkingTitle:
** ''World Tour'' started out as ''Total Drama: The Musical''.
** ''Revenge of the Island'' started out as ''Total Drama Comedy'', then ''Total Drama - Return to Wawanawka'' [[note]]The season was originally trademarked using this name[[/note]] and lastly ''Total Drama Reloaded''.
