* {{Blooper}}: In the ending, a book gets packaged so it can get mailed. However, the book briefly becomes unpackaged again before it disappears offscreen.
* TheDanza: Of a sort: Rob Townsend voices Captain ''Rob''ert Witterel.
* HeAlsoDid: Nikita Ordynskiy, the director of the film adaptation of ''VideoGame/PapersPlease'', another Lucas Pope game, also voices Russian seaman Aleksei Toporov in this game.
* TheOtherDarrin: If you go in chronological order, Leonid Volkov is voiced by Russian-speaker Vadim Proskryakov in Chapter II, before being voiced by English-speaker Brent Mukai for the rest of the game, starting with Chapter VI and ending with Chapter IX.
* RealLifeRelative: Since First Mate William Hoscut and Abigail Hoscut Witterel are siblings, it's pretty obvious that their voice actors, James and Debbie [=McCreadie=], are related to each other.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: The earlier versions of the game had different crew manifests with certain characters having their names be different than what was in the final game, and it also gave the residences of the English characters. For example, Captain Witterel was stated to have lived in Cornwall.
* WordOfGod:
** The Obra Dinn is modeled on the real-life HMS Leopard, though scaled down in size, weight, and crew number (the HMS Leopard had 350 men in its crew, not 51). It wasn't designed to be a perfect copy, but with many variations and styles, externally and internally, taken from other ships and ship-types of that era.
** The ship originally departed from London and added cargo in Falmouth. Therefore, the ship is really underway when the first death occurs. This bears up when putting the clues together, as the first picture the artist drew with everyone aboard was titled "Under Way", yet the first death happened while loading cargo, which would only happen if the cargo were loaded after the ship set sail.
