!! The franchise in general:

* FandomLifeCycle: Stage 0b --> 1 --> 2 --> 3 --> 4 --> 6b. The original ''Prince of Persia'' game was such a KillerApp way back in its time, with gamers knowing series creator Jordan Mechner's name. While the first batch of games had long gaps between them, it is during Ubisoft's ''Sands of Time'' saga when the series kicked into the 2000's mainstream, also becoming one of Ubisoft's most popular franchises. From 2003 - 2005, the saga released a new game each year. The games in the original ''Sands of Time'' trilogy also received various ports to other platforms in the succeeding years past 2005. Then on 2007, there came a {{remake}} under the title of ''Prince of Persia Classic'', and on 2008, there was a reboot. Then came the film adaptation and the game interquel titled ''The Forgotten Sands'' in the early 2010's. For several years, the franchise was part of the mainstream of games and adaptations. But unfortunately, there weren't any new major installments afterwards for the next decade, sending the franchise to hiatus and now treated as obscure by the newer generation of gamers. A few spin-offs and ports are still made after 2010, but they didn't make it to the mainstream as much as the other titles of the franchise did before.
* TheOtherDarrin:
** In ''The Sands of Time'', the Prince is voiced by Creator/YuriLowenthal. In ''Warrior Within'', he's voiced by Creator/RobinAtkinDownes. In ''The Two Thrones'', he's again voiced by Lowenthal, with Canadian actor Rick Miller providing his inner "Dark Prince" voice. There was talk during development that Downes would voice the Dark Prince, but ultimately that didn't come to pass. Also in his brief {{Foreshadowing}} appearance in the second game the Dark Prince is played by Michael Rudder.
** Played straight with Kaileena (modeled after Creator/MonicaBellucci and voiced by both her and sound-alike actress Alicyn Packard in ''Warrior Within'' and Sarah Carlsen in ''The Two Thrones'') and Farah (Joanna Wasick in ''The Sands of Time'' and Hellen King in ''The Two Thrones'').
* {{Vaporware}}: On 2012, there was an uploaded [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHbRCd8yzaw gameplay video]] of ''Prince of Persia: Redemption'', but that video was only found out or noticed by the public on 2020. A [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHbRCd8yzaw&lc=Ugx-nanju3pis7MbgyJ4AaABAg comment on the same video]] by Ubisoft's Marc-Andre Belleau on 2018 even asked "Where did you get that?", which made the public later believe that the game is being developed in secret. It was then revealed that the video was a pre-rendered mockup used to pitch the game (as [[https://twitter.com/GameAnim/status/1258056884088520705 tweeted by Jonathan Cooper]], a former Ubisoft animator), but development never actually progressed beyond that point.
