* ActingForTwo: Subverted in J.A.K.Q. vs. Goranger. Even though Creator/HiroshiMiyauchi played Akira Shinmei in Goranger as well as Sokichi Bamba/Big One, Akira Shinmei never appears in his civilian form (none of the Gorangers do, except for Peggy) and Ao Ranger's interactions with Big One are limited.
* Cancellation: Why the show didn't even last a full year.
* RomanceOnTheSet: Yoshitaka Tamba (Gorō Sakurai) and Mitchy Love (Karen Mizuki) dated each other as their characters became romantically involved towards the end of the series. However, their relationship did not last after the series ended.
* ScrewedByTheNetwork: Inverted, contrary to popular belief. After Goranger ended, TV Ashi asked for another series from Toei and Ishinomori, who decided to go in a DarkerAndEdgier direction to distinguish it from its predecessor. Unfortunately, they made it too dark, alienating its child audience with its level of violence. Ratings dropped and never recovered, even after the LighterAndSofter retool.
* SequelFirst: For some reason this aired in the Philippines first before Gorenger did under the name The Lucky Aces.
* ShowAccuracyToyAccuracy: Popy's Vinyl Figures of the J.A.K.Q. quartet have some differences color-wise with all four, not just Spade Ace, having their helmet match their dominant color. As a result, Dia Jack mirrors Spade Ace by having a blue helmet with a red visor, Heart Queen has a pink helmet whilst retaining her red visor, and Clover King has a green helmet but with a blue visor like Ace. The difference is made all the more obvious by the packaging having images of their on-screen versions.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen
** Originally, the colors of Spade Ace and Dia Jack were switched - the former would've been the blue ranger, and the latter would've been the red. There is a clear logic in the original line-up in that J preceeds A in the team name and, indeed, that is the order in which the four-man team typically poses.
** Yoshitaka Tanba was originally offered the role of Akarenger, but he refused as he felt uncomfortable about striking poses in public, and his lack of a motorcycle license. The producers eventually convinced him to play Spade Ace, as he does not need to pose out of suit, and the character would be driving a car instead of a bike.
** To combat the declining ratings, one idea for a complete overhaul involved introducing a being known as "Empirian", a man from the future who controlled CRIME behind the scenes who was pursued by another future man named "Page One" which would join the team, taking them along in a time machine to smash the evil conspiracy. The concept was not quite used due to difference of opinions on the current direction of the world; Page One became Big One, Empirian became Shine, and the TimeTravel aspect was dropped altogether.
* YouLookFamiliar: Sokichi Bamba/Big One is portrayed by Creator/HiroshiMiyauchi, who previously played Akira Shimei/[=GoBlue=] in Series/HimitsuSentaiGorenger.
