* BreakthroughHit: The comic was the first work by Creator/RickGriffin to gain a large following.
* ReferencedBy: ''Webcomic/TheWhiteboard'':
** The 2012 [[HalloweenEpisode Halloween storyline]] has [[http://www.the-whiteboard.com/autotwb1581.html Snowshoe and Tawny dressed up as Peanut Butter and Grape, respectively.]]
** In [[http://www.the-whiteboard.com/autotwb1879.html this strip]] Peanut is in the lineup of customers waiting to play {{Paintball|Episode}}, second from the right in the first panel.
** Fox shows up at Howie's bar in this [[http://www.the-whiteboard.com/autotwb2142.html strip]].
* SeriesHiatus: On June 2, 2021, the author [[https://www.housepetscomic.com/comic/2021/06/02/ive-done-everything-else-as-a-webcartoonist-now-get-ready-for-the-hiatus-notice/ announced the first hiatus ever in the webcomic]] to explore a change in his working approach to the strip, promising he would return soon. After a series of comics by guest authors, he did indeed resume the strip on September 24, 2021 [[https://www.housepetscomic.com/comic/2021/09/24/the-form-of-your-destructor/ here]].
* SimilarlyNamedWorks: InUniverse example, at least in part. The fictional best-selling epic book saga ''Pridelands'', created by Miss Auburn ([[spoiler: Res, actually]]), which even got some film adaptations, appears in this webcomic. But in RealLife, there's a not very famous series of books written by Jade Buchanan also named ''Pridelands''. While the description of ''Pridelands'' from ''Housepets!'' sounds like a mix of ''WesternAnimation/TheLionKing1994'' and ''Literature/ASongOfIceAndFire'', Buchanan's ''Pridelands'', while also depicting anthropomorphic lions, seems more focused on erotic and homoerotic romance.
%% * TeasingCreator: The last panel of [[http://www.housepetscomic.com/comic/2019/05/29/barking-up-the-wrong-tree/ this strip.]] [[note]]Fox's best friend is a victim of a ForcedTransformation.[[/note]]
%% * WriteWhoYouKnow: Karishad, the name of a fox character, is the webcomic author's best friend.
!! Miscellaneous
* ''Housepets!'' won the Ursa Major Award for Best Anthropomorphic Comic Strip from 2010 through 2017 inclusive (eight years in a row!), but the streak was broken in 2018, when the comic didn't even get nominated. [[HesBack It would win again in 2019 and 2020]].
