* ActingForTwo:
** [[Creator/JimCummings1952 Jim Cummings]] voices both Mr. Bumpy and Destructo. He also voices the narrator in "Night of the Living Bread", who even talks to Mr. Bumpy at one point.
** Little Robot and her sister introduced in "Made in Japan II" were both voiced by Creator/JaniceKawaye.
* AdoredByTheNetwork: YTV in Canada loved playing the show's Christmas special, continuing to play it with the rest of their holiday programming long after the series was gone from the channel.
* CrossDressingVoices: Doris D. Bird from "Twas the Night Before Bumpy" is voiced by [[Creator/JimCummings1952 Jim Cummings]].
* IWantYouToMeetAnOldFriendOfMine: The episode "Love Stinks" has Gilbert Gottfried as Odiferous J. Stench, a stinkbug who falls for Molly Coddle (voiced by Gail Matthius). Gottfried and Matthius were cast members on ''Saturday Night Live'' during its notoriously awful sixth season (1980-1981).
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: Zig-zagged over time. The rights to the series wound up with Cookie Jar Entertainment (presumably through their acquisition of [=DiC=], who presumably got the rights to the series through being owned by Disney for a brief time). Shout! Factory eventually released a complete DVD set in 2010, but it was out of print by 2012. The series was later reissued on disc in 2016 by Mill Creek Entertainment.
* RealLifeRelative: The Boy and his Little Sister were played by real life siblings Scott and his big sister Anndi [=McAfee=].
* ScrewedByTheNetwork: This show had the misfortune of being among the shows that got canceled after Creator/{{Disney}}'s acquisition of ABC.
* TroubledProduction: In reviewing the show's Christmas episode, ''Blog/TheIslandOfMisfitChristmasSpecials'' noted that the second season was more rushed than the first. Since stop-motion is notoriously time-consuming, it took one day to finish up ''five seconds'' of footage. They did use shortcuts to get the show done faster, most notably the Karaoke Cafe segments which always used footage from other episodes. Danger Productions didn't count on ABC to renew the show for 13 more episodes plus the aforementioned triple-length Christmas episode... in a shorter amount of time. So they reused all of the previous season's Karaoke Cafe segments, and in some cases they reused entire shorts followed by "sequels" to said shorts. They had to put extra effort into the Christmas episode, which was a whopping 90 minutes long with commercials. Despite all this, the show still looks technically flawless over three decades after it was made.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: A storyboard reveals that an early draft of the series was intended to have the family cat as an antagonist who would threaten Bumpy and his friends. He was most likely replaced by the closet monster.
** Squishington was originally brown but was changed to blue to avoid audience thinking he was made of poop.
** A third season was planned before the show got canceled after Creator/{{Disney}} bought out ABC.
** Multiple songs for the Karaoke Cafe were created, in that they were sung by the voice actors and recorded, but never placed against a visual backdrop, resulting instead in the second season repeating several songs from the first. These songs can be heard on the rare "Complete Series Collection" [=DVDs=].
