1	!Trivia about the game:
2	* ColbertBump: Got one from ''WebVideo/GameGrumps'', the EnsembleDarkhorse Buddy "Mike Aruba" being a selling point.
3	* PortOverdosed: There hasn't been a single opportunity missed to re-release this game. It's been on at least 15 platforms despite coming out after most home computers had become irrelevant. The reason for so many ports is the actual codebase is tiny and just a virtual machine that runs bytecode it loads from the scripts. Ports just need to rewrite and recompile this virtual machine.
4	* WhatCouldHaveBeen
5	** According to some interviews, Eric did like the idea of a sequel to ''Another World'' to [[POVSequel retell the game from the alien Buddy's perspective.]] Remnants of this idea is contained in a flashback intro sequence to ''Heart of the Alien'' instead. Furthermore, Chahi was not able to get more involved due to already working on the constantly delayed ''VideoGame/HeartOfDarkness''.
6	** There was supposed to be an absolute ending, involving Lester becoming a leader of an alien tribe.
7	** The 3DO version of the game contained a new cutscene, which served as a SequelHook. Strangely, it never came out on the 3DO, instead ending up on its competitor: the Sega CD, under the title ''Heart of the Alien''.
8	* WordOfGod: Eric Chahi did not have anything to do with the sequel Heart of the Alien other than allowing it to be made. In the guide book for the first game, Chahi has his own ideas of what happened to Lester and Buddy after the game's end that contradict the sequel. [[spoiler:Namely, Lester does not die, but instead eventually becomes the leader of Buddy's people and spends the rest of his life in the other dimension.]]

13	** The character of Ada Hobson was killed off on the show after Constance Ford died in 1993.
14	* FollowTheLeader: The updated intro from 1996 (before the cast culling) looks suspiciously like the title sequence of ''{{Series/ER}}''. So does any scene set in the hospital. And any "police station" scene is clearly mimicking ''Series/NYPDBlue''.

20	* RealLifeWritesThePlot: Judi Evans' struggle to lose her post-partum weight was turned into a storyline for her character Paulina. Evans stated that most of her dialogue were things she had said in RealLife.
21	* ScrewedByTheNetwork: When Creator/{{NBC}} ordered the soap ''Series/{{Passions}}'' (which it produced) to series in 1999, it needed to cancel one of its existing soaps to make room on the schedule. Though no longer the ratings powerhouse that it was in the 1970s, the show still earned higher ratings than ''Series/SunsetBeach'', which debuted only two years earlier and was the lowest-rated of the 11 network soaps on the air at the time (whereas ''AW'' had been rating in ninth place for the past few years). However, a slight uptick in the ratings and the younger demographics of ''Sunset Beach'' (on top of NBC executives [[ExecutiveMeddling wanting its soaps to appeal to younger audiences]]) caused Creator/{{NBC}} to cancel ''Another World'' in April 1999, with series ending in June of that year.[[note]]Possibly not helping matters ratings-wise was San Francisco affiliate KRON-TV (which disaffiliated from NBC in 2001 due a dispute between the network and then-owner Young Broadcasting, after the latter outbid NBC to buy the station) dropping the serial in July 1998 to air the syndicated ''Creator/HowieMandel Show'' (which lasted only one season) in its timeslot; ''AW'' was picked up by independent station KICU, which received virtually no promotional assistance from KRON to direct fans to watch the show on its new home.[[/note]] The increase in ratings for ''Sunset Beach'' would prove not to be permanent, and the show as cancelled six months later.
