Go To

TheBigGuy in WesternAnimation.
----
%%* Jake from WesternAnimation/AdventureTime.
* WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfTheGalaxyRangers: Shane Gooseman, the SuperSoldier. He towers over the other three (and, at 19, is probably not finished growing, either!), and can easily take the most damage. Definitely a Class 3, as he comments in "One Million Emotions" that his kind can only get "angry and mad," but was seen in "Supertroopers" being the only one of his kind that questioned his role as a SuperSoldier.
** Another Galaxy Rangers example: Buzzwang. While he may not be programmed for combat, it is possible that he, being a robot, is stronger then the average human.
%%* Binky Barnes from WesternAnimation/Arthur is a Class 3.
* WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender: Toph Beifong is a CuteBruiser variety. Her first episode had her taking on five skilled earthbenders and taking them all out sequentially. Her DisabilitySuperpower certainly helps in that regard; her opponents underestimate her and she kicks up a cloud of dust that doesn't affect the way she "sees."
** Her original design was a large, muscly man- this is one of many Lampshades hung in "The Ember Island Players," where her part in a play is inexplicably filled by a burly, muscled man. (Toph is delighted.)
** In the first half of SequelSeries WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra, Asami Sato fills this role. A cunning BadassNormal martial artist who packs a taser glove, she's somewhere between a type 2 and a type 5; although willowy (and decidedly more femme than Korra), she's the second tallest of the central cast. Conversely, barrel-chested earthbender Keet Bolin—whose character design is based off of the original concept for Toph, and who looks more like he'd fit the role—is actually TheHeart. Later seasons swap the dynamic: Bolin TakesALevelInBadass by , which gives him massive AOE attacks, emphasizing his raw power and making him the groups hardest hitter. Meanwhile, Asami's role becomes more focused on her being Korra's confidante and emotional support .
%%* Rhinox of WesternAnimation/BeastWars is the very definition of Class 5.
* Among Ben's alien forms in WesternAnimation/Ben10 include several who fulfil this role as the solid muscles who generally take the role of direct physical fighting. Four Arms, Rath, and Humungousaur in particular as the aliens that Ben uses when the problem does not need elemental powers, finesse, or specialized attributes. They also are among the most used aliens in the series because Ben happens to like solving problems that way.
* WesternAnimation/BigGuyAndRustyTheBoyRobot: A rather obvious example is the titular Big Guy plays this role on the team dynamic. It's literally right in the name.
* WesternAnimation/BionicSix's: The GeniusBruiser, J.D., is not only strong, but may be taller then the rest of the family.
* WesternAnimation/BooBoomTheLongWayHome: Being a horse, Boldsteed is easily the biggest and strongest member of the group. He frequently carries all his teammates at once, and is the most useful in a fight. He is however of the GentleGiant varity, frequently acting as the voice of reason in the group.
* WesternAnimation/BuzzLightyearOfStarCommand: Booster is this for Team Lightyear, and often clubs large enemy robots...with other large enemy robots.
* WesternAnimation/CaptainSimianAndTheSpaceMonkeys: Gor-illa fulfills Class 2 and 5. Due to events in the origin story, Gor-illa is a very intelligent, pacifist gorilla who goes into OneWingedAngel mode when angered into a berserker rage.
* WesternAnimation/Castlevania: Trevor Belmont is a Class 5 Big Guy for PowerTrio being the most combat inclined as a VampireHunter. It’s especially evident in the second season when Alucard and Sypha like a couple of nerds have to hit the books and magically trap Dracula’s castle all while Trevor goes OneManArmy on the TheLegionsOfHell to defend them while they work because combat is his specialty. Though Trevor can overlap with TheLeader with all the orders he gives.
* WesternAnimation/CodenameKidsNextDoor: Numbuh Four is the rare CuteBruiser and DumbMuscle type, who has a random chance of being afflicted with TheWorfEffect.
* WesternAnimation/COPSAnimatedSeries: Sgt. Mace, probably for his usage of heavy weapons.
* WesternAnimation/DuckTales1987 / WesternAnimation/DarkwingDuck: Launchpad is a GeniusDitz who is the tallest and strongest of the group.
* WesternAnimation/DungeonsAndDragons1983: Diana the Acrobat, Being the most athletic of the heroes.
** Bobby would also fit as the CuteBruiser.
* WesternAnimation/ExoSquad: Wolf Bronski and Marsala embody two different styles of the trope. Bronski is the team's BoisterousBruiser, wielding a ground-support E-frame with powerful weapons and being the show's main source of levity. Marsala is the team's GeniusBruiser, a Neosapien working for Exofleet and the most physically imposing of Able Squad, but prefers using more strategic approaches and subversion to undermine Phaeton's regime.
* WesternAnimation/Futurama: When muscle or a degree of inhuman dexterity is required, Bender can be counted as a Class 5 GeniusBruiser, although he's more cunning than clever. If the problem is just with too many BadassNormal mooks, then Leela will go berserker and kick their butts with her ninja skills.
* WesternAnimation/Gargoyles: While Goliath has the physique normally associated with the character, this is Broadway's function. He might be a little on the chubby side, but he's no less strong or (as one unfortunate s found out when his gun was effortlessly crushed like a soda can) fearsome in a confrontation.
* WesternAnimation/GravityFalls: Wendy normally looks like a laid-back teen girl that happens to be YoungerThanTheyLook due to "freak lumberjack genes" leading to an early growth spurt. Those same freak lumberjack genes also give her the power to snap a huge ex-con's arm like a twig and make her very handy with an axe.
* WesternAnimation/Grojband: Kon Kujira, the band's BigFun drummer who is also the strongest and least intelligent (although he's more of a GeniusDitz than a FatIdiot) member of the group. In contrast, his twin brother Kin is TheSmartGuy of the band.
* WesternAnimation/JackieChanAdventures: Tohru starts as the Brute for the Dark Hand in Season 1, before he makes a HeelFaceTurn and becomes a type 2 for the Chan family. Mixes in type 4 once he becomes Uncle's apprentice and starts learning chi magic.
* WesternAnimation/JadeArmor: Once he regains his body, the Crimson Lord is the tallest and most muscular character in the show.
* WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague: Hawkgirl. Ironic in that she's physically the smallest member of the league.
** Split between Hawkgirl and Superman (plus the Martian Manhunter when the writers remember that he can do more than just phase).
* WesternAnimation/KaBlam: June. Not in terms of size, but she's definitely the toughest character.
* WesternAnimation/KidCosmic: Rosa is the toughest and strongest member of the team, owing to the powers that her Cosmic Stone brings her. It's a bit of an unusual example, because she's a 4-year-old.
* WesternAnimation/KingArthurAndTheKnightsOfJustice: An interesting example, because it starred a team of football players temporarily taking the place of the Knights of the Round Table, it was unique in having about five big guys (Lineman) who were essentially interchangeable from one story to the next.
* WesternAnimation/Metalocalypse: Nathan Explosion is a Class 3 if there ever was one- his growling voice, immense size, and general reputation of brutality hides the fact that, at heart, he's something of a marshmallow. Who loves kitties. And his father. And Disneyland.
* WesternAnimation/MightyDucksTheAnimatedSeries:: Grin--a massive musclebound giant who fights with his bare hands, but also an ardent follower of Zen philosophy, who never uses more force than needed.
* Armon of WesternAnimation/MummiesAlive is the biggest and strongest of the titular mummies. A GentleGiant with his armor being based on a ram and a master of hand-to-hand combat, he is the brawn to Rath's brains and lets his artificial right fist do the talking during a battle (which is generated when he is armored up, hence his name), not to mention he loves to eat.
* WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic: Rainbow Dash. She's as strong as Applejack, very athletic, and far quicker to request a direct, physical solution than any other team member. She also happens to be pretty dense and, to top it off, she's the Spirit of the Element of Loyalty.
* WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse: Willow Park. Physically, she's both the most heavy-set and the strongest out of all of her friends, and her magic is rivaled only by Amity's in terms of raw strength. She's even shown to be able to physically restrain in "King's Tide".
* WesternAnimation/ThePenguinsOfMadagascar: Rico is their BigGuy of a perfect Class 1 - he's even got the scar.
* WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb: Buford. He'd probably like to be regarded as TheBrute, but he's actually too nice for that.
** He's also actually pretty smart, though unlike the rest of the main characters who are engineering wiz-kids, he just has a lot of knowledge about random things, so comparatively he's hardly a genius.
* WesternAnimation/ThePowerPuffGirls: Buttercup is the CuteBruiser BloodKnight type. Mess with her sisters, or the Professor, though, you're in trouble.
* WesternAnimation/ReadyJetGo: Jet is the tallest of all the children, and occasionally slips into BadassAdorable territory.
%%* Matrix of WesternAnimation/ReBoot.
* WesternAnimation/RoswellConspiraciesAliensMythsAndLegends: The Yeti Ti-Yet. Easily the largest of the main characters and only the golem seems to actually be larger.
* WesternAnimation/SilverHawks: The male half of the Steel Twins, William "Steelwill" Hart, is a good example.
* WesternAnimation/SkysurferStrikeForce: Air Enforcer, being the biggest, strongest member with the most weapons.
* WesternAnimation/SuperNoobs: Memnock and Zenblock are the only two alien members of the Super Noobs team that consists of six members and both of them fit the role of the big guys due to their size. Zenblock is mainly a class 1 with some elements of class 2. Memnock is definitely a class 2.
%% * WesternAnimation/SonicTheHedgehogSatAM: Bunnie is a female example by virtue of her being a HollywoodCyborg and her girliness being outweighed by Antoine's qualifications as a DistressedDude.
* WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants:
** Sandy, who is the strongest citizen of Bikini Bottom, though this is downplayed in newer episodes in favor of her intelligence.
** When Sandy isn't playing this role, Patrick is the other character most likely to do any physical work the plot requires.
* WesternAnimation/TeenTitans2003:
** Cyborg is a former athlete and the most obviously muscular of the group.
** Beast Boy can transform into an array of large and powerful animals. While his jokes are groan-worthy, he's a general nice guy.
** Starfire’s Tamaranean physiology gives her increased physical strength (plus her warrior instincts are strong). She's basically the ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend CuteBruiser type.
** Raven might be Robin's Lancer, but is TheBigGuy in that her powers are MUCH more brutal, and piss her off enough by messing around her friends -- you are screwed (at this point, it might be easier to describe Robin as the only Small Guy on the team).
** As his name implies, Mammoth fills this role for the H.I.V.E. Five, being able to rupture the ground and cause tremors just by striking it.
* WesternAnimation/TheTick: An example of a Big Guy who's also TheHero.
* WesternAnimation/ThomasAndFriends: Gordon. He is the largest and strongest engine on Sodor after all.
* WesternAnimation/ThundarrTheBarbarian: Ookla the Mokk as an Expy to Chewbacca.
* WesternAnimation/ThunderCats / WesternAnimation/ThunderCats2011: Panthro. Definitely a Class 5, as he has the most pronounced skill in technology of all of them. He's built like a tank...and built the damn tank! In the 2011 version, he also doubles as a highly intimidating type 1, a gruff OldSoldier who's CoveredWithScars and unwilling to accept the young Lion-O as his leader and liege until the boy proves his worth in battle.
* WesternAnimation/TimeSquad: Buck Tuddrussel punches first and asks questions later. Could even be categorized at some points as DumbMuscle.
* WesternAnimation/TotalDrama: DJ is the big guy of the first three seasons. He is of the Class 2 variety due to his love of animals, sensitive personality, and his interests. Owen was also the big guy whenever he was on the opposite team to DJ (like in Island), but was more of a Class 3 type, given his excitable and enthusiastic character.
* WesternAnimation/TransformersAnimated: Bulkhead is a Class 2 and 5. He's got the clumsiness and the slightly oafish voice, but is a GentleGiant as well as quite intelligent, especially in battle (like how he countered Lugnut's RocketPunch). He's even revealed to be an expert in space-bridge technology, firmly putting him in GeniusBruiser territory.
** The WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime team has their own Bulkhead. He's a veteran soldier with some "dirty work" in his history, but still has a gentle side.
** In the original Transformers, Ironhide fits this quite well for a group much larger than 5, although there's certainly a group that's considered more central than others. Also a good example of this trope from the original would be Brawn, who despite actually being SMALLER than most of the Autobots, otherwise fits this trope extremely well.
** Autobot gestalts, such as Superion, typically fall into this role by default.
* WesternAnimation/TheVentureBros:
** Brock Samson is a Class 3. He's got a hard exterior, but he genuinely cares for Hank and Dean.
** Kano from the "original" Team Venture.
* WesternAnimation/XiaolinShowdown: Clay is a GentleGiant from Texas who's polite, even-temepered, every inch the Southern gentleman...just don't mess with his friends...or his hat. Then he'll quickly demonstrate to you why he's the Dragon of Earth...unless you're a lady, but he usually finds a workaround for that.
* WesternAnimation/ZakStorm: Crogar is easily the tallest and bulkiest member of the 7C's. In fact, despite being only 15, he is taller and bulkier than most characters in the show, adults included.
