!!Main Let's Plays

* ''VideoGame/MOTHER3'': The sad moments in ''MOTHER 3'' are sad enough, but now you've got a ''lack'' of Chugga speaking in comic relief, and even adding sadness of his own. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yt1-9X5roKc This]] is probably the best example in the entire LP. Go to 6:14 of that episode. You don't even need to watch the rest of the episode for it to hit you hard...*sniff*
* ''VideoGame/{{Pikmin 2}}'': His story of a Bulbmin's life, which doubles as NightmareFuel.
* ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask'':
** When he talks about how he ''[[CreatorBreakdown really]]'' felt during the ''VideoGame/SuperMarioSunshine'' LP, it was a little upsetting. And remember those hilarious moments in his ''Sunshine'' LP? Like the trouble he had with the watermelons, or the really annoying level that he completed right before losing his save data from a power failure, or the ''huge'' annoyance the final level's blue coins were? Not so funny when you consider he was the one ''playing'' during that, in addition to the problems he was already having. Somewhat surprising he didn't have a HeroicBSOD by the time it was over. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45dU3omG0OU&t=5m57s For the curious]].
** Chugga has links to the alternate scenes in ''Majora's Mask'' that play when you fail something. Throughout the alternate scenes, he's completely silent, and the description of the video is almost never more than the affected person/thing's name, followed by an ellipsis.
---> Romani...
---> Cremia...
---> Kafei...
---> [[CompanionCube Sun's Mask...]]
* ''VideoGame/PokemonEmerald'': A RunningGag throughout this Let's Play involves Chugga mimicking [[VocalDissonance Maxie's dub voice]] from ''Anime/PokemonTheSeries'' whenever he talks in the game. However, in episode 41, during Chugga's battle alongside Steven Stone against Maxie and Tabitha, he recalls how he used to think Maxie was a cool villain, citing his design and ability to be an intimidating villain by ''{{Franchise/Pokemon}}'' standards, before his ridiculous voice in the anime meant he could no longer take his game counterpart seriously. It's not the saddest example on this page as he clearly has a lot of fun mimicking the "Brooklyn version of ''WesternAnimation/InspectorGadget''" voice, but for those who have had their opinions of characters that they once liked unfairly tarnished, it can be quite sad.
* ''VideoGame/SuperPaperMario'':
** During the scene where Luvbi turns into a Pure Heart, which is already enough of a TearJerker, Chugga stays completely silent, not even reading the text out loud. Then, once the scene ends and he gets the Pure Heart, he doesn't even yell "YOU GOT A PURE HEART! END OF CHAPTER!" like he always does. He just stays silent, quietly reads the text at the very end, and then ends the video there without even any closing words.
** Happens again in chapter 8 with the [[DisneyDeath presumed deaths]] of Bowser, Peach, and Luigi. And made even worse, perhaps; after the "END OF CHAPTER" text, the picture over the ending sequence is [[InMemoriam whichever hero just presumably died]].
* ''VideoGame/{{Okamiden}}'':
** In episode 52, he stays very quiet as we watch the last moments of the Gorreo. Then, the picture at the end of the video is the interior of the Gorreo, [[DoomedByCanon which then morphs into the Ghost Ship.]]
** The ending of episode 65 is arguably even worse, as an adorable picture of Chibi licking Kuni's face morphs into Akuro superimposed over the latter's face.
* ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaLinksAwakening'': In the finale, he talks about how meaningful the game, especially the ending, is to him, as someone who suffers from nightmares rather often. After that, he viewed the ending for the first time and it made him love the game even more.
* ''VideoGame/KidIcarusUprising'':
** He stays completely silent during the ending of [[WhamEpisode Chapter 21]] of ''VideoGame/KidIcarusUprising''. Even the ending is total silence.
** The other WhamEpisode, Chapter 18. It ends with the sad part of the flight music from that chapter. A translucent image of Palutena is slowly fading in, and she repeats her (or rather, the Chaos Kin's) quote, “Everyone changes, Pit. Even gods.”
* ''VideoGame/PokemonXDGaleOfDarkness'': His [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=YNL-suIE7yI#t=138 reason]] for naming his Jolteon Voltaire, after a friend from when he was a teenager.
* ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles1'':
** Staying with the tradition of staying silent after major events, Chugga is completely silent after Fiora's death, even after a new mechanic that he would normally explain is introduced involving the Face Mechon. The ending shot is also Fiora fading out to represent their death.
** His entire absence between the Metal Face battle and the aftermath of said battle. Many people spent countless hours watching his old vids and wishing him to come back. When he returned a few days ago, he spent the middle part of Xenoblade episode 41 talking about how he found the strength to come back. The real tearjerker is when he acknowledges the two people who helped him return to Let's Playing: fellow LetsPlay/TheRunawayGuys member LetsPlay/ProtonJon and LetsPlay/MasaeAnela.
* ''VideoGame/PokemonPlatinum'':
** Chugga’s story about what happened to a friend of his while they were climbing on Mt. Coronet. Basically, the friend encountered a Shiny Graveler which used Self-Destruct on the first turn. And his very next encounter was yet another Shiny Graveler, which did ''the exact same thing''. Although this is a very funny moment since it’s “the best-worst luck”, imagine if those two are the only Shiny his friend has ever found in their life, and just like that they're gone before he could do anything, especially since more and more people on the internet are happening to find shiny Pokémon while playing the game in their underwear without even trying to hunt for them. On top of that, losing the chance to capture a Shiny Pokémon with something like that happening is one of the most devastating moments that could happen to anyone, let alone ''twice''.
** He encounters a trainer who said he brought his Pokémon to work. Emile then tells a story that he brought a Pokémon game to work once and played it on his break, his boss saw him, asked what he was doing and upon seeing Emile had over 100 hours clocked into a Pokémon game, his boss said Emile "had no life and was such a tool."
** [[https://youtu.be/l74SP5oXIw0?t=773 Chuggaa's speech]] when catching his [[VideoGame/PokemonEmerald Hoenn]] team in the Pal Park. It got heart-shattering when he recaught Teddy, his Slaking. You can ''hear'' his voice catch when he throws the Park Ball and the screen displays "Teddy, come back!".
** Near the end of the final episode, [[https://youtu.be/CBHejWb-R4k?t=28m8s Chugga reveals]] he was ridiculed and '''beaten up''' in high school because he enjoyed ''Pokémon'' before ''Diamond and Pearl'' was released.
* ''VideoGame/MarioAndLuigiPartnersInTime'': Revealing in this [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkcl7nQObz0&t=2m55s episode]] that in his childhood, when his family wasn't financially strong, he was given a wallet for his own money... because his parents wanted to know where his money was when they were in a pinch, with Emile not catching on and his parents feeling terrible for having to take their child's allowance.
* ''VideoGame/PokemonBlackAndWhite'': When challenging Alder, it becomes an incredibly close battle with Haywire being the last one out. [[HopeSpot It looks as though, after all this time of Haywire having to sit out important battles, contributing little to normal fights, and generally having all-around less-than-stellar performances, this would have been it]]: Haywire has Overheat, the last Pokémon is Vanilluxe, and it looks as though everything is going to come through...[[YankTheDogsChain but Vanilluxe survives the last attack and takes out Haywire with Blizzard]]. At the end of the fight, all Chugga can do is just sadly congratulate Alder, with the outro not even being loud and upbeat like it normally is. It just ''feels'' like [[Anime/PokemonTheSeries an episode where Ash loses a Pokémon League]]. All that can be said is: [[IronWoobie poor Haywire...]]
* ''VideoGame/{{EarthBound|1994}}'' (Redone):
** In [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbcNbbp2NxU Episode 16]], he compares Dr. Andonuts' somewhat dismissive treatment of Jeff to his own rocky relationship with his father. Having grown up with a man who prioritized "other things" over his family (he implies in his 50 Facts video that those "other things" were drugs), he sympathizes with Jeff and appreciates the game for including such a personal theme into the story.
** In Episode 45, upon arriving at the crashed helicopter that Pokey was piloting, Chugga recounts the story of a childhood bully of his that was part of a mutual group of friends and randomly started hating him one day, but in the 9th grade, he abruptly died. Chugga laments that he wishes he treated the guy better, and that he thinks that the event shaped him as a person, even saying that Pokey reminds him of the bully in a way.
* ''VideoGame/ChronoTrigger'':
** In Episode 1, Chugga talks to some [=NPCs=] that say "I hate my dad more than anyone in the whole world." and "Dad loves money more than he loves me." All Chugga can say is "Me too."
** Episode 8 ends with him not doing his usual outro, as the episode abruptly fades to the endcard after the end of the cutscene with the bleak yet very slim chance of the Arris Dome inhabitants of surviving on just one seed. Whats even worse is that the last line before said abrupt 'fade to endcard' was the little girl saying "Why's Daddy taking so long?" She doesn't know that her father died trying to find food, however...
** Despite his raging, Chugga ends his postgame Lost Sanctum videos on a surprisingly sombre note. He calls it a rare instance of new content ruining a game, and says, in a sad tone:
--->'''Chugga:''' If you played the Lost Sanctum, and had a not-positive opinion of ''Chrono Trigger'' after the fact... I wouldn't blame you.
* ''VideoGame/SuperMarioGalaxy2:''
** When playing through Starshine Galaxy (a galaxy based on ''VideoGame/SuperMarioSunshine''), Emile reminisces on a fond memory associated with the level. When he first played through the game, he called his legally-blind friend, who was unable to play the game since they couldn't play it up close, and allowed them to experience it alongside him via Skype. When they reached Starshine, they were both ''overwhelmed'' with joy and nostalgia; he recalls it being one of the happiest moments he's ever had with that particular friend. Sadly, the two decided to mutually end their friendship and parted ways soon after. A year later, Emile went on Twitter to check up on his old pal, hoping to establish a reconnection; to his shock, he discovered that the friend had constantly badmouthed him on the site, pushing Emile to finally move on from them. He then ends his story by saying that, despite their relationship ending on a sour note, he'll ''always'' cherish that one happy moment they had at Starshine Galaxy.
--->'''Emile:''' Even if you're not friends with somebody anymore, even if things aren't good between you anymore, even if you've grown apart...it doesn't mean you can't still cherish the good times that you had together.
** The very last episode ends with a heartwarming, but still overall tear-jerking dedication to his pet rabbit Pippy, who sadly passed away suddenly during the production of his Galaxy 2 LP. Pippy's memorial dedication is also accompanied by the somber-ly sweet remix of Rosalina's theme that is played during the post-credits scene of the game.
---> "For our Star Bunny who roams the cosmos."
* ''[[VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeonRescueTeam Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX]]''
** Just like the games, Willow and Chamomile get attacked by everyone and have to run away. What makes it more tear jerking than it already is is the end card.
--->Wait for us...
** [[https://youtu.be/IQXL9hNV6yA?t=3738 The end card]] of the final non-bonus episode. Willow closes the storybook that's been used as a FramingDevice for the entire LP, with her discarded scarf on the floor next to it. After everything her and Chamomile have experienced, their journey is over.
** In the [[https://youtu.be/YhiF5paBVkIt=25m43s bonus video]], Chugga talks about how he owned a 5 foot tall store display for the game, and how much he loved it. '''He had to throw it away''' a few months after getting it when he moved coast to coast, because space was so tight. What makes it worse is that he had no confirmation that more of those displays existed until a few months ago, so he was left wondering if he had thrown away the only one in the world. Ouch...
* ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles2''
** As per usual when it comes to major story deaths, Emile is almost entirely silent in the wake of Vandham's sacrifice, even though the newly awakened Mythra gave him the opportunity to talk about what she can do.
** [[https://youtu.be/d6O8uBBVk6g?t=810 Chugga notes his realization]] where at first he thought Tora not remembering anything about Mor Ardain despite likely being from there was a plothole, but eventually realized that it was because Tora had likely suppressed his memories of living there due to what had happened with his family, to the point he literally could not remember anything of his childhood outside of a few things.
** [[https://youtu.be/IeLoQgKbPmw?t=2164 When talking about Mabon, Vess' former driver before his death back in Episode 37]], Chugga notes an argument he had heard that in hindsight, it seems like Mabon might have been downplaying just how badly ill he actually was, given that he had never once tried to move from his position, possibly implying that he was paralyzed and was only putting on a brave face.
** Ursula's singing voice, courtesy of Adriana Figueroa.
** [[https://youtu.be/JZSGncUoRlY?t=302 The beginning of Episode 67 has a more somber tone than usual,]] with Chugga talking about the intense nature of the start of the Chapter, with the scenes of Lora's (Jin's Driver) abusive household and the soldiers of the Urayan Kingdom noting their own nature as [[RedShirt essentially cannon fodder.]] For Chugga in particular, the scenes presented with Jin and Lora hit much more personally than usual, [[AbusiveParents given his own difficulties with a certain family member when he was younger]], and the sheer sense of helplessness one feels in that situation, even noting that to Lora, Jin was akin to having a light at the end of the tunnel metaphorically.
** In Episode 112 [[https://youtu.be/N41bRjIrTtY?t=1504 when doing Floren's Blade Quest]], Chugga admits that Floren's thing of [[DudeLooksLikeALady being mistaken for a girl]] and getting free stuff from other people for it reminds him of a friend he used to have... one who [[{{GIRL}} pretended to be a girl on the internet to get fame and gifts]]. And from the sound of things, [[LaserGuidedKarma it bit that friend back hard]].
--->'''Chugga:''' A long time ago I had a friend who...pretended to be a girl on the internet to get attention and to get free things out of people, and-no, I don't mean that they were trans, I understand that that's difficult and I'm not talking about that. They're somebody that I looked up again recently, and they still identify as male all these years later and by their own admission [[AttentionWhore they were just doing it to get attention]]. They were entering relationships with straight men ''not telling them'' and they said they were doing it with the justification of "Oh, I'm just helping them build their confidence". It was disgusting. And, after their secret got out, they were just the ''BIGGEST'' crab-apple ever, they were so rude all the time, they were never happy, and [[UsedToBeASweetKid they were such a cheerful, nice person before all that happened]] and it...really made me sad, I haven't talked to them in...like, close to a decade at this point. (...) A-And like, the worst thing about it was it actually ''worked''. They were getting free gifts from people all the time and being treated special and all that, and...this quest just kinda reminds me of that.
** Near the end of [[https://youtu.be/J6g1DA5Uwi8 Episode 125]], Chugga goes over the outcome of having Nicc leave Garfont Village. He's nowhere to be seen in Uraya, or even Gormott, and based on his words of saying that everyone in his old group could've survived if he died, [[DrivenToSuicide Chugga surmises that Nicc likely committed suicide]], not helped by [[ShootTheShaggyDog Jelved never learning the ramifications of his actions]]. And unlike other instances where Chugga could play up SuicideAsComedy, [[SeriousBusiness this is played completely straight]]. No wisecracks, no {{bathos}}; just pure remorse for Nicc's struggle.
** Chugga's reminiscing during the credits in [[https://youtu.be/xNCEtCbvyL0?t=3263 Episode 136]]. He recalls how in February 2020, one of his closest family members was laying on their deathbed. He wanted to be with them during their final moments, but because the business aspect of his [=YouTube=] career interfered with any open opportunities to do so, he couldn't do so in time. On his drive back home, he solemnly listened to [[https://youtu.be/muRgzS2HvRU "The Tomorrow With You"]], which put into perspective just how much his relative was his own personal Pyra. Even worse, this was one month before the UsefulNotes/COVID19Pandemic hit, which resulted in one, big TraumaCongaLine. Because Chugga was stuck inside, he couldn't visit any relatives to talk his feelings out, he couldn't do any of his normal outdoor activities to keep himself distracted, and said relative wasn't able to have their funeral held, and at the time he recorded the video, ''still'' hasn't. All Chugga could do was patiently wait for the world to get better; to become Elysium. The absolute worst part? ...Chugga sounds ''painfully'' melancholy describing all this, and although he isn't using a webcam, [[BrokenTears he may very well be crying as he explains these horrible tragedies]].
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsIlK_ToZAE Episode 146: Indoline Memoriam]] opens with Chugga holding a memoriam for all the named characters who were lost[[note]]presumed dead or just missing in action[[/note]] during the Fall of Indol, including the young Urayan girls from the "Mellica the Chorister" sidequest. Chugga then ponders on the tragic irony of Amalthus's actions bringing his ''own'' people to near extinction in the end.
** Chugga releasing all of his Blades at the end of [[https://youtu.be/E5qzFexGiHw Episode 179]]. Whether it's because [[AndThatsTerrible they guilt trip him]], their release lines are HarsherInHindsight FridgeHorror, or they don't deserve to be released in his eyes, Chugga comes out of the situation [[HeroicBSOD a broken mess]] before he inevitably restarts, with the burden of restarting after such a slaughter making him feel like scum.
** The final five minutes of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k10N2tQEYTU Episode 187]] is a sobering and personal moment for Chugga. In light of Lora's confrontation with [[AbusiveDad Gort]], he shares a story of his experiences with his own father; how he was abusive and awful, how he blamed others and Chugga specifically for his problems and guilt tripped and lied to others about him, and how even after first getting him out of his life, he would still find ways to cause issue and continue to treat him like garbage. A big reason [[NotWorthKilling Lora's actions and ultimate response]] resonate so much with him is that he found that, when you're around such an abuser a lot, it's normal to want nothing more than for them to suffer, feel what ''they'' put you through, or die. But growing older, he found that once he had enough distance from that man, he realized that isn't your responsibility, and that you'll be able to find peace just existing separately from them.
*** About halfway through Chugga's speech, his cat Kirby can be heard meowing in the background, prompting Chugga to reassure him that he’s okay.
** The entire ending of [[https://youtu.be/3hlPQtaRH5g Episode 218]]. Coupled with him revisiting the topic of his abusive father one last time, Chugga admits that he can never hear Jin saying, "if it's with her," without feeling the need to cry as a result.
* ''VideoGame/Splatoon2'': When Marie discovers that Callie is being held by the Octarians, Chugga feels really bad over the fact that due to the way the Let's Play works, he can't go save her now, even though he really wants to.
* ''VideoGame/PaperMario64'' (remake) Mixed with NightmareFuel, In [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nH2a-vBDnnw&t=600s Episode 50]], Chugga explained that when he was a kid, he thought seeing the dying Flower Fields was one of the saddest [[CerebusSyndrome and most dire events he ever witnessed at the time]], faced with the idea of mortality as all life in Flower Fields that didn't evacuate in time will go extinct as the clouds slowly constrict the land and prevent the sun from climbing to the sky to the point where it made said sun cross the DespairEventHorizon. Even as a child, he quickly recognized the situation as both [[TheMigration a full-blown refugee crisis]] as well as an extinction level event unfolding. This also made him realize how serious Bowser was when he meant revenge after the events of ''VideoGame/SuperMario64'' [[KnightOfCerebus since he was terrified of him]] [[BreakTheCutie during his early childhood]] and the events of this game did not help change his opinion of Bowser at the time.
* ''VideoGame/PokemonBlack2AndWhite2'':
** During [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DI852gBphfE&t=132s Episode 17,]] Chugga takes a moment to bring up Haywire, his Blitzle/Zebstrika from his playthrough of [[VideoGame/PokemonBlackAndWhite the first games]], where he give his own theory as to why he thinks she did so bad despite the Pokémon's decent stats. Long story short, the winning comment that gave her the name was revealed to be ''plagiarized'' from a forum post and Chugga didn't know until he was informed. Thus, he was led to believe that Haywire was ''cursed'' because of it, which is unfortunate considering that Chugga had high hopes for her, even as he looks back on the rest of the team so fondly. Even outside of that, the bad egg who decided to steal someone else's work to get themselves into the limelight is pretty upsetting, especially to the forum poster who first came up with it.
*** On a lighter note in spite of the plagiarism, Chugga urged his fans to not harass the person who did it, especially since this was something that happened half a decade ago and he personally took the blame for not dealing with it at the time.
** Episode 28 gives Zorua special spotlight with fanart for its profile. It's a heartbreaking scene of Zorua crying at its now-broken Poké Ball as N walks away, not understanding why N released it. The fact that [[{{Leitmotif}} "Unwavering Emotions"]] is playing in the background does ''not'' help.
** All those Kirby meows we heard throughout the LP... were the last time we heard him. The day Episode 44 went up, Chugga revealed that the poor kitty was put down that morning due to renal failure. To put into perspective how long Emile had him, he was 5 years (or roughly 36 cat years) old when Emile started his let's play career, and he has been part of the Chuggaaconroy youtube family for 14 years (or roughly 72 cat years) since, so his fans have known him as long as Chugga. There is some solace in the fact that Emile and Tim were there as he took his trip on the rainbow bridge. The final episode ends with a dedication to his feline companion:
--> [[InMemoriam To our Star Warrior]].
** Episode 94 sees Chugga fail to capture Latias and he sounds so broken up over it having to let Latias Struggle to death in hopes of keeping his Master Ball for a possible later use.
** Episode 101 has Chugga discuss that back in his Emerald LP, he recalled getting ''very'' angry comments regarding his pity over Tate and Lisa being twins who must have to share everything. He noted that growing up, he was an only child and just about ''every'' person he knew who did have siblings growing up ''hated'' them. One can only hope that their relationships with them were more loving then they let on or improved with time, but either way it's rather sobering to imagine someone only hearing the worst about life with a sibling and assuming that was all there was to it.
* In [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrY8gKes2Ws part four]] of ''Sticks It To Sticker Star'', Chugga admits that he actually really liked Chapter 4 and was really hoping that the game would get better from here...[[YankTheDogsChain only for him to reveal that things actually got]] ''[[YankTheDogsChain worse]]'' [[YankTheDogsChain to him]].
** ''Sticks It To Sticker Star'' in general is just kind of sad. Emile is usually a really positive guy, so watching him show genuine fury is very upsetting. And even when he finds reasons to be positive, the game will inevitably conspire to drag him back into a generally upset and negative state. It's saddening to watch at times. [[RayOfHopeEnding Thankfully relieved a bit]] as the remake of ''VideoGame/PaperMarioTheThousandYearDoor'' was announced just before the final episode of the sub-series.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RodZ9fV2M6I The final episode of]] ''Sticks it to Sticker Star'' opens up with a sad story about a TraumaCongaLine that Emile faced when he first bought and played the game. First off, he was all alone for two weeks since his friends either went on to vacation in Hawaii without him or were busy with other things to the point where he couldn't come alone. Second, his apartment building was struck by lightning on his first lonely day, which meant he couldn't have internet or cable for several days. The next day, he was sick with the flu and needed something to take his mind off of his sickness. Emile decided to buy ''VideoGame/TheLastOfUs'', but couldn't play it because his console needed an update, and he still had no internet. He was considering buying ''VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening'' when it was on sale, but passed it up in favor of ''Sticker Star'', due to his love for the franchise and [[TemptingFate believing it had to be good]], as it was a ''Paper Mario'' game. The next week involved a sick Emile painfully coughing, barely eating, unable to contact anyone, and getting frustrated by the game for its tendency to not tell the player what they need to do, forcing him to get up and walk out until he had cell phone reception to look up a guide. He couldn't go back to the store to buy a new game since A: he didn't want to risk getting other people sick in the process, and B: He was concerned that the game or system would require an update in order to play, like what happened with ''The Last of Us''. Thus, Emile had no choice but to finish ''Sticker Star'', hoping the game would get better at some point and hoping for a good game to take his mind off his sickness, but was left in more pain than ''ever'' as a result.
