!!This adaptation has the examples of:

* AdaptationExpansion: The adaptation is almost three hours long, and a part of it is used to show the pirates when they worked for Captain Flint, and a subplot featuring Silver's wife Alibe is also added.
* AdaptationalAttractiveness: Ben Gunn is often portrayed as an older man, however in this adaptation he is portrayed by a [[https://www.google.fi/search?q=treasure+island+elijah+wood&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:fi:official&client=firefox-a&gws_rd=cr&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=fi&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=7tUoUuHcDun_4QSLmYGwBw&biw=1280&bih=641&sei=8NUoUrySK62P4gSNu4CwBw shirtless Elijah Wood in tribal paint.]]
* AdaptationalVillainy: Squire Trelawney in this adaptation has Mrs. Hawkins thrown out of the Admiral Benbow inn, arranges for the execution of Mr. Arrow due to his drunken behavior, and schemes to cheat Jim and Dr. Livesy out of the treasure. In the book, while [[UpperClassTwit somewhat foolish]], he is well-meaning and far from evil.
* AdaptationalWimp: Dr. Livesey is more of a coward than in the book, and is easily browbeaten from his share of the treasure by Trelawney.
* TheAloner: Ben Gunn, who has been marooned on the island (by his counting) for a thousand days.
* AristocratsAreEvil: The attitude probably guiding Squire Trelawney being turned into the adaptation's main villain.
* AscendedExtra: Both Jim's mother and Silver's wife are much more prominent characters than they were in the book.
* BadBoss: Before hiding his treasure, Captain Flint leaves most of his crew adrift on the sea and kills the rest (except his first mate Billy Bones) after its burial.
* BaldOfEvil: John Silver keeps his head shaved in this version.
* BeardOfEvil: In addition to the above, Silver also sports a goatee.
* CoolAndUnusualPunishment: When one of the crew needs to be reprimanded, he is keelhauled, a practice of tying off a man and dragging him along the barnacle-covered hull of the ship to ''shred'' his flesh. We don't see the full thing, but get to hear his anguished thrashing against the hull as he goes under and comes back up the other side ''barely'' alive and covered in lacerations.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: When it gets down to brass tacks at the siege of the island stronghold, Dr Livesey berserk-rushes two pirates and successfully drives them back from the battlements.
* DeathByChildbirth: Dr. Livesey's wife (and the child) died two years before the film's events.
* DeathByMaterialism: [[spoiler:Trelawney [[DeathByAdaptation drowns while trying retrieve the treasure]] after Jim decides to throw it overboard and his foot gets stuck in the treasure nets and he cannot cut himself free]].
* EqualOpportunityEvil: The pirate crew are very multicultural, contrasting with the all-white upper class EvilBrit. This is absolutely historically accurate, as classical pirates generally lacked racial prejudice and welcomed anyone who brought a valuable skill or at least a pair of sturdy hands to a team, regardless of a race or age (though they have little use [[PirateGirl for the women]], mostly for morale reasons).
* {{Guyliner}}: Silver and Gunn both sport it to varying degrees.
* JailBake: After conversing with Jim, jailed Silver finds a key to his cell hidden in his meal.
* TheMutiny: Silver organizes a mutiny against expedition's leaders.
* MythologyGag: Mrs. Silver's given name Alibe is taken from the actress who portrayed her in the 1972 adaptation.
* NamedByTheAdaptation. Silver's wife, who is only briefly mentioned in the book, is given the name Alibe and is featured more prominently in the story.
* PapaWolf: Silver has been portrayed as this many times towards Jim. In this version, [[spoiler:he puts his crutch on Squire Trelawney's throat after he pulls a sword on Jim - while ''chained to the helm'']].
* PirateParrot: Downplayed, as Silver's bird Flint spends most of its time in its cage.
* {{Robinsonade}}: Ben Gunn has been marooned on the island.
* ShaggyDogStory: [[spoiler:The treasure is thrown overboard by Jim, rendering the whole quest for it pointless.]]
* TalkingInYourSleep: Jim finds Billy Bones talking in his sleep while having nightmares when he is bringing him his grog.
* TattooedCrook: Silver sports a prominent facial tattoo.
* TookALevelInBadass: The cowardly Dr. Livesey shows his chops during the siege of the fort when he saves Jim and keep the two pirates, who had been attacking Captain Smollett, at bay.
* TreasureMap: Flint's map of the island.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: Ben Gunn
* WeNamedTheMonkeyJack: Captain Silver has a parrot named Flint.
* WhiteFlag: Used twice to do parlaying.
