''Lo que callamos las mujeres'' ("What We Women Keep Silent" translated to English) is a Mexican anthology television series which deals with the social problems of Mexican society. The show started airing on Azteca 13 as a way to compete with series Mujer Casos De La Vida Real from Canal de las Estrellas. It started airing on the network in 2001 and has since been running continuously.
----
!!''Lo que callamos las mujeres'' provides examples of the following tropes:
* AbusiveParents: Given the down-to-earth nature of the series, some of these examples are quite upsetting, especially those aimed for acceptance.
** We have Ernesto, Sergio's father, from "[[https://youtu.be/VYkud3WBevE Somos todos iguales]]". He is a controlling, abusive, self-righteous, unsupportive, male chauvinistic asshole. Not only doesn't care what Sergio thinks, if he doesn't man up, but also verbal, physical, and emotionally abuses him for the same reason, and treats him like a stranger than like a son. He even goes as far as destroying his drawings from his room.
** Ismael from "Dentro de ti", Monica's controlling, abusive stepfather, often abuses his daughter for not meeting his abusive expectations. He is also one of the reasons why Monica does sex with Javier.
** Don Tomás from "El marido que soñé" often abuses his daughters Delia and Virgina, even [[DisproportionateRetribution for smaller reasons]]. Even going as far as murdering Delia just because she spilled his coffee and disowning Virginia after she was raped.
** Magda from "A Pesar De La Vida" cares way more about money and alcohol than about her mother and two children and takes her anger about her money troubles on both Paty and Faustino. Also, Paty's ex-boyfriend, Genaro proved himself to be a horrible parent towards his own son Faustino the Second ([[DeadGuyJunior named Paty's aforementioned brother himself]].)
** Amanda from "Donde quedó mi infancia" cares way more about her two stepsons than about her daughter and forces Carla to drop out of school and do all her house chores while she is out for her job and gets violent with her if she defies her.
** Trinidad from "Gritos desde el encierro". She abuses and insults her daughter Oliva and supports her son on his abuse rather than defending her. It also shows she doesn't give a shit about her, as shown when she tells Oliva's boss, Doña Carmen that her daughter is no longer welcome on her home once she realizes she goes out with Rómulo.
** Matilde from "Siempre hay una opción" cares way more about herself and her son, Justin than about her daughter Soraya and takes her anger about her troubles at work and home on Soraya.
** Laura's parents from "Mujer de su casa" treat their children poorly. Insist that only women should StayInTheKitchen. And even refuse to believe that Roberto raped Laura. Even going as far as to threaten to disown her and her brother Rafael if they call the police on him.
* AccompliceByInaction: This trope happens regularly in the telenovela, making it a very jarring example:
** In "Aulas Seguras", right before Aldana and Jessica get arrested. [[ShamingTheMob Julieta accuses from this to her classmates for seeing Aldana's blatant bullying and doing nothing to stop her]].
** In "La Más Débil Del Mundo": We have Ms. Jacinta and the principal, as well Lorena's classmates, they do nothing to stop Pepa from bullying Lorena, even Lorena calls Ms. Jacinta on this at one point. Of course when Pepa pushes Lorena from the stair, the classmates learn their lesson and in order, [[BestFriend Natalie]] [[TheDogBitesBack decides to steal Pepa's cellphone]] [[HoistByTheirOwnPetard and leak the video of Pepa pushing Lorena to the stairs in the internet]], leading to Pepa's downfall and the next time we see the school, the rest of the classmates decide to bully and ostracize Pepa as a karma to get back at her, while Principal is fired and on the run, she and Ms. Jacinta are eventually put in jail for doing nothing to help Lorena.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: We have some examples in the telenovela:
** Karen from "Límites" is an exagerated example. She ruined the life of Iris (her older sister) a lot, like: destroying the photos of their mother, ruining the day of her wedding and her wedding dress, accusing her of being a "lesbian" in a family Christmas party, (because she didn't wanted to borrow her a dress) stealing her boyfriend, humilliating her in the funeral of their father and ruined her Quinceañera party. She also tells embarrasing moments of her in very inapropiate moments. [[ObfuscatingStupidity The worst part is that she's very well aware what she's doing, but fakes innocence and acts like she doesn't know any better, and in the end of the episode is revelated that she's doing this]], [[TheResenter because she resents her sister and father because, unlike them]], [[FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse she never got to meet her mother (it's implied Karen's birth caused the demise of her and Iris' mother) and she feels that she has to ruin the life of anybody who she thinks is having a better life than her for it]].
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Perla from "Ella o él" starts receiving this treatment when her brother Óscar told the gossipy María about her condition.
* AloofBigBrother: In "Somos Todos Iguales", we have Sergio's older brother, Lucas, who neglected him every time he is bullied and doesn't do anything to defend him. He is quick to dismiss and bad-mouth him for being a "freak" because of mannerisms. When Sergio was gravely injured, he realizes he is wrong and stops doing this.
* AnAesop: The series gives Aesop's in every episode.
* AssholeVictim: At times, this happens in this telenovela:
** Juvenal from "Gritos Desde El Encierro" suffers from this. In an attempt of winning the heart of Olivia, Rómulo sends two of his minions to beat the crap out of Juvenal. It's impossible to feel bad for Juvenal being beaten by two adults considering how he always mistreats his sister Olivia, so this should be cathartic for many. Sadly his mother Trinidad doesn't get a comeuppance, the closest thing she gets is seeing her son full of bruises.
* AttemptedRape: It happens often in the telenovela.
** At the start of "Ella or El", Toño attempted to rape Perla, despite her protests.
* BadBoss: Yes, the down-to-earth nature of this telenovela is not exempt of having abusive bosses:
** Joaquín from "Atención al cliente" is a good example, he grabs and attempts to have sex with his female workers, cuts them money if they stand up, wants his workers be rude towards the people the call and insults them and calls them "Burros" ("Donkeys") if they don't meet their demands, besides threatening to send them to Cobranzas de Grupo Finaciero Valladolid. Heck, at one point Chelita (one of the workers) was pregnant and gave birth in middle of the office (an emergency), luckily Fernando (another worker) studied medicine and Mari Cruz (our Protagonist) is a mother helped her and she and her baby are healthy. But Joaquín literally wanted to drag her and called her a "marrana" ("swine"), despite the emergency of the situation. That and his scars, are the reason why Mía calles him "sádico" ("sadistic").
* BeyondRedemption: Exist certain antagonist who are so evil, who cannot be saved and refuse to learn from their mistakes.
** Both Magda and Genaro from "A Pesar De La Vida" are good examples. Even after they receive their karmas by the end of the episode, Paty notices how the two refuse to change and become better persons, after seeing what was of them. Magda is still the same alcoholic prick from the beginning, the only difference is that now she's a cripple, Genaro is the same, the only difference is that he's now in jail.
* BigBrotherBully:
** Juvenal from "Gritos desde el encierro" is a horrible brother towards Oliva. He spends most of the time abusing and hitting her if she doesn't obey either him or their abusive mother Trinidad.
** Lorena form "La Arrimada" is this to Silvia. She has major trust issues towards her younger sister, snubbing her and essentially being mean towards her, especially after their parents died in an accident and accidentally miscarring her unborn child in a fit of rage against Silvia. She spends most the time bullying her afterwards.
* BigShutUp: A very cathartic one happens in "Balas En Casa", Susana shouts this to Ramón, when he starts to insult Andrés, after he starts to feel worried about going to jail for accidentally shooting Jaime with a gun.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Vinicio, from "El Peso De Lo Que Se Fue", started out as a kind and loving husband to Juliana. Then when they encounter with an old customer of Juliana in her old prostitution job at age 13 and called her "Chantita" in public, coupled with her revealing her background, Vinicio reveals himself as a spiteful and abusive prick towards Juliana, demonizing and turning his back on her for it.
* BittersweetEnding: This trope is fairly common in the show, many episodes end with the character getting their happy ending, but at expense of still getting burned from the antagonists of the actions in the telenovela.
** In "Es Que Nadie Me Hacía Caso", Itzel reaches rock-bottom and goes for psychiatic help and becomes a better person in the end of the episode, she's a better daughter and niece and is no longer violent and is fighting to put her life together. Sadly her cousin Virginia is still thorned for the incident involving her boyfriend and refuses to apologize her, but the episode itself gives us hopes that Virginia will forgive her in the future.
** In "Educación Especial", Ramiro is saved from Etelvina and takes teraphy and is seen helping another kid who suffered the same issues as him. But his father Pablo, who is the one who caused all of the troubles in Ramiro to begin with, doesn't get any commeuppance for the abuse of his son. In fact, after 4 minutes in the episode, he disappears and Etelevina is introduced. In any case Ramiro and his mom are happy family now.
** In "Mujer de su casa", Laura and Rafael finally got her ex-fiance, Roberto arrested for raping her, but this resulted their family, especially the father, to disown both of them. Heck. They got scot-free for their treatment of Laura.
* BulliedIntoDepression: Sergio of "Somos Todos Iguales" is a depressed, homosexual boy who suffers DomesticAbuse in hands of his abusive father and BullyBrutality by a group of bullies. He also attempted suicide after his classmate, Tomás (another victim of bullying) did the same.
* TheBully: Several examples:
** Aldana from "Aulas Seguras", enjoys bullying Julieta for her status as an actress, calling her names, stealing her stuff, and of course, threatening her. She came even far [[KickTheDog to cut her cheek]].
** Pepa from "La Más Débil Del Mundo", she enjoys bullying Lorena, [[BullyingTheDisabled because she's a cripple]], she even comes far as pushing her from the stairs just for standing up against her, she even filmed this on her cellphone.
* BystanderSyndrome: Considering the nature of the show, this trope is not uncommon. Some examples include:
** In the episode "Tu Hijo, Mi Hijo", we have Héctor, the husband of Lourdes. Despite being a loving couple, during the episode their relationship gets strained because after Lourdes got a new job as a teacher in an Elementary School, she suspects that Daniel (the music teacher and nephew of the principal) could be raping children. Héctor gets fed up with his wife's concerns that he eventually tells his wife that "that is trouble of the parents" and that she "should be doing her job", instead of caring for the well-being of her students, which she points is part of her job, because he's more worried that his wife doesn't get fired than the possibility of a child molester in the school, specially if said molester is the nephew of his wife's boss. After Lourdes is run over by a car, he keeps insisting, because she's not only endagering herself, but also their unborn baby. [[JerkassRealization Thankfully he recapacites]], after Lourdes [[ArmorPiercingQuestion asks what would happen if their son suffers the same situation, but unlike Kevin, nobody wants to help him, because "it's not their trouble"]], which causes him to stop complaining and support his wife in that regard.
* CampGay: Raúl from "Valiente" is a textbook example of a stereotypical gay man. He is a hairdresser for extra bonus points.
* CantTakeCriticism:
** Nicolás from "Atrapada" utterly has this problem once he shows his true color. He married Rosario so he could sexually/physically abuse her and lock her up in their house. If challenged, he absolutely goes ballistic. Rosario opposses to his abuse, but everytime she opened her mouth, Nicolás starts to shush her, saying she only serves as his sex toy. When she learned that Nicolás was already married to another woman before her (who abandoned him sometime before the episode.) and had a son together, she called out to him for lying to her because he told her he was always lonely, not having friends or a family of his own. Naturally, Nicolás just makes a major fuss and worsens his abuse.
** Aldana from "Aulas Seguras", when Julieta comfronts her about her bullying on her and then assumes she only does it out of her anger over her father and siblings being on jail, Aldana doesn't react ''very'' well and resorts to beat the crap out of Julieta.
** Magda, from "A Pesar de la Vida", utterly has this problem when we meet her. She forces her children to sell candy on the city and bring money so she could binge her on alcohol. If challenged, she absolutely goes ballistic. As an adult, when Paty finds the money she reserved for her sick grandmother's medicine used by her mother to spend it on alcoholic drinks, she calls her out on it. Naturally, she makes a major fuss and prossedes to beat her. That's when Paty decides to move out to live with her boyfriend Genaro, who turns out to be even worse.
** Tomás, father of Virginia in "El marido con el que soñé", didn't take it well when Virginia, after being raped by Anibal, confronts him about his abuse of his family and killing her sister Delia. And is one of the reason he refuses to aid or forgive her when she asks him for it.
** Ramon from "Doble Amenaza" utterly has this problem when we meet him. He was raised into male chauvinism, believing that men are superior to women and asserts control over his pregnant wife Paola and constantly manipulates her into believe he would change for the better for their unborn baby, when he never lives up his word, [[EntitledToHaveYou so he would make sure she doesn't escape his clutches.]] If challenged, he absolutely goes ballistic. When Paola finds him smelling like alcohol, she confronts him about lying about his promise to change for the better one last time. Naturally, he makes a major fuss and prossedes to beat her up, which results her having a miscarriage, and then abandons her while she is still injured.
** Amanda, mother of Carla from "Donde quedó mi infancia" utterly has this problem. She is abused by her second husband and forces Carla to take care of her two stepsons in her absence due to her job. If challenged, she absolutely goes ballistic. When Carla confronts her about her abuse, naturally she makes a major fuss and proceed to beat her with a stick.
** Luz's mother from "La sonrisa de Luz" has this problem when we meet her. She was abused at young age and is implied to suffer TeenPregnancy and abuses Luz ever for the slightest mistakes. If challenged, she absolutely goes ballistic. When Luz's teacher visits her, she confronts her about her abuse and threatens her. Naturally, she makes a fuss and her abuse worsens.
** Matilde from "Siempre hay una opción" has this problem when we meet her. She struggles at work and home, taking care of her two children after her husband passed away, and supports her lazy, good-for-nothing son Justin rather than her hard-working daughter Soraya. If challenged, she throws a fit. At her workplace Soraya confronts her about her abuse of her and continued bitterness, as well refusing to letting her do what she wants. She naturally makes a major fuss and decides to kick her out of her home.
* CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot: In "Aulas Seguras", Julieta's mother, Patricia spends most of the episode pressuring her daughter to focus on her part-time job as an actress rather than her troubles concerning the bullying she suffers in hands of Aldana. After circumstances end up knocking Patricia down a few hundred pegs, she finally asks her about her troubles. When she refuses to speak up, and her best friend, Maria explained everything, Patricia asks why didn't she say so earlier. She is surprised she ''tried'' to, but when you spend most of your time calling her names and trying to pressure her on focusing on acting, explainations like that aren't going through.
* ConsummateLiar: Mireya from "El marido que soñé" proves herself to be this. Out of anger and hatred against Virginia due to having a child with Anibal, who was already married and had a son with former for two years, she convinces Anibál that Virginia is an easy girl who , which is why she got pregnant with her daughter, and then Don Tomás that she is mentally unstable she hits herself, when Mireya herself is the one who hits her, and claiming she can take care of her better. This turned the two men against Virginia and assist her on Saira's kidnapping.
* CureYourGays: Invoked by [[DrFeelgood Dr. Gabriel]] in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSnOuqaT4gs&t=22s "Valiente"]] (Brave), when he is called by Jorge to "cure" his son Víctor of his homosexuality. His wife and daughter, as well as Raúl, the gay hairdresser, aren't okay with that.
* DeathOfAChild: This show is not immune of younger deaths.
** Faustino, Paty's brother from "A Pesar De La Vida", dies of alcohol toxication when Paty was still a child.
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: There's a store that appears in the episodes "Fragilidad" and "Humo" if you pay in the background, there's a sign that says "Hielo Frío" ("Cold Ice").
* DirtyCoward: Judging for the conversation between him and his mother, Óscar from "Ella o él" was implied to turn Perla in to Toño and his gang for her to be lynched or beaten by them all as soon as he sees her, for fear that ''he'' would be on the receiving end if he didn't.
-->'''Óscar:''' ¿Y qué querías que hiciera? ¿Que me lincharan a mí? (And what did you want me to do? For them to lynch ''me''?)
** Implied in "Balas En Casa". Susana mentions that her husband Ramón abuses her and Andrés, because physically he was stronger than them and after he's arrested she assumes that Ramón will be in the receiving end of abuse in jail, because there's meaner people than him. This is implied to be true when she visits him in jail and refuses to speak about how he's treated in jail.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Funnily enough, there's a scene in "Balas en Casa", where Andrés and Jaime fight over a gun and start fighting back and forth with it. It doesn't help that Andrés wants that Jaime touches the gun while Jaime doesn't want to.
* TheDogBitesBack: Happens at times in the telenovela.
** In "La Más Débil Del Mundo", Natalie was bullied by Pepa and her minions because she's half-deaf (she can't listen in her left ear), [[UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom she's the one who takes Pepa's cellphone]] [[SmallRoleBigImpact and uploads the video of Pepa]] [[HoistByTheirOwnPetard throwing Lorena from the stairs]], [[KarmaHoudiniWarranty causing the karma finally catches up to her]].
-->'''Natalie:''' Todos tienen que saber la verdad. (Agarra el celular de Pepa de su mochila y sube el vídeo al internet)
* DomesticAbuse:
** Rosario, from [[https://youtu.be/2R96mbDIUns ''Atrapada'']], suffers this in hands of her controlling, abusive husband, Nicolas. He not only doesn't care what she thinks or needs, if she doesn't do what he says, but also verbally/physically/emotionally/sexually abuses her. [[CantTakeCriticism He also flies in a rage every time she opposes his abuse.]]
** Paola, from [[https://youtu.be/a1X0bjEfoKc ''Doble Amenaza'']], is a victim of this in hands of his controlling, possessive, abusive male chauvinist of a husband, Ramon. He physically/mentally abuses her every single time, even while she is pregnant with their child. He asserts his control over his wife at every opportunity, trying to make every major decision for her in an attempt to guide her through [[StayInTheKitchen the life path she, according to himself, is destined to have.]] He refuses to allow her to have any say and even goes so far as to assert that, as her husband, he owns her. At any moment in which Paola so much as tries to stand up for herself, Ramon flies into a psychotic rage. For added torture, there are many scenes of him hitting her and even trying to sexually assault her. He even refuses to let her have any contact with anyone else nor go out of the house. He also, after Paola ran away from home, lies about promising her to change for the better so he could get her back to his side. Even going as far as killing their unborn child, while beating her up, revealing that he never really cared about them (this was shown before during the whole episode), seeing them as an obstacle to his relationship between him and Paola. This results in Paola suffering a miscarriage, which (along with having her friend beaten up) was the last straw to her to the point she came to the conclusion of denouncing him to the police and even going to therapy.
** Felipe from "Vida Perfecta" abuses his wife Viviana. He beats her up every single time. He assumes the worst of her. (He believes she is being unfaithful on him everytime she goes out.)
** Anibal from "El marido que soñé" proved himself to be abusive towards Virginia. He constantly raped and lashes out at her anytime. He doesn't even care about her feelings. When Virgina had practical concerns such as her dealing with her abusive father when she gets home late when he starts groping her, he doesn't care BS about that and proceed to rape her at the car. When his wife Mireya makes him believe Virginia is an easy girl, he instantly accuses her of cheating on her with other men and abuses her physically. He even goes as far as kidnapping her daughter Saira.
** Alex from "Dónde quedó mi infancia" proved himself as this to Carla after she moved away to his place. He hits and rapes her even for the smallest mistakes. He even refuses to let her go to school. Even going as far as to lock her up in the apartment just because she visited a neighbor, who happens to have some story with him.
* DoubleStandardRapeFemaleOnMale: At times this trope happens in the telenovela.
** Etelvina from "Educación Especial", seduces and brainwashes Ramiro, one of her students through the episode, this culminates with her raping him and recording him blaming his mother Griselda and her godmother Zulma.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: Several, in fact, you could almost say that "Lo Que Callamos Las Mujeres" in it's early episodes was a different telenovela than what is now. Some examples include:
** Many episodes ended abruptly after the conflict of the episode is settled, as such there was [[NoEnding No Ending]]. The earliest episodes ended either with a telephone or a moral regarding what happened in the episode.
** In the earliest episodes the antagonist always suffered an [[OffscreenKarma Offscreen Karma]] at the end of the episode, giving hopes to the viewer they will receive a punishment, but the scenes weren't seen, at times there were subtitles saying what happened with the antagonist from the episode, while showing flashbacks of the episodes. [[CatharsisFactor This was changed in the later episodes in order to make it more satisfactory to the viewer]].
** Many fans comment that the earliest episodes weren't as much of a "feminist propaganda", somehow the series slowly added that "feminist messages" starting from 2006.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: Yeah, even with the nature of this show. Exist episodes where the protagonists get their happy ending, despite everything that has happened.
** In "La Más Débil Del Mundo", both [[AlphaBitch Pepa]] and [[BadBoss the boss of Magaly]] [[KarmaHoudiniWarranty receive their just desserts]], as [[AccomplicebyInaction the principal and Ms. Jacinta do it to, for not doing anything to stopping Pepa]]. When they're about to pack and move to another city, Magaly receives a call about she getting a new job and tells her daughter Lorena that it seems that life is shining over them again and that they will begin again, but this time they will use this experience to become stronger while Lorena says that she and her mother are the strongest people in the world.
** In "Educación Especial", Etelvina is put in jail and Ramiro is saved. He goes to take physicological help to be able to recover from Etelvina and her father's mistreatment. The last scene shows Griselda and Zulma talking about Ramiro's recovery and doing food for Ramiro, who is in the living room with a friend he made named Jorgito who is suffering the same troubles as Ramiro and Ramiro is helping him to recover and explaining what they do in the association that helped him to recover.
* ElderAbuse: At times this trope happens in the telenovela:
** In "La Cuesta", [[CoolOldGal Doña Pilar]] a crippled old woman, suffers the abuse of her teen grandaughter [[TeensAreMonsters Romina]], who belives that whenever her grandma asks for help (like going to the bathroom, which she can't, because she can't walk) is only to bother her or call the atention, as thus, she always neglects her all the times and convinces her neighbours to do the same if she ever asks for help. Not only that she spends the money for her medicaments and treatments in her own things and whenever they interact, she commonly abuses verbally and phsyically of her (if with phsycal abuse, we mean she's very rough with her) as well her boyfriend. Thankfully Romina undergoes through a [[HeelFaceTurn redemption]] at the end, but still is jarring how she treats her in the first 3/4 of the episode. [[LoveMakesYouEvil In the end, it's revelated that Romina's behavior was because of the influence of Gabriel, but still]].
* EtTuBrute: Gaby from "Amo a mi hija o pierdo a mi hijo", is [[EntitledBastard bewildered]] that her sister María decided to arrest her after she discovered that she abused Ulises, even claiming that she's "sick", like Ulises and she'll regret putting her in jail.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: At times this happens in this telenovela.
** Lorna, the secretary and lover of Manuel, from "Tú No Vales Nada" is appalled when she sees Manuel mistreating her wife Tamara and sides with her when she is asked if she loves him. She doesn't, she only wanted his money and despises the idea of having a formal relationship with him.
** The Principal from "La Más Débil Del Mundo", she calls out Pepa for pushing Lorena from the stairs. This also applies to Pepa's parents, who maybe are neglectful parents, but they don't approve what Pepa did.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood:
** In "Somos todos iguales", [[AbusiveParents Ernesto]] doesn't understand why Maria and Lucas stand up for the homosexual Sergio.
** Aldana from "Aulas Seguras" doesn't understand why everyone at school is genuinely horrified when she cut Julieta's face in public.
* EvilCripple: Exist certain antagonist, who despite being disabled, they're quite hateable.
** In "A Pesar De La Vida", this is the karma of Magda. When Julieta decides to visit her former home again, she sees her mother Magda, she's now a crippled old lady, that was abandoned and alienated by everybody, but she's still alcoholic. Despite this, she haven't changed, this is evidenced when a random man looks weirdered to Magda and she rudely asks him: "What are you seeing!? IMBECILE!". Paty can't stop crying and feeling bad for her, despite she knows very well she choose that path.
* EvilIsHammy: Surprisingly this trope happens in the telenovela as well.
** Etelvina from "Educación Especial", is a perfect example. It seems that her actress enjoys playing that role.
* EvilerThanThou: Some episodes show this trope in effect.
** Discussed and implied in "Balas En Casa". Susana and her sister discusse that even if Ramón doesn't redeem or regret his actions in jail, he likely will be forced to change his behavior because in prison there's meaner people than him tha will make him to be submissive. This is implied to be true when Susana visits him in jail and notices him more submissive than usual and deduces that he's the punching bag now.
* FightingBackIsWrong: An episode in the Chilean version tells about a mother who had a son who went to the wrong side of the law, but eventually thanks to her love and teachings he reformed and stopped some of his former gang to prevent a murder. Before the episode ends, one of the members of his former gang kills the boy close to his house and [[DiedInYourArmsTonight died in his mother's arms]], seeing the last scene of the mother in the cemetery with his son's tomb.
* GayAesop: The episode "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYkud3WBevE Somos todos iguales]]", is about gay acceptance.
* {{Gayngst}}/TransTribulations: This is to be expected in episodes featuring acceptance of LGBT people. This is justified, however, since it's set in Mexico.
* GayngstInducedSuicide: In ''Somos todos Iguales'', another student named Tomás, who is implied to be Sergio's LoveInterest, attempts this by overdosing on pills due to the homophobic bullying they both receive. Thankfully he survives and gets better.
** In "Muxe", Mario is implied to attempt this upon being left alone on the school grounds by his mother Refugio on the orders of the school staff. He survives afterward.
** In "Amo a mi hija o pierdo a mi hijo", Ulises throws himself from the roof of his house due to the mistreatment he received from his abusive aunt.
* GroinAttack: In "Atención Al Cliente", Saúl gives Joaquín a well deserved one, after he sees him, mistreating his mother Mari Paz.
* HateSink: The show isn't without any detestable characters.
** "Dónde se metió mi hija" has Marisa's controlling, abusive husband, Raúl. Not only he doesn't care what his family thinks, wants or needs, if they don't work on his job on selling stuff, but also never really cared about them at all.
** In "Educación Especial" we have Pablo, the abusive father of Ramiro. He abuses his son because considers him a "marica" ("queer") and abuses him physically and verbally. He even brings a whore to his house to rape Ramiro while he's asleep in order to "man up" him. It doesn't help that he's the reason why Ramiro has troubles that last for the remainder of the episode. I mean, he only appears in the first 4 minutes of the episode and he's already hateable. He's never punished for his actions, the closest thing to a "karma" is being kicked from his house, but considering how he is, it's not like he would care.
** The episode "La sonrisa de Luz" has Luz's abusive mother. Not only she doesn't care what Luz needs if she doesn't do what she says, but she also never gave a shit about her because its her pregnancy with her that caused her own abusive father to kick her out of her home at a very young age.
** Genaro from "A pesar de la vida" proved himself to be this. He manipulates and abuses Paty, even makes her work like a slave to him and his mother. Even steals their son Faustino while she was still in a coma, and abuses him. Paty's alcoholic, abusive Magda as well, she not only doesn't care what Paty or Faustino (her brother) need, if they don't work to earn money, but also never really cared about them nor her mother, and didn't show any remorse when Faustino died. Heck! even after they received their karmas, they haven't changed, showing they will always be scumbags.
** Manuel from "Tu No Vales Nada", as well. Not only abuses his wife for being overweight, even neglecting his daughter, even on her Birthday, but also never cared about them, not even Tamara for the same reason. He never listens to anyone who tries to interven on his abuse and arguements with her. He also cheating on his wife, [[{{Hypocrite}} yet he accuses of doing the same on him,]] when he finds her with one of her psychiacrist on the restaurant.
** Ramon from "Doble Amenaza". Not only he doesn't care what Paola thinks or needs, if she doesn't obey and follow his StayInTheKitchen policy, but also never cared about his unborn child because, to him, they were an obstacle on his marriage, and believes himself to be Paola's only owner.
** Emilio and Miguel from "Justicia para mamá", not only doesn't care what Adela needs if she doesn't cather with his whims, but also killed her when they took her money away from her.
** Rolando in "Siempre es de Noche". He abuses of his wife, Denia when he has the chance, even at work and home. He often hits her, even for smaller things and denies control over her life. He has NoListeningSkills when Denia tries to reason with him or warn him over his lousy ways to solve their inversion problems. He also commits adultery and immediately goes into a rage when she makes an act of defiance, even if it's unintentional on her part.
* HeelRealization: At times happens in the telenovela:
** Ernesto from "Somos Todos Iguales" is mentioned that he started to regret how he treated Sergio... sadly his family doesn't want to see him for a while.
* HeelFaceTurn: Happens at times in the telenovela, some examples include:
** [[AloofBigBrother Lucas]] from "Somos Todos Iguales", at first he couldn't care less about his younger brother Sergio, he enables the bullying and abuse towards him and is even ashamed of him and calls him a "freak", when Sergio gets very injured, he stops being indifferent towards him and aplogizes, [[PetTheDog he even repairs the drawings his father destroyed previously]] [[BigBrotherInstinct and when his father starts abusing Sergio again, he this time defends him]].
** [[EnfantTerrible Andrés]] from "Balas En Casa", realizes that everything his father Ramon taught to him was wrong and regrets accidentally wounding his best friend Jaime and decides to grow up to be a nice kid, rather than be a male chauvinist like his father.
** [[AloofBigBrother Óscar]] and [[SlaveToPR his mother]] from "Ella o él". Óscar, after learning better about his sister Perla's condition, he goes to apologize to her, despite Marco's claims and offers her the chance of being a better brother. When Perla faces her parents in the end, after being chastised by Perla, Óscar and Marco, the mother realizes how wrong they had been, when her husband threatens her to leave her for good if she goes to apologize to Perla, she tells him, that she won't leave her daughter behind again and goes to beg for Perla's forgiveness. Thankfully in both cases Perla forgives both Óscar and her mother and decides to keep a distance relationship with them, because they understood her situation in the end.
** [[VillainProtagonist Itzel]] from "Es Que Nadie Me Hacía Caso", undergoes through an epic one. After touching rock-bottom and going with a psychologist, she in her own, realizes that inciting violence, watching violent videos and attempting to ruin the relationship between Virginia and her boyfriend is wrong and tries to become a better person. The reason why this is epic, is because Itzel realized it in her own and she tries to do atone for everything in her own, because she wanted. It's rare seeing a character atoning and realizing in it's own the mistakes they did.
* HeelFaceDoorSlam: Discussed. In "Somos Todos Iguales", María mentions that her husband Ernesto, started to regret the way he treated his family, especially Sergio, sadly his wife and sons don't want to see him for a while.
* HeteronormativeCrusader: There are many examples in this series.
** Dr. Gabriel from "Valiente" is one of the strongest examples. He condemns LGBT people and decries them as "sick" or "possessed".
** Ernesto from "Somos todos iguales" is a violent example.
* HoistByTheirOwnPetard: In "La Más Débil Del Mundo", Pepa films with her cellphone the moment she pushes Lorena from the stairs and shows it to everybody in the school just for laughs, the best part is that she leaves her cellphone unprotected believing that since she's the goddaughter of the principal she's untouchable. [[TheDogBitesBack Natalie, a student who was formerly bullied by her]], finds her cellphone and uploads the video around the world in revenge for all the bullying Pepa does, expiring her KarmaHoudiniWarranty and giving her the comeuppance she deserves.
* HolierThanThou: Alonso from "Mis Princesas" is claimed to be a rightful, decent gentleman, but in reality is a self-righteous, letcherous, abusive father and husband towards Brenda and Eloisa, who treats them like his servants rather than his princesses.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Any antagonist jerk, or abuses, aside of tormenting their victims, they keep up appearances. Telling them, especially if they are a parent/spouse to respect them for trying to oppose, despite disrepecting them with their abuse as well.
* JerkassRealization: Happens as well in the telenovela.
** Astrid from "Te Lo Comes Todo", after her sister Clara calls her out for blaming everybody but her about her issues and pressuring her daughter Emilia into eating everything and realizing that when you feel bad at times you don't feel hungry, she realizes how of a jerk she was with her daughter.
** Óscar from "Ella o él" realizes how much of a jerk he was to his sister Perla as he goes to the doctor that checked her to ask for the address of "Gabriela" (now Marco) to find her.
* KarmaHoudini: Yes, at times some characters from the telenovela, get away with their wrongdoings.
** Tomás from "El marido que soñé" doesn't really suffer the consequences of his actions when he abused his family, [[OffingTheOffspring killed his elder daughter, Delia]], and even assisting on the kidnapping of Virginia's daughter.
** Margarita, the lover of the boss of Magaly, from "La Más Débil Del Mundo", succesfully steals all the money from Magaly's boss and she seems to not suffer any consequences afterwards, even when Magaly reads the newspaper. And she alongside her lover abused Magaly through the entire episode.
** Pablo from "Educación Especial", never receives a karma for abusing his son Ramiro and bringing a whore to rape him while sleeping to "man up" him, setting the trouble that leads his son Ramiro, to get brainwashed, kidnapped and raped by Etelvina later in the episode. The only "karma" he receives is being kicked from his house, like if cared about it.
** [[FalseFriend Maria]] from "Ella o el" doesn't really held accountable for her constant gossiping about Perla's condition, which turned most of the community against her.
* KarmaHoudiniWarranty:
** Pepa from "La Más Débil Del Mundo" appears to get away with bullying Lorena and even throwing her from the stairs. Then her phone fell in the wrong hands and the video of the incident was leaked. That's when her warranty expired. She was shunned by school, punished by her parents, taking away every privilage she had from her,and even was forced to take therapy and go to jail.
-->'''Pepa:''' ¡Hola!\
(Mostrandole a Ms. Sonia)\
'''Ms. Sonia:''' (Smugly) Hola Pepa.\
'''Pepa:''' ¿Usted?
* LaserGuidedKarma: Take for sure, that the main antagonist of the episode will be receiving his comeuppance at the end of the episode, even if it's not the case at times.
** Aldana and Jessica from "Aulas Seguras", [[SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome are arrested and sent to jail for bullying and cutting the face of Julieta]].
** Pepa from "La Más Débil Del Mundo", is outcasted and bullied by her classmates after she threw Lorena from the stairs, this doesn't end there, her parents decide to punish her by taking every privilege she had and force her to go to therapy and of course, attend a time in jail.
** Ernesto from "Somos Todos Iguales", [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech is chastised by a barman]] for blaming his family and insulting his son Sergio. Later is mentioned by María that Ernesto is regretful and wants to return home, but she refuses, because she wants to see a change in him, when he does that, she'll open him with wide arms.
** In "A Pesar De La Vida", despite the two antagonists received their just desserts, they didn't changed their ways. Paty still feels bad for them and can't stop crying for their destinies:
*** Genaro is arrested and goes to jail for being an abusive father and husband.
*** Magda is now an alcoholic crippled old lady, that was abandoned and alienated by everybody. It's heavily implied she's an outcast for the rest of her neighborhood, as evidenced when a man looks weirded to her.
** Gaby from "Amo A Mi Hija O Pierdo A Mi Hijo", is arrested by the police and sent to jail, when her sister María learns she has been abusing her nephew Ulises.
** Raúl from "Víctima y victimaria" is arrested for abusing his family and torturing and murdering those he thought they were criminals.
* LoveMakesYouDumb: This trope also happens in the telenovela. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]] [[TruthInTelevision because in many cases the portrayal of the abusive couples, abusive boyfriends and overall every abusive relationship causes this to the victims]]. Some examples include:
** In "Sin moretones", Adelina is in love with Ubaldo, despite his constant abuse of her and refusing to eat the food she makes for him.
** Sofia from "¿Quien eres tú?" loves her husband Humberto, despite being a greedy, male-chauvinistic rapist who sexually assaults her wife, sister-in-law, Nora, and his female passagers on the taxi he drives, even hitting on any woman he passes by. The local priest and sister oppose to her blind love for him.
* LoveMakesYouEvil: This trope ends happening in the telenovela in certain episodes, examples include:
** Romina from "La Cuesta", is a thief [[ElderAbuse who mistreats her grandmother Pilar]], because of the influence of her boyfriend Gabriel, thankfully she comes back to her senses in the end.
* NoYou: This trope also happens in the telenovela, specially during discussions:
** In "Educación Especial", Pablo calls Ramiro "marica" ("queer"), because he considers him weak. Ramiro at one point fed up with his dad's abuse says that his dad is the queer. This goes as well you could expect.
-->'''Pablo:''' ¿Para que hago más? ¿Para que siga siendo un marica el imbecil? (Why I make more? So this imbecile keeps being a queer?)
-->'''Ramiro:''' ¡Tú eres el marica!" (You're the queer!)
-->(Cue Pablo getting angry and starts to abuse Ramiro again, until Griselda stops him and kicks him from the house.)
* OffscreenKarma: At times this trope ends happening time from time:
** Magaly's boss in "La Más Débil del Mundo", the last time we see him he and and his lover Margarita, the two receive a lecture from Magaly and we don't see them for the remainder of the episode. That doesn't mean we don't learn from them afterwards. Right after Pepa receives her just deserts and Lorena returns from the hospital, Magaly reads in the newspaper that her former boss' company is bankrupt and lost all of his money, because his lover stole all his money and left him to take the fall. Magaly gloats that this is what happens when you let your new date to take the control of a company.
** Joaquín from "Atención Al Cliente" it's another example, we don't see receiving a karma, but in the end of the episode he's arrested off-screen and he is put in a trial that will happen at the end... In any case it doesn't matter, because Saúl gave him a well-deserved groin attack halfway the episode, humilliating him in front of his workers who he regularly abused and remind him of that.
* {{Manchild}}: There are some examples applying both genders in the telenovela:
** Astrid from "Te Lo Comes Todo", is a good example. She behaves like a bratty teenager during the majority of the episode. There's even a scene where she locks up herself in her bedroom and demands Emilia (her daughter) to go away when she wants to speak to her. This scene makes you ask: "Who's the mother and who's the daughter?"
* MyBelovedSmother: Tania's mother, Amelia from "Mi madre, Mi demonio". She asserts her control over her daughter at every opportunity, trying to make every major decision for her in an attempt to guide her through the life path she wanted for herself.
* MommasBoy: Saúl from "Atención Al Cliente", is a good positive example. He loves his mother Mari Paz so much, he even kicked Joaquín in the groin, after he saw her mistreating her mom. Also, he helped his mom and her friends to find an organization to help them to fight for their rights, only because he despised the mistreatment her mom had.
* NoEnding: As mentioned above. The earliest episodes of "Lo Que Callamos Las Mujeres", lacked a proper conclusion, instead, the episode ended abruptly after the main conflict is settled, with only a telephone or a moral regarding what happened in the episode.
* NeverMyFault:
** In "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0C95FfCFGpc Muxe]]", Anselmo always blames his son Mario for everyone protecting the latter from the former.
** In "Somos todos Iguales", Ernesto refuses to accept his abuse is the reason why his family rebel against him to protect Sergio. He refuses to take a no for an answer to his constant abuse of his family (namely Sergio). When he is constantly called out on that, he flies in a rage. He even blames his whole family [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere for his own decision to leave home]], when Maria and Lucas refuse to come with him.
** Astrid from "Te Lo Comes Todo", constantly blames everybody for her issues, this is the main reason her daughter Emilia decks food inside her.
** Raúl from "Victima y victimaria" refuses to acknowledge his abuse is the reason his family is suffering and he is getting arrested for it. He refused to take no for an answer to his constant abuse of his family (namely Cecilia) and also his constant torture of convicts.
** Onofre, father of Micaela from "Niña de cartón" never acknowledges is his actions that lead to his wife Miguela and daughter Micaela to leave him. He refused to take a no for an answer to her continued abuse towards his family, namely Micaela.
** Aldana from "Aulas Seguras" never acknowledges is her actions that lead Julieta to finally call the police on her and Jessica. She refused to take a no for an answer to her continued bullying of Julieta. When Julieta called her out for it, Aldana resorts to assault her.
* NoSympathy: In "Atrapada", Rosario is suffering domestic abuse at the hands of Nicolás. Her abusive mother, Amanda believes she is living a happy married life and is cooing at a picture of her and her newborn daughter. (Rather than being concerned she is miserable and crying.)
* ParentsAsPeople: Again, given the down-to-earth nature of this series, it's not uncommon seeing this trope happening, is even mentioned that no parent knows how to be a good parent. Examples:
** Astrid from "Te Lo Comes Todo", she genuinely loves her daughter Emilia, the thing is that she doesn't know how to express it, she wants to have a healthy relationship with her and wants her happiness, sadly she has the bad habit of blaming everybody but her about her troubles.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: When talking with the principal of Ulises' school, María finds out that he started to display bully behavior, which leads her to suspect of her sister Gaby, who she left to babysit Ulises. Gaby even justified Ulises' sudden change of behavior as "fighting back", even when he started to attack ''other kids weaker than him.''
* ParentalNeglect: This trope happens at times, considering the nature of the telenovela.
** Flor's parents from "Atrapada En La Red" are a good example. They spend the all time arguing over their issues, even for minor ones, believing that the problems of adults are more important than the problems to the teens and neglect their daughter Flor, thinking it's impossible to deal with her, they don't even bother in asking how she is, how is doing. Even when Flor shows subtle sociopathic tendencies in her house, they don't bat an eye to it. It's not until the end of the episode that Flor almost goes to jail for almost ruining Susana's life and attempting of harming her in a park, when Susana's parents and a police officer explicitally have to tell them that they neglected Flor and that none of this would had happened if they cared more about her that the two realize they in fact, neglected her all these years.
* PlayingTheVictimCard: Oh god... where to start? There's so many examples in this telenovela!
** The Dr. Sergio Pacheco from "Por Nuestros Hijos", raped Jaime and many children in the kindergarden. Yet he tries to get out of any responsability by claiming he needs help and [[{{Wangst}} cries, whines and weeps at the tought he'll have to face any consequence from his actions]], [[FrameUp even goes as far to make his sister Marissa (who is a lawyer) imprison Daniela for attempting to sue the school]] [[NeverMyFault and even claims that Jaime was already a "trouble kid", even before being raped]], when according to [[MamaBear Daniela]] and [[CoolOldGuy Dr. Arturo]] (Jaime's grandfather) he wasn't like that before.
** Karen from "Límites", loves this trope. She always excuses being a prick with her sister and with everyone in general as "being a screw-up", a good-for-nothing that is always suffering and accuses her sister of being a "perfect daughter" who don't want that she find the happiness, if challenged. Then she cries about how she's worthless and fakes innocence so people forgive her and she can still keep taking advantage of them. Karen doesn't know how to put her life together, so she goes ruining the lives of everyone she knows, like her sister. When Iris finally confronts her in the climax, she reveals she resents her sister and father, because they meet her mother unlike her and she loathes them for that, that's why she behaves like that with everyone, because she resents the accomplishments of others or what she perceives as accomplishments. She also doesn't know how to anything, because she quits it for any petty reason, as result, she's almost 30 and she haven't even finished College and is unemployed.
** In the episode "Culpable", a man tried to molest Delia on the bus and she pushed him away, scarring him. But he acts as a victim to her when the police arrived and she was taken away instead for scarring a citizen.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Happens at times in this telenovela.
** In "La Más Débil Del Mundo", Magaly tells her misogynist boss how he and his girlfriend Margarita are the kinds of people that harm the country and how he is committing a mistake.
** In "Somos Todos Iguales", a barman calls out Ernesto for being both a homophobic and abusive father that blames everyone, but himself.
-->'''Ernesto:''' (Riéndose) Esta va por mi familia, porque me echaron de mi casa como si fuera un perro. (Se toma el vaso) ¡Orále!\
'''Barman:''' No, ya bebiste demasiado (Se lleva la botella)\
'''Ernesto:''' (Riéndose) Échame otra, ¡Échale! ¡Ándale! ¡Yo soy bien macho! Y aguanto, soy bien hombrecito, ¡No como el marica de mi hijo! ¡Porque sabes de eso se trata! Mi hijo es un marica ¡Me corrieron de la casa porque lo quise hacer hombrecito! ¡POR ESO ME CORRIERON DE MI CASA!\
'''Barman:''' ¡Tú hijo, es tú hijo! ¿Qué importa si es gay, heterosexual, es verde o está rayado? ¡ES TU HIJO Y PUNTO!
** In "Tú No Vales Nada", Lorna, the secretary of Manuel, tells him that he's a useless man and she was only for him by money and who would date him formally, to begin with.
-->'''Manuel:''' ¿Y tu que haces aquí?\
'''Tamara:''' Esto. (Le entrega una carpeta)\
'''Manuel:''' ¿Qué es esto?\
'''Tamara:''' Son los papeles del divorcio.\
'''Manuel:''' (Se ríe) Estás loca.\
'''Tamara:''' No, firmalos y tendremos un divorcio civilizado y equitativo y si no los firmas, me voy a un divorico necesario y te demando por violencia doméstica.\
'''Manuel:''' Estas diciendo puras estúpideces gorda infame, fodonga ¿crees que vas a sobrevivir un día sin mí?\
'''Tamara:''' Mmm... (A Lorna) ¿Y tu lo amas?\
'''Lorna:''' Ni loca, yo no tendría una relación formal con él. (Manuel está sorprendido) Y tu no me veas con esa cara, que desde el principio sabías que solo me acostaba contigo sólo por dinero. No sirves para nada más.\
'''Manuel:''' Estas despedida zorra.\
'''Tamara:''' Tienes dos días para firmar creéme, más te vale que lo hagas.\
'''Manuel:''' (Sonríe en incredulidad) Largense las dos de aquí, ¡par de zorras!\
'''Lorna:''' Si estúpido, no vales ni un centavo y ¿sabes qué? Tu esposa tiene razón, firmale los papeles.\
'''Manuel:''' Largáte, en una esquina me encuentro otra como tú. (Hace bolas los papeles y los tira a la basura)
** In "Aulas Seguras", Julieta gives one to Aldana, calling her for doing it out of anger because her father and siblings are in jail, but unlike other examples, it backfires and only makes Aldana become more violent. Later the teacher gives Aldana one for refusing to apologize to Julieta, after she cut her cheek.
** In "Balas En Casa", Susana does this twice with her abusive husband Ramón, in both of them, she calls her husband for his male chauvinistic behavior and about how he corrupted their son Andrés to be a male chauvinistic like him. In the second speech, she also calls him out on how he's a coward that only picks people weaker than him and that Andrés will grow up to be an actual man, unlike him.
** In "Amo A Mi Hija O Pierdo A Mi Hijo", María tells her sister Gaby that she doesn't have right to abuse Ulises or any child or any person in the planet and that she can't change anyone, of course this becomes an ignored ephiphany for Gaby and she's more bewildered that her sister decided to call the police on her for "correcting" her son and that she's sick like him.
** In "Te Lo Comes Todo", Clara gives Astrid one, after she starts blaming Emilia for preferring being with Clara rather than her, Clara gets fed up with her sister's habit of blaming everybody but herself and calls her out in this as well in how she would be grateful in that her daughter is alive and that she has to put her life together, because if she doesn't, then she'll be alone.
** In "¿Dónde Quedó Mi Infancia?", Carla gives to her mother Amanda an epic one. When she attempts to bring her back to her home, Carla decides that she's not only going to listen, but she'll will finally answer and calls her for bassically turning her into the "maid" of her stepfather and stepbrothers and how her mother only cares for her couples and never cared for her and if she loves every men before her, she can have them, she doesn't want to see her again, then Amanda says that they left her behind and she's alone in the house. Carla only tells her that now her mom will learn what does it feel being unloved. Nevertheless Carla regrets telling her mom that, but she still keeps her word of not coming back, until her mom changes.
** In "Ella o él", Marco grabs Toño by the collar of his shirt and calls him out for his chauvinistic bluffing, and tells him to go play thug somewhere else.
-->'''Marco:''' (agarra a Toño de la camisa) ¡Yo no sé quién te has creído por qué te crees que eres mejor que nosotros! Al final, eres un animal, una porquería que necesita de sus amigos por que sin ellos, sin ellos no eres nadie. Perla se está enfrentando a la vida, y lo último que necesita es un chamaquito que le complique su camino. Así que vete a jugar al matoncito a otro lado. Y vete a jugar a otro lado. (arroja a Toño hacia Perla)
** In "Límites", after many infractions, Iris finally gives her sister [[AnnoyingYoungerSibling Karen]] a well deserved one, after she had sex with a co-worker, forgot pick Sol (Iris' daughter) from the kindergarden and attempted to hit with Iris' husband. Asking why she keeps ruining her life, what she did to her? She finally answers that she resented both her sister Iris and her father, because they met mom unlike her and she resented them for it(Is implied Karen's birth caused the demise of the mother) and for that she wants to ruin the life of everyone she considers they have a "perfect life". [[UngratefulBastard Iris then tells her everything she did to her and how she's been giving chances of improving her life and help her, practically in a silver tray and she does nothing but complain, whine and throw them to the garbage]]. [[{{Wangst}} When Karen attempts to gain sympathy again]], [[ToughLove Iris decides to kick her off from her life, telling her that she don't want to see her again and that her love end here, until she pulls her stuff together]].
-->'''Sergio:''' Iris déjame explicarte por favor.\
'''Iris:''' De una vez ¿no?\
'''Sergio:''' (Arrepentido) Mi amor (Iris se hace a un lado)\
'''Karen:''' Tu marido besa bastante bien-- (Iris le da una cachetada a Karen)\
'''Iris:''' ¡QUIERO QUE HAGAS TU MALETA, TE LARGUES AHORA MISMO DE MI CASA Y NO TE QUERO VOLVER A VER OTRA VEZ EN MI VIDA!\
'''Karen:''' ¡Somos hermanas!\
'''Iris:''' ¿Ahora te acuerdas? ¿Porque te empeñas en lastimarme? ¿Qué quieres de mí?\
'''Karen:''' Tú tuviste la vida fácil, ¡yo no!\
'''Iris:''' ¿Fácil? ¿De que hablas?\
'''Karen:''' Al menos conociste a mamá, al menos podías compartir eso con papá, ¡yo siempre me sentí excluida entre ustedes dos! y te envidié por eso. Te envidié tanto.\
'''Iris:''' Yo no tengo la culpa Karen.\
'''Karen:''' No sabes lo que es sentir ese agujero dentro, ese vacío.\
'''Iris:''' No lo sé, pero lo que sí se, es que te cuidé y te traté muy bien. ¡MEREZCO EL MISMO TRATO! Hasta que aprendas eso, no te quiero más en mi casa y en mi vida.\
'''Karen:''' (Llorando) ¡Perdoname por ser así! ¡Te pido perdón! Yo no se porque hago las cosas que hago, ¡soy horrible! ¡dame otra oportunidad! por favor.\
'''Iris:''' Te pagué dos meses en un buen hotel, ¡Laura te consiguió negocio en el gimnasio de su marido! ¡Y CUANDO ESTES DISPUESTA A HACERLO Y CAMBIAR COMO TU DICES, TE PAGO UNA TERAPIA! Pero hasta aquí, llegó mi amor.
* ShutUpHannibal: Most antagonists get to eat their words by most people. For example:
** In "Somos Todos Iguales" Ernesto rants over his family turning against him and Sergio being gay. The barman won't have it and instead tells him off for his homophobic, abusive ways.
** In "Balas En Casa", when Ramón starts to insult Andrés, after he starts to feel worried about going to jail for accidentally shooting Jaime with a gun, Susana screams at him to shut up in retalation.
* SlutShaming: It happens in several episodes when a female character gets involved into any kind of sexual incident, she is vilified by many people for it.
* StickyFingers: In the episode "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jP4dLFZfC-8 Nadie mira]]", a girl named Alejandra is always accused of stealing. However, it's revealed to be her best friend, Susana, who does it to make her parents stop fighting.
* StrawMisogynist: This has a lot of chauvinism on most men and there are episodes about it.
** Ernesto from "Somos Todos Iguales" believes men should be manly and women should obey. He takes pride on having a manly son like Lucas and often abuses Sergio for being gay and tries to force him to man up. His family eventually got fed with him and rebel against him.
** Ramon from "Doble Amenaza" believes men are superior and should rule and women only obey and serve men. He despises every feminist, as he was angry his female boss bossing him around and fire him from his job, and constantly rants about Paola's sister, who opposes the DomesticAbuse he inflicts on Paola herself.
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: This trope happens regularly, considering the down-to-earth nature of the telenovela.
** At the end of "Somos Todos Iguales", it is mentioned Ernesto is feeling remorse over abusing his family, namely Sergio, but his abuse was too much for them they don't want to do anything with him for a while. Even if you feel remorse over your action, you don't automatically get accepted back into the family for them.
** In "Balas En Casa", we have many examples:
*** Andrés accidentally wounds Jaime, who is his best friend, thanks to a loose bullet when he wanted that Jaime touched the gun, and is in risk of going to jail. Thankfully Jaime woke up and cleared Andrés name saying it was an accident. In any case Andrés can't go to jail because he's still an underage (he's not even 10) and the lawyer explains that, but he must be subjected to a trial in which his behavior must change. Instead is Ramón the one who goes to jail because he taught Andrés how to use a gun, besides his abuse. Because of course, that's called "minor corruption", if you teach a kid that mistreating and using guns is awesome, you'll end going to jail for teaching said kid that.
*** Despite Andrés is regretful of hurting Jaime. Jaime's mother mentions that her son is so traumatized for the event and that is the best for him if they simply move out and that Jaime stay and doesn't see Andrés at least for a while, as this is why they're moving out of the city and going to the country to live with Jaime's grandparents for some time. Yeah, despite you're regretful for their actions, you don't earn automatically a forgiveness, you can cause a deep trouble that only time can solve.
*** Both Susana and her sister are pretty aware that sending Ramón to jail won't automatically redeem him or make him at least regret his actions, because people doesn't change from one day to other. But Susana is more concerned that at least he can't abuse anyone in jail, because Ramón is a dirty coward who only abuses people weaker than him and that it's highly likely that Ramón meets meaner people that him that will make him beg for mercy and turn him into his "playmate". Obviously if you think that you're the meanest, is because you haven't meet other scumbags worse than you, obviously you don't know what are you bragging about. This is implied to be true when Susana at the end visits her ex-husband Ramón in jail and notices him more submissive and doesn't want to talk how he's treated in jail. Susana realizes that Ramón was likely abused to submission and can't mess with men, because he's a dirty coward.
** In "Es Que Nadie Me Hacía Caso", despite atoning for her behaviour, Virgina refuses to accept Itzel back in her life, because Itzel really shattered her trust and attempted to ruin the relationship between her and her boyfriend. Even if Itzel becomes a nice person who decides to turn over a new leaf. Virginia still has to work in forgiving her or not and accepting her back in her life. Again, if you do damage like that and change for the better, you still have to give time to those who were hurt by your actions in the past.
* SympathyForTheDevil: Believe or not, this trope happens at times in the telenovela.
** In "Aulas Seguras", even after Aldana cut her cheek, Julieta still feels bad about her, her friends are surprised she's still sad about her, specially after being bullied by her. Julieta thinks is sad that Aldana had to ruin her life this way for not knowing how to put her life together, even when she meets Aldana's mother at the end, she tells her that she doesn't held any grudges to her and wishes she could recover and have a healthy life after being released from jail.
** In "A Pesar De La Vida", an adult Paty decides to visit her former home to visit her mother Magda. She starts to feel bad and cry for her, when she sees that Magda is now an abandoned alcoholic old woman, that is alienated from the rest of the neighbours and is crippled. She also feels bad for Genaro, because despite they received their karmas, they didn't changed.
* ThickerThanWater: This trope at times happens in the telenovela, justified for it's family oriented nature. Some examples include:
** In "Límites" this trope is deconstructed. Iris always forgives her sister Karen, doesn't matter how much of a prick she is, because "Karen is her little sister and has to support her", Karen knows very well this and keeps ruining her sister's life and guilt trips Iris everytime she calls her out for her actions. The friends of Iris know perfectly that Karen is a horrible sister and plead to Iris to open her eyes and do something. It's not until the climax, where: Karen attempts to have sex in the office with a co-worker, forgets picking Sol from the kindergarden and attempts to hit with her husband that Iris has enough and kicks her from her life, until she puts her stuff together.
* TooDumbToLive:
** Sofía from "Selfie" is a jarring example, she allows Miguel to humilliate and abuse her at every chance he has so she can keep the cellphone he gave her. Miguel blackmails her by threatening to take away her phone if she doesn't do what he wants. These actions include having her act like a dog in school and shout in the streets that she had sex with him and his friends. The worst part is that if Sofía a little love to herself she could had prevented all of this.
* TransEqualsGay: In the episode "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGOsVsDMVbY Amo a mi hija o pierdo a mi hijo]]", Ulises' mother thinks like this regarding her son feeling like a girl.
* TheUnapologetic: This trope at times happens in the telenovela.
** In "Aulas Seguras", Aldana thinks she has nothing of what to apologize when Julieta tells her in class that she decided to call the police to arrest Aldana for cutting her cheek. The teacher calls Aldana for her lack of empathy and remorse saying that instead of trying to play thief, she should apologize, which Aldana still denies. It's not like Julieta cared about getting an apology anyway. She only wants that Aldana and Jessica pay for what they did to her and not do the same to other people like her.
* TheyLookJustLikeEveryoneElse: Justified because it's down-to-earth nature, but jarring, because all antagonist you could find in real life doesn't look so out of normal. Some examples include:
** Flor from "Atrapada en la Red". Who would believe that a fat girl, with a friendly appearance, obsessed with computers could become a sociopath enough to not only commit vandalism, but also to almost ruin the social life of another girl.
*** Context: she did everything "in name of the friendship" she felt with Susana. Things go downhill when Susana gets fed up with her antics and blocks her from her social network, causing her to snap, this leads to almost ruin Susan's life and when they meet in person, she brings a freaking album with ''photos of her face pasted over Susana's friends'', claiming it's a "testimony of the moments they spend together" and Susana calls her insane. Then she tries to force Susana to be her friend and grabs her hand while shouting, "Susana, you must have to be my friend!". Thankfully Susana's parents came with her and were close and saved her daughter before Flor could harm her and Flor redeemed and become a better person after her parents learned they neglected her all this time. But imagine if Susana's parents arrived late! Flor is clearly one of the scariest characters of "Lo Que Callamos Las Mujeres".
* ReformedButRejected:
** At the end of "Somos Todos Iguales", it is mentioned Ernesto is feeling remorse over abusing his family, namely Sergio, but his abuse was too much for them they don't want to do anything with him for a while.
** Despite Andrés is regretful of hurting Jaime. Jaime's mother mentions that her son is so traumatized for the event and that is the best for him if they simply move out and that Jaime stay and doesn't see Andrés at least for a while, as this is why they're moving out of the city and going to the country to live with Jaime's grandparents for some time.
* UnsettlingGenderReveal: In "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-YMkoPtFbY Ella o él]]" (She or He), upon going to a gynecologist with her mother due to a problem downstairs, Perla is diagnosed with male [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudohermaphroditism pseudohermaphroditism]]. Upon realizing this, her father Pedro resents her as a "freak" and threatened to beat her up with a belt. If it wasn't for her (then-unsuspecting) brother Óscar jumping to her defense and forcing him to leave the house, she would end up maimed or dead.
** To make matters worse, Toño (the man with the mohawk-like cut) comes to her house with his buddies to beat her up thanks to a heavily drunk Óscar telling the gossiper [[FalseFriend María]] about Perla's situation.
* WantedAGenderConformingChild: Anselmo from "Muxe" who complains and condemns the fact that his son Mario acts like a girl, rather than a boy. He even proclaims he'd rather have a dead son than a "weird" son.
* WeWillMeetAgain: Happens at times in the telenovela, not that this could matter, since all episodes are episodic, except the multi-parter ones.
** In "Aulas Seguras", after Julieta tells Aldana and Jessica that she called the police on them for cutting her cheek and overall bullying, upong realizing that Julieta it's not bluffing, when the principal alongside some officers arrive to school to arrest Aldana and Jessica. Aldana tells Julieta that she will regret calling the police on her and she's going to pay big time for it.
* {{Yandere}}: Considering the down-to-earth tone of the telenovela, seeing this trope happening is quite jarring for some. Some examples include:
** Flor from "Atrapada en la Red" is a platonic example. During the duration of the episode she finds Susana's blog and befriends her, but takes her "friendship" to extreme levels and feels she has to defend Susana's "honor" from anybody who wants to abuse her. Things go downhill when Susana tried of her antics decides to block her. Which causes her to snap and defamate her worldwide. When Susana calls her to tell her that she's unfriending her for good, in person. Flor brings an album with PHOTOS OF FLOR PASTED OVER SUSANA'S FRIENDS CALLING IT A "TESTIMONY OF THE MOMENTS THEY SPENT TOGETHER". Susana reacts scared, with reason and calls her insane. Flor then decides to force Susana to be her friend, grabbing her by her hand and yelling: "SUSANA YOU MUST HAVE TO BE MY FRIEND!". Luckily Susana's parents came with her and stopped Flor before she could harm Susana.
** Etelvina from "Educación Especial" is a quite jarring example. During the duration of the episode, she starts to develop a lust for Ramiro, her student that eventually evolves into an obsession. She even calls him "Mi amor" ("My love") and "¡Te amo!" ("I love you!") as if he were her boyfriend. The worst part is that she kidnaps him, rapes him, and brainwashes him to keep him with her. Even she comes as far as making him record that her mother Griselda and godmother Zulma abuse and rape him every day, something that is a big lie.
* YoureInsane: This trope happens at times in the telenovela.
** A variation of this trope happens in "Atrapada En La Red", right after Flor shows Susana a photo album with Flor's face pasted over Susana's friends as a "testimony of moments they spent together". Susana gets creeped so much she says that Flor is sick.
-->'''Susana:''' ¡Estás enferma! (You're sick!)
** In "Atrapada" When Nicolás reveals to Rosario that he had a son with another woman, who he already married with before Rosario, and that he lied about being lonely without any friends and family. Rosario becomes furious at him for his lies and calls him crazy and sick.
* YouAreNotAlone: Considering the nature of the show, this trope is often the moral of every chapter. Also, some episodes end with the protagonist(s) attempting to help other characters in the same situation with them after they learned their lesson.
** At the end of "Educación Especial", Ramiro is helping and counseling a kid named Jorgito, who is suffering the same issues as him and explaining what things are right and wrong and that everybody should listen and understand him, regarding the issues of sexual violence he suffered during the episode.
