1	A family drama loosely adapted from Alcanzar una estrella (To Reach a Star), the series follows high school student Loren Tate, a shy high school senior who dreams of being a famous singer-songwriter and Eddie Duran, a celebrity rock star. When Eddie is pressured by his manager and label to make some new songs, he decides to use it as an opportunity to launch a songwriting contest in which he can select a fan to collaborate with on a new song. The shy Loren is reluctant to send in one of her songs, thinking they and her singing ability isn’t good enough, but with the help of her sassy best friend Melissa and cool single mom, she ends up submitting her song and winning the contest. As Loren and Eddie grow closer, they both begin to discover new things about themselves and slowly become closer.

3	The show, in the spirit of a traditional soap opera, also focuses on a number of characters including Loren’s friend Melissa; Adriana, a high school bully who antagonizes Loren; Phil, Melissa’s older brother who is mixed up with some criminal activities; Max, Eddie’s father, who is suspicious of Eddie’s fiance Chloe, a model who is secretly having affair with Tyler, a struggling actor who has a personal vendetta against Eddie.
