* In the Mesoamerican-inspired kingdom of Teca, the young Princess Maya yearns to be an Eagle Warrior like her mother. However, when vengeful gods threaten all of humanity, Maya journeys to find the three prophesied warriors who can save the kingdom. She would learn that her biological mother was the death goddess Lady Micte, the result of a fling with her mortal father King Teca. Micte's husband, the ruthless and power-hungry Lord Mictlan, sought to sacrifice her to gain great power and sent many deities after her. An emissary, Zatz, was initially tasked to bring Maya but fell for her and vowed to join her quest to destroy Lord Mitclan. Like her he was a demigod, his father being the bat god Camazotz. Through the power of weapons forged of god blood, even a demigod could slay a deity. Along with their friends Maya and Zatz would successfully defeat Mictlan, uniting the four kingdoms against the evil gods. However the battle would come at a high cost with practically every deity involved, along with Maya and Zayz, dying to stop the evil war god once and for all. After their deaths, Maya and Zatz would go on to become incarnations/deities of the sun and the moon respectively.
* Applies to both
** The ascension of Maya and Zatz under the trope SemiDivine was a surprise, albeit a somewhat pleasant one, for two reasons. First, when it comes to candidates for the trope, people were mainly thinking ''Myth/ClassicalMythology'' and not Meso-American deities as the parents. After all, the Greek gods are ''[[ImmortalityPromiscuity notorious]]'' for the demigods they leave behind. Second, it was thought their ascension would be awkward because they're apparently past lives of the already present Manalo Sanchez and Maria Posada. However, given Aang and Korra co-exist in the Trope Pantheon, and the House of Pantheon/TimeAndTemporality is a thing it wasn't unexpected. Their incarnating into the Trope Pantheon took them out of the power from being a sun and moon god, however they were already formidable warriors. When entering the pantheon they were formally met by La Muerte and Xibalba, who were very happy to see them. Why? Asides from respecting their relationship, Lady Micte was La Muerte's sister, making her Maya's aunt. Xibalba was Maya's uncle by marriage...and technically speaking, her step-uncle. Yeah...there are reasons why they are in the "pitied by" section when it comes to interactions.
** The reason why Xibalba held trepidations towards the ascension of the demigods is because of the sins of the brother, Lord Mictlan. His brother thirsted for power, becoming a deranged tyrant of mostly Mayan gods and is directly responsible for the death of most of the people Maya and Zatz cared about. [[CompleteMonster His evil was comparable to that of Ah Puch]]...not the trio of enigmatic gods who act as guides, who [[InNameOnly merely held the name]]. And yes, the real Ah Puch considered that an insult, rooted by Lord Mictlan and laughed at Xibalba and La Muerte's regrets...[[{{Understatement}} he's kind of an asshole]] and the demigod couple weren't enthusiastic at learning he beat them to the bunch at being pantheon-worthy. With the relative obscurity of Myth/MayanMythology, none of the other gods who would go against Mictlan had ascended, not even Zatz beloved father Camzotz[[note]][[AdaptationalHeroism who in the actual myths was more of an asshole]][[/note]]. There was one Mayan god present that wasn't evil, though...the rain god Chaac. He was fortunate to not be anywhere near Mictlan's warpath and felt guilty he wasn't involved. The Prince of Bats told him he shouldn't beat himself up over it, as he's thankful to see a Mayan god spared from Mictlan's actions.
** The two have also encountered [[Myth/AztecMythology Aztec gods]]; [[AdaptationalAttractiveness a far prettier]] Cipactli. As [[TokenGoodTeammate one of the only Aztec gods to avoid]] HumanSacrifice, Quetzacoatl approached them in one of his ([[GenderBender her]]) [[VideoGame/FateGrandOrder fairer forms]], noting that a [[GodOfGood goddess of good]] called Cosmos had bribed the House of Pantheon/DeathAndPostmortem to not care about two incarnations of the same soul freely existing in the Trope Pantheon. His ArchEnemy Tezcatlipoca watched the two, not intervening as cruel as he may be [[SympathyForTheHero he holds a great deal of respect and compassion for them]] for their heroism against corrupt Mesoamerican gods. Cosmos confessed that after seeing their accomplishments, she wanted to recruit for help fighting other evil gods and similar entities. Having always enjoyed a good scrap but mature enough to not be a blowhard about it, Maya simply asked her "who do you have in mind?"
*** The first pick on who Cosmos wanted help against was Bandos. Not Darkseid, not YHVH, but Bandos. While they hate the two tyrant gods who dominate and/or destroy other deities in their quest to be extreme and reminiscent of their ArchEnemy, they are way above their weight class and Cosmos wouldn't deserve her position if [[WeHaveReserves she sent new recruits to the meat grinder]]. Bandos is quite reminiscent of Lord Mictlan, being [[JerkassGods a psychopathic war god]], making him a natural enemy. This of course brought up a question: what about Ares, the iconic WarGod. Well, that depends on his mood. As the noble Roman god Mars, or even by some Spartan standards he doesn't want to get involved and likes that they have a good relationship with one another. But if we're talking about his more standard asshole interpretations, ''especially'' [[AdaptationalVillainy when he manipulates Kratos]], oh he's absolutely right below Mictlan himself on their shitlist.
*** One god, almost on cue, made a grandstand decrying them as abominations of the highest perversion [[HalfBreedDiscrimination for being half-god, half-mortal]]; Zamasu. Like Mictlan Zamasu committed deicide against those who would go against his vision, [[NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist despite supposedly making a utopia for their kind]]. The fact his Goku Black component took a mortal's body as a permanent reminder of mortal sins[[note]]actually because he wanted Goku's power, but he's melodramatic by nature[[/note]] is just another example of hypocrisy by the mad Kaioshin. The Kaioshins of Universe 7 were glad to see the two ascend as a force against cruel gods. As will become apparent, they are hardly the only literal divine friends of the two. One couple rooting for their ascension was Mister Miracle and Big Barda. Zatz having once worked for the bad guys but reforming and opposing his former boss, having fallen in love with the other side, was a tale they were quite familiar with even if the details were different.
*** Other divine beings from more traditional pantheons count as their enemy. Apophis is perhaps the most blatant, being a monstrous giant snake [[HatedByAll who the entire Egyptian pantheon is united against]]. His appearance and temperament reminds Maya of the OneWingedAngel form Mictlan took, and thus the very form she sacrificed her life to strike at his heart. Typhon is another great monster-god, though not as loathsome and more akin to the father of all mythological {{Kaiju}}. Cronus is another enemy; though his ambitions are usually not as myopic as Lord Mictlan, being more about re-establishing his old role as king of the gods, no-one who literally EatsBabies to secure his throne is going to be friends with Maya and Zatz. Maya especially, since the only reason she wasn't sacrificed to Mictlan as an infant is because Lady Micte convinced him she'd make him stronger when grown as an attempt to stall for time.
*** While they aren't strictly divine, Sutekh the Destroyer and Father are in their enemies list. Like Mictlan, Father sacrifices plenty of souls in order to increase his powers. He became this powerful HumanoidAbomination by sacrificing the entire state of Xerxes and tried to gain the powers of [[Pantheon/SourcesOfInformation the Truth]] for himself. Sutekh [[PhysicalGod might as well be a god]], and as Mictlan slaughtered much of his pantheon, Sutekh [[GenocideFromTheInside wiped out all but a handful of his own race]] in his mad quest [[OmnicidalManiac to eliminate all other life]].
** Though they are demigods, the two aren't legible for Camp Half-Blood as that's [[Myth/ClassicalMythology another pantheon]]. They're quite welcome to visit, and often do to meet up with Percy Jackson. He has his own storied history of fighting for and against the gods, saving the world from godly tyrants, and all that jazz...it just ended up a lot better for him. Maya was glad that despite their reputation as JerkassGods, none of his pantheon [[HalfBreedDiscrimination insulted her for being half-mortal]]. Then again, that'd be quite rich from them. Neither of them are all too fond of the Greek's TopGod Zeus, though. While he's usually not outright evil, he's a capricious and hypocritical god [[ReallyGetsAround who sires many a demigod]] (sometimes [[DoubleStandardRapeDivineOnMortal without the informed consent of the mortal]]) and isn't exactly attentive at trying to prevent his wife [[AffairBlameTheBastard blaming them]] [[BlameTheParamour or their mother]]. For his part, Zeus does respect the two's efforts, while also admitting it's a bit amusing his bloodline wasn't picked for [[SemiDivine the trope]]. [[SelfDeprecation Of course, he muses that might be the point; it would've been a cliche to do so]].
** While no longer incarnated as the sun and the moon, the two still recall their role as gods of those celestial bodies and they have a decent working relationship with the alicorn princesses. They also have a working relationship with the Greek deities, one of which (Selene) shares a name with Princess Luna in her Roman form. However they're not exactly friends because asides from Helios [[JerkassGods the other three can be rather dickish at times]]. After having to deal with Mictlan, they don't exactly have a high tolerance for JerkassGods, ''especially'' Maya. Gorr the God Butcher tried to reach out to them, albeit conflictedly since they're part mortal yet part god, trying to convince them the universe would be safer [[KillTheGod if there was simply no god]]. After all, their setting recovered after the depletion of many Mesoamerican gods. Maya told him to shove it since as much trouble as gods have caused, she knows they aren't all like [[TheSociopath Mictlan]] and she has no intention of [[HeWhoFightsMonsters becoming a self-righteous deicidal maniac]] like Gorr has. On a lighter note, the two have an amiable relationship with Nebby. In its final, mascot legendary forms it is either an emissary of the sun (Solgaleo) or moon (Lunala). For bonus points, Lunala is bat, which is perfectly fitting as far as Zatz is concerned.
** The Acolyte and the Radiant Goddess think they're a cute couple. So does Persephone, who's into the "dark, brooding kind" if Hades is any indication. As Maya is the biological daughter of a death goddess, she's a source of interest for Ereshkigal, and as mentioned Hades. Admittedly the couple don't always get along with the lord of the underworld since [[EverybodyHatesHades sometimes he's in a scheming mood to take power from other gods]], but when written more accurately he's on good terms with the two...mainly Zatz, because he likes his aesthetic more. His half-brother Chiron has tried to act as a teacher for Maya and Zatz, as there's Greek fighting styles they aren't familiar with. One of the reasons he wants to do this is to prepare them for a new potential {{Gotterdammerung}}, the kind Loki's brood embodies. The couple are wary of them, but it's more of a general caution than anything heated. Given their own history one might think they might be a bit annoyed at Miguel and Tulio [[GodGuise pretending to be gods]] towards native Mexicans, but they take it in good humor and respect that they ultimately cared more for the people than the gold, becoming heroes in their own right.
* Applies to Maya
** Like Princess Bean, Maya was a textbook RebelliousPrincess, though not with the same kind of vices as she's from a kid's show[[note]][[WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids yes, despite being the result of adultery and having Mictlan for]] an ArchEnemy[[/note]]. Compared to Zatz she doesn't have much in the way of godly superpowers asides from her skill at fighting and cool sword, however she still has a better than normal healing factor and strength, being able to easily fix broken bones. Unlike Bean, both her step and biological mother turned out to be good in the end, but as the two get along she tries to avoid pushing any buttons and risk upsetting her new friend. That being said, it took some time to accept Lady Micte as family and not an enemy. The fact that Micte was initially onboard with sacrificing her [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone only to regret ever doing so]] and protecting her from her husband doesn't help. With this in mind, evil mothers really tick her off. She has a bit in common with the original Gilgamesh in that she started as a brash SemiDivine character before significantly maturing as a person, though she was never the tyrant [[HeelFaceTurn he used to be]]. A bit put off [[DroitDuSeigneur by his past crimes]], but she recognizes the 2/3rds god, 1/3rd man has become a heroic ReasonableAuthorityFigure. His egotistical ''Fate'' counterpart can eat it, though.
** Jon Snow was surprised to see that her step-mother was happy to accept her [[AffairBlameTheBastard considering how Catelyn saw her]]. Maya was shocked to learn that her father had cheated on her adoptive mother, and she did lash out on him, [[GoodStepmother but she loved her as much as her biological children]]. And despite the betrayal, the two made up and were HappilyMarried in the end. Much like Josuke, Maya doesn't have any BastardAngst from where she came from. Given how well she was treated by Queen Teca, Maya's incensed by Hera for how she acts towards her husband's illegitimate children, saying no matter how shamed she feels by his affairs and how unable she's able to punish him specifically [[FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse that's no reason]] [[MisplacedRetribution to vent her anger on the kids]]. While somewhat flummoxed by how her parents could reconcile, and even her adoptive and biological mother getting along, Hera doesn't hold anything against Maya personally and doesn't mind if the princess vents. [[Pantheon/LoveAndAffection Aphrodite]] sees it as yet more proof Hera should get off her high horse.
** Like the Luminary things changed forever [[ABirthdayNotABreak with her birthday]]. Not a Dangerous16thBirthday, but only a year off. She's not as much of TheChosenOne as he is, but she was prophesized to slay Lord Mictlan alongside three great heroes, and she did succeed albeit [[HeroicSacrifice at the cost of her life]]. Fortunately he has not followed her to the Trope Pantheon...unfortunately, neither did her friends. They became Zatz' friends too, and the two decided to go out and find other heroes. She found the Xiaolin Dragons and the Planeteers, a four person and five person multinational team, reminiscent of how her friends were heroes gathered from different kingdoms. By extension, Captain Planet is an ally. Maya is close friends with Huey, Dewie and Lewie as they remind her of her brothers, the Jaguar Triplets.
** Before her CharacterDevelopment, Maya wasn't too different from Kuzco. She was a prideful, selfish child who only cared for vengeance, and lied to her friends in order to avenge her brothers. Well OK, maybe not as bad as Kuzco before he grew as a person, [[TheCaligula considering the power he had]]. Still, Maya and Kuzco are friends, and the two have used their political influence to have their kingdoms grow together as allies. Perhaps more interesting is her outlook on Kratos. Another demigod and one with a really unpleasant war god involved in their StartOfDarkness, he had waged war against the gods. While many gods he's killed honestly had it coming, some do not and a ''lot'' of innocents were caught in the cross-fire. Kratos has significantly matured with age and is aiming to be better, focusing his wrath on those who actually deserve it, but he understands why both Maya and Zatz have apprehension working with him. Still, they try to work with him anyway in part being one of many who wish to be a positive influence on him and also in part to help make the gods who actually deserve to pay pay.
* Applies to Zatz
** The LonghairedPrettyBoy Zatz had [[DarkAndTroubledPast a darker childhood]] than his partner. His mother was killed by monsters as an infant/toddler. Lord Mictlan took out his eye ''as a child''. His father Camazotz was pressured to be Mictlan's top general, and when he quickly rebelled Mictlan killed him in front of Zatz. Camazotz was a NobleTopEnforcer, mainly following out of fear for himself and his son, [[AdaptationalHeroism which makes him a more noble figure than in the original mythology]]. Unlike Maya Zatz has inherited his godly parent's abilities, being able to shapeshift into a single or swarm of bats. Much like Batman, while he's associated with bats and has a dark and brooding aesthetic[[note]]though not half as much as Bruce[[/note]] [[DarkIsNotEvil he's a good man]]. Batman rarely has off time, but when he does he likes to meet up with Zatz. Both think the other has killer aesthetics. Bruce had mused he knows the feeling of having a thing [[DatingCatwoman for someone on the opposite side]].
** Zatz may have a fair bit of tragedy in his background, but one thing that cannot be denied is that his parents were loving to him despite the dangerous situation they were in. A bit of commentary he had with Percy is that their divine dads [[AdaptationalHeroism were again, a lot nicer than in the original myths]]. The other demigod thinks maybe that's because the "death bat" re-evaluated his priorities after being defeated by the Mayan Hero Twins. He was definitely interested to learn that while un-ascended, his dad and Cabrakan [[VideoGame/{{Smite}} have participated in the Battlefield of the Gods]]. Sometimes he composes songs and poetry in a mood with fellow white-haired pretty boy Rhaegar Targaryen. Rhaegar mused that much like Lady Micte his romantic affair had indirectly caused a fair bit of trouble, and unlike [[EasilyForgiven Micte]] Jon Snow still has some issues with his biological father he hasn't resolved yet.
** He has a lot of the traits of a RomanticVampireBoy, though he's not a vampire. Still, he's friends with the {{Dhampyr}} Alucard. As for Alucard's father...well, while he can understand the reason he hates humanity he certainly won't condone his actions. And don't get him started on that creep Michael Morningstar, [[ActuallyNotAVampire the kind of but not really vampire]] who uses women. Because of his association with darkness and bats, the demigod interests Antasma and Chernabog, the former seeing him as a rival due to his role as the "Prince of Bats". Due to their usage of bats/darkness for evil, he's not a fan of them. Because of his bat aesthetic, Zatz manages to be one of few not annoyed by Zubat; they seem to respect his role as a bat-based demigod and he has control over them as an extension of his powers. Though normally stoic and composed, [[NotSoStoic he can be playful with the Murkrow flock]] and like, letting them rest on his ShouldersOfDoom.
** He has somewhat of a kindred spirit with Nuova Shenron, and Zuko. They're both on the nicer end of a typically evil organization, though unlike Nuova Zatz is not the ''[[TokenGoodTeammate only]]'' good god under Lord Mictlan. Like Nuova he became a long-standing ally of the good guys. Zatz muses that he's not sure whether it's ironic or expected that the dragon born from the most evil wish is the only AntiVillain of the group, but it's interesting of note. While they like to discuss their lives and relationship with the good guys, [[PlayingWithFire Nuova's powers]] don't synergize all that well with [[DarkIsNotEvil Zatz]]. Zatz and Zuko are closer as friends, though. Another reformed hero, Zuko has a lot of the personal drama and trauma regarding his former boss, however it's especially personal as the EvilOverlord he served under [[ArchnemesisDad was his own father]]. Maya and Zatz despise Ozai for being the same kind of genocidal warlord that doesn't give a damn about anyone else that Lord Mictlan was

* The Candlemaker is a spirit who lives in the Cave of Souls and is also the keeper of the Book of Life. A powerful yet humble deity made out of celestial candlewax and with a beard of clouds, he's in charge of both keeping the balance between the Land of the Remembered and Land of the Forgotten, and more importantly creating the candles of life that embody every living thing. He has a brother, the Creator, who rules the Land of the Blessed, a land where angels and other celestial beings live. He helped Manolo return to the land of the living and acted as the officiator of his wedding to Maria Posada, along with helping him deal with Chakal. [[WesternAnimation/MayaAndTheThree He also was the officiator for Lady Micte and Lord Mictlan's wedding]]...[[{{Understatement}} that didn't go as well though]].
* His ascension was, according to some, foreshadowed by the fact he was the herald of his divine contemporaries La Muerte and Xibalba. A good friend of bost even if he acknowledges the latter can be a jerk. [[spoiler:Like them he also took a modern human form incognito, that being a bus driver, Mr C.]] [[WordOfGod/TheBookOfLife According to some official notes]] He used have a thing for the former, and the puddle he has in the Cave of Souls isn't just a CompanionCube; it's alive and made from the tears of a goddess, La Muerte's sister La Noche. Also, ''WesternAnimation/MayaAndTheThree'' shares a universe with him, so he was kind of happy to see Maya and Zatz ascend with him as he enjoyed their story. Chakal wasn't exactly happy to learn the Candlemaker had ascended due to his role in his defeat, but it's not something the Candlemaker puts much consideration into. Having aided them and overall impressed by their accomplishments, Manolo, Maria and Joaquin were happy to meet up with the waxy, lovable god again.
* His ascension as the god of ElementalHairComposition is because of his WeirdBeard of elemental clouds. Because it's made of clouds, someone decided to prank him by inviting Rayquaza over and use its ability of Air Lock to wipe that weather off his face. This didn't work, in large part because of how powerful he is and it's not exactly weather. The dragon and the Candlemaker are amicable to each other because the latter likes how the former, and another dragon Zygarde for the matter, have the job of keeping order in the world, particularly against squabbling entities like Groudon and Kyogre. As a life and soul deity, the Pokemon that he has the closest working relationship with is Xerneas and Yveltal, the incarnations of life and death. Him and Arceus are pretty tight too, and the latter can respect him for taking his job seriously but not being a stick in the mud and having a good sense of humor. He tried to reach out to [[Pantheon/{{Weather}} Kracko]] who's made almost entirely of clouds and not just the hair, but the mean little cloud wasn't interested in his easy-going personality.
* The Candlemaker's function is to craft the candles that embody and represent people's lives. If that candle is still lit, it means they're alive. With his usage of candles, [[Pantheon/ReligiousPractice the Dark Brotherhood]] was curious about this waxy deity due to their usage of [[CandlelitRitual the Black Sacrament]], though he doesn't exactly approve of their rituals. The Candlemaker is easy going yet he's still an equal to La Muerte and Xibalba, and one of the more understated Overdeities in the Trope Pantheon. [[Pantheon/ElementalPowers Ember Lumen]] was also curious about these candles, seeing as how she's a living flame. The House of Pantheon/UndeadAndPhasmata was curious as to what their candle would look like since they're, you know, undead and still kicking in the mortal realm. Apparently when he shows them their candle, the fire is extinguished but its still hot and smoking. For Voldemort, it was multiple small and lopsided candles with a very tiny flame, representing his mutilated soul. While agreeing with most he's reprehensible, he's more disappointed than anything he could sully his essence to escape the reaper, [[spoiler:and his ultimate fate may be worse than the Land of the Cursed]].
* The Cave of Souls serves as his temple, and it has a direct connection to both the House of Pantheon/LifeAndVitality, and the House of Pantheon/DeathAndPostmortem. It's the nature of his job, after all. Strictly speaking his job of making the candles only applies to those from his universe, however with other divinity's permission he can make candles for other universes. The Life Entity and Death of the Endless were the ones who gave the go ahead for this, creating an appendix for his Book of Life to catalogue the comings and goings of Trope Pantheon members. Literal deities and divine entities don't show up in the appendix, though it's not like gods showed up in the regular one. Comparisons could be made between his book and [[Pantheon/ProphecyAndFate Destiny's]], though as the Candlemaker will readily admit Destiny's is far more expansive and influential. Unlike Destiny of the Endless he isn't bound to his book.
* Because of his job, he works closely with divine beings of life, death and whatever's in-between. Though he follows the rules, he's willing to bend them a bit in order to help souls and spirits in need. [[DeathIsCheap The nature of the Trope Pantheon]] means that he has to relight candles, something he's not done that often, but he can adapt. Though his morality and worldview is more convention compared to Shishigami's BlueAndOrangeMorality, his nature as a life and soul deity means he understands the importance of the NatureSpirit and aids its role in the world. With this role in mind, he's on good terms with San and Ashitaka. Lady Eboshi is curious about him given her prior experiences, but is wise to avoid getting too interested in him. Darth Plagueis doesn't share this; he wishes to study the Candlemaker to learn the secrets of life itself...most would consider his reasons to be nefarious. Junior the Stork is another ally of his due to his role of delivering babies, and thus new life.
* He's like Hestia in that he gets along with everyone he meets. They've got different jobs, though as being a protector of the family is an essential role as her "goddess of the hearth" position, knowing and getting along with people is super important for her. Due to ''WesternAnimation/TheBookOfLife'' and ''WesternAnimation/MayaAndTheThree'' having a shared universe, the "[[PublicDomainCharacter public domain gods]]" that he has the most familiarity with are the [[Myth/MayanMythology Mayan]] and [[Myth/AztecMythology Aztec]] ones. He's on good terms with them, except for Ah Puch by "virtue" of Ah Puch being a complete asshole who makes corpses and the dead his playthings, and he intends to expand his Hell. Yeah, Tezcatlipoca can be a major tool like Xibalba, but he still recognizes the Candlemaker's importance and he's a NiceGuy he respects. On another continent, there are some [[Myth/EgyptianMythology Egyptian gods]] seeking to work in tandem with him; Osiris and Anubis have the role of judging the dead, and while they usually want the heart of the dead to weigh they are OK with using his candles as a substitute if someone fails to be mummified. They had to make a modified scale to not give the feather of Ma'at an unfair advantage, however.
* Few can say they hate the Candlemaker. Even someone as notorious as Zamasu, while seeing him as an enemy, [[NothingPersonal doesn't have anything against him personally]] and might've liked to know him, but his job is antithetical to the Zero Mortals Plan. Like almost everyone the Candlemaker thinks he's nuts and his plan is steeped in blood and hypocrisy. As destroying the Cave of Souls and him would prevent new life from emerging in his native universe, he's considered a primary target by the GUAD. They aren't the only ones, mind you. Darkseid sees every god not under his control as someone to subjugate and/or eliminate, and the idea of taking the Cave of Souls, letting him control the fate of life itself in the Candlemaker's universe...is a terrifying one and it puts a smile on Darkseid's face. The Monitor had been, well, monitoring this and has informed the Candlemaker of some other multiversal threats. As the Monitor it is his job to observe and help the positive matter universes develop; a bit more cosmic in terms of divine vocation, but not incomparable to the Candlemaker's role.
* Much as how almost nobody has a bad word for the Candlemaker, the Candlemaker rarely has it in him to hate someone. One of the only exceptions to this is Chakravartin. Controller of the Wheel of Life and Death in his universe, he continually destroys and rebirths planet Gaea to find a suitable successor to take it over after he leaves, harms trillions in the process without a care. He's a perversion of everything the Candlemaker holds dear. The same could be said about Zanza, and especially Kronika who's vision of balance is insane as far as he's concerned. He feels real bad for Cetrion having being gaslit into Kronika's loyal daughter [[AbusiveParents despite what she's done]] (including sacrificing herself) and wishes she could live up to her potential. Perpetua and the Anti-Monitor are major enemies, as she seeks to enslave him in order to control life while Mobius simply seeks to destroy him along with his universe. Her son the World Forger has been making some PoweredArmor and enchantments to give him at least some chance surviving them, though they're so OP he can't guarantee. When asked why he's putting in the help, Alpheus said that as creating life and making sure the right universes reach the light multiverse, their jobs compliment each other to a degree.
* On a more lighter note, he has a bit of an issue with Beerus the Destroyer. Not that he dislikes him, and the two recognize each other's importance, but he feels Beerus isn't that good at his job and as such he's one of those beings who gets away with snarking at Beerus' expense without fear of reprisal or even the cat being too pissed. Since the Candlemaker's job is one of creation, his specialties are more something to tie in with the Kaioshins, and they prove a lot more competent than the cat....well, except maybe Shin, but since he was IncompletelyTrained he has more of an excuse. Whis, an angel who observes and keeps a sense of balance, enjoys having Mexican meals with the Candlemaker. The Living Tribunal has been observing their meetings and believes the Candlemaker is doing a good job, and a heads up...Melkor and Ungoliant are seeking to come in and marr his cave. Ungoliant hungers for the light within him and his cave, and Melkor seeks to marr the world he comes from the same way he did Arda.
* Nekron could sense Nagash's plans to enslave the Candlemaker so he may control the souls of everyone and had the more reliable[[note]]read: loyal[[/note]] Lich infiltrate that afterlife [[WesternAnimation/AdventureTimeDistantLands since he has prior experience]]. The Candlemaker made sure to warn both La Muerte and Xibalba that "if there's any gnarly horned dude or big yellow hand [[ManipulativeBastard wanting to have a say with one of your bets]], squash him like a bug. You gotta play safe with the guy". The Crimson King meanwhile wants to physically tear the Cave of Souls apart by removing its metaphysical foundation. Finn and Jake helped stop the Lich's attempted takeover of their universe's afterlife as part of their final journey before they reincarnated, so they were happy to help out the Candlemaker.
* [[GrandpaGod Said to look like God]]. He is not the Alpha and Omega of his setting, but he is a powerful being whose job is to maintain the balance and the peace over the world of the living and the dead, [[GodIsGood and he's quite a nice guy]]. His aforementioned brother also comes off as kind of a God-like figure if the Land of the Blessed is any indication. Some have even compared his ability to craft life candles akin to Eru's usage of a true, ensouled life is described as the Flame Imperishable, though Eru is far grander than even the Candlemaker. He is someone that the Candlemaker would refer to as "sir", and listens to his advice. He works on his godly duties with the Valar, who usually make good conversation partners. Other [[GodIsGood benevolent Gods]] get along with the Candlemaker.

* In Superman's RoguesGallery, you will never find someone with the phenomenal cosmic powers tied with a sense of whimsy and playfulness as you will with Mister Mxyzptlk. A jester and magical imp from the Fifth Dimension on the planet Zrfff, he's typicall just jester, a comedian and everyman on his home turf.. But due to [[SufficientlyAdvancedAliens the 5th dimension's higher nature]], he comes off as a god-like RealityWarper in the third dimension. Rather than anything outright evil like most of Superman's villains, he's content with pranking and messing with the Man of Steel. He can make the universe his clay but prefers to match wits with him by causing (relatively) harmless chaos. For a win condition, you have to get him him to say, spell, write, or otherwise communicate his own name backwards. So have him say "Ktlpzyxm" and he'll be gone for 90 days. He does have a sense of honor and respect behind his clownish behavior, making him more of a FriendlyEnemy.
* Mr Mxyzptlk is relatively unique in that he isn't a specific version that ascended to the Trope Pantheon; all versions of the imp, unless specifically stated otherwise, are the same guy. His pestering of the Man of Steel spans the multiverse. Surprisingly, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6S2Is34q0Q one mortal did the math and found this actually holds up]]. And because he can break the fourth wall with ease, he knows what the Trope Pantheon is. He came on his own accord to meet up and mess around with others, and there's no way he's gonna let Superman be where without him. Though Superman finds him annoying, they don't have much in the way of hard feelings and Mxy considers him his worthiest adversary. Second worthiest is Supergirl, who was a victim of his pranks during her early career. Some things he did include temporarily amping power levels up and removed her weakness to Kryptonite to humiliate Superman,, depowered her, repowered her, lured her into a future century where everyone had been brainwashed into hating her, tried to get married to her (don't ask), banished her and Batgirl to other dimension and pretended to be her enemy Black Flame pretending be Supergirl as a part of a convoluted scheme to prank Superman and Batman (again, don't ask).
** His relationship with Superman got [[ComicBook/SupermanReborn a little strained]] when he was tricked by the mysterious Mr. Oz into being captured along with countless other heroes and villains. He figured Superman would rescue him once he stopped his regular visits, but when that didn't happen, he made his own escape and decided to steal Superman's son as his new best friend. To challenge Mxy's attempts, Superman challenged him to a game, where the winner gets to keep John. It was a back and forth contest where Mxy almost won several times, but ultimately the love of the Superfamily managed to merge his 2 halves back together and reclaim John. Mxy, as part of the game, agreed to go "far away" for a while, but he's fairly certain that Batmite and Gsptlsnz can keep him amused for now. And besides, he'd always be game for another game eventually.
* Where exactly Mr Mxyzptlk stands in the Fifth Dimension is often DependingOnTheWriter. In his original appearance, [[NormalFishInATinyPond he was basically a nobody on Zrfff]]. Back in the Golden Age of Comics, it was Mr Mxyztplk. [[UglyGuyHotWife He's got a bombshell of a wife]] in Ms Gsptlsnz, though as they're both higher dimensional shapeshifters they could just prefer those appearances. On that note, he thinks Roger and Jessica Rabbit are a cute couple. Originally it was suggested the Golden and Silver Age Mxy were counterparts though with the "all Mxys are the same guy" reveal it's possible this could be just "fifth-dimensional weirdness"[[note]]or maybe they're from different points in their personal history[[/note]]. Supes once managed to get to the Fifth Dimension and cause trouble for him on his home turf. He let Luthor use red kryptonite so long as he didn't reveal his involvement. Earlier in his timeline he used to be a serious minded researcher, but in order to complete a StableTimeLoop ComicBook/YoungJustice they inspired within him a sense of humor via a Three Stooges bit. He was happy to meet them in the Trope Pantheon and thank them for the laughs.
* There are a few Mxys that are clearly not the same guy, but they're the exception rather than the rule and the main Mxyzptlk is well aware of their antics. Chiefly [[MirrorUniverse his Antimatter Universe]] counterpart Mixyezpitellik, a serious-minded and neatly dressed RealityWarper. [[OtherMeAnnoysMe He hates being compared to Mxyzptlk]], calling him a "madcap imp". There's also a Bizarro Mxyzptlk made as a result of a Bizarro duplication ray, who's interested in creating order and usually pretty dour. Mxyzptlk jokes that they're somehow the same guy as only a Bizarro of him could be so humorless. Mr Mxyzptlk claims that Loki, [[Myth/AkanMythology Anansui]] and [[Myth/NativeAmericanMythology the Coyote]] are in fact just him under an alias but [[AllMythsAreTrue since he's from the DC Universe this is suspect]]. For what it's worth he gets along with Loki, seeing him as a kindred spirit if significantly more ambitious than him. The god of mischief decided to prank Thor by having Mxy disguise himself as Loki and the real Loki trying to "clear his name", keeping the act up until he gets bored and betrays him by working with his "imposter".
* Well aware of Marvel Comics, when he showed up Post-Crisis he initially went under the alias "Ben [=deRoy=] as a nod to the Beyonder. When the Beyonder ascended the two formally met and became friends since they enjoy playing with their '''phenomenal cosmic power'''. And yes, that is a reference to the Genie. In the DC Universe, genies are often Fifth Dimensional imps, and his ilk have inspired other whimsical beings like leprechauns. He and the Genie enjoy stand up, however the Genie thinks Mxy can be a real jerk and while Mxyzptlk usually reverses the damage he does, he has killed. Still, he got a good chuckle over Mxyzptlk [[ActorAllusion disguising himself as]] [[Creator/GilbertGottfried Iago]] and messing with Jafar by tempting him with great power only to put him in the Thousand And One Nights book and figure out how to get out. Afterwards he went after Hoopa and tried to test himself by summoning a bunch of legendaries and see if Hoopa Unbound can send them back with his rings. He's come to like the little scamp and decided to make another Pokemon his partner, that being the tricky and goofy Blacephalon.
* His true form is incomprehensible to third dimensional beings; being an imp is simply his preferred form to interact with them and not expose the EldritchAbomination he really is. His true, secret imp name is unpronounceable...[[ComicBook/EmperorJoker though the Joker would argue otherwise]]. His alias, however, is hardly pronounceable due to its complete lack of vowels, and usage of rare consonants. All his kind have the lack of vowels in their name. How do you even pronounce it varies; "Mix-pih-tulk", "Mix-yez-pitl-ick", "Mix-el-plik", they're all valid. Him having to say his name backwards might be a blessing in disguise. Ryuk used his Shinigami eyes to figure out his true name only to get "Mxyzptlk" in English instead..."[[NoSell nice try]]" said the imp. There wasn't any hard feelings as he likes the cut of the Shinigami's jib, being someone who's more proactive and interested in stirring the pot to see what happens. Mxy won't admit that him giving a mortal great power was done smarter than when he did it. Speaking of which...
* Much like Rumpelstiltskin, knowing his true name gives you some power over him. Famously, the Joker once scammed him of the majority of his power by exploiting his true imp name. Mxyzptlk only wanted to give him 1% of the power as he was curious to see what he'd do with that power, but he ended up taking 99.9% instead. Becoming ComicBook/EmperorJoker the universe bent to his insane vision and reality started tearing apart at the seams, requiring Mr Mxyzptlk to work with Superman to find a way to beat the Clown Prince of Crime. It's very much an OldShame and by his own admission, a bone-headed move. Because of this he's made sure never to let himself be in that position again, staying clear of Dr Doom has he has a...reputation for taking god-like power for himself. He has no interest in giving anyone a drop of his power after that, so he stays clear of Moro and Lord Tirek as they can't be trusted with even a zillionth of his power. Much as it left him with egg on his face, Mxy was still interested in other cases of someone handling god-like power. He thinks Bruce Nolan being GodForADay was amusing, giving him props for yanking too hard on reality.
* Doom speculated he might actually be [[LawyerFriendlyCameo the Impossible Man]] for a bit, but the two ended up meeting and not getting along as the Impossible Man thought his pranks went a bit too far. He was outraged that not only did Mxy not care about innocent lives being endangered, but he lied to him. This more cavalier attitude towards danger is why the Collector is mistrustful of him, however the imp still has a soft spot for the kid and they like to compete at planetary billiards[[note]]uninhabited planets mind you[[/note]]. That said, Mxy [[NobleDemon does have standards and a sense of honor]]. He's not like Bill Cipher who's idea of a good party is causing mass chaos and devastation, and he's not a {{Sadist}} like Yuuki Terumi. That said, he does enjoy playing games with Bill, but it's more about showing that triangle up. They regularly play reality-bending games in the Nightmare Realm, specifically there because [[EvenEvilHasStandards Mxyzptlk feels Cipher needs to be on a leash until he learns how to play nicer]], often with him making fun of Cipher [[SadClown for using his hedonism in part to cover up the fact he misses the home]] [[WhereIWasBornAndRazed he burned down]]. Him wanting to prove he's a better mischief maker is meant to distract the villain.
* Got a bit bored of playing poker with Bill in the Nightmare Realm and he manifested into somewhere a bit more colorful...[[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Equestia]]...[[WebAnimation/DeathBattle which history has shown is a bad idea]]. Discord immediately confronted Mxy given his fight trying to fight off the menace of Bill, who responded with "just ask Ktlpzyxm over there". The imp's response was "that's Ktlpzy-...oh you scummy Dorito chip!" and turned Bill into a Dorito before kicking him out. Mxzyptlk apologized for that, since he's a fan of Discord and enjoys messing around with reality, but not too much. The Mane 6 were curious, if a bit concerned over someone "who's been playing Discord's game before De Lancie was a glimmer in his daddy's eye!...oh yeah, I should probably mention [[MediumAwareness I can see the bronies too.]]" While his specialty is messing with Superman, he's decided to mess with Pinkie Pie by summoning her and Deadpool into a WorldOfChaos and see if they can figure their way out together. He wanted to be sporting and ran a deli for them when they get hungry, but he got tricked into saying his name backwards when asking to be paid for the chimichanga and ice cream. 90 days later, he wanted a redo and they were happy to do so.
* The Fifth Dimension is described as being "imagination". It is one ontological layer below the Sixth Dimension, the "multiversal control room" which Perpetua and her relatives come from. The planet he's from, Zrfff, is the home of imps, genies and similar beings, who's magic [[SufficientlyAdvancedAlien is advanced 5-D science]]. Visitors have described Zrfff as being a wacky and chaotic place, something close to a Looney Tunes sketch. To some degree, you could say that Mr Mxyzptlk is like a trickster who uses ToonPhysics. Mxy corrected this by saying "my powers aren't toonforce, I simply present it like that!" Judge Doom still despises Mxyzptlk for how close in temperament and to a degree powers he resembles a toon, [[BoomerangBigot even if he's a toon underneath that human suit]]. Emperor Belos holds Mxy in contempt as someone that resembles, seeking his power for himself to purge the world of "sinful" races. Not wanting to take any chances, he turned him into an action figure and played with him as the Collector played with an "action figure" of Zamasu. The mad Kaioshin [[DoNotTauntCthulhu made the mistake of trying to attack Mxy because he saw him as an irresponsible god at best, god-complexed juiced up mortal at worst]]. [[AndIMustScream Said action figure doesn't have a voice box because]] [[EvenEvilHasStandards the imp didn't want the "action figure" to say slurs in front of the kid]].
* Mr Mxyzptlk is a big fan of the Looney Tunes. The imp waxed on a (possibly untrue) story that before the Man of Steel he was in a prank war with Bugs Bunny and lost, [[DefeatMeansFriendship but liked the moxie]] and decided to improve his craft. The story may be made up, but the point is that the two got along long enough for Mxy to ask him for a favor and go humiliate the Joker as payback for the time he stole his power. The Joker thought he could get one up on Bugs by making him say " Ynnub Sgub" but as Bugs was using ToonPhysics alone, no dice. The whole thing was recorded by Future Zeno who figured out how to use a camera, in order to show off to Present Zeno. Mxyzptlk likes those kids, musing "sentimentality isn't my style [[HiddenDepths but hey, I'm a dad myself]]". Mxy's fondness for the Zeno duo might be [[ComicBook/ActionComicsNew52 because of sadness over how his son (sort of, it's complicated) Vyndktvx turned out]]. He tried killing him only to take out the Thing-King (actually a future Mxyzptlk) he systematically destroyed all of the planets inside his pocket dimension to spite his enemy, and inflicting a massive amount of misery towards Superman for burning Vyndktvx's arm during one of his attacks on Earth. He'll entertain him in exchange for getting to mess with Goku. So long as he comes back in one piece and he gets to watch, Zeno will allow it.
* Mr Mxyzptlk is absurdly powerful by simple virtue of being from a fifth-dimensional {{Wackyland}}, but just how absurdly powerful depends. Sometimes the way to banish him is a self-imposed limitation, sometimes it's a hard rule. He's a self-admitted sucker for games, not necessarily that he is bound to their rules as the Celestial Toymaker is that he really likes them. Not coincidentally, the Toymaker happens to be a good friend of his. The two are [[RealityWarper reality warpers]] who occupy themselves and their immortality with games. The Toymaker uses more "official" games while Mxyzptlk does mind games and jokes. They each have their personal WorthyOpponent in the Doctor and Superman respectively. They're also significantly more powerful than nearly every other member of said opponent's rogues gallery. The Toymaker's games are considerably more nasty, with the occasional FateWorseThanDeath, however like Mr Mxyzptlk [[EvenEvilHasStandards he has rules and some sense of fairness]] [[FairPlayVillain he follows]]. The imp has tried to make it a regular thing every week to meet up with the Toymaker and play games, often requiring the Doctor and Superman to work together in order to mitigate collateral. In Mxy's defense, he'll reverse whatever damage the Toymaker didn't bother to as he's not as bad. Sarda will sometimes be invited for game night.
* By his own admission there are some beings beyond him, such as Dr Manhattan and, given the aforementioned Sixth Dimension, the Monitor and his relatives in their true form. He doesn't exactly care for Jon Osterman's attitude and has tried to tell him to lighten up, but is otherwise ambivalent towards him. Unfortunately, it also means that as the Darkest Knight, the Batman That Laughs is a threat and one just as comparable to Emperor Joker, if not even worse. He's definitely above Darkseid given he was no match to Emperor Joker, at least regularly as True Form Darkseid is not a form the Lord of Apokolips uses lightly. Beings like Darkseid and YHVH consider him utterly insufferable for not using his powers for anything serious. The Living Tribunal isn't all that impressed by his actions and general irreverence, and Mxyzptlk isn't exactly fond of someone much more powerful than him being, as he sees it, a stick in the mud. Still, he recognizes the Living Tribunal's importance and the two begrudgingly tolerate each other. Also of note; it's ambiguous where SCP-3125, another being from (a different) Fifth Dimension would stand compared to the imp. What is known is that the Escapee finds him obnoxious and insufferable, and Mxy thinks he's no fun.
* His focus on the DC Universe is usually just Superman and friends. As annoying and chaotic as he is, more than a few times [[ActuallyPrettyFunny they've had a laugh at what transpired]]. While he is on speaking terms with Lex Luthor, that's more down to him being ok with helping him once in a blue moon to cause mischief, not because he likes him. Bizarro seems to get along with him a bit more, though that's more down to one incarnation of Bizarro coming to be because of the Joker using the imp's powers and Mxy being nice enough to keep him around when reality went back to normal. Mxy has a FriendlyRivalry with Batman's most powerful fanboy, another 5-D imp called Bat-Mite, who in the (possibly non-canon) "World's Funniest" they ended up rampaging and destroying the multiverse in their little conflict, only to put reality back together good as new like nothing happened. [[NotSoHarmlessVillain Again, good thing he's only interested in mischief]]. One of his antics was dunking on the Spectre with planets, something the angel is not impressed by. He's more livid at the time Mxy impersonated him to watch over [[Pantheon/FearsomeArchetypes Regime Superman]] when he was troubled by Trigon, as no-one messes with his Supes but him! The fact Trigon wasn't squashed like a bug would solidify his Overdeity status in the Trope Pantheon.
* Once faced an EldritchAbomination called the Ultimator, who was a 10-dimensional being that almost succeeded at consuming and assimilating the Fifth Dimension into itself. Being completely outclassed, Mxyzptlk had to resort to other comic books to figure out a solution. His solution? Make his own version of Dream of the Endless to bore the Ultimator into a slumber. The actual Dream tolerates this parody, but he didn't think it was all that funny. Since the Fifth Dimension is imagination, one could argue that it falls under the domain of Dream...though there's always the question of "how canon is Vertigo to DC anyway?" He does respect Dream, though he gets along a lot better with Delirium due to sharing that spirit of chaotic whimsy, [[AlwaysABiggerFish though even Mxy]] [[BewareTheSillyOnes is cautious not to truly upset her]]. As the Fifth Dimension is imagination, that puts Mxy in opposition to [[ImaginationDestroyer the Nothing]]. On a related note, the Auditors ''despise'' Mxyzptlk [[FunPersonified for his boundless whimsy and imagination]] coupled [[RealityWarper with the power to make his chaotic whims a reality]].
* As much as he's seen as a LaughablyEvil or even HarmlessVillain, it's very important to remember the only reason Mr Mxyzptlk is not one of the most dangerous villains in all of DC is because he chooses not to. At heart he's AboveGoodAndEvil and acts out of boredom; he spent the first 2000 years of his life in stasis, the next 2000 doing good deeds and now being a prankster. [[ComicBook/WhateverHappenedToTheManOfTomorrow In one scenario he decided to try being a villain for 2000 years, and afterwards maybe he'll feel guilty about it]]. ''It did not end well'', with many innocent people and much of Superman's supporting and rogues gallery dying. Xenophanes wants to goad Mr Mxyzptlk into doing that again, but he's given a firm "no" since [[BatmanGrabsAGun that ended with Superman killing him]], and he's not that bored yet...[[NonLinearCharacter or maybe that's something that happens at the end of his personal timeline]]. He finds Lord X to be droll and unimaginative, but this doesn't change the fact that he and Bill Cipher are well aware [[NotSoHarmlessVillain he absolutely has the potential to be more dangerous than them]].

* They say UpbringingMakesTheHero, something Clark Kent firmly believes in. So what if that upbringing [[AdaptationalUpbringingChange was changed?]] Say, that spaceship arrived 12 hours off and ended up in Soviet Ukraine? You get the Superman of Earth-30, better known as Red Son Superman. Fighting for Stalin, communism, and the international expansion of the Warsaw Pact, he became a pupil of the Soviet Premier and grew up under the beliefs of the Soviet Union. When Stalin died, he would end up succeeding him as a ReluctantRuler...well, for a time. As Premier of the Soviet Union he would end up becoming a dictator, almost taking the world. To many he was a BenevolentDictator...but was the repressiveness really worth it? After all, why doesn't he just put the entire world in a bottle if it needs his protection? [[HeelRealization Realizing how much the cost of totalitarianism amounted to changed his mind]]...unfortunately Brainiac wasn't exactly into him giving up, and when defeated [[TakingYouWithMe he planned to blow the whole solar system to kingdom come]]. Superman would prove himself a hero once more by sacrificing himself to stop this. However he secretly survived, choosing to be incognito and abandon any attempt to control mankind's destiny again.
* The ascension of the Red Son Superman was anticipated by his Earth 0 counterpart, the OG Superman. He was one of many alternate selves that has a place in [[AllianceOfAlternates the Supermen of the Multiverse]] formally organized during ''ComicBook/FinalCrisis'', helping defeat Ultraman and the Dark Monitor. While anticipated, it would be a stretch to say he would be accepted warmly. Though he started with the best of intentions Kal-L was a dictator, if [[WellIntentionedExtremist a well-intentioned one]], and his soured relationship with the Wonder Woman of his universe, and conflict with the Green Lantern Marine Corps, wasn't going to make their alliance an easy one. An alliance it still is however, as the Earth-30 Superman [[TheAtoner wants to make up for his past actions]]. Batman is particularly distrustful of him, and to a lesser extent so's the communist Superman; the Batman of his world was a violent anarchist. To distinguish himself from his counterparts and to reinforce some humility in himself, he goes by his civilian name Somishka, [[NamedInTheAdaptation given to him by]] [[WesternAnimation/SupermanRedSon the animated adaptation]]. His first order of business upon ascension? Find out more about DC characters from the Prime Earth, and the superheroes and villains of other universes.
* He's very interested in Lois Lane and his prime self's adoptive parents, the latter because of the argument of NatureVersusNurture. He's arguably a case of both; while his different upbringing made him employ more questionable methods, he had just as much a motive to do good as his prime self. He deeply respects the Kents for how well they raised his wholly good-aligned counterpart. He was raised on a farm himself, though Soviet Ukraine is quite different from Kansas. The Lois in his world was married to Lex Luthor, though she was no less of an ethical journalist on Earth 30 than Earth 0. Now Lex, that's a different story. While Earth-30 Luthor is just as conceited and arrogant as his prime counterpart, he's on the side of US government and a NominalHero (or AntiHero if you want to be generous) who would start a golden age after Superman's "death". Knowing this, Somishka can't help but feel disappointed in his prime counterpart for wasting so much effort against a version of himself that's a genuine hero. Lex naturally doesn't buy that the Earth-30 Superman has reformed and thinks he validates his beliefs to an extent, though he did like to learn about his variant and finds there's a funny sort of irony in how their lives turned out in that universe.
* The Superman of Earth-30 is naturally compared to the ''other'' Supermen in the Trope Pantheon. And not just them, but those [[SupermanSubstitute who clearly parallel the Man of Steel]]. Mainly, it's the ones that "[[CorruptedCharacterCopy go off the beaten path]]", so to speak, that are of note to the Soviet superhero, though it's not just them. The most obvious comparison one can make with the Red Son Superman is his Regime counterpart. Both see Superman become a dictator for a perceived greater good, though the trigger is different; Regime Superman lost everything, [[DeliberateValuesDissonance and Red Son Superman was mentored by Joseph Stalin]]. However Regime Superman has stayed steadfast in his ideals, much to his Earth-0 and -30 counterparts' disappointment. That Superman thinks his communist doppelganger essentially gave up too soon, however he admires his virtues and accomplishments as dictator. The two have ended up becoming rivals, primarily on an ideological status. So what about other Superman types? How does he feel about them?
** Due to disavowing many of his old views but not exactly being trusted by the hero community Somishka doesn't have many friends. However he does have a very strong friendship with a SupermanSubstitute; Nolan Grayson, aka Omni-Man. Omni-Man grew up as a Viltrumite, [[TheSocialDarwinist Social Darwinist]] aliens who invaded planets to "help" them (basically the [[FantasticRacism alien version]] of WhiteMansBurden), masquerading as TheCape to prepare Earth. But the love of his son, and to a lesser extent wife had him realize he cared. He'd eventually reform his ways and when he eventually became leader, he helped his people reform their ways. Omni-Man has gone through a similar arc to Somishka, so it's no wonder that they relate to one another. He's fond of his son Mark, as he is the one who let the spark of his father's compassion. [[spoiler:As a formerly evil Superman, this puts him in an interesting spot with Superboy-Prime. Prime was a much more childish, dangerous villain, but following the events of ''ComicBook/DarkNightsDeathMetal'' he's ''finally'' turned over a new leaf and is trying to be a hero again. He knows the temptation though, and would like help from the more mature Red Son variant as a Superman who can understand more than most.]]
** At best, he perceives the Plutonian as an especially powerful yet extremely violent maniac. One who has been given chances to reform [[RedemptionRejection and rejected them]]. Red Son Superman, for all his flaws, still held on to a sense of humility and genuine compassion for people, even if his vision of "saving the world" was ultimately the wrong one. [[SecretlySelfish The Plutonian's heroism was ultimately driven by ego rather than any genuine desire to help]]. Though his Regime counterpart disagrees with his decision to stop his TotalitarianUtilitarian path, they'll happily join up and teach the Plutonian a lesson. The Earth-30 Superman has is less disgusted and more disappointed, as is his prime counterpart, with the Homelander. Somishka is currently trying to live up to [[ChummyCommies the virtues of his communist upbringing]] as part of his [[TheAtoner atoning]], so he sees Vought-American and the Seven [[CapitalismIsBad as emblematic of the negatives of capitalism]], pointing out how they've enabled the emotionally unstable traits of their Supes. The obvious exception is Starlight, who he respects for being a genuine hero. He's come around to respecting Queen Maeve [[Series/TheBoys2019 due to her more active heroism]] [[AdaptationalNiceGuy on the TV show]].
** Compared to his more intense relationships with other Supermen and their [[{{Expy}} expies]], his relationship with Metro Man is a lot more light-hearted. Metro Man felt he was defined by the role of Metro City's number one hero and had an understandable, albeit selfish desire to finish his rivalry with Megamind. [[UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans Seeing how far Somishka went to do the right thing]], he thinks taking a break and sorting out his priorities is a good thing. After everything, the Soviet's Man of Steel, decided yeah, he could kick back and relax at Metro Man's place...[[DreadfulMusician just as long as he doesn't sing]]. The guitar riffs are fine. Occasionally the Samaritan and the Sentry show up when they need to take a much-needed breather. Asa Martin is glad that Earth-30 Superman is reforming but isn't comfortable enough to form an alliance yet given his past. Somishka thinks this is fair, and he's noted that while interested in the Sentry he's not quite sure about him yet because of [[SuperpoweredEvilSide the Void's influence]] on him.
* [[WesternAnimation/SupermanRedSon He is slightly different in the animated version]]. While both versions try a non-lethal option, the animated version is willing to kill. However his main victim? ''UsefulNotes/JosephStalin''. A tyrant historically seen as bad as [[UsefulNotes/AdolfHitler the Fuhrer himself]], with one of his atrocities being [[UsefulNotes/TheHolodomor a genocidal starvation]] in Somishka's own land of Ukraine[[note]]mind you that wasn't the tipping point[[/note]], most see it as a PayEvilUntoEvil moment. That said, his solution for dissidents and criminals [[FateWorseThanDeath was debatable worse]]; [[BrainwashingForTheGreaterGood neurological implants to make sure they'd be good and happy]]. After the "[[ArmorPiercingQuestion why don't you put the whole world in a bottle?!]]" line he considers this one of his biggest regrets. It's why, as much of a point they may have and as heroic as they can be, he's unable to get on board with the Indigo Tribe or the Phantom Thieves of Heart. He has no intention of entering the Hall of Pantheon/MindControl outside of taking the fight to Yuri, who uses [[MindControlDevice mind control devices]] except [[CardCarryingVillain with no illusions that this isn't]] [[DespotismJustifiesTheMeans just a method of control]]. Yuri [[EvilCannotComprehendGood is flummoxed by how that speech got through to him]], and thinks of Kal-L as a disappointment.
* The other difference in the animated version is his origins. There he's a Kryptonian, as you'd expect. But in the original comic, the world he's from is actually a very distant future Earth, sent back in hopes of changing things as the planet is about to succumb to the sun's red giant phase only to form part of a StableTimeLoop. Interestingly, this Superman the very distant descendant of Lex Luthor. Being a highly evolved human he is of interest to the Asteromorphs, who have long appreciated the heroism of the regular Superman in service of his adopted home. The Qu hold contempt for Kal-L and see his existence as similarly blasphemous. After learning what the Qu have done, the contempt is mutual. Regardless of where he was born, Somishka sees himself as a human and Soviet citizen first. He was interested in reaching out to Black Widow, a superheroine that used to be a Soviet spy, as he wanted someone to talk about his situation. Her teammate Captain America is a bit off-put as this Superman was Stalin's successor in more ways than one, but he's accepting to him wanting to live up to the mantle of Earth-0 Superman. The Earth-30 Superman respects Cap because he's a patriotic hero that always puts his morality and the virtues of the nation he loves first over any loyalty to its government. He wishes he had that kind of mindset.
* He's Ukrainian, not Russian, though even before becoming Soviet Premier he spent a good amount of time there paraded by Stalin. Wanting to do something light-hearted, he got out red sunlight lights so he could brawl with Soda Popinski in a fair fight, as some much needed fun for a man who'd definitely benefit from it. [[BoxingLessonsForSuperman He trains with him to learn how to box better]] so he's not left behind in the StrongAndSkilled department compared to his prime counterpart. "Rurik II" had been observing their brawl and says he wants to reach out to the Soviet Superman, saying while he doesn't agree with his past methods he does want to see him aspire to greatness. Nikolay used to be a Red Army soldier that went off the deep end but still managed to become TheGoodKing, so Somishka respects him. Something he's noted is that the two of them live within AlternateHistory, which started to make him wonder...what other Supermen in the multiverse had a shake-up to their origins? How might they compare to him? He decided to go to the House of Pantheon/TimeAndTemporality and figure out the answer
** He was disturbed to learn about Earth-10, where he also landed in 1938...in Czechoslovakia. [[AlternateHistoryNaziVictory The Nazis had a field day with his ship]]. Amazingly, his counterpart Overman [[TokenGoodTeammate was the only member of the New Reischman to carry a sense of guilt about it]]. He was involved in Nazi atrocities [[TheAtoner but deeply regrets it]] and is trying his best to make up for it. While he was too young to fight in [=WW2=], Somishka hates Nazis by default, and the Soviets were easily the most heated rivals of the Nazis during the war. Still, the fact that even in that timeline he had some sense of good was something to note. It's a factor behind Ultraman [[EvilMeScaresMe being Somishka's least favorite counterpart]], as he never held any potential for heroism. Earth-23 was a much needed palette cleanser; a universe where he was black and got into politics, becoming US President, and an effective one at that. Somishka thinks of [[PresidentSuperhero Calvin Ellis]] as his good counterpart
** Some other timelines include [[ComicBook/SupermanSpeedingBullets him being raised by the Waynes and becoming Batman]], and [[ComicBook/FlashpointDCComics being seized by the US government]]. Didn't exactly end well for "Subject One", and it makes him glad he was raised by farmers instead of the Red Army and thus directly under Stalin. It's given him a little bit of pity for Homelander due to how he was raised in a cold, unfeeling lab, [[FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse but he reminds himself he's a psychopathic narcissist]]. It's also given him a lot of sympathy for the Last Man of Alcatraz. He was a SupermanSubstitute that genuinely wanted to do good, but he was ruthlessly exploited by the US government, and later on the Lunarians, being brainwashed to do evil before eventually snapping for real. The Last Son is now a TragicMonster beyond reasoning, much as Somishka wants to reach out to him, but he knows he has to be stopped even if he wished there was some other way.
* His redemption is seen as a massive disappointment by many a tyrant, Zod musing that while he could hardly call him an ally while he was Soviet premier he had his respect for how he led the Soviet Union. Darkseid and YHVH were going to see him as an opponent anyway but they preferred him as a villain because he aligned more with their own ideals and philosophies. The Network thought he could've been a great emissary and promoter. Somishka for what it's worth wants to divorce himself from any tyrant, '''especially''' if they had the same kind of beliefs he used to be. Some tyrants weren't disappointed because they knew they were always too evil for him to handle; we're talking your Dr Weils and your IT. Others even more so. Clu was perhaps the most sympathetic yet disappointed of Kal-L, as his desire to seek perfection means he sympathizes with his hardship at making a better world. Somishka coldly responded that he cannot accept his genocide.
* Nikita Dragovich is perhaps the most upset by his turn because he saw him as an ideal vessel of ensuring Soviet and communist domination, however Superman looks at him with contempt. He's called him out for [[ANaziByAnyOtherName acting like the Red Army's sworn enemies]], musing he reminds him of Pyotr Roslov and Stalin himself. Dragovich is arguably more envious than frustrated as Superman's time as Soviet Premier was a fulfillment of his wildest dreams; [[EvilCannotComprehendGood he cannot imagine how one moralizing letter broke his desire to rule]]. The Aryan Brotherhood weren't so much disappointed as they were ''disgusted'' by an alien taking over the USSR, but since they're BoomerangBigot trash Somishka doesn't give a damn what they think. The Emperor of Mankind wasn't fond of Somishka's past, being that he is one way or another an alien who almost ruled the world, though as a ruthless dictator himself a lot of his critiques [[PsychologicalProjection could be pointed at him]]. The Emperor defends this by saying [[HypocrisyNod while his own means are similar]], he has far worse threats to deal with that need his extremist actions.
* Billy Butcher isn't convinced that his redemption is genuine and his past deeds help fuel his hatred of supes, not helped by [[spoiler:his comic self coming to the conclusion all supes, himself and the other Boys included, need to die]]. The other Boys only tolerate him begrudgingly, as while they accept he wants to try and live a normal human life and make up for his past deeds they aren't ready to trust him yet. On that path to redemption, Somishka tends to work with those who hold their own regrets about past extremism, who he counts as more full-fledged allies. Merlina tried to keep her world alive at any cost, however after being defeated by Sonic he was able to inspire her to accept its mortality and adopt TheAntiNihilist philosophy.

* The Millennium Items date back over 3000 years, commissioned by the pharaoh Akhenamekhanen to protect Anceint Egypt from an invading army. Made by his brother Akhenaden, these seven items had various powers, all sharing the ability to perform the dangerous Shadow Games. Their creation was soaked in blood, however; the 99 residents of the thief town Kul Elna were sacrificed to make them. This was the StartOfDarkness for the Thief King, and it's what allowed the monster Zorc Necrophades to begin his scheme to cover the world in darkness. The Nameless Pharaoh sealed the darkness away, and eventually the items would be dug up in the modern day.
* Applies to the artifacts as a whole
** Following the passing the Nameless Pharaoh [[spoiler:true name Atem]], the items were buried deep underground...[[Anime/YuGiOhTheDarkSideOfDimensions at least until Kaiba dug them up]] as part of his scheme to have one last, definitive duel with his rival. [[TheUnreveal He refuses to go into detail as to how that went]], instead having Kaiba Corp make a delivery of the Millennium Items to the Great Treasury. Interviewers attempted to get an answer for why but he wasn't available for an answer. The only thing known is that before the overhaul of the treasury they used to be artifacts in the pantheon, but were removed in the overhaul for some beauacratic reasons. The current display is supposed to have all seven, but the Millennium Ring is almost always missing from it because it is taken/linked to Yami Bakura. The Millennium Puzzle is normally on loan with Yugi, due to its ties to the Nameless Pharaoh. While the other Millennium Items can be loaned to other deities, permission is required and they are items not to be trifled with.
** Created from blood sacrifice following instructions of the Millennium Spellbook, together the seven items have the ability to summon Zorc Necrophades to the mortal world. Their ability to initiate Shadow Games and dark magic associated with them gives the items great potential for evil, though except for the Millennium Ring none of the items are evil persay. A comparison could be made with the ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'' with how the Philosopher's Stone is made, [[spoiler:except the Items [[AndIMustScream don't contain still-screaming souls]].]] The Elric brothers and their father are trying to make sure Father and his homunculi don't try to pilfer the items, and make sure if the Spellbook is ever ascended it's kept lock and key to make sure nobody tries to make more Millennium Items. There is a rule against using the Millennium Items in the House of Pantheon/{{Gaming}} to prevent any Shadow Games, and even outside of that their abilities would allow someone to cheat at the games. The D'arby brothers think it's a silly rule given their own abilities are similar to the Shadow Games, and despite everything they've done their position in their house is secured.
** According to Shadi three items (the Key, Scale and Necklace) represent justice, three items (the Ring, Rod and Eye) are weak to evil and the Puzzle represents both evil and justice. Because of their dark background and potential for evil they're of interest to the [[Pantheon/GrandUnitedAllianceOfEvil GUAE]] and the [[Pantheon/GrandUnitedAllianceOfGood GUAG]]. Also, their dark history has been yet more fodder for [[Pantheon/{{Hats}} Linkara's]] jokes about how Ancient Egypt is evil[[note]]cue [[Franchise/StarWars the Imperial March]][[/note]]. They're of more interest to the House of Pantheon/MagicAndSorcery, mainly because the various members of the house are seeking to use their powers for good, ill or just because they're useful. The House of Pantheon/DeathAndPostmortem, namely its {{Psychopomp}} leaders, feel they should keep an eye as all together the seven Millennium Items are a necessary part in allowing the other Yugi to move on to the next life.
** The items do not respond well to the unworthy, usually killing them (sometimes [[FateWorseThanDeath worse]]). Indiana Jones was pretty GenreSavvy in treating the Millennium Items gingerly, emphasizing that they belong in the pantheon's museum and should be kept in the Great Treasury. Any discussion with him that they should have their power combined with another artifact just frustrates him. Some [[Website/SCPFoundation D-Class schmuck]] was given a test to bring the Key near the Ark of the Convenant, [[HolyIsNotSafe which ended with him and the foolish researches who ordered it becoming pillars of salt]]...[[BlatantLies who'd have thought]] [[BerserkButton the Abrahamic God wouldn't like these blood sacrifice Egyptian relics near the Ark?]] [[Pantheon/UnlivingBeings Ahkmenrah]] has stated that he wants them to be kept separate from his Tablet as he's wary of how they might affect another Egyptian magical artifact.
* Applies to the artifacts individually
** The Millennium Puzzle and Ring are unique since, as already mentioned, they contain the spirits of people. The Puzzle is notoriously hard to solve in large part due to Yami Yugi's influence and has a more general purpose of enhancing skill, accessing and protecting from magic. The Ring can find what the wielder is looking for like a compass, but benefits are outweighed by the malignant evil in the item. [[Anime/YuGiOhTheDarkSideOfDimensions Even without Zorc or the Thief King, it's still corruptive]]. Voldemort was fascinated by these items since they work as a sort of [[SoulJar Horcrux variant]], though the abilities and how they function as "horcruxes" is somewhat different. He doesn't intend to steal them because he can't make a horcrux over something already "occupied" like they are, but it has inspired him to try and steal the other Millennium Items and make ''them'' horcruxes. Zorc is intrigued by this since it could allow him to influence Voldemort, but he and by extension Yami Bakura refuse to let him co-opt the artifacts.
** The Millennium Eye lets you read people's minds. Admittedly useless for telepaths like [[Pantheon/SpiritualAndMentalPowers the Martian Manhunter]] unless you want to play a Shadow Game, but pretty useful for anyone ''wanting'' telepathy. It's only got two downsides. One, if someone can pull a MemoryGambit like flipping between different personalities they can cheat the system. Two, [[EyeScream it requires an empty eye socket]]. This wasn't a problem for Bender that time he managed to steal the Eye, calling Pegasus "a lightweight meatbag" as he could just unscrew one of his eyes and plug the artifact in. He freaked out a bit when [[Recap/FuturamaS1E10AFlightToRemember he saw the spirit of the Countess de la Roca]], much as how Pegasus saw a vision of his lost love, but got over it. Bender almost won a big poker game until he went up against Fry, who's mind still couldn't be read even with a magic artifact. The Eye was later recovered from a nearby trash can and returned to the museum.
** The Millennium Rod has [[BadPowersBadPeople perhaps the most potential for evil]] since not only is it used for mind control, but it also has a sharp end to stab people with. Marik set up a rumor that [[WebVideo/YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries it can only control people named Steve and can be used as a lightsaber]], but no-one really bought it and he admitted [[ItAmusedMe he made it up for a lark]]. However, strong enough HeroicWillpower can allow one to break out of control. The Hall of Pantheon/MindControl wonders if their own techniques could somehow enhance the item. Death Phantom muses that compared to his own power of MindManipulation, it might as well be glorified metal, but Jervis Tetch thinks it's a neat secondary means of control and looks fashionable. There was a test to see if it could entrance someone already entranced by the Hypnotoad; it succeeded, but the Hypnotoad simply stared and mind controlled
** The Millennium Necklace's role was formerly used by Ishizu Ishatar, and way back in the day her previous life Isis. No, not the goddess, she just happened to share the name. The actual goddess is interested in it, but more as a glorified piece of jewelry as her own divine powers overshadow the Necklace. It's main ability is to see the future, and also the past. However it still has its limits, and its abilities are obscured by other millennium items. Though Ishizu never had any intent to use it for Shadow Games, if she ascends she still cannot be expected to use it in the House of Pantheon/{{Gaming}} as it could be seen as a form of cheating. How effective the Necklace is can fluctuate wildly; tests from the House of Pantheon/{{Prophecy}} shows it's highly effective in [[YouCantFightFate deterministic]] settings but useless in [[ScrewDestiny ones that break fate]]. Anyone wearing it within the House of Pantheon/TimeAndTemporality will suffer a migraine due to the conflicting laws of time inevitably present there.
** The Millennium Key stands as the only Item to lack the eye symbol on it. It allows you to unlock and enter somebody's mind. It's comparable to what the Phantom Thieves and Razputin Aquato are capable of, however Yami Yugi's amnesia caused his mind to come off as some labyrinth. Some poor Arkham guard tried to use the Key to enter [[Pantheon/{{Laughter}} the Joker's mind]] in order to figure out what was wrong with him, [[AMindIsATerribleThingToRead only to be lost in a maddening MC Escher-esque carnival]]. [[FateWorseThanDeath Perhaps he should've been found as unworthy by the Key]].
** The Millennium Scale is perhaps the least explored of the Items, and like the Key was primarily in possession of the enigmatic Shadi. can weigh a person's sin against the Feather of Ma'at. While extremely evil hearts like Yami Bakura and probably the Joker too overwhelm it, most wicked souls can expect to face the wrath of Ammit eating them. Anubis has dryly mused that the Millennium Scale is basically a knock-off of the ScalesOfJustice he and Osiris use to judge the dead, jokingly wondering if they should sue for plagiarism.
** [[Anime/YuGiOhTheMoviePyramidOfLight The Pyramid of Light]] and [[Anime/YuGiOhTheDarkSideOfDimensions Quantum Cube]] are considered by some unofficial Millennium Items, but aren't listed in the canon seven so they aren't officially listed in the Great Treasury. The former is basically an in-universe [[EvilKnockoff knock-off of the Puzzle]] that got co-opted by the sorcerer Anubis for his own purposes, also acting as a SoulJar. The actual Anubis is embarrassed by the whole thing since he doesn't like some GenericDoomsdayVillain [[EverybodyHatesHades giving him a bad name]]. The latter is "semi-official", and can send others to another dimension where they're doomed to disintegrate. [[Pantheon/SourcesOfInformation Some SCP Foundation agents]] argued it should somehow join the canon seven, only to sheepishly admit it's yet another scheme to terminate [[Pantheon/{{Psyches}} SCP-682]].

* Suguroku Muto (or Solomon Moto [[DubNameChange if you're watching the English dub]]) is the grandfather of famed duelist Yugi Muto and owner of the Kame Game shop. In his youth he was an archeologist who visited the Valley of the Kings in hopes of finding the tomb of the Nameless Pharaoh [[spoiler:aka Pharaoh Atem]], being the one to find the Millennium Puzzle, though he was never able to solve it. Interestingly, in a past life he was that pharaoh's Grand Vizier, Shimon Muran, and wielded Exodia. Suguroku is a skilled player of games and a gambler who rarely lost, though one of the few times he did it led to him wearing overalls and retiring. Now he's content running his game shop, and serving as a mentor for his grandson Yugi. Occasionally he has gone out to play Duel Monsters like dueling with Jonouchi in [=KaibaCorps=] Grand Prix.
* Yugi's grandfather was minded his own business, taking care of his shop on a quiet day where there weren't many customers. Everything seemed normal until he opened his mailbox and discovered an invitation to something called the Trope Pantheon. [[ItMakesSenseInContext After the VHS tape Pegasus sent led to his soul getting stolen]] he was suspicious and asked Yugi if he knew if a trick was afoot, only to be informed that it was the same thing he and many of both his allies and enemies had joined. As a character defined by their familial relationship to another character, he was under consideration for the trope of SatelliteFamilyMember. Suguroku may be in his seventies but he's not [[TechnologicallyBlindElders technologically blind]] and quickly adapted to using TV Tropes. His temple is Kame House, technically part of the House of Family and Relatives but functionally part of the House of Pantheon/{{Gaming}} as that's where his revenue comes from. For deities wanting to play Duel Monsters he's usually the one to check if they're looking for a more humble and friendly game shop.
* He had met Judai/Jaden and friends "the long way round" at his card shop [[Anime/YuGiOhGX where even in his eighties he still was as chipper maintaining his shop]]. Sugoroku is generally friendly and doesn't hold a grudge, though he's still somewhat sore around Seto Kaiba and Pegasus; the former beat him and destroyed his Blue Eyes card, leading to him going to the hospital, and the latter stole his soul as part of his scheme. He's on speaking terms with them because they ultimately turned a new leaf, but they're otherwise neutral. Ultimately he only really opposes the unrepentant villains who threatened his grandson (and the world, given the scope of their plans). Yugi's grandfather is on really good terms with Exodia, interestingly enough. As mentioned, his previous life in Ancient Egypt had Exodia as his ''ka'', and he used to have Exodia in his playset.
* While he's retired from the archeology business, he still knows his stuff about Egypt and has stories to share with other archeologists. Him and Indiana Jones have become good friends discussing their past adventures, though Suguroku readily admits Indy has seen a lot more than he was able to. Him and Simon Petrikov are also friends, the latter having been an antiquarian who had studied some magical artifacts...sadly he spent the better part of a millennium driven crazy by one of them. With all the things he's seen of the Millennium Items and Shadow Games, he wasn't exactly surprised to learn the Egyptian gods were all too real in the Trope Pantheon. He's become quite interested in learning more about them, alongside the many pharaohs present asides from the Nameless Pharaoh. He's especially interested in Ahkmenrah, a ChummyMummy who was brought to the land of the living thanks to [[Pantheon/ArtifactsLibrary a magical Egyptian artifact]]...he reminds the old man of Yami Yugi.
* Suguroku's shop being called "Kame Game", basically translating to "Turtle Game", reminds a good amount of people of Muten Roshi. There's more than a few similarities between them; both are old, wise mentors of the protagonist, though Roshi has more of a role as the mentor, and they're both [[DirtyOldMan perverts]]. This isn't as obvious with Yugi's grandpa as his lechery [[CharacterizationMarchesOn was more an early characterization]], but his interest in [[AnimeChineseGirl Vivian Wong]] and Otogi's cheerleaders wasn't exactly innocent. [[EveryoneHasStandards He still thinks Roshi is pervy]], though to the older man's credit he's become better at controlling his lust. While they sometimes chat about beautiful women, most of the time they talk about their life experiences and how to give advice to those they care about. Roshi has decided to learn from him how to play Duel Monsters as a hobby.
* He has somewhat of a rivalry with Comic Book Guy, come their mutual roles in the House of Pantheon/{{Commerce}}. He owns a major comic book shop of the Trope Pantheon, and Suguroku owns a major game shop. Comic Book Guy keeps trying to push advertisement for his shop over the old man, trying to get more customers. He was a bit annoyed to see a regular like [[Pantheon/JokesAndPranks Bart Simpson]] start to spend more pocket change at the Kame Game shop, causing the old man to quip "[[Recap/TheSimpsonsS12E11WorstEpisodeEver didn't you ban him?]]" Jeff simply responded with "we worked that out". While Yugi's grandpa is a bit exasperated by how much of a jerk Comic Book Guy can be, their rivalry is a harmless one and they'll sometimes show up at each other's shop to buy stuff from one another. Occasionally they meet up and chat, and/or snark, at the Kwik-e-Mart. Him and Apu seem to get along as small businessmen.
* Brand X attempted to exploit the old man in hopes of pushing their awful, awful food products. Why him? Simply put, they wanted to look more appealing and "human". They propositioned him with an idea of becoming a promoter for Brand X food, by tying them with the games he sold. Suspecting them from the start, he asked the representative "could you taste test your food first?" That representative was nervous [[LethalChef since he knew what their food taste like]], so instead he decided to gamble and say "OK, let's decide it over poker. You win, I'll taste test it and we'll leave you alone forever. I win, you sell your game shop to us and we turn it into a market". Unfortunately for that representative Suguroku was a very lucky gambler and took some pride in seeing [[HoistByHisOwnPetard the representative prove how bad that proposal would've been for him]].
* As he's a friendly old man with a humble job, it's hard to really piss him off. [[WebVideo/YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries Make jokes about him lusting over Black Luster Soldier]] and he'll just go "ah, I see you're a fan of that abridged series". Some people do piss him off, though. Though a bit of a pervert, he's far from the creep that Nobuyuki Sugou is. His abuse of the virtual world's gaming system and general sleaze-baggery made him permanently blacklisted from Kame Game. No, the fact he has no interest in Duel Monsters or the other games at his shop doesn't change that. He's definitely not a fan of Yoshihiro Kira either. For one, he's worried his Stand ability might cause some chaos if he gets access to Duel Monster cards, despite Yoshihiro saying "that's not how my Stand works [[HypocriticalHumor you old fool!]]" More seriously, Yoshihiro is aiding and enabling his SerialKiller of a son and making Morioh a less safe place. The ghostly Stand user tried to defend his actions by saying he's making up for his wife's abuse[[note]]according to Araki's comments; it's not mentioned in the manga to avoid making Kira too sympathetic[[/note]], only for Sugoroku [[FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse to say that's a BS excuse]].
* While an expert gambler, Sugoroku Muto knows that eventually, your luck will run out. This is but one of many reasons why he has absolutely no interest in playing any game with the D'arby brothers, who he's naturally horrified [[LostHimInACardGame by them gambling with human lives]]. Daniel at least finds his refusal to duel unfortunate, [[VillainRespect since he respect for his skill]], but Telence is just an ass so he doesn't care. Yugi is glad they aren't trying to antagonize his grandpa outright since the way their Stands work is highly reminiscent of a Shadow Game. However Sugoroku is fine gambling for smaller wagers like a chocolate milkshake. Him and Tsunade decided to gamble over who pays for a month's worth of bento boxes with a game of Duel Monsters...Sugoroku won, though she insists that this was unfair because it was her first time playing Duel Monsters. [[FriendlyRivalry They'll still make friendly wagers, just with more fair games]].
* Has a bit of a complicated opinion on Grunkle Stan. Sugoroku sees him as a troublemaker, a swindler a washout...but also a good friend, who reminds him of some of the stuff he got up to back in the day. Stan wishes that he did more higher stake gambling with him and [[HypocriticalHumor thinks he's a bit of a washout]], but this comes off more as friendly ribbing. While Yugi's grandfather is annoyed by Bubs and his swindling ways, he sees in Stan Pines a more devious version of himself but really fun company, [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold who'll prove his worth when he needs to]].

Three major gods had their own take on sacrifice. Huitzilopochtli is the war deity of sacrifice that had the traditional heart-ripping out maneuver. Tlaloc is a rain and water god who's sacrifice involved dressing up seven children in the style of Tlaloc before pulling out their hearts, and the children crying before reaching the designated shrine was considered a good omen for abundant rain. The festival of Tozoztontli involved more child sacrifices in caves. And Xipe Totec, who flayed himself to feed humanity, has his sacrifices skinned and priests wore that skin

The titular gauntlet is perhaps the most powerful macguffin of Marvel Comics (at least excluding one-offs like the Heart Of The Universe). It's a gauntlet that can take in one of the Infinity Gems/Stones, which makes you at least a RealityWarper of the gem/stone's aspect. Having all six makes you TheOmnipotent of whatever universe they're a part of, though like a TV remote doing so in another gets an out of range
** '''[[Series/Loki2021 Loki Odinson (Variant L1130) and Sylvie Laufeydottir]], God and Goddess Of [[AlternateSelfShipping Being Shipped With Your Counterpart]]''' (Hall of Clones and Counterparts)-two of the main leads of the Loki series. Sylvia is a genderswapped version of Loki, and the Loki in this series is a variant from the timeline created when the Avengers went back in 2012 to get the Space Stone. Fans frequently shipped them together, which is only helped by the fact there is some serious ScrewYourself subtext. [[spoiler:It ends up becoming somewhat canon]]
** '''[[WesternAnimation/AmericanDad The Golden Turd]]''': a restoration to the Grand Treasury. The accursed stool was created by Roger after a bad meal, and acts similarly to the One Ring; everyone who gets access to it will inevitably be corrupted by greed and become obsessed by its power. A potent ArtifactOfAttraction and ArtifactOfDoom, without exception, they will suffer a terrible fate because of it. [[spoiler:Roger has to resort to time travel to stop it's madness...and it more delays the inevitable than anything]]. [[https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13955282570A87068500&page=3970 Draft here]]%%Proposed 1/3
** '''[[WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy Cleveland Orenthal Brown]], God of [[AbandonedCatchphrase Abandoned Catchphrases]]''' (Hall of Phrases, TrueNeutral)-Cleveland is the straight man of Peter's pals. He didn't have many quirks, but one of the things he was known is RapidFireNo, caused by him and his bathtub falling due to Peter's shenanigans. When this eventually lead to him leaving Quahog the catchphrase was dropped in the spin-off, and would remain dropped when he returned to the main show.%%Proposed 1/3
** '''[[Manga/{{Berserk}} The Dragonslayer]]''': a restoration for the Great Treasury. The Dragonslayer is one of the key visual features of the main protagonist Guts, and his primary weapon. It is an absolutely huge and unwieldy sword made with the intent to slay a dragon. Guts can use it to slay Apostles, and it becomes more tempered in the blood and viscera of the supernatural it becomes a more effective sword against them. It is the sword part of his name "the Black Swordsman"
** '''[[Manga/{{Berserk}} Rickert]], God of SerendipitousSurvival''': Rickert is along with Guts and Casca the only survivor of the original Band of the Hawk. Unlike them his survival was nothing sort of coincidental. Right before Griffith's Behelit activated he was sent off to look for water, which means he wasn't present for the Eclipse. As such, he's an important ally of Guts and Casca post-Eclipse and is initially LockedOutOfTheLoop
** '''[[Franchise/Ben10 Corrodium]]''': restoration of an idea made by worldofdraken. Corrodium is a notable phlebotinum from the Ben 10 franchise, mainly associated with aliens from the Anur system. It's this purple and potent energy source that acts as a mutagen to most non-Anur lifeforms, and is a plot device by Zs'skayr and his associates. [[https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13955282570A87068500&page=4468 Original version here]]
** '''[[Franchise/Ben10 The Anur System]], Celestial Seat Of [[HomeOfMonsters Monster-Inhabited Worlds]]''': restoration of an idea made by worldofdraken. The Anur System is a mysterious and spooky star system in the Ben 10 universe. It is a MonsterMash where the aliens there look and act very similarly to classical monsters and spooky folks from Earth. They've got aliens that are like ghosts, mummies, Frankenstein's Monster, werewolves and even vampires...well, sort of, Vladats are endangered nowadays.
** '''[[Literature/XeeleeSequence The Interim Coalition Of Governance]], Unholy [[TheDictatorship Dictatorship]]''' (Hall of Manners Of Authority)-the Coalition is one the most extreme, psychopathic dictatorships in fiction. Think [[Literature/NinteenEigthyFour Oceania]] meets the LensmanArmRace. They're a totalitarian oligarchical dictatorship that uses omnipresent indoctrination, [[DystopiaJustifiesTheMeans thinks humanity should be in a state of constant suppression in order to be human]], will erase dissidents, commit genocide for even the pettiest of reasons ([[FateWorseThanDeath or make you wish they did]]) and [[AbsoluteXenophobe despises everyone and everything else]]
** '''[[Literature/XeeleeSequence The Spline]], Deified [[LivingShip Living Ships]]''' (Hall of Air Travel)-adopted from Someone 404. The Spline used to be whale-like creatures living on a faraway planet. After a chance encounter with another alien species, they chose to redesign themselves into SpaceWhale like starships. Their nervous systems are wired into a control deck, their pores hold weapon and sensor emplacements, and specialized organs are used to keep passengers alive, among other adaptations. %%Greater Gods
** '''[[WesternAnimation/SouthPark Officer Barbrady and Sergeant Harrison Yates]], Co-Gods of [[PoliceAreUseless Useless Police]]''': the world of South Park is one full of idiots, and the police are no exception. Barbrady and Yates represent police incompetence, but in different ways. While Barbrady is technically a TokenGoodCop, he's a complete idiot who was illiterate until "Chickenlover" and is usually unable to deal with the situation at hand. Yates is somewhat smarter, however he's a stereotypical BigotWithABadge who joined the force to frame and arrest minorities, and when he's not being corrupt he's usually failing to solve the case like not picking up the hints [[ObviouslyEvil Michael Deets]] is the SerialKiller he's looking for%%Proposed 1/3
