-->--'''Raven'''

The one with many Ravens.

Also the one with the Japanese theme song. The ''first'' one.

The Titans encounter a villain by the name of Dr. Light (guess what his powers are), and he rather surprisingly makes easy work of them. Well, ''four'' of them to be exact; when the last one comes forward (and yes, you've got one guess as to who it is... and about five seconds before we tell you anyway), he gets his ass handed straight back to him beyond big time. By that, we mean he managed to piss Raven off so hard that '''she made him go insane with no effort'''. So over the top was her takedown of Doctor Light in fact that even the other four Titans were horrified... and who wouldn't be after seeing such a terrifying amount of power unleashed on someone like that? When Beast Boy tries to ask Raven exactly what the hell they just saw go down, she simply snarls at him and angrily trudges off into the distance. Cue title sequence!

!!This episode provides examples of:
* ActuallyPrettyFunny: Pink Raven laughs at Beast Boy's joke about air fresheners, then makes a comment implying this is also how she views most of his remarks, even if she doesn't laugh out loud at them.
* AllYourPowersCombined: Raven beats Trigon by combining all the aspects of her personality.
* ApologisesALot: Gray Raven. As she and the other two navigate the maze she apparently spends the time apologising for every little slight and insult she made against them. Both grow tired of this eventually.
* BattleInTheCenterOfTheMind: Raven fights Trigon (or rather, her personal rage in the form of her father) within her mental world.
* BeamOWar: Raven, after merging with her emoticlones, had one of these against Trigon and winning, allowing herself, Cyborg and Beast Boy to escape her mind.
* BeneathTheMask: Despite Raven's generally icy demeanor, this episode shows her emotions personified, and allows us to learn more about the feelings and opinions she keeps underneath. Happy Raven reveals that she actually finds Beast Boy's jokes funny, and Timid Raven apologizes for all her snarky insults, implying that she feels bad about it on some level.
* BerserkButton: This is the first time where we see Raven completely blowing a fuse, and ''god damn''. There's of course what happens to Dr. Light, though she also doesn't take it well upon finding out that Beast Boy and Cyborg have accidentally transported themselves straight into her mind while snooping around her room; though being very close friends and all, she fortunately doesn't blast them full of extradimensional MindRape like she did with Dr. Light.
* BewareTheQuietOnes: So we know Raven is the more reserved member of the team, and that she tends to do nothing more than take snarky shots at anyone who annoys her, but '''HOLY FUCKING SHIT'''. Never before have we seen her THIS pissed off. Until now. And if you manage to piss off Raven to the extent seen here, you've got to be an exclusive kind of {{Jerkass}}.
* BoisterousBruiser: Green Raven is much more....gung-ho then standard Raven. You expect her to join Cyborg in a "BOO-YA!"
* ButtMonkey: This episode sets the trend of Dr. Light being put up against the Teen Titans, only to have his ass handed to him - usually always by Raven alone.
* ChekhovsGunman: Trigon does not appear in the series proper again until Season Four, where he is the BigBad.
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Raven's alter egos wear cloaks of different colors that match up with the emotion they represent.
* CurbStompBattle: Zig-Zagged; Dr. Light was introduced to be subjected to these frequently, but actually holds his own against the Titans. [[MindRape Then Raven comes up to bat]].
* DarkIsEvil: This episode toes the line between these this and DarkIsNotEvil. On the one hand, Raven must be careful to keep her dark side in balance, and on the other, she learns not to hide it from the others and from herself.
* DotingParent: Robin and Starfire play the ParentalSubstitute variety when Raven shut herself in the room. Starfire plays the role of the [[MyBelovedSmother worried mother]] who wants to see how Raven's doing, while Robin plays the father who prefers to give Raven her own space. PlayedForLaughs mostly.
-->'''Starfire:''' Please, let us simply--\
'''Robin:'''[''struggling to barely hold Starfire back from knocking on Raven's door, with heavy implication Star isn't using her full strength for his sake''] RAVEN ASKED US NOT TO DISTURB HER!
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: The Trigon figment in Raven's mind has very different vocal characterization and design than the real one later on; he's played by Creator/KeithSzarabajka, whose voice is much less deep than Creator/KevinMichaelRichardson's, and his eyes are yellow instead of red, along with lacking the horns iconic to the character.
* EnemyCompassion: After Raven nearly kills Dr. Light, Robin and Starfire go to comfort the villain they had just been fighting, with Robin telling Dr. Light that "Everything will be all right".
* EvilIsNotAToy: The magic mirror is a gateway to Raven's subconscious, not a toy to be messed with. When the original Raven arrives to try and get Beast Boy and Cyborg out, she furiously makes this statement clear.
* ExactWords: When Beast Boy and Cyborg are left behind by Pink Raven in the happier part of the mirror, Beast Boy quips that next time he sees her, it won't be pretty. The "pretty" illusion of the world fades as he says this.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: This episode is more or less a future glimpse of [[Recap/TeenTitansS4E13TheEndPartThree Season 4's finale.]]
* GenkiGirl: Pink Raven is giggly and ''happy''. She even laughs at Beast Boy's jokes. He and Cyborg are rather unnerved by this.
--> '''Cyborg:''' Have you ever seen her this happy?
--> '''Beast Boy:''' Dude, I didn't even know Raven could ''do'' happy.
* GoingInCircles: With ConversationCut twist. A dissolve suddenly takes Cyborg and Beast Boy back to the place they landed after falling through Raven's MagicMirror.
-->'''Cyborg:''' Hey, I know where we are! We're in that place where I didn't know where we were before.
* GravityScrew: Pink Raven, standing upside down, asks "What's up?" The scene then flips, making Cyborg and Beast Boy fall.
* HotBlooded: Green Raven is the opposite of Raven's dry apathy by being more passionate.
* HulkingOut: Dr. Light learns the hard way as to what happens to people who piss off Raven to the extent that she goes into eldritch mode.
* IronicEcho: Cyborg warns that no one else is allowed in Raven's room, same as how Raven herself says when Jynx explored it. While she only messed with Raven's clothes, Beast Boy and Cyborg touched a magic mirror, which is much worse.
* JourneyToTheCenterOfTheMind: Beast Boy and Cyborg accidentally get sucked into Raven's mental realm and spend the episode looking for the exit.
* LiteralSplitPersonality: Plays with this, with Raven having seven alters that represent her emotions.
* MindRape: Raven subjects Dr. Light to [[NothingIsScarier something terrifying]] in the pocket dimension inside her cloak. He emerges battered, shell shocked and develops a severe phobia of her afterward.
* RageBreakingPoint: Oh yeah, great idea Dr. Light! Completely disregard Raven's warning not to get any closer ''and'' continue taunting her in the process! What's she going to do to you? You've had the upper hand on her so fa- ''[[HulkingOut WHOA HOLY FUCK!]]''
* ShrinkingViolet: Gray Raven is shy, passive and lacks the dry snark of Raven.
* SlasherSmile: When Raven's inner demon surfaces against Doctor Light, she shows a toothy and lopsided smile along with glowing eyes which promise nothing but pain and fear.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: Yellow Raven is her intellectual side.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: This episode explores the sides of Raven's personality; she actually has a lot of emotion, different kinds of emotion, and cares more about her friends then she lets on.
* SugarBowl: Between all the nightmarish landscapes that Beast Boy and Cyborg run into is one of these. It comes complete with floating strawberries. Beast Boy quips, "This must be where air fresheners come from."
* {{Understatement}}: "Let’s just say I have issues with my father."
* VariationsOnAThemeSong: This is the first episode where the theme song is in Japanese, which happens whenever an episode is going to be outright bizarre. Though it is worth mentioning that this episode is nowhere ''near'' as strange as later ones where this happens.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: The four-eyed Red Raven does not appear again in the TV show, even when Season Four provides many opportunites. She does, however, appear in the tie-in comic.
* YouWouldntLikeMeWhenImAngry: Raven warns Dr. Light not to make her angry. It doesn't take long before he gets the idea.
