With South Park gentrifying, Kenny decides to get a job at City Wok. Meanwhile, Mayor [=McDaniels=] and the town's adults try to convince an inspector how progressive South Park is in order to build a Whole Foods.
----
!!The City Part of Town includes examples of:
* AccidentalMisnaming: Mr. Kim keeps calling Kenny "Dennis", probably due to mishearing his muffled speech.
* AuthorAvatar: Lu Kim is this in the face of how PC the whole episode is.
* BreatherEpisode: After 2 episodes of heavily lampooning political correctness and insulting celebrities, this episode is much tamer. Or rather, it appears to be.
* CallBack: To be expected with the continuous plot line.
** Kyle is still getting told to stop making speeches.
** Garrison's replacement is seen.
** Garrison's presidential campaign is seen.
** When Randy introduces the [=SoDoSoPa=] plan, he mentions that he's been PC for about two weeks.
* Foreshadowing: Mayor [=McDaniels=] calls Craig homosexual, much to his annoyance. Bet that's not coming up again anytime soon.
* Hypocrite: The boys regularly insult and even harm anything and everything from celebrities to special interest groups and then some with total sincerity... but are deeply offended by Jimmy Fallon ribbing them on his show.
** Also the city claims their [=SoDoSoPa=] is helping poor residents (the [=McCormick=]s) when all they're doing is making the surrounding area look nice all while doing nothing to help them like offering them employment or paying them to use their property.
** PC Principal mentions some people having to be "dragged kicking and screaming" into 2015. Bit rich considering his debut episode showed him throwing a tantrum in every single scene.
** Kenny's dad barking at Karen to stop whining over not getting any ice cream or gourmet food outside and just go work a job, when he himself is an unemployed bum and earlier made a speech about providing well for his family.
* InsistentTerminology: The [=SoDoSoPa=] refers to the area as "Kenny's house" rather than the [=McCormick=] house.
* TheInspectorIsComing: South Park's desperate to impress the representative from Whole Foods.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Kenny's dad stating that getting a job is for suckers. Not only does Kenny get paid very little when he tries to get a job, but in many real-life economies it's not unusual for low-skill occupations to pay less than welfare handouts, sometimes even paying nothing on the basis that it's volunteer work.
* KickTheDog:
** How Kenny's parents treat his sister Karen, with Kenny's mom wearing an "I'm with Stupid" shirt pointed at her and Kenny's dad telling her to just get a job and stop whining about not getting ice cream. To be fair, that is the shirt that Kenny's mom has worn throughout the entire series, and usually it points at his dad when they're sharing a scene.
** Randy literally kicks Kenny when the latter tries to stand up to him.
* MontageOut: The episode ends with a montage of people at Whole Foods
* PetTheDog: While Mr. Kim makes use of child labor, he does try to treat his employees well and regrets that he can't pay Kenny more for his hard work.
* PunBasedTitle: Just imagine the episode title being said in Lu Kim's JapaneseRanguage accent. The fact that the name of his own gentrified district is [[TitleDrop [=CtPa=] Town]] takes the cake.
* StatusQuoIsGod: The town gentrified the land where the [=McCormick=]s live just so they could get a Whole Foods Market to show how "progressive" they are. When they got the Whole Foods Market, that part of town went straight to shit again.
* SurprisinglyHappyEnding: Mr. Kim's attempt to gentrify the shitty part of town seemingly fails, and he and Kenny are resigned to their fates (Mr. Kim's failing business, and Kenny's house having [=SoDoSoPa=]). The commercial for the town that closes the episode reveals that [=CtPa=] Town ended up serving as the home of South Park's Whole Foods, causing City Wok to regain customers, while [=SoDoSoPa=] is left to rot, allowing Kenny's family to live in peace.
* TakeThat:
** Primarily towards gentrification, through showing the aftereffects from the point-of-view of the people it harms: the low-income areas refurbished in order to cater to upper middle class yuppies and hipsters causes most or all of the low-income residents to move out and small local businesses to close due to a combination of decreased business and increased operating costs. Several viewers have talked about how uncannily the [=SoDoSoPa=] commercials mirror the commercials for real gentrified areas.
** Whole Foods Market, for their practice of only opening franchise locations in gentrified "artisan" neighborhoods frequented by hipsters and yuppies.
** On a meta-level, the whole episode was a take that to the critics and people who hate the show for being politically incorrect, by having the episode be an example of what the show would look like if it was as politically correct as they want it to be.
* TokenMinority: A number of them get roped into participating in the Whole Foods commercial.
-->Cartman: Are the Mexicans actually staying?
-->Kyle: Shh.
* VillainousGentrification: The town gentrifies the area around Kenny's house.
