->''"You've been accused of pretending to be someone you're not, so from now on, ''no-one'' will be who they claim to be! I'm giving you the power to invert anyone -- the strong will become weak, the brave will become cowards, and the kind will become mean! In return, you will seize Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous for me."''

Marinette hatches a plan to have Nathaniel and another student named Marc work on a comic together; unfortunately, it doesn't work the way she hopes.

!!Tropes
* AmbiguouslyGay: Marc is shown to be very effeminate, seems to use makeup, has visible eyelashes (unlike a majority of the male characters on the show), and is confirmed by Astruc to have been based on a bisexual friend.
** According to official sources, he's the LGBT character Astruc said would be introduced and he indeed has a crush on Nathaniel.
* AscendedFanboy: Marc uses Nathaniel's sketches from the school's website as inspiration for his story "The Diary of Ladybug", and geeks out hard when he has a chance to see the originals. By the end of the episode, he and Nathaniel have combined the two into a comic.
* BadassBystander: Both Alix and Nathaniel assist the heroes in the final fight against Reverser.
* BaitAndSwitch:
** Chloé and Sabrina appear early on, setting up a recipe for yet another swift akumatization at her hands. However, Alix drives her off without incident, and Marc is instead akumatized by a combination of Marinette's {{poor communication|Kills}} and Nathaniel picking up the JerkassBall.
** InUniverse, Nathaniel is given a comic book script with the title "The Diary of Ladybug" with the author's name removed, and reads the opening scene about Ladybug having a crush on the Evillustrator (Nathaniel). He goes to meet the anonymous author under the impression that it's Ladybug confessing her feelings for him, but sees Marc and is disappointed and offended, believing it to have been a prank by him and Marinette.
* BatmanGambit: Reverser manages to hit Ladybug with an airplane by sending a civilian falling into the river. Ladybug manages to rescue him, but is caught off guard and unable to block the airplane.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: Several people in Paris are protesting against the idea of sending garbage into space. While under Reverser's power, the Mayor decides to have it fall back into Paris.
* BroughtDownToNormal: Reverser's curse takes away Ladybug's skill and athleticism, making her an even worse klutz than she is as a civilian. It doesn't erase her Lucky Charm powers, however, allowing her to fix things with an assist from Nathaniel and Alix.
* BondVillainStupidity: After both Ladybug and Cat Noir get inverted, escaping into the river to avoid capture, Reverser convinces Hawk Moth to let him settle his personal scores first and then take the Miraculous, since they're no threat to him in their current state. Hawk Moth isn't happy about it, but agrees.
* CallBack: This episode features Nathaniel's Ladybug and Evillustrator drawings following the events of "Evillustrator".
** The drawing also features the pair fighting Queen Wasp, from the episode of the same name.
* ColonyDrop: Mayor Bourgeois has started a program to have his city's trash launched into space in rocket-propelled containers. Reverser uses his powers to make the mayor direct these containers to crash back into Paris, and uses the resulting threat of annihilation to force Ladybug and Cat Noir to capitulate to his demands.
* ContinuityNod:
** Xavier Ramier aka Mr. Pigeon is Reverser's first victim; upon being hit by one of his reversing airplanes, [[AnimalsHateHim pigeons now fly away from him]].
** Alix's father also makes an appearance.
** Kung Food appears in Marc's story as a villain defeated by Evillustrator.
* CowardlyLion: Cat Noir is cursed with cowardice, but he's willing to be blindfolded and flown on a kite.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Nathaniel and Alix get prominent focus in this episode.
* DramaticIrony: At the end of the episode, Nathaniel and Marc dedicate the first issue of their comic book to Marinette, who in their words "would make a super superhero...if she wasn't such a klutz!" The events of the episode show that Marinette can be incredibly heroic even as a klutz.
* EverybodyLaughsEnding: The episode ends with the art club (including Marinette) laughing at Nathaniel and Marc's joke about her clumsiness.
* EvilSoundsDeep: Marc's voice deepens when he is akumatized.
* FamilyFriendlyFirearms: Lieutenant Roger is a policeman but he's only carrying around a toy gun. [[RefugeInAudacity He still manages to rob a bank with it.]]
* GoodColorsEvilColors: Marc wears a multicolor shirt, and his name is a pun on the French word for "rainbow". As Reverser, however, his whole design is [[GreyscaleOfEvil black and white]].
* HeelFaceTurn: InUniverse, the Evillustrator and Reverser become good guys and team up with Ladybug and Cat Noir in Nathaniel and Marc's comic book. The "bad guy turning good" trope is lampshaded by the art teacher.
* HostageForMacGuffin: Reverser threatens to have the mayor crush Paris under space garbage unless Ladybug and Cat Noir give up their Miraculous, along with Nathaniel and Marinette. Ladybug gets him to settle for just Cat Noir and Nathaniel as part of her gambit.
* HypocriticalHumour: Adrien tells Marinette that it's rude to spy on people. The same Adrien who has a minor RunningGag of sneaking up on Marinette at the worst times.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Reverser uses paper airplanes as a weapon.
* JerkassBall: After finding out that the book was made by Marc instead of Ladybug, Nathaniel is quick to accuse him of messing with him for kicks. When Marc tries to explain that he just wanted to write a comic book with him, Nathaniel declares that that will never happen before ripping up the book.
* MeaningfulRename: In Nathaniel's comic book, Evillustrator changes his name to Mightillustrator after he becomes a hero.
* MirrorSelf: Invoked by Reverser, who inverts people's characteristics and/or personalities. For example, Chloé becomes the BetaBitch and Sabrina the AlphaBitch.
* NotSoDifferentRemark: Marc remarks that Marinette is almost as [[ShrinkingViolet shy]] as he is after watching her stumble over her words when talking to Adrien. She encourages him to "[[HypocrisyNod do as I say, not as I do.]]".
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Ladybug tries to warn Cat Noir against Reverser, which just distracts him enough to get hit by Reverser's paper airplane.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: When Nathaniel goes to Alix to talk about feeling mocked by Marinette and Marc, Alix points out that there has to be some miscommunication error, as "It's [[NiceGirl Marinette]].".
* OhCrapThereAreFanficsOfUs: A rare [[SubvertedTrope Subversion]]: Marinette is actually a bit flattered that her heroics inspire artists like Marc and Nathaniel, and tries to get them to combine their efforts.
* OutOfFocus: Adrien only appears as his civilian self in two scenes (one of which is just before his transformation), and doesn't appear in the ending scene.
* PoorCommunicationKills: The conflict happens because Marinette gives Nathaniel "The Diary of Ladybug" and, in an agreement with Marc, doesn't tell him who wrote it. Nathaniel assumes the diary to be real but, at Marinette's insistence that he not ask about the author, doesn't confirm his suspicions. So he is surprised and immediately suspicious to see Marc in place of Ladybug at the park and turns to find Marinette watching from afar via her phone, leading him to assume he is being pranked. His resulting anger upsets Marc, who is then akumatized.
* SelfInsertFic: Nathaniel's drawings are basically real Ladybug adventures but with a reformed Evillustrator as her partner. When he and Marc make their comic book together, Reverser joins them as well.
* ShoutOut:
** [[ComicBook/SpiderMan A red-outfitted bug-themed hero fights a glider-flying villain who uses throwable weapons.]]
** [[ActorAllusion A character]] voiced by Creator/BrycePapenbrook [[VisualNovel/DanganronpaTriggerHappyHavoc fights a villain with a black-and-white body]].
* ShyBlueHairedGirl: Gender-inverted with Marc, who is introduced sitting beneath the stairs writing a story to accompany Nathaniel's sketches.
* TruceZone: The art room (Room 33) is clearly meant to be this as the art teacher gently calls Alix out for mocking Chloé's artistic endeavors.
