Additionally, the titles introduced here abandoned the howlaround techniques that had been used since the show's inception in 1963, instead using slit-scan photography inspired by the Star Gate sequence in ''Film/TwoThousandOneASpaceOdyssey'' to depict the viewer traveling through the time vortex, a format which the Revival Series would revisit via CGI.
