Behold, another story that was the byproduct of a screenwriting contest aimed at children, after last year's "[[Recap/DoctorWho2011StSSDeathIsTheOnlyAnswer Death Is the Only Answer]]". In 2012, the Eleventh Doctor and company were stuck in [[Recap/DoctorWhoS6E2TheMindRobber the Land of Fiction]] and made an appeal on ''Series/BluePeter'' for somebody to write a story for them to get out. That should be your first clue [[BizarroEpisode things are about to operate really high on the silly spectrum]]. "Good as Gold" is more of a "[[BroadStrokes let the writers do as they please]]" story, after all, being a children's script. This is a LighterAndSofter tale, where the rules don't apply on continuity because it's taking place in a fictitious reality. Anything is possible, even things that don't make sense. Naturally, characters act even goofier than usual. That, and a Weeping Angel is thrown in to mix, with extra powers just for fun.

* CanonDiscontinuity: As with the [[Recap/DoctorWho2011StSSDeathIsTheOnlyAnswer previous]] script-to-screen special, although this one has the excuse of happening in the Land of Fiction.
* ContinuityNod: The Doctor [[Recap/DoctorWhoS28E11FearHer once again]] winds up in the 2012 UsefulNotes/OlympicGames.
* DesperateObjectCatch: The torchbearer does this via DivingSave when the Weeping Angel steals, then drops, his torch.
* ForTheEvulz: The Weeping Angel is going to steal the Olympic torch, which represents the good will and spirit of the Olympics, just because it can. This isn't about feeding, the Angel just wants to ruin everyone's day.
* IMeantToDoThat: When you turn on the adventure setting, apparently it's ''supposed'' to emit sparks and blow bits up. And give the Doctor a facefull of steam, ruining his hair.
* SeriesContinuityError: This episode directly contradicts "[[Recap/DoctorWhoS28E11FearHer Fear Her]]" where the Doctor is the one carrying the Olympic Torch in the stadium.
