During a search for a Japanese antique, Linda tries fixing up Teddy with Helen, Louise and Tina try setting him up with a kindly Irish widow, and the boys try their hand at sink repair.
----
!!The Trope Hunt:
* AchievementsInIgnorance: Bob and Gene manage to fix the sink without any idea of what they're doing. Then the faucet pops off the sink.
* BrickJoke: Gene says he and Bob work for Music/FleetwoodMac Plumbing near the start of their search for the netsuke. Over the end credits, Gene and Bob sing Fleetwood Mac’s “You Make Loving Fun” (with “loving” changed to “plumbing”).
* BrutalHonesty: While trying to reassure Teddy that he has a chance with Helen, Linda rather bluntly says that Helen has no reason to go out with him.
* ChekhovsGunman: The blind man who enlists Bob and Gene as plumbers mentions a cat that lives in the apartment. Said cat shows up the end when it attacks Helen and breaks the netsuke she nearly killed Teddy over.
* DoItYourselfPlumbingProject: Bob is mistaken for a plumber by a blind man who asks him to fix his sink faucet. After much work, he manages to get it running again, only for the faucet to fly off from the water pressure.
* ElevatorFailure: Teddy tries to get the netsuke on top of the out-of-order elevator, but the car drops and Teddy ends up hanging for dear life on the counterweight.
* Foil: Kathleen to Helen. They both have dead husbands, but while it's heavily implied Helen murdered her husband, Kathleen's died in an accident. Also, while Helen is money-hungry to the point of putting Teddy's life in danger, Kathleen is content with living in a small apartment and didn't even try to sue over her husband's death.
* Foreshadowing:
** Teddy mentions the loose floorboard and the broken elevator early on when they enter the apartment building. Both play a crucial role in the climax.
** Bob notes a strange pipe in the hallway which doesn't seem to be attached to anything. This later provides a clue to the hiding place of the netsuke.
* KickTheDog:
** Helen lets Teddy nearly fall to his doom in favor of getting the valuable antique netsuke. Linda is instantly convinced that Helen may or may not be a murderer, but she's definitely a selfish bitch who doesn't deserve Teddy.
** Helen welches on the $50 reward she promised despite just getting a valuable item worth much more than that.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Helen seems ready to win the day after nearly letting Teddy fall to his doom. Then she drops her prize a few feet down the stairs (and gets attacked by a cat in the process), breaking it and rendering it worthless.
* Malaproper: Linda can't get the hang of pronouncing "netsuke", calling it things like "Netscape", "Netflixie", "Napster", or "Nescafé".
* PlumbersCrack: Gene jokes about it as he and Bob get to work fixing the blind man's sink.
* RunningGag: Linda calling the netsuke anything but its actual name.
* ShipperOnDeck: Linda wants Teddy to hook up with Helen, seeing her as the rich princess from a fairy tale. Tina, on the other hand, believes shy, awkward Kathleen to be a better match for Teddy, and deliberately sabotages the hunt in order to have Teddy stay longer with Kathleen. Linda jumps ship at the end when it becomes clear just how horrible Helen is.
* ShipToShipCombat: Happens in-universe between Linda and Tina over which woman Teddy should hook up with.
* ShoutOut: Louise calls Tina to investigate a pipe by saying that "the pipes are calling them", a reference to the song "Danny Boy". Louise and Kathleen actually explain this to Tina, because she doesn't understand the reference to the song.
* SkewedPriorities: When Teddy is literally about to die by falling down the elevator shaft, Helen's sole focus is on finding the netsuke. She actually tries to stop Bob from helping Teddy because doing so could cause the netsuke to break.
* ThrowTheDogABone: It's heavily implied that Kathleen actually likes Teddy.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Helen lost all of the charm she had in her last appearance. Considering the implication that she's a BlackWidow, there's every chance that this episode is just her real personality on display.
* TreasureHuntEpisode: The Belchers help Teddy look for a netsuke (a small ornamental carving worn with traditional Japanese clothing) in the shape of two snails intertwined that used to belong to Helen's husband, which is believed to be hidden in an apartment building he used to own.
* VillainousBreakdown: When the artefact Helen spent the whole day searching for breaks, she's reduced to screaming insults at her deceased husband and his secret abode at having lost a good sum of money.
