!!This episode provides examples of:

* AbusiveParents: Lana's parents were so oblivious to how controlling they were with Lana, pushing her to become a scientist so much that, when she was a kid, she ''threw up'' on the way to the science fair (they thought she vomited out of ''excitement''). At least Lemuel comes to terms with this and apologizes to her.
* BigRottenApple: Krieger, Cheryl, Pam, and Cyril get stranded when Krieger's van breaks down in Brownsville. Not only is this an actual neighborhood in Brooklyn, but throughout much of the 20th century it was one of the most infamous neighborhoods in New York for poverty, crime, and gang related activity. (Including being the birthplace for MurderInc) In the 21st century it has been one of the few neighborhoods in New York where gentrification has had little to no effect, meaning the show's depiction of it is actually not that much of an exaggeration.
* CarChase: A large chunk of the episode consists of Archer, Lana, and Lana's father Lemuel in a car chase after the men who stole Lemuel's research.
* CoolCar: Lem's '68 Mustang GT Fastback. Archer is quite happy to get to drive it as it's the car from ''Film/{{Bullitt}}''. The CIA get in on the car coolness too, with a blacked-out '68 Charger R/T.
* DumbassHasAPoint: Archer ends up mistaking Lem and Claudette trying to invite to their family reunion as a proposition for a threesome, but given everything that led up to it - both of them getting naked before joining him in the hot tub and wanting to let him in on a secret they don't want Lana to know about - it's not hard to see why he made that mistake. By the end, Lana apologizes and admits that she does see why Archer misinterpreted things.
* EmbarrassingMiddleName: Lana Anthony Kane
-->'''Lana''': After Susan B.!\
'''Archer''': Oh, right! Our ugliest president!
* EveryoneHasStandards: Despite being a shameless pervert, Archer is genuinely horrified and ashamed of himself when he misinterprets Lemuel and Claudette trying to invite to the Kane family reunion as a proposition for a threesome. Even before finding that out, he still seemed reluctant at the idea of a threesome with them.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Slater is sincerely apologetic over having broken in and opened fire on the Kanes' home when there was a baby in the house, and considering the money was transferred before Slater even made the offer, he clearly intended to compensate Lemuel for the loss of his research.
* EveryManHasHisPrice: Lana's father initially rejects Slater's bribe, until he informs the doctor that the amount ([[TheUnreveal though unrevealed]]) is a ''monthly'' payment for the rest of his life. He immediately agrees to bury his research.
* FaceHeelTurn: At least in regards to the planet, Lana's father is easily convinced to drop his anti-fossil fuel research in favor of getting exorbitant amounts of money every month for the rest of his life.
* PreemptiveShutUp: Lana to Archer when she learns he mistakenly suggested ThreeWaySex with her parents.
-->'''Archer''': I--\
'''Lana''': No... '''No!''' Do not talk! In fact, first thing tomorrow, you're going to the vet to get your vocal cords clipped!\
'''Archer''': How about "just put to sleep"?
* ShoutOut: The climactic CarChase through San Francisco is an homage to ''Film/{{Bullitt}}'', down to the cars involved being exact replicas. Archer immediately lampshades the whole thing.
-->'''Archer:''' I mean, if there was ever a time to wear the [[IconicOutfit tacticleneck]]!
* ShownTheirWork: Cheryl's comment about the irony of the neighborhood being called Brownsville when it was originally a Jewish neighborhood is entirely accurate.
* StrawmanU: The Kanes are academics at Berkeley, explaining how she got to be a SoapboxSadie. They insist on nudity (going "sky clad") in their hot tub, are appalled that Archer has a gun, and, when Lana confesses that she is working for the CIA, her father asks if she has helped overthrow any democratically-elected governments.
* TelevisionGeography: In what seems like it has to be a ShoutOut to ''Film/TheGraduate'''s very similar goof with SF bridges, Archer and Lana arrive at SFO only to take the Golden Gate Bridge to get to Berkeley as opposed to the much shorter route over the Bay Bridge; they even mess up the establishing shot by looking South, showing the bridge and SF instead of North toward the Marin side. The ensuing car chase takes them from Berkeley back into SF, again taking the Golden Gate Bridge, and even the episode's brief flashback features the Kanes illogically taking the Golden Gate Bridge into the City.
* TheyCallMeMisterTibbs: When Archer asks to call Lana's dad Lem, he agrees, so long as he pronounces it as '''Doctor Kane'''.
* ThreeWaySex: Archer comes to believe that Lana's parents are propositioning him for this and (fairly reluctantly) begins to go along with it. He's wrong, and it causes a lot of mortification and embarrassment.
-->'''Archer:''' Sorry I tried to spit-roast your mom.
* WatchThePaintJob: Toyed with. Archer is heartbroken that the bad guys are shooting at the Mustang he's driving, although it's Lemuel's car, not his. Lemuel doesn't seem too irritated over the damage to the car, surprisingly.
