* AlternateRealityGame: During the hiatus between Seasons 1 and 2, messages encrypted under a Caesar Cipher were suddenly dropped at the end of various DMP-related videos, starting with their [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_X-dLZ03-Q Halloween Special]]. The messages seem to correspond to the motives and wishes of the various characters that eventually led them to go with the Murder God. More appeared during the mid-season hiatus of Season 2, and during the hiatus between Seasons 2 and 3, Morse code and spectrograms were introduced as forms of encoding. Then, between Seasons 3 and 4, codes also appeared in ciphered German, ciphered French, and hexadecimal.
* AudienceParticipation: Donating bits[[note]]A way of donating money to streamers on Twitch.tv. Each bit is worth one US cent.[[/note]] during the streams will slowly fill up a meter. Once the meter is full, the Bit Wheel is spun, which will enact a variety of effects onto the players. The effects range from adding new roles to turning people into velociraptors, or even [[spoiler:giving the Murder God a conscience]]. Audience members who donate absurdly large numbers of bits at once, enough to fill the meter several times over, get to directly suggest scenarios and/or choose Bit Wheel effects to activate. In season 2, one can offer an improvisation prompt.
%%* AudienceWhatAudience: Usually started by Murder God or Dr. [=McGillicutty=].
%%* BeachEpisode: Scenario 1 of Episode 9 of both Season 1 and Season 2.
%%* BigBad: The Murder God (as played by Kristen) initiates all games.
* BigNo: Episode 11 Scenario 2. Loki[[labelnote: AKA]] Cabin Rat[[/labelnote]]'s response when told him that he doesn't have to throw Joe's body off the ship.
%%* BitchSlap: End of Episode 11. Vincent does one to Murder God.
* CallBack: Players will refer to previous scenarios should they be related. For example, In Episode 3 Scenario 3 characters will often call back to Episode 2 Scenario 1 as they are both based on popular TV. In addition, certain characters are able to remember past scenarios regardless of relation.
* TheCameo: Before adjusting Wheel spins, and what bit donations in another Internet Remix stream did, characters from other streams appeared in DMP scenarios -
** Momo Sans Vol, an Aarakocra cleric PlayerCharacter from a TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons campaign that Internet Remix streams, appeared as one of the characters in both Episode 8 Scenario 2 and Episode 9 Scenario 1, played by the same person.
** Thalia, a Wood Elf druid PlayerCharacter from a different Internet Remix TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons campaign, also appeared as a character in Episode 9 Scenario 1, and also played by the same person.
* CatchPhrase: The Murder God's is "It's fine! Don't worry about it." It also functions as a catchphrase for the game as a whole.
* TheChosenOne: Vinny for Murder God, [[spoiler:Murder God to Ælethias]], and any of the other Black Star’s Chosen.
%%* ChristmasEpisode: Murdermas, streamed December 16, 2018. It's non-canon.
* ContinuityNod: Cecil Underwood (played by [=JoJo=]). She's heavily implied to be the daughter of Frederick Underwood from Episode 2 Scenario 1.
* DeathByDisfigurement: Inverted. The sexy disease, the method of murder of Episode 4 Scenario 1, turns the person sexier before they die.
%%* DeathOfAChild: Multiple, a majority being played by [=JoJo=].
* DejaVu: Occurs in the Season 2 premiere when the Murder God [[spoiler:uses the exact same scenarios as Season 1's first episode]].
** [[spoiler:[untitled reference] is a broken record of all of Juno's past characters.]]
%%* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu:
%%** At the end of Episode 11, Vincent slapped the Murder God.
%%** Similarly, at the end of Season 2 Episode 1, Grace punched the Murder God.
%%* DoItYourselfThemeTune: Multiple, done by Alex or Juno. Juno did one 2 hours before the episode.
* EvolvingCredits: The openings of both Season 3 and Season 4.
** The Season 3 opening initially has images of all the Awakened at that time, alongside ones of the few remaining Sleepers, who have blank faces and lack a certain level of detail. As each of them awaken, their images regain both of these.
** The Season 4 opening changes in Episode 7 to reflect the absolute whirlwind of events that took place at the end of the midseason finale the episode before, overlapping with EvolvingMusic. [[spoiler:Chaos God replaces Murder God in the central throne, his Strings replace hers, and the Cutt-lective's images at the end are replaced with ones relating to Murder God.]]
* EvolvingMusic: The opening of Season 4 changes midway through the season to reflect the whirlwind of events that occurred in the midseason finale, overlapping with EvolvingCredits. [[spoiler:Murder God's verse and bridge are replaced with ones from Chaos God, Chaos God joins in singing in the third chorus, and Murder God replaces the Cutt-lective's concluding verse with her own.]]
* FormulaBreakingEpisode:
** Each scenario follows the general formula of the party game [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mafia_%28party_game%29 Mafia]], also known as Werewolf, with some minor variations. Season 2 Episode 3 Scenario 2, however, functions instead like a dice-rolling Tabletop Game. This has since become another staple gameplay style (instead of just Mafia) in order to change things up.
** [[spoiler: Season 2, Episode 14. The episode does not begin with the usual cast introduction and is not split into Scenarios, nor does it use either of the established gameplay styles. Instead, the episode consists of each of the Awakened (sans Christine) being placed in their own lotus-eater world, featuring a better, perfect version of their lives, and they then have to break themselves out of it, whether on their own or with the help of the others. The episode contains no character status boards; its visuals consist entirely of illustrations.]]
* FourthWallMailSlot: On the official [[https://internetremix.tumblr.com/ Internet Remix Tumblr]], the Murder God will occasionally answer questions about Discord Murder Party instead of the Internet Remix team members.
* HalloweenEpisode: Discord Spoopy Party the semi-canon episode.
* HeroicBSOD: Vincent during season 3. [[spoiler:The second War Scenario brings Vincent's brother-in-law as a reflection, not to mention the whole war scenario brings bad memories not only to Vincent, but Grace too, which also leads to a heated argument with [=McGillicutty=]. Not to mention that Vincent learns that his family isn't in the void as he thought, this leads to a BreakTheBadass, as in the following scenarios, he doesn't care, up until the mid season finale, where he wants to go back to sleep.]]
* HopeSpot: In Episode 7 Scenario 2, [[spoiler:Adric's character Tommy Gwendolyn appears to have awakened]]. However, in the first scenario of the following episode, [[spoiler:it is revealed that the awakening was botched, and Tommy has become glitched.]]
* LotusEaterMachine: Played Straight and Invoked by Murder God in Season 2, and Inverted by [[spoiler:Chaos God]] in Season 4. Exploited and Defied respectively by [[spoiler:Junior]]. [[spoiler:Vinny]] also defies the latter.
* MediumAwareness: Murder God, Dr. [=McGillicutty=] and [[spoiler:Vincent Reid to an extent]].
* MemeticMutation: Episode 3 Scenario 2. Memes have taken over the world. A small alliance of 9 people rebel, but two of them are sleeper agents for meme-kind.
%%* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler:Tommy's first attempt at awakening was botched.]]
* OffTheRails: Season 2, Episode 3, Scenario 2, took place in space. The obvious intent was a space battle against the marauding Jerks. Instead Tames T. Jerk (no relation) ended up seducing them. It got more insane from there.
%%* OurGodsAreDifferent: [[spoiler: The Black Stars Pantheon]]
* PowersThatBe: It has been implied at various points that [[spoiler:the Murder God is not running the games of her own free will, but due to the compulsion of some higher power or force.]]
* {{Pun}}:
** Episode 2 Scenario 2. Caren Blossom (as played by Queen) uses non-stop car puns, as she has the superpower of shooting cars from her wrist.
** Episode 4 Scenario 1. Mr. Skelly (played by Adric) makes multiple skeleton puns and he is a skeleton.
%%* PunnyName: Depending on the scenario characters have some.
%%** Episode 8 Scenario 1 with Rusty Deeno, Tito Rex and Dina Shur
%%** Episode 11 Scenario 1 with Reagon Cox and X Plosion
%%* ReligionOfEvil: The Black Stars Cult
* SecondLove: Despite the show initially pushing for Valencia to end up with Percy, the two end up separating on account of different end goals. In the end, Valencia goes for Ezra Crane.
%%* ShootTheDog: Episode 4 Scenario 1. [[spoiler: Fido is accused and dies.]]
* SplitPersonality: It is revealed in Episode 10 of Season 1 that [[spoiler: Grace has a split personality that appears to house her emotions and crank them up to eleven.]]
%%* TheWestern: Season 1, Episode 10 Scenario 1
* UnexpectedGameplayChange: Season 2, Episode 3 Scenario 2. Instead of the usual Mafia/Werewolf gameplay, it switches to a format reminiscent of tabletop games. [[spoiler:This was done by the Murder God to fulfill Percy's wish for something different.]]
* VerbalTic: In earlier episodes, Dr. [=McGillicutty=] often ends his statements with "HWAT HWAT HWAT!" He does this less often in later episodes, though, as his character becomes less and less of the joke character he was in the beginning.
* VillainousBreakdown: Although the Murder God has small tantrums when things do not go her way that could qualify, especially when any character truly awakens, there is one that really takes the cake. In Episode 14 of Season 2, [[spoiler:when the Awakened have broken out of their Lotus-Eater worlds and stand before her, she questions each one why they would want to leave, insisting to each of them in turn that it would be so much better than their current situation, becoming more and more desperate. After they all have rejected her implorations, she goes on a rant reminiscent of the beginning of the one from the first season's finale, which then quickly turns into her sobbing, wondering why no one ever wants to stay with her. %%It should be noted that, when the Awakened were in their lotus-eater dreamscapes, their illustrations had minimal color, if any, but once they broke out, color returned to them. When the Murder God has this breakdown, she slowly loses her color instead.%%]]
* WhamEpisode: Just about every season finale and mid-season finale could qualify, as well as many other episodes, but by far the most prominent is Season 4 Episode 6. [[spoiler:With the help of the just-revived Yugo, the Awakened form the Longinus Blade, the artifact they were seeking. After they each go through a personal trial, Stephen betrays the Awakened, stabbing the Murder God through her chest, and reveals himself to be working with Guy Le Cutaux and Mr. [=GcMillicutty=] to take the power of the Void for the former. However, Murder God then reveals that almost everything that happened over the previous episodes, including Yugo's revival and the Awakened manipulating the void through their own stories, was [[AllAccordingToPlan all part of her plan]] to gain the power she needs to stop the Black Stars. However ''again'', the four members of the Cutt-lective then reveal who and what they really are, as a figure calling himself the Chaos God emerges from Dr. [=McGillicutty's=] chest, detailing how he placed the four in the void both to entertain himself and to help him get the power he desired, and how his last obstacle--the Black Stars--was removed by Murder God sealing them out in [=S4E1=]. In their ensuing "conversation", he reveals her old name--Cassilda--and at its end proceeds to rip the Void out of her chest and take control of the Void for himself.]]
%%* WhamLine: [[spoiler: "My name is Vincent! Marshall! Reid!" ]]
%%** Season 3 Finale Part 2: [[spoiler: "A Hero dies, a child lives...Yugo Hernandez, step forward."]]
