3	* The possible (but luckily averted) fate of Evey at the beginning of the novel/movie. Particularly in the film, where the Fingermen are going to rape [[DisproportionateRetribution (and allegedly murder)]] her for just literally being in the wrong place [[FascistsBedTime at the wrong time]].
4	* The fate of all those captured by [[StateSec the Fingermen]]. After they are captured they just disappear. No one (not even their closest relatives) knows what happens to them after they've been taken -- apart from the Fingermen themselves. Even the ordinary police don't know it.
5	** Evey's memories of the loss of her parents. Her mother died of starvation when she was a child and the Fingermen arrested her father for an undisclosed reason.
6	** Gordon's sudden death by getting stabbed in the head with a cutlass.
7	* Eric Finch's hallucinations when he takes LSD at Larkhill. He first hallucinates two sacks hanging from the barb wire as the headless, limbless torsos of a man and a woman.
8	* How Norsefire used the FATE supercomputer. Not only is it BigBrotherIsWatchingYou, but they try to portray as being all-knowing, up to the point of able to make up-to-the-minute accurate weather predictions (one of which actually comes to pass). Even Oceania didn't go that far with their Big Brother figurehead.
9	* The Norsefire party - the idea that even after World War 2, a party which are [[ANaziByAnyOtherName Nazis in all but name and symbolism]] rose to power in a country that ''"stopped the Nazis"''.
10	* The single line of "Africa's not there anymore!" after a nuclear war. Africa is the second-most populated continent on Earth, so even the deaths of most of the people of Africa alone would mean a death toll exceeding that of both World Wars put together.
11	** This also raises the question of "why did they nuke Africa?"
12	* The "[[MadDoctor experiments]]" Dr Surridge performs on the prisoners involves injecting them with mutagenic chemicals, causing them to either [[BodyHorror sprout extra appendages]] or go irrecoverably insane. Like V.
13	* Everyone knows that when the government takes away the elderly to live in nice retirement homes, it's a DeadlyEuphemism for gas chambers. Except it's not even that: just some thugs with lead pipes.
14	* Hell, [[HellholePrison Larkhill detention centre]] in general. An [[WardensAreEvil abusive commander]] beating prisoners just for the hell of it, a [[SinisterMinister depraved priest]] (ironically, who should be caring about human rights in the centre), and [[MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate a "medical" doctor]] experimenting with bio-weapon on her "patients" to boot.
15	* The fact that V and Evey only really achieve the collapse of the government. The final pages show uncontrolled riots, looting and degradation. At very least Norsefire kept order after the war, now Britain shall not even have that.
16	** Perhaps the scarier part is ''that's what V wanted all along''; his talk of a 'Land Of Do As You Please' is simply opening up the country to ''free choice'' in the form of anarchy. But V seems to have done so knowing that [[HopeSpot Evey will be there for whatever comes next]].

20	* '''[[TheVirus That virus]].''' It's been called the most terrible biological attack in history, causing approx. 100,000 (one hundred thousand) deaths ''in the UK alone''. As it's most likely the infection got into the other countries with infected people, one is left to wonder how many lives were claimed by it abroad.
21	** Increasingly so on revealing that it was the government who created and spread that infection and used it against their own people. Damn, [[PlayingWithSyringes even the way]] [[TestedOnHumans they tested it]] [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything is downright disgusting]]. Especially on learning that their vicious experiments aren't [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unit_731 (at least weren't)]] [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josef_Mengele that far]] from TruthInTelevision. [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porton_Down And Britain has precedents]].
22	* The ending sequence, with the army charging at the protestors marching up towards them. Luckily [[OptOut the massacre was averted]] [[ReasonableAuthorityFigure at the last moment]], but still this minute was quite intense.
23	* The police listening in right before V kills the bishop know that he's a child molester. Not only do they not do anything about it, they actually laugh.
24	* Britain under Norsefire isn't shown so much as of a [[CrapsackWorld post-nuclear hellhole]] ruled by a WellIntentionedExtremist (as in the graphic novel), but rather a [[CrapsaccharineWorld seemingly prosperous and vibrant place]] with really nasty things [[SecretPolice swept under the rug]] which for some is even more frightening, as it's '''closer to reality'''.

26	* Then comes the scene where Gordon is taken away but not before being brutally beaten. With the last part aside, it darkly mirrors Evey's flashback of her parents being taken.
