----
* Roxanne's DiagonalCut in Volume 4 is very offsetting to look at.
* Early into Volume 6, Scott was having another one of his bizarre dreams; this time he's all alone in the desert. He looks looks up to the sky to see an [[LightIsNotGood angelic]] Ramona Flowers, who swoops down and impales Scott with The Power of Love sword, pinning him to the ground. She flies away. Then the sky suddenly becomes dark and three monstrous figures appear out of nowhere and proceed to eat his limbs, with Scott [[ThisIsGonnaSuck being completely helpless]] to watch in horror as he suffers being eaten alive. After the monsters ate his arms and legs, he got a good glimpse of the monsters: it turns out the monsters were Envy, Knives, and Kim, each with razor-sharp teeth and a [[SlasherSmile psychotic]] [[CheshireCatGrin grin]] (Knives might stick out to some with her smile.exe-esque grin).
* Scott's death in Volume 6 - suddenly stabbed by Gideon in the Chaos Theatre after refusing to join the League. It would've been GameOver had he not picked up that extra life in Volume 3. It even averts the up until now BloodlessCarnage, with blood spraying out of Scott's gut before trickling to a crawl as he falls over dead.
** Gideon also impaling Ramona from behind when she tries to escape the Glow via Subspace, for that matter. The subtitles declare him to be a dick for doing so while Gideon a flashes a sadistic smile.
* The shout out to Film/EvilDead2 in Volume 3. Scott ends up blinded by bright lights inside [[EldritchLocation Honest Ed's]] and tumbles down a staircase, looking up at a cuckoo-clock with a stag head on top. Then the head comes to life and menacingly scalls his name, while Scott lets out a BigNo in horror.
* Almost everything about Gideon. In addition to his paranoia-inducing use of Subspace to spy on people and control their emotions, the guy froze and collected his ex-girlfriends, and was planning to do the same thing with Ramona. He is the only character that successfully ''killed'' Scott (even if he comes back to life using the 1-Up he got from beating Todd) and his sword fight is easily [[BloodierAndGorier the most violent part of the entire comic series.]] It's rather unsettling to see each of his slashes draw a huge amount of blood from Scott when every single other prior battle, including [[HalftheManHeUsedToBe what happened to Roxie,]] was bloodless.
* Subspace. People can get in your head and see your dreams. That's enough of a privacy nightmare when your girlfriend is doing it, and worse still your nemesis can spy on you and mess with your memories. Or, from Ramona's perspective (which is never really explicitly addressed), a LivingDollCollector ex who is stalking and trying to kill your boyfriend so he can have you all to himself. And is implied to have done the ''exact same thing'' to others. ''Creepy''.
* Nega Scott. Imagine a dark doppelgänger of yourself suddenly appearing and only you can see it. [[TheQuietOne He follows Scott around without saying a single word,]] often scaring Scott in the most awkward situations, whenever he is scared, hurt, frightened, lonely, or in the worst case, ''emotionally vulnerable''. He is an embodiment of the negative aspects Scott has repressed of himself, everything that Scott is afraid of regarding himself, and a literal example of not being able to escape what haunts you.
* Hell, ''The Glow itself'' is made of this. A psychic phenomena that is infectious, it can get you when you least expect it. You end up trapped inside your own head, slowly losing your connections to the outside world as all of your vices are amplified. [[BlackBugRoom This nightmare transforms your mental landscape into a dangerous place as you become a worse person by the day.]] Hell, it's implied that ''this is where the Nega-Scott '''came from.''''' He only appeared when Scott got the Glow. However, Kim recognized Nega-Scott in his last appearance which implies that he has appeared ''before'' the glow... This doesn't make it any better, though.
* The League of Evil Exes. Imagine you, for various reasons, have a number of exes... And suddenly, years after the last time you met most of them, [[PsychoExGirlfriend they all band together to keep you from ever having a relationship by beating up or even killing any future romantic partner]], and even ''tell you about it'' (Ramona knew of them, though she hadn't apparently taken them seriously until Patel showed up). In order of appearance, they are:
** Matthew Patel. He's easily the most pathetic of the group... But [[EvilSorcerer can fly, shoot fireballs]], and [[SummonMagic summon]] [[FlunkyBoss demon hipster chicks]] to help him in battle.
** Lucas Lee. A famous actor, and capable of beating the crap out of Scott. Thankfully, [[PunchClockVillain he's only in the League because he's an obligatory member after being dumped by Ramona]] and [[{{Jobber}} offers to throw the fight for Scott's pocket change]]... And then Scott [[BerserkButton points out he's a sellout]], and he decides to outright ''kill Scott''.
** Todd Ingram. As the one who actually had a mutual break-up with Ramona, you'd expect to be the nicest... Except he competes with ''Gideon'' as the largest jerk of the series, and [[TheJuggernaut his Vegan Powers make him unstoppable]]. Thankfully he's an idiot... So Envy does the actual thinking for him.
** Roxie Richter. [[AmicableExes She's the only one of the exes to still get along with Ramona]], so she sours her relationship with Scott (she actually thought Scott was cheating on Ramona)... And she's a [[McNinja half-ninja]], armed with a sword.
** The Katayanagi Twins. Wealthy and [[GadgeteerGenius capable of building combat robots]]. It's only after defeating the robots that Scott finally fights them... And discovers they're ''stronger than their robots.
** And finally we have the leader... Gideon. See above for how bad he is.
** At the end of volume 5, Scott is dumped by Ramona. And upon finding out, [[WeCanRuleTogether Gideon offers him to join the League]]. Considering Scott is the best fighter of the province at the start of the series and became much stronger while fighting the Exes, any future romantic partner for Ramona would have been screwed had he accepted.
** And to make everything worse, it's hinted that, aside for Gideon, ''they weren't evil to start with'' (though Todd was still a major jerkass): after Ramona caught on him being a psycho and ran, Gideon went and launched a drunken rant on Reddit, thus finding out of the others when they tried to ''help him get over Ramona''. And Gideon very likely [[TheCorrupter used the Glow to make them evil]]. He certainly tried just that with Scott...
* Scott's own girlfriends aren't exactly harmless either. Aside from Kim, we have:
** Knives Chau. At first we only see her nice parts... Then, after Scott breaks up with her, [[StalkerWithACrush she becomes a "Scottaholic"]], she's a legitimate ninja with legitimate skills with her knives, and [[MurderTheHypotenuse she tries to kill Ramona]].
** Ramona is much stabler than Knives but [[McNinja also has ninja training]] and [[BagOfHolding a bag containing all kind of objects including weapons]], needs pills for some kind of mental disorder, and was infected with the Glow. Though at least she found a way to use it to teleport... [[ParanoiaFuel Oh, wait]].
** And finally, the scariest of all through sheer viciousness: Envy. Before [[BreakTheHaughty finding out Todd was cheating on her]], she showed herself astute, cruel, and manipulative, directing Todd after Scott and keeping the latter from fighting back effectively just through the anguish her mere presence caused him. Eventually Ramona gets fed up with her antics and tries to squash her with a giant hammer... And [[NotSoHarmlessVillain Envy blocks that with a kick]] and proceeds to [[CurbStompBattle kick her ass]] so thoroughly Ramona needed two different outside interventions to not get squashed with her own hammer. Thankfully, after the second Ramona reveals what Todd was up to and that at least turns her anger toward him... And she proceeds to [[GroinAttack make him a fellow girl]].
