3	* Just about everything that surrounds Jin-E. The man has his KnightOfCerebus title ''very'' well deserved, considering what he did to Kaoru and how he managed to bring out [[SuperpoweredEvilSide Kenshin's darkest side]] afloat. Aside from a BloodKnight, he is also a hypnotist. He subjected Kaoru to a ''nasty'' hypnotic trick which put her in [[AndIMustScream a trance that forced her whole body into muscular paralysis]]. This also includes the muscles that ''allow her to breathe''. No wonder Kenshin '''totally''' cracked and went [[EnemyWithin Battousai]]. The girl who was under his protection ''and'' he was starting to fall in love with would die in a truly horrible and undeserved manner unless he murdered Jin-E. Kaoru ''did'' break the trance in the very last moment, but it took her [[PluckyGirl LOTS of effort]]. And then Jin-E killed himself.
4	** And if you think he hasn't done worse, [[Film/RurouniKenshin the live-action film incarnation]] brought to life by Koji Kikkawa managed to be '''[[BloodKnight even creepier]]''': what with his [[{{Gorn}} murder and assassination scenes]] in full [[LickingTheBlade glorious gory]] detail not out of place in a Creator/TakashiMiike film.
5	** The ''Restoration'' manga version of Jin-E gives him some BodyHorror to go with his already creepy appearance. Back when he was still part of the Shinsengumi, he ended up getting stabbed through both hands by Kenshin, leaving two gaping wounds that had never closed. He now uses those wounds to hold his blades. Oh, and his Shin no Ippo? This time, it Jin-E's face [[NightmareFace as a creepy demonic skull]] when he execute the technique.
6	** As if Jin-E couldn't be any scarier, the 2023 anime staff decided to turn his abduction of Kaoru into a JumpScare. Whereas the 1996 anime gives viewers just enough time to perceive him as he grabs Kaoru, the 2023 anime has Jin-E's face suddenly appears right next to Kaoru [[HopeSpot just as she agrees to return to the dojo.]] Even long time fans who already knew what was going to happen were completely caught off guard.
7	* The PsychologicalHorror implications of Saitou going to the Kamiya dojo behind Kenshin's back. [[ParanoiaFuel Think about it:]] he could've killed ''everyone'' there easily if he wanted to, and Kenshin wouldn't have been able to do anything.
8	* Shishio shows he's one step to being a [[IAmAHumanitarian Cannibal]] after taking a single bite out of Kenshin's shoulder and spitting out the meat after savoring the blood.
9	** Everything about Shishio is creepy. He survived second degree burns all over his entire body, destroying his sweat glands. The reason why he's covered in all those bandages is since he's a walking BodyHorror. Oh, know how his sword ignites? Its due to ''all the people he's killed''. That means, all their flammable body fat has been absorbed by the blade, and only a single spark is needed to ignite said fat. Oh...since he can use it continuously...the body count should be in the ''thousands'' if not more.
10	** Shishio's final meltdown. Both literally and figurately. The way he was screaming and clawing at his chest... ugh. And then he [[ManOnFire dies via burning alive.]] His body [[VillainousRROD cannot take all the physical pressure of fighting Kenshin]] and he simply [[SpontaneousHumanCombustion combusts]]. While he's bitterly laughing about his KarmicDeath, and as Yumi's lifeless body burns as well.
11	** Shishio's fate in ''Shin Kyoto'' OVA is even worse. As he fights Kenshin in the ship's bowels, it starts releasing steam from damage, which cause him to start losing control of his temperature, which in turn ''[[HighPressureBlood causes his head to spew blood]]''. Oh, but ''[[NoOneShouldSurviveThat this]]'' isn't what kills him. After he impales Kenshin through the shoulder, Kenshin counters by [[CherryTapping striking his forehead with the pommel of his sword]], which ''[[YourHeadASplode causes his head to split in half!]]''
12	* From the anime only, but still [[BreakTheCutie both]] [[TearJerker heartbreaking]] and horrifying: Sayo and Shougo's common backstory. Specially three scenes: their father being ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice [[HarmfulToMinors in front of them]], their DelicateAndSickly mother being gunned down as the kids and their uncle Hyougo have to leave without her, and then the view of ''everyone'' in their UsefulNotes/JapaneseChristian village being crucified.
13	* Soujiro's past. It was already bad enough that his stepsiblings abused the crap outta him for being an illegitimate child, but the scene in which he snaps and kills them all after they try to murder him and pin the blame on Shishio is genuinely terrifying, and ''especially'' in the anime due to the '''very''' effective animation and pacing.
14	* The fake corpse of [[http://media.photobucket.com/image/recent/Bluesnow222/kenshin-v24-c207-022-023-1.jpg Kaoru.]]
15	** It Got Worse: you get to meet [[MadArtist Gein, the guy who made that doll]], [[NauseaFuel and the details in regards to HOW he built it]]. To put a long story short: yes, the doll IS made of flesh coming from corpses.
16	* Kenshin himself to an extent considering he has [[SuperpoweredEvilSide split personality issues]].
17	** And also when he snaps, to a lower extent. GoodIsNotSoft indeed.

19	* Hannya's mask falls off after the fight with Kenshin, and it shows just what sort of lengths a normal human being has to go in order to pull off LatexPerfection--he broke his own nose and jaw and sliced off his lips and ears so that he could reconstruct them as he wished for his disguises.
