Listen to these songs and try not to wonder if the legends surrounding this man had any truth to them.
--------------------
* Let's address the elephant in the room, shall we? What makes Robert Johnson truly infamous is the very persistent urban legend that his groundbreaking talents arose from a DealWithTheDevil he made at a crossroad in Mississippi. There are so many rumors and so little facts about the man's life that it almost makes ''Johnson himself'' a legendary figure. The tinny plucking of his guitar and the thin waver in his voice gives his music a ghostly sound that only adds to the myths surrounding him.
* "Me And The Devil": Johnson sings how {{Satan}} knocked on his door and they went for a walk together. It's a chilling piece, especially when Johnson describes him and the devil "walking side by side".
--> ''It must've been that evil spirit... so deep down in the ground''
* "Malted Milk"
--> ''My doorknob keeps on turnin' must be spooks around my bed''
* There are quite some songs in his small repertoire that allude to death, which is made more eerie by the fact that he died at the age of 27 not long after these singles were recorded. Making him the first victim of the infamous "27 Curse" in music, which includes the likes of Music/JimiHendrix, [[Music/{{Nirvana}} Kurt Cobain]] and Music/AmyWinehouse.
** "Walkin' Blues"
---> ''I feel mistreated, baby, and I don't mind dying''
** "Last Fair Deal Gone Down"
---> ''If you cry about a nickel, you'll die for a dime''
* "Hellhound On My Trail" is about exactly what the title suggests.
