Tripod are an Australian musical comedy trio founded by Scod (Scott Edgar), Yon (Simon Hall) and Gatesy (Steven Gates) in 1997. They provide original songs and harmonies, strung together by comic banter.

!!Tropes found in Tripod's works:
* AirGuitar: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1n5H1ITqQ8 "Air Guitar"]] by Tripod and Creator/TheUmbilicalBrothers, a miming comedy duo, is all about how ridiculous it is for somebody to win an award for air guitar.
--> "They're just jumping around in tight pants.
--> "There's already a job where you do that.
--> [[SelfDeprecation "It's called a lead singer."]]
* AntiChristmasSong: Most of the songs on ''For The Love Of God!''
* AntiquatedLinguistics: The sleeve notes for "Songs from Self Saucing'' are written in this style.
* AutoErotica: "Sex in a Tesla" is about Yon's obsessive fantasy of having sex in an electric car, and the possible drawbacks.
* BadCopIncompetentCop: "Suicide Bomber":
-->They said
-->"Aren't you the suicide bomber
-->Who blew up the bus, last year?"
-->I said "no," they punched me
-->I said "Think logically"
-->And they said "You think logically!"
-->And I said
-->"What?"
* DaysOfTheWeekSong: Most likely a parody of Craig David's "7 Days" -- it got cut off pretty quickly though:
-->Met my baby on a Monday\
[[BreadEggsMilkSquick Dumped the body]] on a Tuesday\
[[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking Went to the movies]] on a Wednesday\
[[DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment Went to the movies]] on a Thursday\
[[RuleOfThree Went to the movies]] on a Friday--
* EmbarrassingTattoo: "If I Had A Tattoo" parodies this:
-->''If I had a tattoo\
I would get one of you\
Or at least of a generic woman's body\
Draw your head on with a texta''
* EverythingSoundsSexierInFrench: Spoofed in "That French Song". The song sounds romantic to the girl listening to it, but the subtitles reveal that the song is really the most unromantic things you could think of, such as "I have a cluster of pimples on my back shaped like the Man on the Moon".
* GenreShift: Of sorts. The song "Underground" from Assassin's Creed: Syndicate is a very haunting ballad and sounds *nothing* like Tripod's usual lighthearted style.
* HypotheticalFightDebate: "Hot Girl in the Comic Shop" devolves into an debate about who would win a fight between Spider-Man and the Hulk.
* LyricalDissonance:
** "The Hot Dog Man is packing up..." Lampshaded in that as Tripod sing the song, in-character Gatesy is as unaware of the upcoming lyrical dissonance as the rest of us are, and reacts with increasing horror as the song turns sinister. And ''boy'', does it turn sinister.
** Also occurred in the song "Congo", which starts off as a serious song about the pointlessness of war, and while the lyrics stay depressing, Gatesy and Yon eventually turn it into an upbeat cheerful song, complete with cheerful dancing.
* MealTicket: The girlfriend in "Old Money".
* NoodleImplements: Tripod have a song explaining what happens when Mummy and Daddy love each other very much... basically Daddy installs a special sling from the ceiling, Mummy wears a pig mask and Daddy wears scuba gear, then they put on their favourite ''Series/HRPufnstuf'' video and it's apparently on for young and old. Who knew?
* NoseTapping: During the song "Justin", when they're trying to sing about Jesus without using either the name Jesus or any other word that could be connected to Christianity. Everytime they try to cover up something, Gatesy does this. Subverted when, near the end of the song, Scod complains that Gatesy is making fun of his huge nose, which Gatesy admits to.
* PokingDeadThingsWithAStick: Their song "The Day When We Found That Body" is about a romantic date ruined by the discovery of a dead body that gets poked with a stick:
-->Our love is so much better than that dead body.\
I hate to think our relationship hung by a thread of whether we saw a body or not.\
Hey, look, I kept a memento,\
It's the stick we poked it with.
* RockersSmashGuitars: Mocked by Tripod in one of their songs where they retell their big rock moment and ruin the effect by mentioning how they had it insured and told the audience to stand back.
* TalentShow: How they got their start, kinda. They appeared on "Red Faces" (the "talent show" portion of variety show Hey Hey It's Saturday) and performed a piece consisting of three Oasis songs laid on top of each other. The effect was *glorious*.
* ThenLetMeBeEvil: This is the ending "Suicide Bomber"—the falsely accused bomber is awaiting release after [[BeingTorturedMakesYouEvil repeated torture]], and is already planning to blow up a bus.
