Singer, dancer, actress, and model.

Born June 1, 1988 in Wakayama-ken, Japan, Nami Tamaki had always dreamed of becoming a singer from a young age. She is known for her radiating positive attitude and smile. In her mid-teens, she moved to Tokyo and attended many dance schools and auditions. In a Sony Music Audition, she performed ''Survivor'' by Destiny's Child and was selected out of 1000 contestants.

After the anime ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEED'' came out around 2002, Nami Tamaki's 2003 debut single's ''Believe'' was chosen to be the third opening theme, seen [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fclh4p-kvWk here]]. In 2004, she released her first album, titled ''Greeting'', under the record labels [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Music_Entertainment_Japan Sony]] and [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tofu_Records Tofu Records]].
She has had a few other anime and game industry tie-ins, as well as a few roles in stage plays, most notably the Japanese version of ''Film/HighSchoolMusical'', and films, such as the [[http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=7469 live-action movie version]] of the anime ''Manga/LovelyComplex''. Since 2009, she has released music under the record label [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Music_Group Universal-J]] simply under the name Nami.

In her earlier years, she was popularly known as the [[GratuitousPrincess Princess of JPop]]. Her music style shifts along the genres of {{JPop}}, dance-pop, pop-rock, R&B, and {{Disco}}. (That's right. You heard me. [[GratuitousDiscoSequence DISCO]].) She currently has released five albums, 19 singles, and has compiled a few covers of other various songs from other artists. For more on her, check out the other wiki [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nami_Tamaki here]].

In 2014 she started having trouble singing and sought treatment. She was diagnosed with a chronic condition of [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocal_fold_nodule vocal nodules]]. This unfortunately greatly impacted her musical output, and from 2015 through 2022 she only released three singles[[note]]"Everlasting Love" in 2015, "All-Ways" in 2016 for the ending themes of ''Manga/ConcreteRevolutio'', and "Break the Chain" in 2020, the opening theme of ''TabletopGame/BattleSpirits: Kakumei no Garrett''[[/note]].

In 2023, she started to become more active on social media for the 20th anniversary of her professional debut, opening up [[https://www.youtube.com/@NamiTamaki_official/ a Youtube channel]] on April 20, 2023 and uploading many of her old music videos from the 2000s. Rumors also began swirling that she may be involved with the ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDFreedom'' film project, especially after she appeared at both the “P Fever Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Presentation” in May and then performing at “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FESTIVAL ~CONNECT Beyond That Era~” in November.

On December 10, 2023, [[https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2023-12-20/gundam-seed-freedom-film-lyric-video-features-nami-tamaki-support-song/.205750 the rumors were confirmed]] when it was officially revealed that she had been tapped to sing once more for the franchise for ''SEED Freedom'' with said single [[MeaningfulName "Reborn"]] to release on January 24, 2024, two days before the movie comes out.

On Christmas Day 2023, it was announced that she ahd returned to Sony Music's label and that she would release a new album in March 2024. This will be her first original album in 13 years since the 2011 release of ''Ready!'' (the previous 2014 release was a cover album, ''NT Gundam Cover''). On March 13, 2024, "Singularity" was released.

!! Things relating to Nami Tamaki:

* TheCameo: Nami acts out the role of herself in ''VideoGame/RadiataStories''.
** It's HER song ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYEUS4xxXvs&feature=related Fortune]]'' featured as the theme song, so why not?
*** She even [[{{Cosplay}} dresses]] as her ''VideoGame/RadiataStories'' character in her music video.
* CoverVersion: She covered quite a bit, from ''Tonari no Totoro'' to ''Gokigendaze~''
* DarkerAndEdgier: ''LADY MIND'' and to a lesser extent, ''Missing you... ~time to love~'' have an edgier sound/feel to them than her earlier works. To compare the music videos for Believe/Heroine and LADY MIND is almost mind blowing.
* DeadStarWalking: Subverted - Nami was offered a voice role in ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEED'', but turned it down.
** Not that Nami never voice-acted before - she played a small voice role in two episodes of the anime ''[[http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=4119 Agatha Christie no Meitantei Poirot to Marple]]'' around 2004-2005.
* GirlishPigtails: In her music video [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgz_5OJmqUo&feature=related MY WAY]].
* GratuitousPrincess: She's been called the ''Princess of [=JPop=]'' for quite a while (by both America ''and'' Japan).
* HotterAndSexier: ''LADY MIND''
* IdolSinger: She started out pretty young as a TeenIdol.
* NewSoundAlbum: Ever since she shifted farther from the dance-pop and more into R&B and bubbly disco, fans have been a bit worried...
** LADY MIND has shifted back into dance-pop, but with less techno and an almost ChipTune-ish sound.
* TheOner: ''LADY MIND (Dance Version)''
