[[caption-width-right:264:The logo of the group, because like [=AKB48=], getting a picture will be quite hard.]]
The second sister group of Music/AKB48, and like that group, it has more than 48 members currently split into 3 teams: N, M and BII, as well as a group of trainees.

The group currently performs in its theatre at the Yes-Namba Building in Namba in Osaka, Japan, with each team performing stages-set lists of songs. It is owned and operated by prominent entertainment conglomerate Yoshimoto Kogyo, through its Showtitle subsidiary.

!![=NMB48=] provides examples of the following tropes:

* ACappella: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0nylYWA_yc This version of "Zetsumetsu Kurokami Shoujo"]], performed at the 2012 Kouhaku.
* AutoTune: Mostly averted, but still featured in "Kamonegikkusu" and "Must be now".
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: Most of their songs revolve around sexyness and DoubleEntendre... except the very cutesy "Kitagawa Kenji".
* AsianSpeekeeEngrish: 7th generation youngest member Misaki Yoshino is fluent in English (she lived in the US). She has a routine with Miyu Wada, the oldest 7th gen, where she corrects the latter's {{Engrish}} in the middle of their duet.
* BeachEpisode: The [=PVs=] for "Nagiichi", "Bokura no Eureka", "Ibiza Girl" and "Dorian Shounen".
* TheCameo: The producer for ''Majisuka Gakuen 3'' and AKB's documentaries Kenji Kitagawa makes an appereance as the teacher in the song named after himself. Also, NMB theater's manager Takeshi Kaneko makes a cameo at the end of "Bokura no Eureka".
* CoverVersion: Teams M and BII perform existing AKB stages.
* CrossOver: Sayanee and Milky are common members of the senbatsu in AKB's singles, both holding concurrencies in AKB. Team M member Shiroma Miru holds a concurrency in AKB's Team A, too.
* CultureEqualsCostume: Their flag is a leopard print because it's the stereotypical pattern of choice for Osaka ladies.
* DesertedIsland: In "Bokura no Eureka" the girls arrive at one.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: [[http://stage48.net/wiki/images/e/e4/SekainoChuushinwaOsakayaN.jpg The cover of the second album]] shows the girls carrying bottles carrying some kind of liquid... which doesn't really look like champagne.
* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: It is based in Namba and has at least 40 members.
* FreakyFridayFlip: In an episode of "Geinin!! 2", Sayaka and Miyuki switched bodies after tripping and knocking over a magic daruma.
* FriendlyRivalry: With Music/SKE48.
* HotterAndSexier: Many of their songs fall under this, although they've tamed a bit since "Kitagawa Kenji".
* IdolSinger
* IntercourseWithYou: Averted in "Virginity" and "Junjou U-19". Probably played straight with "Bokura no Eureka".
* {{Joshikousei}}: The girls act as these in many of their [=PVs=] such as "Takane no Ringo" and their official TV series, "Geinin!"
* MsFanservice: They have the sexiest image among the 48 Groups and appear most often in various bikini and lingerie photoshoots. In particular, Sumire Yokono was called the 48 Groups' "best body".
** In their 10th anniversary concert, after Nagisa Shibuya gives a heartfelt speech thanking the audience for their continuing support, she "[[https://twitter.com/TeppenSubTeam/status/1458443453503655945 returns the favor]]" by calling the well-endowed members to stand at the front (and sending comparatively flat group captain Karin Kojima to the back) for their final bow.
* OfficiallyShortenedTitle: "Nagiichi" is short for "Nagisa de ichiban kawaii-ko" ("The cutest girl in the beach"). "Kamonegikkusu" is also a portmanteau for "the duck shoulders its onion", a Japanese saying.
* OneManSong: "Kitagawa Kenji" is titled after a producer working for Music/AKB48's management, who in 2020 became an executive for Music/SKE48's parent company.
* PovertyForComedy: Despite being a relatively well-known group under Japan's biggest comedy talent agency, some members struggle financially.
** In an ''Series/AKBingo'' episode, Ririka Sutou reveals that her salary cannot cover her monthly expenses and she subsists on very simple meals. To add insult to injury, host Muramoto points out that AKB member Yuria Kizaki once spent 5000 yen on a fancy breakfast.
** Akari Ishizuka once went on [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMO4NH8HAHQ a tearful rant]] on her Showroom live stream that she couldn't afford even small luxuries like going to Starbucks or buying matcha (green tea powder) cookies. Her fans responded by [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8WdhJ3cpI0 sending her boxes]] of matcha cookies. After she graduated from the group, she became a [[https://www.youtube.com/@akariishizuka YouTube game streamer]], and also produces the clothing brand Green Tea Cookie Fun Club.
* PunkRock: "Punkish". Enough said.
* RefugeInAudacity: In her acceptance speech in the 2017 elections, Ririka Sutou took the opportunity to ''announce her upcoming marriage'', breaking the so-called love ban in the most spectacular fashion. Even better, the management and Yasushi Akimoto, the AKB Group Producer himself, ''actually offered her to stay in the group'' as a married woman, but she declined.
* SailorFuku: Worn by the girls in "Oh My God!".
* SpaceClothes: In "Kamonegikkusu".
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: WordOfGod hasn't confirmed how カモネギックス is spelled: most common spellings are Kamonegics, Kamonegikkusu and Kamonegiks.
** Another very common spelling, and the most likely spelling of the title, is "Kamonegix"
* SugarBowl: The PV for "Kitagawa Kenji".
* TeasingFromBehindTheLanguageBarrier: When Misaki Yoshino portrayed a yankee character in 2021, she makes fun of her seniors' lack of English proficiency... in English.
--> Misaki: [English] Most people in the ''other'' generations are not very smart, so nobody can speak English, so I'm gonna speak up. The future of NMB will be carried by ''us'', the 7th generation, so people who are not very smart, please get out of here!\
Karin Kojima: No! No! [Japanese] Misaki-chan, you shouldn't say such things!\
Another member: Hang on! Kojima, you understood what she said?\
Karin: Not one word.
* YamatoNadeshiko: "Zetsumetsu Kurokami Shoujo" basically revolves around this trope, reivindicating the image of a pure black-haired girl (that's why most of the members of NMB have dyed hair).
