After the first breakup of Music/TheMisfits in 1983, Glenn Danzig continued making music in the proto-horrorpunk vein with the band Samhain, which in turn evolved into the band Danzig by 1987. Initially playing blues-based metal, Danzig has gone from doom metal (How the Gods Kill) to industrial (Blackacidevil) and back again (I Luciferi onward), all the while keeping Glenn's phlegmatic howl and lyrical obsession with the occult at the forefront.

----
!!"Mother, Tell Your Children Not To Trope My Way:"
* BadassBoast: "And Death should know me, my hands are dirty with his blood."
* TheBigGuy: Danzig pulls this off, despite being absolutely tiny in stature (5'3). The man likes to work out, and basically looks like a cube of muscle these days.
* BerserkButton: He pressed that of a NorthSideKings member and got kayo'd for the effort.
** Also, yelling while carrying a hot bowl of soup backstage on a festival led to someone from Music/DefLeppard sneaking behind him and kicking his ass.
* CoverAlbum: Skeletons.
* EpicRocking: "Godless" clocks in at 6:51.
* Jerkass: Glen Danzig is notorious for being one of these.
** When he was set to headline the opening night of Fun Fun Fun Fest 2011, he refused to perform unless he had, among other things, French Onion soup ready for him and windscreens on the side of the stage, so he won't freeze in the 57 degree weather. Even when the festival complied, Danzig still didn't go on stage until an hour after they were expected, resulting in their set getting cut short by the mandatory outdoor curfew at 10 PM, which Glen blamed on the festival planners.
** When asked if he ever wanted to get married, he replied: "No, I'm not stupid!"
* MetalScream: Among other songs: "Not of This World," "Long Way Back from Hell," "Godless," and "Brand New God."
* MoralGuardians: "Mother" was inspired by Tipper Gore, her introduction of the Parental Advisory on music albums -- including Danzig, which aside from the words "whore" and "hell," was relatively free of profanity.
* NumberedSequels: As seen above, several of their albums are titled this way. In fact even when it isn't officially part of the title, the albums are usually numbered somewhere in the cover art.
** The first seven full lengths can be referred to as Danzig X (ex. Blackacidevil is Danzig 5). Starting with Circle of Snakes, this practice is dropped (Circle of Snakes is not Danzig 8).
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Danzig himself is only 5'4, but makes up for his short stature by being built like a tank.
* RockMeAsmodeus: The music may evoke this feel, but Glenn Danzig himself is a spiritual atheist.
* ShirtlessScene: Glenn Danzig in a lot of their music videos. Even when he's got a shirt on, it tends to be usually mesh, or something similar.
* StoppedNumberingSequels: Circle of Snakes was where the band stopped numbering their albums.
* ThreeChordsAndTheTruth: As hinted in their first album..., or recycled from Glenn's previous band.
* VocalDecay: Age hasn't been kind to Glenn Danzig. Whereas Danzig's self-titled debut is considered a masterpiece which showcases then 33-year-old Glenn's distinct baritone vocals, not unlike those heard on his songs with the Misfits, 2017's Black Laden Crown has a raspy 61-year-old Glen struggling to project (so much so that his vocals need to be mixed louder than the instruments).
