Describe Crowbar here.

Crowbar is fat music for fat people.

What, you want more? Fine. Crowbar is an American metal band from New Orleans, Louisiana, one of the key bands of the SludgeMetal subgenre. Formed in 1988 as the punk band Shell Shock, the band changed its name several times, to Aftershock, WREQUIEM, The Slugs and eventually Crowbar, along the way developing their signature style that fused HardcorePunk and DoomMetal.

Their songs are extremely slow, low-keyed, heavy and brooding, though they also contain fast hardcore-esque passages.

!!Tropes displayed by Crowbar:

* TheAntiNihilist: Their lyrics are dark, brooding and contemplative, but usually depict a clear desire to push forward, particularly on their later albums.
* DeepSouth: The band is from UsefulNotes/NewOrleans, and has a heavy SouthernRock influence in its sound.
* GriefSong: Frequently, with songs like "Time Heals Nothing" and "Repulsive in its Splendid Beauty" dealing with bitter loss and the self-loathing that inevitably comes with it.
* HarshVocals: Kirk Windstein has an incredibly harsh yet melodic voice.
* IronicNickname: Todd "Sexy T" Strange. He is by far the heaviest looking member of the band and is anything but sexy.
* Mangst: The band; almost all of their songs deal with the narrator having to soldier stoically onward through life despite being subjected to all sorts of tragedies and misfortunes, with "Planets Collide" from Odd Fellows Rest being a standout example lyrically.
* MetalScream: Type 1, though technically speaking, it's more shouting than it is screaming.
%%* RatedMForManly
* SelfTitledAlbum: Their second album.
* SlidingScaleOfIdealismVsCynicism: Their early albums were far on the cynical side, but their later material is surprisingly in the middle, leaning slightly towards idealistic.
%%* SludgeMetal
* TitleOnlyChorus: "All I Had (I Gave)".
* TropeCodifier: They were the pioneers of sludge metal, alongside Music/AcidBath, Eyehategod and Buzzov*en.
