Given their personalities and social media presence, is not surprising that BTS are a FountainOfMemes.

'''NOTE''': Some of these memes are already {{Discredited|Meme}} (and indicated as such in their explanations). This list is in a roughly chronological order to facilitate this distinction.

* [[https://twitter.com/spidermins/status/1003855201789403136 Here's a list of notable moments in ARMY Twitter (most of them memes)]], starting from the beginning of 2018.

!!Songs and music videos
* V! NUGA NAREUL MAGADO NAUI GAL GIREUL GANDAGO[[labelnote:Explanation]]A line from the ''Skool Luv Affair'' song "Jump", which the members love to sing whenever V (who sings that line in the song) does something mundane like enter a room.[[/labelnote]]
* CAUGHT IN A LIEEEE~ [[labelnote:Explanation]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjhfpGPOAss Whenever]] any of the band members say or imply anything that gets discredited later on, ARMY are quick to belt out the opening lines to the chorus of Jimin's song Lie. [[/labelnote]]
** "Where's the lie, though?" "In the Music/{{Wings|BTSAlbum}} album", is a very common retaliation amongst [=ARMYs=].
* "Spring Day" never fails to reappear and climb up the Korean charts whenever there's a new BTS album, getting to the point of actually interrupting all-kills. It's therefore become a common joke that "Spring Day" is always waiting behind a corner for a new release in order to steal the spotlight, with some fans exasperatedly yelling at it to go away.
* [verb] Yourself [[labelnote:Explanation]]The title of the album series ''LOVE YOURSELF'' (plus the Japanese album ''FACE YOURSELF'') has been a source of jokes replacing "love" with another verb ("drag yourself", etc.), sometimes adding variations like with "Her", "Tear", and "Answer" (such as "DRINK YOURSELF: Tea").[[/labelnote]]
* "'''[[SuddenlyShouting WHY YOU SAD?!]]'''" "I don't know, nan molla" [[labelnote:Explanation]]Namjoon's second verse in "Fake Love" starts like this, with RM [[https://youtu.be/nQySbNGu4g0?t=2m4s dramatically pointing at the viewer]] (and pointing again even ''more'' dramatically about 10 seconds later), with "nan molla" also meaning "I don't know" in Korean. Fans have started to adopt it as a call-response thing ("WHY YOU SAD??" "I don't know, nan molla"), often accompanying the phrase with an image of RM or someone else pointing at something and/or following it up with the rest of the verse (the latter being used most often as a response to antis).[[/labelnote]]
** "SO SHOW ME" "I'LL SHOW YOU" [[labelnote:Explanation]]An actual call-and-response verse from "Magic Shop", a song from the same album.[[/labelnote]]
* The #BASELINECHALLENGE [[labelnote:Explanation]]A dance challenge started on Twitter inspired by Drake's "In My Feelings" challenge). Started by a fan using J-Hope's "Baseline" with an original choreography, and acknowledged by one of the members (likely j-hope).[[/labelnote]]
** The #IDOLCHALLENGE. [[labelnote:Explanation]]Another challenge using "IDOL" and its choreography, started a month later by [=ARMYs=] from South Africa, then acknowledged by j-hope [[AscendedMeme and included in the version of the "IDOL" music video featuring Nicki Minaj]].[[/labelnote]]
* ''Alright, she dropped the cheesecake...''[[labelnote:Explanation]]A common mishearing from the chorus in "Seesaw".[[/labelnote]]
* "I'm so fine you're so fine [[SomethingSomethingLeonardBernstein askjdnakfajnfkajfakfaksjbksbakbfkfabkn]]" [[labelnote:Explanation]]Suga's MotorMouth verse in "I'm Fine".[[/labelnote]]
* (whispers) [-suga-] [[labelnote:Explanation]]Starting with ''LOVE YOURSELF: Her'', Suga introduces every verse of his and every song produced by him by whispering "Suga".[[/labelnote]]
* '''[[NoIndoorVoice CRAZY FOR MYSELF]]''' [[labelnote:Explanation]]Tae's first line in "HOME", which in August 19th, 2019 suddenly spawned a bunch of edits of the line [[SuddenlyShouting suddenly irrupting]] [[https://twitter.com/needyshobi/status/1163485113327476736?s=21 into random]] [[https://twitter.com/saraddaeng/status/1163547230307069952?s=21 situations]], with the phrase [[https://www.teenvogue.com/story/bts-army-crazy-for-myself-meme-keeping-fans-busy-through-bts-vacation exploding to the point of]] managing to trend on Twitter in the US.[[/labelnote]]
* 7 [[labelnote:Explanation]]After ''Music/MapOfTheSoul7'' was announced (with the number both being a MilestoneCelebration of 7 years as a group, referencing their being a 7-member group, and invoking LuckySeven), and several allusions to the number were found in both the album and as lucky (like BTS' first top 10 album, ''LOVE YOURSELF: Her'', charting at #7) and not-so-lucky (the reveal of ''MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA'' charting only at #7 in the year-end IFPI global chart, after ''LOVE YOURSELF: Tear'' and ''LOVE YOURSELF: Answer'' charting at #3 and #2) coincidences both before and after ''7'''s release, it quickly became a RunningGag for fans to find the number in everything BTS-related in a similar manner to ''Film/TheNumber23'', sometimes doing it seriously - because both BTS and [=BigHit=] love RuleOfSymbolism, and because some coincidences are ''eerie'' -, and sometimes intentionally or accidentally finding it in the most ridiculous places possible.[[/labelnote]]
* Comparing the last scene of the cinematic version of the "ON" music video to ''WesternAnimation/TheLionKing1994'', and the shell Jungkook uses to the [[WesternAnimation/SpongebobSquarepants Magic Conch]].
** Jungkook Jesus [[labelnote:Explanation]]Among the already abundant religious imagery in the music video, Jungkook appears running away with a bracelet of thorns binding his wrists and has a scene akin to Jesus' baptism in the river. This, plus his apparent role as the protagonist and the implication in j-hope's scene (where what appears to be his corpse is lying in the background) that he might have died and revived, has led to many jokes of Jungkook being Jesus.[[/labelnote]]
** "I can't understand what people are saying" [[labelnote:Explanation]]The opening line of the song sung by Jimin. Fans have started using this, particularly in response to hate or doubt directed towards BTS. [[/labelnote]]
** ''Michael told me in the closet/I got some chicken I'm so sad'' [[labelnote:Explanation]] A fan-favorite mishearing for Jungkook's bridge. [[/labelnote]]
* "shining through the city with a little funk and soul" [[labelnote:Explanation]]a line from the "Dynamite" chorus.[[/labelnote]]
** editing, making wild excuses for, or [[ImplausibleDeniability outright denying]] Yoongi's failure to get the ball through the hoop in the "Dynamite" B-side video.
** "Shining through the city with a little f*cking soul" [[labelnote:Explaination]]A common misheard lyrics in the same song, usually this is what people think at first when they thought Jimin (who sung the line) accidentally swears.[[/labelnote]]
* "Like an echo in the forest/On my pillow, on my table" [[labelnote:Explanation]]lines from the "Life Goes On" chorus. Taken further by the release of an "On my pillow" version of the MV, which had fans joking that "On my table" was next. Soon after, an "In the forest" version was released instead.[[/labelnote]]
* "Get it, let it roll" [[labelnote:Explanation]]A line from the "Butter" chorus, often used as a motivational line for [=ARMYs=].[[/labelnote]]
* Super Tuna [[labelnote:Explanation]]A trot song that Jin released on his birthday in 2021 with an accompanying choreography performance became the source of many memes and parodies, even leading to a dance challenge on [=TikTok=], much to Jin's embarrassment.[[/labelnote]]

!!From ''WebVideo/RunBTS''
''Run! BTS'' has been the source of many, ''many'' memes. For example:
* The Tomato song.
** Jungkook and J-Hope's disgruntled expressions after waking up from a 30-minute nap.
** Jimin's frustrated yell at getting the song wrong yet again.
* Suga and Jin's failed pictures in a "take pictures while jumping in front of a camera high above" game, used as a reaction to an EpicFail.
* Jungkook dancing and twerking while wearing glasses.
** Jin doing a slut drop, from the same episode.
* J-Hope's soul leaving his body - complete with a Windows-shutting-down sound effect - in an amusement park ride.
* The FunnyBackgroundEvent of [[https://twitter.com/girlsgenratlon/status/1053703251722412032 V aka. Taehyung happily dancing]] (while Jin freaks out blindly trying to guess what's inside of a box) has become a reaction image towards enjoying drama involving other people/fandoms (or representing BTS or [=BigHit=] watching fans after dropping a teaser or announcement).
* After the members' [[SeriousBusiness serious debate over mint chocolate]] in an episode, mint chocolate has become to the fandom what pineapple is for pizza enthusiasts on social media, with people hotly debating whether it's actually good. A coffee shop in Korea that offers discounts for official ARMY fanclub members for the ARMYPEDIA event [[https://twitter.com/modooborahae/status/1104598148868124672 also has mint chocolate on the special menu]].
* la chi mo la la [[labelnote:Explanation]]A telephone/whisper game episode had j-hope whisper "carbonara", which was then misinterpreted by Jimin as "lachimolala", and whispered that to Jin... [[spoiler:who somehow still got "carbonara"]].[[/labelnote]]

!!Specific - other
* "Jimin, you got no jams." [[labelnote:Explanation]]A ''Bangtan Bomb'' from 2014 named [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDlSqljhHD0 "Let's speak English!"]] featured the members on a plane to Los Angeles doing ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin. The quote is RM's response to Jimin supposedly being "no fun". Now a DiscreditedMeme on Twitter, though RM himself has referenced it several times, even in 2018.[[/labelnote]]
** "no jams" (as a noun or adjective) [[labelnote:Explanation]]A nickname used in some circles to refer to fans who still rely on heavily {{Flanderiz|ation}}ed perceptions of the members and outdated {{Discredited Meme}}s (such as the one above), as well as those who behave like the stereotypical obsessed DieForOurShip screaming fans, which sometimes overlap.[[/labelnote]]
** "Oh... my heart is... my heart is ''oh my god.''"[[labelnote:Explanation]]Another quote from the aforementioned video, this time by J-Hope.[[/labelnote]]
* A picture of the group making weird/cute/funny poses with the caption: "Apparently, their image is 'bad boys'." [[labelnote:Explanation]]Their image in music videos, performances and concept images during their early years (2013-2014) [[HilariousInHindsight was, in fact, "bad boys"]], which didn't coincide all that much with their off-stage persona.[[/labelnote]]
* "BTS BROUGHT ME HERE!" or any variation of that. [[labelnote:Explanation]]BTS fans like to publicize the group everywhere, which is often [[https://i.imgur.com/TV3SrYc.jpg satirized online]], but due to the group's huge popularity, many, including [=ARMYs=] themselves, think it began crossing the line when it started spilling out of K-pop, to [[http://www.asianjunkie.com/2016/03/02/bts-stans-are-now-even-influencing-bolivian-politics/ Bolivian politics]] or even crossed the line when it was posted on a suicide video. To go FromBadToWorse, the pervasiveness of "any armys here? XD" comments on Youtube ended up being used as a justification by some people in other K-pop fandoms to make [[DisproportionateRetribution the infamous "plagiarism boys" hate hashtag]] against BTS themselves. While fans still promote BTS everywhere, [[DiscreditedMeme this had pretty much died down as a meme by 2017]].[[/labelnote]]
* "Jungshook." [[labelnote:Explanation]]Images of Jungkook surprised have been labelled this way, both for the {{Pun}} and for the fact that his particularly expressive face [[https://knowyourmeme.com/photos/1355735-bts makes him look rather amusing in them]].[[/labelnote]]
** "Jungkook.exe has stopped working."
* "I'll sue you, Min Yoongi!" [[labelnote:Explanation]]A quote from a famous video taken at a fansign that shows Suga reacting somewhat awkwardly to a fan jokingly threatening him to "sue" him for being so attractive. Suga has reacted with humor to the incident since and has referenced it several times.[[/labelnote]]
* Namjoon's IQ of 148. Frequently brought up during seeming lapses in intelligence.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bm8SCr5meAI&ab_channel=ProfessionalFangirl J-HOOOOPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEE]] [[labelnote:Explanation]]During a comeback show self-reaction video for "Blood, Sweat and Tears" (where Kpop groups could see and react to their own performances from no more than an hour before), resident-J-Hope-cheerleader Suga suddenly began to shout this at every single appearance of his fellow member. He keeps doing it from time to time, such as in the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cx6ZYcZnoW4 "DNA" video reaction]].[[/labelnote]]
* Jin has acquired a number of nicknames due to his good looks attracting attention from non-fans
** Car Door Guy. [[labelnote:Explanation]]Jin's first nickname, gained in 2015 after being the first to come out of the car before going to the red carpet at a Korean award show - if you Google "car door guy", you'll only get pictures of Jin.[[/labelnote]]
** The Third One from the Left. [[labelnote:Explanation]]During the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, tweets by non-fans started to circulate with pictures of BTS on the magenta carpet (where the members appear aligned in a set order), asking who was the third member from the left. Said member, Jin, ended up gaining this as a nickname.[[/labelnote]]
** Worldwide Handsome. [[labelnote:Explanation]][[SelfAppliedNickname A nickname Jin gave himself]] after the "third one from the left" incident, referencing his worldwide popularity. He tends to enforce it on interviews.[[/labelnote]]
* The Prince of Busan. [[labelnote:Explanation]]The Jimin Stans in the ARMY started calling him as such after Jimin keeps being photographed in formal events wearing very prince-like outfits. Given his [[https://i.pinimg.com/originals/d5/4e/18/d54e187c24b80d0dc457fcaa7283b34b.jpg charisma]], [[https://i.pinimg.com/originals/46/b8/6d/46b86d6b9e34a933e3455bfcd7d17065.jpg grace]], and [[https://twitter.com/fate_jimin/status/1040349261597093888 fairy-like beauty]], its hard to not agree.[[/labelnote]]
** The Blonde Guy With The Silver Jacket. [[labelnote:Explanation]] During the 2017 AMA, [[https://www.koreaboo.com/stories/jimin-goes-viral-blonde-guy-silver-jacket-amas/ Jimin]] stepped out of the limousine and received a lot of attention due to his striking features and the aforementioned silver jacket. [[/labelnote]]
** The Guy in the Red Suit/Red Suit Guy. [[labelnote:Explanation]] BTS performed [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XZmUvIgCLc Idol]] on Series/AmericasGotTalent, and Jimin received a lot of attention yet again for his overwhelming stage presence, leading to non-fans becoming enamored into knowing who he is, subsequently being given the aforementioned name. [[/labelnote]]
* Jay. [[labelnote:Explanation]]J-Hope is said to get much more... ''relaxed'' whenever he goes to the US, becoming more prone to suggestive gestures and dance moves. Henceforth his new "American" name, meant to strike fear in the hearts of fans.[[/labelnote]]
* 12-am-KST-phobia. [[labelnote:Explanation]][=BigHit=] has the habit to release important content in preparation of a comeback (such as teasers, comeback trailers, concept photos, the ''Highlight Reels'', etc.) at exactly 12 am (Korean time), ''completely unannounced''. This has conditioned the fandom to start nervously wondering whether to expect anything to drop at 12 am KST whenever it seems there's a comeback approaching.[[/labelnote]]
* "I know X, but I don't know X name". [[labelnote:Explanation]] Based on Jungkook's [[BlatantLies transparent attempt]] to dodge a question about Hollywood crushes in [[https://youtu.be/BO8dhgN8eP4?t=1m36s an interview in the US]]. [[/labelnote]]
** Usually accompanied with [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/captura_de_pantalla_2018_08_19_a_las_33315_am.png this image]] from that moment in the interview.
* "karma is an ARMY." [[labelnote:Explanation]]A [[{{Pun}} punny]] phrase coined by [=ARMYs=] on Twitter after taking note of an odd pattern in which an anti says BTS will fail at achieving something, [[AndYouThoughtItWouldFail only for BTS achieving that exact thing, sometimes even immediately]] (examples include getting invited to the [=BBMAs=], getting into Billboard's Hot 100 list, getting invited to ''perform'' on the [=BBMAs=], winning daesangs, the list goes on), to the point that any public prediction of failure by antis will be treated as a reverse-prophecy. This is also applied to how whenever stans of other groups organize attacks against BTS, misfortune befalls their faves shortly after (eg. fans of a group trended a hate hashtag aginst a member on hs birthday; their group disbanded two days later amidst a huge corruption scandal). [[/labelnote]]
** "What Yoongi wants, Yoongi gets." [[labelnote:Explanation]]Related to the above, but on the reverse: whenever Suga (real name Min Yoongi) has stated a goal - even ''jokingly'' -, said goal ends up becoming reality (Billboard, stadium concerts, "Seesaw" becoming the #1 search term on [=MelOn=], etc.), to the point that BTS themselves have noticed. He's jokingly treated as a prophet by fans and fellow members as a result.[[/labelnote]]
*** "Minstradamus".
* "armeries"/"armchairs"/"armpits" [[labelnote:Explanation]] Nicknames often used in MaliciousMisnaming against [=ARMYs=], which now [=ARMYs=] themselves use jokingly for themselves, sometimes to call out or make fun of behavior of other fans.[[/labelnote]]
* "Namjoon and I have been living together for __ years" [[labelnote:Explanation]]Namjoon and ''especially'' Yoongi will be happy to remind you that they were the first ones to join the group and live together. Yoongi has brought it up so many times (including during a ''Run! BTS'' game), that many fans joke that he'll jump at any chance to tell someone (''anyone'') about how many years he's been living with Namjoon and how Strong their bond is.[[/labelnote]]
* Suga's tendency to hold hands with other members - and instances of Suga's attempts to hold hands being ignored - have led fans to joke about him constantly looking for someone to hold his hand, with fans clamoring for someone to ''please'' just give him what he wants.
** RM's unfortunate streak of trying and failing at shaking hands and giving high-fives because of people misunderstanding or not noticing him - including interviewers, fellow members, and an instance in ''Bon Voyage'' of RM reaching for something, only for Suga to misread the gesture and shake his hand instead -, have led to a similar clamoring for someone to ''just'' '''''notice''''' his attempts (or the logical conclusion of having him and Suga shake hands).
* The "Go Away" cat.[[labelnote:Explanation]] A [[https://twitter.com/BTS_twt/status/971763874700537856 video released on Twitter]] by BTS for Suga's birthday led to many fans noticing that the doormat to Suga's studio has an... [[https://twitter.com/780613/status/971764738056245249 interesting design]]. Cue many fans changing their profile pictures to the doormat or photoshopping it into pictures. [[/labelnote]]
* Thread: BTS as _______ [[labelnote:Explanation]]In March 2018, there was a relatively long period where there was no new content from BTS (not even new tweets) (Later it was known this was when they were discussing whether to disband). This propelled a number of extremely bored and desperate fans to do ''anything'' on Twitter to pass the time, resulting in increasingly odd threads categorizing BTS members in various ways, such as "BTS members as Franchise/{{Pokemon}}", "BTS as plants", [[SanitySlippage "BTS as spoons", "BTS as beards"]], etc., which quickly turned into different accounts competing for who could make the most ridiculous threads. Needless to say, the day BTS tweeted again was welcomed with open arms... That is, until November of the same year, when there was again no activity and threads returned with a vengeance (with one of them, of BTS as animal cell parts, [[https://twitter.com/TwitterMoments/status/1065278563069427712 becoming viral]]). It's become a running joke for whenever there's no public activity from BTS.[[/labelnote]]
* #Hello_We_Are_Beardtan. [[labelnote:Explanation]] After V jokingly made comments about growing a beard on Fancafe, someone posted an edit that had been circulating for a while of BTS with photoshopped beards, which both V and Jimin found hilarious. For April 1st (a few days later), fans began to circulate many other increasingly wilder edits of BTS with beards, also using them as profile pictures.[[/labelnote]]
* "but namjoon" [[labelnote:Explanation]] A common response among fans of other groups to an idol receiving accusations of problematic behavior, resorting to [[AdHominem whataboutism]] regarding RM ("but what about Namjoon, he also did X once!") instead of addressing the issue at hand.[[/labelnote]]
* Hoseok and bananas. [[labelnote:Explanation]]The ''Burn The Stage'' documentary reveals that [[BewareTheNiceOnes J-Hope aka. Hoseok]] once got mad at Jungkook and [[ItMakesSenseInContext threw a banana at him]], which fans found too funny not to make endless jokes about it.[[/labelnote]]
** "Just take it, you bastard!"
* Park Jamal. [[labelnote:Explanation]]After someone pointed out a vague physical resemblance between Jimin and Music/{{Beyonce}}, a fan tweeted a long joke-conspiracy theory about Jimin supposedly being Beyoncé's lost Korean son (his "real" name being Jamal), which became a running joke among Black [=ARMYs=] (and Beyhives, to some extent) on Twitter.[[/labelnote]]
* President Namjoon. [[labelnote:Explanation]]RM's status as both TheLeader and TheSmartGuy, as well as his charisma, eloquence and humbleness (among other positive traits) have led to jokes about him likely being a much better president than a lot of real-life politicians, especially in the US.[[/labelnote]]
* "i miss joon"[[labelnote:Explanation]]It has become an in-joke among RM-biased [=ARMYs=] to say this on Twitter ("Joon"= a nickname for RM's real name Namjoon), in the sense of missing seeing updates of him, seeing new photos and finding out what he's doing... even though RM is one of the (if not ''the'') most active members on social media, ''especially'' Twitter. Sometimes they say this mere minutes after a tweet by him. Legend says that if one fan tweets "I miss Joon", [[https://twitter.com/kayedaily_/status/1024969747954204673 it will cause a chain-reaction of tweets about missing him too]].[[/labelnote]]
* "Lil Meow Meow" [[labelnote:Explanation]]A cutesy, tongue-in-cheek nickname for Suga (aka. Yoongi), who is one of the shortest members and is often compared by fans to a cat both in appearance and demeanor. It began to spread on Twitter in 2018 when some fans started semi-jokingly using the nickname; however, when an anonymous ask told a fan to stop using it, saying that it "dehumanized" him (for context, he's usually {{Flanderiz|ation}}ed as some kind of unsympathetic, cold-hearted badass by certain parts of the fandom), fans only ''[[TakeThat doubled down]]'' on use of the nickname, spreading it further. And now it's spread to the RUN BTS and Bangtan Bomb editors.[[/labelnote]]
** Portraying Suga as ''much'' tinier than he actually is (sometimes combined with the above).
* Mocking problematic tweets by antis and ''akgae'' fans[[note]]most frequently solo stans or OT6 fans (vocal fans of only one member, or every member ''except'' one or two), or any kind of tweet with obsessive/overly protective/reprehensible behavior[[/note]] by replacing the names of the group or member(s) involved with the names of [=BT21=] characters or V's dog.
** In the same vein, mocking fanwars and arguments from other fandoms by faking {{Fandom Rivalr|y}}ies over songs, aka. "Paradise" stans vs. "Love Maze" stans, "Make It Right" stans vs. "HOME" stans, etc.
* Chaotic Jin. [[labelnote:Explanation]]Jin's apparent lack of care for what others think of him, his AwesomeEgo, his habit of acting on spontaneous questionable decisions such as cutting his bangs with kitchen scissors ([[https://twitter.com/BTS_twt/status/966597173478436864 and posting a video of it on Twitter]]), ripping or spraying paint on his pants, dyeing his hair only days after a comeback (managing to successfully argue with [=BigHit=] into reluctantly letting him do it), and being the one who most frequently makes jokes at the expense of Bang Si-Hyuk (his ''boss'') - all of this while ''[[RefugeInAudacity completely getting away with it]]'' -, has earned him a reputation among fans as some kind of rebellious ChaoticNeutral divine entity who does whatever he likes, with no one being able to stop him.[[/labelnote]]
** [=JinHit=] Entertainment. [[labelnote:Explanation]]Jin's jokes (?) about his goal being to become the owner of [=BigHit=], coupled with his apparent ChaoticNeutral nature described above, coupled with the apparent reveal from Korean media that Jin comes from a well-off family, [[https://twitter.com/BigHitEnt/status/576339822794526720 coupled with this]], has fans clamor for Jin to take over the company - that is, if his chaotic power hasn't made him the de facto CEO already.[[/labelnote]]
** [[https://twitter.com/jinscurves/status/1036988023114805249 "BE GAY! DRINK VODKA! DO CRIMES!"]] [[labelnote:Explanation]]What happens when you add his LGBTFanbase to all of the above. [[spoiler:He's just waving while on his way to a music show.]][[/labelnote]]
* [[https://www.pinterest.com/pin/760545455801162512/ This clip of Jimin appearing onstage from an ascending platform crouching with a goofy grin and then proudly posing dramatically]], from the DVD of an early-2018 fan-meeting in Japan, is often used in reference to something or someone's [[https://twitter.com/AureliaOT7/status/1193921750867697664 glorious return]].
* jincult [[labelnote:Explanation]]For Jin's birthday in 2018, fans on Twitter decided to celebrate in a tongue-in-cheek way by collectively changing their profile pictures to a particular picture of Jin wearing sunglasses. Acknowledged by Jin himself by making his ''own'' edit of the picture (see MemeAcknowledgement on the Trivia page).[[/labelnote]]
* The 2018 Mnet Music Awards gave us 2 memes:
** Namjoon cheering for Tiger JK, [[https://twitter.com/jeoncoke/status/1073916361234014208 only to belatedly notice the camera]]. Has been combined with [[https://twitter.com/btschartdata/status/1073543852152274946 the "Meryl Streep cheering" meme]].
** [[https://twitter.com/ggukreum/status/1073669525130829825 This edit]] of Jungkook walking through a runway (from the intro to "Airplane pt. 2") to Music/{{Beyonce}}'s "Partition".
*** (subject) on (subject's) way to (x) [[labelnote:Explanation]]The video quickly became used for jokes in some variation of "me on my way to [extremely dramatic/bad/outrageous decision]", topics ranging from everyday occurrences to historic events ([[https://twitter.com/KlMJEONS/status/1073942065942327296 for example]]).[[/labelnote]]
* From the 2018 year-end KBS Festival, [[https://youtu.be/i3BxCdaCjE0?t=66 Jin dancing]] and [[https://youtu.be/i3BxCdaCjE0?t=140 waving his lightsticks]] in a rather... peculiar way quickly became a reaction gif.
* [[https://twitter.com/BTS_twt/status/1079223771540549632 This video of V dancing]] (tweeted for his birthday in 2018). Often reposted with different music.
* Happy birthday, motherfucker! [[labelnote:Explanation]] Part of a GoodBadTranslation of [[https://twitter.com/BTS_twt/status/1079187121749905408 this tweet of Suga congratulating V for his birthday]], brought to you by Twitter's auto-translate feature. The fact that it still sounds somewhat in character for Suga (... [[NotSafeForWork a bit less so]] for [[https://twitter.com/JustAnEmoFuhk/status/1079335490204172288 the full tweet]]) only added to the hilarity, with a fan picturing him saying it while holding a gun.[[/labelnote]]
* ain't no fish inside [[labelnote:Explanation]] In January 2019, RM appeared in the [=VLIVE CH+=] chat talking (both in Korean and English) about food. At one point, he said "yo international armies. when u visit korea plz eat boong-uh-bbang. its a fish bread but not a fish bread [meaning that it's shaped as a fish but doesn't contain any fish]. ain't no fish inside"[[/labelnote]]
** thats not me fellas. don't look at me [[labelnote:Explanation]]Namjoon on the [=VLive=] chat again, this time talking about being reluctant to go see BTS' ''LOVE YOURSELF Tour in Seoul'' ConcertFilm: "i go to cinema… and my face on big LED screen... and I’m like wuh.. this suddenly? thats not me fellas. don't look at me"[[/labelnote]]
* The fact that Dispatch doesn't have anything on BTS is a meme itself. Following the reveal by Dispatch of Blackpink's Jennie and EXO Kai's romantic relationship at the start of 2019, a lot of memes popped up about how Dispatch will try to dig up dirt on BTS but have nothing to use against them - with the Dispatch employee finding members taking pictures of squirrels in the park, getting trapped in a hand-holding session with Suga, finding themselves be instead consoled by RM about their life issues, and so on.
* Seokjin gay [[labelnote:Explanation]]Short story: BTS’ LGBTFanbase retaliates against certain attempts to clear Twitter searches due to UnfortunateImplications. Long story: Due to various attempts from antis to spread hate or misinformation on Twitter resulting in names of members appearing along words like “ugly” or worse in search suggestions, it’s become a common practice to clear Twitter searches. However, a group of fans started to ask other fans to clear searches due to the words “seokjin gay” appearing in searches (because of articles talking about Jin’s popularity with gay fans), leading LGBT+ fans to question ''why'' “seokjin gay” would be bad or need to be "cleared" in the first place; this led to the words “seokjin gay” (and variations with other members) being spammed far and wide across ARMY Twitter.[[/labelnote]]
* A clip of RM saying "organic!" has become a common reaction video in talks about BTS' success and records.
* A recurring fandom joke is that there's a very simple way to prove that BTS don't do lipsyncing in live performances: because - as seen in music videos -, they're just really, really, bad at doing that.
** Similarly, wondering what cool hand gestures RM will pull in the next music video to cover his mouth to disguise his really bad lipsyncing.
* HEY ARMY! LOST THIS? [[labelnote:Explanation]]In early 2019, [=BigHit=] released the Armypedia project, an interactive encyclopedia of sorts where people would be able to write their own memories for every single day from BTS' debut to February of 2019. Each day would be unlocked for all users if one user found a "puzzle piece" pertaining to that day, which corresponded to a QR code (leading to a trivia question) you could find either in certain physical places around the world or online, with each code being accompanied with the phrase "HEY ARMY! LOST THIS?". Thing is, the codes started appearing at a ridiculously faster rate than fans expected, with various official accounts uploading a bunch in a single hour - leading to fans quickly becoming overwhelmed and annoyed by the phrase.[[/labelnote]]
* [[https://twitter.com/ARMYPeru_twt/status/1181235977685209088 This edit]] of Jungkook waving his arms along with a song, set to instrumentals of Michael Jackson's "Rock With You".
* "Rebuilding America isn't gonna get rid of [[IncrediblyLamePun the BTs]]." [[labelnote: Explanation]]A line from the ''VideoGame/DeathStranding'' E3 trailer.[[/labelnote]]
** "HOW TO KILL BTS" [[labelnote:Explanation]]Due to the all-caps banner, the IGN video tips for ''Death Stranding'' were written as that in the thumbnail. It eventually changed to "HOW TO KILL A BT".[[/labelnote]]
* The reveal of SM Entertainment's [=SuperM=] project (a new "supergroup" composed of members of several existing SM groups) and hype around them as the "[[Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse Avengers]] of K-pop" has been the source of many jokes about BTS being Thanos (who, in a twist of fate, just so happens to be purple), an invincible, ''inevitable'' enemy that has everyone else teaming up to defeat him.
* namjooning [[labelnote:Explanation]]A fan on Weverse made a post saying "What are you guys doing", to which Namjoon (RM) replied "i'm namjooning". Now the term is used in reference to RM doing any activities while on break and/or anyone doing any Namjoon-esque activities at all (such as riding on a bike for fun, caring for bonsai trees, visiting museums...)[[/labelnote]]
* [[TheScapegoat Blaming every minor inconvenience or issue]] that happens on Supreme Boi, a [=BigHit=] producer.
* Being "armyphobic", a term used when fans are acting up and causing drama within the fandom.
* The [=BTSMVAs=] [[labelnote:Explanation]]After the [[AwardSnub controversial]] nominations in the 2019 Video Music Awards, [=ARMYs=] decided to pay no attention to the ceremony and instead prepared their ''own'' ceremony on Twitter (celebrated at the same time as the [=VMAs=], where fans would vote on the best BTS music videos from their career. This included a pretend purple carpet (with fans using a template to edit "guests", ranging from the members themselves, to Yeontan, to other memes such as '''CRAZY FOR MYSELF''') and tongue-in-cheek fan-rivalries between different music videos (which came to a head when "Blood, Sweat and Tears" swept the awards).[[/labelnote]]
* While serious and worrying, the JTBC incident in early December 2019 was so ridiculous in how it went down [[note]]The JTBC channel aired a news segment announcing that BTS had supposedly sued [=BigHit=] regarding profit shares, with footage from inside the BH building - only for [=BigHit=] to release an official response (at ''3 am'') not only clarifying that it was a regular check of the contract renewal (since BH themselves recommended that the members sought legal advice from external sources for more fairness), checking with both the members and the members' parents if there was indeed some lawsuit (there wasn't), but also demanding an explanation of JTBC's motives ''and'' denouncing that the reporter from JTBC actually ''broke'' into the BH building without permission[[/note]] that [=ARMYs=] coped with the news with humor, having a field day on Twitter making jokes about JTBC finding random members of BTS or TXT in the hallway, [=BigHit=] calling the members and/or their parents in the middle of the night to ask if they were making a lawsuit, or joking that JTBC could taken their chance to leak ''anything'' better than a made-up lawsuit, such as the next album's tracklist.
* [=ARMYs=] making fun of themselves thinking that the album following ''MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA'', was going to be titled "Shadow" or "Ego", following the theme of Jungian archetypes. [[spoiler:It was at the same time both and neither, with the album being titled ''MAP OF THE SOUL: 7'' but having ''two'' comeback trailers titled "Shadow" and "Ego".]]
* "For every Yoongi pic there is a cat pic" [[labelnote:Explanation]]Following from the "comparing Yoongi to a cat" memes, every time there's a new Yoongi picture fans quickly find a cat picture that looks like him, no matter how unlikely.[[/labelnote]]
* You'll never catch Jin slipping [[labelnote:Explanation]]It has come to [=ARMYs=] attention that whenever there are group pictures of BTS where everyone looks blurry/with eyes closed/etc (particularly those taken in the middle of a performance), Jin somehow stays the only one still looking good no matter what. The pictures released by Corden on Twitter for their appearance in the Late Late Show in January 2020 were only taken as the exception that proves the rule (and led fans to praise the show for doing the impossible). [[/labelnote]]
* The part of Jungkook's ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgTwJQ2CUqI Golden Closet Film in Helsinki]]'' where among the nice shots and scenery there's a random scene of Jin and Jimin mock-fighting while j-hope cheerfully throws a thumbs-up to the camera has become a popular image template.
* delete this Ami [purple heart] / Ami? delete [purple heart] [[labelnote:Explanation]]A variation of jokingly tweeting "delete" by parodying serious attempts from extremely nice [=ARMYs=] at asking fellow fans to delete their tweet.[[/labelnote]]
* [=ARMY=]bots[[labelnote:Explanation]] Goes along with malicious misnaming, this term has been used by many anti-fans because they believe BTS uses bots in order to reach a staggering amount of album sales and streams. However, some [=ARMYs=] have reclaimed this term in order to mock antis and their absurd claims. [[/labelnote]]
* The announcement of BTS' third docu-series ''Break The Silence'' (following ''Series/BurnTheStage'' and ''Bring The Soul'') was followed by many jokes and tongue-in-cheek suggestions for the [[FunWithAcronyms title]] of the next BTS documentary.
* SUGA 93 hoodies [[labelnote:Explanation]] Based on a video of a woman fighting another while wearing a hoodie with "SUGA 93" in the back (which was official merch, 93 referencing Suga's birth year). [=ARMYs=] have joked about not messing with people who wear this hoodie, and used "I'll go Suga 93 on X" as a reference to squaring up to fight. [[/labelnote]]
* "I don't know what he said, but let's laugh" [[labelnote:Explanation]] Jin says this during "Carpool Karaoke with BTS", where James is speaking to the group in English and RM is translating for them. This gained a lot of usage amongst [=ARMYs=], particularly among international fans who watch BTS videos without subtitles. [[/labelnote]]
** "You're a joker guy" [[labelnote:Explanation]] Another Jin quote from that segment, after James Corden said that "Worldwide Handsome" was also his nickname in high school. [[/labelnote]]
** The guy in the middle [[labelnote:Explanation]] In the comments section for the segment on [=YouTube=], a lot of new viewers took note of J-hope's sunny disposition and started asking who the "guy in the middle of the front row" was. [[/labelnote]]
** Papa Mochi [[labelnote:Explantion]] After James Corden finds out that Jimin's nickname is Mochi, he becomes Jimin's honorary "Papa Mochi", and a lot of [=ARMYs=] began referring to him as such after the segment. This is acknowledged by James himself, who loves the nickname and even put it as part of his description on his official twitter. [[/labelnote]]
* [=ARMYs=] bragging about BTS earning their first #1 Billboard hit with Dynamite in every possible.
** And later doing the same thing when BTS becomes the first k-pop group nominated for a Grammy.
* #JIMIM [[labelnote:Explanation]]Jimin's emotional tweet immediately after learning about "Dynamite"'s (and BTS') first #1 on Billboard was written while he was crying, leading to a typo in his usual "#JIMIN". It was so simultaneously heartwarming, funny and adorable that [=ARMYs=] used it again while rejoicing over other similar great news, such as "Life Goes On"'s #1 and their first Grammy nomination.[[/labelnote]]
* Ohmmmmmmyyyyyyyyggghghhhhhhhgggggggggdhdhsjsixudbslsogbdsisgshdbxidjdbdidhdifjfiri [[labelnote:Explanation]] On November 25th, 2020, BTS received their first ever Grammy nomination, and posted a video of their reaction with that strange phrase as the only caption. The caption immediately began trending on Twitter, with several [=ARMYs=] retweeting and copying and pasting as their own tweet, with even James Corden joining in on it. This later became a common reaction on twitter whenever [=ARMYs=] are particularly shocked by something, especially regarding BTS. [[/labelnote]]
* JIN JIN JIN JIN JJINIYAAAAAA (thumbs up)[[labelnote:Explanation]]In the 2020 Melon Music Awards, the trot singer Young Tak performed the song "찐이야" or "Jjiniya", which has a chorus with the lines "Jin, jin, jin, jin, jjiniya" (meaning "Real! Real! Real!") with a choreography that involves aggressive thumbs up gestures. Of course, [[https://youtu.be/X0T8wwbh4Tw ARMYs immediately ran with it]]. Made all the more funnier when [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jfIOa_zgRc Jin and SUGA revealed]] that Jin has the song in his shower playlist ''because'' he finds it funny how it sounds like his name is being said repeatedly.[[/labelnote]]
* Jungkook as [[Anime/HowlsMovingCastle Howl Pendragon]]. [[labelnote:Explanation]] In BTS's "Dynamite" dance break practice video for the 2020 [=MMAs=], Jungkook's hair and clothes looked strikingly similar to the title character of the Ghibli film. The similarities were not lost on fans, who immediately began making memes of Jungkook as Howl and even jokingly asking for a live-action version of the film with Jungkook playing him. Became HilariousInHindsight as Jungkook appeared with blond hair in an acceptance speech for the Golden Disk Awards in January 2021.[[/labelnote]]
* Five Jungkooks or five-year-old Jungkook? [[labelnote:Explanation]] This question was first asked on Suga's vlive during late 2020, starting a RunningGag where the other members had to answer the same question when they went live after that. The question and the answers themselves are often quoted in the fandom.[[/labelnote]]
* Taechwita [[labelnote:Explanation]]The 2021 Festa[=/=]Muster concert featured a live version of Agust D's "Daechwita" by all the members, who performed various roles of the original music video. V appeared as a prisoner about to be executed, tied by a rope and wearing a comically fake beard, becoming thus the subject of many edits.[[/labelnote]]
* The eight member of BTS. [[labelnote:Explanation]]In an [[https://youtu.be/qsobCAGiuRU interview for WIRED]], the classic interview topic of "the eight member of BTS" came up, resulting in the members wondering how a hypothetical 8th member would actually adjust to the group and concluding that they'd probably hate it and all the dorms would be taken. This resulted in a ''lot'' of jokes in the fandom about this imaginary 8th member being TheFriendNobodyLikes.[[/labelnote]]
* Hello. This is Big Hit Music. [[labelnote:Explanation]] [=BigHit=] Music often puts these words at the beginning of statements that announce things like members getting sick. Appropriately, [=ARMYs=] will freak out when they read this.[[/labelnote]]
