* Name any RacingGame with licensed cars and/or bikes, and it's always this trope aside from one-make racing games such as VideoGame/OutRun 2. Notable ones including VideoGame/TestDrive, VideoGame/NeedForSpeed, VideoGame/GranTurismo, VideoGame/ColinMcRaeRally and VideoGame/DiRT, VideoGame/ProjectGothamRacing, VideoGame/Asphalt, VideoGame/Forza, VideoGame/GRiD, VideoGame/ProjectCARS, and so on. And that's only counting RealLife manufacturer brands!
* VideoGame/DisneyInfinity is a video game with a 'toybox' mode that allows player to mix and match characters from Disney and Pixar movies. Infinity 2.0 adds Franchise/MarvelUniverse characters and Infinity 3.0 adds Franchise/StarWars characters.
* VideoGame/LEGODimensions does the same as Disney Infinity, but with LEGO franchises and minifigures and non-LEGO properties, including Franchise/TheDCU, Film/TheLordOfTheRings, Series/DoctorWho, WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons, Franchise/JurassicPark, Franchise/ScoobyDoo, Franchise/BackToTheFuture, VideoGame/Portal 2, Film/TheWizardOfOz, WesternAnimation/AdventureTime, Franchise/HarryPotter, Film/MissionImpossible, Series/TheATeam, Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog, and even Film/ETTheExtraTerrestrial and VideoGame/LegoCityUndercover.
* VideoGame/TheKingOfFighters was the original crossover fighter, taking characters from several Creator/SNK series including VideoGame/FatalFury, VideoGame/ArtOfFighting, VideoGame/PsychoSoldier and VideoGame/IkariWarriors.
** VideoGame/NeoGeoBattleColiseum is an extension of the above, including also characters from VideoGame/SamuraiShodown, VideoGame/TheLastBlade, VideoGame/WorldHeroes, VideoGame/AggressorsOfDarkKombat, and even VideoGame/MetalSlug.
** The King Of Fighters XI also threw in VideoGame/BurikiOne and the VideoGame/FuunSeries in the list of games represented in the series.
** VideoGame/SNKGalsFighters is similar to KOF in that it has characters from SNK fighting games duking it out, the only real difference being that the roster is entirely female. It has a spiritual successor in VideoGame/SNKHeroinesTagTeamFrenzy. Both rosters mainly have characters from VideoGame/TheKingOfFighters, but the latter has Skullomania and Thief Arthur as GuestFighter DLC Characters, bringing this a bit further.
* A staple of store demo displays in the later 90s, Sega produced VideoGame/FightersMegamix, a crossover of VideoGame/VirtuaFighter, VideoGame/FightingVipers, and a couple one-off games such as VideoGame/VirtuaCop, VideoGame/RentAHero, VideoGame/SonicTheFighters, and even VideoGame/DaytonaUSA.
* Capcom's "VS" series:
** The VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom games, (VideoGame/XMenVsStreetFighter, VideoGame/MarvelSuperHeroesVsStreetFighter, VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcomClashOfTheSuperheroes, VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom2, VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom3 and now VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcomInfinite) pit the characters of the various game series produced by Creator/Capcom against the heroes and villains of the Franchise/MarvelUniverse in, naturally, a fighting tournament. Only the sketchiest rationale is drawn for this.
** Following this is the SNK Vs. Capcom series, (VideoGame/SNKVsCapcomMatchOfTheMillennium, VideoGame/CapcomVsSNKMillenniumFight2000, VideoGame/CapcomVsSNK2MarkOfTheMillennium and VideoGame/SNKVsCapcomSVCChaos) basically putting the characters of both companies' FightingGame series against each other. A spinoff series known as SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters is a TCG pulling characters from both companies' entire libraries.
** And then there is VideoGame/NamcoXCapcom, a action/strategy RPG featuring characters from Namco and Creator/Capcom.
** VideoGame/StreetFighterXTekken and Tekken x Street Fighter however are actual fighting games featuring Namco (VideoGame/Tekken) and Capcom (Franchise/StreetFighter) characters.
** Only related through the VS. series via the appearance of one Capcom series rather than multiple but what the heck: VideoGame/CrossEdge is a RPG with Compile Heart at the helm of development. Characters from VideoGame/Darkstalkers, VideoGame/ExaPico, Franchise/Disgaea, VideoGame/SpectralSouls, VideoGame/AtelierMarieTheAlchemistOfSalburg and Mana Khemia show up in this one.
** There's also VideoGame/TatsunokoVsCapcom, which returns to the gameplay of the Marvel series but instead pits the Capcom characters against the works of Creator/TatsunokoProduction like Gatchaman and Casshern. It is basically Marvel vs. Capcom using Japan's Marvel.
*** Even before Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, there was a Platform/PlayStation FightingGame called Tatsunoko Fight, which pitted four Creator/Production superhero anime (and one original made-up anime) characters, along with their females/sidekicks and villains.
* VideoGame/SuperMarioWar contains hundreds of user created skins that allow you to make the wackiest of situations. Any character that has been in VideoGame/SuperSmashBros has a skin in the game, and even very obscure and non-videogame characters have been made, making this the largest video game crossover.
* VideoGame/ProjectXZone is a SpiritualSuccessor to VideoGame/NamcoXCapcom, only now adding Creator/Sega (and technically Bandai of Namco Bandai, with VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration, and Franchise/DotHack being Bandai's franchises before the merger with Namco) into the mix. The sequel also adds Creator/Nintendo characters.
* Ken's stage in Street Fighter Alpha 2 features a number of characters from different Capcom games, including Pure the Mage from the crossover game Capcom World.
* Creator/Capcom's Adventure Quiz, Capcom World and Capcom Quiz games feature several Capcom characters in the shared world of Capcom Kingdom, with OriginalGeneration characters making cameos in later games. According to the mobile crossover game Minna to Capcom All Stars/Street Fighter x All Capcom, all Capcom heroes reside in Capcom World.
* Capcom's own MascotFighter: VideoGame/CapcomFightingEvolution. The only game where we were able to have a Zangief vs. Alex fightBefore the release of VideoGame/StreetFighterV anyway, and which not only had the distinction of being the only Capcom-madeVideoGame/SNKVsCapcomSVCChaos doesn't count, it was made by crossover not featuring Morrigan, (Anakaris, Demitri, Felicia and Jedah, plus Pyron as one of the final bosses, were the VideoGame/Darkstalkers representants) but also the only game where we were able to fight as one (or two) of the VideoGame/RedEarth characters who aren't Tessa. (Leo, Hauzer, Hydron and Kenji were the representants)
* In contrast, the VideoGame/SuperRobotWars series (almost certainly the originator of this trope in video game form) has magnificent, complex plots, and the individual games have touched upon nearly every HumongousMecha series in existence. Particular of note is how they merge individual episodes to make missions, including having the famous "dancing" episode of Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion set on Anime/Macross Island.
** Additionally, VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration is a Massively Multiplayer Crossover of various Super Robot Wars original characters (as each Super Robot Wars sub-series is set in its own universe)
*** Furthermore, VideoGame/SuperRobotWars OG Saga: VideoGame/EndlessFrontier is a crossover between VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration and VideoGame/NamcoXCapcom (minus the Capcom) - making it a crossover between a crossover between crossovers and-- oh dear...
*** And now we have reached critical mass with VideoGame/ProjectXZone when they put the Capcom part back in and add Sega while putting the aforementioned protagonists of the previous series in this one.
*** And then Project X Zone 2, the sequel, added Nintendo Characters into the mix (Specifically Fiora from VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles1 and Chrom and Lucina from VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening).
** And to top it all off, VideoGame/AnotherCenturysEpisode is VideoGame/SuperRobotWars using the system from VideoGame/ArmoredCore.
* VideoGame/ChaosWars uses a similar SRPG system to Super Robot Wars, but instead has more typical JRPG heroes from Atlus, RED, Idea Factory, and Aruze. This doesn't sound all that impressive -- outside of Atlus and maybe Idea Factory those companies are virtually unknown in the States, until you realize this includes VideoGame/ShadowHearts (Aruze), Growlanser (Atlus), VideoGame/SpectralSouls (Idea Factory), and VideoGame/Gungrave (RED). A sequel has been talked about, and there are hints that Franchise/ShinMegamiTensei/Franchise/Persona characters may make it in, and that Creator/NipponIchi might be invited to join the other 4 designers in the next series.
** And ditto VideoGame/TrinityUniverse, which has two story modes -- one with Nippon Ichi's (Franchise/Disgaea) characters, and one with Gust (VideoGame/AtelierSeries) characters. It apparently revolves around someone throwing trash into Laharl's back yard. Gust and NIS are making a habit of doing these crossover games -- NIS also has a habit of localizing all of Gusts' releases in the states, too.
* Yet another pastiche of SRW would be VideoGame/BattleMoonWars which merges the three major published Franchise/Nasuverse canons together: VisualNovel/Tsukihime, VisualNovel/FateStayNight, and Literature/TheGardenOfSinners.
* VideoGame/SuperSmashBros:
** The series centers around having a huge assortment of different Creator/Nintendo characters duking it out, from powerhouse franchises like Franchise/SuperMarioBros and Franchise/Pokemon to one-off retro games like VideoGame/IceClimber and VideoGame/DuckHunt. While the template was modest for the original game, it became more prominent from Melee onward.
** With Brawl (the third iteration), the series took it a step further by adding third-party Guest Fighters to the mix, with Creator/Konami's Solid Snake from the VideoGame/MetalGear series and Creator/Sega's Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog joining the fight.Sonic was actually intended to be in Melee, but by the time Creator/MasahiroSakurai could ask Sega, the game was too far along its (already brutal) development. Similarly, Creator/HideoKojima wanted Snake in Melee, but he requested too late in the game's development.
** [[VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosForNintendo3DSAndWiiU 3DS[=/=]Wii U]] has the aforementioned hedgehog as well as Creator/Capcom's Franchise/MegaMan from the Classic series and Namco's VideoGame/PacMan, with Ryu from Capcom's Franchise/StreetFighter, Cloud Strife from Creator/SquareEnix's VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII and Sega[=/=]Creator/PlatinumGames's VideoGame/Bayonetta later appearing as downloadable content.
** Fully realized in VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate for Platform/NintendoSwitch: every playable character in Smash Bros. history is selectable (and then some). The game even has more content from third-parties, with Simon and Richter Belmont from Konami's Franchise/Castlevania and Ken from Franchise/StreetFighter as fighters and Creator/Konami's VideoGame/Bomberman, Yacht Club Games's VideoGame/ShovelKnight, and Rathalos from Creator/Capcom's VideoGame/MonsterHunter as Assist Trophies, with the latter also being a boss (same with Castlevania[='=]s Dracula). And with DLC, you may add Joker from VideoGame/Persona5, up to four heroes from Franchise/DragonQuest, Banjo & Kazooie, Terry from VideoGame/FatalFury, Steve from VideoGame/Minecraft, Sephiroth from VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII, Kazuya from VideoGame/Tekken, and Sora from Franchise/KingdomHearts to the mix. All told, there's more than thirty different game franchises represented in the playable characters alone, and dozens more when you count stages, music, assist trophies, Mii costumes, and spirits, such as VideoGame/VirtuaFighter, VideoGame/SimCity, VideoGame/Rayman, VideoGame/Tetris, VideoGame/Galaga, Franchise/AssassinsCreed, VideoGame/Undertale, VideoGame/Cuphead, VideoGame/MetalSlug, VideoGame/Fallout, VideoGame/Warframe, Franchise/ResidentEvil, VideoGame/NoMoreHeroes, VideoGame/Shantae, VideoGame/DevilMayCry, Franchise/TheElderScrolls, and VideoGame/Doom. By the time the game's DLC cycle ended, the playable roster alone had fighters from 40 different series.
---> Sakurai: Simply put, this is the biggest crossover in gaming history. Once again, worlds will collide.
* Creator/SquareEnix's Franchise/KingdomHearts series merges nearly every movie in the Franchise/DisneyAnimatedCanon and some outside of it with the feel and characters of the Franchise/FinalFantasy series (though, just like the Tsubasa example above, the Disney characters are alternate universe incarnations, as implicitly stated in the Franchise/Tron world). Or are they?...
* Franchise/FinalFantasy:
** On the PSP is VideoGame/DissidiaFinalFantasy and its prequel Dissidia 012, where heroes and villains of various FF games face off as part of the machinations of two opposing powers. Dissidia would later be "rebooted" as a 3-on-3 arena fighter for arcades (sharing its name with the original) and then ported to the [=PS4=] as Dissidia NT, though its story is actually a loose continuation what happens in the first two games.
** VideoGame/FinalFantasyRecordKeeper, much like Dissidia, combines characters from all main games in the franchise, and even a number of spin-offs, the difference being that this is a somewhat decent (for mobile standards) RPG.
** VideoGame/FinalFantasyBraveExvius features characters from several Franchise/FinalFantasy games.
** VideoGame/DissidiaFinalFantasyOperaOmnia is the series' first true CrisisCrossover as far as having the various casts interacting with each other, featuring main series games and some others like Tactics, Crystal Chronicles, and more.
* Tales of the World, Namco's set of MassiveMultiplayerCrossover games for their VideoGame/TalesSeries. One bonus, though, is that the Narikiri Dungeon heroes' ability to dress as any Tales character and gain their abilities applies to bosses, too. Now add in the fact that theme music changes to whatever character or costume is in the lead of a party in battle, and you have a winning idea when a Tales fan can battle to Motoi Sakuraba's more popular themes, like Fighting of the Spirit or Decisive.
** A recent download introduces Taki and Mitsurugi from Soulcalibur for use as well.
** Tales of VS has recently been announced. It's a FightingGame that we have been told is going to have a total of 35 characters from 13 different Tales games. So far only 8 have been announced. They are: Stahn Aileron and Mighty Kongman from VideoGame/TalesOfDestiny, Kratos Aurion from VideoGame/TalesOfSymphonia, Richter Abend from VideoGame/TalesOfSymphoniaDawnOfTheNewWorld, Luke fon Fabre and Anise Tatlin from VideoGame/TalesOfTheAbyss, Shing Meteoryte from VideoGame/TalesOfHearts, and Yuri Lowell from VideoGame/TalesOfVesperia.
** VideoGame/TalesOfHearts itself is a borderline example. The cameo summons are somewhere between the trope and a very prominent ShoutOut.
* VideoGame/AstroBoyOmegaFactor for the GBA contains characters from many of Creator/OsamuTezuka's works. You gain levels by meeting new characters.
* Cartoon Network: Fusion Fall was a Creator/CartoonNetwork MMORPG that combines their various original series (including WesternAnimation/CodenameKidsNextDoor, WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddy, WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls, and WesternAnimation/Ben 10, among others).
* A.C.E.: Another Century's Episode is, much like VideoGame/SuperRobotWars, a massive crossover between a number of HumongousMecha series. It's an action game rather than a turn-based strategy game, though.
* VideoGame/MortalKombatVsDCUniverse, where blood-thirsty kombatants and superheroes beat up each other due to a HatePlague spread by an ugly fusion of two Big Bads.
* THQ's VideoGame/NicktoonsUnite series merged various Nicktoons with WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants, WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom and WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfJimmyNeutronBoyGenius consistently featuring as well as reoccurring appearances of varying frequency from WesternAnimation/FairlyOddParents, VideoGame/TakAndThePowerOfJuju and WesternAnimation/InvaderZim (long after the last one was ScrewedByTheNetwork), as well as Stimpy and Rocko in the console version of Nicktoons: Attack of the Toybots, and Aang in Nicktoons Nitro. It has since been followed by VideoGame/NicktoonsMLB.
** First there was the VideoGame/NickelodeonSuperBrawl series of browser games. Years later, the company went full Super Smash Bros. with VideoGame/NickelodeonAllStarBrawl, which even included Franchise/Garfield, who had been purchased by Nick but had yet to get his show by the game's release.
* Mobile Suit Gundam: Gundam vs. Gundam is an arcade FightingGame with a CrisisCrossover ExcusePlot that throws all thirty years of the Franchise/Gundam franchise together so characters like Amuro, Domon, Heero, Kira, and Setsuna can beat the stuffing out of each other.
** Similarly, there is VideoGame/DynastyWarriorsGundam that has several stories focusing on different pilots teaming up into two forces because of this. Eventually, you can even have different pilots using different mecha.
* Dengeki Gakuen RPG: Cross of Venus is a Platform/NintendoDS ActionRPG that throws Literature/ShakuganNoShana, Literature/IriyaNoSoraUFONoNatsu, Literature/KinosJourney, Literature/ACertainMagicalIndex, Literature/HarukaNogizakasSecret, Literature/BludgeoningAngelDokurochan, Literature/Toradora and Literature/AsuraCryin (with cameos from Literature/SpiceAndWolf, Literature/Baccano, Literature/Inukami and the Literature/BoogiepopSeries) together into a CrisisCrossover.
** VideoGame/DengekiBunkoFightingClimax, a traditional fighter for arcade and consoles starring characters from Dengeki Bunko properties, including Asuna, Shana, Mikoto Misaka, Kirino Kousaka, Shizuo Heiwajima, and Kuroyukihime. Representing Sega's own stake in the game (since they developed it) is Akira Yuki (with Pai Chan as an AssistCharacter), serving as the game's GuestFighter boss. There's no relation between those two titles .
* VideoGame/DreamMixTVWorldFighters is a fairly bizarre crossover FightingGame featuring characters from Creator/Konami, Creator/HudsonSoft, and Creator/Takara. It's a shame it wasn't very good; where else could you pit VideoGame/Bomberman, Simon Belmont, Solid Snake and Optimus Prime against each other?
* Creator/Konami has a series of crossover games including Konami Wai Wai World, Wai Wai World 2: SOS!! Parsley Jō, Wai Wai Poker, Wai Wai Jockey, Wai Wai Bingo, Konami Wai Wai Sokoban, Konami Wai Wai Racing Advance, New International Track & Field, Jikkyō Power Pro Wrestling '96: Max Voltage, the Mahjong game Hai no Majutsushi, the VideoGame/Parodius series and its spinoffs, and VideoGame/Otomedius.
* 's Mahjong game Hai no Majutsushi featured eight mascots from various other Konami games: Popolon, Aphrodite, Pentarou, Goemon, Dr. Venom, a VisualNovel/Snatcher, a moai, and a perverted version of Simon Belmont.
* VideoGame/Bomberman:
** VideoGame/SaturnBomberman features playable appearances from other Creator/HudsonSoft characters, those being VideoGame/Bonk, Milon, Master Higgins, Yuna, Manjimaru, Kabuki, Kinu and Manto.
** VideoGame/SuperBomberman R and Super Bomberman R Online both feature a lot playable cameos, ranging from well-known characters from Creator/Konami's repertoire like Simon Belmont and Pyramid Head, to other recognizable third-parties like Master Chief and Franchise/RatchetAndClank, to more out-there choices like VideoGame/InTheSaladKingdom and Reiko Hinomoto.
** VideoGame/PowerBomberman, a FanGame, features the return of many characters from previous installments, including a lot of earlier cameos such as VideoGame/LodeRunnerIn his Battle Lode Runner appearance, due to the NES versions of these two franchises being connected and WarioDue to his appearance in Wario Blast. However, the game also features playable appearances from characters from Creator/Konami and Creator/HudsonSoft that hadn't crossed over with the series before, including but not limited to Dino Riki, Rin Kagura, Sparkster and Django.
* VideoGame/MagicalBattleArena is a 3D flying FightingGame that pits the female mages and Magical Girls of Franchise/LyricalNanoha, Manga/CardcaptorSakura, Literature/Slayers, and Manga/MagicalCircleGuruGuru against one another, with more characters and series like Anime/MagicKnightRayearth included in Expansion Packs.
** Its sequel Magical Battle Arena NEXT throws in characters from Franchise/TouhouProject, Manga/FateKaleidLinerPrismaIllya and Anime/MagicalWitchPuniechan for good measure, albeit at the cost of removing some of the characters from the previous game.
* VideoGame/JumpSuperStars and its successors VideoGame/JStarsVictoryVs and VideoGame/JumpForce have characters from dozens of Weekly Shonen Jump series in a VideoGame/SuperSmashBros-style battle royale.
** Similarly, Battle Stadium D.O.N. is the same, but specifically has characters from Franchise/DragonBall, Franchise/OnePiece, and Franchise/Naruto (hence the D.O.N.).
** As far as mobile games go, there's Jump Stadium and Jump Hero Taisen. Most notable is Jumputi Heroes, which features over 90 different series.
* Speaking of which, Shounen Sunday and Shounen Magazine are looking to take a bite out of Jump Super Stars together with VideoGame/SundayVSMagazineShuuketsuChoujouDaikessen (Also known as Sunday vs. Magazine) on the PSP.
* VideoGame/QuakeIIIArena (and by extension, Quake Live) included characters from VideoGame/Doom (although two of them were invented specifically for this game), VideoGame/QuakeI, and VideoGame/QuakeII.
** The mod Generations Arena takes the above concept and runs with it, extending the crossover to the gameplay via five classes, each adapting the gameplay of said five games to the Quake III engine, right down to the finest details. Doom-style fast-paced battles and BFG against Quake-style flexible air control and powerful rocket launcher? You got it.
** And that's not even including custom skins, with which the crossovers skyrocket through the roof.
** VideoGame/QuakeChampions brings back most of the aforementioned characters from Arena, but also adds B.J. Blazkowicz to the mix.
* is a customizable 2D fighting engine that permits end users to homebrew reproductions of any other character in the entire genre, and create unique ones. Fighters already exist for every "vs" title released and almost every fighting games, and can be crossed over in unique ways.
* Creator/NipponIchi has released one, VideoGame/TrinityUniverse. It's made in conjunction with Gust and Idea Factory.
** VideoGame/AbsenceOfJustice has characters from almost all Creator/NipponIchi Series. Including the entire cast of the earlier Disgaea games. VideoGame/MakaiKingdom, VideoGame/SoulNomadAndTheWorldEaters, VideoGame/PhantomBrave and VideoGame/LaPucelle.
* This GameMod for Civilization IV has an All Fiction is True premise, allowing for a player to fight wars and build empires as several famous fictional leaders ranging from Agamemnon to Macbeth to Rama, Dracula, Rufus T. Firefly, and Jed Bartlet. Wonders of the World include Galt's Gulch, Hogwarts, Camelot, and Franchise/JurassicPark, and adds Hero Units like Literature/DonQuixote, Sun Wukong and The Time Traveller.
* The Creator/SquareEnix board game series VideoGame/FortuneStreet has character crossovers of VideoGame/DragonQuest with either Franchise/FinalFantasy or Franchise/SuperMarioBros depending on the game. Though traditionally NoExportForYou, a Western release was released for the Platform/Wii as VideoGame/FortuneStreet.
* Mentioned by the Nerd himself (well, his actor), VideoGame/SuperMarioBrosCrossover.
* The fan-made VideoGame/MushroomKingdomFusion combines a wide variety of classic and contemporary video game characters and universes together into one game. For starters, playable characters include Mario and Luigi, Wario, Sonic and Tails, Link, Arthur, and Roll.
* The cancelled VideoGame/IndieBrawl, a FightingGame à la VideoGame/SuperSmashBros, but with characters from the Indie Gaming culture.
* VideoGame/PokerNightAtTheInventory, a TabletopGame/poker game involving characters from Webcomic/PennyArcade, VideoGame/SamAndMaxFreelancePolice, VideoGame/TeamFortress2 and WebAnimation/HomestarRunner. VideoGame/PokerNight2 ups the ante by having [=GlaDOS=] as dealer, with Ash Williams, Brock Samson, VideoGame/AndMaxFreelancePolice, and Claptrap as opponents. [=GLaDOS=] and Ash especially being no stranger to crossovers by now.
* Any game on Nintendo systems that uses Miis as playable characters or [=NPCs=] can become this if you make enough of them.
* VideoGame/PlaystationMoveHeroes, featuring VideoGame/JakAndDaxter, Franchise/RatchetAndClank, and VideoGame/SlyCooper (and Bentley).
** VideoGame/PlayStationAllStarsBattleRoyale takes this concept, bolts on a few more franchises, and storms Super Smash Bros.s territory with a MascotFighter.
* The Macross Frontier PSP game series allows you to play all Anime/Macross universes. The recent title, Macross Triangle Frontier, covers Anime/MacrossZero, Anime/Macross (as well as Do You Remember Love), Anime/MacrossPlus, Anime/Macross 7, Macross Dynamite 7, Anime/MacrossFrontier (as well as Macross Frontier: The False Songstress) and Macross 2. This later came to a head with Macross 30, which brings all of the above (minus Macross II) together in a CrisisCrossover along with some OriginalGeneration characters.
* In a more literal example, VideoGame/Minecraft allows anyone to make their own character skins, which leads to 20+ characters all working together to build a house/civilisation and mine for diamonds. In a more official example, packs of skins from multiple properties can be purchased, included (but not limited to) Franchise/Halo, Franchise/StarWars, Franchise/PowerRangers, VideoGame/BanjoKazooie, Franchise/SuperMarioBros, WesternAnimation/AdventureTime, VideoGame/Fallout, Franchise/TheWalkingDead, the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse, etc.

* VideoGame/HeroesOfJinYong is set in the world of Creator/JinYong's novels, where you're inexplicably stuck in the literary world. You can repeatedly bump into the novel's characters and recruit them as part of your team, including Zhang Wuji (Literature/HeavenSwordAndDragonSabre) to Shih Po-tien (Ode to Gallantry), Duan-yu (Literature/DemiGodsAndSemiDevils), Chen Jia-lo (The Book And The Sword), Ling Hu-Chong (Literature/TheSmilingProudWanderer), Yuan Cheng-qi (The Sword Stained With Royal Blood), Hu-Fei (Flying Fox of the Snowy Mountain), and more heroes from several other novels. The remake also includes Zhou Bo-tong (Literature/TheLegendOfTheCondorHeroes), Yang-guo (Literature/TheReturnOfTheCondorHeroes) and agaisnt all odds, Wei Xiaobao (Literature/TheDeerAndTheCauldron) - the latter being from another later dynasty.

* NES pirate cartridge VideoGame/KartFighter drops the characters from VideoGame/SuperMarioKart into a fighting game, while World Heroes 2 (not to be confused with the actual VideoGame/WorldHeroes games) includes Ryu, Chun Li, M. Bison, Haggar, Andy Bogard, Lawrence Blood, Mai Shiranui, Mario, King Koopa, Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog, Leonardo, and Goku.
** The Mega Drive bootleg Top Fighter 2000 MK VIII attempts to take this one step further, (albeit with fewer characters) with UsefulNotes/MuhammadAli, (yes, the legendary boxer) UsefulNotes/MichaelJordan, (yes, the NBA star) Ryu, Goku, Kyo, ComicBook/Cyclops, Ryo and Geese Howard all playable characters. The title screen features the former two, while the intro sequence (which includes Ali punching Jordan in the face) implies that they were going for an UltimateShowdownOfUltimateDestiny between them.
* VideoGame/TheQueenOfHeart crosses over VisualNovel/ComicParty, Filsnown, Inagawa de Ikou, Kizuato, Shizuku, VisualNovel/ToHeart, Go To Heart, and White Album. VideoGame/Aquapazza crosses over VisualNovel/ComicParty, Kizuato, Routes, VisualNovel/TearsToTiara, VisualNovel/ToHeart, VideoGame/Utawarerumono, and VisualNovel/WhiteAlbum.
* The VideoGame/WarriorsOrochi series becomes this in the third game when it adds characters from various Koei Tecmo titles aside from the main VideoGame/DynastyWarriors and VideoGame/SamuraiWarriors series, including: Achilles, Ayane, Joan of Arc, Nemea, and Ryu Hayabusa. Its Updated Rereleases add Kasumi, Momiji, Rachel, Sterkenburg Cranach, and a guest character from Bandai Namco, Sophitia Alexandra.
** VideoGame/WarriorsAllStars adds to the mix VideoGame/Nights of Azure and VideoGame/Opoona.
* VideoGame/Widenyo, a very addicting and grind-tastic turn-based strategy game featuring 156 characters from a multitude of Creator/Alicesoft games.
* One of the oldest examples for video games? VideoGame/KingsQuest. Its FantasyKitchenSink setting was explained in Literature/TheKingsQuestCompanion by stating that Fairy Tale characters, mages, magical creatures, TheFairFolk, and gods of dying faiths literally withdrew to an alternate universe to survive.
* VideoGame/UniversalMonstersOnline does this with various Franchise/UniversalHorror characters; a few had already crossed over in the films, but the game adds several more to the mix.
* Namco Super Wars for the Platform/WonderSwan.
* The Hoyle series of games by Sierra involves a variety of Sierra characters and Sierra staff that you can choose as your opponents. The first one alone has half the cast occupied by King Graham, Princess Rosella, Colonel Henri Dijon, Shelly LeBlanc, Larry Laffer, Sonny Bonds, and Roger Wilco. The rest included some original characters, staff, and the staff's children.
** Sierra games themselves could be this. A typical King's Quest game ran on FantasyKitchenSink and had everything from dragons, TheFairFolk, a gnome spinning straw into gold, a climbable beanstalk, FairyGodmothers, Red Riding Hood and Granny, Dracula, Greek mythology, druids, Ooga-Booga land (an homage to Creator/TimBurton), and whatever else the designers felt like throwing in.
* VideoGame/CastlevaniaHarmonyOfDespair. Dracula's come to life inside a book chronicling his various reincarnations. Unfortunately for him, so have the guy that beat him for good, his reluctant reincarnation following that defeat, their witch friend, Dracula's human-sympathising son, the Belmont that said son freed from mind control, the girl that helped them, the Belmont Dracula cursed, who then killed Drac again to beat said curse, an amnesiac with magic siphoning powers, the duo that beat him and Death at the same time, and Getsu Fuma.
* VideoGame/BrutalMario. Mario vs Bowser and the Koopalings, King K Rool, Dr Wily, the enemies from VideoGame/TrialsOfMana and the cast of the Franchise/Kirby series, among others. That's not even counting the references in the overworld graphics/music or included in the form of the normal enemies.
* 1001 Spikes has many different characters from other games - Commander Video from VideoGame/BitTrip, Sugimoto, President Thompson and Zombie from Tempura of the Dead, Juni from VideoGame/KnyttStories, Nyx from VideoGame/NyxQuest, and Curly Brace from VideoGame/CaveStory. It even has an author avatar of Jonathan Blow (who made VideoGame/Braid ).
* 100% Orange Juice is virtual boardgame developed by the Doujinsoft group Orange_Juice to celebrate their 5th anniversary. Some series featured in it include VideoGame/SUGURI, VideoGame/sora, QP Shooting, Flying Red Barrel and Alicianrone.
* VideoGame/HeroesOfTheStorm is the Creator/BlizzardEntertainment crossover MOBA. Heroes from , , , VideoGame/Overwatch and even VideoGame/TheLostVikings get mixed up with a multiverse ExcusePlot and fight to the death across different battlegrounds.
* With the inclusion of Link, Villager and Isabelle as DLC and the Inklings in the UpdatedReRelease, as well as the Blue Falcon as a kart and Mute City, Big Blue and Excitebike Arena as tracks, VideoGame/MarioKart8 becomes this, to an extent.
* VideoGame/Runbow has become this with indie game projects headed to the 3DS or Wii U. Playable characters include Gunvolt, Rusty, Juan and Tostada, Swift Thornbrooke (from Sportsball), Scram Kitty (from Scram Kitty and His Buddy on Rails), Commander Video and Commandgirl Video, VideoGame/ShovelKnight, Xeodrifter (from Xeodrifter), Teslamancer, and Unity-chan.
* Creator/BandaiNamcoEntertainment's Nendoroid Generation is an obscure Platform/PlayStationPortable crossover RPG where you can see characters from Literature/HaruhiSuzumiya, Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanoha, Literature/TheFamiliarOfZero, VisualNovel/SteinsGate, Franchise/BlackRockShooter, Anime/DogDays, VisualNovel/FateStayNight, and even the popular doujin series which is the Franchise/TouhouProject, in cute Nendoroid forms in a story that no one seems to bother understanding. Part of the reason for the game's obscurity lies in the fact that it was never given an English version, nor did anyone make an English patch.
** It was said that Shana from Literature/ShakuganNoShana and Madoka from Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica would appear in the game as DLC characters, but there seems to be no evidence aside from them being in the character lists on various websites.
* The VideoGame/DarkParables series is pretty much this for fairy tales. Although there is only one playable character - the Fairy Tale Detective, who resolves the issues preventing HappilyEverAfter - there is an ever-expanding cast of characters from a variety of classic tales, all of whom interact with one another in some way or another. Thus you see things like Literature/SnowWhite's twin brother being engaged to Literature/Rapunzel, and Literature/AndTheBeanstalk confronting Literature/AndTheThreeBears, and Literature/Pinocchio's father being married to Literature/Cinderella's FairyGodmother - among many other connections.
* VideoGame/Tetris (Bullet-Proof Software, 1989) for the NES: The best ending has Peach clapping, Mario and Luigi dancing, Bowser on accordion, Samus on Cello, Link playing the flute, Pit playing violin, and Donkey Kong on drums.
* VideoGame/NewgroundsRumble features several characters from its namesake website -- VideoGame/Pico, VideoGame/AlienHominid, Hank, WebAnimation/SaladFingers, Fancy Pants Man, and several more.
* VideoGame/GameTengoku, also known as The Game Paradise, was a 1995 arcade shooting game by Creator/Jaleco featuring five characters from the company's past (such obscure titles as Exerion, Butasan, Momoko 120%, Formation Z and Plus Alpha) uniting against a crazy MadScientist who wants to control the world of arcade games. Since the whole game is set in an arcade, there are several more nods and parodies of old games from Jaleco and other sources. It also had a Platform/PlayStation-only sequel in 1998, adding even more characters.
* VideoGame/Dariusburst Chronicle Saviours is slowly becoming this thanks to its DLC packs:
** The Creator/Taito pack includes the Inter Gray from VideoGame/NightStriker, the Black Fly from VideoGame/MetalBlack, and the X-LAY from VideoGame/SeriesForce.
** The Creator/SEGA pack includes the Harrier from VideoGame/SpaceHarrier, Opa-Opa from VideoGame/FantasyZone, and the TRY-Z from Galaxy Force II.

* VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddysWorld features characters from all around the franchise: all four versions of the animatronics, characters who only make an appearance in the background or in the game's lore, and even Guest Fighters from Scott Cawthon's other games, VideoGame/ChipperAndSonsLumberCo and VideoGame/TheDesolateHope.

** Sandbox mod-only characters: ComicStrip/FlashGordon, ComicStrip/BuckRogers, John Carter and Dejah Thoris.

* VideoGame/Miitopia can potentially become this as a result of the Miis found online and the amount of player choice in regards to who's who. For example, you could have the Burger King as an actual king, Tingle as an official fairy, ComicBook/Batman fighting against Dark Lord Franchise/Kirby! Of special note is that there is a search function for Mii characters. Pick any character or real person with any amount of notability and you will be given 10 Miis for it, as long as you can name that character within 10 spaces. Doesn't matter if it's "Einstein," "Eisenstein," or "Eisenhower"; or "Sash W.," "Sash Lilac," or "SachaCohen"; you will find that character and can fit him, her, or it into the story somehow.
