Momoka Sonokawa is taking the train on her first day at a new high school, when she is molested by an old pervert. Luckily she gets help in the guise of an imposing older student... who happens to be carrying what looks like a Desert Eagle, the biggest handgun on the market. It turns out that this is Miou Ootori, who is her upperclassman and the president of the school's airsoft club, and her twin holstered pistols are airsoft guns.

The club already has three other girls... and a walking platypus. After a series of incidents involving a booby trap, handcuffs, rappelling and spiked food, she joins the club and takes part in "Survival Games" where they shoot airsoft guns at each other.

The humour in this manga comes out of airsoft battles being drawn and animated as if they were real, parodying action films, and every member of the club being some kind of nutjob, with Momoka being perhaps the worst of the lot.

Written and drawn by Hidekichi Matsumoto, ''Sabagebu!'' (さばげぶっ!) is a comedy series serialized in Kodansha's ''Magazine/{{Nakayoshi}}'' magazine from 2010 to 2016 (contrary to expectations, it is a ''{{shoujo}}'' series). It has been compiled in nine volumes, and an animated adaptation produced by Pierrot+ and directed by Creator/MasahikoOhta aired in the summer of 2014.

Compare and contrast with ''Manga/StellaWomensAcademyHighSchoolDivisionClassC3'', for obvious reasons.

----
!!Sabagebu! gives examples of the following:

* AceCustom: Miou's handgun. In episode 11, she says when she turned 18 and was able to buy an adult gun, she ordered parts from around the world to assemble it. Unfortunately Momoka had it decorated by mistake due to some miscommunication with a sweets decoration clerk the day before. [[spoiler:Hilariously, said decorations actually seem to improve Miou's handling of it, and the entire club returns to the store to have all of their guns decorated that way.]]
* ActionGirl: Pretty much all of the main characters due to the nature of their club.
* ACupAngst:
** Maya makes Momoka and Urara feel this way, leading to a long segment of natto torment.
** In the first OVA, after the girls land in a pool with eels, they notice that all of the eels seem to be attacking Maya. She calls for help, but the others have DullEyesOfUnhappiness as they watch the eels harass her. Three eels then attempt to cling to their chests, only to fall off due to their lack of large breasts. This only aggravates them more, and they all spit into the water and leave Maya to fend for herself.
* AgeInsecurity: An EyeCatch in the fifth {{OVA}} depicts housewife Kazue Sonokawa and high school teacher Ena Sakura in school uniforms with the text "17 YEARS". This is an ActorAllusion; Creator/KikukoInoue, who voices Kazue, founded a quasi-cult of voice actresses who always identify themselves as being 17 years old, even though she herself is ''well'' beyond that. Creator/YuiHorie, who voices Ena, is one of her "disciples."
* AHouseDivided: The girls in the second half of episode 6, when they fight each other over the right to sit in a comfy looking office chair first.
* AerosolFlamethrower: Used at the end of episode 3A to drive off the hornet swarm Sakura-sensei freed. Too bad it ''also'' ended up burning down the clubhouse.
* AesopAmnesia: Episode 4B is about Momoka gaining weight after her eating gets out of control. 4C contains a scene where she tells her mother she doesn't like broccoli, and is content to eat whatever she wants. This is then {{Lampshaded}}.
-->'''Narrator''': Momoka Sonokawa's ability to learn is so horrifyingly bad, she already forgot what happened a few minutes ago in Part B.
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: [[NewTransferStudent Momoka]] in Episode 1B. She has Miou's unwavering interest, and the {{Clingy Jealous Girl}}s don't take this well. Unlike most examples, this was not only resolved by the end of the scene, but it was a ''set up for a gag''!
* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents: Momoka's mother calling her [[InSeriesNickname Mokarin]] while Miou is visiting her house in episode 2. She immediately chastises her mother, to the point she starts to cry a little, though Momoka realizes she went too far. She was just happy her daughter made a friend, even if Momoka may not necessarily see it that way. And during episode 7, [[spoiler:her mother comes disguised in a very suspicious looking outfit in an attempt to not be seen and therefore bring embarrassment to Momoka. Unfortunately her actions end up making things worse, as she does various things for the girls, such as cutting Urara's long bangs, putting some clothing on Maya, and giving food to Kayo, due to various issues her mother noticed they had.]]
* AnOfferYouCantRefuse: Miou wants Momoka in the Survival Game Club one way or another. Even if it means drugging her and having her "turn in" the paperwork to her teacher while she's unconscious.
* AprilFoolsPlot: The first half of the second OVA.
* ArtShift: Episode 6A becomes gnarly and desaturated when it becomes a parody of Yakuza films. Two of the [=OVAs=] are in a simpler, more chibi style, following yonkomas in the manga.
* AssKickingPose: Each girl has one, when they draw their guns for a shootout.
* AttackItsWeakPoint: In episode 5, while receiving some TrainingFromHell by a Buddhist monk, he hits the girls in the shoulders if they do anything other than meditate, such as sleeping. Momoka distracts the monk by claiming there's a UFO outside, then puts on some shoulder pads to absorb the monk's stick, and feigns losing concentration. He responds by smacking her in the butt rather hard, stating that her shoulder pads were really obvious.
* AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever: Yammy grows in size in episode 12 when combating the government troops. The narrator immediately [[LampshadeHanging points this out.]] And when she's finally "killed", her motionless body is still huge when an overhead shot flies through the battleground. She reverts to her normal skinny size after the battle ends.
* BackForTheFinale: ''Everyone'' that Momoka crossed guns with over the course of the series -- including her own mom, Yammy, and the old folk from Miou's neighborhood -- comes back to fight alongside the Survival Club a hand in the final TV episode.
* BackToBackBadasses:
** Momoka and Kayo when they team up against Miou, Maya, and Urara.
** Momoka does this with Miou in episode 12.
* BadassAdorable: Everyone in the Survival Game Club. Momoka, in particular, is this due to being a CombatPragmatist.
* BattleOfTheStillFrames: Used in episode 12 when the survival game club attempts to escape from the government troops to keep a sick Momoka away from them.
* BeachEpisode: Urara tries to evoke this in episode 9 wearing a bikini and sunglasses while laying on a chair. Maya immediately reminds her they're at the school pool, and it'll be a few months before summer arrives.
* BearsAreBadNews:
** After Roselia complains about not getting the teddy bear Miou won at a festival a few years back in episode 3, she says she'll get a bear for her. She then fires a shot, and hits an actual bear, who then gives chase to them. Hilariously said bear, along with all the animals from earlier, are sharing an outdoor bath with several of the girls.
** Momoka mentions in episode 12 that Urara was looking at a teddy bear in a store, and suggested they get that for her birthday. Miou jumps on it and orders a bear. Unfortunately she ordered a real bear, which then escapes into the city.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: In episode 8's battle, Maya happily wanders around, hoping that she won't be the first to die. She then gets a call from Miou, who tells her everyone else has already been defeated.
* BecomingTheMask: Yayoi in episode 6 joins the lunch ladies in order to sabotage Miou. When the vice president comes to check in some time later, Yayoi has completely integrated into the group, drinking tea and being content with delivering smiles to the kids.
* BetterThanABareBulb: The narrator's comedy is derived from this mentality. LateForSchool with toast hanging from your mouth? He calls it cliché, even bringing up that it's from a {{Shoujo}}magazine. Lots of blood, bullet sparks, and muzzleflashes in an airsofting match when there shouldn't be? He lets us know that [[MundaneMadeAwesome it's all in the girls' imaginations]] and that [[invoked]][[MST3KMantra we shouldn't be thinking too hard about it]].
* BetterToDieThanBeKilled: After Maya inadvertently falls off a cliff in episode 8 while escaping from some perverted girls, she thinks to herself that dying would be better than being humiliated by said girls. Fortunately she lands in a barrel full of water, but after finding out her barrel is see-through, she tries to get away from the girls again, this time falling into a river below with the girls chasing after her.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Momoka's mother turns out to be quite a deadly gunfighter as well, and manages to defeat her daughter in episode 4. She also handily defeats them in episode 7 when they attack her.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: The elderly group the survival game club goes up against in episode 9. They seem frail and easy to defeat, but they end up giving the girls a run for their money.
* BigBreastPride: Maya seems proud of her large assets. Momoka later gets some payback in "killing" her by shooting her breasts during their airsoft game, which the narrator points out. She also later uses that as an excuse to give Maya some TrainingFromHell to help her overcome her disgust for natto in episode 2.
* BigDamnHeroes:
** Miou intervenes twice to help Momoka in the first episode. The first is when saving her from the DirtyOldMan on the train, and the second when saving her from some girls who were bullying her.
** Miou does it again in episode 3 for Momoka after Roselia gains the upperhand in the fight.
* BigNo: Urara does one in episode 5 after she escapes from the ledge on the fourth floor bathroom.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: The club somehow ends up with ''two'' of these:
** Momoka herself. Although she ''looks'' like your usual OrdinaryHighschoolStudent main character, she cares for little other than money and getting revenge on those who wronged her.
** Urara. Sweet and cute on the outside, violently jealous in the inside. Indeed, in the second episode, the narrator points out that it's largely because of ''her'' that the club is stuck with just four members prior to Momoka, despite Miou being ridiculously popular with the student body. She does lighten up on this after Momoka does some payback on her, and instead diverts much of her attention to her instead.
* BlackComedy: The show runs on this. Any violence shown seen is typically PlayedForLaughs.
* BlackComedyRape: The final joke of the final episode is the members of the club giving a BoundAndGagged Momoka to Urara as a birthday present. The last scene shows Momoka tied up naked in a bath while Urara prepares to get in it with her.
* {{Blackmail}}: Miou threatens to use Momoka's embarrassing nickname "Mokarin" at school after learning it from her mother in episode 2 to get her to take part in the morning training for the survival game club.
* BlandNameProduct: In the sixth OVA, Kayo has Miou and Momoka play the Pozzie Game. Immediately lampshaded, as usual.
* BlankWhiteEyes:
** Combined with ColorFailure, when the club learns that they've been volunteered by Sakura-sensei to take care of the school's hornet problem.
** The girls have this look on their faces again in episode 7 when attempting to get a hunting license to help out a village plagued with vermin. [[spoiler:Unfortunately the hunter they met in the village is at the licensing test facility, and he tells them they have to be at least 20 years old before they can acquire one.]]
* BloodFromTheMouth: The old hunter the girls meet in the village during episode 7 does this shortly after the girls volunteer to help him drive off the animals eating the village's crops.
* BlueWithShock: Several characters display this occasionally. And in episode 3 several of the girls have this look as they await the arrival of their club advisor.
* BoomHeadshot:
** Momoka does these with surprising regularity in the airsoft battles.
** Momoka's GoodAngelBadAngel end up fighting each other, and both get finished off this way. [[spoiler:The bad angel loses to the good one, while the good one suffers a headshot by Momoka.]]
** Several people suffer this in the airsoft match in episode 9 on both teams.
* BornUnlucky: The club's adviser, Ena Sakura, to a ridiculous degree, though as things are shown, at least half of her misfortune is ''her fault''.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: Momoka comments on the narrator talking, and even challenges the title card itself at the very start.
* BrokeEpisode: Momoka goes on a treasure hunt to find some money in episode 10. Unfortunately said treasure is at her old place, so she has Miou take them there via a plane. [[spoiler:Then she doesn't find treasure, but an embarrassing poem written by her younger self about friends being the true treasure.]]
* BrutalHonesty:
** In episode 4, the other club members try to delicately suggest that Momoka has put on some weight, but Miou just flat-out calls her a fatso.
** Momoka's harsh response to hearing about Yammy being rejected by a guy she liked in episode 10. Though she actually meant to be cruel, Yammy found it funny and it surprisingly helps her overcome her eating disorder.
* CallBack: In episode 12, Miou asks Momoka if she's having fun as they battle it out with the government troops. Momoka then recalls her asking the same thing when she first fired an airsoft gun back in the first episode, and says she is.
* CameraAbuse: A few times the characters throw something -or ''someone''- at the camera.
* CarFu: Momoka asks Lemon Fried Chicken to drive the semi truck they're in off the ledge with the intention of taking out the helicopter in episode 9. He's reluctant to do it, but Momoka puts on a BishieSparkle display and says he can do it. Shortly after the truck leaves the road, Momoka jumps out of the vehicle, though he does manage to hit the helicopter at least.
* CatchPhrase: "That is Momoka Sonokawa" from the LemonyNarrator, after summing up one of her many unpleasant traits.
* TheCavalry: Many of the characters Momoka met and fought against show up in episode 12 to lend the Survival Game club a hand in dealing with the government troops. Subverted in that they all get killed in the showdown and Momoka decides to surrender anyway.
* ChekhovsGun: At the start of 3A, Sakura-sensei mentions that she injured herself with a lighter she confiscated from a female delinquent. [[spoiler: At the end, the lighter is used to make an improvised flamethrower to chase off the hornets]].
* TheChikan: Momoka suffers from one on her first subway ride to Aogiri. The man soon finds himself facing the business end of Miou's Desert Eagles.
* ChildhoodFriends: Miou and Urara.
* ChronicBackstabbingDisorder:
** Momoka does this towards Kayo in episode 2. After they team up to defeat the other three girls, Momoka says their battle ends in a draw. Kayo agrees and lowers her defense, only for Momoka to then shoot her.
** Momoka again in episode 6, when she offers a truce with Miou, only to later kill her after they've wiped out the competition.
* {{Cliffhanger}}: Some episodes end on one, like the tenth one ending as the girls are invaded by dog aliens. Most of the time, the next episode just has them back at home with no mention of how they escaped their predicament.
* ClingyJealousGirl:
** Two of Momoka's classmates are rather jealous about how she's already noticed by resident popular girl Miou and also seems to be ignoring her. Momoka tries to downplay it, but Miou only adds fuel to the fire by stating they've already shared some toast together. All of her classmates also ostracize her as well after learning about it, and the two girls get pretty mean, writing on her desk and destroying her gym clothes, and tossing her bag and lunch out of the window.
** Urara plays the trope more straight, and doesn't like how Miou seems to have taken a shine to Momoka. So in episode 2, she asks Momoka to be her partner during the stretches, but ends up putting wrestling moves on her instead, then throws her out on top of the trash, and tells her to stay away from Miou. After Momoka gives her a beating, Urara transfers her emotions towards the former instead.
** The crowd of girls that surrounds Momoka in episode 7 when she's dressed up like a man. At first she teases them, but when she shows much more affection to one girl, all of them get incredibly jealous and chase her down.
* CloseCallHaircut: Roselia suffers this in episode 3 after being distracted by a cat.
* ClothingDamage:
** Maya suffers this in episode 8 when their club battles another team. The rival girls quickly dispatch Maya's teammates, and when she's alone, they deliberately shoot at her already skimpy outfit to reveal even more skin.
** Maya again in the first OVA when a shark strips her clothes off. Momoka doesn't escape unscathed however; her butt portion is bitten off by a shark after she makes it to the goal.
* TheCoconutEffect: Lampshaded when the narrator recognises that Momoka's gun not being cocked back after she runs out of bullets is a mistake, but is done because it is seen so often in films.
* CoincidentalBroadcast: Happens in episode 12. Momoka enters the clubhouse with a multiplexed voice, complaining of intermittent fevers. Shortly after, Sakura-sensei turns on the TV to catch her morning dramas, just in time for everyone to see a news report advising to look out for a virus whose symptoms include a multiplexed voice and intermittent fevers.
* CombatPragmatist: Momoka is ''absolutely ruthless'' in the survival games. It's what Miou likes the most about her. She shoots Miou in episode 2 after the latter surrendered, and calls her match against Kayo a tie, which the latter accepts. She then shoots her in the head anyway.
* ComedicSociopathy: The show's whole M.O.
* ComicallyMissingThePoint:
** In episode 3, Miou says she'll get a bear for Roselia due to the latter complaining about the former walking off with a teddy bear from a booth game that she wanted. She then fires a shot, and a real bear shows up. Miou then wonders why Roselia suddenly doesn't want said bear.
** In episode 6, the student council president asks the club leaders if any of them have any questions. Miou then asks why your teeth squeak when eating spinach. Even the president [[NotSoAboveItAll turns away to snicker]] before putting on a serious face again, while the other girls seem amazed at Miou's philosophical question.
** In episode 8, Kayo dresses the girls up in colorful Christmas-themed gear during their latest airsoft battle. Unfortunately they're fighting in a snow-covered area, and their opponents are quite well equipped in combat outfits.
* TheComicallySerious: Miou comes off as this from time to time, such as asking a non-sequitur about spinach in the student council meeting in episode 6, in her most dramatic and commanding voice.
* ContinuityCavalcade: The battle in the finale, with all the reunited fighters.
* ContinuityNod: The montage of Momoka at the convention in the fifth OVA has a scene with the three pantyshot photographers targeting some cosplaying girls, with Momoka trying to sneak away while wearing the natto costume from episode 2.
* CosplayOtakuGirl: Kayo. While she's okay with the gun-related shenanigans her clubmates engage in, she's mostly in for the excuse to cosplay her favorite dresses. Jill Valentine's get-up from ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil3Nemesis'' seems to be a particular favorite of hers, and the one she most uses during club "shootouts".
* CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot: In episode 2, when Momoka is alone with Kayo in the club room, she's a bit unnerved by the latter not talking as well as switching costumes repeatedly. She then assumes Kayo is challenging her, and they end up in a gunfight. Afterwards Kayo says she just wanted to talk about cosplay after seeing Momoka in a commercial dressed up in a costume, but didn't want to bring it up lest she looks like a cosplay otaku.
* CrazyPrepared: The three photographers attempting to get a PantyShot of Momoka in episode 8. One of the first things they attempt is to have her bend down to pick up a 500 yen coin, but Lemon Fried Chicken warns her of it. They then try various other things, and no matter what Momoka tries, they always find some crazy counter for it, such as bringing out a huge fan to blow on her after she tucks her skirt into her panties in an attempt to some field-expedient pantaloons.
* CreditsRunningSequence: Momoka does one in the opening.
* CrossPoppingVeins: Happens from time to time.
* CrystalBallScheduling: The survival club watches a yakuza movie in episode 6. While Miou enjoyed it, Momoka and the others think it's a bit boring and aren't influenced by it a bit. However, once an office chair is brought into their clubroom, a fight breaks out much like the scene they watched, and the girls end up killing each other for the right to sit in the chair first. Momoka, being a little GenreSavvy thanks to the film, ends up not dying the same way the last man in the movie did. [[spoiler:But when she sits in the chair, which turns out to be a cheap knockoff, it collapses and she dies from the fall.]]
* CurbStompBattle:
** Momoka is usually on the giving end of these, although she does do a lot of underhanded things such as shooting her "allies" after they've defeated their common foe.
** Momoka's mother, on the other hand, completely wipes the floor with her daughter.
* CuteLittleFangs: Roselia posses a rather large one.
* CutenessEqualsForgiveness: The attacker in the jungle during episode 10 attempts this after he's caught in Miou and Momoka's trap. He puts on a cute face and begs forgiveness, but Momoka simply shoots him in the head.
* CutenessProximity:
** Momoka's initial reaction to Roselia when she sees her in episode 3. Her perception changes almost right away however, due to the latter pointing a gun at and insulting her when Momoka was simply trying to talk to her.
** Roselia falls for this when a cat shows up out of the bushes right before she finishes off Momoka later in the episode.
** The girls attempt to drive off some wild animals eating the crops of a village they run across. But the animals make cutesy faces at them, and they're hesitant to shoot. Fortunately a hunter shows up and fires some loud warning shots which scare them off.
* DancingTheme: The ending theme.
* DarkestHour: Episode 12 for the Survival Game Club. They're trapped in a church with no hope of escape, but then TheCavalry arrives to back them up. Kayo gets extremely excited by this turn of events.
* DeathByIrony: Momoka suffers this in episode 6 when the girls have a fight over who gets to sit in the comfy office chair their advisor brought in first. [[spoiler:She kills the other girls in a gunfight, then gets killed when the shoddy chair collapses and she hits her head on a rock.]]
* DebutQueue: The early episodes introduce new characters, then spends an arc with them to develop them a little, such as Momoka dealing with Urara in episode 2, and later Maya and Kayo.
* DeepImmersionGaming: Invoked during the gun battles. Though they are using airsoft guns, the guns look and sound as if they are firing real bullets. And when they get "hit", they spray out blood as if they were really shot. The narrator [[LampshadeHanging immediately points this out]] in the first episode as well as subsequent ones, and states said effects are simply a result of the girl's imagination.
** By episode 4, the narrator lampshades this, stating that though viewers should already know by this point, but said violence is all in the combatants imaginations. He still reminds viewers from time to time in later episodes as well.
* DefiantToTheEnd: Momoka after being defeated by Roselia in episode 3, refuses to let her badmouth Miou, despite having lost her gun and being one shot away from losing the match.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: In the first OVA, Miou tells the girls to leave their guns behind while they do some obstacle course training to toughen up their mind and body. Said obstacle course seems fairly normal at first, but then they find out Miou put real life sharks in there. After they reach their goal, Miou says there's nothing they can't accomplish with their guns. Momoka reminds her they left their guns behind as the episode ends.
* DirtyOldMan: The man who was gawking at Momoka in the first episode on the train. She gets some payback after his fight with Miou, and he apologizes for his actions.
* DisproportionateRetribution:
** Momoka's revenge frequently goes overboard. For example, Miou's fangirls unleash some standard schoolgirl bullying tactics on her - they put tacks in her shoes, shove her desk out of the way during lunch, and toss her bag out into a window and into the yard. In response, Momoka puts ''mountains'' of tacks in their shoes, smashes their desks to pieces, throws their bags in the school incinerator, and then cuts up their uniform skirts for good measure. And this is ''after'' they apologized, mind.
** Kayo and Platy both "kill" Momoka in episode 10 after she makes fun of the former's poem, and thinks about selling the latter off since he's a rare species worth a lot of money.
* DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength: Urara accidentally breaks the handle on the toilet in episode 5 after grabbing it a bit too hard. She's terrified of not being able to flush because it would ruin her image as a "pure" girl if someone saw the toilet.
* DoNotGoGentle: In episode 12, Miou says she'd rather go down fighting than give Momoka up to the government for quarantine after the latter catches a new disease spreading around town.
* DontTryThisAtHome: The narrator warns this after the girls make an AerosolFlamethrower, as well as when Momoka loses weight by constantly eating and vomiting [[LethalChef Urara's cooking]].
* TheDragAlong: Momoka was coerced into the Survival Game Club.
* TheDreaded: Momoka comes into the clubroom in episode 3, only to find all of the other girls BlueWithShock and dreading something. They tell her about this dangerous person who wreaks a lot of havoc, and she has an ImagineSpot of Creator/ChuckNorris waltzing through a forest with guns and a pack of dogs. She then finds out they're talking about the club advisor, Sakura-sensei, who does drag a pack of stray dogs into the club room and does some incredibly stupid things which makes her reputation well deserved.
* DullEyesOfUnhappiness: Momoka displays some after finding out her bag was tossed outside of the classroom. Some girls laugh at her until Miou intervenes.
* DwindlingParty:
** Generally the girls get killed one by one in several of their battles. Played especially straight in episode 10 when they're being hunted by an invisible attacker who shoots them, then puts them in a playboy bunny outfit.
** Almost everyone that shows up to help Momoka out end up getting killed one by one by the government troops in episode 12. Only Momoka, Miou, and oddly enough, the old senile lady, survive unscathed.
* ElaborateUndergroundBase: The show has two examples so far:
** There's a massive simulated city battleground located right under the gun shop.
** The Survival Club inexplicably has a sprawling underground facility under their decrepit-looking clubhouse. The narrator puts a lampshade on this, and says that [[MST3KMantra it's best not to think about it too hard]].
* EmbarrassingNickname: Mokarin for Momoka. Miou uses it to her advantage.
* EnemyMine:
** During episode 2, Momoka and Kayo end up in an impromptu battle. Miou, Maya, and Urara then decide to join in. The two girls decide to team up to take out the other three first.
** Momoka and the priest do this in episode 5 after getting annoyed at how tranquil Miou was at the meditation session at the temple. They join forces to distract her with various noises and funny antics. In the end however Miou is completely calm and doesn't notice anything until Momoka tells her it was time to go home.
** Momoka does this with Miou and Urara in episode 6, deciding they should team up to defeat the others. In the end she betrays them all and kills Miou and Urara for the right to sit in the chair first.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Miou is shown brandishing her pistols right away in the first episode to protect Momoka from a creepy pervert.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer:
** Miou is very popular with the ladies of the student body, to say the least. Momoka hilariously thinks that Miou would be the strange one, following her around in full combat gear, and fears she'd be associated with said "weirdo". Then when some fangirls approach Miou, they knock Momoka out of the frame to reach her.
** The other airsoft team the survival club plays against in episode 8 are obsessed with Maya to the point of wanting to marry her and have children together.
* EyePoke: A variation of this occurs in episode 11, when a crab puts its pincers into Urara's eyes when she lunged at Maya to pry it off her.
* ExposedToTheElements: Episode 8 with the club wearing skimpy Christmas-themed clothing in the snow. Maya gets even worse towards the end, when her clothes are shot off and she's left in her underwear. The whole time, the fact that they're freezing is not touched upon.
* {{Expy}}: Sakura-SenseiChan resembles a grown-up version of [[Manga/{{Kon}} Ritsu Tainaka]], with the exact same hairstyle, hair color, and a ForeheadOfDoom.
* FanDisservice: Lemon Fried Chicken wearing a skirt in episode 8. Get the BrainBleach ready...
* FanService: Though it's usually not blatant, there are shots here and there, such as Maya's gravure poses. The [=OVAs=] include more, and the narrator [[LampshadeHanging lampshades]] this as it being on blu-ray instead of a normal television broadcast so they can get away with it.
* FailedASpotCheck: Momoka's teacher completely fails to notice Miou hiding behind Momoka while the latter "turns in" her club application in the first episode.
* TheFatEpisode: Momoka gets so obese after eating lots of buns in one week which her club members point out and call her fatty for it.
* FireForgedFriends: After Platy has a brief scuffle with a crab Miou bought, he's determined to keep the club from cooking it.
* FlashyProtagonistsBlandExtras: The five girls of the Survival Club have pink, blue or turquoise hair, while other characters have natural colours.
* TheFool: Sakura-sensei, the Survival Club's advisor. In her introduction in episode 3, she unwittingly burns herself, runs into a tree, then has a pack of stray dogs chasing after her. She later picks up the hornet nest that her club just knocked out of a tree, and then pokes it open.
* FreudianExcuse: The three photographers in episode 8. After Momoka subdues them with the help of Lemon Fried Chicken, they tell her about how they were mocked by others for their photography. But when they started posting PantyShot pictures, their popularity took off and they felt they could connect to others this way. Momoka rightfully beats them up for it, but she saves an old picture of wildflowers that one of them took and tells them they should return to that former passion.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Urara seems to be the least liked member of the Survival Game Club, mostly because of her unhealthy obsession towards Momoka overriding almost anything else she does normally.
* FuroScene:
** The aftermath of the match in the first episode. Of course, Momoka wonders just ''why'' would a shop like that even have a bath...
** Again at the end of episode 3, where Momoka now wonders about how utterly convenient it is to have a hot springs bath close to the school.
* GagSeries: The show doesn't take itself seriously at all. They constantly remind viewers of that as well.
* GatlingGood:
** Miou uses one in episode 7.
** Platy fires one from a helicopter in episode 12 to help Momoka and the others.
* GondorCallsForAid: Several of the characters that showed up in earlier episodes arrive in episode 12 to help the survival game club combat the government soldiers. Momoka wonders why they'd bother since she was rude or mean to many of them, but Miou says that they enjoyed spending time with her despite that.
* GoneHorriblyRight: After the sweets decoration girl misunderstands Momoka and puts various decorations on Miou's gun in episode 11, Momoka attempts to get them off. Unfortunately Miou catches her in the act, [[spoiler:but actually likes the customization, and has the other club members customize their guns similarly. While Momoka escapes Miou's wrath, she instead has to walk around town wearing said decorations, and gets very embarrassed by it when people around town wonder if they're advertising for a sweets shop.]]
* GoodAngelBadAngel: Momoka sees hers in episode 5 when she's contemplating selling a rare gun Miou says is worth a million yen. The good one tells her to return the gun to Miou, while the evil one says she should keep it, and sell it herself for the money. The good one then pulls a gun on the bad one, and a firefight ensues. [[spoiler:In the end, the good angel wins, but Momoka shoots her in the head, only to slip on one of the bad angel's feathers and hits her head on a rock. She then has a nightmare about being in hell and starts to spout random nonsense before Miou shoots her in the head to bring her back to reality.]]
* GoodIsNotNice: Momoka's good angel pulls a gun on her bad angel, and a firefight ensues. [[spoiler:After the good angel gets the upper hand, she shoots the bad angel in the head.]]
* {{Gonk}}:
** Lemon Fried Chicken, the overweight man that Momoka challenges to a video game in episode 4.
** The three creepy photographers who try to get a picture of Momoka's panties in episode 8.
* GracefulLoser: Lemon Fried Chicken, the fat otaku guy in episode 4. Though Momoka knocks him out to gain points in the light gun game unopposed, he seems ready to accept his punishment for losing. Oddly enough she doesn't mock him like she usually does to people she gets revenge on, and in fact views him as a WorthyOpponent, allowing him to take a couple of pictures with her in a photo booth, which was the condition if she lost.
* GratuitousEnglish:
** Lots of American military jargon, as well as casual things like Urara's "Nice idea!" in Episode 3A.
** Momoka's good angel pulls a gun on her bad angel, and says "Hold up and get out!" after the latter tries to tempt Momoka into selling the air gun Miou was looking for.
** Kayo's poem in episode 10 seems to be nothing but random English words.
* GunsAkimbo: Miou, Kayo, and Urara tend to dual wield guns.
* GunFu: Done by Kayo and Momoka in episode 2.
* GunPorn: Albeit with airsoft guns, but still counts due to the detail for the firearms used.
* {{Handguns}}: Of course!
* HarshWordImpact: Momoka is hit with these in episode 12 when Miou states reasons why she's a terrible person. But Miou also says spending time with Momoka was fun, hence why they put up with her.
* HeldBackInSchool: The reason why Miou can buy and walk around with model guns is mostly due to this, as she's old enough to apply for a license for the guns. The reason for being held back varies per media -- in the manga it's due to lack of credits, but in the anime it's implied it's mostly due to the crazy antics she gets involved in (meaning misconduct).
* HeroicSacrifice:
** Momoka deliberately invokes this trope on Lemon Fried Chicken in episode 9. She tells him to hit the helicopter with the semi they're riding in. After Lemon leaves the road, she immediately jumps out. Made more hilarious by Lemon's glasses falling near her afterward, which she picks up, then casually throws away.
** Urara does this in episode 12, staying outside the church after several of their friends get "killed". Shortly after she closes the door, she is heard screaming as she gets shot to "death".
* HeroKiller:
** PlayedForLaughs with Momoka, who has "killed" the other characters several times in their games. The fact that she's pretty ruthless, even going so far as to shoot a surrendering player, doesn't help.
** Momoka's mother manages to defeat her in episode 4 after the latter refused to eat her broccoli.
** The masked assailant that infiltrates the school in episode 7. The girls are completely unable to land even one hit on said person, while the assailant does various weird things to them, such as cutting Urara's long bangs, putting Maya in some gym clothing, and giving Kayo food to eat. Momoka runs away from the assailant, not wanting to suffer the same humiliations as the other girls, but doesn't make it very far. [[spoiler:Said assailant turns out to be Momoka's mother, who was simply fixing issues she saw with the girls, such as balancing Urara's bangs, putting Maya in more modest clothing, and giving Kayo food because she seemed like she wasn't eating enough. Hilariously her mother was attempting to avoid [[AmazinglyEmbarrassingParents humiliating her]], but it doesn't quite work out that way.]]
* HighPressureBlood: The blood that spurts out when the girls get hit. Said blood is simply [[DeepImmersionGaming their imagination]] as pointed out by the narrator in the first episode and throughout the show.
* HighPressureEmotion:
** Momoka turns red after her mother calls her "Mokarin" in episode 2 in front of Miou.
** Urara's face goes red after two girls return her bookbag she left on the fourth floor toilet stall. She had been trying really hard not to let anyone know she pooped and couldn't flush it due to the handle breaking.
* HoistByHerOwnPetard:
** Urara throws Momoka among the trash during episode 2 and claims she's nowhere to be found in the hopes Miou will let them train without her. Miou interprets this as Momoka wanting to practice ambush techniques.
** Momoka meant to humiliate and torture Maya with her TrainingFromHell regarding her dislike for natto, culminating with a bath in natto. Though it does make Maya hate natto even more, said bath makes her skin appear even better, and apparently also made her breasts appear even bigger, causing [[ACupAngst Momoka to feel like]] she still lost. As a result, she ends up having to do the commercial for Maya, which involved no natto eating, and causes her to now hate said food because of the benefits Maya unintentionally gained from it.
** Momoka once again meant to be cruel to Yammy in episode 10 after the latter gets fat due to being rejected by a guy she liked. However, her words of essentially living for herself and not worrying about others, which was meant to discourage the latter, actually cheered her up, and she thins down again, as well as knocks out the guy who rejected her after he says she's good enough for him now. Momoka inadvertently gains another obsessed fangirl, and ends up in a LoverTugOfWar with Yammy and Urara.
* HomefieldAdvantage: When Momoka fights her mother in episode 4, she wonders how the latter is so deadly. Her mother then pops up from inside the washer and executes a headshot on her while stating that a home is the housewife's battlefield.
* HumanShield: Momoka uses Urara to intercept an attack for her in episode 10 while training in the jungle. She does it again in episode 11 when Platy attacks them.
* HypocriticalHumor: This little gem from Miou in episode 3, after hearing about Rosalia's antics:
-->'''Miou:''' Nothing is worse than pointing a gun at someone! (followed by a scene of her doing that exact thing from episode 1)
** Roselia's grudge against Miou started when she hit a teddy bear at a shooting gallery, but the attendant said it did not qualify by the rules. Along came Miou who won the entire rack by those same rules. Roselia was overjoyed, until Miou declared she had won the bear with her own money and would keep it. This after having chastised the booth attendant for cheating the little girl out of her money.
** In episode 10, Momoka says the names of her fellow survival club members and says she avenged them all after she stops the attacker. The narrator immediately points out that she killed three of them, or at least was responsible for their deaths.
*** Immediately following this, the kitty planet survival club congratulates Momoka in defeating their opponent. They say that they fight fair and square, and that Momoka was ruthless and underhanded in her execution of their representative. She immediately kills them all, then calls them out for using even more underhanded methods like invisibility and sneak attacks.
* ImagineSpot: Urara has several in episode 5, thinking the worst if someone saw that she used the toilet and didn't flush it due to her breaking the handle accidentally.
* InsaneTrollLogic:
** In episode 9, after Kayo, Maya, and Urara get accidentally locked in the school pool and the heat is turned off for the night, all three of them start becoming delusional due to the cold. The narrator repeatedly states that their train of thought has been affected by hypothermia, such as Maya attempting to warm up the pool by throwing the radio in it, not realizing it would electrocute them.
** Despite the government asking for people with the rare illness in episode 12 to come to a quarantine area, Miou refuses to let them know about Momoka, and states that if they take her in, they would experiment on her, draw blood samples, and turn her into a living weapon. Unfortunately Sakura-sensei already called them, and government troops show up outside their clubhouse.
* InSeriesNickname: Momoka's mother calls her "Mokarin". Miou immediately uses this as BlackMail to get her to come to the morning practice, by calling her that repeatedly.
* InstantFanClub: Momoka is immediately surrounded by schoolgirls when she dresses up like a man in episode 7 thanks to Kayo's expertise in cosplaying.
* IWillOnlySlowYouDown: Momoka claims Kayo was doing this in episode 10 as the reason she was left behind. In reality, she offered Kayo a drink and told her to rest for a moment, only to then find that Momoka crossed the log across the ravine, then kicks it down after crossing it, leaving Kayo stranded.
* InstantBandages:
** Sakura-sensei has one on her forehead after she comes to the club room in episode 3.
** The bear Miou shoots sports one on its head too when it pops out of the bushes later in the same episode.
* InstantSedation: Via drugged melon bread. Used by Miou to get Momoka to join the club, as Momoka is against turning in the membership form herself. The solution? Knock Momoka out (via said spiked melon bread) and have Miou (in a black stagehand's garb) control the stunned Momoka to hand in the form.
* InteractiveNarrator: The characters know of the narrator (usually Momoka) and sometimes speak back, which is usually PlayedForLaughs. One example is in Episode 2's prologue when he abuses Momoka's EmbarrassingNickname during the PanUpToTheSkyEnding only for her to literally BreakTheFourthWall to get him to stop saying it.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Momoka tends to think about herself selfishly quite often. This usually does come back to bite her in the butt however.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Yammy was turned down by a man simply because he viewed her as overweight, leading to her actually becoming fat from stress-induced overeating while trying to slim down. While the rest of the club is sympathetic, Momoka crudely ridicules her for putting to much value in what others think of her, and insists on living for herself. The club members deride her for insensitivity, but Yammy takes it to heart and quickly loses the weight once she's not obsessed with meeting the man's standards (in fact, she punches him the next time they meet).
* KillItWithFire: The girl's solution to dealing with the hornets after Sakura-sensei stupidly breaks open their nest in episode 3. Unfortunately they burn down their clubhouse in the process.
* LargeHam: Momoka tends to react in this way to anything she finds unusual, especially with the way the survival club members act.
* LateForSchool: Mentioned by the narrator as something to make it clear to viewers that, yes, the series is serialized in a ''shoujo''-focused magazine, to the point where it's ''immediately'' followed by a CrashIntoHello... except not into a cute guy, but Miou in full-battle dress, complete with night warfare equipment.
* LemonyNarrator: Yes, the series has one, who is incredibly dry and snarky.
* LettingTheAirOutOfTheBand: The anime enjoys doing this, usually when something dramatic is about to happen and something happens that instantly brings the momentum to a halt.
* TheLoad:
** Sakura-sensei for the most part. She does some incredibly boneheaded moves, such as bringing the wasp nest the girls shot down with her, then cracking it open thinking there'd be honey inside of it. Instead a bunch of angry wasps attack them.
** Lemon Fried Chicken in episode 12. During the shootout, he uses an arcade shooter gun, which does absolutely nothing useful. Roselia even asks him about it, and he states this is all he is allowed to use.
* LosingYourHead: Urara very briefly in the ending. She's back to normal about a second later.
* LoveAtFirstPunch: Urara seems to have taken a liking to Momoka's attacks in episode 2 after the latter beats her up for the former's earlier attack during their stretching session.
* LoveMakesYouCrazy: Momoka finds this out the hard way in episode 7 after she pretends to be a man and shows too much affection to one girl while surrounded by fangirls. They immediately go into ClingyJealousGirl mode and chase after her, demanding the same treatment. And after they find out which room she's holed up in, the girls use a battering ram to break the door down.
* LoverTugOfWar: Momoka finds herself between Urara and Yammy in episode 10 after she inadvertently cheers up the latter and ends up helping her lose weight, when she actually meant to be cruel to her by insulting her for blaming herself when a guy rejected her LoveConfession.
* LoopholeAbuse:
** Miou is told that Momoka has to turn in the paperwork to join the Survival Game Club in order for her teacher to accept it. So she drugs Momoka, and carries her unconscious body while wearing a very obvious black robe, and has "her" give her teacher the enrollment paper. He then takes it, no questions asked.
** In a FlashBack in episode 3, Roselia hits a teddy bear and thinks she's won it. But the man running the game says it has to fall off the shelf for it to be a win. Miou then shows up, and shoots a loose bolt out, causing the entire shelf to collapse. She then claims she wins it all since he stated anything that fell off the shelf was their prize.
** Momoka falls behind the fat guy, Lemon Fried Chicken, in the arcade shooting game in episode 4 because he's clearly better at it than she is, particularly when he goes GunsAkimbo with both guns on his machine. She is unable to follow suit because she blew the rest of her money on other machines earlier. So she instead pulls out her airsoft gun, which Kayo comments that said gun won't work with the arcade. But Momoka uses it to PistolWhip the guy on the head to knock him out, so that she could gain points unopposed. Though she does win, she still [[ThrowTheDogABone allows him]] to take some pictures with her, which was the condition if he won.
** In episode 9, Momoka is scolded by a dog cafe owner who says non-dog pets aren't allowed inside. However, a sleeping dog accidentally triggers a fire hoop, and through its disgust for Momoka, Platy jumps over the fire, while the owner's dog wallows in fear from it. She tells Momoka perhaps they can allow any pet inside from that point on so long as the owner shares a strong bond with their pet. Miou then immediately enters the cafe while riding on top of a lion.
* MaamShock: When Momoka tells her mother that she's too old for letting Platy live with them due to CutenessProximity, her mother develops a BattleAura and asks her what she was referring to. Momoka then drops the subject.
* MeaningfulBackgroundEvent: A creepy looking monster can be seen first in Momoka's classroom, and then running around in the crowd when Momoka is meeting the other club members in town. No one seems to notice or care about it. It later turns out to be Kayo in a ghillie suit she made. Momoka does [[LampshadeHanging point out]] that the color defeats the purpose of the suit it since it's red instead of green and would stand out in a field.
* MegaTonPunch: Momoka uses one on Urara in episode 2 after unleashing RapidFireFisticuffs due to her showing up at the former's house uninvited.
* MenAreTheExpendableGender: Well, it's an old lady, but in episode 12, despite not fighting and just acting senile in a combat zone, she never gets hit. The elderly gentleman with her however, isn't protected and gets "killed" while the old lady is on screen with him.
* MexicanStandoff: Momoka and Kayo end up in one, leading Momoka to call it a tie. Kayo agrees, and lowers her weapon, whereupon Momoka immediately [[CombatPragmatist shoots her in the head]].
* MrExposition: The narrator will often explain things that occur in the show, such as what rappelling means, along with what a ghillie suit is.
* MsFanservice: Maya. Justified as she is a model as well, though a bikini top and short shorts probably isn't an ideal airsoft combat outfit.
* MistakenForGay: Yayoi, the student council president, in episode 5, with Miou due to her attempts to sabotage the latter and break her will. As a result, the girls around the school assume they're dating. Yayoi's protestations that they are enemies only makes her sound like a {{Tsundere}}.
* MoreDakka:
** Miou uses a [[GatlingGood minigun]] in episode 7. Despite how many shots she's firing, every single one of them misses her target, [[spoiler:who happens to be Momoka's mother.]]
** The elderly group the survival game club plays against in episode 9 utilize machine guns and a helicopter.
** Platy utilizes a gatling gun mounted on the side of a helicopter in episode 12 to help the survival game club combat the government troops.
* MundaneMadeAwesome:
** The airsofting games are played and visualized [[SeriousBusiness as if the guns are real]]. The narrator [[DiscussedTrope lets us know that this is the case]] and [[ViewersAreGoldfish reminds us in the next episode]].
** The shrine meditation the girls receive by a Buddhist monk. He seems calm and normal at first, but then pulls out a rather big stick and says they're receiving some special training, where he hits them with said stick if they lose concentration while meditating.
* NegativeContinuity: While there is some continuity, most of what happens has no consequences for the next story. One example is when the girls accidentally burn down their clubhouse trying to get rid of some hornets in episode 3; in the next scene, it's perfectly intact again.
* NewTransferStudent: Momoka. Given how her family has to transfer a lot due to her father's work, she's actually grown ''tired'' of it.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero:
** Momoka's TrainingFromHell for Maya regarding her dislike of natto in episode 2 ends up causing her to not do the commercial for natto, and the former ends up doing it instead. And said commercial didn't involve any actual natto eating, rendering said training pointless.
** In episode 5, Urara goes through great lengths to avoid letting anyone know she used the toilet after she accidentally breaks the handle. In the end, a helicopter rescue, a simple blanket stretched out to help catch her fail, and she decides she'd rather die from falling than to let anyone know she pooped. [[spoiler:She ends up saving herself by falling, then punching and kicking into the wall to break her fall slowly.]]
** Platy goes through great lengths to save a crab in episode 11. [[spoiler:Then the crab takes a bath with them at a bathhouse, and the heat from the water ends up cooking it, which was what the girls originally intended to do with it until Platy saved it. However, it shows up in episode 12, indicating it was okay.]]
** In the first part of episode 12, the girls hear about a new disease going around town and would need to be quarantined. Momoka has come down with said disease, and Miou is against handing her over lest the government perform a variety of tests on her. Unfortunately Sakura-sensei called them moments earlier, and a lot of government troops await outside their club house.
** Momoka says in episode 12 that she saw Urara looking at a teddy bear in a store display, but says it's too expensive to buy. Miou jumps in, telling her not to worry about the cost. Unfortunately for some reason she ordered a real bear instead of a teddy bear, which then goes about the town terrorizing people.
* NoFourthWall: While the fourth wall is liable to be broken at any time, it goes away entirely during the third OVA, with Momoka not just interrupting the narrator but pretty much conversing with him.
* OddFriendship: Momoka and Lemon Fried Chicken. Though not quite on always friendly terms, he is seen helping her and giving her advice, and for her part, she more or less tolerates him unlike when she's seen with other characters throughout the show. He also makes fairly regular appearances after his introduction in episode 4, compared to most of the others who are only seen in one or two episodes.
* OncePerEpisode: A bathing scene happens one way or another at the end of the episode.
* OneDialogueTwoConversations: Momoka visits a shop that decorates items with fake pastry in episode 11. When the clerk comes out, Momoka mentions the item she wants decorated is in her bag. While she was referring to her phone, the clerk instead grabs the airsoft pistol Miou gave her to give to the gunshop owner for maintenance. As they talk, Momoka is clearly referring to her phone, but the clerk takes it to be about the gun, not realising it's airsoft, and imagines her to be a Yakuza. It ends with a very sugary handgun and a very frightened clerk.
* OneGenderSchool: Aogiri Academy is girls-only.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: Miou is outgunned and unable to retaliate against Momoka and Kayo in episode 2 after they team up to take out Maya and Urara with little effort. She surrenders and drops her guns, but Momoka shoots her anyway.
* PetTheDog: Momoka, who is usually a JerkAss when it comes to fighting and competitions, ends up doing something nice for Lemon Fried Chicken, the fat otaku in the arcade. Though she cheats to win the arcade shooting game by smashing his head in with her gun to knock him out so she could get more points, she agrees to take some pictures of him because he was a good sport. However, she does come to regret it afterwards when she gets home.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Urara has the grip strength of an Eastern Lowland Gorilla, can descend a building by smashing hand- and footholds into it, regularly leaves craters in walls with her punches, and has a back strength of 600 kg.
* PistolWhipping: Momoka does this in episode 4 on the fat guy at the arcade.
* PottyFailure: Urara suffers this while she, Kayo, and Maya are locked in the school pool.
* PrettyFreeloaders: Invoked by Platy, who more or less ends up living at Momoka's house. It finally gets discussed in episode 4 when Momoka asks her mother about it, who then replies he's been there since her friends showed up. A couple of flashbacks then show he was indeed at her house for quite a while.
* ProductionThrowback: To ''Manga/YuruYuri'', another anime adaptation directed by Creator/MasahikoOhta:
** In episode 8, the way Maya's barrel rolls away and off a cliff is nearly identical to a similar scene with Akari from the season 1 finale.
** In the third OVA, during the girl's sleepover, Kayo's attire is identical to Kyoko's tomato pajamas.
* PsychoLesbian:
** Urara at first towards Miou. But after Momoka [[LoveAtFirstPunch beats her up]], she falls for the latter instead. She obsesses a bit too much about Momoka to the point that the latter constantly hits her any time she tries to put the moves on her.
** The girls who play a match against the survival club in episode 8. They seem rather professional at first in the match, knocking out the various girls until Maya is the only remaining member. They then immediately start breathing heavily while also suggesting rather perverted things towards her while also shooting as much of her clothing off as possible. Maya attempts to run away, but falls off a cliff into a barrel of hot water her other clubmates are using to take a bath in. Unfortunately for her, Maya's barrel becomes transparent, allowing everyone to see her naked body, and she attempts to get away from them while still inside of it.
* PuniPlush: It looks like ''Manga/KOn'' with guns.
* PuppyDogEyes:
** The animals in episode 7 use these to discourage the club from scaring them off with their guns.
** Used by an old lady in episode 9 during the survival game club match. After she runs out of bullets, Urara and Kayo have a clean shot at her. But she puts on a sad pathetic look on her face, and neither girl seems willing to shoot her. They are then taken out by the lady's allies who have no qualms shooting the girls. The old lady meanwhile, gets shot by Momoka who doesn't have the same sympathy as the other two.
* QuickDraw: Miou does this with an elderly man in episode 9. Both of them fire a shot, [[spoiler:and the old man "dies" first. Miou falls shortly after he does]].
* TheQuietOne: Kayo doesn't like to talk much, to say the least.
* RefugeInAudacity: When Momoka smashes Lemon Fried Chicken in the head in Episode 4, no one makes a move or calls her out on it. ''Lemon himself'' even accepts the subsequent defeat without protest.
* RefusalOfTheCall: Momoka is tricked into signing up for the Survival Game Club in the first episode and then refuses to actually join. She later ends up joining anyway after Miou drugs her and has "her turn in her club enrollment form" to her teacher. Never mind that she was passed out and Miou was carrying her body the entire time.
* RemovingTheRival: Urara beats the shit out of Momoka and tosses her into a pile of garbage in order to keep her from gaining Miou's favor. It's stated by the narrator that the reason the Survival Club has so few members is because Urara used similar methods to dispose of all of their past female applicants. Unfortunately that doesn't work, as it just causes Momoka to return the favor, after which Urara [[LoveAtFirstPunch fall for her]].
* ResetButton: Occasionally used, when the consequences are not simply ignored. At the beginning of episode 5, Miou says she will follow the way of the Buddha, including renouncing violence. During the episode, they go through TrainingFromHell under a sadistic monk, which Miou alone succeeds in. The monk then asks her to be the successor to the shrine due to her devotion. She says that she paid him two million to help with the paperwork and training. [[spoiler:Then a news report shows said monk was actually a con artist made the same promise to others. Miou smashes the tv, throws off the priestess outfit, and charges outside in her combat gear, likely to pay a visit to said priest.]]
* {{Revenge}}:
** Momoka's defining character trait. She always gets people back when they wrong her, quickly, violently, and often [[DisproportionateRetribution disproportionately]].
** Kayo swears this after Momoka leaves her behind by kicking a log across the ravine they were at down, so Kayo was unable to escape the invisible attacker. [[spoiler:She somehow survived, and then shoots Momoka in the head after she killed the kitty planet survival game club members, then takes the certificate they gave to Momoka congratulating her for defeating their representative.]]
* RomanticSpoonfeeding: Played with in the fifth OVA - Urara treats it like this while Momoka just wants to get rid of the food she doesn't want - even the aluminium foil!
* RoseHairedSweetie: Momoka and Urara (the former has a darker shade) both start off looking like they fit the associated personality types, but quickly {{Subvert|ed Trope}} them. See BitchInSheepsClothing above.
* RubeGoldbergDevice: And one made out of animals at that, in episode 3C.
* RuleOfCool: The actual survival game sections run on this. In fact, the narrator has to repeat that what the viewer sees isn't ''actually'' what's happening, and is really just the girls imagining themselves doing cool stuff.
* RunningGag:
** Each of the first three episodes opens with Momoka warning the viewer that the show doesn't actually contain any real death or violence, only for Miou to silence her (HandGagging, [[TapOnTheHead Karate chopping her in the neck]], ect.) and drag her away. And in episode 3, she simply shoots Momoka in the head.
** Maya is often the first one to "die" any time a battle occurs. The other girls will usually point this out when it happens. And when she does get killed, it's usually shots hitting her boobs.
* SchmuckBait:
** Momoka fails to notice the rope that eventually ties her feet up after she loses sight of Miou, and looks at a decrepit building for clues to her whereabouts. She also inadvertently signs up for the Survival Game Club when Miou claims her name is uncommon, and asks her to write it out on a sheet of paper for her. And later Miou gives her some bread, and Momoka gets knocked out by some drugs in it. The former then carries her unconscious body to her teacher to "turn in" the form herself to join the club, and he accepts it.
** In episode 11, after Platy desperately tries to save a crab from being cooked by the club, Momoka challenges the crab to rock-paper-scissors, offering to let Platy have his way if it wins. Platy immediately realizes the setup, as the crab's pincers can only form "scissors"... [[spoiler:only to be subverted when everyone simply throws out "paper" to let the crab win (except Momoka, who quickly hid her "rock" behind her back once she realized that she was alone on the trap).]]
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveMoney: At the student council meeting in episode 6, several of the club leaders for other clubs announce notable things that have happened with their club. Miou then tells the student council president a list of things such as property damage and warnings from the police. When the president inquires more into said problems, Miou states that she resolved all the issues by giving away lots of money.
* SecretlyWealthy:
** The narrator states Miou's family is rich, though she doesn't flaunt it around... too much anyway. Momoka does wonder why she called in a fleet of helicopters in episode 5 to rescue Urara after she gets stuck on a ledge on the fourth floor of the school.
** Urara is also hinted to come from a well off family, as seen in pictures in episode 12.
* SelfPlagiarism: The ending theme, "Pitti Patty Survibird", borrows liberally from an earlier work by composer Tomoya Kinoshita, "Shikakui Uchu de Matteru yo", one of the endings to ''Manga/{{Saki}}''.
* SenseiChan: The club's adviser, Sakura. She plays the part straight, being a caring but very clumsy teacher.
* SerialEscalation: The crow in episode 3. It doesn't look scared at all when Momoka fires some warning shots at it. The narrator then gives its backstory, saying it's a veteran who's survived numerous brushes in combat. The first picture is of a woman shooing it away with a broom. The next picture shows a hunting dog and hunter chasing after it. The third picture then shows it flying overhead as tanks do combat on the ground below.
* SeriousBusiness:
** Momoka's mother [[HilariouslyAbusiveChildhood pulls out a rather large handgun]] after Momoka refuses to eat her broccoli in episode 4.
** Urara breaking the toilet handle in episode 5, and then some girls innocently try to help her after hearing her scream and thinking she was hurt. She ends up sneaking out the window, but is now stuck on a very narrow ledge on the fourth floor. Momoka sees her, but only laughs, and then brings the other club members to laugh at Urara's trouble.
** The crazed fangirls who chase after Momoka after she accidentally provokes their jealousy by showing too much affection to one girl while she's disguised as a man in episode 7. They bring a battering ram to knock the door down in the room she was hiding in.
** The government troops are quite obsessed with capturing Momoka to put her in quarantine while she's sick. They end up having a gun battle with the survival game club in their attempt to capture her.
** The club pull out their guns over whether to keep the leaf on while eating sakuramochi in the fifth OVA.
* ShaggyDogStory:
** Episode 3A. The Survival Club take a job to rid the school grounds of a hive of Japanese Hornets in exchange for increased funding. They manage to do so, but at the end of the skit, their club house gets burned down, so whatever budget they might get will likely go to repairing the clubhouse anyway.
** In episode 7A, the club is moved to get some hunting licenses. The next few minutes show all of them studying hard on hunting aspects while the announcer goes over what the license test entails... and at the end they're told that they can't take the test until they're twenty.
* ShamingTheMob: Miou saves Momoka from her bullying classmates in the first episode by essentially calling them out on their harassment of the latter, asking them if it made them feel good to bully her that way. She then states that Momoka is the stronger person for having endured said bullying.
* ShoutOut:
** During the last episode of the anime a montage of characters on Christmas Eve has Santa using Deckard's blaster from ''Film/BladeRunner''.
** During gunfights, Kayo usually cosplays as Jill Valentine from ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil3Nemesis''.
** In episode 3 the entire club don cosplay outfits reminiscent of ''VideoGame/CallOfDuty'' characters, including one of Ghost from ''VideoGame/ModernWarfare 2''.
** Momoka initially imagines the Survival Game Club's supervisor as Creator/ChuckNorris.
** Miou uses spring-loaded magazines hidden up her sleeves to reload her guns, just like Preston John in ''Film/{{Equilibrium}}''.
** When a vision of Miou appears to give Momoka advice, [[Franchise/StarWars Momoka calls her "Ben" and she almost says "May the Force be with you."]]
** While the girls are at the arcade, Kayo can be seen holding a Franchise/KamenRider toy.
** While Momoka and Urara are surveilling Platy, he starts dancing while wearing a white hat and jacket.
--> '''Momoka & Urara:''' [[Music/MichaelJackson Michael!?]]
** Episode 5 has a blatant reference to ''Film/ApocalypseNow'', complete with a flight of Huey helicopters with Wagner's ''Flight of the Valkyries'' playing loudly in the background.
** In episode 6, after being released from the hospital, Yayoi wears the exact same hair style Homura from ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica'' had after getting out of the hospital.
** In episode 9, while doing a survival club game in Australia, Momoka wonders if Miou found some bandits riding repurposed vehicles akin to the ones seen in ''Film/MadMax''. While Miou was hoping for that, she ends up settling for some elderly people in her neighborhood. Nevertheless, they do play homage to the films (especially ''The Road Warrior'', and have an airsoft battle while simultaneously racing. A vehicle hits a helicopter as well, as seen in ''Film/LiveFreeOrDieHard''.
** The last third of episode 10 is one prolonged ''{{Film/Predator}}'' ShoutOut before ending with an additional ''{{Film/Aliens}}'' one as well.
** Episode 11 has a reference to ''{{Film/Alien}}'' as well, when a crab jumps onto Maya's face like a facehugger.
** The entire introduction of the government-employed survival gamers, complete with the car making a jump amidst a fireball, is a frame-by-frame reference to ''Series/SeibuKeisatsu''.
** The second OVA has the appearance of a being that looks suspiciously like [[WesternAnimation/PeterPan Tinker Bell]].
* ShowerScene: The end of episode 2.
* ShownTheirWork: While the show takes liberties with portraying airsoft gun battles as real ones, they do a surprising amount of research as well, such as explaining what a ghillie suit is, and even explaining that a gun should be cocked back after running out of bullets. The characters are also all shown having proper trigger discipline when not fighting, with their fingers resting straight along the side of the grip instead of curled inward.
** Episode 7 gives a very detailed explanation on the qualifications for a hunter's license, including that the girls [[SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome are too young to apply]] [[ShaggyDogStory in the first place.]]
* SickEpisode: Momoka comes down with a fever caused by a rare virus in episode 12. The government goes to great lengths in order to capture her to put her in quarantine.
* SpitTake: Momoka does one when she sees Maya in a very revealing outfit in the first episode at the gun shop.
* TheStarscream: PlayedForLaughs in episode 12. The vice president tells some government officials that Yayoi, the student council president, has the illness that's currently going around. Though she actually didn't have it, she's still taken away, with the vice president essentially saying she was taking over.
* StatusQuoIsGod: The narrator [[DiscussedTrope lets the audience know ahead of time]] that this will be the case and tells viewers [[DontLikeDontRead to stop watching if they don't like it]].
* StreisandEffect: In-universe example during episode 5. Urara goes through great lengths to avoid letting anyone know she pooped, including shooting at several rescue helicopters Miou summoned. [[spoiler:In the end she saves herself by punching into the wall to break her fall and then slowly climbing down, but the two girls who heard her scream earlier end up bringing her bag to her. They promise not to tell anyone, but Momoka overheard it anyway, and teases her about it for a week.]]
* StockShoujoBullyingTactics: Momoka suffers from them in the first episode. And then inflicts them back...tenfold.
* SuicideAsComedy: Done a couple of times by various characters, such as Momoka putting her gun to her head in episode 10 after she finds her embarrassing poem written when she was younger.
* SuperDeformed: The girls in the ending credits.
* SustainedMisunderstanding: Momoka and the clerk in the sweets decoration shop in episode 11. See OneDialogueTwoConversations for further details.
* TakenForGranite: Urara's reaction in episode 7 after Momoka tells her not to associate with her anymore, due to the former taking pictures of her while nude in the previous story, as well as stripping down and molesting her behind the bushes while the other members just helplessly watched.
* TakeOffYourClothes: Momoka is forced to do this in episode 7 to escape from a crowd of [[ClingyJealousGirl angry girls]] after she's unable to slip through the small window. After also getting some help from Kayo with some oil, she manages to sneak out. Meanwhile the girls who break into the room Momoka was hiding in see her clothes and a large oil spill, and assume Momoka's alter-ego was a fairy who melted away.
* TakeThatAudience: The previous show made by [[Creator/MasahikoOhta the director]], ''Manga/KotouraSan'', opened with [[DownerBeginning ten minutes of melodramatic angst]] before revealing itself to be a RomanticComedy. In this show, the narrator takes potshots at the audience for their reaction to ''Kotoura-San'''s beginning over scenes of Momoka dealing with StockShoujoBullyingTactics.
--> '''The Narrator''': Fear not. This is not a depressing anime. For crying out loud... The plot gets a little dark and everyone starts shouting that it's depressing. The mental weakness of young people these days is troubling.
* TeamPet: Platy, the club's yellow platypus-thing.
* TemptingFate: The two segments of episode 8 have an example of this:
** When Momoka takes a modeling gig, she mentions that it would be bad if someone she knew saw her. Lemon Fried Chicken, the fat otaku she played against in episode 4, then shows up.
** In the second half, after Momoka complains to Maya about the crazy photographers she ran into, the latter says there's no such thing as a bad fan. She quickly changes her mind after running into a group of fan girls obsessed with her, to the point of wanting to marry her and have children together.
* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill: Platy uses a rocket launcher against Momoka and Miou in episode 11. Made more hilarious by the fact that it was supplied by a store merchant that Platy seems to have some connections with.
* TheyKilledKennyAgain: The premise is that the survival games run on DeepImmersionGaming, and anyone being killed is really just playing along, justifying everyone getting killed every episode. However the longer the show goes on, the more implausible this becomes: bystanders play along, participants are not just shot by airsoft bu blown up or caught in vehicle collisions, ''aliens'' know how the game... It culminates in the first special episode, in which [[spoiler:Urara seemingly gets eaten by sharks, complete with a skull bobbing out of the water, and even the narrator seems unsure what is happening.]]
* TheyWouldCutYouUp: Miou tells Momoka in episode 12 that her disease would cause her to be confined and studied (though it is not clear why).
* ThreeShorts: The format the show follows, with three skits per twenty-two minute episode, à la ''Manga/SquidGirl''.
* TiredOfRunning: In episode 10, as the girls slowly get picked off by an invisible attacker, Miou says she's had enough running, so makes a LastStand in order to fight their attacker.
* TitleDrop: Sabagebu is the Japanese shorthanded name for the Survival Game Club.
* TooKinkyToTorture: Urara falls in love with Momoka after Momoka violently kicks her ass. She seems to enjoy being overpowered and smacked around by her.
* [[ToothyBird Toothy Platypus]]: Platy, who often shows teeth when grinning.
* TrainingFromHell:
** Maya receives some from Momoka to help her overcome her dislike of natto in episode 2.
** The girls receive some from a zen buddhist monk in episode 5 to help them focus and be more disciplined. As a result, while they're meditating, if the monk catches them doing anything other than meditation, such as sleeping, he whacks them pretty hard with a stick. Only Miou seems to be unaffected, causing Momoka to get a little jealous at the lack of physical pain she's had to suffer. The monk also tries to distract her, but nothing they do breaks her concentration.
** Momoka receives some advice on how to walk in high heels from Lemon Fried Chicken, of all people, in episode 11. He sets up a trail of dog droppings represented by strawberries, and puts a glass of water over her head, and tells her not to step on any strawberries or spill any water. Since Momoka is not used to wearing high heels, she has a lot of trouble balancing in them. When she thinks that it's too hard, she turns around to yell at him, only to find he's able to avoid the strawberries, as well as balancing several glasses of water on his head at the same time.
** The girls go through a water obstacle course in the first OVA which ends up being like this due to how difficult Miou made it, especially by including sharks.
* TrainingMontage: Several times, like in the second episode's "Mental Training", when Momoka and Urara help Maya with natto eating.
* TransformationSequence: Kind of, there is stock footage used several times before a fight where each girl takes out her weapon in a dynamic and dramatic fashion, ending with an AsskickingPose. Unlike a LockAndLoadMontage, each takes only one weapon and is merely taking it in hand instead of preparing them.
* TrickedIntoSigning: The club president of titular [[{{UsefulNotes/Airsoft}} airsoft club]] catches Momoka off-guard after a spurred-on match by [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_name#Characters asking her name, then calling it a pretty unusual one and then asking to write it down]] on ''this'' piece of paper, here you go. Too late to realize it was a club application form, Momoka is allowed a respite since to join she would have to hand the application in person. Then again, a not quite conscious person knocked out by a spiked melon bun, as it turns out, works.
* TrueCompanions: In episode 12, a sick Momoka wonders why everyone is going to great lengths to protect her despite having been mean or rude to them. Miou gives her a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech, with several HarshWordImpact hitting Momoka as Miou states bad things about her. But she also says that spending time with Momoka has also been incredibly fun, and they enjoyed their time with her, hence why they're protecting her.
* UnknownRival:
** Roselia to Miou. Justified as the FlashBack in episode 3 shows why she hates Miou, while the latter [[ButForMeItWasTuesday doesn't remember it]]. See the second entry for LoopholeAbuse for the explanation.
** The student council president, Yayoi, is this to Miou as well. She hates how the latter always seems to be goofing around, but is much more popular than her, and always seems to be subverting her. For her part, Miou is simply acting the way she normally does, and keeps coming to help Yayoi out such as when the latter is continually fails to win the other survival club members over to her side.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: It takes a while for anyone to comment on the presence of a bipedal yellow platypus walking about the clubroom, and later ''Momoka's home''. Even among the wackiness, it stands out.
* WeComeInPeaceShootToKill: Inverted example in episode 10. The alien survival game club congratulates Momoka when she defeats their representative during a game in the jungle. As they're talking to her, she immediately shoots them all in the head.
* WeightWoe:
** Momoka becomes incredibly obese in one skit during episode 4 due to eating too much. Though she does drop it, her mother makes a lot of sweets for her, and she immediately puts it back on. Her mother then confesses that she just wanted to see tubby Momoka again. Though Miou helps her lose weight via survival game training, a scene cuts to her mother making even more sweets.
** In episode 10, Yammy, an idol friend of Maya's who's grown rather big, hides out in the survival club's room after hearing that Momoka also lost weight due to the training regimen she was put through. Momoka shoots Maya for suggesting that and bringing up what happened to her back in episode 4.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes:
** Maya reveals in episode 2 that she has a dislike for natto (fermented soybeans), due to how sticky and smelly it is. However due to Momoka's "training", it turns into an ''outright fear''.
** Momoka hates praying mantises more than anything else, as the narrator tells us in episode 2 after one lands in front of her while she's hiding, and manages to say "Good morning" to her.
* WorldOfHam: The characters tend to overact and overreact to just about everything that happens.
* WorthyOpponent:
** Momoka feels this way about the fat otaku guy in episode 4 during their match in the light gun arcade game despite cheating to win, and even agrees to take some pictures with him in a photo booth as proof they battled. However, she does immediately regrets it when she gets home.
** Platy and the crab in episode 11. They have a brief fight when it turns out to still be alive, and later Platy goes through a lot of trouble, including shooting at the girls, to save its life when the girls intended to cook it. [[spoiler:Then the crab joins them in the hotsprings, and it ends up cooking the crab due to the heated water.]]
* WouldHurtAChild: If you think being younger than Momoka will protect you from her wrath, you'd be ''very'' wrong. See how she mercilessly guns down Roselia's companions in episode 3C.
* WrestlerInAllOfUs: During the "stretching session" between Urara and Momoka in the second episode. It starts out as Urara doing wrestling moves on Momoka at first, then immediately turns into an actual ring with spectators and the two girls in wrestling outfits. Momoka returns the favor shortly afterwards.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: Momoka in episode 12, when she wonders why several of the characters seen throughout the show are helping her, despite her being rude to most of them. While Miou gives her a BrutalHonesty speech, she also says that being around her has made her life much more fun and interesting. The other characters agree.
