5	It tells the story of Tsumugi "Mugi" Motohashi, a chubby high school girl who unexpectedly finds herself as the target of the affections of her school's most handsome underclassman, Tagami Yukiya, a self proclaimed "chubby maniac." The series focuses on their relation as a tall skinny guy dating a short chubby girl.

He also happens to be a self trained narcoleptic, enjoys eating bird seed and letting doves perch on his body, wrote a full musical score with lyrics based on Akane's stomach grumbles and kept count on how many time Akane went to the bathroom due to drinking too much water.
29	* ExtremeDoormat: Mugi's biggest flaw is that she's to nice and doesn't stand up for herself very often. Something she's trying to improve.
30	* FaceOfAThug: Hiyama is nice and clumsy person but his knitted brows and brash personality makes every girl but Mugi scared of him.
31	* FatAndProud: Mugi is perfectly happy with her body and if other characters comment or insult about it, she never gets offended. It was this trait, being both fat ''and'' proud, that attracted Tagami to her in particular.
32	* FormerlyFat: {{Downplayed\|Trope}}. After Mugi and Tagami help Akane Itou with her diet and weight loss regiment, she loses a noticeable amount of weight, but she's still on the pudgy side and only slightly thinner than Mugi.
33	* FreudianExcuse: Tagami discover his preference for chubby girls after an incident in middle school where a chubby girl tripped on the stairs and fell on top of him.
34	* HeavySleeper: Oonishi Daigorou has trained himself to wake and fall asleep at the sound of the school bell beginning and ending class.

38	* JerkassHasAPoint: While normally just socially awkward, Tagami is very blunt when he tells Akane she's "hopeless" because of how she still obsesses over her WeightWoe. Mugi calls him out later, agreeing that he had a point but also that he said it in the worst way possible and genuinely hurt Akane.
39	* LivingEmotionalCrutch: Akane realized that Mugi was one for her and decided to start dieting and working out alone in order to become more independent.

41	* NoSocialSkills: Tagami has very little tact when it comes to dealing with others. He's first seen trying to squeeze and hug Mugi before even introducing himself to her. His lack social skills is mostly PlayedForLaughs, at least until his harsh criticism of Akane for her lack of self confidence, which earned him a rebuke from Mugi.
42	* NothingButSkinAndBones: Tagami becomes malnourished comically fast when he diets and exercises along Mugi and Akane. Luckily, he also regains weight as fast.
43	* TheUnsmile: The normally cheerful Mugi drops one on Tagami over his treatment of Akane. We don't see it, but Tagami and Mami are suitably horrified by it.

45	** Averted and subverted. Before the series began, Mugi was picked on because of her weight as a child. She tried to lose weight, but couldn't and fell into a depression because she believe no one would ever love her. She then decided if no one would like her then she should at least like herself. Furthermore, her friends and family made it clear that they all cared deeply for her. So by the time the series began, she was happy and comfortable with her weight. Since then the only time Mugi has been shown to worry about weight on-screen is when she gained enough to start literally bursting out of her clothes.
46	** Akane Itou is a straighter case, as she's in much the same position that Mugi was but has yet to come to Mugi's own "Love Yourself" epiphany. Mugi has since taken Akane under her wing, intending to help her friend become comfortable in her own skin.
47	* WhenSheSmiles: Mugi used to be miserable because she couldn't lose weight, but once she became happy with her body she began to smile often. Many characters describe Mugi's smile as her strongest and most confident trait.
48	* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: Yuri is distraught after failing to win Tagami's heart until Mami comes and tells her that with all the effort she put into her appearance to win Tagami other men will be sure fall for her. Mugi later offers much the same encouragement to Akane, who is caught up in the same Weight Woes that once plagued Mugi.
