->'''Shido:''' D-Darling?! What are you...? I thought you hated men!\
'''Miku:''' You're special, Darling.
-->-- ''Literature/DateALive''

Someone is mostly straight or gay, with ''one'' exception.

A romantic rationalization that removes (or tries to remove) potential {{squick}} from a non-standard attraction (BrotherSisterIncest, MayflyDecemberRomance, homosexual for an otherwise heterosexual character or vice versa, etc.) often uses this phrase. Since the character (usually) [[LampshadeHanging acknowledges the unusualness of the potential pairing]], the writer gets to assure the audience ''they'' shouldn't have a problem with it either and to minimize the deviation from {{canon}} characterization. If they don't feel like explicitly naming themselves, this might be one outcome or implication of the BisexualLoveTriangle.

The examples presented here can often be placed in three categories:

* '''Sole Exception''': The character in question has a one-off attraction to that person that transcends their sexual preference, based on mutual compatibility or otherwise emotional attraction.
* '''Even the Gays/Straights Want Them''': The target of attraction is presented as being [[SoBeautifulItsACurse physically attractive enough]] [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer to transcend]] the [[EvenTheGuysWantHim sexual preferences]] of people, not just the attracted character.
* '''ClosetKey''': The exception gradually becomes the rule for that character (this not being a subversion as such as the trope applies at the beginning of the relationship and is seen as responsible for the gradual reveal of the character's sexuality/gradual transition of their gender preference. Examples of this should go on ClosetKey.

This is often an implicit assumption in some works that pairs characters that are generally portrayed as heterosexual (or homosexual -- and/or related). When it's made explicit, it's usually referred to as "We're Not Gay We Just Love Each Other" (WNGWJLEO) in ficdom, where it's often criticized for its homophobia. As such, it's now an almost thoroughly DiscreditedTrope in SlashFic.

Since it often preludes [[RelationshipUpgrade a first kiss or actual sex]], it's extremely common with [[{{Moe}} "pure"]] characters who the writers are otherwise hesitant to show having an explicit interest in sexuality.

This trope can be diametrically opposed to NoBisexuals, which assumes that a given character can only be either heterosexual or homosexual with no exceptions; or cut down in the middle 50/50 in terms of attraction. Alternatively it could be an ''example'' of NoBisexuals if all characters experiencing attraction to multiple genders define themselves as homosexuals or heterosexuals with exceptions without acknowledging bisexuality as a possible option.

A likely requirement for any non-bisexual person in a relationship with someone who then experiences a GenderBender. Or the main character of a DatingSim. In the case of a homosexual pairing, it can result in a limited form of LastHetRomance if the relationship sticks.

In settings resembling RealLife, this trope is only about heterosexuality and homosexuality. In fantasy and Sci-Fi settings, it can also be about variables that don't exist in real life, such as a person only being attracted to elves but making an exception for one very special human.

Compare SingleTargetSexuality, EvenTheGuysWantHim, EvenTheGirlsWantHer, StupidSexyFlanders. May overlap with ScrewYourself, NowAllowedToHug, and AlcoholInducedBisexuality. Compare and contrast SituationalSexuality, AmbiguouslyBi, GayRomanticPhase, JumpingTheGenderBarrier, EspeciallyZoidberg.

* This is the origin of the term "GAR", originally a misspelling of "GAY (for X)".
** GAR originated on 4chan's board. A poster was describing his feelings towards the ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'' character Archer, and mistyped "gay" as "gar". In fact, Archer is the main embodiment of GAR with lots of straight guys on the board proclaiming that they are GAR for Archer. Another character that is hugely popular in this respect and has been for around 30 years now ever since his first appearance is [[FountainOfExpies Char Aznable]] from the ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam'' series.
*** The term has since been refined to refer to characters who are so incomprehensibly manly (Archer from ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'', ''every male character'' (except Leeron) from ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann'', Lockon Stratos from ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam00'', Big Boss from ''VideoGame/MetalGear'') that your own manliness is ''buried'', leaving you naught but a whimpering, swooning child, begging to be graced with their presence.
* ''Manga/The100GirlfriendsWhoReallyReallyReallyReallyReallyLoveYou'': Momiji normally only prefers to massage girls. After falling in love with Rentarou, she decides that his body is just as pleasant to work on as a girl's, making him the sole exception to her rule.
* ''Manga/{{Adekan}}'': Wakabayashi says he considers himself straight but admits he has made Shiro his imaginary sex slave, naked and complete with collar. Several other [[EvenTheGuysWantHim guys]] feel this way toward Shiro as well. In particular, Kojiro and Shiro are implied to feel this way towards each other given the amount of HoYay they throw around while simultaneously liking woman and denying being gay.
* Upon Sou's and Mashiro's first meeting in ''Manga/AfterSchoolNightmare'' Sou thinks of Mashiro as a cute girl -- despite Mashiro's act as a normal man. Sou is, however, not troubled by his attraction to Mashiro. Of course, Mashiro is not necessarily a man nor a woman.
* In ''Anime/AquarionEvol'', after [[spoiler:Mix is captured she's both brainwashed by the enemy and also Gender Bent into a male (because the enemy planet has an effect that causes all life on it to be male).]] In the final episodes she's finally saved and gets her memories back, thanks to Andy, who was starting to develop feelings for her that she didn't quite believe prior to this, but it looks like they can't reverse the changes to her body. Andy says he'll still love her anyway, even if she's going to remain male forever, which convinces her his feelings are genuine. Though it turns out to be unnecessary in the end because they do in fact manage to return her to normal.
* In ''Manga/AttackOnTitan'', while Armin is disguised as a woman, he is kidnapped and molested by one of his captors. When the kidnappers are defeated and find out Armin is a boy, his tormentor taunts him by saying Armin is so pretty that even though he is straight, he wants to have sex with him until Jean gags him.
* ''Manga/AyakashiTriangle'': Suzu had a budding ChildhoodFriendRomance with Matsuri, and after [[GenderBender he is turned female]], Suzu is surprised to find she's also attracted to his current form. However, Suzu [[{{Gayngst}} is uncomfortable being attracted to another girl]] even in this circumstance, so she decides to [[ClosetBi bury her feelings]] and focus on changing Matsuri back. Though in the meantime, she's not above [[SecretlyGayActivity indulging in the closeness]] Matsuri will allow as her [[GenderBenderFriendship "girl friend"]]. [[DramaticIrony Ironically]], Matsuri doesn't catch on, and assumes he really ''can't'' be anything more than her friend unless he changes back. Later on, Suzu at least tells herself she'd love Matsuri, even if he started seeing himself as a girl and didn't want to change back. She just finds Matsuri ''much more'' attractive as a guy. [[spoiler:Eventually, Suzu is completely fine with dating, marrying, and even ''aggressively propositioning'' Matsuri when they're both female, it's only Matsuri that wants to wait until he changes back. In the SeriesFauxnale, Suzu [[LoveEpiphany realizes]] that she's fallen in love with Matsuri '''as''' a girl.]]
* ''Literature/BakaAndTestSummonTheBeasts'':
** Akihisa Yoshii thinks that homosexuality is wrong, but is openly infatuated with his [[DudeLooksLikeALady effeminate]] classmate Hideyoshi (which includes buying fanservicey pictures of him and getting a nosebleed from seeing him topless). How Akihisa reconciles this varies by version: In the light novels, he's acknowledged Hideyoshi as male, but elects to mostly treat him as if he was female. In the anime, Akihisa flat-out [[IRejectYourReality tells himself that Hideyoshi is a girl and ignores all evidence and protests to the contrary]].
** A oneshot in the light novels has all the cast but Mizuki [[GenderBender change sex]], whereupon she almost immediately decides she likes girl Akihisa just as much (and almost seems more vocal about it than normal). The event was AllJustADream, but [[MaybeMagicMaybeMundane may have been caused by magic based on her actual thoughts]]. Either way, Mizuki rather likes seeing Akihisa dressed up like a girl, so it's not tremendously surprising.
* Kanbaru of ''Literature/{{Bakemonogatari}}'' is a self-proclaimed lesbian with a crush on Hitagi. However, she also once told Koyomi that if he didn't already have Hitagi she'd totally date him. She once [[AttemptedRape assaulted him]] as well. How much of this is sincere and how much of this is her trolling him is up to the viewer.
* ''Manga/{{Berserk}}'':
** Guts is of the apparently-asexual variety. Due to being raped as a child, he HatesBeingTouched, but eventually, Casca is able to change his mind [[SingleTargetSexuality as applies to her]]. In some translations, he even [[InvokedTrope invokes]] the trope name word-for-word.
** Guts's relationship with Griffith (during the Golden Age arc, anyway) is also somewhat open to interpretation. He's far closer to Griffith than anyone else (barring Casca), male or female. And there was that whole scene where he stumbled on Griffith bathing...
* ''Manga/BetrayalKnowsMyName'':
** Tsubaki flirts with Yuki and fawns over him saying she DoesNotLikeMen and considers girls to be cuter. However, she says Yuki is the exception. It helps that she knows Yuki was a girl in his past life.
** Luka was originally together with Yuki back when he was a female and now that he's been reincarnated as a male he seems to still hold intense feelings for him.
** Sairi claims that he's not into boys. However, he does admit that he has always loved Yuki when he was a female, and still does now that he is a male.
* Hinako from ''Manga/BitterVirgin'', traumatized by [[spoiler:years of sexual abuse]], she only ever allows Daisuke to get close to her, as he doesn't think of her "as a woman". At least, that's what she thinks.
* Lau from ''Manga/BlackButler'' is a HandsomeLech who mainly has Ran Mao around as eye-candy and to sit on his lap but appears to be IfItsYouItsOkay towards Ciel if his occasional attempts at flirting with him are of any indication.
* Riko Hakozaki from ''Manga/BloomIntoYou'' is currently in a relationship with Miyako Kodama, despite claiming she doesn't have much interest in women otherwise.
* This is played straight and subverted in ''Manga/BokuNoFutatsuNoTsubasa'' where two people are okay with [[spoiler:Mako-chan's hermaphrodite status]] while one other says they're okay with it but when it came down to the sex they couldn't do it.
* ''Manga/BokuraNoHentai'':
** Subverted with Osamu "Parou" Tamura, who has feelings for an upperclassman at his school but the object of his affection isn't attracted to other boys. Parou begins dressing up as a girl to please him but the boy only uses him for sex, doesn't want to be seen with him, and is generally abusive.
** Played straight with Mai. Marika is the only male she doesn't dislike because she is so feminine. She doesn't know it but Marika is secretly trans. When Marika begins living as a girl, Mai still likes her. Marika [[IncompatibleOrientation is straight though]] so she doesn't have a chance.
* The Daihasei Festival arc in ''Manga/ACertainScientificRailgun'' implies Kuroko's obsession with Mikoto comes despite having no other interests in girls. With her memories removed of Mikoto, Kuroko doesn't even seem interested in her at all at first. After interacting with her again, and having physical contact, she starts feeling attracted to her again, but can't figure out why because she insists that her tastes don't run that way.
* ''Manga/{{Claudine}}'': When Claude explains to Sirène that he's a trans man, she takes it in stride.
* ''Manga/DestinyOfTheShrineMaiden'': Himeko more or less says this literally to Chikane near the end of the anime. Could also be a case of SingleTargetSexuality.
* ''Manga/DGrayMan'':
** This is probably Kanda's attitude towards Alma Karma after he learns the truth about him.
** Also, Cyril clearly likes the ladies but he is also obsessed with Tyki and even flirts with him a couple of times.
* ''Manga/DoushitemoFuretakunai'': Deconstructed. Shima is a gay man recently out of an abusive relationship with a guy that hated the fact he was gay and took it out on him. Already in a bad state of mind, he starts a relationship with his boss, Togawa, who up until that point was only attracted to women and even after being with Shima, his attraction to men is limited to him. Due to this tense situation, Shima convinces himself that Togawa is not ''really'' attracted to him and is just experimenting with a man before eventually dumping him. [[spoiler:Reconstructed in the end, when Shima decides that even if Togawa is to someday leave him and go back to only dating women, he still wants to be with him, and the two start a steady LongDistanceRelationship.]]
* Rikuo literally says this to Kazuhaya in chapter 14 of ''Manga/DrugAndDrop''.
* Zigzagged with Ryo in ''Manga/{{FAKE}}'', the one you'd ''expect'' to fit this trope, as he starts the series ''insisting'' that he's straight, as opposed to Dee's open declarations of bisexuality. By the end, though, Ryo thinks of himself as a gay guy [[NoBisexuals even though he has loved at least one girl in the past]].
* Kento of ''Manga/FutureLovers'', before meeting Akira, had his heart set on starting a family with a housewife. In fact, this is one of the main reasons Akira is initially reluctant to pursue a relationship with Kento because he fears that Kento will eventually leave him for a woman who can actually give him a family, but Kento repeatedly assures him that he'll be happy so long as Akira is with him.
* ''Literature/{{Gate}}'' has Tuka Luna Marceau, a High Elf who is canonically a lesbian, but is attracted to Youji Itami, the JSDF soldier [[RescueRomance who saved her life]]. Itami is the only male she is attracted to.
* Hiro says something along these lines to Shuichi near the beginning of ''Manga/{{Gravitation}}'', although it doesn't go anywhere because Hiro's the UnluckyChildhoodFriend.
* Uttered at the end of ''Anime/DotHackSign'', the [[AllThereInTheManual novel ".hack//ZERO"]] indicates that [[spoiler:Tsukasa and Subaru]] do in fact date.
** And apparently living together in .hack//LINK {{manga}}, 10 years later. [[spoiler: Tsukasa tells Tokkio that "he" might just go home in the middle of their adventure, so ''she'' can be with Subaru.]] This line was, btw, [[HideYourLesbians dropped in the "official" translation.]]
* ''Literature/HalfPrince'': Gui's side story reveals that he feels this way about Prince, Feng Lan's male avatar in a game world that doesn't usually allow {{Cross Player}}s. In a slight subversion, he just rolls with the idea that he might be gay and declares that he'll love Prince no matter what sort of person 'he' is in real life.
* Iwaki Kyousuke and Katou Youji of ''Manga/HaruWoDaiteita'' love each other and no other guys.
* ''Manga/HayateTheCombatButler'':
** Kotetsu is given a lecture by Nagi after [[UnsettlingGenderReveal finding out]] the cute girl he met is [[AttractiveBentGender Hayate in drag]], after which he's fine lusting after Hayate regardless. Hayate is '''[[AbhorrentAdmirer not happy]]''' about it.
** Luca believes Hayate is a girl because he's been cross-dressed in every encounter with her yet. She also states that she'd already have fallen for him if he were a guy, suggesting she's open to a relationship even if she doesn't find out.
* Chizuru from the ''Hen'' manga has never been in love in her life, using her body mostly to gain favors from men. She also views having sex with girls as icky -- until she falls head-over-heels for innocent, cute Yamada, which turns her world upside down on several levels. After a reality check, Chizuru decides to pursue her love interest with abandon. Poor Yamada never knew what hit her.
** And it's made explicitly clear that Yamada is the ''only'' girl who makes her feel that way. Her attempts to imagine sleeping with other girls do nothing but {{squick}} her out.
* In ''HEN: Suzuki and Satō'', a straight young man becomes besotted with another guy, Yūki Sato, and is convinced his bishōnen love is a girl trapped in a boy's body.
* ''Webcomic/HetaliaAxisPowers'': Sweden could be interpreted as either making an exception for Finland or [[SingleTargetSexuality "Finn-sexual".]]
* Yuuto Kiba from ''Literature/HighSchoolDxD'' is this to and somewhat returned to by Issei, although this is all just implied by the almost harem genre of this and Issei not realizing how much he gets the girls, and EvenTheGuysWantHim.
* In ''Manga/HonooNoAlpenRose'', [[spoiler: Jeudi has to crossdress to go to Austria unnoticed, calling herself Julian. She does it so well that two girls find her boy self "handsome", and Liesle is quite infatuated with "him" too. (And she may have stayed infatuated ''after'' finding out).]]
* ''Manga/HontoYajuu'': When pansexual Aki expresses (very unfounded) concern that his boyfriend will leave him for a high schooler, Tomoharu insists that he has no cause to worry because he doesn't like men. When Aki point out that Tomoharu is dating him, he responds with, "well, that's because you're special." Aki seems happy with this response.
* ''Literature/ImInLoveWithTheVillainess'': Averted and discussed. This trope may be popular in stories, but the characters personally believe that anyone with this attitude is a closeted bisexual -- after all, without matching sexual orientations, a relationship just can't really work.
* In ''Manga/{{Jormungand}}'', this is Valmet's attitude towards her boss, Koko. In fact, Valmet has a huge (mostly one-sided) crush on Koko, although Koko keeps it (mostly) professional (much to Valmet's chagrin).
* Miyagi in ''Manga/JunjouRomantica'' is in his thirties, and has apparently been rather straight all his life. That is... until Shinobu shows up. Then he's suddenly gay.
* ''Manga/LoveMode'''s Shakashita Izumi'a feelings for Takamiya.
* ''Manga/LoveStage'': Stated word for word by Izumi. Ryouma develops feelings for Izumi even after finding out Izumi's true gender. Also, there were a couple of thugs that tried to assault Izumi when they found out he was a very good looking boy, with them considering making an exception for Izumi.
* Used in a series of one-shots in a [[YuriGenre Yuri]] anthology called ''Mermaid Line'', when her boyfriend decides to [[UsefulNotes/{{Transgender}} transition into a girl]]. Ayumi even says she never thought a girl was cute before.
* ''Literature/MyNextLifeAsAVillainessAllRoutesLeadToDoom'': Once Alan realizes his feelings for Katarina, he approaches Mary about possibly breaking off their engagement since he doesn't consider it fair to Mary. Mary turns down the offer however because while she also clearly has feelings for Katarina, she still considers Alan the best choice of fiancee for herself if she's not able to win her over.
* An odd case in the ''Manga/MyOtome'' manga: Erstin is in love with Nina, and [[DoesNotLikeMen spazzes out whenever she even gets]]'' [[DoesNotLikeMen close]]'' to a man. Later in the series, she falls for a ''second'' girl, Mashiro (whom she initially disliked for monopolizing Nina's attention)… only to [[UnsettlingGenderReveal discover that "Mashiro" isn't that kind of woman]]. A few panels of Ers freaking out over Mashiro occurs, but she decides pretty quickly that she's willing to at least ''try'' to work past that whole 'male' thing.
** The same goes for ''Nagi''! in the same series, he doesn't care when he discovers the truth. No, really.
* ''Literature/MyYouthRomanticComedyIsWrongAsIExpected'': Hachiman is generally heterosexual despite not having the guts or motivation to do anything; however, he can't stop himself from leaning a little around Totsuka. Of course, few guys can, since Totsuka's the cutest girl in the school (or would be if he was a girl).
* Nana Komatsu of ''Manga/{{NANA}}'' is implied to be this for [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer Nana Osaki]]. She has a very HomoeroticSubtext ridden relationship with her but is otherwise straight.
* In ''Manga/NatsumesBookOfFriends'', the almost-certainly lesbian Hinoe ''[[DoesNotLikeMen hates ]]''[[DoesNotLikeMen guys]]. The only problem is that one of these pesky guys, Takashi Natsume, [[IdenticalGrandson inconveniently looks almost exactly like her long-dead]] ([[DudeLooksLikeALady female]]) crush Reiko Natsume, and [[StupidSexyFlanders it's making her uncomfortable]]. She eventually deals with it by simply ignoring the fact that Takashi's male, which is quite easy for her to do since youkai generally have little sense of gender.
* In ''Manga/NegimaMagisterNegiMagi'', Setsuna admits that she finds Negi cute and is attracted to his teenage form. However, she makes it clear at the same time that mild attraction is as far as it goes. She's [[HideYourLesbians strongly implied to be a lesbian]] and is [[BodyguardCrush paired off with Konoka]] while expressing some attraction towards her best friend Asuna. Nodoka is firmly in the Negi camp but her subconscious says that she wants to share him with her best friend, Yue. [[spoiler: [[Manga/UQHolder The sequel]] reveals that Yue also feels the same way. By the epilogue of UQ Holder, it’s implied that Setsuna ultimately decides to let Negi be the exception to her rule and has one of his children alongside Asuna, Konoka, Nodoka, Yue and Chisame.]]
* ''Manga/NoBra'' presents a variation of the trope, where Masato is -- while swimming in {{wangst}} -- having massive hots for Yuki, who is a [[AttractiveBentGender vivid cross-dresser]] who fools anyone into believing him to be a girl... [[AttractiveBentGender and a pretty hot one to boot]].
** Said crossdresser is probably an example himself. He's in love with "Maa-kun", his childhood buddy who he's liked and thought was Masato. [[spoiler:Turns out his friend was a {{Bifauxnen}} and is another character.]] Yuki does say he doesn't like men too, so he probably has a SingleTargetSexuality.
** This is probably more of a subversion than anything as Yuki seems to be more of pre-op [=MtF=] transexual than anything, rather than a crossdresser, and is specifically stated to "have the heart of a girl."
* Given an unusual twist in ''Literature/NyarukoCrawlingWithLove'', when the main characters Mahiro and Nyarko undergo a FreakyFridayFlip. Cuuko, who has [[StalkerWithACrush an obsessive lesbian crush]] on Nyarko, immediately tries to molest Mahiro; when he protests "This may be her body, but it's still my mind!", Cuuko responds "Just Nyarko's body is fine by me." Later on the trope is played straighter, when Cuuko ends up developing feelings for Mahiro because he's such a NiceGuy; when he questions this, she responds that [[{{OT3}} she's totally fine with the three of them getting married]], and wants to bear Nyarko's child [[MisterSeahorse while Mahiro bears hers]].
* [[ThePigPen Fujou]] from ''Manga/Oddman11'' explicitly says that she's not a lesbian and that her relationship with Setsu, as one-sided as it is, is a special case. While we never see her interacting with men, she must consider herself heterosexual, since it's been stated that every female oddman has dated (or is dating) TheOneGuy, and doesn't relate to Kirara when she says she's bi.
* ''Manga/OkaneGaNai'': Neither Kanou nor Ayase were attracted to males before hooking up. As of Chapter 37, it's made pretty clear that both Ayase and Kanou have the whole "If it's you it's okay" thing going for each other. However, ''EVERY'' straight guy in the series feels this way about Ayase.
* A non-romantic example in ''Webcomic/OrangeMarmalade'' when Si-Hoo says he doesn't "bend that way" but says that he'll make an exception for Jae-min just so he'll "have him". Jae-min then tries to punch him in the face.
* A inversion in ''Manga/OuranHighSchoolHostClub'': [[spoiler: Haruhi's]] bisexual [[spoiler:father Ryouji/Ranka]] renounced his heterosexual side after his wife's death. To him, It's ''Not'' Okay If It's Not Her.
* In ''Manga/PenguinRevolution,'' this seems to be more or less Yuzuru Narazaki's approach to his feelings for [[SweetPollyOliver Yukari]], given that at the time of his LoveEpiphany he still thinks she's a guy and doesn't find out otherwise until three manga volumes later.
* It's very strongly hinted -- but ''just'' short of explicit -- that Leon feels this way about Count D in ''Manga/PetshopOfHorrors''. For Count D, Leon would be the only ''human'' he could maybe possibly ever feel attracted to. It's... problematic.
* Pretty much the law of the land when it comes to Po-Ju's works both in and out-universe (hence the meme [[GuiltyPleasure "Po-Ju made me gay,"]]) but ''Nebula'' is a special case as a FatAndSkinny duo of [[TheBully bullies]] initially seem like they're going to shake down and/or beat up Harry Potteresque nerd in hot pants only to make him strip naked, reveal the lubricating butt-plug he's been keistering all day then have sex with him while they lampshade their frustration at liking him the whole time and decide to [[InsaneTrollLogic hang around him more afterwards as to "not appear suspicious."]]
* Possibly some of the guys from ''Manga/PrincessPrincess'', who get all excited (to the point of ridiculousness) about the "princesses" ...even knowing that they're really guys dressed up in cute girly outfits.
* ''Anime/RevolutionaryGirlUtena'': Juri Arisugawa is by all accounts a lesbian or at least has very strong feelings for a particular girl, but is shown flirting with and teasing the male Miki Kaoru. (Who, admittedly, is quite small and incredibly effeminate.)
* Kazuhiro from ''Manga/SazanamiCherry'' confesses his affections to a girl he's seen on the bus several times. After he asks Ren out formally, he is accepted however Ren reveals [[UnsettlingGenderReveal that he's a boy]]. Kazuhiro doesn't really mind.
* In ''Manga/{{Sekirei}}'', Mutsu states that he would have preferred being [[MagicContractRomance Winged]] by a "pretty lady", but readily accepts that the Ashikabi that [[RedStringOfFate called]] him is male. This doesn't stop others from teasing him, and their relationship remains somewhat [[HoYay ambiguous]] at the moment. Minato and Homura also have shades of this, with both [[CannotSpitItOut unable]] to admit their feelings but accepting their bond, never the less.
* PlayedForLaughs in the first chapter of ''Manga/ShuukanShounenHachi'': Saru is shocked by the fact [[DudeLooksLikeALady Miké]] is a guy... but he still asks him his contact anyway, much to the latter's annoyance.
* The second part of the ''Manga/SilverDiamond'' manga implies this is how Rakan feels about Chigusa.
* In ''Manga/SweetBlueFlowers'', this ''may'' be the reason why [[spoiler:Akira decides to try dating Fumi]].
* ''Manga/ToLoveRu'': Momo ignores all the guys who hit on her at school and only looks at Rito. Even when he temporarily [[GenderBender changes sex]], Momo is no less eager to get all over him, even claiming she could teach him how to better make love to women that way.
* Mutsuki of ''Manga/TokyoGhoul'' initially was depicted as a trans man with no interest in anything sexual (owing to his traumatic past which is implied to include sexual abuse from his father and Torso later on) and thinks sexual attention from men is disgusting. But he has feelings for Sasaki/Kaneki another man and decides he must be "embarrassingly female" to have these feelings but finds them hard to ignore especially as he [[GreenEyedEpiphany realizes his feelings as a result of jealousy at seeing Touka and Sasaki interacting]].
* In ''Manga/TheTyrantFallsInLove'', Souichi is a complete and utter homophobe. And yet, somehow, Morinaga gets him into bed quite a number of times. At one point, Souichi even says he only does it with Morinaga because it's him.
* In ''Manga/UnderGrandHotel'' Norman mentions at one point "I'm not interested in men. Except him (Swordfish), that is..."
* In ''Manga/VirginLove'', Daigo's pickup line to Kaoru is basically: "I like women, but you're [[EvenTheGuysWantHim gorgeous]]. My place or yours?"
* ''Manga/WanderingSon'':
** Nitori can best be described as a lesbian stuck inside a [[UsefulNotes/{{Transgender}} boy's body]] but a girl named Chiba has had an attraction to her since elementary school. Chiba apparently has SingleTargetSexuality, since though she'd prefer if Nitori was a boy she doesn't mind much if she becomes a girl.
** Nitori's former girlfriend Anna dated Nitori, under the impression she was a masculine boy who likes cross-dressing. They eventually break up after [[spoiler:Nitori goes to school in a SailorFuku and wig]], though Anna obviously still likes her [[spoiler:to the point where they get back together quickly]]. The series ends with [[spoiler:Anna and Nitori have been dating again for several years now. Anna says she's fine with being considered a lesbian if she's with Nitori]].
** Nitori displays no concrete interest in boys except for her trans boy best friend Takatsuki, who she states she sees as a boy even when stuck in feminine attire. She had a crush on Takatsuki in elementary and it ruined their friendship with Saori (who became very jealous of Takatsuki) for years.
* Both Tetsuo and Amano in ''Manga/{{Yuureitou}}''. Amano at first feels attracted to Tetsuo as a woman, but he eventually comes to completely accept him and love him for who he is. Taichi even states he doesn't want to be with a Tetsuo who has given up on being a man. Tetsuo identifies as a straight man while being biologically female and comes to fall for Amano after spending time with him and being accepted as being a man by Amano.
* ''Manga/{{Zetsuai 1989}}'': Before he met Izumi, Kouji was a womanizer, and even after they get together he maintains that he's still heterosexual, just madly in love with Izumi. (In fact, he claims that thinking of other men makes him feel sick.)
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Comic Books]]
* ''ComicBook/BlueIsTheWarmestColor'':
** This could be said of Clémentine and Emma's relationship, at least initially, as Emma is the only woman Clémentine is ever with.
** [[spoiler: Clémentine]] also cheats with a man, and that's possibly also this, or simply her being bisexual.
* In ''[[ComicBook/BuffyTheVampireSlayer Buffy Season 8]]'', Buffy (who has been consistently shown to be heterosexual, having several boyfriends over the course of the series) sleeps with Satsu, a lesbian Slayer. [[WordOfGod Joss]] has said this is less about Buffy coming out as gay or bisexual (because she still considers herself straight), but that she's "experimenting" and that it was a logical step for her. Indeed, in the comic itself, it's treated less as romantic, more as Buffy just wanting to be with someone who loves her. Which makes her either a {{woobie}} or a {{jerkass}} depending on how you feel about how she treated Satsu afterward.
* For a very brief while, it seemed Trickster was headed this way with Piper in ''ComicBook/CountdownToFinalCrisis'', alas [[spoiler: Deadshot kills Trickster as he's protecting Piper]].
* Michael from ''ComicBook/{{Enigma}}'' falls for the titular masked man.
* {{Averted}} actually for Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. Despite what the page image shows, the two have always been depicted as bisexual. That said the trope does come into play with Ivy, who is a MisanthropeSupreme and, while having a soft spot for children, she genuinely only cares for Harley and even mentions if she ever retires from crime, it'd be with her. Though by this point the two aren't in a relationship and only time will tell if it will go anywhere. Granted, Ivy still plays it straight somewhat as she is openly attracted to Batman and considers him one of the men worthy of her equal attention rather than using them as food for her plants or to deal with her issues.
* Maggie from ''ComicBook/LoveAndRockets'' describes herself like this, which in some of the early stories irritated her on-again, off-again lesbian girlfriend Hopey. Although in one of the later stories, when she plants a TakeThatKiss on Vivian, Vivian gets into it for a few seconds before punching her. A grinning Maggie's aside response: "[[EvenTheGirlsWantHer Still got it]]".
* The 1980s Marvel comic ''ComicBook/NewMutants'' has Danielle Moonstar: jealous of the attention paid to other girls by boys she likes, exhibitionistic in front of boys, admiring of the male physique and in love with her best girlfriend Rahne Sinclair.
* Francine and Katchoo from ''ComicBook/StrangersInParadise'' are probably the only couple on this page where ''both'' characters felt that it is "okay if it is you." Katchoo is actually very difficult to classify, since she is very clear that [[DoesNotLikeMen she is not interested in men]], but simultaneously asserts that she is not gay. Most of the series establishes that she is, and forever will be, [[SingleTargetSexuality only interested in Francine]]… except that, when [[spoiler:she learns that David is dying and he has loved her for years]], she reciprocates and joins him in bed to have a child together and also to wait out his remaining days, even though it is clear that Francine is still the only true target of her affections. Francine is the more obvious and iconic example of the trope. She is in love with Katchoo but struggles with the sexual aspect for most of the series, and she is boy-crazy and states openly in a mental monologue that she has never been confused about her sexuality before Katchoo. She never shows attraction to any other female through the entire run of the series, but ultimately comes to the realization that -- male or female -- Katchoo is the only person for her.
* In ''ComicBook/{{Runaways}}'', Karolina Dean's feelings for Nico Minoru were hinted at throughout volume 1, culminating with Karolina sheepishly blushing when Nico says she has sworn off boys in vol. 1 #18. Once they found out their parents were super villains and went on the run, Karolina is shown to dislike Nico's relationship with Alex. However, Karolina's feelings were not explicitly expressed until vol. 2 #7 when Karolina startles Nico with an attempted kiss. Nico had not shown romantic feelings for Karolina previously and turns Karolina down, saying that she prefers boys and wants time alone. However, when Karolina decides to travel to her home planet Majesdane with Xavin, Nico is distraught and seems to react the strongest to Karolina's departure despite not showing many signs of romantic feelings or even a close friendship during the course of the series. Nico was very upset by her departure and tried to use a spell to bring her back, but was stopped by Gert. While Karolina was away, Nico kept her bracelet, holding it when praying. When Karolina later returns to Earth, Nico asks her where she attempted to kiss her to prove that she wasn't an imposter. Their friendship is an occasionally strained one, due to Nico's ambiguous feelings towards Karolina and her strong dislike of Xavin.

[[folder:Fan Works]]
* Although both straight, both Harry and Ron in ''Theatre/AVeryPotterMusical'' show overwhelming love for Zefron. Lord Voldemort also misses his *cough* bromance with Quirrel after he gets back together with Bellatrix. Despite trying to get both him and Quirrel laid earlier on in the musical.
* "[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4847462/1/Primary_Gain Primary Gain]]," an AU ''Anime/CodeGeass'' SlashFic, has a seemingly straight Suzaku fall for Lelouch (who is gay). Suzaku is very, very confused as to how this could have happened, but his recent girlfriend (Kallen) seems to be a highly amused YaoiFangirl about the whole situation. It doesn't help that a lot of other characters assume they are lovers, while Suzaku is weakly insisting, "But I like girls…"
* Presumably any slash fic based on two obviously hetero in-universe characters is built on this trope.
** This is how SlashFic ''started'', with Series/{{Star Trek|The Original Series}} fans deciding that, as far as the rampantly heterosexual Captain Kirk was concerned, If It's Spock Its Okay.
* ''Fanfic/AdviceAndTrust'':
** Although Rei likes men and she cares about Shinji, she eventually also falls in love with Asuka due to the strong and enduring bond the three of them shape.
** It was a "blink and you'll miss it" moment, but a scene hints Asuka's feelings towards Rei have become almost as strong as her love towards Shinji. Asuka tells: "I don't need anyone else but him, not even… Kaji." Word Of God brought her little hesitation to attention, hinting she was about to say a different name.
* ''Fanfic/DoingItRightThisTime'': Asuka and Rei are mostly heterosexual and they like the same boy (Shinji) but they also fall in love with each other.
* ''Manga/Evangelion303'': Kaworu is homosexual but he fell in love with Rei (a woman). Shinji points out Kaworu simply loves her for who she is, and "gender" is irrelevant to him.
* ''[[Fanfic/TriptychContinuum A Mark Of Appeal]]'': Joyous Release's overcharged cutie mark talent makes her a trotting Type 2 example of this. Any sapient being who spends more than a few seconds in her presence is consumed with near-overwhelming sexual desire for her, regardless of species, marital status, or (normal) sexuality.
* ''Fanfic/MyImmortal'': Enoby and Dracko is an love!!! Andf lovew for them is okayy.
** Actually it's stated that almost each main character is bisexual, hence [[AvertedTrope this trope is averted]]. Although Ebony later denies that she and Willow have LesYay because that would be "gay".
* In the ''Literature/HaruhiSuzumiya'' fanfic ''Fanfic/KyonBigDamnHero'' Mikuru Asahina (big) claims not being into paedophilia just before kissing Kyon.
** True, though, Kyon isn't young enough for that. GeniusDitz?
** Well, it may be hinting that [[MayflyDecemberRomance the age difference between Kyon and the adult Mikuru]] is [[OlderThanTheyLook much]] [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld larger]] than previously believed. Time travel is tricky.
* Sirius Black, in the ''Literature/HarryPotter'' fandom, often describes himself as a "lycanthrosexual", as the only guy he's interested in is Remus.
* In the ''VideoGame/AssassinsCreedII'' fandom, this is one of the most commonly used explanations for pairing [[HandsomeLech confirmed skirt-chaser]] Ezio Auditore da Firenze with canonically gay Creator/LeonardoDaVinci.
* Fanfics taking place in the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse usually don't omit Bucky's canonical success with women. Nevertheless, they usually write Steve as Bucky's one and only true love.
* The ''Series/{{Sherlock}}'' fanfic [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6435170/1/The_Heart_In_The_Whole The Heart In The Whole]] is made of this trope -- the normally asexual Sherlock Holmes begins a sexual relationship with John Watson, but still freaks out at the idea of anyone else touching him.
* In the ''WebVideo/YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries'' spin-off fic ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6954805/1/Marik_Bakura_Go_To_Censored_Town Marik & Bakura Go To Censored Town]]'', Marik is completely straight except with Bakura. Whether this fic counts as part of the abridged canon is unclear, though, nor is it clear [[TransparentCloset if he's being entirely truthful in that.]]
--> '''Marik''': I mean, you know that I'm only gay for you! I'm very comfortable with my gayness where you're concerned. [[HaveIMentionedIAmHeterosexualToday But as far as anyone else goes, totally hetero!]]
* Most ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'' fanfiction with the "[[GenderBender Ranma]] gets modelocked as a girl forever" plot use this trope in regards to Ranma and Akane. This could be unlikely to happen in canon, as Ranma and Akane are both implied to have societal stigma against same-sex activity.
-->'''Akane:''' ''[thinking he's going to kiss her]'' Wait, Ranma. People are watching, you know! And we're both ''girls''! You can't, you can't!\
'''Ranma:''' ''[walks past her]'' You've got a dirty mind!
: It's also implied by his thoughts in the chapter "Stand Up, Ranma!" that one of the reasons why Ranma wants to be back to his old self again is because he wouldn't be able to really be with Akane otherwise.
-->'''Ranma:''' Akane... it will be soon... I will be a man again, soon.
* A lot of fic deals with [[Series/{{Supernatural}} Dean Winchester's]] obnoxiously obvious hetness by declaring that, like the Spock example above, If It's Cas It's OK. (Castiel doesn't have to worry about it, because being an angel he doesn't technically have gender, even though his primary vessel is male.)
** Many of these fics subvert this trope, though, by heavily implying or outright stating that Dean's really a closeted bisexual who's been attracted to men in the past (like Dr. Sexy or Aaron Bass) but staunchly repressed it due to his father's extremely heteronormative views and consequently tries to treat his feelings for Castiel as this because it's easier for him to think of Castiel as just a one-off exception rather than an indicator that his overall sexuality may not be what he thought it was. A good example of this kind of portrayal is ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/1076473 Dean's List]]'' where Dean makes a list of men he'd go gay for that he initially seems to be doing just for fun until it's revealed that he's really doing it as a stepping stone to admitting to himself and Sam that he may be genuinely into men, Cas included.
* In most '''M*A*S*H''' slash fic (yes, it does exist)if it's [[LauncherOfAThousandShips Hawkeye]] it's okay for Trapper/BJ/insert-male-character-here. Hawkeye himself is a subversion as fandom has decided he's an ExtremeOmnisexual and reads him in the series as AmbiguouslyBi.
* A funny subversion offered by a third, observing party: The ''Anime/FullmetalAlchemist2003'' fanfic ''Skeletons'' by Maiden Of The Moon (to be found on fanfiction.net) has [[SiblingIncest Elricest]] in a double serving. Once the classic Ed/Al and then again Edward's [[spoiler: well, actually Al's, biologically]] [[GenerationXerox grandsons]], Edward and Al(exander). When Alex freaks out on the possibility to have an incest fetish his younger sister Rosalie (yaoi fangirl and somewhat an expy of Winry) prompts to snog him and at his clear disgust gleefully exclaims that apparently, it is NOT an incest fetish. He just happens to be in love with a boy that happens to be his brother.
* The ''Manga/DeathNote'' fandom has decided, as far as the otherwise asexual Light Yagami is concerned, if it's [[FoeYayShipping L]] it's okay. Overlaps often with SingleTargetSexuality for both guys.
* In ''Fanfic/ACureForLove'' Light [[HeroicBSOD is a bit traumatized]] when he realizes he is attracted to L. L rationalizes it for him this way:
-->'''Light:''' I am sorry though. Really. I think I was confused.\
'''L:''' You ''were'' confused?\
'''Light:''' Hmm.\
'''L:''' But you're not anymore.\
'''Light:''' No. Well, a little. Mostly embarrassed and... [[ThereAreNoTherapists maybe I should see a psychiatrist?]]\
'''L:''' [[EvenTheGuysWantHim Do I really have that effect?]]\
'''Light:''' No!\
'''L:''' Look, we'll forget about it. These things happen, I'm sure. I've read accounts of soldiers in the Belgian Congo being taken unaware by... waking up in the night and hormones and bad things.\
'''Light:''' You have? Soldiers in the Belgian Congo?\
'''L:''' [[ManlyGay They're very manly.]]\
'''Light:''' They must be.\
'''L:''' [[DeadpanSnarker And the Spartans. Remember the Spartans.]]
* With a good amount of ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'' SlashFic Naruto will be otherwise straight except when he's around Sasuke as well as Sasuke for Naruto.
* In the ''Franchise/KingdomHearts'' SlashFic ''Kiss and I Will Surrender'' by Fifi [=McFu=], Sora and Roxas are like this for each other.
* The Thor fandom has decided that, for Thor's point of view, If It's [[NotBloodSiblings Loki]] It's Okay.
* The werewolf Victor in ''Fanfic/{{Luminosity}}'' intentionally went looking for his imprint to “cure” himself of being gay, since male wolves can only imprint on females because the point of imprinting is to reproduce and pass on werewolf genetics. It worked.
* In ''Fanfic/AGrowingAffection'', this trope is how Hana Inuzuka describes her relationship with Shizune.
--> ''Hana'': I've always found other women attractive, and not just in an aesthetic way. But I generally prefer men. I like the way they smell, and there is nothing like a long, hard… bicep to hold onto on a cold night. But there was something about Shizune; she and I just clicked."
* This happens to Sherlock Holmes and John Watson in multiple permutations of the fandom, be it Doyle's stories, the movie series, or the BBC series. Holmes may be asexual, and Watson may love women, but that doesn't matter when it comes to the two of them.
* Princesses Luna and Twilight in ''Fanfic/TheShadowWars'' continuity are both normally heterosexual. Their Sole Exceptions being where each other are concerned.
* In later chapters of the ''Series/{{NCIS}}'' fic ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8935062/1/Shards-To-A-Whole Shards To a Whole]]'', happily married couples Tim and Abby [=McGee=] and Jimmy and Breena Palmer begin exploring their shared attraction for each other, ultimately bonding into a long-term [[{{Polyamory}} polyamorous four-person relationship.]] Abby identifies herself as bisexual, while Tim, Jimmy and Breena identify as straight, with a healthy dose of this trope, combined with a little [[GirlOnGirlIsHot Girl on Girl]] and/or GuyOnGuyIsHot (as of 8/1/2015, Tim and Jimmy have not gone any further than kissing, and the primary standing rule of their four-person marriage is that no one pressures anyone into doing anything they are not comfortable with).
* [[Manga/OnePiece Nami]] is only interested in women in ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10925103/2/A-Different-First-Crewmember A Different First Crewmember]]'' with a single exception: Luffy. She's implied to have multiple girlfriends before but Luffy is the only man she has any romantic or sexual feelings for. Of course, this results in some hilarity when Sanji tries flirting with her, only for Nami to largely ignore him.
* Due to the pressure on Purebloods to get married and have children, the gay ones in ''Fanfic/TomRiddlesSchooldays'' had better pick spouses like this.
* In ''Fanfic/NoChanceForFate'', Ami Mizuno is a strictly heterosexual girl. She gets quite the surprise when falling in love with Ranma Saotome, that she also starts to appreciate his female form. To Ami's relief, it turns out that her heart and mind concluded that Ranma is Ranma, regardless of gender, and thus her attraction to both of his forms without her heterosexual orientation being changed at all. She still doesn't react to other girls at all. Both of them make peace with this fact and [[spoiler:due to circumstances even make love as girls and admit they ''did'' enjoy it]].
* There are two instances in ''Fanfic/PersonaEG''.
** [[spoiler:Pinkie and Twilight for each other when Flash, Pinkie, and Twilight enter a three-way relationship. Though Pinkie is a little more bisexual.]]
** Rainbow Dash ends up crushing on Principal Celestia. This ends up becoming a plot point when Eris posts on Canterbook as Rainbow asking Celestia out, [[spoiler:which is something no one outside the dorm should know, giving Flash the final clue he needed to determine Eris' identity.]]
* Several ''WesternAnimation/{{Zootopia}}'' [[PortmanteauCoupleName [=WildeHopps=] ]] fics take this approach with Judy and Nick: Judy isn't into foxes as a rule, and Nick isn't attracted to rabbits, except when it's each other.
* ''Fanfic/TheRWBYLoops'' has Yang and Blake, who start dating after the expansion where Adam cuts off Yang's arm shakes them both up. Interestingly, while they do agree they fall under the "sole exception" version at the time, much later conversations have them acknowledge they might have been closeted bisexuals beforehand (but by that point they're in a committed relationship, so the point's moot).
* In ''Fanfic/HereInMyArms'', all the girls are quite clear that they're not bisexual, they're just in love with each other along with [[Manga/RosarioPlusVampire Tsukune]].
* ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12151948/1/Anime-Addventure-Masters-Way Master's Way]]'' has [[Manga/RanmaOneHalf Ukyo]] eventually decide that [[spoiler:it doesn't matter if Ranma is a boy or a girl; they're still her Ranchan, and she wants them regardless]].
* The ''Series/RizzoliAndIsles'' fic “[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13686887/1/What-Happens-In-Vegas What Happens in Vegas]]” features Jane and Maura getting married in Vegas while attending a medical conference after they get extremely drunk. While considering the possibilities of maintaining the marriage, Jane in particular acknowledges that even though she doesn’t consider herself gay, she is attracted to Maura as the best person she has ever met.
* ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12692769/1/A-Year-Without-Rin A Year Without Rin]]'' and it's companion stories "A Year Without GUMI" and "I'm Her Best Friend and She's In Love With Me" Vocaloid GUMI feels this way towards Rin.
* In ''Fanfic/LostInCamelot'', while Bo is an established bisexual and Merlin is simply straight, Morgana has to spend a day analysing her feelings after Bo proposes that she join Bo and Merlin's pre-existing relationship. However, Morgana had previously mused that Bo would be the perfect suitor if she had been born a man, and after their 'relationship' begins, while Morgana makes it clear she is uncomfortable taking things with Bo too far, the fact that she is willing to kiss Bo and share moments of closeness with her says a lot about Morgana's feelings considering the standards of the time. Although Morgana briefly contemplates breaking it off as she has trouble being physically affectionate with Bo, [[spoiler:she overcomes this issue after Bo is briefly captured by Hengist]], and by the time Morgause comes to Camelot Morgana is willing to assure Bo that the succubus is the only woman she will ever love.
* The ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer''/''Series/StargateSG1'' crossover "[[https://www.tthfanfic.org/Story-5523/Jesmin+Fine+Lines.htm Fine Lines]]" opens with the revelation that Tara was Ascended after her death, and subsequently formed a strong bond with Daniel after he Ascended. When Dawn expresses surprise at her becoming so attached to a man, Tara explains that gender was basically irrelevant among the Ascended and Tara was drawn to Daniel's pure soul, forming such a strong bond with him that [[spoiler:she chooses to stay with Daniel after returning to human form herself rather than go back to Willow]].
* "[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/29880426/ we'll bury these old ghosts here]]" looks at the characters of ''Series/BrooklynNineNine'' in the aftermath of the Snap (''Film/AvengersInfinityWar''), with part of the subsequent five years seeing Jake and Rosa forming a relationship after Amy was one of the Snap's victims a week after her and Jake's honeymoon. Once the Avengers undo the Snap, Rosa proposes a poly relationship with her, Jake and Amy, but while it was initially "just" the two women and their own relationships with Jake, eventually Rosa and Amy begin to explore their own dynamic even though Amy has never shown any interest in other women on her own.
* Suggested in the ''ComicBook/SpiderMan'' fic "[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/49689625/ Jackpot]]" when circumstances result in Gwen Stacy being brought back to life in a post-''[[ComicBook/CivilWar2006 Civil War]]'' reality where Peter is still married to Mary Jane. When Mary Jane suggests that she and Gwen share Peter, Mary Jane makes it clear that she's fully bisexual, but Gwen states that while she doesn't know about girls in general, even as she starts wondering if she qualifies as pansexual or bisexual as she starts to accept a growing awareness of beautiful women just as she can acknowledge handsome men, Gwen is at least sure she likes Mary Jane that way.
* Another ''Spider-Man'' example features in the fic "[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/51565354/ Red, Black and Blue]]" when Mary Jane impulsively kisses Felicia while Peter's in hospital and the two women subsequently suggest to Peter that they expand their relationship. While Peter is aware that Felicia has dated women in the past, when he asks Mary Jane about this development, MJ affirms that she's never thought about girls that way before, but the idea of being with Peter ''and'' Felicia feels right to her.
* Suggested in the ''Film/{{Hanna}}'' fic “[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/270104 When You Get Older]]”, as Hanna reunites with Sophie to do more research into her past, and Sophie eventually realises that she has feelings for Hanna. At one point Sophie explicitly states that she’s not gay when another person asked if she’s involved with Hanna, but the person who asked the question points out that there’s a difference between her being involved with Hanna and being gay. Sophie later privately acknowledges that she has glanced at other girls in the past, but affirms to herself that Hanna is the only one she really wants.
* Discussed in the ''Anime/PokemonTheSeries'' fanfic "[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9650001/1/Northern-Lights-and-Ocean-Dreams Northern Lights and Ocean Dreams]]"; when the fic begins, Ash becomes involved with Dawn after travelling through old regions again, but when he ends up stuck in Cerulean City after trying to challenge Misty again he [[LoveRevelationEpiphany realises that he's in love with Misty as well]]. After Dawn is [[IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy willing to give up Ash so Misty can have him]], Misty observes that such a significant sacrifice shows that Dawn cares about ''her'' as well and the three form a triad. During their first night together, Dawn spends some time trying to figure out which way this applies to her -- does she like men with Misty the exception or like women with Ash the exception? -- but despite remembering a brief kiss with Zoey, Dawn soon concludes that it isn't important so long as she's with the people she loves.
* In ''Fanfic/ReBoundRWBY'', Qrow is straight but Taiyang is his one exception. The two had a past relationship.
* Both Harley and Barbara are this to each other in the ''DCAU'' fic ''Fanfic/PsalmOfTheLark''. Neither are attracted to women besides each other.
* In ''Fanfic/{{Control}}'', Yukari isn't into women. She's just into one specific woman: her best friend Minamo.
* This is subverted in ''[[Fanfic/TheTouchOfGreenFire The Healer's Touch]]''. Kim initially insists that she isn't lesbian and that she is only attracted to Shego, but Shego understands that it isn't true. She struggled with her sexuality years ago, so she knows that a common step in realizing you're gay is to try and insist that you're straight and only like one specific person.
* In the ''Manga/GunsmithCats'' epic, ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/434801/1/Chasing-the-Dragon Chasing The Dragon]]'' a series of traumatic events leave Rally Vincent depressed. [[spoiler: Her best friend May Hopkins helps her breakout of the depresson by [[SexForSolace having sex]] with her. Afterwards, Rally makes it clear to May that she is into men, but allowed her to be an exception and compliments May on how good at love making she is]].
* In ''Fanfic/{{Recoil}}'' Andrea notes that Taylor is the straightest girl she has ever met. Despite this the two of them develop a loving relationship based on emotional rather than sexual intimacy.
* The M-rated ''Suspenders-verse'' series by Creator/{{Evilhumour}} mentions at one point that Prince Dusk Shine's older sister, Gleaming Shield, is ninety-five percent attracted to mares. The only stallion who does ''anything'' for her is Bolero, the [[GenderBender male form]] that her wife Cadance sometimes assumes.
* In ''Fanfic/InfinityTrainBlossomingTrail'', the author assumes that either Trip is asexual or into girls, but will make an exception with Ash Ketchum as he confesses his love to the Pallet Town Trainer.
* DeviantArtist RadioDemoness1989's ''WebAnimation/HazbinHotel'' stories seem to lean towards this with the canonically asexual Alastor and his OC wife Megan, given that the pair have twins.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Films -- Animated]]
* In ''WesternAnimation/HappyFeetTwo'', male sea krill Will and Bill have this dynamic in their HoYay filledfriendship as Will is willing to have a family with his best friend Bill despite both of them being straight and males but Will doesn't care. Bill compromises but tells him "no hanky panky".
* In ''WesternAnimation/OpenSeason2'', an Inverted example in the second film as when [=McSquizzy=] disguises himself as a little female dog along with Gizelle, a doberman named Rico becomes smitten with him and remains in love, even after he finds out that [=McSquizzy=] is a squirrel. It is not until he reveals that he is a guy that Rico drops the romance.

* ''Film/Adam2019'': Gillian tells Adam she's never dated a trans guy (he's actually cis) but is open to the idea, and starts a relationship with him. She realizes she's bisexual, not a lesbian, after this.
* Deconstructed playfully in the 1997 movie ''Film/AliveAndKicking'', in which gay dancer Tonio (Creator/JasonFlemyng) and his best friend, lesbian dancer Millie (Diane Parish) get drunk and decide that since their respective partners have broken up with them, they should have sex with each other, even though neither of them are straight. They try to make out, but it doesn’t work. They strip naked and get on the bed, but neither of them finds the sight of each other’s body remotely arousing. He suggests she gives him a blowjob to arouse him, and she counters by suggesting he give her cunnilingus to arouse ''her''. "You’re joking!" he exclaims, "it’s like a forest!" They agree to just have a cup of tea instead.
* ''Film/TheAssignment2016'': After Frank's unwilling sex reassignment surgery, his girlfriend Johnnie has no problem continuing their relationship, suggesting either this or that she's bi, since she likes him in female form too.
* ''Film/BadhaaiDo'': Defied. After Shardul's family, who aren't aware that Shardul and Sumi are in a lavender marriage, pressures them to have a kid over the Diwali holiday, Shardul and [[AllLesbiansWantKids Sumi]] briefly contemplate actually trying sex with each other to conceive. They get as far as an AlmostKiss before mutually backing out. Later Sumi's girlfriend is disgusted by the idea and suspects Shardul to be secretly bisexual (he's not, it was just ill-thought out).
* One of the more bizarre examples of this trope comes in ''Film/BeingJohnMalkovich'' when Maxine, who shows no other signs of being interested in women, tells Lotte that she's absolutely smitten with her and loves having sex with her... but only when Lotte is [[BodySnatcher inhabiting (the male) John Malkovich's body]]. [[spoiler:By the end of the film, though, she's apparently decided that she's fine being with Lotte even in her original female body.]]
* This is how Ennis views his love for Jack in ''Film/BrokebackMountain'', and outright tells him that he's never been attracted to another man. Jack on the other hand is bisexual, and pursues other men as well as women.
* ''Film/TheCakemaker'': Thomas, a gay man, meets the widow of a man he was having an affair with; eventually, they develop a sexual and emotional bond.
* Subverted in ''Film/ChasingAmy''. Alyssa falls in love with Holden despite initially insisting that she's a lesbian who [[IncompatibleOrientation can't love him back]], but it turns out that she's slept with other men in the past and knew that she liked men too but publicly identified as a lesbian because it carried less stigma than being bisexual. Holden, who liked the idea that he had "converted" a lesbian, is not happy when he learns that he wasn't a special exception to her after all and his inability to accept this ends up destroying their relationship.
* Woof in ''Film/{{Hair}}'' comments that he wouldn't kick Mick Jagger out of bed, but he's not homosexual.
* ''Film/JurassicWorldFallenKingdom'': In a deleted scene, Zia reveals she is a lesbian but comments she would be willing to have sex with Owen because he is so badass, despite the thought grossing her out a little.
* ''Film/{{Lammbock}}'': Stefan for Mehmet Scholl, a (former) German soccer player.
* Hinted at heavily but never outright stated in ''Film/MammaMia''. Harry notes that Donna is "the first woman [he] ever loved", and adds that she was also the ''last'' woman he ever loved, punctuating the statement by smiling at a man in the crowd.
* ''Mannen som elsket Yngve'' (Film/TheManWhoLovedYngve) -- the otherwise heterosexual, and fully girlfriend-equipped, Jarle Klepp falls in love with his new male high school classmate Yngve, much to his confusion.
* Strongly separated from sex in ''Film/MyOwnPrivateIdaho'': Mike and Scott are male prostitutes, both treating sex with men as nothing but a business arrangement -- except when it comes to each other. Mike loves Scott to the point of wanting to make love with him, and Scott, who is homophobic about any contact between men that can't be explained away by money or teen rebellion, makes an exception for Mike just the once.
* ''Film/PainAndGlory'': Salvador meets his old lover, Federico, decades after the end of their relationship. Federico reveals that after they broke up, he spent many years married to a woman and has two sons. He's getting divorced, but he currently has another girlfriend. However he is still attracted enough to Salvador that he offers to stay the night. Salvador gently turns him down.
-->'''Federico''': My experience with men ended with you\
'''Salvador''': I don't know how to take that.\
'''Federico''': Take it as a compliment.
* ''Film/PlanB'' has Bruno and Pablo, who have both been involved with only women before, fall in love with each other much to their confusion. Pablo does initially claim that he was once with a guy, but admits later on that he was lying and tells Bruno after a failed attempt to have sex with him that he's confused about his feelings for him because he doesn't even like guys. Similarly, Bruno responds to a friend's query if he likes guys now by saying that he can't even explain how things between him and Pablo turned out this way and says something similar to Pablo ("I don't know how this happened. I couldn't avoid it.") when he confesses his feelings to him.
* Played for laughs at the end of ''Film/SomeLikeItHot''. Jerry, who's spent most of the film DisguisedInDrag, tells Osgood who's become infatuated with his female persona that he's actually a man, but Osgood (who's clearly depicted as too besotted to think rationally or fully comprehend what Jerry's trying to tell him) responds with a blithe, "Well, nobody's perfect!"
* In ''Film/TrueRomance'', Clarence has a monologue centered around rationalizing the idea that he would have sex with Music/ElvisPresley if given the opportunity. It's written by Creator/QuentinTarantino, naturally. Also, in the movie, Elvis is some sort of SpiritAdvisor to Clarence, but no, they don't have sex.
* ''Film/VelvetBuzzsaw'': Gay art dealer Morf breaks up with his live-in boyfriend as he has an affair with a woman. While he is never explicitly labeled as gay, actor Jake Gyllenhaal describes the relationship as "a gay man going straight for a woman" because they have similar tastes and are equally vapid.
* In ''Film/VickyCristinaBarcelona'', it's possible to see Christina's romance with Maria Elena as an example of this, since when she's asked if she's bisexual, she doesn't say yes.
* King Marchand in ''Film/VictorVictoria'' falls in love with the title character while thinking that she's a man. Eventually:
-->'''King:''' I don't care if you are a man. ''[kisses her]''\
'''Victoria''': I'm not a man.\
'''King''': I still don't care.
: Seriously undercut here by the fact that in the film (unlike in the musical adapted from it) King has prior to this made a point to spy on Victoria in the bathroom and thus settle the matter to his own satisfaction.
* [[spoiler:Ace]] and [[spoiler:Tobio]] in ''Film/WildZero''.
* Subverted tragically in ''Film/YTuMamaTambien'': the two lead characters have been enjoying a [[HeterosexualLifePartner Heterosexual Life Partnership]] brimming with HoYay, but when it turns physical one night [[spoiler:(as part of their sexual initiation by an older woman)]], their relationship ends up destroyed.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Literature]]
* In many versions of from [[Myth/ArthurianLegend Arthurian]] Literature, this defines Lancelot's relationship with Guinevere, as he is never at all attracted to anyone else.
* In Maureen Johnson's ''Literature/TheBermudezTriangle'', Avery has a HUGE one of these for Mel, as she is straight. She says something about it being just Mel, and that she was only gay for her because Mel needed someone to help her realize that she was les.
* According to WordOfGod, Butch of the ''Literature/BlackDaggerBrotherhood'' is 'V-sexual', even though both he and Vishous are [[spoiler: in committed relationships with women by the end of their respective books.]]
** Judging by many scenes from ''Lover Revealed'', the feelings are mutual.
** That one was made pretty clear even without Word of God, though, especially in their novels, but hinted from the beginning of their relationship.
* Creator/OrsonScottCard:
** In the ''Literature/HomecomingSaga'', you have [[PairTheSpares Shedemei and Zdorab]]. When Shedemei becomes (unintentionally) ostracized from the rest of the women in their little refugee group due to her being the only one childless (she and [[StraightGay Zdorab]] aren't what the others would call "a real couple", though they were emotionally as close as any of the rest), Zdorab agrees to try for a child with her, for her sake. They end up with two.
** ''{{Literature/Songmaster}}'', meanwhile, has Josif and Kyaren -- Josif self-describes as a gay-leaning bisexual. With a 6% attraction to sheep. Expect to see a lot of things like this in Card's work.
* Ceilie and Shug Avery in ''Literature/TheColorPurple''. Hinted at with one painfully awkward kiss in the movie. Stated outright in the book.
* In J. Courtney Sullivan's ''Literature/{{Commencement}}'', this is how [[spoiler: Bree]] sees her relationship with girlfriend Lara. It's left up to the reader to decide, of course, whether she's right or whether her parents' disapproval is coloring her acceptance of her sexuality. Most of her friends seem to think it's the latter, but we never see her with another woman in the book, so who knows?
* In ''[[Literature/UkiahOregon Dog Warrior]]'' Atticus Steele believes himself to be heterosexual for most of his life, but his love for his male roommate and later partner Hikaru Takahasi is strong enough to overcome that when Ru expresses an interest, and the two are a firm couple.
* Subverted in the ''Literature/FafhrdAndTheGrayMouser'' books: The [[HeterosexualLifePartners two titular heroes]] are actually a bit mystified at the fact that they ''haven't'' gotten curious about one another that way.
* The title character of ''Literature/HaruhiSuzumiya'' faces much controversy in the fandom regarding her sexuality, even though she spells it out in the first episode: "I don't care if it's a boy or a girl!" Being [[CloudCuckoolander Haruhi]], her main point was that she doesn't care about gender because she's a [[InterspeciesRomance space-aliens-and-supernatural-beings-sexual]]. Kyon is [[EpilepticTrees probably]] a normal human, and Mikuru [[TimeTravel is not]], but as far as Haruhi knows they're both {{muggle}}s; yet she behaves like a {{tsundere}} towards Kyon and a ClingyJealousGirl towards Mikuru.
* In M.E. Kerr's ''Literature/HelloILied'', Lang, a closeted gay teen who has a secret boyfriend, finds himself falling in love with his female friend Hugette to his surprise. It doesn't end well; when Hugette finds out that he's attracted to her, she freaks out and accuses him of having lied to her about being gay (as none of the characters in the book [[NoBisexuals ever think about bisexuality as a possibility]]).
* Played with in ''Literature/{{Hometown|2014}}''. Kara is a lesbian, but experiments with her friend Jason. While they care deeply for each other and the liaison goes well, it only confirms to Kara that she's 100% gay.
* Vanyel Ashkevron of the ''Literature/LastHeraldMageTrilogy'' is gay but has [[ChosenConceptionPartner sired children for some friends who want them]]. The closest of these, Shavri, causes him some consternation as he realizes that he cares about her rather more acutely than he'd expect. It's enough to make him wonder [[AmbiguouslyBi if he's really gay]] or if his general disinterest in women is because he finds being pursued so off-putting. Eventually he decides that no, it's just that she's a very close friend and since love includes friendship, and since they've had sex, he's got a bit turned around. He also determines for himself that the idea of sex with someone he doesn't feel at least friendship for is repellant, but he'll tolerate sex with women if he cares about them and it's for a good cause.
* Garraty, the AmbiguouslyBi protagonist of Creator/StephenKing's ''Literature/TheLongWalk'' has recurring flashbacks to 'playing doctor' with another boy when he was younger, and the humiliating punishment his mother gave him as a result. He becomes close to one of his fellow Walkers, Mc Vries, and the two have some sexual tension, culminating in Mc Vries offering to jerk Garraty off as they walk. Garraty hesitates, then replies that he can if he wants, at which point Mc Vries laughs and walks away. It's never made clear if Mc Vries was joking, or if it was an example of SituationalSexuality or genuine bisexuality on his part.
* Giles De'Ath in ''{{Literature/Love and Death on Long Island}}'' says he was completely heterosexual before he fell for TeenIdol Ronnie Bostock in middle age, even though his upbringing in British boys' schools gave him plenty of opportunities to do otherwise. Generally, he doesn't seem to subscribe to modern concepts of sexual identity however; it's a much bigger blow to his self-image that he's fallen for a bad artist than for a male one. (The film version leaves this whole issue a lot more ambiguous.)
* In ''Literature/ThePardonersTale'' Nick identifies as Asexual but (almost grudgingly) falls for Alex.
* In ''Literature/PenrynAndTheEndOfDays'', even though she understandably hates angels, Penryn starts to feel attracted to Raffe.
* A Sole Exception example occurs in the ''Literature/PhryneFisher'' novel ''Murder and Mendelssohn''. Doctor John Wilson is homosexual, but due to shared experience and mutual compatibility, he falls into bed with Phryne both during the Great War and later when they meet up again in Melbourne. Phryne later renounces any claim to him so he can be with his true love.
* This comes out in a painfully awkward conversation between main characters in ''Literature/PocketInTheSea'', in which the main character has to convince his best friend, who has a deep, lifelong crush on him, that it really is a case of "If it's you, it's ok." The otherwise straight main character goes so far as to negate the possibility of a future wife, something he had previously insisted on allowing.
* In ''Literature/PrettyLittleLiars'' Emily is rather shocked when she finds herself falling for Isaac, the frontman of a Christian band when she has only been attracted to girls before (or since).
* In ''Literature/RamonaBlue'' by Julie Murphy, the titular main character thinks she is a lesbian and is surprised when she develops feelings for a guy.
* ''Literature/SkulduggeryPleasant'': Pretty much every character who is attracted to males feels this for China Sorrows. This is because she magically makes people who look at her fall in love with her, regardless of their gender. This eventually wears off of most characters as they interact with her more, but she is still considered to be extremely beautiful.
* In Paul Auster's ''Literature/SunsetPark'', Miles Heller's old friend Bing Nathan feels like this with Miles. Unsure about his own sexuality he even tries out sex with another guy but comes to the conclusion that the male body provides "no comfort" to him. He pushes Miles in the corner of the StupidSexyFlanders in this citation: "He was not the only one who felt this way. As far back as he can remember, Miles seemed (...) to possess some magnetic, animal force that changed the atmosphere whenever he walked into a room." This is verified by the way the other Sunset Park squatters react to Miles.
* Alluded to in ''Literature/TheTalisman'' by Peter Straub and Stephen King. Jack Sawyer has the ability to "flip" between Earth and a parallel world, and the more time he spends in the other world, the more attractive he becomes to people in the real world when he returns. To the point that [[spoiler: a man that picks him up while hitch-hiking thinks about sexually molesting him without being quite sure why, so he drops him off at a truck stop much earlier than he intended.]]
* In Creator/AnneMcCaffrey's last [[Literature/TowerAndTheHive Talents]] book, ''The Tower And The Hive'', Laria and her GayBestFriend and second-in-command Kincaid [[LastMinuteHookUp start doing it]]. The explanation ([[HandWave Handwaving]]?) of why they hooked up in the first place: they were both lonely and their Mrdini companions [[AliensMadeThemDoIt "pushed" them towards mutual comfort]]. They become a full-fledged couple later on (and Laria becomes pregnant).
* In Creator/HarryTurtledove's ''Literature/WorldWar'' series, "Mutt" Daniels is trying to romance a nurse named Lucille, who lets him know in no uncertain terms that she's not interested in men. Mutt understands what she means but can't seem to let it go. Eventually, he asks if she's ever been with a man. She replies no but implies that she may make an exception for Mutt. A minute later [[spoiler:she's killed in an artillery barrage]].
* ''[[https://www.amazon.fr/Year-Straight-Confessions-Boy-Crazy-Lesbian-ebook/dp/B06XGKPVK1 A Year Straight: Confessions of a Boy-Crazy Lesbian Beauty Queen]]'' is about the author, who once got elected Miss Lez, falling for her yoga teacher.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Live-Action TV]]
* ''Series/ThirtyRock'':
** Frank falls head over heels for the office's hot, young coffee guy. After much exploration, including an unsatisfying dance at a gay club, Frank realizes he's only "gay for Jamie". In that same episode, Liz tells Frank that ".. you can't be gay for just one person. Unless you're a lady and you meet [[Creator/EllenDegeneres Ellen]]."
** When Jack shows a picture of his girlfriend Elisa (played by Salma Hayek) to the actor who plays the generalissimo, he exclaims "I am super gay and I would totally switch for her".
** At one point, Liz herself seemed a bit attracted to Elisa.
--->'''Elisa:''' I have a terrible secret. Please don't ask me what it is.\
'''Liz:''' I don't want to know what it is! ''[pause]'' Are you a man?\
'''Elisa:''' ''...really'', Lemon? You want to see me naked?\
'''Liz:''' Kind of.
** Jenna has frequently hinted that she'd be open to a lesbian relationship with Liz. She says "I'd totally hit that" while looking at Liz in a pair of very flattering jeans, she's aroused watching adult film actresses playing the two of them kiss, and when Liz tells her "We don't need men", Jenna replies "Yeah, let's go lez".
--->'''Jenna:''' Jack, if it would help the show, I would be willing to "go country".\
'''Liz:''' "Go country"? What does that mean?\
'''Jenna:''' It's a totally legitimate career move, Liz. The best way for a lady to get heat in this industry is to either record a country album ''(locks eye contact with Liz)'' or have a lesbian relationship.\
'''Jack:''' Uh, we'll start with "going country".
* Inverted for laughs in one ''Series/AlasSmithAndJones'' dialogue, where Griff basically tells Mel "it would only be disgusting if it was with you".
* ''Series/{{Arrow}}''. All of the on-screen romances of Felicity Smoak are with men, but she admits to being into Sara Lance flirting with her.
-->'''Felicity:''' I was wondering if you were secretly flirting with me all those times you said I was cute.\
'''Sara:''' ''(flirty look)'' Why, are you into it?\
'''Felicity:''' Of course -- it's you. ''(they hug)''
* In ''Series/BlackSails'', WordOfGod has identified [[spoiler:Captain James Flint as gay, and his relationship with Miranda an example of the trope.]]
* Creator/RussellTDavies, writer of the below-mentioned ''Series/{{Torchwood}}'' example, had earlier written a series called ''Series/BobAndRose'' about a gay man who realizes he's in love with a woman and their struggle to make a relationship work. (Davies has always been vocal [[EveryoneIsBi against the idea of 'monosexuality']].)
** The example from ''Series/{{Torchwood}}'' has to do with a one-off line that the character of Ianto says to a friend: "it's not men, it's just him [Captain Jack Harkness, the star of the series]". But Ianto is a workaholic nerd, so this line should be taken with a grain of salt (and indeed, Ianto's friend doesn't really buy it). It's just as likely he was bi all along, and simply hadn't thought that carefully about his sexuality. If this trope actually is in effect, then it's partially justified because Captain Jack Harkness comes from the future where humans apparently have different pheromones. Essentially everything with a nose wants to boink him and Jack never says no. Jack's love affairs tend to be horrendously shallow almost to the point of being creepy, but that is decidedly not the case with Ianto. They have a deep platonic and emotional connection, which Jack explicitly says he's never had with anyone else: he suspects that Ianto is his [[OneTrueLove true love]]. The rest of the team pretty much concurs and makes a point not to interfere in the relationship (to Ianto's relief and Jack's consternation).
* ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer'':
** In a slight variation on this trope, "[[Recap/BuffyTheVampireSlayerS5E14Crush Crush]]" includes this line from Harmony to Spike: "No threesomes unless it's boy, boy, girl. Or Creator/CharlizeTheron."
** After Willow decided she was strictly lesbian, she still had feelings for Oz, so this trope probably applies late in Season 4.
** PlayedForLaughs in "[[Recap/BuffyTheVampireSlayerS7E6Him Him]]". A guy named R.J. has a magic jacket that makes any woman who sees him wearing it fall in love with him. This includes Willow.
--->'''Buffy:''' Willow, you're a gay woman. And he -- isn't!\
'''Willow:''' This isn't about his physical presence! It's about his heart!\
'''Anya:''' His physical presence has a ''penis!''\
'''Willow:''' I can work around it!
** If Willow had succeeded with her plan later in the episode, to turn RJ into a woman to get around this for herself, it would have turned RJ into an example of this for every straight woman in town who would ''still'' be irresistibly attracted to "her".
* In ''Series/CoronationStreet'', Maria finds herself falling for her gay friend Marcus. After she tells him, Marcus surprises himself by realizing he is both emotionally and sexually attracted to her, and they begin a relationship. Marcus continues to see himself as gay and is resentful toward his parents when they suddenly contact him again after decades of rejection for being gay. After a year or so together, Marcus is drawn into an affair with another man, with heartbroken Maria walking in on them in true soap fashion.
* Paige and Alex in ''Series/DegrassiTheNextGeneration''. Paige identifies as straight, with Alex as her one exception, while [[ClosetKey dating Paige helped Alex realize she was a lesbian]].
* [[Series/DirtyJobs Mike Rowe]] once got an email from a male fan who wrote: "I am secure in my heterosexuality, and I have to say Damn I've got a man-crush on Mike Rowe".
* ''Series/{{Emmerdale}}'''s Debbie and Jasmine seem to fall into this category. Their friendship twice turned into a romantic relationship and they were practically portrayed as each other's soul mates, yet neither of them ever showed an interest in any other girl and both slept with several male characters. Debbie remained on the show for a number of years after her emotional breakup with Jasmine (also Jasmine's exit storyline), but only once was their relationship mentioned -- when she and several other women in her family talked about their romantic feelings for other women after another relative came out as gay. They essentially treating the feelings as a phase.
* ''Series/FeelGood'': George says if she broke up with Mae she'd probably date only guys again. She's never been attracted to women (or AFAB people, since Mae turns out to be nonbinary) except her. George doesn't want to tell anyone about their relationship, increasingly annoying Mae, until at last she spills this accidentally in the hospital while doped up.
* In ''Series/TheFirstShopOfCoffeePrince'', Han Kyul initially believes that Eun Chan is a guy and angsts over having fallen in love with ([[SweetOnPollyOliver who he thinks is]]) another man but decides that Eun Chan's gender doesn't matter to him. As he tells Eun Chan, "I like you. Whether you're a man or an alien... I don't care anymore."
* Kalinda on ''Series/TheGoodWife'' turns everyone's head.
--> '''Cary:''' I know a lot of people who weren’t anything until they met Kalinda.
* In ''Series/{{Hannibal}}'', this applies to both of the main characters. It's emphasized throughout the series that Hannibal is a narcissist who isn't capable of loving anyone or thing besides himself. However, it's revealed in Season 3 that [[spoiler: Will is the one exception to this rule and unlike every other partner Hannibal is connected to, Will is the only one he ''loves'' or even remotely cares about. And in the series finale, it's also confirmed that Will (who is otherwise straight) reciprocates Hannibal's romantic feelings.]]
* Series/{{Hollyoaks}}, Craig Dean is straight, he just loves John Paul.
* ''Series/HowIMetYourMother'':
** Lily has a crush on Robin. When Lily is having second thoughts about getting married, she tells Robin about all the things she wanted to do before marriage but never got the chance -- like taking up painting professionally, traveling, or having a lesbian "experiment". Robin's answer to this is to plant a girl-on-girl kiss on Lily's lips, which is accepted with a smile. Lily is, quite frankly, [[ActorAllusion even gayer than Willow.]] Up to and including trying to get her husband into a threesome with Robin and in the same episode starts tearing off her clothes after kissing her.
--->'''Lily:''' Robin Scherbatsky is many things: friend; confidant; occasional guest star in some confusing dreams that remind me a woman's sexuality is a moving target…
** In "The Three Day Rule," Marshall and Barney both admit that they're kinda gay for Ted. And by "admit that" we mean "repeatedly attempt to engage Ted in sexting (posing as a woman he just met) and get into a fight about which of them would be more sexually compatible with Ted before realizing what they're saying."
* ''Series/KillingEve'': It's left a bit up-in-the-air whether Eve is into Villanelle like ''that'', but a couple of characters certainly think she is, and the creator has described the two women's first meeting as a LoveAtFirstSight scenario. If her obsession with Villanelle is indeed sexual or romantic, it appears Eve's preference is "men, or Villanelle," since when Bill asks her if she's bisexual, she says she's never really been into women like that.
* In an episode of ''Series/MyHero2000'' George's shapely [[ArrangedMarriage arranged bride]] comes to Earth. Mrs. Raven declares "I'm straight, and even ''I'' fancy her!"
* On ''Series/TheJerrySpringerShow'' After the reveal that their lover is transgender, some will still continue with the relationship, while others will break up.
** Such being the case with a man named Gucci and his transgender lover Coco who ''proposed'' to her on live TV even after the discovery that she was born a man and transitioned later in life. Gucci also insists to Jerry Springer and the audience that he "isn't gay now" but he still loves Coco and wants to be with her.
** An online relationship is taken into real life, when the completely predictable occurs; she reveals she's a transgender female who was born male, and admits this to the man who's been pursuing her interest. However, instead of storming out or being disgusted, the guy's response is "I'll try anything once", before kissing her.
* In the ''Series/TheKingOfQueens'' episode "The Mild Bunch", a lipstick lesbian and a gay man meet and inexplicably hook up behind their "dates" Danny and Spence's backs, citing that they met an an Out parade and have a "special relationship" with each other. Much to Spence and Danny's confusion.
* ''Series/LovecraftCountry'': Ruby returns [[spoiler:Christina]]'s attraction while the latter is in female form, implying this (or maybe [[AmbiguouslyBi she's bisexual]]).
* The latest season of ''Series/NipTuck'' features an interesting variation on this trope. Liz Cruz, who up to this point has been a committed lesbian, discovers she's sexually attracted to her male boss Christian (but not any other guys).
* On ''Series/NewGirl'', there is a character names Sadie who is a lesbian. When she's pregnant, however, she became attracted to Schmidt after hearing him describe his foreplay techniques. Sadie finds herself turned on by their sexually driven conversation, admitting weakly, "It's the baby hormones. They are not as gay as me."
* In ''Series/NowApocalypse'', party-attending Ulysses meets a variation of the [[ManicPixieDreamGirl Manic Pixie Dream Girl]] -- quirky, adorable, and gay-conquering. When he tells her he's gay, she grabs his aroused crotch to show him just how interested he actually is. After their frantic encounter, we are not only told that she's slept with lots of gay men, but that he's the best ever, as he goes down on her. They're about to start up again when he has to leave. Never let it be said that Araki doesn't enjoy reminding us of how much some super special gay men love the ladies (see Kaboom).
* Michael Scott on ''Series/{{The Office|US}}'' has this for Ryan Howard. It seems to start in ''The Dundies'' when he gives Ryan the "Hottest in the Office" Award (complete with a pat on the butt) and grows throughout season two. Other notable examples would be when Michael says he'd have sex with Ryan during a game of "Who would you do?" in ''The Fire'', and in the cold open of ''The Carpet'' when Michael stares salaciously at Ryan while he's filling in for Pam at reception. In ''The Deposition'', it is revealed that Michael even writes about Ryan in his diary.
* ''Series/OrangeIsTheNewBlack'': Morello for Nicky. Morello is entirely heterosexual prior to her incarceration, and after Nicky is sent to maximum security in season 3, she begins corresponding via snail-mail with men in the outside world in order to fill the void, and adds these male pen-pals to her visitation list, rather than attempting to find a new girlfriend within the prison. She even breaks down and cries in front of one of her male visitors and tells him that the one girl she cared about got sent away.
* ''Series/OrphanBlack'' has Delphine, who explicitly states she's never been with a woman before and is surprised about her attraction to Cosima. Though, she does mention the possibility of bisexuality, so Cosima might have just been her ClosetKey and she hasn't yet dated other women.
* Bongo in ''Series/RedDwarf'' episode Dimension Jump: "I've been happily married for 35 years. It's just, a chap like you can turn a guy's head." Of course, that 'chap' was Ace Rimmer. [[EvenTheGuysWantHim What a guy]]!
* Subverted in ''Series/{{Scrubs}}'', Carla claims to be attracted to the incredibly hot female drug rep Julie, and suggests to Turk that she may be open to them having a threesome with her. She admits to JD she just says that to give Turk a fun fantasy, but then notices Turk talking to Julie and pointing at her. Julie waves at Carla who nervously waves back, and JD tells her "You can't give a guy that kind of opening".
* Some fans of ''Series/RizzoliAndIsles'' feel that the main characters have this kind of relationship with each other; they are portrayed as heterosexual in every depicted romantic relationship they have in the show, but many fans feel that the chemistry between them is so intense that Jane and Maura would be gay for each other only.
* ''Series/{{Sherlock}}'': [[CelibateHero Sherlock Holmes]] and [[FemmeFatale Irene Adler]] seem to have this attitude towards one another: the former is otherwise [[MarriedToTheJob married to his work]] and the latter is a lesbian. Additionally, [[ShipperOnDeck Irene]] seems convinced that [[HaveIMentionedIAmHeterosexualToday adamantly heterosexual John Watson]] feels this way about Sherlock.
-->'''John:''' Who the hell knows about Sherlock Holmes, but for the record, if anyone out there still cares -- I'm not actually gay.\
'''Irene Adler:''' Well, I ''am''. Look at us both.
* In ''Series/SlingsAndArrows'', gay actor Patrick is cast as Romeo opposite straight actor Sarah as Juliet, and to begin with they have zero chemistry, not helped by director Darren Nichols' bizarre decision to stage the play as a highly stylised chess match in which none of the actors look at each other. As rehearsals go on, the two start to bond out of their shared unhappiness with the production, and they start running scenes in private so that they can get a sense of what it would be like to do the play with feeling. Sure enough, such is the Power of Shakespeare that pretty soon they're tearing each other's clothes off.[[note]]This ends up feeding into the production itself; eventually, even InsufferableGenius Darren admits that he's not made of stone, throws out his original idea and lets them do the play as a passionate tragic romance, to everyone's immense satisfaction.[[/note]]
* ''Series/SouthOfNowhere'': Rare heterosexual example: Ashley is outspoken about "Not believing in labels" but is only shown being attracted to girls. And her on and off again boyfriend Aiden. Although he questions her dedication to him: "You only want me around when you want to be straight!" She denies it, conveniently forgetting that she [[IResembleThatRemark still has a picture of her ex-girlfriend on her dresser.]]
* A RunningGag on ''Series/SportsNation'' is that Colin Cowherd has a crush on New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. Occasionally, when Cowherd talks about Brady, a clip of him saying "I love Tom Brady" will pop up on-screen.
* Series/StarTrekDeepSpaceNine:
** In "Profit and Lace", Quark is forced to do a gender-swap and pose as a female. Every male Ferengi he encounters (even his own family) comments on what a lovely female he makes, to the point where the Nagus (who knows he's really Quark) can't keep his hands off him and a prominent businessman is completely smitten with him (even after being told Quark is really male).
* Sugar of ''Series/SugarRush'' only likes men as a general rule and [[ReallyGetsAround will sleep with most of them without a second thought]], but eventually ends up sleeping with her best friend Kim (who is gay, and whose powerful crush on Sugar drives the plot of the first season). It only happens once, and afterwards, Kim eventually gets over Sugar. However, there are several hints that Sugar does genuinely fall in love with Kim following this incident, as evidenced by her jealousy over Kim's new girlfriend, Saint, and her behaviour in the series finale.
* In ''Series/{{Supergirl 2015}}'', Alex Danvers, a lesbian, said she was slightly attracted to Superman. (Of course, it's '''Superman''', there's pretty much only one type of person who doesn't find him attractive, and that's "people named Lex Luthor.")
* According to ''Series/{{Torchwood}}: [[Series/TorchwoodChildrenOfEarth Children of Earth]]'', Ianto Jones isn't really gay. [[EventheGuysWantHim Jack]] is just special[[note]]"It's not men; it's just ''him''"[[/note]]. Although, later on Clem can smell the queerness of him, so whether he's being honest to his sister may be left up in the air, especially as it's later established that he lied to his teammates about his family.
** The novels have him making out with a man. While he's in a woman's body.
* ''Series/TwoAndAHalfMen'':
** Alan, who is straight, once admitted that he finds Creator/GeorgeClooney sexually attractive. (The gay man he was speaking to informed him "Clooney doesn't count".)
** In Season 11, Jenny Harper picks up a girl in a bar that isn't a lesbian without revealing that she herself is a lesbian. Walden even calls it the "lesbian zombie" virus.
* In ''Series/WeirdCity'', Burt and Stu are two heretofore heterosexual men who are paired together in a dating service. Assuming it was a mistake, they try to get their money back, but find themselves drawn to each other and fall into bed, leading to a relationship and finally marriage. They are then told that the results actually were a mistake, but ultimately still choose to be together. Somewhat averted as Burt learns that the dating service's ideal partner for him was still a man.
* ''Series/WillAndGrace'':
** Although never explicitly shown, Karen and Jack seem to have this type of relationship. Although Jack is a gay man (and one who frequently states his disgust at heterosexuality) it is implied that he and Karen frequently engage in sexual activity with one another.
--->'''Jack:''' I don't know, Karen.\
'''Karen:''' I'll let you make out with me in the elevator.\
'''Jack:''' Okay!
** And on a similar note, Karen seems to have the "if it's you it's okay" rule for [[BlondeBrunetteRedhead Grace. And Rosario. And Martina Navratilova]]. That might be Karen as UnreliableNarrator, though. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWEskkF4dKA&feature=my_liked_videos&list=LL99E3ZhTOBPmYyc6aX5zA0A "I was straight before I met you!"]]
** In the revival, we get Grace's sister Janet meeting Donna, a sexy, confident LipstickLesbian with whom Grace works. Despite Janet never having any interest in women, she has a ''[[SexGoddess fantastic]]'' night with her, and expresses an interest in seeing her again. She admits to Grace she isn't sure if she's gay, but she thinks Donna's really cool -- and [[TooMuchInformation fantastic in bed]]. Amusingly, the "romance" began thus:
--->'''Donna:''' Have a drink with me?\
'''Janet:''' Sure, but I'm straight.\
'''Donna:''' Are you?\
'''Janet:''' Yes.\
'''Donna:''' Are you?\
'''Janet:''' Yes.\
'''Donna:''' ''Are you''?\
''[{{Beat}}.]''\
'''Janet:''' ...You tell me.
* In ''Series/OneDayAtATime2017'', EMT Mac Ferrero is so hot, even Elena, a lesbian, acknowledges how hot he is.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Manhwa]]
* Xing Bairong of ''Manhwa/WitchHunter'' fits this profile as of a recent character bio page, in which he is described as being interested in "sexy girls with hot bodies" and disliking "guys, with the strange exception of Tasha Godspell".
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Music]]
* There is a band called [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_for_Johnny_Depp Gay for]] Creator/JohnnyDepp.
* Music/OfMontreal has a song called "Tim, I Wish You Were Born A Girl".
* "Wayne Gretzky" by Goldfinger.
* Comes up practically verbatim in "Let's Be Honest" by Music/{{Vocaloid}} group Project Overdoze, in which Miku and Luka both contemplate their romantic feelings for each other and whether they feel comfortable with the idea of having their WillTheyOrWontThey-style relationship become fully realized.
-->Let's be honest, let's be honest
-->I really wanna feel that way
-->Let's be honest, let's be honest
-->Well if it's you I guess I could be gay
* "Dude Looks Like a Lady" by Music/{{Aerosmith}}. Sure it's about a WholesomeCrossdresser, but it still fits. The implicitly straight falls for a "girl" at a bar and takes her backstage. There he discovers the truth right before "consummating" the relationship and decides to go through with it anyway because, well, he ''is'' pretty damn hot.
* "Lola" written by Ray Davies and performed by Music/TheKinks. Almost.
* Music/BelleAndSebastian's "Seeing Other People" is all about this trope, although at least one of its two characters is severely self-deluded. "We lay on the bed there/Kissing just for practice..."
* Music/TheMagneticFields' "Andrew in Drag" is narrated by a straight man reminiscing about the time his (also straight) friend Andrew did drag for fun, and realizing that Andrew in drag is, in fact, the only woman he's ever truly loved; over the course of the song, the title is rhymed with "A pity she does not exist/A shame he's not a fag" and "There is no hope of love for me/From here on I'll go stag". Of course, the irony here is that the song is written and sung by the openly gay Stephin Merritt.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Podcasts]]
* One Creator/RoosterTeeth podcast told about how a drunk Creator/GavinFree told a very sober Creator/MontyOum that "he's usually isn't into guys" but, "if he had a boner for him, it was really trying."
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Pro Wrestling]]
* Wrestling/DaizeeHaze is a wrestler who refuses to date her coworkers but would make an exception for [[Wrestling/EvanBourne Matt Sydal]].[[/folder]]

[[folder:Roleplay]]
* ''Roleplay/WeAreOurAvatars''
** The normally straight Daniel is attracted to Oryx.
** Shane falls in love with Demon Asagi, but Shane's a homosexual. Like Xavin, Demon!Asagi bent his/her gender to accommodate for Shane.
* ''Roleplay/TheMadScientistWars'' has two somewhat unique examples of this. One is Xerox, who is now married to Jess 'The Chimera' -- a shapeshifter. Regardless of whether she's shifted to a boy or whatever he's cool. The other is CoolOldGuy (s) Dr. Viktor and Dr. Io, who may both be this for each other...
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Theatre]]
* Invoked in Lanford Wilson's monologue play ''A Poster of the Cosmos''.
* Depending on the production of ''Cabaret'', this can be Cliff's relationship with Sally.
* ''Theatre/PrinceKaguya'': [[spoiler:San]] tells [[spoiler:Kaguya]] it "doesn't matter" to him if he is a man or a woman.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Video Games]]
* ''{{VideoGame/Catherine}}'':
** The ''[[UpdatedRerelease Full Body]]'' version has an option for Vincent to ditch the love triangle he's stuck in and [[ThirdOptionLoveInterest romance newcomer Rin instead.]] However, he makes that decision only after [[spoiler: he [[UnsettlingGenderReveal accidentally finds out Rin actually male.]]]] After some introspection, Vincent realizes that being with Rin makes him happy, [[spoiler: because he feels he can be himself around him. He also realizes that gender doesn't matter to him, and even outs himself as bisexual to his friends.]] While this isn't too unusual, Rin's True Ending certainly is. [[spoiler: Rin is actually a member of a race of shapeshifting AngelicAliens, and merely his human form is an androgynous male. His ''real'' form is a cute little pink blob with a glowing antennae, so there might not even ''be'' a word that accurately describes what gender Rin truly is.]] By that point, however, Vincent is long past caring, and practically says this trope verbatim.
** [[spoiler: Toby and Erica's]] relationship could be this as well. In ''Catherine'', Toby is Squicked out when he discovers that [[spoiler: his girlfriend Erica is transgender and she used to be known as "Eric" back in high school]] and Toby bemoans that he wants his V-card back. However, in ''Full Body'', it's revealed that they're still dating despite Erica's [[spoiler:transgender revelation]] -- the revelation in Rin's route actually shows Toby relaxing even more about the idea, and talking happily about how Erica painted his nails as a couple's activity.
* Adell from ''VideoGame/{{Disgaea 2|CursedMemories}}'' makes it known that he's a fan of neither demons nor [[HeManWomanHater women]] (both a result of a past trauma relating to a [[SuccubiAndIncubi Succubus]]). He makes an exception to both cases for Rozalin.
* Fenris of ''Videogame/DragonAgeII'' could be considered an example of this, if romanced by a mage Hawke. Despite having a deep [[DarkAndTroubledPast (albeit justified)]] hatred of magic, and an [[HatesBeingTouched aversion to physical contact]] (once again, [[AcheyScars justified]]), he is willing to put this aside in order to be with Hawke. [[spoiler:If Mage Hawke sides with mages in the final battle, despite his fear and hatred of magic in general Fenris helps Hawke without a second thought to support the one he loves.]]
* Sera invokes this in ''VideoGame/DragonAgeInquisition'' if she's dating an Elven Inquisitor. Due to elves being so skinny and her [[BoomerangBigot many issues with elven culture and the Dalish]], she admits that she doesn't usually go for other elves. She makes an exception for an Elven Inquisitor she doesn't find "too elfy." However, she continues to make bitter remarks about other elves and the Dalish ([[YouKnowImBlackRight even though Lavellan is Dalish]]) and disapproves even when the Inquisitor helps other elves (even ''city'' elves), making it clear that she likes you ''only'' as long as you act as non-elven as possible. [[spoiler: After visiting a major elven ruin she makes some very nasty remarks about the elven religion and history being fake and worthless, and ''expects'' Lavellan to agree with her. If you refuse to agree, she dumps you.]]
* PlayedforLaughs by Literature/ThePhantomOfTheOpera in ''VideoGame/FateGrandOrder'' during the Almost Weekly Santa Alter event, in which he laments having to spend [[UsefulNotes/ChristmasInJapan Christmas]] in the company of solely men, only to come on to the canonically male protagonist in his next set of lines.
* ''Videogame/FireEmblemThreeHouses'' has a handful of characters who are mostly straight with a single gay option.
** Lindhart is the gender reversed example, with only straight romance options, with the exception of a male protagonist.
** While Dorothea is canonically bisexual, having many female love interests she can pursue (including a female Byleth), she is the only female love interest for Petra.
* ''Franchise/MassEffect'' has several variants:
** The turian Garrus Vakarian becomes a romance option in ''VideoGame/MassEffect2'' for female Shepards. He notes that [[HumansAreUgly he doesn't have a "human fetish"]]; he just really digs Shepard. And is seriously confused about how their relationship works.
** The OneGenderRace asari seem to provoke this reaction from pretty much ''everyone''. Sha'ira, the asari "Consort" from the first game, appears to be wildly popular with both male and even some female humans, and there are at least hints that it's not limited to her. For example, one of the "background" characters you overhear in the third game is a female marine whose male compatriots are a little weirded out by her desire to join them on a "boys' night" watching hot asari dancers.[[note]]The character's "human" sexual preferences are left somewhat ambiguous except that she is very sexually aggressive.[[/note]] Another background character is a human female cheating on her husband with an asari. In the second game, you can see a human, a turian, and a salarian on the salarian's bachelor party. They are watching an asari exotic dancer and the salarian is explaining how his species is asexual and marriage is more like a business contract...but finds him slowly being DistractedByTheSexy.
** If you talk to [[DeadlyDoctor Mordin]], the salarian doctor/scientist a lot, sometimes he thinks you are trying to woo him (if you're not romancing anyone else on the ship). He tells Shepard that he's not interested, because the salarian sex drive is generally dormant outside specified mating periods. However, he remarks in the same breath that if he ''would'' ever get it on with a human, said human would be Shepard, [[HoYay regardless of gender]]. Furthermore, asari are apparently capable of awakening a salarian's dormant sex drive.
** On the human side (and a more relatable/traditional example) we have the Male!Shepard / Kaidan romance with dialogue that indicates this is out of the norm for both of them. This is probably used to [[AuthorsSavingThrow justify]] why a Male!Shepard can't romance Kaidan in the first game even though Fem!Shepard can.
** Let's just say that Shepard is this for pretty much everyone. S/he's basically a human asari, and could probably romance a Reaper with minimal effort if s/he wanted to.
* Possibly Kaz and Big Boss in ''VideoGame/MetalGearSolidPeaceWalker'' dating missions.
** That said, Big Boss's superpower seems to be being the personification of EvenTheGuysWantHim if Revolver Ocelot's application of GaussianGirl every time he lays eyes on BB is of any indication. Kaz probably fell victim to it as well.
* In ''VideoGame/Persona3 [[UpdatedRerelease Portable]]'', Ryoji tells the [[DistaffCounterpart Female Protagonist]] that he'd probably like her even if she were a boy. Makes the HoYay between him and the Male Protagonist make a lot more sense. Can also be famously [[InvokedTrope invoked]] by the player character (of either gender and either preference).
* Subverted in ''VideoGame/Persona4'', the AmbiguouslyBi Kanji instantly crushes on the male-presenting Naoto, which, coupled with his 'unmasculine' interests, flares up Kanji's insecurity that he might be attracted to men. But even after Naoto reveals herself to be female, he still remains attracted to her.
* In ''VideoGame/SaintsRowIV'', all romance options are available to both genders, even when the love interest in question has shown absolutely zero attraction to that gender before, implying that this trope is in effect. Invoked with Pierce, who says that he "usually doesn't swing that way" before accepting… [[AmbiguouslyGay regardless of the player's gender]].
** It's implied on several occasions that Pierce is both bisexual and absolutely terrified of [[NightmareFuelStationAttendant The Boss.]] So it's possible that his normal orientation is just [[InvertedTrope whatever The Boss isn't]] (though that doesn't explain why the Boss themself would be his sole exception). Another interpretation is that he normally doesn't swing any way at all and the Boss is his sole exception to ''that'' (recall that in ''Saint's Row 2'', his immediate reaction to seeing a stripper was to say she had nice shoes).
* ''VideoGame/SouthParkTheFracturedButWhole'': The Raisins Girls' Charm ability works even on straight girls, gay boys, and asexuals. The New Kid can also use the Charm ability on any enemy regardless of gender or orientation.
* Almost every bachelor/bachelorette in ''Videogame/StardewValley'' follows this if you romance them since they're all available regardless of the farmer's gender. The one exception is Leah, whose ex Kel will be mentioned and eventually show up, being the same gender as the farmer. In other words, if you're male, Leah will be heterosexual, whereas if you're female, she will be homosexual, and always have been that.
* Played with (maybe?) in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration'': [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsCompact2 Excellen]] [[CoolBigSis Browning]] makes an off-hand comment on making an exception for [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsAlpha Viletta]] [[FemmeFatale Vadim]]. While Excellen [[SingleTargetSexuality is definitely straight]], considering [[TheTease the kind]] [[ManicPixieDreamGirl of person]] [[HardDrinkingPartyGirl she is]] and how the fandom actively [[ExtremeOmnisexual portrays]] her, it's possible she isn't invoking this for laughs.
** ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsV'' continues [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSeed Athrun Zala's]] status as a legendary ChickMagnet by being such an impressive one that all of the girls from ''Anime/CrossAnge'' are smitten with him despite most of them being lesbians.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Visual Novels]]
* Played relatively straight in ''VisualNovel/DontTakeItPersonallyBabeItJustAintYourStory'', when friendless loner Nolan reciprocates the advances of camp gay classmate Akira on the grounds that having someone that interested in him romantically makes him warm and fuzzy inside. As they gradually segue into a standard couple, whether this is a case of Sole Exception or ClosetKey for Nolan is left an open question.
* Tenko Chabashira, the Ultimate Aikido Master from ''VisualNovel/DanganronpaV3KillingHarmony'', is a possible case. Her [[DoesNotLikeMen misandry]] and fondness for [[CuteWitch Himiko Yumeno]] make it clear that she likes women. However, Tenko seems more willing to tolerate boys a bit more when they take up Neo-Aikido, a martial arts she developed with the head priest of a temple her parents sent her to (and that head priest would become her master). In her Love Suite Event, Tenko directly tells Shuichi that he has defeated her in a Neo-Aikido sparring match, and is free to do whatever he wants to her because of this. She then admits that she challenged Shuichi to the sparring match because she is in love with him, suggesting that Tenko may have a heavily repressed romantic attraction to boys. This makes sense since her misandry does not stem from any actual trauma (like Mahiru's attitude towards boys did), but rather from gullibility on her part; her master, a male, is suggested to be joking around when he told her that a boy touching her weakens her moves, as does being too excited for Valentine's Day and Christmas and eating more than three sweets a day, and Tenko took all this at face value.
* ''VisualNovel/KaraNoShoujo'': Mizuhara admits to herself early on that she's in love with Toko, but doesn't want to mention it because neither of them is a lesbian and thus the relationship has no real chance.
* At one point in ''VisualNovel/LittleBusters'', Riki, who as the protagonist of a BishoujoGame is definitely into girls, admits to having feelings for Kyousuke but denies it outwardly. When Kyousuke says something that seems to indicate he has feelings for Riki too, he is shocked:
-->'''Riki:''' Mutual love?! What should I do…? Kyousuke likes me too… we're both guys, but it's Kyousuke, so...
* The "Only You" ending of ''VisualNovel/SchoolDays'''s ''Cross Days'' expansion. When Makoto Itou learns that the beautiful "Yuu" is none other than a cross-dressed Yuuki Ashikaga, Yuuki tries to run away, only for Makoto to stop him:
-->'''Yuuki''': I'm a boy! You know that now! So why...
-->'''Makoto''': (embraces Yuuki from behind) I know but... I still love you.
* In ''VisualNovel/SteinsGate'' Daru takes a look at Ruka in drag and states "Balls or not man, I would so hit that."
* In ''VisualNovel/YearningAGayStory'''s secret ending, [[spoiler:the straight Adam falls for the male protagonist despite being unable to think of himself as gay or bi and not being turned on by any of the gay porn Carlos showed him as an experiment]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Web Animation]]
* Said nearly word for word by Ruby when she tries kissing Weiss in a ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'' manga story where she's desperate to find a boyfriend. Weiss pushes her away.
* Red of ''WebAnimation/OverlySarcasticProductions'' summarizes [[Myth/ClassicalMythology Artemis]]' romance with Orion:
-->"The point is, Artemis' primary defining feature is no boyfriends ever, except for that one time."
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Web Comics]]
* A variant appears in ''Webcomic/The10Doctors''. Romana ends up comatose in a hospital where [[Recap/DoctorWhoTVMTheTVMovie Grace Holloway]] is working. When Grace realises that Romana has two hearts, she deduces that she is a Time Lady and assumes that she is the Doctor regenerated into a female body. After some brief soul searching, she decides that she has feelings for the Doctor whether he's a man or a woman, and kisses Romana just as she wakes up. When they sort everything out, they're both deeply embarrassed.
* Used to the point of ridiculousness in the otherwise excellent ''Webcomic/{{Arcana}}'', where two of [[strike:{{uke}}]] Holden's [[strike:{{seme}}s]] love interests, Sloane and Dominic, both claim to be straight, and his former [[strike:seme]] lover, Vincent, is only gay as a [[OurVampiresAreDifferent side effect of his vampirism]].{{Justified|Trope}} in that Holden was [[spoiler:imbued with a portion of Arcana's power as a child]], the effects of which caused everyone he met to be attracted to him. Also, Vincent didn't turn gay as a result of his vampirism: he was just [[PsychicLink mentally taken over]] by [[DepravedBisexual Adonis]].
* In ''Webcomic/BoyMeetsBoy'', Cy is heterosexual except for his infatuation with his best friend Skids. This was confirmed by [[WordofGod K. Sandra Fuhr]]
* In ''Buttsmithy'' (formerly called ''Alfie''), two of the caravan guards are a duo named Lydia and Marco. Both are attractive, both are competent, both are long term best buds, and both just love the ladies. At one point during a threesome with another female, Lydia decides to see what's so great about Marco's male parts. After an extremely and mutually satisfying experience, Lydia gazes into his eyes, and... slaps him upside the head and laughs, just to diffuse the tension. Lydia is not very good at dealing with emotions; it takes her the rest of the chapter (and watching Marco risk his life and realizing how much he means to her) for her to accept that she's in love with her best friend.
* A bit of a theme in T. Campbell's comics, especially the women -- Liz for Trent Reznor, [[Webcomic/RipAndTeri Teri for Tatanya]], Belinda for Liz, [[Webcomic/PennyAndAggie Penny for Aggie]], [[Webcomic/PennyAndAggie Stan for Rich]], [[Webcomic/{{Fans}} Meighan for Tim, and]] [[Webcomic/{{Fans}} Rumy for Ally]]. According to WordOfGod, none of these characters (except possibly Stan and now definitely [[spoiler:Penny]]) are bisexual, so [[NoBisexuals there's no need to go there]].
* In ''Webcomic/DARASuperGirlyTopSecretComicDiary'' this becomes quite central to the story's plot with Erika, an out and proud lesbian, falling in love with a man and having a sexual identity crisis about it. She eventually decides that it doesn't matter and settles for calling herself "queer".
* ''Webcomic/ElGoonishShive''
** Susan, who is heavily implied to be asexual and definitely has a [[HatesBeingTouched heavy aversion to physical contact]], develops a confusing crush on her friend Elliot. Note that Susan actually ''is'' asexual -- or at least, can't imagine herself having sex at all -- but is ''not'' aromantic. When Diane asks her why she'd never gone on a date, Susan thinks about the subject hard, apparently for the first time in her life; [[spoiler:she realizes she finds both Elliot and Catalina attractive, at the very least (they being the two people who she thought about first), and even finds thinking about the two of them 'doing things' to be a turn-on, but gets violently disturbed trying to imagine ''herself'' engaged in such acts.]]
-->'''Susan:''' ''(thinking)'' [[spoiler: Sexy Elliot? Good. Sexy. Sexy Catalina? Still pretty good… Huh… Sexy Elliot AND Catalina? ''YES.'' ME doing "things" with either or both of them? '''''NOPE.''''']]
** Diane has a RunningGag were she [[https://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=1697 very unsubtly]] [[https://www.egscomics.com/comic/2017-10-27 has a crush on Nanase]]. Given Diane's GoldDigger attitude and the fact that it's [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer Nanase]], no one [[https://www.egscomics.com/comic/tlod-014 thinks anything of it]], including herself. [[spoiler:As it would happen, Diane would eventually figure out that she's actually bisexual after her friend Lucy admitted that she has a crush on her. She ends up going on a date with Lucy, although [[https://www.egscomics.com/comic/party-231 the crush on Nanase didn't go away]].]]
* Keti from ''Webcomic/{{Footloose}}'' for [[spoiler:An Calibairne]]… maybe. She's certainly bothered by being attracted to a girl, but the "creatrices" will rebuke any attempt to label her, and [[EveryoneCanSeeIt no one else in the strip is surprised]].
* There is an interesting subversion in ''Webcomic/FriendlyHostility''. Collin claims many times he's asexual (he genuinely seems to hate people and can be downright misogynistic at times) and he just likes Fox but later he just realizes he's gay.
* ''Webcomic/GrrlPower'' has succubus Dabbler neutralizing supervillain Jabberwocky with a magic kiss -- which also made her obsessed with Dabbler and led to her being restrained in a cell until the spell wore off. As of strip #910 they're still dating, even though Jabberwocky insists she's straight. This probably has something to do with Dabbler being the best kisser on Planet Earth.
** May also be a slight subversion. Jabberwocky: "I'm not even into women… well, one time at a party… well, most parties…"
* Possibly Jake English from ''Webcomic/{{Homestuck}}''. Despite otherwise seeming to show interest exclusively in women, he decides to give dating his gay best friend a shot.
** Defied with Dirk's feelings towards Roxy, [[spoiler:he does care about her (platonically), and in fact he says he ''wishes'' he could reciprocate her feelings, because he can see how much anguish her unrequited crush is causing her, but it just isn't in him to fall in love with a woman.]]
* In the now-defunct pornographic webcomic ''Karabound'', the eponymous Kara is a nominally straight woman and sexual submissive who ends up in a BDSM relationship with her female best friend Lexi. It seems that her attraction to Lexi is less to do with gender, and more with having a willing and trustworthy domme. Lexi herself is implied to be a lesbian or bisexual (she had previously experimented with other women) with Kara acting as her ClosetKey.
* In ''WebComic/KillSixBillionDemons'', Allison starts out with a boyfriend, and when the devil girl Cio kisses her later, she tells her she's not into women. The fact that Cio isn't a human also gives her pause. Flash forward one year, and Allison and Cio are in a relationship, or at least sleeping together.
* A running gag in ''Webcomic/LeastICouldDo'' is that Rayne, the ultimate womanizer, has a long-running crush on [[Film/TheLordOfTheRings Aragorn]].
** Also, a long-running gag on the [[HeterosexualLifePartners relationship]] between Rayne and Noel states that the two, while unabashedly straight, are borderline gay for only each other.
--->'''Noel:''' Kate asked me if you were my soul mate.\
'''Rayne:''' And what'd you tell her?\
'''Noel:''' The truth. That yes, you were. And that I was only with her instead of you because she has girl parts.\
'''Rayne:''' Sometimes I forget if we're gay or not.
** Rayne has had other gay encounters, likely meaning he's bisexual.
* {{Discussed|Trope}} in ''Webcomic/MagicalBoy'': Max, a gay transgender man, laments that his crush, the [[NiceGuy nice]] and cute StudentCouncilPresident Tobi, is probably straight. His best friend Jen suggests that maybe he'll make an exception for Max, but Max isn't keen on the idea since he doesn't want Tobi to see him as a woman. [[spoiler: Ultimately {{Averted|Trope}}, as when Max musters the courage to ask Tobi on a date in the final issue, Tobi does apologetically turn him down and confirm that he is straight.]]
* ''Webcomic/MagickChicks'':
** Tiffany [[http://www.eeriecuties.com/strips-ec/i_need_a_date has asserted that she's straight]], as evidenced by the number of times she's instantly become smitten with cute guys. She's even gone so far as to [[http://www.magickchicks.com/strips-mc/when_there_are_more_boys_around systematically rule out the possibility]] of being attracted to other girls, in general... except one. [[SmugSuper Faith]] [[TheHedonist Abbot]], who Tiffany sees as her arch-nemesis. As such, she doesn't feel she can trust Faith [[http://www.magickchicks.com/strips-mc/enjoying_the_perks because she's an esper]] and because [[ReallyGetsAround Faith sleeps around.]] Yet, despite all her misgivings, Tiffany [[http://www.magickchicks.com/strips-mc/omigawd can no longer deny being attracted to her]] and has begun to consider [[http://www.magickchicks.com/strips-mc/forces_of_darkness possibly accepting Faith's offer of a relationship.]]
** Faith, herself, appears to be the exact opposite: she's a lesbian and well known [[ThePornomancer for having shagged much of the student body]] at [[AllGirlSchool Artemis Academy.]] Yet, despite her inclination towards her own gender, Ash [[LampshadeHanging has been noted twice]] as [[http://www.magickchicks.com/strips-mc/touch_of_blonde the only]] [[http://www.magickchicks.com/strips-mc/official_girlfriend male]] she considers to be worth her attention and is the only one [[http://www.magickchicks.com/strips-mc/stop_teasing she's ever slept with.]]
* Played with in ''Webcomic/MenageA3'', though there, characters may be in denial about their bisexual impulses (which are widespread in the comic):
** [=DiDi=], whose sex appeal verges on the supernatural, seems to induce this in many women. Early on, the straight Sandra seeks to have an affair with her, though that ends badly. Then Sonya (see below) is drawn magnetically to her breasts. Then Peggy, who ExperimentedInCollege but who prefers men, very willingly offers [=DiDi=] PitySex, because with her that's no sacrifice. Later, when Kiley gives her an example of a hypothetical romantic proposition, [=DiDi=] is overwhelmed and proposes sex; Kiley accepts, though she hadn't shown any interest in women before.
** Conversely and ironically, [=DiDi=] herself, while sometimes unsure of her own sexuality, mostly pursues men. However, following that incident with Kiley, she decides that she's found the love of her life -- and hence that she is now, for practical purposes, a lesbian.
** After the expert seductress Zii gets the not-very-bright Sonya into bed, the latter spends a lot of time declaring that she's "not a lesbian" (including when Sonya is eating Zii out), but also that her heart belongs to Zii. However, it's obvious to anyone who knows what the words mean that she's functionally bisexual, with Zii as her ClosetKey. (She barely seems to have heard of the word herself; when she's reminded of it, she does acknowledge that it might suit her.) How she adjusts her self-image when she starts having sex with other women is unclear ([[spoiler:though given that the first other woman in question is her arch-enemy Yuki, there's plenty of scope for weird denial]]).
** Back when Angel and Zii were friends, Zii believed that Angel was strictly into women, and she tends to be clear on stuff like that -- but then it turned out that Angel was (and still is) [[LoveMakesYouCrazy obsessed]] with Jerzy. (Strip #862, March 13, 2014, NSFW.) Ironically, Jerzy says at that point that they were never a couple and their one night together was a mistake ([[spoiler:though things get a little bit complicated in that respect in the spinoff comic ''Webcomic/StickyDillyBuns'']]).
* Several examples in ''Webcomic/{{Misfile}}'':
** Ash is a boy who has suffered a long-term GenderBender and ''hates'' being in a woman's body. Emily is the only person (other than Rumisiel, the angel who accidentally caused this situation) who is aware of Ash's true nature, and she is the only person Ash feels comfortable being intimate (physically or otherwise) with.
--->'''Ash:''' (to Emily) Whoa, whoa, whoa! Wearing a girly bathing suit in front of you is one thing, but I don't want anyone else there. Especially not guys…
** The more straight example is Emily's feelings for Ash. The fans were debating for a while whether Emily was either gay or bisexual and possibly in denial about it, [[http://www.misfile.com/?date=2015-09-23 but then Emily made the nature of her feelings clear in no uncertain terms.]]
** Later on, Missi, who has spent nearly every comic since her introduction pining for Ash, [[http://www.misfile.com/?date=2011-06-13 admits]] that she doesn't even like girls... other than Ash.
* ''Webcomic/MyHusbandWasActuallyAWoman'': Wafuko is straight but she makes an exception for her cis wife.
* Agent 300 from Creator/{{Humon}}'s series ''Webcomic/{{Niels}}'' has two of these. The first one being the title character Niels (whom he flirts with often and even has erotic dreams about early on). The second one being his current boyfriend, although he denies being a true bisexual considering his love for women, the only meaningful relationship he's been in during the series' run is with agent 250.
* In ''Webcomic/OneOverZero'', the author made Terra, the sole female character of the cast, a lesbian to prevent any romantic relationships from forming between characters. This didn't stop Terra from falling in love with Zadok and agonizing over whether she's 'allowed' to love him without breaking her established identity.
* Beth and Trixie in ''Webcomic/OriginalLife'', at the end of the pornfolio comic they agree that they're not lesbians, and Trixie suggests they do it with one of her sort-of-boyfriends next time.
* In ''Webcomic/PixieTrixComix'', Julian initially identifies as entirely gay. But then he finds himself attracted to [[spoiler:Kiley]], and they soon begin a satisfactory sexual relationship. This is explained as not so much her being his one exception, as him having a specific ''type'' — [[spoiler:slim, blonde, and a bit androgynous]] — which usually draws him to men, but which she also fits.
* In ''Webcomic/Rain2010'', Rudy is solidly gay, but describes Rain as the exception and the only girl he could ever have feelings for. She questions whether he really likes her for her or for the fact that she has a penis (since she's a pre-op transsexual), but he insists that her anatomy has nothing to do with why he likes her.
* In ''WebComic/ScandinaviaAndTheWorld'', [[NiceGuy Norway]] seems relatively straight, but it goes out of the way with [[LovableSexManiac Denmark]], where Norway doesn't mind having sex or being groped by him. There's also his [[KissingCousins cousin]] [[ILoveTheDead Jan Mayhen.]]
* Robin of ''Webcomic/{{Shortpacked}}'' described herself as [[https://www.shortpacked.com/comic/exception "Straight. With an exception."]][[note]]The exception being Leslie, whom she'd just broken up with at this point.[[/note]] The readers knew this wasn't true, as her first girl-crush was on [[spoiler:Amber]]. Later in the series Robin describes herself as "[[https://shortpacked.com/comic/diversity-closet generally kinda undefinably queer]]."
* In ''Webcomic/SwordCatPrincess'', Erica displays no romantic or sexual interest in any of the female cast -- with the exception of Kathryn, with whom she flirts (musing on Kathryn's [[http://swordcatprincess.thecomicseries.com/comics/71/ "mannish" hands ruining the fantasy end of things]] for her). They later [[http://swordcatprincess.thecomicseries.com/comics/117/ share a lesbian kiss]] (and a lesbian much, much more).
* In ''Webcomic/TwoKinds'', Natani is effectively UsefulNotes/{{transgender}}, having a masculine mentality/self-image of himself due to needing part of his brother's soul patched onto his. Since his brother is a heterosexual male, in his mind, Natani is the same; even though his body suffers reproductive heats that give him strong urges to mate with males, he finds the idea gross on a conscious level. At the same time, though, he has fallen very strongly for fellow adventurer Keith, who is biologically and mentally male. This is giving Natani strong conflicting urges towards him. He seems to be having an easier time of things after [[spoiler: reconnecting with a 100% female piece of his soul cut off after his initial injury. ]] Since then, he's more at peace with his female body and urges (and his attraction to Keith).
* Xing of ''Webcomic/WitchHunter'' is a total ladies man, he is constantly hitting on them, flirting, chasing and taking his shirt off around them. He ''hates'' men, actively avoids them and all around wants nothing to do with them... Except for the male lead Tasha Godspell, who he is constantly hitting on and declaring his love for. Even Xing's close servant and bodyguard admits she has no clue what goes through Xing's head about Tasha.
* Lucas' feelings for Cadugan in ''Webcomic/YetAnotherFantasyGamerComic'' seem to fit this trope. It's possible Lucas is bisexual and is only discovering this now as his long-running SlapSlapKiss with Cadugan finally reached its happy conclusion. But he still seems to be attracted to women otherwise. [[http://yafgc.net/comic/1420-lucas-cards/ As he tells]] [[OurGhostsAreDifferent his father's ghost]], "You want to know if I like boys. I don't know. I like ''that'' boy. Though I am still interested in women."
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Web Original]]
* ''Literature/TheSagaOfTuck'' mostly averts this. Travis is attracted to [[spoiler:Valerie, but it's revealed that he thinks she's a transsexual, either post-op or on her way, which would make him straight but unprejudiced (as he knows.]]
* ''Literature/WhateleyUniverse'':
** Sara, alias Carmilla, is probably a subversion of this. She only has one male member of her "harem", but that was actually rather unwilling. He [[AttemptedRape tried to rape]] her... [[TooKinkyToTorture she prevented it by saying 'Okay']]. (She'd be a 6 on the Kinsey scale.)
** Carmilla may not count, since she's basically a demon of lust, and is changing from 'human het male' to 'hot demon babe with lust aura who is still uncomfortable about dating guys' to whatever she'll be in a few centuries.
** Gateway, AKA Molly. Molly, before meeting Chou, never thought of girls in a romantic way and isn't attracted to girls, apart from Chou.
** Subversion: Sizzle agreed to help the [[GenderBender newly-transformed]] Jobe work out some of her frustration in exchange for genetically-engineered breasts which would never sag. Unfortunately for poor Darcy, it turns out that sex with Drow is ''addictive''...
** Zig-zagged a bit with Stronghold and Mega-Girl. When Marty reveals that her apparently gorgeous body is actually a PK shell, and shows Steve her real, [[GenderBender still-mostly-male]] form... he shrugs and says that he loves her anyway. This was a tremendous relief to Megs, of course, but Steve points out that just because he's from Georgia doesn't mean he's prejudiced, and the fact that [[UsefulNotes/{{transgender}} she was a girl on the inside]] (and that she ''would'' be physically female in a few years) was more important than what her body was like now.
* Yusketeer members Yusiko and Yukito seem to have this relationship, he has said he would go heterosexual for her.
-->"But he told me I WAS SPECIAL!"
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Web Videos]]
* Both Doug and Lewis like pushing the idea that the otherwise straight [[WebVideo/AtopTheFourthWall Linkara]] has a big crush on WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic.
* WebVideo/DiamandaHagan despises penises... except for the one attached to Creator/OliverReed when he was playing the main character in ''Film/TheDevils''.
* The narrator from ''WebVideo/HonestTrailers'' seems to see Gale from ''Film/TheHungerGames'' this way.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Western Animation]]
* In ''WesternAnimation/{{Archer}},'' Ray may be CampGay but he's still absolutely willing to sleep with Lana because, as he puts it, "Nobody's ''that'' gay."
** There's also one-shot character Lucas Troy, a friend of Archer's who got his training with [=ISIS=] ([[MiddleEasternTerrorists not that one]]) only to start working for [=ODIN=] instead. Archer still considers Troy a close friend, but Troy has SingleTargetSexuality towards Archer, outright saying that he's not gay ''for other men'' when Archer finally confronts him about it. This becomes much HarsherInHindsight and not at all funny when, at the end of the episode, Lucas [[spoiler: makes a DeathbedConfession that once, after a night of hard partying, Archer passed out and Troy [[DoubleStandardRapeMaleOnMale raped him.]]]]
* In ''WesternAnimation/BobsBurgers'', Jimmy Jr. hardly likes doing anything unless his best friend Zeke says it'll be a blast to convince him rather immediately to go with any zany scheme. Tina is often frustrated by this, because most of those zany schemes are her trying to be alone with Jimmy Jr.
* At least suggested in ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}'' for Amy Wong; when she dated Bender, Amy told her parents that she was just in a happy relationship that happened to be robosexual, and rejected the idea that she would be interested in a wine-pouring robot just because it was a robot.
* In ''WesternAnimation/{{Kaeloo}}'', Mr. Cat often talks about how marriage is terrible and dating relationships are an annoying waste of time. However, he has expressed a desire to date and/or marry Kaeloo, and ''only'' Kaeloo.
* Such a gag ends the 1944 ''WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes'' short ''I Got Plenty of Mutton'': A wolf, having disguised himself as a sexy sheep in order to distract a ram from guarding his flock, finds himself being pursued (a la Pepe le Pew) for most of the cartoon. Finally, the wolf tears his costume off: "I'm a wolf!" The ram's leering response: "So am I!"
* ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'':
** Originally, Smithers. One of the creators referred to him at one point as "[[SingleTargetSexuality Burnsasexual]]." Thanks to {{Flanderization}}, newer episodes depict him as all-out gay, [[DependingOnTheWriter sometimes]] with {{camp|Gay}} tendencies. It is implied that he was dating John (from "Homer's Phobia") at some point.
--->'''Burns:''' Nonsense! Dogs are idiots. Think about it, Smithers: if I came into your house and started sniffing at your crotch and slobbering all over your face, what would you say?\
'''Smithers:''' ''[{{beat}}]'' If ''you'' did it, Sir?
** Patty Bouvier is a lesbian, but just like her twin Selma, she's got a crush on [[Series/MacGyver1985 Angus MacGyver]][[note]]The 1985 version. The Bouviers' thoughts on [[Series/MacGyver2016 the reboot]] are currently unknown.[[/note]], and by extension the actor who plays him, Creator/RichardDeanAnderson. Patty also briefly dated Principal Seymour Skinner, but seeing as that was all the way back in Season 2, that can be chalked up to EarlyInstallmentWeirdness.
