Hurt Foot Hop is a trope particular to AmusingInjuries.

A character is minding his own business and someone (or himself) drops something heavy on his foot, or he's angry about something and [[PercussiveTherapy kicks the source of his frustration a little too hard]]. Or she's angered a cute kid and [[LittleGirlsKickShins the kid kicks her]] (in the shins/stomps on her foot). Or there's a misstep, resulting in a stubbed toe... Or you stepped on {{Caltrops}} or something else sharp on the floor... you get the idea.

Whatever the situation, the result is the same. The character in question ends up hopping on one foot while clutching the other one, shouting in {{Angrish}} for a few seconds to indicate their pain (and some cursing along the way).

The foot is considered one of the body's more vulnerable areas and foot injuries happen often enough in real life to be relatable in fiction, and while they can be extremely painful, they're hardly ever life threatening (unless infection follows). Can occur before, while, after, directly as a cause for, or as a result of LosingAShoeInTheStruggle.

Primarily an Animation Trope, but has been known to turn up in other places. A standard element of innumerable silent-era comedies, and classic sound-era comedies.

This is a specific {{Subtrope}} of AgonyOfTheFeet. Agony of the Feet deals with foot injuries in general.

* In "D.W. Blows the Whistle" on ''WesternAnimation/{{Arthur}}'', Arthur is astounded to hear about D.W. being a hero for having stopped a little kid from crossing the street without looking both ways first. 230* In "Calling Dr. Zak" on ''WesternAnimation/DragonTales'', this happens to Zak after he steps on a spinypine thorn, though it's his sister Wheezie's foot (they're a two-headed dragon) that hops up and down while his foot, with the thorn in it, stays off the ground.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheFlintstones'': After Barney accidentally drops a bowling ball on Fred's foot, he varies his usual catchphrase shout to "Yabba-dabba-di-yi-yi-yi-ee-hee!" and [[AccidentalDanceCraze inadvertently creates a new dance craze]] among Bedrock teenagers with his hopping.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Franklin}}'':
** In "Franklin and the Pinecone Pass" on, Franklin gets so frustrated and upset that Bear wants to play Rabbit's new game (Pinecone Pass) instead of playing with him that he kicks a rock, hard. (Too bad he [[BarefootCartoonAnimal doesn't wear the shoes]] described in the original books' traditional opening.) He hops up and down, clutching his foot, and a just-arriving Beaver reminds him that it's ''balls'' that are good for kicking, not rocks.
** In "Franklin's Mom": Mr. Turtle drops a heavy frying pan on his foot and does this. His injury is what results in the story's plot of Mrs. Turtle leading Franklin and Bear's camping trip instead of him.
* ''WesternAnimation/GarfieldHis9Lives'' -- Cave Cat runs into the Caveman's ankle at high speed:
-->'''Caveman:''' CAT! ''[hops around, clutching his foot]''\
'''Narrator:''' [[InMyLanguageThatSoundsLike "Cat" was caveman-talk for "Darn it!"]]
* In ''WesternAnimation/GravityFalls'' episode "Not What He Seems", while trying to prove Stan innocent of stealing toxic waste, Dipper and Mabel see security footage showing that Stan ''did'' do the crime. Mabel tries to be optimistic by saying it could be anyone in the hazmat suit. [[InstantlyProvenWrong The guy then drops one of the barrels on his foot]].
-->'''Stan:''' ''[on the security footage while jumping and holding his foot]'' Gah! [[UnusualEuphemism Hot Belgian Waffles!]] ''[beat]'' Wait, I'm alone. I can swear ''for real!'' ''[takes a deep breath]'' Son of a...!\

* In ''WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb'', Doofenshmirtz has concocted an EvilPlan to get revenge on an ice cream man who ran over his foot the previous day, resulting in him having to wear a cast. In the ensuing fight with Perry The Platypus, he injured the ''other'' foot, causing him to hop up and down holding his foot, only to have to switch which foot he was holding because the act of hopping caused his already injured foot to hurt again. Once he started doing this, [[ViciousCycle his newly injured foot started to hurt]] because he was hopping on it, and so on and so forth.
* ''WesternAnimation/Rugrats2021'': In "[[Recap/Rugrats2021S1E10TheBigDiffFinalEclipse The Big Diff]]", Angelica tells Tommy and Chuckie they're too different to be best friends, so the two try to dress and act like each other, with Chuckie in particular wearing a blue t-shirt and a diaper, as well as ditching his glasses and shoes. This plan backfires because Tommy dresses in a blue shirt and green shorts more like Chuckie's, leading to the two going their separate ways. During this time, Chuckie accidentally steps on [=RoboSnail=], and without his shoes to protect it, he ends up hurting his foot. As he hops around in pain while holding his foot, he stumbles back, causing his diaper to get caught on the leg of a toy cat, [[StrippingSnag which pulls it off and leaves him naked from the waist down]] right in front of Susie, Phil, and Lil.

* Happens with great regularity on ''WesternAnimation/TomAndJerry'' when Jerry hurts Tom's foot (usually drops something on it or smashes him with something) and Tom does the dance of pain, clutching his poor hurt paw. In one memorable instance, Tom is about to hit Jerry with a hammer when Jerry offers him a much bigger mallet. As Tom takes the mallet, Jerry picks up the first hammer and whacks Tom's foot with it. Cue StockScream from Tom and hopping.
** There's also another memorable instance in "A Mouse in the House", where Jerry clobbers Butch's foot with a fireplace log while he and Tom are tangled up. Poor Butch is then hopping around painfully... holding onto Tom's foot instead of his own throbbing foot. Once he realizes this, he lets go of Tom's foot and appropriately grabs his own, going back to hopping and yelling.
