1	A FilmFic is a FanFic which is the plot of a film -- usually romantic in nature -- [[UniversalAdaptorCast adapted to star the characters of another fandom]]. It sounds like a cheat -- and when written badly, it ''is'' -- but it's surprisingly difficult to remain faithful to both the film and the characters, especially in SlashFic. Done badly, the plot alters the transplanted character's canon personality, leaving them with nothing more than a passing resemblance to their namesake and the plot being nothing more than SerialNumbersFiledOff. The laziest examples become copyright infringing transcripts of the target movie with [[TransplantedCharacterFic the names changed]].

3	The most common victims are Creator/{{Disney}} movies, although Creator/DreamWorksAnimation, Creator/{{Pixar}} and sometimes Creator/StudioGhibli are also popular. Even well-written examples of this genre have the unfortunate risk of being removed from Platform/FanFictionDotNet for copyright infringement, but other fan fiction sites may still host them.

5	When done badly, it is sometimes referred to as a 'Rip-Fic', as in ripping off somebody else's plot.

It looks like actual effort may have been put in.
28	* In ''Series/DoctorWho'' fandom, the ''Fanfic/ThisTimeRound'' series ''Storytime!'' is basically "Lit Fic" ... with the NoFourthWall characters complaining every step of the way.
29	* There exists a combination of WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic and Theatre/LittleShopOfHorrors with Pinkie Pie playing the part of Seymour. It maintains the tone of the former, for the most part, with plots being adapted and altered so that no one has to die, and it incorporates parody lyrics to keep it as a musical.

The basic plot is the same, focusing on an original character (although several canon characters appear, Numbuh 1 included), with a few details changed. For instance, the Mal Analogue ([[spoiler:Numbuh 12]]) is changed from being dead to having joined the [[TeensAreMonsters Teen Ninjas]].

42	* ''FanFic/TheFanmakeBlooperSeries'' takes a literal look at the film fic genre. A majority of the story is focused on the characters being actors or performers being put in roles and having to perform according to the script, if they aren't derailing it.

It actually incorporates the plots of ''both'' movies together without being just a retread with the names swapped. Also, Chapter 15 is a FormulaBreakingEpisode--a crossover of ''Tangled'' and ''Film/DieHard'', with Rapunzel as John [=McClain=] and [[WesternAnimation/TheHunchbackOfNotreDameDisney Frollo]] as the leader of the terrorists, who are all villains from other Franchise/DisneyAnimatedCanon films!
44	* ''FanFic/TangledInTime'' crosses the plot of ''WesternAnimation/{{Tangled}}'' and ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'' with Link as Rapunzel and Ganondorf as Mother Gothel with a few details changed. The Flynn Rider analogue, who is Tetra, doesn't take part until the second half of the story and Ganondorf is not emotionally nor psychologically abusive of Link, part of it due to BecomingTheMask and part of it due to PragmaticVillainy.

46	* ''I Must Be Going,'' the fourth installment of the ''Fanfic/SkyholdAcademyYearbook'' series, has Varric Tethras reading aloud his version of a mashup of ''Film/ThePrincessBride'' and ''VideoGame/DragonAgeInquisition.'' It makes about as much sense as you'd expect.
47	* ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/16426076/chapters/38459195 Today Too Snow Falls On It]]'' is a mashup between ''WesternAnimation/PigletsBigMovie'' and ''Manga/BungoStrayDogs'' with Chuuya playing the part of Piglet and other prominent mafia members [[https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/485532618818060298/506147693823918090/Untitled.png playing the others]]. It does the same as the Disney movie by referencing parts from the original story (the anime/manga in this case), but in contrast to the movie, these moments did not have to be changed. Other changes are less obvious, such as the honey retrieval mission [[DarkerAndEdgier being changed for a raid on an enemy base]].
48	* ''[[Fanfic/SlasherCopycat Slasher: Copycat]]'' is a variation, as it's a retelling of Film/Scream1996, but with original characters, a new killer, a true crime theme, and connections to the anthology horror series Series/{{Slasher}}.
49	* Back in the day, this was ''very'' common in the "Comedies" fanfiction forum of the ''Toys/{{BIONICLE}}'' fansite Platform/BZPower.
