''[[https://ceruleanscrawling.wordpress.com/summus-proelium-table-of-contents/ Summus Proelium]]'' is a WebSerialNovel by Cerulean that takes place in AnotherDimension of his Literature/HereticalEdge series. Summus Proelium is a superhero story following a young woman named Cassidy Evans. Summus Proelium takes place in a world where [[MassSuperEmpoweringEvent mysterious orbs]] have appeared which grant superpowers to anyone who touches them. After accidentally witnessing a murder, Cassidy encounters one of the orbs while fleeing from the murderers (one of whom is her brother). Cassidy is granted the ability to generate nine different colors of paint, each with a different power. Unfortunately, because of what she saw she ends up being stuck in the middle of a conflict with her family on one side and the heroes on the other. At least it seems that way at first. Soon though it becomes apparent that the line between superheroes and supervillains isn't as clear cut as it may seem...

!!This series provides examples of:

* AnotherDimension: A person who touches an orb is teleported to fog covered dimension where they gain a superpower.
** Furthermore, the setting as a whole is in AnotherDimension from the author's [[Literature/HereticalEdge other]] WebSerialNovel.
* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler: Pencil can resurrect recently deceased individuals.]]
* CainAndAbel: Simon Evans orders his men to find and kill the person who witnessed the murder all the while not realizing that person is his sister.
* LadyLooksLikeADude: Cassidy more resembles a boy of 14 than a girl of 16; she exploits this when creating her [[SecretIdentity Paintball persona]].
* NoSell: [[spoiler: Pencil has this as a super power.]]
* IAmYourFather: Cassidy's dad is a supervilain and a superhero as well.
* OminousFog: The world the orbs of light transport people to is filled with fog so thick it's almost impossible to see through.
* RobbingTheMobBank: The first interlude features the Minority stopping one of these. It's later revealed this was merely a diversion so a bank worker could break into La Casa's safety deposit box, and La Casa is not at all happy.
