->''"You may be something very special… even if you aren't aware of it yet. You may be something my kind have been awaiting for many long ages. Harahpin… the 'Golden One'."''

''Harahpin'' is a fantasy story written by Sequoia The Storyteller and is part one of a trilogy. It takes place in a universe where Heaven and Hell are planets, Pairetoria and Untoria respectively, each possessing contradictory and complimentary aspects of one another, even down to the very species.

After suffering another bout of the same nightmare, Eyrco decides to take action. Along with her two friends, Euron and Saphillin, she embarks on a journey to the hellish planet, Untoria, in order to seek answers to the meaning of her dream. Almost immediately, the three get tangled up in a prophecy and their fates intertwine with special Untorians known as Gold-Patches, whose very destiny may lay within Eyrco's uncertain paws.

However, time is running out. With pure Untorians on their tail and trying to stop them, and a horrific event forthcoming that would unleash unspeakable monsters, Eyrco and her friends must act quickly. But will they be able to fulfill the prophecy or will both worlds be ripped apart by an unspeakable force?

!!Tropes In ''Harahpin'':
* AFriendInNeed: If it weren't for the vision reminding him of his friend's dire need, Euron may never have found the strength to break himself out of the abyss cloud.
* AlienSky: Untoria's daytime sky is red with a bloody sun that beats down constant heat, while its nighttime sky has two moons and no stars visible in the sky.
* AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs: [[spoiler:Korgenast locates the Gold-Patch's hideout and uses the combined power of many khiboos to blast it open, and captures every single Gold-Patch]].
* AndIMustScream:
** Compared to the soul-tearing torment the Sadarkyds are capable of, death certainly is a more merciful and preferable fate.
** The Sadarkyds suffer this as well. Trapped between the realms of life and death, belonging to neither, they constantly suffer and drift aimlessly through the land. [[spoiler:Saphillin's singing frees them in the end]].
* AxCrazy: Eyrco and Euron become this briefly when they first arrive on Untoria. If it wasn't for Euron's silver glow, Eyrco would have ripped out his throat.
* BadBoss: The higher up kinfexes do not treat their lessers all that well. Case in point, when a lower ranking dog was struck by the claws of his superior, it is blatantly stated that he had gotten off easy.
* BadMoonRising: Untoria's moons have skull-like faces and appear to have a hypnotic effect, driving creatures to blood lust.
* BenevolentBoss: Solarus truly cares about his companions. So much so that when [[spoiler:Korgenast takes them prisoner]], he launches himself at a khiboo to take it on.
* BerserkButton:
** Do not mention the name of Untoria in front of Xepysa.
** Unless you have a death wish, do not torture a Pairetorian within the eyesights of a kazzen. You ''will'' regret it.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: If you decide to torture an innocent creature in front of a kazzen, ''Heaven help you''.
** Xepysa can get nasty if you push her BerserkButton.
** Euron might be an amiable bird, but cross him or especially one of his friends and he will chew you out.
** Eyrco is a force to reckon with when motivated enough.
* BigBad: Charynth Satarkys.
* BigDamnHeroes: Two Gold-Patches, Hirshankh and Darvarh, rescue Eyrco just before she is about to be blinded. The other Gold-Patches that were caught were also saved.
* BigGood: Xepysa Teqa Chameta.
* BittersweetEnding: [[spoiler:Eyrco and the others come in just in time to stop the Gold-Patches from getting killed by Wamaare. However, due to the ProphecyTwist, the Gold-Patches still die anyway]]. Even [[spoiler:Thyrim]] is moved to tears by this.
* BlackEyesOfEvil:
** Korgenast's eyes are so dark, it looks like he has holes in his head.
** The Sadarkyds have no eyes; just dark, black eye sockets that are described to shame death itself.
* BloodLust: A common trait among Untorians. Given their carnivorous nature, this isn't a surprise. Eyrco herself nearly gives into this during her first night on Untoria, and on a later day, begins to fall into the temptation again.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: Thrym is unique among Pairetorians as he actually wants to feel pain and suffering. He believes that being denied this is a treacherous thing and means he's not really free. He tells this straight in Xepysa's face.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Both Eyrco and Euron start acting uncharacteristically aggressive not long after arriving on Untoria's surface. They snip at each other more frequently and become easily irritated by Saphillin. It eventually gets to a breaking point when Saphillin's innocent question causes Euron to react in fury, which in turn causes Eyrco to get sucked into the conflict and try to ''bite out his throat''. Only the shine of Euron's feather was enough to break them out of the spell.
* BodyHorror: The Sadarkyds are basically animated corpses with nothing but skin and bones, no eyes, a three pronged tongue, and have the power to pull blood out of a victim's mouth.
* BreakTheCutie:
** Due to being propelled into a twisted and disturbing world where most of the species have a thirst for blood, the main trio unsurprisingly go through this.
** Saphillin. Nearly getting choked to death by one of your friends and then watching another friend try to kill the other is far from a pleasant experience.
** Eyrco gets it bad when she is [[spoiler:captured by the Sadarkyds and tortured to the brink of death]].
* CheerfulChild: Saphillin. At least, before he's reduced to a comatose state while in Untoria.
* ChekhovsSkill: [[spoiler:Saphillin's singing]] is what saves everyone from Waamare's torturous effects.
* TheChosenOne:
** Eyrco is believed to be this.
** Desmodea regards Kaedo as this.
* CompleteImmortality: [[spoiler:Korgenast is unable to die thanks to half his soul being bonded to Charynth Satarkys]].
* TheConspiracy: The Untorians, even thousands of years later, believe that the Pairetorians had been trying to wipe them out and they blame them and the Gold-Patches for the horrific changes in their world. This propaganda results in the Gold-Patches being wrongfully outcasted and hated among their own world.
* TheCorruption: [[spoiler:Korganest reveals his intention of destroying the last link to Pairetoria, which would allow the curse on Untoria to spread into other planets in the universe until everything is just as corrupted as Untoria]]. He strongly believes that this is a good thing, seeing it as the ultimate freedom.
* CreepyGood: The Gold-Patch Untorians might be friendly and willing to help, but they still have the creepy looks of full-blooded Untorians.
* DarkIsNotEvil:
** Skioq, after he is turned into a Gold-Patch.
** [[spoiler:Thrym]].
* DeadpanSnarker: Euron.
* TheDragon:
** [[spoiler:Korgenast]] is this to Charynth Satarkys.
** [[spoiler:Thrym]] very nearly becomes this.
* TheDreaded: Sadarkyds are the stuff of nightmares, even to full-blooded Untorians.
* EasilyForgiven: Euron is a bit too quick to forgive [[spoiler:Thrym]] for abandoning him and Eycro to a horrible demise.
* EldritchAbomination: The Sadarkyds are basically reanimated corpses with eyeless sockets, pronged tongues, ooze blood, and can force blood out of their victims' mouths without even touching them. They are the most feared creatures in Untoria and are so horrifying that when Eyrco tries to find out about them initially, Solarus pretty much tells her that somethings are better left unsaid.
* EldritchLocation: Untoria became this after Charynth Satarkys [[spoiler:split his soul and the laws of reality no longer applied]].
* EverythingTryingToKillYou:
** Untoria's environment is very hostile with exclusively carnivorous species. Except for Gold-Patches, Untorians tend to look after themselves and crave violence and blood. Being in this land is a death sentence.
** Even more true back on Ganymede's day, where even some of the ''plants'' were trying to kill him.
* EvilCounterpart: Untoria is Pairetoria's evil twin brother.
* EyelessFace: The Sadarkyds have no eyes. Just empty, dark eye sockets.
* EyeScream: Desmodea's father has his eyes ripped out as punishment for being a Gold-Patch.
* FantasticRacism: Full-blooded Untorians despise, ridicule, and persecute the Gold-Patch minority.
* FauxAffablyEvil: Korgenast is pretty polite when he converses with his victims, which makes it all the more terrifying when he suddenly raises his weapon and strikes.
* FeatheredFiend: Subverted with Euron. He might be a bit of a jerk at times, but he's really a nice guy.
* FeelNoPain: Korgenast barely reacts to being struck by a large hammer. It is later revealed that he [[spoiler:is bonded to Charynth Satarkys, thus making him impervious to pain and death is only temporary]].
* FromNobodyToNightmare: [[spoiler:Korgenast]] used to be a lowly servant dog. [[spoiler:After he binds himself to Charynth Satarkys]], he becomes an unstobbable killing machine that nobody dares to cross.
* GiantFlyer: The khiboos have wingspans of up to eighty feet wide.
* GodIsGood: Xepysa is the soul of Pairetoria and she watches over her children diligantly and is easily one of the sweetest characters of the book. Unless she has one of her moodswings.
* GoodCannotComprehendEvil:
** Due to the nature of Pairetoria and the inability to get badly hurt or kill oneself, most Pairetorians cannot fathom the concept of torture or why anyone would be so nasty.
** Euron had a hard time believing that anything could be so bad, even when told by Xepysa.
* GoodColorsEvilColors: Untoria has a blood red sky and sun, which bathe the land a crimson color.
* {{Heaven}}: Pairetoria.
* HeelFaceBrainwashing: Eyrco and Ganymede's gold patching could be seen as this. It basically involves forcibly rewriting an Untorian's brain against their will and making them more like Pairetorians. In a sense, they are losing their identity in favor for a new one forced upon them. No wonder pure Untorians are so fearful of Gold-Patches.
* HeelRealization: After nearly getting killed by a sea dragon monster, [[spoiler:Thrym]] finally realizes what a piece of shit he was in betraying Euron and Eyrco. He later attempts to redeem himself by defending them against sea monsters who were trying to eat them.
* {{Hell}}: Untoria.
* HeroicSacrifice: Desmodea flings herself at two of Korgenast's comrades to buy Eyrco some time to escape. She falls in the river and presumably dies. [[spoiler:Later it's revealed she did survive and ended up at the Gold-Patch's hideout]].
* HesBack: After spending much of the story in a comatose state, Saphillin is awoken by the sound of music and returns to his previous self.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: [[spoiler:Thrym]], although he will deny it and even believed he didn't have one for a while.
* HiddenBadass: Saphillin. ''Dear gawd'', Saphillin. [[spoiler:He ''weaponizes'' singing]].
* {{Hypocrite}}: Early, Solarus argues with Desmodea about Eyrco being Harahpin. He states that legends need not be literal when Desmodea tries to disprove it. Later, when Desmodea explains who she thought was Harahpin, Solarus uses a similar style argument as Desmodea did earlier in the book. She is quick to call him out on this.
* IgnoredEpiphany: After coming out of the river, Korgenast briefly has a moment where he realizes just how repetitive and endless his life is and becomes to remembered the tortured screams of those he killed over the years. He soon shakes it off and goes back to business, [[spoiler:starting with targeting the Gold-Patches so that his connection with the planet's soul is never cut off]].
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Desmodea.
* KarmaHoudini: Korgenast gets away scott free after he [[spoiler:tried to painfully murder the Gold-Patches]].
* LackOfEmpathy: By default, most Untorians. The only exceptions are Gold-Patches.
* LightIsGood:
** Eyrco is all gold in color save for her markings and eyes.
** Gold marks which Untorians are not clouded by their people's dark and hideous ways.
** Euron is silver in color and in times of hope, gives off a silvery glow.
* LightIsNotGood: Korgenast is one of the palest characters, but he has among the blackest of hearts.
* ManipulativeBastard: [[spoiler:Before his HeelFaceTurn]], [[spoiler:Thrym]] pretends to help Euron get to Eyrco, who has beene taken prisoner. He waits until Euron is reunited with her before he pulls the rug out from underneath, dooming them both to AFateWorseThanDeath.
* MotherNature: Xepysa.
* MusicSoothesTheSavageBeast: [[spoiler:Turns out singing is powerful enough to calm even the most vicious of Untorians]]. This becomes crucial in the climax as [[spoiler:singing]] is the only thing that can stop the Sadarkyds.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone:
** [[spoiler:Thrym]] becomes disgusted with himself when he realizes just what he did to Euron and Eyrco.
** Euron's reaction when he realizes that him leaving to go help Eyrco and Solarus with Desmodea resulted in Saphillin taking off. The fact that the planet has nothing but hostile lifeforms, save for Gold-Patches, and the fact that Saphillin is so unresponsive that he wouldn't defend himself against any threat makes his guilt so much worse.
* NighInvulnerability: Anything done to Korgenast will only dely him, with hardly a scratch on him. [[spoiler:Including death]].
* NotQuiteDead: After a newly reformed Quarrgh strikes and knocks Korgenast into the blood river and he doesn't resurface, it is assumed that he is dead and is no longer a threat. Solarus is unsure and believes there is a chance that Korgenast will return. [[spoiler:He turns out to be correct]].
* OffWithHisHead: Korgenast casually slices off the head of a slave simply for the act of talking back to him.
* {{Omniglot}}: Some of the characters, including Ganymede, Eyrco, Thrym, and Solarus, are able to speak both Pairetorian and Untorian.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: When Saphillin, one of the most talkative characters, suddenly goes quiet, you know something is wrong.
* PeoplePuppets: Ganymede and Eyrco have the ability to control an Untorian through touch.
* PersonalitySwap: After barely recovering from the brief spell she and Euron were under, she attempts to inspire hope in Euron, but he remains shattered for a while. Then later, Euron attempts the same thing on a hope-crushed Eyrco.
* ProphecyTwist: Throughout the story, Eyrco is pinned as Harahpin, the savior of the Gold-Patches. In the end, it's revealed that [[spoiler:Harahpin is not one person, but many, including all the Gold-Patches]]. It is also revealed that [[spoiler:the Gold-Patches were not to be teleported to Pairetoria, but rather they were to die by the golden light and be reborn on Pairetoria]].
* Really700YearsOld: [[spoiler:Korgenast is around a thousand years old thanks to his bond with Charynth Satarkys]].
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech:
** Still suffering from the loss of her father, Desmodea gives a scathing one to Eyrco.
** Thrym lashes out at Xepysa for denying him enough freedom to even feel pain, much to the planet soul's unsettlement.
* RedSkyTakeWarning: Untorian's daytime sky is blood red, a stark contrast to the peaceful blue sky of Pairetoria.
* {{Reincarnation}}: [[spoiler:Eyrco is Ganymede reborn]].
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: Both Morsi and Quarrgh are turned into Gold-Patches and offer help, but die soon after.
* ReptilesAreAbhorrent: Solarus, despite being a cobra-like beast, averts this trope, and is easily one of the most level-headed among the characters.
* TheReveal:
** [[spoiler:Harahpin is not one person. Harahpin is many people]].
** The reason Eyrco can speak Untorian and create Gold-Pathes? [[spoiler:She is the reincarnation of Ganymede]].
** [[spoiler:Korgenast bonded part of his soul to Charynth Satarkys and cannot die]]. This is the reason he wants to sever the final connection with Pairetoria.
* RiversOfBlood: Except for very few spots, all the bodies and rivers on Untoria have turned to blood.
* SequelHook: Xepysa tells Teqamero that there's still more work to be done. While Eyrco and her friends are done with their part, Kaedo's has just begun, and the next mission will take place on Pangaea.
* TheSociopath: Thyrm believed himself to be this. [[spoiler:He later realized that he was mistaken]].
* SoftspokenSadist: Korgenast rarely raises his tone, which only adds to his already uncomfortable nature.
* TheStarsAreGoingOut: The Untorian sky is nothing but blackness, save for the moons.
* TookALevelInBadass:
** Saphillin goes from being easily frightened and wanting to hide at the first sign of trouble to [[spoiler:defeating an entire army of Sadarkyds by literally ''singing them to death'']].
** Euron not only managed to wake himself up while trapped in a black void, but he rescued [[spoiler:Thyrim]] and pulled him out, despite the void trying to keep them back in.
** Eyrco freaking rides a ''Sadarkyd''.
* TookALevelInKindness: After his HeelRealization, [[spoiler:Thrym]] softens up his hardened interior.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: The sight of blood is so common on Untoria that Solarus doesn't even flinch at the sight of an ocean of the stuff, and even willingly bathes and drinks from a river of blood like it is just another puddle of water.
* VillainHasAPoint: It is true that full-blooded Untorians are ruthless monsters who wrongfully accuse the Pairetorians for the hole that split into the world. But considering that Ganymede, a Pairetorian, had body controlled two Untorians and then transformed them into Gold-Patches, altering their perceptive into Pairetorian view, it is not hard to see why full-blooded Untorians react the way they did.
* WhamLine: [[spoiler:''"I… am… Charynth… Satar… kys…"'']]
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: After the scene where he reveals to Solarus what he really is and his intent, [[spoiler:Korgenast]] is not seen again. It is never revealed what happened to him after the prophecy is fulfilled.
