That, or the Resurrección could all be shikai and all the Arrancar and definitely the Espada could have worked towards Segunda Etapa, but didn't for some reason i.e. being ridiculously strong as it is, pride, lack of knowledge, or any combination of these or another reason. Look at the Espada ranked lower than Ulquiorra: Aaroniero was simply a Menos and probably wasn't strong enough to have a second release yet. Szayel relied on gathering information and science, which is what made him dangerous, so he didn't have what it took to pursue powering up. Zommari ended up being arrogant. Grimmjow being stuck as Adjuchas might have had some effect on improving power like that. Nnoitora is like Kenpachi, except actually bothering with the shikai part. Now above him in rank: Harribel was a Vasto Lorde and wasn't interested in becoming more powerful. Barragan was already "King of Hueco Mundo" and felt as well that he didn't need more power. Starrk was already so powerful that his very presence killed everything around him and that's why he split. Becoming more powerful would negate the point of splitting himself. Finally, Yammy increased in power with anger, there would be no perceived need to enhance that. Though you could argue that his Enraged Form could be a midpoint between Resurrección and Segunda Etapa. |
