* ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam'': [[TeamDad Bright Noa]], previously pictured on the main page and now here, used this method to straighten out HumongousMecha pilots, BridgeBunnies, and just about anyone else. Among mecha fans, it's become known as the '''''Bright Slap''''' (or [[GratuitousEnglish Buraito Surappu]]). It has been [[MemeticMutation scientifically proven]] that the Bright Slap [[MemeticBadass transforms wimps into MEN OF DESTINY]].
** Bright is ''not'' the only one who delivers such slaps and speeches in the UC ''Gundams''. Even ''Amuro'' did it once, to pull Fraw Bow from an HeroicBSOD during the destruction of Side 7, and right after she saw her mother and grandfather die in an explosion along with helping her get the composure needed to run to White Base, saving her life. We also have Sayla slapping Kai (for being a coward), and Lt. Sleggar slapping Cameron Bloom (for being a wimp) and later Mirai (for refusing to see that Cameron was ''[[CowardlyLion less]]'' of a wimp than they thought).
** In the novelization of the original ''Gundam'', the cadets' core fighters have holographic projectors in the cockpit to allow an officer to virtual-brightslap them when they screw up. It's also mentioned that TheFederation military is fond of corporal punishment.
** The Bright Slap is usually followed by an event that would normally follow in a HeroicBSOD, unfortunately; shortly after Amuro wises up from his little sulking incident, he still ran away from White Base for a while (and ended up tossed in the brig when he returned). It was [[spoiler:Ryu's death [[HeroicSacrifice to save him from Crowley]]]] that solidified Amuro to become a real man rather than Bright slapping him. [[RuleOfFunny But who cares?]]
*** However, if you ask [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5pWun4tvCo Amuro what happened during the Bright Slap incident...]]
* ''[[Anime/MobileSuitZetaGundam Zeta Gundam]]'': Emma slapped Kamille (for acting like a child) and later Fa ('''''twice''' in the same scene'' for being reckless during battle), etc.
** Kamille received what can only be described as a "full-body Bright Slap" from Mr. Wong. "It's called a correction." Which in itself is ironic, considering how much of a whiney dirtbag Wong is.
** ''Zeta'' is full of this. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAJhEuKOzro Here]]'s a video which serves as a montage to it.
*** Bright delivered a lot of those.
*** Ironically, it's subverted AND reversed in the same series (early on no less): Bright himself ends up getting Falcon Punched courtesy of Bask Ohm, right before the other present Titans descend and proceed to knock the propellant out of him. The reason? He claimed the Titans were overzealous, and Bask found him out of line!
*** And as if to add insult to injury (literally), the next scene shows Bright, now in bandages and an arm cast, being dismissed by Bask only to run into Jamaican on the way out, who promptly ''slaps'' him across one of his back bruises.
* ''[[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Gundam ZZ]]'': Judau Ashta gets to effortlessly dodge one of Wong's attacks later on and knee him in the gut after Wong acted like a jerk for no real reason. And then there was the time Judau hit Bright [[HitMeDammit at Bright's own request.]]
* ''[[Anime/MobileSuitGundamUnicorn Gundam Unicorn]]'' had a variation in Episode 5, and played it straight in episode 4. In the latter, Banagher gets to deliver one to Captain Zinnerman (and through a lopsided NoHoldsBarredBeatdown at that), convincing him that allowing civilian casualties was nothing short of monstrous and made him as bad or worse than everything he claimed to hate, and so he could NOT allow it. In Episode 5, Bright finally gets to meet him, and manages to verbally snap him out of a funk and convince him of what to do, why, and how... and as said, he does it all with words. The most physical action taken against Banagher was grabbing his arm at one point.
* ''Anime/MobileSuitVictoryGundam'': Captain Gomez uses a correction PAUUUNCH on Uso Evin, but in the face of [[spoiler:the death of everyone he knows or cares about,]] even this does little.
* ''[[Anime/MobileSuitGundamWing Gundam Wing]]'': Lucrezia Noin does this to a recruit at Victoria Base.
** With an epic HeroicBSOD of sorts: that night, Wufei bombs the base, and several of her cadets are killed. Complete with PietaPlagiarism, and Noin descending to a breakdown during the ensuing battle. The coup de grace? Wufei refuses to kill her after defeating her in battle because she's a woman.
--->'''Chang Wufei:''' [[HeManWomanHater Are you listening, woman? Huh?]] [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech You saw that I was a kid, and you underestimated me. You're a weak soldier.]] [[KickThemWhileTheyAreDown I don't kill bleeding hearts or women.]]
** ''[[Anime/MobileSuitGundamWingEndlessWaltz Endless Waltz]]'' has Lady Une begining to do this to the wigged-out and apparently brainwashed Mariemaia Kushrenada, only for the series' [[TechnicalPacifist pacifist female lead]], Relena Darlian, to get between them... and deliver the slap ''herself'', then [[ShutUpHannibal verbally wipe the floor with Mariemeia's ideas]].
* ''[[Anime/AfterWarGundamX Gundam X]]'': TheCaptain Jamil Neate does this to KidHero Garrod, also providing the most excellent quote:
--->"When a man strays from the right path, a kind man needs the courage to raise his fist and correct him."
* ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEED'': Kira Yamato delivers one to Cagalli when she starts raging over deaths of her comrades.
--> "What the hell can you protect if feelings ARE THE ONLY WEAPONS YOU HAVE?"
** ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny'' offers a {{Deconstruction}} of the concept; Shinn starts the series well-meaning but with a ton of unresolved issues stemming from the death of his family. Athrun tries to play the BigBrotherMentor, but the fact that he seems incapable of interacting with Shinn without punching or yelling at him only makes things worse, especially since it pushes Shinn towards TheChessmaster, one of the few people who treats him decently. As a result, he basically ends up becoming the show's [[Franchise/StarWars Anakin]].
* ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam00'' Tieria Erde slaps pre-CharacterDevelopment Saji Crossroad [[spoiler: for being self-centered and stupid, after the latter revealed the location of a Katharon's base to the Federation, leading to a massacre]].
** Some time before that, Tieria ''received'' a slap from TeamMom Sumeragi Lee Noriega [[spoiler: when he unjustly lashes out at Setsuna and blames him for Lockon's tragic death]].
** Lockon punched Setsuna for opening his cockpit during a mission.
* ''[[Anime/MobileSuitGundamAge Gundam AGE]]'' took this trope and made it ''[[Funny/MobileSuitGundamAge hilarious]]''. Arisa snaps Asemu out of a funk -- by ''slapping him on the ass''.
* ''Anime/GundamBuildFightersTry'': After Team G-Master defeated Team Song Dynasty Vase, Yomi engaged in UnsportsmanlikeGloating and trash-talk. Akira slapped her and chewed her out for being so disrespectful; she paid him back with a slap of her own later. Notably, Akira is an {{Expy}} of Sleggar from the original series, mentioned earlier.
* ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamIronBloodedOrphans'':
** Mikazuki getting the funk out of Orga who is mourning for [[spoiler:Biscuit's death]], by grabbing his collar and asking him what he should do next and who he should kill next, which is to remind him of their pact years ago.
** Orga punches [=McGillis=] on the face for not coming up with any contingency plan when his original plan failed.
* ''Manga/MobileSuitGundamThunderbolt'': When Io sees Claudia, his XO and former girlfriend, using drugs to cope with her stress, he slaps her.
* ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamNarrative'': Luio slapped Jona for failing his mission by disobeying orders and not capturing the Unicorn Gundam 03 Phenex.
* ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamTheWitchFromMercury'': Vim Jeturk slaps his son Guel after he found him [[HonorBeforeReason too unwilling]] to accept AI assistance for his mobile suit.
