Go To

!! General
* There seems to be a running gag that sometimes, whenever a new character appears, the protagonists get blamed for not telling them about Duel Links, even if it is not intentional.
* The Duel Column provides players, especially newcomers, advice on the game's mechanics, but it does not stop the participating Duelists explaining each mechanic to throw in some laughs.
** Related Cards: Chazz is insistent that he dislikes the Ojamas, but falls silent in the end when Syrus questions him building an Ojama Deck.
** Skills: Joey is not only burnt by his own friends relating to his Grit Skill, but immediately loses when Yugi activates ''his'' Skill.
** Popular Cards: Yuma spends the entirety of his involvement stuffing Tori's Deck with random cards he picks out, much to her annoyance. It is also a reference to the ''ZEXAL'' manga where Tori tries to encourage Yuma back into Dueling after his near-loss to Kite: while her Deck is not shown, it is likely built with random cards.
** Timing: Poor Jack missed the timing on a Duel Quiz and blames Bruno for his problems.
** Link Summoning: A student (Vega) learns Link Summoning from another player with a LINK VRAINS Avatar (Sunny). It actually goes well... until the student reveals she believes Sunny is an AI (because of her avatar), which Sunny quickly takes offense. Even the Tour Guide of the Underworld gets aggressive during her Notes.
* The Character taunt lines of most Duelists, since they reference character-important events that occur to them, complaints... or hilarious events they have once done.
-->'''Yusei:''' I'll have some milk.\
'''Joey (DSOD):(creepy chin)''' Oh yeaaaaah!\
'''Téa (DSOD):(creepy chin)''' Aaargh...\
'''Kaiba (DSOD):(Joey dream face)''' You want this Duel Disk? Well, you can't have it.\
'''Carly:''' Your fortune today is... Super mega lame! Your rivals will get the upper hand!\
'''Astral:''' Can you please stop making dumb mistakes?, '''Yuma:''' Saying "please" doesn't make it any nicer!\
'''Blue Angel:''' I'm going to keep poking you!\
'''Yugo:''' My name's Yugo, not no-go!\
'''Yuga Ohdo:''' With my Insectinator, I'll fry every single ladybug in Duel Links!
* Poking at specific places on the map of each world can provide hilarious results.
** You have the option to poke at trash bins. Yes, the game gives you the option to DumpsterDive. You can actually find gems if you're lucky enough!
** In the DSOD world, poking on the trash bins in front of the Duel Studio area will make it open to reveal... a bunch of one-of duelists.[[note]]Specifically, Scud's gang from the movie.[[/note]] They are literally treated like trash by Kaiba.
** The earn gems version of the above replaces the trash duelists with ''Joey in a dog costume''.
** Dog costume Joey reappears in the earn gems version of the shop tap, being dragged by balloons.
** Also in the DSOD world, turning on the lights at the [=PvP=] arena will result in the Blue-Eyes White Jet flying by. How's ''that'' for over the top?
** Poking at the trash in the GX world will reveal...the Ojama brothers.
** Normally, poking at the roof of the GX world card shop has a bunch of balloons flying off, but rarely, it'll be a T-posing Ojama King spinning off into the air and leaving behind gems.
** Tap on the "water fountain" equivalent in [=5Ds=] (the weird platform thing next to the Gate), and you'll be treated to Sonic Chick running at top speed on the Daedalus bridge. Better yet, while it's tiny on-screen, [[AnimalsNotToScale compared to the size of the bridge that thing's HUGE]].
** For the Shop of the [=5Ds=] world, the balloons will be occasionally accompanied by Lazar floating away in one.
** In front of the Duel Studio area of [=5Ds=], a rat made a home out of Yusei's toolbox. Yes, Yusei's ''toolbox'' is treated as a ''trash bin'' by the game.
** Tap on the river of the ZEXAL Gate, and if you're lucky you'll be treated to Lillybot canoeing on a raft alongside the duck family.
** Turn on the lights on the ZEXAL [=PvP=] Arena, and the small army of trash robots (carrying trumpets and wearing toy soldier hats) will raise the trumpets as if to play them; if you get gems from it, they will ''actually'' play them. Don't ask how that works.
** On ZEXAL's Shop area, sometimes you'll see Orbital 7 being dragged with the balloons.
** The Gate area at ARC-V has a water fountain so you'd expect some small water show like all the other water fountains, right? NOPE. Instead ''Hip Hippo and the Hippo Tokens start dancing on the stage in the background'', complete with limelights. Better yet, if you do it again after receiving the gem reward, Hip Hippo will show up on stage alone, realize there's nobody there, panic and flee cartoon-style.
** Tap the middle of the VRAINS Gate area, and if gem bonus is available, suddenly all the screens display Blue Angel more or less beam spamming pink hearts.
** The trash bin in VRAINS has... the [[ThoseTwoGuys reporter duo]] spying on Yusaku's house and panic upon being discovered. In fact, the designated trash area is around Yusaku's house.
** The get gems version of the above starts with Roboppi (in the bot form) running out of the house, tripping on the stairs. It then "runs" around in circles a few times and rushes back inside, slamming the door behind it. What happened in there!?
** Get gems for SEVENS' Gate Area and instead of the school gates closing and opening, you are treated to Celestia flying around the school in her UFO form.
** SEVENS' Shop area can have Kaizo showing a happy expression as he is carried away by balloons.

!! Duel Monsters World
* Kaiba's "You're a third-rate Duelist with a fourth-rate Deck!" is the most iconic line from the game for being the [[CrossesTheLineTwice pure embodiment]] of StopHavingFunGuys [[{{Jerkass}} assholery]], [[EvilIsPetty especially when he says it to]] little kids.
* Several characters are completely incredulous about losing to Joey.
-->'''Téa:''' I can't believe it! I lost to Joey? JOEY?!? This is gonna sting for a month...\
'''Kaiba:''' Heh. So this is what it feels like to be the worst duelist in the world.
** For added hilarity, one of Joey's victory quotes has him claim his buddies always have his back, [[{{Irony}} despite Téa just insulting him.]]
* Pegasus's interactions with just about everyone in his Toon World event are hilarious.
** Joey is initially suspicious of him until he mentions rewards.
--->'''Joey:''' Line your prizes up 'cause Joey’s snatchin' 'em all up! Pegsy, maybe you ain't so bad. Maybe you ain’t no down and dirty no good stinkin’ snake.
** For Rex Raptor, Pegasus [[MaliciousMisnaming pretends to forget his name, calling him "Rex Tractor" and "Rex Rapper."]] Rex rolls with the last one.
** Pegasus needles Bandit Keith about dropping him into the ocean in the anime, saying he hoped he had a nice swim.
* Yami Bakura gets several funny moments in his event by giving Kaiba advice for dueling, insulting Ryou's dueling skills and calling him a thief, telling Keith to beat Pegasus up, and fanboying over Weevil throwing Yugi's Exodia cards in the ocean.
-->'''Yami Bakura:''' Hahahaha... I know you. Aren't you the one who threw Yugi's Exodia into the ocean?\
'''Weevil:''' Wha... You got a problem with me!\
'''Yami Bakura:''' No no. I loved that you did something so horrible! You'll do anything to win. That’s great! I should learn from you! Hahahaha!
* Some of Yami Bakura's decks focus on Zombies... one of which is Humpty Grumpty.
* Kaiba has this quote when summoning Kaibaman.
-->'''Kaiba:''' It's like looking in the mirror! Here comes Kaibaman!
* If Kaiba Summons Blue-Eyes White Dragon during April Fools Day 2017, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Yorcz0AWRs Blue-Eyes is wearing a KaibaCorp construction helmet in its Summoning animation.]]
* Joey sees the Tour Guide from the Underworld's Duelist Challenges and fails at them, only to be told by Téa to read the fine print. The Tour Guide continues to say that anyone who fails the challenges is declared a defeated dog. [[BerserkButton Joey does not take it well]].
** Even more hilarious is that Téa uses [[HurricaneOfPuns dog-related puns]] when talking to Joey, which Joey doesn't understand until he reads the fine print. And the reason why it's Joey and not anyone else is because it's a reference to Duke Devlin's debut in the anime, where he defeated Joey in a duel and forced Joey to wear a dog costume as punishment.
* When the sixth Duel Challenge was released, Joey and Rex bonded over finally having something in common--dueling by instinct, not book smarts--and when Weevil and Mako revealed that they were able to complete the last challenge, this exchange occurred.
-->'''Joey:''' Whaaa? You can't be serious! [sad] Aww man... I thought you were my friend. And friends stick together.\
'''Rex:''' That's right! We're all supposed to fail together! Like a pack of dogs! You traitors!\
'''Mako:''' [sad] .........I'm sorry... [angry] ...Wait, no I'm not! Why would I want to be a loser too?!?
* The Paradox Brothers, Mokuba, and Arkana were added to the game before Yami Marik, who was revealed out-of-game when it first came out.
* Téa's interactions with Para and Dox consist of her [[BigStupidDooDooHead calling them a bunch of lame-os]] and [[MaliciousMisnaming deliberately misnaming them as the Pairofcrocks and Pairofsocks Brothers]].
* By sheer coincidence, the first Yami Marik event began on the same day as Yami Yugi's birthday, July 26.
* When Yami Marik is unlocked he gives a speech where he pretends to have a lifelong dream to become Duel World King... then points out that such things are beneath him and all he cares about is inflicting pain and suffering.
* Yami Bakura and Yami Marik are notorious villains and threaten their opponents accordingly, [[TooDumbToLive but none of the Standard Duelists notice]]. Most of the time, they simply comment about having to do better at their game even though they're being threatened with a trip to the Shadow Realm, or wish them good luck or remind them to have fun.
* In the Duelist Chronicles: Set Sail for the Kingdom event, instead of the featured duels using the manga/early anime's RPG-like ruleset, real cards are used whenever possible. This leads to moments like Yugi using Attack the Moon against Mako to win and Makiu, the Magical Mist with Summoned Skull against Weevil, the latter of which was the only effect transplanted from the manga and anime to the card game--its in-manga text was literally "Rain falls on the battlefield."
* In Rex Raptor's Dino Mayhem event, Rex went on a quest for a new ace monster after realizing more people attributed Red-Eyes Black Dragon to Joey than him. After gushing about how cool his new Dinosaur card had to be, with a caveat that it couldn't have wings as it'd be too similar to a dragon, he realized Two-Headed King Rex ''does'' have wings. Later, he gets completely confused about what makes a dino a dino and that Two-Mouth Darkruler couldn't have been a real dinosaur.
* In the second Duelist Challenges event, Joey got stuck on the quizzes [[RunningGag again]], worried about being called a Dueling Dunce, and thought about asking Yami Yugi for help, leading to a hilarious ImagineSpot as he pictured what he'd say, especially if you imagine it in the booming voice of Creator/DanGreen.
-->'''Yami Yugi:''' I believe in you, Joey! Because you are the true King of Games! Fo' sure!
** Then later on Mai and Téa notice Joey begging Yugi for more hints.
* In the third Duelist Challenges event, Rex tries to ask Ishizu and Odion for help on the quizzes. They promptly ignore him.
* Mokuba's unlocking cutscene has him yell at Roland over thinking he wasn't good at Duel Monsters (as opposed to Capsule Monsters), then adds that he only borrowed one of Seto's Blue-Eyes. All despite poor Roland not saying a single thing.
* Bonz dueling Yami Bakura again is an exercise in VideoGameCrueltyPotential, especially if Bakura wins.
* Espa Roba's introduction to the game had him vow not to cheat... then realizing he could see people's hands somehow, causing him to think he really was psychic and gloat about it. Bella then wonders how long his turn is going to take. Apparently we were introduced to him....in the middle of his duel, of all times.
** In Espa Roba's Duel Carnival event, it starts with Espa Roba dramatically announcing that he's bringing his mental magic to Duel Links full-time. He then says that he has a Psychic Power Deck focused on Jinzo and needs to gather information on what types will menace Jinzo and declares "Speak all to me... Reveal all to me..." and then his sprite vanishes and Bella appears on screen with her text box simply having a lot of ellipsies!
** The end of the Duel Carnival event revealed that Espa Roba really doesn't have any psychic power after all, as not only everyone knew the result of the event, but also, Espa Roba only knew the result because ''he closes his eyes all the time, forcing Bella to whisper the result to him''. When Espa Roba mentioned he can see his opponent's hand, Bella shut him down AGAIN by noting that it was merely his Skill.
** Additionally, during the event, Espa Roba "assigned" Joey to represent Beast-Warriors. Except Joey's deck actually has a lot more Warriors than Beast-Warriors.
** The final phase of the second version of the event replaces "Machine vs Psychic" with "Winged Beast vs Fairy". Espa Roba thinks of Ishizu when thinking about Fairy, even though, just like many of the players, he's surprised to find out that Mudora is a [[OurFairiesAreDifferent Fairy-Type]].
* In his second event, there was quite a contrast between defeating Yami Marik at Level 30 and at Level 40.
-->'''Level 30 Yami Marik:''' You defeated my Egyptian God? Well done!\
'''Level 40 Yami Marik:''' How dare you! I swear I'll annihilate you! You will regret angering my Egyptian God!
* Beating Level 50 Yami Marik has him briefly freak out as he notices you have Ra, wondering if ''his'' Ra is a copy.
* Bonz's second event has him scare Bella by sheer accident, with him trying to simply give her card back. Later in the event, Joey, Yugi and Téa are now on the hunt for him.
* Like Joey, some takes losing to Tristan really badly.
-->'''Joey (DM):''' I lost to Tristan... I'll never get over this...\
'''Joey (DM): (post-loss)''' I can't believe I lost to Tristan... I'll never hear da end 'a this.\
'''Duke:''' I need a moment... I can't believe I lost to an amateur...
* Superb Téa's event leaned on the fourth wall when Joey complained about her overuse of Spell cards, a complaint many players had against Téa Burn decks.
** It also echoes the time Joey dueled Téa in the manga and anime, where he lost because Téa used a Spell card on his monster.
* The April Fool's event featured multiple copies of Tristan appearing, who were all so weak the player defeated them just by interacting with them.
* The Roaming Duelist Tristan event has him with a Level 30 deck that's actually stronger than his Level 40 deck, aside from the lack of Battleguard Howling and Battleguard Rage. His Level 40 deck also has Needlebug Nest, a card that sends 5 cards from his own Deck to the Graveyard, an attempt to make use of Feast of the Wild LV5's ability to Special Summon from the Graveyard. This sometimes either leads to him decking out faster, or losing a duel because his only copy of Battleguard Howling or Battleguard Rage gets sent to the Graveyard in this way.
* The game references ''WebVideo/YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries'' in Tristan's event profile. "Watch and be amazed by Tristan's Dueling skills... and voice."
** And then one of Tristan's Skills is revealed to be named as.....''Super Strength''.
--->'''Tristan (YGOTAS):''' My voice gives me super strength!
* One of Tristan's quotes when being selected is "Am I confident in my dueling? Not at all!"
* The Paradox Brothers' unlocking cutscene has them proudly declaring that they'll defeat all competition with their Gate Guardian. Then Dox notices that they have the small problem of not actually possessing the cards needed to summon Gate Guardian, at which point Para curses out Kaiba for not programming the cards into their deck.
* If you defeat Tea while playing as Tristan, Tea will make another jab at Joey's ButtMonkey status, by noting that Tristan is better than Joey.
* The "Battle City Begins" event has Yami Yugi as a {{Superboss}} with a skill that automatically summons an Egyptian God on his fifth turn. Potentially troublesome with Obelisk and Slifer, not so much if he rolls a Winged Dragon of Ra, [[AntiClimaxBoss which hits the field with 0 ATK]].
* Scheming Weevil's event had him rebrand himself as ''Evil'' Underwood, to which Rex comments that there was no real difference and besides being short on letters, Weevil was also short on brain cells.
* Duke Devlin's event had him as a mix of his manga and anime selves, having both dueled Yugi for revenge and the Puzzle and dueled Joey to make him do what he said for a week. Joey is not happy about the latter event and tells him to ignore that condition the next time they duel.
* Solomon's attacking lines with his Exodia pieces cards sounding like he has run out of options and is just doing whatever he can.
* When Solomon left the Duel Links world, he didn't realize that the cards being digital meant he couldn't take them home and display them in the shop. Cue him frantically telling Yugi to figure out a way to make them physical.

!! Dark Side of Dimensions World
* The DSOD world began with a recreation of the Ceremonial Duel and its aftermath. However, the game blanked out the Pharaoh's name, rendering it as "My name is... ------!!"
* Scud is cemented as a JokeCharacter right away. As soon as you unlock his unlock missions you're greeted with the message "Detecting weak brain wave frequencies... Adjusting levels...".
* Aigami and Sera's plan in the first Transcend Game event is to [[EvilIsPetty wreck Duel Links]], with their plan in part 2 to kill Kaiba seeming like Plan B.
* DSOD Kaiba has two generic lose quotes against the original DM cast - for context, DSOD Kaiba treats them as just mere copies of the major duelists of the DM era, as obviously only the older ones exist in DSOD. His first quote expresses his frustration losing to a copy of the duelist, and the second one expresses that he's so good at programming that character's deck and strategies, that Kaiba impresses himself at how good he is at that. In other words, [[InsaneTrollLogic Kaiba says that he only lost to himself]].
** DSOD Kaiba also has generic quotes when he wins against those same DM characters, for the same reason. One of the quotes being "You're a copy as weak as the original." Thing is, this also occurs even if he were to beat DM Kaiba. Resulting in him sometimes insulting himself.
* Even when before DSOD Tristan could be released, Joey STILL doesn't like losing to even DM Tristan.
-->'''Joey:''' I lost... to Tristan... I'll never be a pro...
* Characters noting DSOD Mokuba’s new suit and haircut has become a RunningGag.
* After you beat DSOD Kaiba in Aigami's unlock event, Joey, Tristan, and Téa all did the infamous "creepy chin" face.
* DSOD Ryou Bakura's conversation with Scud has him wonder if going to Duel Links makes you vanish in the real world and how to explain potentially going missing. Scud plays the OnlySaneMan for once and has no clue what he's talking about.
* Anything between DSOD Joey and DSOD Bakura, really. At the Prologue, their Duel encounter and Ending, Joey ends up having to duel Bakura's Occult Deck much to his horror while he screams in despair and begs him to use any other deck other than that.
* Before he was even released in the game, fans speculated what archetype Ryou Bakura would've been given unique lines of dialogue for considering he himself never actually dueled in canon. The most widely believed theory was that it was going to be Dream Mirror considering how well it matched his character's overall theme of duality, and the fact that some of cards belonging to that archetype were already in the game. This ended up not being true, and he was instead given lines for the ''Outer Entities,'' [[https://yugioh.fandom.com/wiki/Outer_Entity an archetype based on nothing but pure Lovercraftian nightmare fuel]] that are not only not in the game, they're banned in real life because of how game-breaking they are.
** This could also be considered a case of FridgeBrilliance when you realize there's also a [[TabletopGame/CallofCthulhu popular RPG based on the same thing.]]

!! GX World
* Among the new Standard Duelists introduced in the GX World, LargeHam SmugSnake Zachary stands out in this regard. When his Life Points fall below 2000, his dialogue and facial expression become utterly hysterical.
-->'''Zachary:''' This must be a joke! A cruel, cruel joke!
** Notably, one of his pre-duel quotes has him smugly boasting "You must not know Obelisk Blue's reputation!" regardless of who challenged him, even if it's Alexis who is also an Obelisk Blue. Said dialogue also still can appear even if the character challenging him is ''Crowler''. In other words, ''his own teacher''.
** He also has a post-duel quote when he lost that has him saying he never lost a Friend Duel - the funny bit is that considering his personality, it's very unlikely he even has a friend to begin with.
* Ojama King's summoning animation. He stands atop the ruins, and then leaps into the air like a superhero, posing with a big goofy grin and a noticeable bulge in his [[UnderwearOfPower underpants]].
* Bastion, true to his ButtMonkey status in the anime, nearly gets left out of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkUR5bTH4xU the trailer for GX World]], appearing only at the very end of it, as if even ''Konami'' forgot about him.
* One of Bastion's introduction quotes when he's selected:
-->'''Bastion Misawa:''' [[OutOfFocus It's finally my turn! ...Took long enough.]]
* If Alexis beats Chazz, she'll tell him she's sorry, but her true love is... Dueling.
* Chazz's introduction is ripe with troubles from the Ojamas.
* Dr. Crowler's event has funny interactions with the cast, especially Jaden, where he asks if Crowler's on vacation and causes him to cover up that he ''is'' on vacation.
* Serious Chazz's event had the final dialogue segment, where he realized how lost he was without the Ojamas and begged them to come back, be wishful thinking on the part of the Ojamas.
* Syrus's introduction has him fawning over Tour Guide from the Underworld. When he tries to press his luck to meet other duel spirits like Thunder Nyan Nyan or Dark Magician Girl, she has him greet Gladiator Beast Andal for a big bear hug, which scares Syrus away.
** Syrus' unlock event actually shows this again at the start.
* When you unlock Crowler, he mentions that if he becomes Duel King, he hopes he’ll get prize money.
** And at the end of his event, he learns he’s not getting paid for his "class" as it was not officially planned by the school.
* Whenever Dr. Crowler loses against any of the Duel Academy students, he insists that he set a bad example for them and let them win.
-->'''Dr. Crowler:''' T-This was a bad example! I let you win! ...I'm serious!
* Beating some of the other GX Legendary Duelists as Dr. Crowler have some funny reactions from the losers:
-->'''Jaden:''' Detention?! Aw, come on, Teach! Show some heart!\
'''Chazz:''' What?! You're making me take remedial classes?! You can’t do this to The Chazz!\
'''Syrus:''' What? I gotta take extra classes?! But we’re not in school right now!\
'''Aster:''' No! I can’t believe I lost to a lowly lecturer!
* Jesse Anderson's Rainbow Dragon event has hilarious reactions from Jaden and Chazz. Jaden takes Jesse's comment about a duel to set them on fire literally, while Chazz complains about Jesse getting special treatment from the programmers and tries to stop it by dueling him, only to realize doing so would only help him out. Jesse even says he thinks like the Ojama trio.
-->'''Chazz:''' Don't compare me to those losers!
** Then there's Crowler's reaction, which makes it seems like he cares about his students... but only because his salary gets cut if he doesn't.
** During the Tag Team Tournament too, whenever Jesse gets partnered with Chazz, once they lose, Jesse shows concern for how Chazz’s Ojamas feel. Chazz coldly responds that they’re used to losing.
--->'''Jesse: ''' But doesn’t that mean YOU’RE used to losing too?\
'''Chazz:'''(Gulp)
* Jesse's Level 50 deck is designed to quickly summon Rainbow Dragon, but the way it does so can leave the amount of cards in the deck dangerously low. It can end up becoming hilariously anticlimactic as if you manage to stall Rainbow Dragon for just a couple of turns, you'll win the duel because Jesse ''decks out himself''.
* Syrus's second event continues his misfortunes, still being chased around by Andal and nearly getting on Alexis's bad side.
** Later, you get to see Bastion laughing about how he finally got included in something before Syrus.
** After Syrus explains his situation to Bastion, Bastion lectures him for 'losing' focus because of card crushes. He ''immediately'' loses focus on his lecture when Syrus claimed he saw White Magician Pikeru (Bastion's card crush) and after realizing he'd been tricked, quickly composes himself as if nothing happened.
** The reason for Syrus' long absence in-universe. [[TheDitz Jaden]] was supposed to remind him to join, but got distracted dueling someone.
* Zane's first victim in his Cyberdark event was the entitled, elitist {{scrub}} Zachary, making Syrus's comment about treating his opponents with respect inadvertently funny given how much of a sore winner and loser Zachary is.
** Zane's use of Power Wall can be inadvertently funny as it mills his Deck, sometimes resulting in him milling cards he should be playing instead, such as his Cyberdark Impact fusion spell card, or in case of his Level 60 deck, his single Attack and Receive trap card, which would've been fine if he actually has another copy in his deck. [[note]]Having another Attack and Receive in the graveyard boost the effect of the played copy, but Zane only runs 1 meaning he can't play another copy.[[/note]]
* Yubel's event, which invokes a ZombieApocalypse, has this epic case of TemptingFate from Chazz.
-->'''Chazz:''' Hahahaha! You’re not good enough to step to the Chazz! Why don’t ya losers act like real zombies and attack me as a horde!\
'''Multiple Duel Ghouls:''' Duelllll...\
'''Chazz:''' Gulp! Me and my big mouth! They actually teamed up!
* Zane's first interaction with Yubel is funny, especially since Zane is usually the rude one.
-->'''Yubel:''' Where's Jaden?\
'''Zane:''' Hello to you too. That’s no way to greet your opponent.
* Chazz's interactions with Yubel are a mix of hilariously casual and awesome, as he's annoyed with her instead of being afraid.
* This exchange when Yubel level 50 appears.
-->'''Jaden:''' I thought exposing you to the healing light of the universe would fix you.\
'''Yubel:''' That’s an odd name for [[EldritchAbomination the Light of Destruction.]]
* The "Spunky Jaden" event starts with Syrus claiming Jaden trashed his Elemental Heroes. Later on, Chazz, who dueled him, complained that Jaden's deck theme doesn't change at all, and it is revealed he never trashed his Elemental Heroes, he merely updated it. When everyone stated it was Syrus who claimed it first, Syrus hastily denied ever saying such thing.
** Jaden then points out that him trashing his Elemental Heroes will never happen... just like Chazz trashing his Ojamas. Chazz immediately refuses to agree with it.
** Much like Zane with his Power Wall, Jaden's Card Trooper mills cards from its user's deck, and can lead to Jaden running out of options quickly, usually because he accidentally milled his important spells and traps that way.
* Bastion's SuperMode is "[[Film/InglouriousBasterds Inglorious Bastion]]".
** He's a bastard in [[TheComputerIsACheatingBastard another way]] too.
* Tyranno Hassleberry's debut in the game features an argument between him and Syrus, which references Syrus' debut being late because Jaden forgot about him.
* Tyranno Hassleberry's unlock event has hilarious interactions with some of the characters.
** Chazz boasts that he's going to beat Tyranno before both parties realize they've never actually dueled before, complete with Tyranno being snarky about Chazz's spotty win record.
** Tyranno calls Crowler "ma'am" (although he also treats Crowler as a good teacher), and Crowler secretly admits again that he can't say to his student about him actually being there for a vacation.
** Tyranno says to Aster that titles don't matter in Duel Links, but when Aster seemingly is about to decline the duel, Tyranno uses Aster's pro title as bait.
** Bastion and Tyranno talk about both of them owning a Dinosaur deck. Tyranno wants to see the deck in a duel, but Bastion wants to explain his deck in extreme detail and keeps blabbering about it, to the point of even mistaking Tyranno's bond with his cards as ''card crushes''.
** Syrus is tricked into leaving Duel Links so that Tyranno can hang out with Jaden without getting annoyed by Syrus. It only lasts a few moments until Syrus realizes he's been tricked.
** Alexis reveals she sent an invitation to Tyranno to join Duel Links.....through Jaden. Tyranno points out that it's her fault for thinking Jaden would remember, to which she agrees.
* During the start of Tyranno's event, Tyranno boasts to Syrus that he would evolve into a dinosaur and beat everyone else in duels, to which Syrus points out that it would actually be a de-evolution.
* During the Ultimate Tyranno Hassleberry portion of the event, everyone gets worried when Tyranno gets wild again, and Jesse suggested they simply duel him again to calm him down. The funny part is that during the conversation, ''Jaden'' of all people was the one who remember the details of why Tyranno turns wild, with Chazz questioning why Jaden suddenly is the smart one.
* Sartorius's event has him extending a WeCanRuleTogether offer to Yubel. It doesn't go well.
--> '''Sartorius:''' Let us fill the universe with our light together.\
'''Yubel:''' [[LittleNo No.]]\
'''Sartorius:''' What!?\
'''Yubel:''' I don't care about the light. I don't care about you. I only care about Jaden.
* Due to an error, a card sleeve of Chazz and Alexis in the Society of Light outfits was labeled "Mokuba Kaiba".
* During Blair's event she makes a special lunch that is better than the eggwiches for Jaden as an attempt to get close to him. It fails when every duelist including Aster, Chazz, and even Dr. Crowler wants to get it and duel her, eat it, or do both, which Jaden/Yubel lampshades when facing her.
** Yubel is TheComicallySerious and [[EvilIsPetty takes offense to Blair's lunch for Jaden, tossing it away]] while Blair wonders if love is this complicated for everyone. In addition, she adds that now she has to worry about Alexis ''and'' Yubel as love rivals for Jaden.
** Blair immediately becomes hostile towards Alexis once she reveals that she entered Duel Links at the same time with Jaden with the latter confused of the sudden agitation.
** Sartorius approaches her and asks to tell her future, but Blair shocks and annoys him by asking about her future with Jaden.
** Blair is so infuriated with other duelists stealing her lunches for Jaden that she actually starts choking Chazz.
** At the end of the event, Chazz and Syrus thanked Blair for a fun event she put together, intended or not, but only because the two boys were allowed to Tag Duel with Alexis on their side.
* If you beat Chazz using Blair, [[BlatantLies he'll hastily note that he let her win because the youngsters need to keep their spirits up]].
* Jim "Crocodile" Cook's Unlock Event has him meeting with Alexis has her admitting to Jim that his manner of speech isn't understandable for her, crushing him badly. Keep in mind, said meeting has Jim throwing out the thickest Australian slang you can imagine.
-->'''Alexis:''' Umm... Well... I've always been meaning to tell you something.\
'''Jim:''' What?\
'''Alexis:''' I... don't know half of what you're saying.\
'''Jim:''' You don't?!\
'''Alexis:''' Is that a surprise?\
'''Jim:''' Stone the crows... I'm gonna go cry now.
** When the event first starts, Syrus gets treated to Shirley biting him. Even funnier; Jim's introductory profile during the event details shows Shirley biting Syrus.

!! 5D's World
* 5D's world Standard Duelist Chloe is a young girl from Topside, thus she acts like an {{Ojou}}, and may sometimes complain that you're being too harsh to a kid if she loses the Duel. Even if the one defeating her is Leo or Luna, both of them not only being kids as well, but are also from Top like her.
* 5D's world Standard Duelist Wild Dan is so much of a Riding/Turbo Duel fan, that he mistakes his Spells for Speed Spells, and may blame the lack of his motorbike when he loses the Duel. This becomes even funnier in January 2019 when a new style of event ''does'' allow you to Riding/Turbo Duel, but not with him.
* Leo proudly claims this is his chance to become a King of Games because in Duel Links, real life decks do not apply, everyone start at the same level. And then in his unlock scene, it is revealed he forgot "everyone" means the same thing also applies to ''him'', so he doesn't have Power Tool Dragon with him in Duel Links. Highlighted that out of the 5D's Signers, Leo ''doesn't'' start off with the Skill to add Power Tool Dragon in his Deck.
** And before that, he thinks of "King of Games" as an actual royalty kind of king, with scepter, crown, and a throne.
* One of Sector Security's win quotes is "You're under arrest!" followed by saying he was joking.
* Half of Akiza's phrases are of her believing in her friends and in the trust of their bonds... and the other half are of her time as the Black Rose Witch, reveling in violence and inflicting pain on others with a [[SurprisinglyCreepyMoment surprisingly creepy]] expression. It's hilarious to imagine Duel Links Akiza as schizophrenic.
** Similarly, Antinomy has voicelines that comes from his Bruno personality, that will sometimes show up when you select him on the character wheel. It just feels hilariously weird looking at Antinomy sounding like Bruno, due to how different the two's personalities are.
* Officer Trudge's entrance into Duel Links has him complaining about investigating without any backup, and his dialogue with Leo has Leo ask if he was arresting computer viruses.
* If you unlock all of Trudge's rewards, he apologizes for running out of stuff to give you, but then adds that money is the root of all evil and hopes you'll keep helping out of kindness. The fact that Trudge is Ushio in Japan, who was Yugi's first Shadow Game opponent and solely focused on money and greed, makes it even funnier.
* If Leo loses to Crow, he'll say under his breath "Your Blackwings are so unfair," to which Crow responds "Huh? Say somethin', Leo?"
* The minibox for Ancient Fairy Dragon has its tagline making a reference to Ancient Fairy Dragon's current Forbidden status in OCG/TCG.
* The fact that the item required for Jack's unlock event is Blue-Eyes Mountain coffee.
-->'''Crow:''' Did you force us to gather them because you wanted to drink?\
'''Jack:''' Of course!\
'''Crow:''' (I am impressed and appalled at the same time...)
* Jack's conversation with Trudge is all about Jack not wanting to deal with Sector Security, and only want Trudge to challenge him as a duelist. Trudge finds his attitude weird and bothersome, so this happens:
-->'''Trudge:''' Fine! I'll challenge you as a duelist, ya former king!\
'''Jack:''' FORMER King?!?!?!?
* Jack's conversation with Crow in his unlock event is entirely about how delicious Blue-Eyes Mountain coffee is, and how Jack regularly paid 30 dollars for individual cups of coffee that he drank in gallons despite not having a job.
-->'''Crow:''' All I said in the past was to stop wasting money on coffee! You never had a job, but you spent $30 a cup! And you didn’t drink cups - you drank gallons!\
'''Jack:''' I never held a job because no job was qualified for me!
** It also echoes the episode where Jack tries to get a job, but is fired quickly due to his ego or way of thinking.
* The conversation between Jack and Luna, who came to him after Leo ran off to try and duel Jack. She, without realizing it, burned him HARD.
-->'''Jack:''' I see. It must be tough to constantly look after your brother.\
'''Luna:''' Yeah... But I learned how by watching Yusei and Crow look after you.\
'''Jack:''' ...Pardon? What do you mean by that?\
'''Luna:''' [[InnocentlyInsensitive You always act like the little brother, so Yusei and Crow have to be the mature ones.]]\
'''Jack:''' Ergghh.... (I know she means no disrespect, so the disrespect feels worse...)
* In Dark Signer Kalin’s event, he displays a notable grudge against Trudge for [[DisproportionateRetribution taking his cards away while he was in the facility]]. Trudge sheepishly [[MisplacedRetribution points out that he wasn’t responsible for that]].
* In "Leo & Luna's Duel Carnival" event, during the 4th round dialogue, Leo almost called Jack's dragon as a dog before correcting himself.
** In the same dialogue, Luna says Blue-Eyes White Dragon feels kind, a reference to Kisara, whose Ka Spirit is Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Leo, obviously unaware of this, says Luna has weird taste.
* When Dark Signer Carly meets Crow, she doesn't know who he is, and she thinks that he is a stalker.
* The last part of the December 2020 Duel Carnival event features Luna picking Gladiator Beast Andal and calling it "cute". Leo denies it, and ends up getting threatened by Luna, all while [[CheshireCatGrin she remains smiling through the whole threat]].
* Jack and Trudge losing to Carly post-Gate has them demands her not to write about their loss hastily.
-->'''Jack:''' This was a fluke! Do not write about this!\
'''Trudge:''' Don't write anything! You'll ruin my cred!
* Try to duel Leo using Antinomy, and Leo, while still in duel world, will refer to Antinomy as "the cool version of Bruno", and ask him to teach about Accel Synchro. Which amusingly enough, implies he thinks Bruno is very uncool. Post-duel, if you win, Leo will complain and ask Antinomy to change back into Bruno because he (Leo) thinks he actually has a chance against Bruno. Kid not only wants to be taught, he wants to still win.
* While Paradox's Raid Duel event is generally pretty grim, there's a bit of comedy when Yusei and Jaden show up to confront Paradox in the DM era and Paradox asks how they travelled through time. They basically reply that [[StatingTheSimpleSolution they didn't time travel, they just used the Gate to hop from world A to world B]].

!! ZEXAL World
* Bronk, upon arrival, reveals that he, Yuma, and Tori were all supposed to enter Duel Links together, only for the latter two to head in without him. Then, upon being beaten by Yuma, asks where Tori is. This makes him realize, to his horror, he accidentally left her behind in the tutorial area.
* If Yuma [[LeeroyJenkins tries attacking with with various monsters that have 0 ATK]], Astral will try in vain to make him reconsider.
-->'''Astral:''' [[OhCrap Wait, Yuma!]] Ganbara Knight's Attack Points are-!\
'''Yuma:''' [[TooDumbToLive You worry too much! Go Ganbara Knight!]]\
\
'''Astral:''' [[ThisIsGonnaSuck I cannot convince you that this is not wise, can I?]]\
'''Yuma:''' ... Nope! Gogogo Gigas attacks!
* Tori was so mad with Yuma leaving her behind, that she ends up basically defeating everyone around in rage. Astral comments on it.
-->'''Astral:''' Duel Links Observation #1: If Tori is angry, her dueling skills reach grandmaster levels.
* Ruby, one of the standard duelist for ZEXAL world, wonders how Duel Links' fake Heartland can be so clean without the cleaner robots around. The thing is, not only there ARE cleaner robots around, but also, one is even seen cleaning the street!
* The contagious effect of Yuma's catchphrase in the anime series is shown again here in Duel Links, as Mia, another standard Duelist in ZEXAL world, may occasionally says Yuma's catchphrase as her pre-Duel dialogue if you talk to her as another character that's not Yuma. And occasionally if you talk to her ''as'' Yuma.
* One of Tori's unique summoning lines has her summon [[WebVideo/YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries Mushroom Man]]. As hilariously random as it seems to be, it's actually a reference to the food in the episode where she and her friends opened a cafe for a school event. More hilarious if you actually put Mushroom Man in her deck and beat ranked duelists with it.
* When Tori challenges Shark to a Duel in his roaming event, he actively tries to discourage her from Dueling by telling her to go home.
* When Quattro arrives in Duel Links, he still has his sadistic personality and becomes the Raid Boss for his event. At the end of it, it turns out that Quattro hasn't regressed in his character as the others assumed, he's just dueling normally. As hard as he is to defeat, Ruby and Mia appreciate that Quattro isn't babying them and gets mad at Yuma for getting in their way.
* Since Anna's return to Duel Links as an playable Duelist, she is on the hunt once again for Yuma. Meeting Bronk has her not recall him, and when he reminds her that they went to the same school before her transfer, she ponders for a while until she apparently lit up with realization...
-->'''Anna:''' ...Oh yeah!\
'''Bronk:''' You remember now?\
'''Anna:''' ...Yeah. Totally.\
'''Bronk:''' ''She totally does not.''
* It appears that whenever Orbital appears in Duelist interactions, expect him to be on receiving ends regardless of his actions. With Anna, when Kite stops her so she doesn't take the privilege of defeating Yuma before him, Orbital quietly gushes how kindly Kite acts, but after receiving a sharp glare directed at him, exclaims in horror as if Kite read his mind.
* Anna's event climaxed with her and Tori forcing Yuma to choose between them as partners for a Couples Duel, which Astral claimed would be the most important decision of his life, implying it to be a ''literally between life and death'' decision. Considering the two girls in question, Astral's not wrong.
-->'''Astral:''' Yuma, this is the most important decision you will ever make in your life.\
'''Yuma:''' What!? That important!?\
'''Astral:''' No matter who you choose, you will take big damage. Therefore, your decision must be based on which option will allow you to exist on Earth longer. This is the biggest test of your Dueling career. Do not make the wrong choice, Yuma.
** It should be noted that the whoever Tori or Anna gets paired with instead of Yuma (Bronk, Shark, or Kite) is very uncomfortable and will note that they will pay back Yuma for this later.
* When Shark is trying to hide from someone, Yuma and Astral thought he was from hiding from the Barians. Turns out he was hiding from Rio.
* Shark and Rio's lines against each other really shows their sibling relationship and the winner wastes no time in teasing the loser. Rio either laments to return to practice or threathen to add onions in Shark's salad while he admits he wouldn't lie about Rio getting as good as him and gloats about that. Likewise, Rio teases that Shark is helpless without her when she wins.
* During Rio's unlock event, Shark is trying to hide from Rio again and asks Yuma to help him. [[BadLiar Needless to say, Yuma does a terrible job pretending not to know anything.]]
** Bronk on the other hand is more than happy to give Shark's location out of love for her. Shark is not amused.
--->'''Shark:''' Rio!? How did you know where I was!? (Sees Bronk with her and puts the pieces together easily) ...Bronnnnnnk!\
'''Bronk:''' Forgive me, my future brother-in-law!\
'''Shark:''' I am not your future brother-in-law!
** When Rio tries to duel Yuma to get Shark’s location out of him, she says his catchphrase wrong by saying it’s time to feel the blow. Yuma corrects her but she says he would both feel the flow and the blow in the end.
** Pretty much the entirety of Rio's interaction with Anna, due to Anna's [[ObliviousToHisOwnDescription stunning lack of self-awareness]]:
*** When Rio asks for Yuma after Anna tells her she doesn't know where Shark is, Anna gets somewhat defensive, demanding to know whether or not Rio is Yuma's friend. Rio, with the sweetest smile imaginable, casually asks whether Anna means "is she (Rio) going to erase Yuma from existence." Anna (who, to recap, introduced herself to Yuma by trying to blow him up) insists she wouldn't go that far.
*** Keeping in mind that Rio and Anna have essentially never spoken to each other before, it becomes hilariously ironic to have Rio saying that she heard that "certain people are out to get [Yuma]" and Anna thinking that she didn't know that... even though, in all likelihood, ''Anna herself'' is the "certain people" in question.
** When Rio finds her brother in the second story event, he turns down her request to duel him. She then threatens to reveal all his embarrassing secrets, like how he hates onions and green bell peppers.
*** Also the sheer fact that said onions are the required unlock item for the event.
* Rio's re-release of her event has an event mission after unlocking her to Summon Ice Princess Zereort. The reward? One Onion. As an Icon. She'll never let Shark hear the end of his embarrassing secrets...
* If Yuma uses The Regulation of Tribe Continuous Trap card, it brings about hilarious dialogue from Astral.
-->'''Yuma:''' I select... Silver Glowy Floaty Type!\
'''Astral:''' Are you trying to prevent ME from attacking?
* Girag's entry into Duel Links. ''No one'' remembers him. ''At all.'' Despite the fact that he's an established Barian Emperor and was a consistently recurring enemy for a good portion of that arc.
** There's a RunningGag of him performing a SherlockScan on those he encounters, unaware that the other character has noticed him staring at them and start questioning him. His response is always some variation of "[[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial I'm not suspicious at all]]", which is then [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] by them, kickstarting the duel. Another variation is him saying "I'm a fan". This [[DidNotThinkThisThrough backfires horribly]] when he says this to ''Quattro'', who's all about his "fanservice".
** In his interaction with Anna, she keeps calling him 'old' while he protests repeatedly about his age. Not having much interaction to her, Girag wonders who she is and has no clue when ''she'' is the one who approaches him.
** Episode 3 begins the Tag Duels with team setups: Anna and Tori not happy with theirs; Shark and Kite wondering why they're in a team (Hunters in a Bad Mood).
** Whenever Rio and Bronk's Tag Team loses, Bronk assures that they'll win next time and Rio responds that they will by "feeling the glow", leaving Bronk pondering that it sounds similar to Yuma's catchphrase.
** Episode 5 concludes that while Girag sets Yuma to throw the Duel and controls Tori and Anna, he is once again roped as a partner because Shark and Kite left the place shortly after.
*** Moreover, the fact that Girag is basically trying the exact same plan he tried back in the show proper (albeit, replacing Cathy for Anna because the former isn't in Duel Links yet), and somehow expecting it to play out differently is laughable. He soon realizes that, yet again, [[DidNotThinkThisThrough he's in danger of fading away]] when he's forced to be Yuma's partner. Players who know this would probably just be laughing at the sheer absurdity of this.
* Should Bronk or Tori lose against Yuma and Astral in a Duel, they may sometimes comment that he did well in the Duel... before questioning whether Astral assisted Yuma.
* Much like DSOD Bakura, when Quinton was announced to be appearing as a roaming character, fans quickly speculated what archetypes would be associated with him, especially since he not only didn't duel much in the show proper, but also didn't showcase many of the cards in his deck. When his voice lines were leaked, it turned out he was given lines for ''B.E.S.'' and ''Kozmo'', two archetypes heavily associated with outer space, as well as ''Satellite Cannon'' and its counterparts. It's pretty funny imagining Quinton being inspired by ''VideoGame/{{Gradius}}'' and ''Franchise/StarWars'', of all things.
* Quinton's Duel Scene with Anna. First, he begins by addressing her as Yuma's friend and Anna was about to likely call herself Yuma's 'girlfriend' while Quinton remains smiling silently at her pause. Then he eggs her on to Duel him by saying if her Dueling improves, Yuma will pay more attention to her and she immediately accepts. It turns out that before his arrival, Trey informed him of the Duelists, even every aspect of their personalities.
* Alito's Roaming event has some laughs in the scenes. Right at the Prologue, after chiding Girag for losing focus on their mission, Alito ends up being distracted, falling for Tori when he bumped into her.
** Midway, he tries to catch her attention, only for Yuma to constantly 'intervene'.
** At the Ending, after their Duel, Tori tries to intervene to tell them to stop Dueling over her. Alito politely asks her to move away and he and Yuma make a promise to Duel each other whenever possible, Tori soon demanding why they are ignoring her.
* While Alito's Unlock event is serious given that the Barians are now able to use their full potential against Yuma and co., the one scene that is amusing is Alito's Duel Scene with Anna for a few reasons:
** She's the ''only'' Duelist out of the rest to ''not'' mention Alito's Barian status, likely meaning she either doesn't know or doesn't care.
** Everyone is ready to Duel Alito for their own personal reasons: to protect Yuma, have revenge for Rio, to protect Hart, etc... Anna's reason? She is jealous that Alito proclaims himself as Yuma's "rival for life". And considering that the earlier ZEXAL unlock event has her undergo Quinton's training to win Yuma's attention... She didn't take it well.
** Their Duel ends up to claim the "title" of being Yuma's rival.

!! ARC-V World
* Apparently there is a RunningGag of some duelists first showing up in worlds other than ARC-V and ''immediately'' get into a fig- um, ''duel'' upon doing so.
** When Sylvio makes it into Duel Links, he somehow finds himself in 5D's world where a Security officer casually asks for a duel. Sylvio, confident as ever, accepts and immediately loses.
** Yugo also ends up in 5D's and picks a fight with an officer - even though by this point the Tops and Commons have united and Yugo knows it because he has Yuya's memories. Apparently starting fights with the police is sheer reflex.
** Celina shows up in the DM world and her first order of business is to crush Weevil for running an insect deck.
* In Yuto's Event release, after he recovers all his memories of what happened to him, he consults with Yuya to analyze why he is separated from him as a physical entity. After Yuto comes to the conclusion that he is created from the influence of Yuya's memories, Yuya wonders why he is the only one here which Yuto remarks he was the first. And after all the serious talk, we then get this NarratingTheObvious exchange:
-->'''Yuya:''' Duel Links sure is a weird place.\
'''Yuto:''' Yes, it is.
* During Sora's event, Sylvio tries to duel Sora, but Sora doesn't want to duel him since he is busy. So what does Sylvio do to change Sora's mind? [[FoodAsBribe He bribes Sora with candy]], which Sora accepts.
** If Yuya meets Sora, Yuya refuses to duel Sora until the kid breaks out the PuppyDogEyes. Sora later comments that Yuya is so easy to manipulate.
** Declan asks if he can rely on Sora if the chips are down, to which Sora replies that he's up for it. Declan then tells Sora that he should train for the upcoming fight, only for Sora to say that it doesn't sound fun and that Declan should word it as something like "Hey bud! You down to train 'til dawn?" which leads to a rare case of [[NotSoStoic Declan losing his cool momentarily]].
--->'''Declan:''' [[TheComicallySerious That is not how I talk.]]
* During Yugo's unlock event in Duel Links, in his interaction with Yuto, Yugo straightforwardly pries into Yuto's relationship with Lulu. Yuto gets so flustered by Yugo's terrible manners that he goes into ''Awakening'' state, swearing to straighten him out.
** At the start of meeting Zuzu in either his interaction with her or Episode 1, Yugo immediately rushes at her mistaking her for Rin, causing her to strike him with her [[PaperFanOfDoom harisen]]. She keeps doing this until he finally stops calling her Rin, then threatens to hit him again when he addresses her dismissively.
** At his Ending scene, after a heartwarming resolution to achieve what he couldn't do before, Yugo pesters Zuzu to release Rin from her body with an BGM shift from heartwarming to comedy and she appropriately responds by beating him up with her harisen while Yuya tries to stop them. And not to mention that Zuzu informs Yugo that the Duels for the King of Games title isn't ''all'' about using Turbo Duels, leaving Yugo flabbergasted.
* Yugo's bio keeps his primary RunningGag alive with the line "[[WhosOnFirst Mentioning Fusion around Yugo is a no-go.]]"[[labelnote:For the uninitiated]]In Japanese, "Yūgo" (his name) and "Yūgō" (Fusion) are near-homophones, leading to much confusion from most and much rage from Yugo. This was LostInTranslation as the wordplay doesn't exist in English, so the dub instead opts for a few instances of MaliciousMisnaming with nicknames like "No-go".[[/labelnote]] Additionally, his level 30 deck is titled "Don't Talk Fusion Around Me!"
** When you do select him, he may bring said RunningGag up by announcing in a more annoyed tone as "The name's Yugo, not Do-do!"/"Ore wa Yūgo da! Yūgō ja ne!" (My name's Yugo! It's not Fusion!)
* From Celina's event:
** Literally the first thing she does upon entering Duel Links is to beat the crap out of Weevil in a duel due to his parasite.
** Yugo instantly mistakes her for Rin, and she smacks him away, a callback to their first encounter in the anime. She's also disgusted about the faces he makes when speaking about his friend. She then complains about Yugo's antics, asking if his brain is made of mashed potatoes. During the episode-triggered encounter, same thing happened, and she asks if his brain is filled with puddings.
** She constantly interrogates Yuto about what Lulu means to him. He promptly notes she's worse than Yugo when it comes to obliviousness since unlike Yugo who was straightforward and teased him about it, Celina has no ulterior motive behind asking. She's legitimately curious about their relationship, but due to having NoSocialSkills can't tell that it's an uncomfortable subject for Yuto.
** Zuzu is shocked to see her in Episode 1 since she's supposed to be inside her. Since Celina doesn't remember what happened, in a rather hilarious reference to the ''Arc-V'' manga, she asks if that means Zuzu's her mother. They then get into a NoYou argument over who is the younger sister between the two.
** Shay's interaction with her, after confirming that there's still no news about Lulu, is to sincerely thank Celina with a soft look on his face for giving him hope (since it's now confirmed that the girls can separate). Celina tells him to stop talking like that because Shay acting so soft is creepy.
** She tells Declan that since she is part of his older sister Ray, that makes Declan her ''little brother''. Declan is ''dumbfounded''. Especially since Declan is a few years ''older'' than Celina.
--->'''Declan:''' ''(visibly shocked)'' [[VisibleSilence ..................]] I don't think it does.
** Celina and Sylvio constantly butt heads at each other in their Duel Scene. Celina dismissively greets Sylvio when she meets him. When Sylvio claims to be undefeated, Celina points out she saw him lose every Duel she witnessed. Sylvio angrily retorts that she lost to Yugo. Finally, they throw insults at each other.
* Whenever Serena beats Dr. Crowler in a Duel, she delivers an unnecessarily large burn towards him, believing his skills aren't worthy of being a teacher in Duel Academy.

!! VRAINS World
* Brave Battler, one of the Standard Duelists introduced in VRAINS World is quickly cemented as joke material despite being a minor character in VRAINS. To put this into perspective, even other "joke" characters like Tristan Taylor and Scud got added to the game as playable duelists. Brave Battler doesn't even get a playable slot on the roster. He's considered so insignificant that he's relegated to a CPU-only role.
* If you complete all available stages in the VRAINS world, Ai will show up to tell the developers to make more or he'll do it himself... and then add squirrels.
* One of Playmaker's Draw Phase at low LP dialogues has AI praying for luck with Playmaker responding incredulously.
* Blue Angel's interaction with Soulburner during her Unlock Event while reminiscing of the past, Soulburner laments he has already transferred away from Den High but Blue Angel responds with surprise whether he knows of her real world identity (Skye). Both response in confusion until Soulburner realizes she forgot about meeting him (Theodore). Blue Angel's response is a very long silence before saying "Oh.".
** In Episode 3, Ai is very unhappy with how Duel Links players are winning against Playmaker who is holding back. Playmaker assures that by going through this, SOL Tech has to respond to repay him. Though afterwards, his expression appears rather riled up when he returns to challenge the fans again. There are limits to Yusaku's tolerance in being viewed as 'weak'...
* Ghost Gal's introduction to Playmaker and Ai in their Duel scene has her making the checks to see how the new version of Ai is. He picks a random card and draws the Fake Trap card, much to the annoyance from his old version's memories. Also doubles as heartwarming as Ghost Gal gives him a formal welcome for being Ai.
** There's a moment in the Episode 4 dialogue where Ghost Gal directly calls out Kolter[=/=]Kusanagi for watching them and saying she'll be needing his help too. Playmaker confirms that yes, he and Kolter are in contact again, but it's also a nod [[LeaningOnTheFourthWall to the player]].

!! SEVENS World
* When Yuga enters Duel Links for the first time he meets a Duelist and after he hears about it, he geeks out with enthusiasm that the Duelist quickly leaves him alone.
* Everything about Luke.
** When he enters Duel Links, his linking message is repeated again.
** At his introduction, Luke panics that there are no vending machines in Duel Links because he can't have drinks. And Yuga even questions whether it's a problem. He then tries to test Duel Links' validity by trying his [[WalkingTechbane Pauli Effect]] out, which Yuga quickly stops him from doing so. The system apparently shuts down with sound to boot... until it cuts back that Yuga did stop Luke.
** In his unlock scene, after hearing from Yuga about the King of Duels, he is determined to achieve his dream... and in a hilarious callback to the second episode of SEVENS, Luke doesn't hit a wall with a holographic projection, he goes in the direction ''away'' from the Arena.
** His profile repeats the effect of his ace monster Multistrike Dragon Dragias because... (We mention it twice because this detail is twice as important), as stated.
** When Luke wins a Duel, he may lament that he should show mercy to his court as the upcoming King of Duels.
** In Romin's unlock scene, when Luke hears that Duels in the Arena can be recorded for Duel Links visitors to watch, he forces Romin to participate despite her protests.
* Yuga doesn't even realize Kaizo entered Duel Links with him ''at the start of entering the world'' until Romin enters Duel Links.
* In Mimi’s interaction with Romin, she tries to bribe the latter with various 80s items, such as a video store coupon. After these just elicit confusion, Mimi instead offers a voucher for her favourite restaurant, which [[BigEater Romin]] immediately accepts.
* Amongst the NPC Duelists, you'll find Yosh Imimi. But the first unlockable character outside the four main characters is Mimi Imimi, meaning you may have to have Mimi defeat her son several times to level her up unless you go out of your way to avoid it. Here's hoping Yosh's Overcrusher persona becomes a Legendary Duelist down the line....
** On the other hand though, they at least have a heartwarming conversation should you try to pair them as opponents in Duel.
* Mimi herself induce some funny reactions from players who never watch SEVENS before, as they wouldn't know beforehand that this little girl is........''37 years old with a son''.
* Normally, the strongest version of a character in their unlock event, that requires building up a gauge to make it show up, is Level 50, higher than the maximum level at the event Gate, which is Level 40. Mimi's unlock event however, has Mimi, at her strongest, be Level '''37'''. Which is her own age.
* Mimi's Event Ending. Unlike most other Legendary Duelists event Endings with reference Duels, it ''immediately'' cuts to her losing the Duel. She also doesn't even realize that throughout the whole time, she isn't in the real world until informed by Yuga about how Duel Links works from their understandings.
* Mimi immediately fangirls over Roa meeting him in his Event and when she nearly goes to tell Roa about Goha Enterprises, she does a DoubleTake and realizes she may potentially reveal Goha's secrets to him after reviewing the fan club's rules, quickly taking her distance away from Roa while he muses he might have scared her.
** Roa's interaction with Gavin has him comment that him and Romin don't get along as others think, that Gavin misinterprets and assumes that [=RoaRomin=] may break up because of band members having different tastes in music.
* In Roa's Episodes, there are some funnier scenes amidst the eventual tension. Episode 1 has Mimi's motions from being invited into the concert implying that she faints from sheer joy that no one else really responds to it.
** Episode 2 has Romin revealing her allegiance to Roa and subsequently calling Yuga's group "dimwits". Gavin informs Luke that he's also a "dimwit", and Luke quickly becomes offended.
** Romin's hunger starts to make her hallucinate her Duel Guitar as calamari and Prima Guitarina's name as carborana in Episode 3 before her eventual Hangry mode.
** At Roa's event ending, after Luke refuses to accept Romin back into their group, Yuga suggests to Romin to make a meal for Luke and he will let it go. Roa already knows of how much a [[LethalChef "cook"]] Romin is and only watches as Romin forces Gavin to help her cook, and the ensuing explosion from her curry to knock the poor guy out. Sure, Luke instantly forgives Romin afterwards, but poor Gavin.
* In Nail's event, he very quickly becomes TheComicallySerious when challenged by [[CloudCuckoolander Luke]]. After expositing on Luke's accomplishments, Luke accidentally manages to irk him by questioning whether he was sure he wasn't giving compliments, leading to Nail getting uncharacteristically annoyed:
--> '''Nail:''' I do not appreciate those who question me. I'm curious how your friends manage to tolerate you.\
'''Luke:''' Even I can tell that's not a compliment! My friends love me, bro! From head to toe!\
'''Nail:''' Just because your slogan rhymes doesn't make it true.\
''([[{{Beat}} awkward silence from both]])''\
'''Nail:''' We are never going to get along.

!! Other Events
* The Tag Duel Tournament allowed for wacky pairings that would never realistically happen, like Yami Yugi teamed up with Yami Bakura or Arkana, Seto teamed up with Pegasus or Joey, and Joey teamed up with Bandit Keith.
** Speaking of odd couple pairings, Yugi teams up with Kaiba for the final match of the Hard rank, and the latter is, as expected, [[TeethClenchedTeamwork none too enthusiastic about working with his arch-rival]]. If you win, Kaiba rants to Yugi while he just says "Kaiba..." as if he really wanted to please him, but failed. If they win, Yugi [[LargeHam proudly proclaims this is the strength of their bond]] while Kaiba just responds with a DramaticEllipsis.
** Pegasus and Mickey team up, with Pegasus confusing him for Sam, the kid who beat Bandit Keith.
** Joey and Mai bicker LikeAnOldMarriedCouple. In particular, what Mai says after they lose will resonate with all the players [[ArtificialStupidity who had to put up with Joey to get to Master Rank.]]
--->'''Mai''': No one on this planet can understand your moves!
** Yami Marik and Yami Bakura put aside their differences for the sake of causing pain, and shrug off their defeat if they lose.
* The June 2018 Tag Tournament included some unlikely team ups again, including Arkana with Yami Yugi and Kaiba with Pegasus. For the former, Yami Yugi is adamant about not trusting him at all, while if they lose Arkana is happy to drag Yugi down with him. For the latter, Pegasus is his usual self while Kaiba is willing to put up with him but becomes ''furious'' if they lose.
** Standard Duelist Zachary smugly claimed to his partner that she doesn't have to worry, because he's an Obelisk Blue. The thing is, his partner, Standard Duelist Alyssa, ''is also an Obelisk Blue''. And when they lose, as expected, Zachary blames her instead. Alyssa just laughs it off.
** Joey gets Tristan as a partner, and will bicker if they lose. What's hilarious is their dialogue. Tristan has the same complaint as Mai in the previous Tag Team event, while Joey makes a wordplay.
--->'''Tristan:''' What were you thinking? There's no way you can win with those cards!\
'''Joey:''' What about you with those strategies? I call them tragedies!
** Chazz gets partnered with Syrus, when both have someone else in mind - Chazz wanted Alexis while Syrus wanted Jaden.
** Mai gets partnered with Ishizu, and they get along quite well with each other, though they lampshade the hasty teamup if they lose.
** Odion/Rishid Ishtar has some [[https://thewittyphantom.tumblr.com/post/174809212253/heres-some-tag-duel-stuff-for-the-kuriboh-cup really intense dramatic dialog]] which weirds out Mako/Ryota.
--->'''Odion:''' Like a shadow, I will never leave my partner's side. Us two shall become one.\
'''Mako:''' Uh, sure...
* The January 2019 Tag Tournament features even more funny moments.
** Jack and Crow teams up, and when they lose and Crow complained, Jack responds with:
--->'''Jack:''' I just want to see what was their Set card!
** Alexis teams up with GenkiGirl Kylie, and when they lose, Kylie apologized and scared because she heard Alexis is scary when she lost a duel. Alexis is fine with them losing.....until she realized the "scary" part. Who said she is scary? Jaden, Syrus, and Hassleberry.
** Aster throws quite a sick burn to Chazz even before the duel began, by implying if they lose, it's gonna be Chazz's fault.
--->'''Chazz:''' You better not be the reason we lose!\
'''Aster:''' Believe me, it won't be.
** And then after the Duel as well. Chazz actually apologizes to Aster and blamed himself, but Aster's response?
--->'''Aster:''' We didn't lose because of you. It was me. You're not that special.
* Tour Guide's dialogues with Gladiator Beast Andal in the Gladiator event is usually filled with funny moments.
-->'''Tour Guide:''' Hold your horses! .....Or bears, I guess.\
'''Tour Guide:''' Who the heck chose this furball as the guide for this event!?
* When you defeat level 10 Karate Man in the D.D. Wind/Earth Tower, he directly references his own effect:
-->'''Karate Man:''' You don't even gotta destroy Karate Man, 'cause Karate Man gonna destroy himself! [[{{Kiai}} HI-YAHH!]] [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere KA-BOOM!]]
** Karate Man is a full on MetaGuy in more ways than one - as well as referencing his own card effect, he references the Duel Links meta with its heavy use of backrow, and the card "Enemy Controller" in particular, as well as an OTK deck involving him that was popular in the early days of the game.
** Karate Man also has an accidental funny moment - he has set dialogue, regardless of the mission he hands to you. This results in him claiming "you hide behind backrow" even if you successfully completed his mission to ''not'' use any Spell or Trap cards.
** Level 40 Karate Man frequently mentions his afro, win or lose.
* The D.D. Dark Tower event features Tour Guide as an opponent. At floor 21-30, her dialogues (especially if she won the duel) makes a reference at the fact that many players are too lazy and abuses Auto-Dueling feature for practically almost everything, that the players becomes essentially weaker than a mere guide as they never actually play their Deck, despite being Duelists.
* The D.D. Light Tower had Gradius in a state of panic about obstacles from [[VideoGame/{{Gradius}} its game of origin]], including Moai statues and volcanic activity. On Floor 41 and up, it becomes so desperate to win it resorts to the Konami Code.
** The D.D. Light Tower also has Alien Grey, who at higher floors, when defeated, will claim that "the power creep of this planet is out of control," a meta reference to the inevitable power creep in card games, ''Yu-Gi-Oh'' in particular.
* The Tour Guide Bingo Event's final reward is revealed to be a cute facial expression from Tour Guide. And then she orders you to scram afterwards. She gets fed up with making the expression in the December 2020 Bingo and refuses to make it.
* May 2019 Tag Tournament event has a few funny moments.
** Tristan gets paired with Mako, and Mako thought Tristan must be an awesome duelist because he hangs out a lot with Yugi and Joey.
** Mai refers to Rex as her minion. It took a few seconds for Rex to realize it. Also, after you won the duel:
--->'''Mai:''' Sheesh, we could have won if my minion acted more minion-esque!\
'''Rex:''' This minion doesn't need your opinion!
** Jesse and Yubel get partnered together, with the latter commenting that she didn’t agree to this partnership.
** Literally all of Lumis and Umbra's dialogues when they lost the duel.
* The August 2019 Tag Tournament has the following funny moments:
** Espa Roba and Tristan paired up, with Tristan awkwardly saying hi and Espa having no idea who he is. When they lose, Espa is distraught that he brought down someone good enough to be Joey's friend, and Tristan says he's making him feel bad.
** Bastion is paired with the standard duelist Logan, who is a fan of Bastion. And once again, when Logan lost a duel, he forgot Bastion's name despite being a fan of him
* In the November 2019 Tag Tournament, there are the following funny moments:
** When Chazz and Hassleberry team up, Chazz thought Hassleberry wants to be his partner because he wants to learn from him. Hassleberry says he only teamed up with him because he was the only one left.
** When Bastion teams up with Syrus, Bastion is happy to be paired with another Ra Yellow, only for Syrus to point out he's actually in Obelisk Blue now, and he's back in Ra Yellow just for "practice".
*** And when you defeat them, Bastion admitted he lacks training due to helping with experiments, and Syrus admits that he.....doesn't notice Bastion is missing at all.
** Para is teamed up with Strings instead of Dox, without realizing it until the duel is over.
* The April 2020 Tag Duel event has Alyssa lampshade her terrible luck with partners after being stuck with Evan, who wanted her to win the duel for him.
** Pegasus teams up with Nick this time, and just like when he was with Mickey, Pegasus calls the young boy Tom, which was the name of the kid that beat Bandit Keith in the manga and Japanese anime. So now he thinks two separate kids with different names and looks are the same boy.
** If you lose against Jack Atlas and Officer Trudge's team, they will bicker like two kids about whose strategy won them the game.
* The end of the D.D. Castle Siege event had a death fakeout from the Tour Guide, who turned out to be TooKinkyToTorture and secretly liked Vampire Hunter whipping her, and also referenced the Mario series when the Hunter entered the wrong castle.
* In one of the Tag Duel events, Mako & Tristan's deck name is [[RatedMForManly "Manly Men"]].
* In the January 2021 Tag Duel event, after losing the duel, it's revealed Ruby thought Mia is a ''kindergartner'', when she's actually ''1 year above Ruby''. Ruby herself is a ''middle schooler''. Mia is used to it anyway.
* April 2021 Tag Duel Tournament, when you defeat Yuma & Kaito team, both Kaito and Astral stare at Yuma when Yuma complained about what makes them lose, implying both of them agree that they think ''the reason is Yuma''.
* As usual with a Tag Duel event, January 2022 Tag Duel event has some funny moments.
** Much like in the January 2021 Tag Duel event when Ruby mistakes Mia as a kindergartner when Mia is actually 1 year older than her, in the January 2022 Tag Duel event, Bronk mistakes Theo for someone younger than him, when Theo is actually 2 years older than him.
** When you encounter Antinomy and Akiza pair, Antinomy questioned Akiza if she's sad he's her tag partner instead of Yusei. Looks like her love towards Yusei is so obvious to everyone, ''even Antinomy''.
** When you won the ARC-V Cup alongside Yuzu, she'll realize You Show still has zero new applicants after all that showing.....so she forces you to be the new applicant.
** In the Zexal Cup, Anna turns up and gets paired with Tori. When Anna exclaims she'll bring everything down, Tori lampshades that it means she'll bring Tori, her own partner, down as well.
* The Wave Duel Scramble event debuting in March 2022 has the Tour Guide from the Underworld as a character that can be randomly fought. With voice acting from that update. But what makes it funnier other than no one expecting this that if she is allowed to progress with her turns, she can ''completely destroy you'' just like most of the Legendary Duelists at their Finals/Challenge Round.
** At Jaden, Alexis and Hassleberry's Duel, Hassleberry comments that Alexis is fierce like a Tyrannosaurus. Alexis, obviously agitated that Hassleberry is implying she is not feminine, gives him a smile while asking him to repeat that. Hassleberry immediately shuts up seeing her response.
** Kaiba wastes little time in trolling Joey when he, Joey and Atem are about to Duel.
--->'''Joey:''' It must not be your day cuz you gotta face the top three Duelists all of Domino!\
'''Kaiba:''' Top three? There's me and Yugi... Who's the third?
* The June 2022 Tag Duel events has some as well:
** Your first partner seems to be regular Bakura, only for him to transform into Yami Bakura. After winning the cup, Yami transforms back, leaving Ryou confused at how the tournament ended without him.
** Continuing the pattern of awkward team ups we have Yuma with Anna and Yuya with Sylvio. Both Yu-tagonists are very uncomfortable with their partners and start arguing with them when they lose.
** On a note, Anna's Deck in her Tag Duel with Yuma includes a copy of Tenderness, which obviously appears out of place in her Railway Deck. Considering what the card text says, it signifies her crush on Yuma.
** The Challengers Tag Duelists this time are Shark and Rio. Shark initially refuses to Tag Duel with Rio, but once she starts jabbing that he is running away like a coward, he ultimately resigns to be her "partner" once she brought up his dislike of onions. Them losing a match has Rio exasperated that they lost with her while Shark complains ''she'' is the reason why they lost.
** After winning the tournament with Kite, he tells the player they reminded him of a certain duelist, leading Orbital to ask if Kite [[BorrowedCatchphrase felt the flow]]. Kite shoots Orbital a DeathGlare in response.
--->'''Orbital:''' ...Pretend I said nothing.
* July 2022 Wave Duel Scramble have Bakura, Téa and Joey as the first boss wave of DSOD wave. Joey initially complains about being last in the Wave Duel, but Bakura and Téa assure him that the setup relate to their 'strength' and he is the 'final boss' of the Wave. When they all lose, Bakura and Téa both get mad at Joey who claims he lost because of 'societal problems'. Both Bakura and Téa are stunned at him using such large words.
** Their team also doubles as funny since in their character unlock events, Bakura and Téa were both seen winning against Joey in their event endings.
* Introducing the Cyberse-Themed Duelist Kingdom has Ai introduced with the Tour Guide from the Underworld. Ai tries to be acquainted with another AI, it goes as what one would expect given his situation.
-->'''Tour Guide:''' Why would I want to be your friend? Aren't there people hunting you? I don't want to be deleted.\
'''Ai:''' You don't want to be my friend!? Agh! Stabbed me right in the heart! Like a true mean Fiend!
** When introducing Playmaker and Ai as the event Duelist for Duelist Kingdom, Ai goes to make a hammy introduction of Playmaker and when he wanted to make his introduction, Playmaker cuts him off and begins the Duel, much to Ai's woe.
--->'''Ai:''' Wh-Why don't I get an intro!?!?
** He still has some spite at the end of the event, calling the created Cyberse World "Phonyberse".
* November 2022's Tag Duel Tournament quickly introduces Vrains Cup, and there are a few funny moments.
** Brave Battler is Dueled first, but he is alone and he insists he is Dueling solo not because he couldn't find a tag partner.
** Then next comes a Hanoi cosplayer and Sunny. The cosplayer acts well in personality of the Hanoi, but constantly denies cosplaying as one by Sunny, at both start and losing. It is hilarious in a way, since defeating the Hanoi at the Vrains World either has them as a cosplayer or an actual Hanoi who just wanted to Duel for fun.
** DSOD Cup introduces Bakura and Sera (in her Prana avatar). Bakura geeks over Sera's avatar appearance (while not recognizing her), wondering about her while she tries to reply she's an 'unknown duelist', which he registers as her 'identity'. Amusingly, 'Prana' is named as such ingame of Duel Links.
* Jan 2023 Wave Duel Scramble, in DM Wave, Mai tries to lead Rex and Weevil to their Wave Duel team, but the two start fighting over for the first wave position. Once they lose, they all start bickering over who caused their loss. Mai tells the player not to turn out like 'them', which Rex quickly counters that she is included in 'them'.
** Bonz gets teamed up with Bandit Keith and Yami Bakura, and Bonz quickly ends up marginalized through their interactions, including after their defeat where Keith clearly tries to bite off more than he can chew since he's trying to challenge ''Yami Bakura'' of all people. This is HarsherInHindsight since in separate timelines, Yami Bakura is also responsible for sending Keith ''into a mental breakdown'' in the anime and banishes Bonz into the Shadow Realm in both timelines.
** In the ARC-V wave, Declan ends up teamed with Sylvio and NPC Henry. As per usual, Sylvio tries to make himself look like the star of the show. Then when he gets defeated, he backpedals and says ''Declan'' was the star, therefore responsibility for the loss falls on him. This is followed by Henry saying it was an honor to duel alongside Declan, resulting in Sylvio immediately regretting saying he wasn't really the star anymore.
** In Vrains Wave, Brave Battler is teamed up with a Hanoi knight when he hoped that his partner is Blue Angel, who silently comments that Brave Battler isn't being cool with his acting. But their defeat line has them bickering that the other had a brick starting hand. It actually calls back to Brave Battler's first LINK VRAINS Duel, where he Duels a Hanoi and both began with starting hands that has no summonable Monsters (all over Level 4).
* March 2023's Tag Duel Tournament has Yuya and Sora as ARC-V's final Duel. When they lose, Sora claims that Yuya made more mistakes in their Duel than he did which Yuya argues that they aren't competing against each other.
** Yuma, Astral and Tori are a tag team together in the ZEXAL Cup, Yuma expresses worry that Tori will cause him to lose but Tori herself and Astral are certain that she is able to handle it and Yuma goes far to accuse Astral of teaming up with her. If they lose, they blame Yuma for their loss together. If they win, they trade between themselves that they won... while leaving Yuma out of the contribution.
--->'''Yuma''': Is no one on my side? (Lose)
--->'''Yuma''': Not right! I was Dueling, not Astral! (Win)
* With October 2023's Tag Duel Tournament adding in new Duelists and implementing Rush Duel in a Tag Team format, there are some lovely moments to share.
** ARC-V Cup gives Yugo as the debut Tag Partner. He begins with his RunningGag to show Synchro is better than Fusions and thought the tournament was a Turbo Duel tournament initially before being corrected.
** VRAINS finally gives Brave Battler a partner: it's Playmaker. Both Playmaker and Ai agree to themselves they can't trust him at all and have to do their Duel by themselves.
** SEVENS' finals include Luke and Gavin, which the former calls themselves "Team President Luke". Gavin immediately calls Luke out that the name makes it sound like he's the Student Council President instead.
* 2023 December's Wave Duel Scramble, it is obvious that the format will definitely include Rush format, proven right just by entering the event and seeing Speed format via ZEXAL wave... And also in the Lottery, where Yuga's image is seen at the background.
** ZEXAL's first boss wave are Yuma and the Kastle siblings. Poor Yuma just can't catch a break being snapped at by them, first to not get involved in their usual bickering, and when they lose, they both yell at him for not being upset with their loss.
** ARC-V has Zuzu trying to promote You Show Duel school again after Yuya's team "blunders"; this time her next target is Celina. When she catches on, Zuzu quickly denies it. In the Challenge wave, it's Yuya, Yuto and Yugo. When they lose, after appreciating the Duel together, Yugo immediately blames Yuya and Yuto for losing. Yuto tries to defuse the situation, only to get caught in an argument with Yugo. If fans are aware of their manga counterparts, it can also be seen as Heartwarming for the the Yu-boys to act like the brothers they are from another time.
** SEVENS' Final boss wave fits Yuga, Luke and Gavin into a team. Again, like the first Tag Duel tournament Rush format is implemented, Gavin and Luke bicker about what Luke named them as: "Team Goha #7 Elementary's King Luke's Kings of Goha #7 Elementary" while Yuga is just happy to be able to see Rush Duel implemented in more ways after it entered Duel Links.
* The January 2024 Tag Duel Tournament had a hilarious exchange between Pegasus and Solomon Muto when the latter calls them both old-timers, prompting Pegasus to shout that he's younger than he looks and is closer to Yugi's age than Grandpa's.
** SEVENS Cup has Romin and Gavin as a team. When the former remarks she feels hungry, Gavin immediately begins to think of utilizing her Hangry persona for their team to win. While he ultimately decides against starving Romin, losing has him learn that Romin is ''hungry'', not ''starving''. He complains that his thoughts were for nothing.
** ZEXAL Cup presents Alito and Girag while in their human forms, and not able to fight all-out as a result. However, when they lose and Girag remarks that they couldn't give it their all, Alito takes it that Girag wasn't fighting seriously in human form and blames him for their loss.
** VRAINS Cup has Tour Guide from the Underworld teaming up with [[{{Cosplay}} Sunny]]. Sunny introduces her partner properly, while Tour Guide calls her "the fake [[https://yugipedia.com/wiki/Ghostrick_Nekomusume Ghostrick Nekomusume]]" and makes fun of her for being the worst Ghostrick card because it's not in Duel Links yet. After the Duel, Sunny asks Tour Guide if she's an AI or the actual thing. Tour Gude muses at both possibilities (being pure AI or being a genuine Duel Monster spirit given form by Duel Links) but doesn't give a straight answer, leaving Sunny more confused than before she asked.
